Cleveland Wish Upon a Wedding by Corey Ann Photography

What makes a wedding truly beautiful? Is it the picture perfect details, crafted with care by the bride and her maids? Is it the vows that come together into seemingly one piece of music? Is it the flowers or the food or the fun had dancing the night away? Yes, it’s all that. But when push comes to shove, the most beautiful part of a wedding is that when all stripped down and naked, it’s two people promising to love each other forever and ever. When we received this wedding, the beauty was obvious. The bride is glowy and gorgeous, the groom completely smitten. The flowers, the color palette, the perfect touches threaded through every last moment all made our hearts happy. But that wasn’t even half of the story.

From the photographer, Corey AnnThis wedding was a wish granted by Wish Upon a Wedding to Jon and Alyssa.  Jon has terminal brain cancer and doesn’t have much longer to live and his dying wish was to marry his soulmate, Alyssa.  The entire wedding was beautiful thanks to amazing donations from the talented group of vendors. Alyssa’s gown inspired the wedding design and the result was flawless.

We are so touched that Jon and Alyssa chose Style Me Pretty to share this with the world. It’s days like this one that remind us of just how important the heart of a wedding really is. The core, at it’s very purest form, is all about love. And love is the very first thing I saw when I opened this beautiful affair. Congratulations to Jon and Alyssa. Your wedding has touched our hearts just as it has your friends, family and the millions of people around the world that have shared your story.

Garden Wedding Photoshoot + Wrap It Up Pretty!

To wrap up our day of garden wedding pretty, we give you this absolutely lovely photoshoot that the always inspiring team at Simply Bloom Photography sent our way. It take garden gorg to an entirely new level and I think that I could live forever in so many of these photographs. Don’t worry, garden brides…no one in the world would expect you to have a wedding that looks like it’s been torn out of the pages of a glossy. The reason that we will always love photoshoots like this beautiful one by Simply Bloom Photography is that they can give you ideas for color palettes, flowers, subtle details. Little moments of pretty that you can thread through your own wedding day. To put it simply, they allow you to be inspired and to dream a little bit. They aren’t real though and the layers that you will bring to your real wedding will always outshine the perfect styling. Here’s to Garden Gorg.

From Simply Bloom Photography, LLCWith this inspirational photo shoot we wanted to showcase the quaintness of our local botanical gardens, and all the charming nooks that this venue offers for photos. Simultaneously, we wanted to inspire brides to think outside the box with small details such as favors containers (ours were in a lantern) or using a pot as a pie stand. A local botanical garden is a wonderful place for a charming wedding, and if the grounds allow, there are typically countless picture perfect vignettes throughout, not only for photos, but for a quaint and timeless outside wedding.

Are You a Garden Wedding Bride?

Today we’ve had the sheer pleasure of devouring TWO equally gorgeous Garden Inspired weddings. So pretty that you may be asking yourself, “am IIIII a garden bride?” (Said with lots of curiosity and excitement).  Well, we’ve come up with a little quiz to help you decide. And yes, this little quiz was thought up in our offices this morning so exact science it is not. But it’s fun and we like it and we think that it will tip some of you borderliners over to the Garden Bride side.

1. Is your favorite read Jane Eyre? Or maybe Pride and Prejudice?

2. Can you spot a peony from a mile away? And maybe even have a few fakies to fill your vases when peonies have come and gone?

3. Do you see yourself in the prettiest of pretty oh so flowy frocks?

4. Do you think that fresh from the garden floral styles totally trump the more structured varieties?

5. Do you kind of like seer sucker? or pin stripes? or bow ties? or any other variation of sweet men’s rags?

6.  Do you hit up flea markets just to find vintage hankies and perfect little bud vases?

7.  Are you ditching the four inchers for a pretty pair of ballet flats?

8.  Is your vow a handwritten love letter to your hubby? Complete with quotes from some of the songs most loved?

9.  Are you going for a cake that is either homemade or inspired by home grown design? Like yummy buttercream adorned with fresh flowers?

10. Have you found yourself buying burlap, raw linen, ribbon and lace in bulk even though you aren’t totally sure where it’s going to end up? And you just know it will be fabulous?

Well, then you just might be a Garden Bride.

