The No-Sew DIY Tassel Blanket You’ll Want To Keep Out All Year Round

I’m the kind of person who’s cold all the time. Hence, why summer is the season of pure happiness for me. So naturally, this DIY Abby crafted for her recent TODAY Show segment is right up my alley—and bonus, it’s the cutest throw I’ve ever seen. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with this cutie on a chilly spring day? Get the details below!

From Abby, a TODAY Show Tastemaker… In New England, Spring still means a little bit of chill in the air so it’s nice to have throw blankets around the house. We updated a plain white blanket with some bright pink tassels using something called Stitch Witchery, which is basically just an iron on adhesive. So simple, so perfect for the season.

Materials

Striped or solid blanket (we got ours from Ikea)
Embroidery thread or yarn
A piece of cardboard
3/4″ – 1″ ribbon
1/2″ stitch witchery (no-sew hemming tape)

instructions

Make your tassels. Choosing thread or yarn: yarn is more casual and poufy, embroidery thread is more elegant and light. Cut a piece of cardboard to the size you want your tassel to be and wrap yarn several times around the cardboard as thick as you want your tassel to be. Loop a smaller piece of yarn into the wrapped cardboard section and tie it off at the top. Cut the yarn at the bottom section of the cardboard. Finish off each tassel by wrapping and tying a small piece of yarn around the top of your tassel. Trim the ends of your tassels if they are uneven.

Find a trim or ribbon that will serve as the edging and conceal where the tassel is attached to the blanket.

Use hot glue to reinforce the tassel to the blanket, then lay the stitch witchery on top of the tassels lining the edge of the blanket.

Then add the trim on top of the stitch witchery and with iron on med/high press down for about 20 seconds to bond the trim and tassels to the blanket.

This Bride’s Bright Lehenga Will Convince You to Ditch the White Wedding Dress

I’ve always pictured myself coming down the aisle in a traditional lace wedding dress, but this stunning Bride just convinced me to consider color — fuchsia, coral and gold, to be exact. From the Bride’s gorgeous lehenga and traditional Hindu ceremony to the al fresco reception and lush florals from Michael Daigian Design, this day makes me wish I could turn back time so I could attend. See every magical moment from onelove photography in The Vault!

From the Bride… Ian and I had been dating for over 5 years when we went to Vietnam for my bar trip. I had been so absorbed with studying for the bar and planning the post-exam trip that an engagement was not on my mind. Plus, I had planned to give Ian some hints about the ring and never got around to doing that! One day in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Ian surprised me with a private sunset boat cruise. We got up to pose for a picture as the sun was setting and he dropped down on one knee and proposed using his grandmother’s ring! My first thought was that he was tying his shoe laces, which made no sense because it was summer and he was wearing sandals.

We knew we wanted to share our passion for food and wine with our loved ones as well as take advantage of the beauty of our home state of California. We had just moved back to San Francisco from Chicago and looking for an outdoor venue in Napa or Sonoma county was an obvious choice for us.

Planning a Hindu wedding outdoors meant we had to get creative, as Hindu ceremonies are typically held indoors against a wall. What we ended up with was a beautiful view of the vineyard behind the mandap (stage with pillars), which was itself draped with fabric and adorned with flowers. We also wanted to get away from the colors you traditionally see in a Hindu wedding and went with softer colors that complemented the outdoor setting rather than distracted from it.

For the reception, we wanted our guests to sit down to a beautiful but comfortable setting. We arranged long tables in a square with the dance floor in the middle, which created a sense of unity. Tables were named after some of our favorite restaurants and, to the extent possible, we sat people at tables named after restaurants we’ve eaten at together or in the city they live. This was a fun way to spark memories and make recommendations.

Favorite moments? For me, it was the moment I locked eyes with Ian as I was walking down the aisle and saw the pure emotion on his face.

We also loved involving our family and friends in the ceremony. They all surrounded the mandap at one point to say a prayer and bless us.

Another one of our favorite moments was when we sat down at the reception and looked around at our guests having a great time. The sun was setting and we could feel the love.

From Reverie MadeReveriemade is known for our fluffy, whimsical bouquets, and this is one of my favorites! Our signature style is to create soft, garden-inspired arrangements that evoke emotion and celebrate everyone in attendance. I’m drawn to analogous color palettes by nature, so most of my designs use colors found next to each other on the color wheel. While much of our work is more neutral in color, saturated tones can be just as lovely! In either case, I always source premium blooms and I never repeat a design. Every bride deserves a bouquet that is uniquely her own, and Ellen, here, was no exception.

