So Abby's all about the papel picado bunting (which was glorious in it's own right!), but for me? It's the paper flowers. As far as I'm concerned, they became the star of the show (apart from the cupcakes, of course - but that's my sweet tooth talking). They set the stage for a wonderfully whimsical, unexpected, absolutely fantastic evening. And the best part? They'll last forever and ever.
Green masking tape
Lay an 8” strip of green masking tape upside down on the table. Press the unfringed end of a sheet of yellow fringe onto the tape. Starting with one end, wrap the fringe around the wooden skewer until all the fringe is attached. Fluff out with your fingers and repeat for remaining sticks.
Download and print out the petal shapes- there are 3 petal shape choices. Fold pink tissue paper until it is about 20 layers thick. Cut out a square large enough to cover a set of petals. Place the petal shapes of choice on top of the tissue paper and cut out along the lines.
Lay out another sticky-side up strip of green masking tape and layer the smallest petals so that they overlap each other down the length of the tape. Wrap the petal strip around the flower center. Continue adding petals in the same manner, going up in size as you go, until all the petals have been added.
Fluff out the petals and repeat for remaining flowers. Fill up a vase with a whole bunch of these beauties for long-term gorgeousness!