Four Seasons Biltmore Wedding from enLuce + Imagine…Weddings & Special Events

What does a planner do when a bride comes to her and say she wants a traditional affair – but “not too traditional?” If the bride is lucky, Imagine…Weddings & Special Events, LLC looks here in the eye and says “We can do that.” Which is exactly how this gorgeous California affair started. The bride wanted something classic, with a modern, fun feel to it, and after spending lots of time with enLuce Photography‘s beautiful images, I totally feel it. It’s gorgeous, classy, with just the perfect amount of now. Check out the full image gallery, and you’ll see what I mean.

We met back in preschool, but did not know it.  After that, we met in high school, and then went our separate ways for 16 plus years, crossing paths here and there and seeing each other on holidays and mutual friends’ weddings.  A year and a half ago ago, his sister and another mutual friend planted the seeds in our head when I was gearing to move back to California and he was out of a long term relationship. We re-acquainted over Thanksgiving of 2009 and sparks flew!

Matt put the ring on my finger when I was sleeping one Saturday night.  I woke up and he was acting all funny.  I contemplated why, and for some reason looked at my hand and found the ring!

When we envisioned our wedding we wanted fun.  First and foremost. I wanted every person to have fun from start to finish.  I wanted classic, elegant, black tie.  Black tie affairs are so rare and I loved the idea of seeing our friends and family dressed up for a special occasion.  I saw lots of flowers and good lighting, but not too much going on.  Just classic, elegant, beautiful, soft colors.   We had great music. A traditional affair – but not too traditional!

Catherine Hill Bay Wedding by Jes Meacham

How adorable is this next couple?  I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people so excited to be married.  There is so much love and romance oozing out of every pretty, pretty image by Jes Meacham.  The casual, bohemian vibe is so perfect and all the little DIY details that these two created are just the sweetest.  I especially love the little lavender-filled heart pins the beautiful bride made for the groomsmen and the gorgeous handmade branch ceremony arch.  Click here to see it all!

From the Bride…Javed and I were married on December 4th, 2010 in a garden by the sea. We were married where he proposed – in an old mining town called Catherine Hill Bay (Catho) on the East Coast of Australia. He wrote a song for me and played it as I walked down the aisle on the arms of my parents. We said our vows under an arch and signed our papers at an old school desk. The boys wore handmade hearts filled with lavender (made by me) pinned to their shirts and I wore a circlet of  flannel flowers (native to the area) around my head. Our reception was in a magical marquee in our backyard. My wonderful dad had created a tree out of old branches that stood tall in the center of the marquee. It was covered in fairy lights and candles in jars hung from its branches. Beneath the tree were long banquet tables littered with candles and doilies and vases full of flowers.

We had a tapas style meal so that our guests could share platters of food and feast together. We didn’t have an MC as we wanted all of our friends and family to enjoy the evening without being stressed or anxious – we announced things as they happened throughout the night and began our reception with a toast to our guests. Our photobooth was one of the highlights of the night as was our wedding cake (made by my bridesmaid Alanna) and our first dance to The Nearness Of You – Ella Fitzgerald. We had rented most of the houses in the town for our guests and we snuck away to a cottage 3 houses away from the reception at around midnight and left our guests to dance the night away. We hosted a brunch the next morning for anyone who stayed in the village that night and sat around and held babies and ate pancakes in the sunshine.

Santa Barbara Ballroom Wedding by Sweet Emilia Jane

In keeping with our garden-inspired theme today, we wanted to show how details of the garden variety can be interpreted with a classic ballroom wedding. So many Bride and Grooms-to-be have not the luxury of amazing weather or a readily available outdoor venue but that doesn’t mean you can’t pull inspiration from a pretty, open-air oasis. This Santa Barbara wedding did just that. The flowers by the amazing Holly Flora look straight out of the backyard (albeit an incredibly gorgeous one), the details look effortless and so beautifully executed by our very own Sweet Emilia Jane (we’re proud as can be coworkers) and the photography by Bethany Belle has us letting out big ol’ collective sighs around the SMP office. This is a gorgeous interpretation of garden and one that Brides from any corner of this green Earth can pull ideas from. Get your fill of all the prettiness in the gallery.