Since Reveriemade orchestrates the planning, design, and flower design for most of our clientele, I create flower arrangements that work seamlessly with the event’s overall mood and energy. This is a great advantage because we can ensure that the aesthetics of the event are not only beautiful when experienced in person, but that the photographs captured will all work harmoniously in your wedding album. When we can take the time to match your favorite peony to the shade of your signature drink or your bouquet ribbon to the shade of your table linens, we have the ability to design and evoke emotion on a deeper level.

Reveriemade is based in the Princeton, NJ area and available for a limited number of local and destination weddings each year.

6 Items to Snag from this Modern Boy’s Nursery

Interior designer and mama bear are a good combo as it turns out because you just know that nursery is going to be on point. And guess what? This modern take on a little boy’s nursery by Kiera Kushlan is the proof. Removable zebra wallpaper and the yummiest green ceiling are but a few of the fun details tucked inside. Check out the VAULT of pretty images captured by Bonnie Sen for more + six get the look pieces we’re snagging for our grownup spaces below.

As a designer one of my favorite spaces to work on are nurseries. For me it’s one of the most personal and special spaces in someone’s home – we always feel honored when someone asks us to create that room for them. For many of our clients the nursery is something they’ve dreamed about most of their lives so we work incredibly hard to give them exactly what they’ve always envisioned.

When it was time to design a nursery of my very own I found it just as difficult if not more so to design a space that would live up to my own expectations and dreams. I spent months planning and re-planning every detail (let’s just say the ceiling was painted more than a few times in an attempt to find the perfect color). I wanted a space that felt modern but not cold, youthful but a space that could grow with our little boy, and masculine without being covered in trucks and dinosaurs.

By keeping the color scheme relatively simple and mostly black and white the room reads pretty modern overall. But by layering in multiple patterns it helps to keep things fun and fresh. The pop of green lends itself towards a more “masculine” feeling space without making the room an overtly “boy” room.

This Couple Met at a Wedding and Then This Happened

Joanna and Stephen met at a wedding, so it’s only fitting that their day dreamed up by JNS Events sets the standard high. For starters, their cake matches the linens. If that doesn’t steal your design loving heart right from the get-go then I don’t know what will. Oh, perhaps these adorbs desserts from Paula LeDuc Fine Catering will do the trick. See it all from Lori Paladino Photography in The Vault!

From The Bride…Steve and I had an international courtship, meeting in London at a mutual friends’ wedding. He was living in Hong Kong and I was based in the UK so after the sparks initially flew we did long distance for almost a year before Steve convinced me to move to Asia. After a whirlwind few months, he proposed on our veranda on New Years Eve. Giddy with excitement, we started planning our wedding and decided on San Francisco as the perfect destination because it was half way between Europe and Asia. We travelled to San Francisco a few times to pick the venues, do tastings and finalize details and we had the most amazing wedding planner, Jenny Schneider of JNS Events, guide us along the way. With a sixteen hour time change from Hong Kong to San Francisco, we put all of our faith in Jenny, and she did not disappoint.

I knew I wanted something traditional in terms of a church service and formal black tie sit down dinner. We ended up getting married at St Patrick’s Catholic Church and had our reception at the Asian Art Museum. The church was dreamy, with a boys choir singing throughout the service and I still remember the smell of the flowers walking down the aisle, thanks to Kathleen Deery. The Asian Art Museum was the perfect venue for us, and every detail was taken care of.

We mainly went with creams and golds, starting with our save the dates and continuing through to the wedding cake. We wanted something traditional and elegant.

On our invitations we had a gold seal of the Golden Gate Bridge which sealed it closed…..we got a lot of attention from that. I also cherish my wedding photo album. Lori Paladino captured every moment of the day to absolute perfection.

I have so many. I loved getting dressed and doing the hair and makeup surrounded by friends and family. I remember being a little shaky with nerves getting out of the car but then seeing Steve at the altar and just enjoying every moment, forgetting about being nervous. I adored Steve’s speech and our first dance was amazing.

Our flowers were mainly shades of cream. Kathleen Deery did an outstanding job with our center pieces which were mainly orchids. My dress was designed by Jin Wang. I wanted something ‘old school’ and Jin created a magical dress with a full skirt and lace bodice with long sleeves. The veil was lace trimmed.