From Sweet Emilia JaneBrooke and Michael are two of the sweetest, most good-humored, good-natured people I have ever met.  They compliment each other so well and the love between them is so incredible.  It was a joy to be a part of their wedding planning process and a part of their wedding day which was fabulous besides a few hiccups.  When it comes to style, however, they couldn’t be more different so finding a design that was a happy combination of both their unique tastes and preferences was not an easy task.  She is elegant, graceful and loves classic literature.  He is funny, boisterous and loves Star Wars.  They both knew they wanted something classic but that incorporated both their personalities.  As I got to know them better I discovered that both loved to travel and even blogged about their journeys.  Our design was influenced by both their love for literature and travel with a classic, vintage flair.

The entire event was supposed to occur outdoors with an intimate garden ceremony a private club followed by a rooftop reception overlooking Santa Barbara at The Canary Hotel.  Mother Nature had other plans for us, however, and, though we held off as long as we could, the rain brought us indoors.  The day of the wedding we moved furniture out of the lovely, historic ceremony venue to create space for 100 guests.  Holly Flora brought the garden inside with beautiful, colorful plants that we set along the aisle with moss and birch slices.

Umbrella in hand, we made our way over to the hotel where we had quickly adjusted our plans to recreate our rooftop reception in the ballroom.  The hotel is so gorgeous and our friends at LPBS did such an amazing job of lighting the space on such short notice that you would never known we had other plans for the venue.  We brought in luggage, a large, vintage map and personal books and furniture to create a warm, intimate atmosphere.  Holly Flora’s table arrangements were simply stunning.  The sun even came out for all the guests to enjoy the rooftop during sunset.

Farmer’s Market Engagement Session by Shannon Rosan Photography

This is the perfect engagement session to kick off the weekend.  Heading out for a farmer’s market date is one of my all-time favorite things to do and I love that this couple decided to incorporate a trip into their engagement photos by Shannon Rosan Photography.  They are just so perfect together and every moment of this shoot from the sunflower field to the romantic bike ride is as sweet as can be.  Click here to see it all!

From the Bride…We wanted to feel like our engagement photos really showed who we are.  Josh and I are both old souls, but with a modern flare. We love to bike around town, go to the weekly farmers markets, and pick fresh produce at the farm Josh works at. I wanted to give a vintage feel to our engagement photos, but without going overboard, so we combined our old-fashion side with our farmer/country side.  We incorporated two classic Schwinn bicycles that were handed down to Josh. The dress I was wearing I found at a vintage store in Amsterdam (where I use to live).  Our favorite Saturday morning activities are to ride our bikes to the farmers market, do a little thrift store shopping, and then come home where I enjoy baking with our fresh produce.

From the Bride… In the weeks leading up to my engagement to Jared, I already had wedding planning on my mind and began noticing and seeking out beautiful potential venues online.  I mentioned in passing to my mom that my ideal setting would be a Southern plantation with a picturesque mansion and grounds.  This would be simple enough if I hadn’t also always planned on getting married near my hometown in Central, Illinois.  My mom, already aware that Jared was planning on proposing soon, was a few steps ahead of me and had done some local research.  She pointed out that Allerton Park, only an hour away from my childhood hometown, had exactly the combination of beautiful formal gardens and a Georgian style mansion that I envisioned.  After browsing through a few pictures online, we concluded that Allerton was the perfect compromise of Central, Illinois and an elegant mansion wedding.  Luckily for me, the planning officially began a few days later when Jared proposed!

Because Jared and I both live in Chicago, my mom became our local wedding coordinator.  We both had the same vision for a wedding: classic, elegant and traditional.  We wanted to showcase the beauty of the gardens and mansion so we chose a palette of rich jewel tones with gold accents.  Given the elaborate gardens and traditional décor in the mansion, we were able to keep our added details simple.  The only place where I deviated from traditional was with my dress.  Thankfully, my Matron of Honor convinced me that if there is a day to wear a fluffy, feathery dress, it’s your wedding day.  After the reception was over and everyone had headed to bed in the mansion, Jared and I snuck downstairs to look around and there were little petals here and there as a memory of the night.

It was very important to us to acknowledge our families, especially my father who passed away three years ago.  My mom bought gold picture frames whenever she came across them and we used them to display pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days.  I also wore my dad’s wedding band throughout the day.  I associate rainbows with my dad because on the day of his visitation, there was a beautiful rainbow, a rarity for Illinois in November.  To incorporate this into the ceremony, during the unity candle lighting, the musicians played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and my aunt, my father’s sister, also, read an Irish Wedding Blessing, “For Every Storm, A Rainbow.”  One of the most special moments of the reception was when Jared and I danced our first dance to one of my dad’s favorite songs, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.  Jared and I took dancing lessons from Phillipa Tabachow of JiveRoc in the weeks leading up to the wedding.  We had a blast both practicing and surprising our guests with a choreographed dance.  After the first dance ended, we stayed on the dance floor the rest of the night surrounded by our friends and family.

Toronto Wedding by Mango Studios and Melissa Andre Events

Good morning, SMP Canada! Before we leave you for the weekend we just had to share this super cute and vintage chic wedding by none other than Mango Studios. We’re loving that this graphic designer bride designed her own invites complete with feathers and jewels and that she bought each of her bridesmaids the most sparkle-y heels. From the flower girls to the out of this world florals, this wedding is certainly becoming a fast favorite. See even more here!

Click here to see the entire gallery of images!

From the Bride…We came up with three words to describe our wedding (memorable, personal, creative – with a modern vintage feel) and we had to find the perfect vendors to match this vision. We found Mango Studios to do our photography. We loved their style, the tones they use in the photography I knew would work amazing with our color choices of yellow and grey and the mood we wanted to create. They also had an amazing Smilebooth. The smilebooth was a hit and was incorporated into the wedding favors. Everyone got a mirror picture frame with a special note instead telling them that their picture will be mailed to them (with the thank you cards). The photos were also used as a guestbook – side-by-side with little notes the guests wrote and placed in an over-sized martini glass on the guestbook table. The guestbook table also had wedding photos of our parents.

My shoes were shipped from Nordstrom, I didn’t get to try them on but it worked out perfectly anyway! The bright yellow and jewels in the shoe were perfect. My bridesmaids got a treat as well, I wanted their shoe to be unique and wearable after the wedding and we found these shoes from Lost Soles, made by Naughty Monkey. The yellow is fantastic and the pattern of the other colors adds a spark! Every shoe had a different pattern.

The flower girls were in custom dresses, they were meant to have the same light weight material and flow as bridesmaids dresses. Their headpieces were from Gardens of Whimsy on Etsy.

The florist I chose is a hot new florist in Toronto, Coriander Girl. I found her style so unique and what a cute bubbly personality she has! I met with her and poured out all the details. She came up with yellow calalilies for the bridesmaids and incorporated lamb’s ears to my bouquet because they had a grey tone. The lamb’s ears are so soft and furry I couldn’t stop touching it.

I am a graphic designer, and I was able to add a lot of personal touches. The theater allowed us to have posters outside and I created two posters – one for the groomsmen and the bridesmaids. The groomsmen was “Usual Suspects” shot in Steve’s basement. The guys were all assigned a role and even dressed the part! The bridesmaids poster was a vintage movie called ” The Women” and I had my cousin photograph us at my bridal shower which was a 50s housewife theme. (side note: The bridal shower had a Elvis Presley performance!!)

For entertainment we had a magician for cocktail hour. We also prepared a movie interview style video which replaced speeches. The bridal party all met at our house and were filmed individually in a question/answer format with the movie posters in the background. There were three flower girls that I just had to give some video time to too so they did the intro to the bridal bouquet ‘date night’ package toss. They made their own music video to Beyonce’s single ladies video. They looked so cute in their polka dotted dressed from the bridal shower.

The invites were also designed by myself, including a feather, yellow jewel and the rest all grey to follow the themes. The same ‘look’ applied to movie theater tickets for the place setting cards, signage, and the church booklets I put together.  In the booklets I found these tissues with a bride and groom and yellow flowers that were perfect to put into a pocket. I made a logo with our names and had it made into a stamp so I could put it on anything! The centerpieces were lamps.

Austin Wedding by Jennifer Lindberg Weddings + Brock + Co. Events + Last Petal

From Brock + Co. EventsWhen we first started designing Rachel + Dale’s Austin wedding weekend, they gave us two photos for inspiration, and the task of making it “shabby chic, but not Austin Hippie.” I think she may have said she liked orange. Other than that, they were a total open book — we love that! With her wedding day vision in mind, there was no better place for a Fall wedding than the gorgeous Laguna Gloria, overlooking Lake Austin. Beautiful trees, crisp Fall weather, lots of Austin history and to-die-for scenery welcomed wedding guests, who had traveled from Seattle, the East Coast and beyond. To celebrate Fall, we used a rich palette of persimmon, tangerine and chocolate. Natural woods, burlap and loads of textural flowers provided visual interest. And a fun pop of bright teal and hints of gold and copper created an unexpected twist to a traditional Fall color palette.

Rachel, her close friends and mom started their wedding day with lots of pampering at Austin’s chic Hotel St Cecelia. Rachel’s Enzoani gown was perfectly paired with Vera Wang pumps and a sparkly hair fascinator. Rachel’s Maid of Honor wore a teal silk dress, which allowed her vibrant orchid-filled bouquet to pop.

The couples ceremony was a blend of Jewish traditions, with one of Rachel’s chaplain colleagues performing their interfaith ceremony. Overlooking Lake Austin, and under a traditional chuppah, the two said “I do” with their closest friends and family in attendance. Their chuppah was constructed with natural curly willow and adorned with the hues of a sunset — orange mokara orchids, bittersweet and berries. A natural wood aisle runner graced the aisle.

Cocktail hour featured a Prosecco bar with blood orange, raspberry and peach purees, as well as delicious seasonal nibbles and steaming cups of butternut squash bisque. Guests enjoyed the sounds of a jazz trio and the beauty of the Austin as the sun set over Lake Austin.

Guests were then moved to the dinner tent, overlooking the historic Driscoll Villa, to enjoy “Comfort Chic” cuisine in true Texas style. Tables were adorned with boxes of rich florals, textural accents and named after all the locations that family had traveled to Austin from. Teal table runners, chocolate hemstitch napkins and gold rim chargers set the table in style. In a nod to the Groom’s Washington family and Brides’ Austin roots, a duo of apple and pecan mini pies were served for dessert. Topped with a scoop of Amy’s Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream, the non-traditional dessert was a huge hit. The father of the bride was surprised with his own wedding cake (he was shocked that the couple said “no cake”) during the champagne toast.

Guests danced the night away under floral chandeliers to the sounds of Austin’s popular Blind Date band. Mexican hot chocolate, pashmina blankets, a comfy lounge area and a French macaron sweets bar warmed up guests during the first cold spell of the year.

Puerto Rico Wedding by Ambrosio Photography + Elegant Occasions

I’m totally head over heels for this tropical and romantic fete. I love the simplicity of the monochromatic florals and their incredible impact on the tables surrounded by the white chairs and gorgeously draped white fabric overhead. The romance and drama continued into the night with candle lit dining and a gorgeous sunset. And when the bride and groom had their first dance, all the guests were surprised by a pretty, pretty firework display. We’re talking pure romance from beginning to end thanks to Elegant Occasions. Ambrosio Photography captured all the details and I highly recommend checking out the full gallery for this one!

From Ambrosio PhotographyLeAnn and Bernard chose Vieques because of the ease of access and being a U.S. territory. The W does a wonderful job at transporting you to some place new, a place that is relaxing. Elegant Occasions helped design and produce elevated flowers on boxes that glow. This helped create a romantic feeling for the two long tables. LeAnn was all about the details.

The day before the wedding, everyone went on a Biobay tour. For the day of the wedding, the beautiful town’s church hosted the ceremony. LeAnn hired the local high school marching band to lead the bridal party and guests out of the church. She did this because in high school she was in marching band! Cocktail hour consisted of over-looking the beautiful sun setting. Another surprise for the guests was as the couple started their first dance, there was a fireworks display.

Preppy Inspiration Shoot by Jubilee Events + Carla Ten Eyck + Datura – A Modern Garden

There is no denying I love all things Ocean House. I may or may not have hosted my very special day there, and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that magic happens in that pretty yellow place. So when I stumbled on this piece of preppy perfection from Jubilee Events, I just got a little excited. Just a little. OK, a lot. From Jubilee EventsWe had so much fun designing this brightly colored, playful and fun styled shoot inspired by croquet! In shades of coral, bright blue and grey, we drew inspiration from the vintage croquet set I picked up at a flea market in Massachusetts. Some of my favorite details from this shoot are the groom’s seersucker J. Crew suit with a pocket square designed by Datura: A Modern Garden which is made from rose petals and lillies of the valley! I also love the stellar paper from Coral Pheasant, especially our “bow tie” paper details on the champagne glasses, accordion fold menu cards and  intricate favor boxes.

Our tablescape was draped in a gorgeous coral pea de soie linen with clean and modern ghost chairs from Rentals Unlimited. Datura: A Modern Garden created a dramatic floral centerpiece using old, vintage marble lamp bases. We played on our theme of prep and used bow ties in the paper and real ties as chair decor.

From the Bride… The thing that made our wedding most beautiful are the people. Having all of our family and friends there with so much love, support and encouragement is something we are truly thankful for. It was the most beautiful day…to walk down the aisle, and for the first time that day, seeing the man I love, my better half, with tears of joy and a smile of an angel. Everything was just perfect from that moment on.

Nate and I wanted a cozy little wedding away from the city (he’s from NY and I’m from CA). We wanted a venue that would allow us do a lot of our own decorations and personalization. Naturally the Huntcliff River Club in Sandy Springs, GA was a perfect pick for us. Beautifully situated next to the Chattanooga River, the ceremony playground was tucked away under four large 100-year-old Oak trees. Just the perfect amount of shade for a warm September day in Georgia. The reception was nested on the second floor inside the club house, overlooking the ceremony site and the river. It was so peaceful and serene, it was our little tree house.

The best part in planning our wedding was getting the opportunity to bond and learn about each other. We DIY’d (Do-It-Yourself) everything we could because we want all the personal touches for our wedding. I also really enjoy making things, and Nate, believe it or not, enjoys helping. We made a perfect team!

Although we had a year to plan, boy did time fly! It started from finding a perfect venue and narrowing down all of our vendors (Google became our best friend), to creating all the little details such as our save the dates, the invitations, our cupcake tower, our CD favors, our moss covered initials, candy buffet accessories, ceremony programs, dinner menus, escort cards, table numbers, and arranging the ceremony and reception flowers. I must admit at times, it was overwhelming and it’s definitely not easy planning from across the country (California –> Georgia). However, it was well worth all of the time and efforts, because when we look back, we know we put a lot of our love into what we will call the “best day of our lives!”

Costa Rica Garden Wedding from Ale Sura Photography

Who would have thought when you logged into Style Me Pretty this morning that you’d be spending your day in Costa Rica? When Ale Sura Photography sent over a phenom, colorful Costa Rican wedding, I knew I just had to share it with all my favorite LBBers. Seriously, this wedding is so amazing, from the soft rosy glow encompassing the whole day to the fantastically bright and delicious looking candy buffet. And of course, every detail in between. I am so going to shut off my phone for a little while and spend some time imagining I’m at this wedding – complete with the warm Costa Rican weather, and the company of that gorgeous bride and her yummy groom. Good thing there is even more in the full image gallery!

Rich and I have always been an extroverted couple and with very different tastes. When we got engaged, we knew that our wedding had to show our personalities and our life style. Our parents had a little trouble trying to understand our taste for colors and decoration since they were used to the traditional white-and-silver wedding. However, they accepted our ideas and… we got down into business!

We believe that when God brings two people together, He takes care of every little detail, and that happened with our wedding.  We knew that we wanted an colorful, outdoor wedding in the morning. The flowers and the paper lamps were simple but elegant. The candy bar was our main challenge, but with our friends’ help,  we had it perfect! The cake (the cherry on top) had to reflect our personalities.  Rich is a drummer, and I have always admired his passion to play the drums, so we decided to have a fun and personal cake topper. We loved how it looked at the end!

Finally, one of the biggest decisions: pictures! They’re the memories of unique moments in life, so it was necessary to hire someone who knows how to capture what’s behind the wedding…  love, emotions, and the best feelings in that special day! Ale Sura was perfect.

The Red Pheasant Wedding by Katie Pietrowski Photography

I’m pretty sure that this is the sweetest and coolest garden themed DIY wedding of all time. First off, how amazing is the location? The bride’s family owns the restaurant, a 200 year old converted barn, that’s been in business for over thirty years on Cape Cod. Both the gorgeous coral napkins and the mini mercury glass votives were made especially for the bride by her colleagues in India. Her mom grew most of the flowers that were arranged to look “wild” and the bride, along with help from her sister, made all the save the dates, place cards and invites. They even embossed the invites with gold wax. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we found the next Martha! Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, she then slipped on the most perfect dress and did not let the threat of hurricane Irene ruin her day at all. Katie Pietrowski Photography snapped gorgeous image after gorgeous image and trust me when I say, you definitely want to spend a little time in the full gallery this morning! And make sure to check back because we’re bringing you more gorgeous garden inspiration all afternoon…

From the Bride…Steve and I wanted to have a small wedding, that felt personal and true to who we are.  We decided to have the wedding at my parent’s restaurant, in the building where I grew up.  My grandfather and dad started the restaurant and it felt like the perfect place to have our wedding.  Having grown up in a restaurant, I love food, as does Steve.  We both felt that the food was an important part of the evening- and knew it would be amazing at the restaurant.  The big thing was making sure my dad wouldn’t be in the kitchen, and would be enjoying the night!  We had a raw bar during cocktail hour with delicious Cape Cod oysters.

As a textile and home product designer, I wanted to add a few small touches to the night.  I travel to India for my work, and the people I work with there are really amazing.  They all wanted to help me in any way they could.  I decided to have napkins made on a cotton-slub fabric in 3 shades of coral, each with a different hemstitch detail.  I was also able to have mercury glass votives made, which worked really well with the small vases of flowers. My mom helped track down lots of vintage hollow stem wine glasses for the flowers.  She found them at thrift stores, and it was really an affordable option as none of them cost more than $1 a piece.  My mom grew a lot of flowers in her garden, and we supplemented those with loose dahlia flowers from Meredith Fancy. We wanted to keep things fairly simple, and easy to put together the day before the wedding.  We added in table number to some of the vases that were purchased from BHLDN.  We also got my bouquet from Meredith Fancy.  I had found inspiration images for my bouquet on design sponge’s ‘we like it wild’ posts by studio choo.  Overall I wanted the flowers to feel like wild flowers.

The finishing touch for decorating the restaurant was papel picado banners.  I had seen them in the lovely bridal boutique, and my boss’s daughter had ordered them for her wedding as well.  I loved that they could be personalized, and added a light airy feeling to the restaurant. I designed the save the dates, invitations, and place cards.  I hand-painted some of the text and scanned it into the computer.  Steve helped me cut everything, and my mom helped me assemble.  My older sister Grace is very crafty (she has a blog stripesandsequins.com) and taught me how to use a glue gun for sealing wax.  We used baker’s twine around a piece of craft paper and sealed it all with gold wax embossed with an A.  The most time consuming part was hand painting all of the addresses, but I love how it all came out in the end.

I wanted a wedding dress where I still felt like myself- romantic, yet modern.  We wanted a somewhat casual wedding, and I found the perfect dress at Tibi, and then found an amazing pair of Miu Miu shoes.  My amazing friend Sarah Laskow made my headpiece and sash.  She is a very talented embellishment designer currently working at Alice and Olivia.

Our wedding, despite being threatened by Hurricane Irene, was a perfect day.  It had the personal touches we had hoped for, and the things we hadn’t gotten to we didn’t notice.  We felt so happy to celebrate our relationship with our friends and family, and we knew those that couldn’t make it were there in spirit.

Groomsmen + Bieber = Awesome

After an INSANELY gorgeous wedding by JAC Photography filled with beautiful details, lovely flowers and the like, we thought it would be fun to finish things off with a dance…Bieber style. I never thought I would utter those words on SMP but this is such a fun moment caught by studio 205, we just had to share. Trust me when I say this film and the Groom’s dance skills are all sorts of AH-MAZ-ING.
