It’s no surprise these nuptials took place in LA; the pics by Docuvitae are straight out of a Hollywood classic. From the Bride’s gorgeous Grace Kelly inspired gown to the collection of unique rentals (courtesy of Archive Rentals, Casa de Perrin and Found Vintage Rentals), we declare this one must-see celebration, all thanks to Gather Events and all the sparkle they spread – see more in our Vault this way!

From Gather Events… Built in 1927, the Ebell of Los Angeles gives one the feeling of stepping back in time. Our design inspiration brought us to a bygone era of elegance and decadence. Taking cues from both the French Victorian era and America in the early 1900s, we used a soft palette of pastels and incorporated engraved and hand calligraphed paper goods, romantic, textured florals and vintage lounge furniture and dishware.
Every carefully curated detail had its roots in the past, from Panni’s collection of vintage love letters that sat atop each place setting to the tarnished metal vessels used for the centerpieces to the vintage cake topper.
Panni looked to the past for wedding gown inspiration, using Grace Kelly’s wedding gown as a basis for her dress choice, the Marchesa gown she chose and modified, traditional vintage elements with a modern twist.
The ceremony incorporated both a sofreh and a chuppah to honor the bride’s and groom’s cultural and religious traditions. It was adorned with lush, cascading florals and an abundance of edible offerings. Post-ceremony, Panni and Justin stole away, through a lavender-toss send-off, to a vintage Rolls Royce to have some alone time before the reception.
Early 1900s cabaret and jazz tunes from the live band filled the air during cocktail hour. The 230 guests dined and danced in the beautiful theater. The after-dinner absinthe cart and whiskey station were just a few of the special treats created for the guests. The dessert table was overflowing with French-inspired delicacies and a gorgeous 5-tier cake. Guests danced well into the night and enjoyed the old-timey Man in the Moon photo booth.
It was an opulent affair with many heartfelt, personal touches.
From the Bride… Justin and I were good friends before anything even happened. Our epic romance began two years later as any proper one does, with a natural disaster. Hurricane Sandy hit New York in 2012. With no electricity and no water I was forced uptown. As luck would have it, I ended up a mere two blocks away from where he lived. It had to be fate (more likely a coincidence – New York is a very small city). Either way, I knew that it was time to make my move. I must have Facebook message-ed at least three times. Each time I was disappointingly brushed off. But I was relentless, he was the one I was 100% sure. I was not going to let this one go. I think he finally felt a little sorry (he claims no) and agreed to a drink. A year later we were engaged.
We were getting ready for bed and he began asking like any other question… I turned around and there he was… the man of my dreams on one knee, he was holding this antique heart ring box. That alone made me melt. Inside was the most beautiful ring that I had ever seen in my life. He asked and I just stared at him, he had taken my breath away. Of course I said yes and the rest is history!
My favorite wedding memory: I’m Persian, so it was pretty crowded in the bridal suite. Everyone – my mom, eleven bridesmaids, even my aunt and uncle were all there. My dad and I have been best friends since I can remember, he is and will always be my number one man. It was 15 minutes before the ceremony when I realized that my dad was missing! All of sudden I burst into tears. Of course he arrived seconds later, typical dad he had left his bow tie at home. I was so happy to see him that I almost forgot about Justin! I think that he may have secretly enjoyed it, just for a second. ;)
Our design inspiration: I’m a painter, I create these very lush, soft, and decadent worlds in my work. I have collections of antique hand mirrors, bridal crowns in their original boxes (I wore a Victorian orange blossom crown), textiles and laces etc. I wanted the wedding to feel like you were walking into one of my paintings.
We made some decisions that were very special and meaningful to us…
The Ebell of Los Angeles is a place my family has been coming to enjoy theater for as long as I can remember. I have always loved the idea of getting married here and my dream came true when we discovered it truly was the perfect place to achieve our wedding vision.
We chose to honor our most flowery friend with the position of Flower Girl. She may not have been a three year old little girl (in fact, she is a grown woman), but we thought she looked as adorable with her flower crown and basket of petals all the same.
We absolutely had to incorporate our beautiful Australian shepherd, Estella, into our wedding so she was a member of our bridal processional. She is a true lady deserved flowers of her own. Kim from Art and Nature created the loveliest wreath fit for a queen, and a pink ribbon leash to match!
I’ve been collecting vintage ribbon for ages and wanted to incorporate it into my day. My design team used it for styling the event spaces and had it wrapped around my beautiful bouquet. It was a small element, but was very important to me and made me happy to see it everywhere on my wedding day.
We met and spent our first few years as a couple together in New York. Justin is a real Brooklyn kid at heart. As a nod to our old town and one of Justin’s favorite Brooklyn bars, we offered up whiskey and pickle backs after dinner. It was a big hit with the crowd! My all-time favorite macarons are from the French patisserie, Ladurée. I loved visiting the New York shop when I lived there. For our special day, we had the most beautiful boxes of macaron favors flown in from New York. It made my heart sing to share one of my favorite things with our guests.
Our advice to couples planning their weddings now: Choose a wedding planner who gets you. You have to work with someone who understands your vision 100%. It’s a real team effort. I was constantly handing her giant, unorganized piles of ideas and she was the ultimate editor. Second, do not stress about the tiny little details. Trust your instincts and what you like.

Pour your honey into your jars and secure.
Wrap the top of the handle (near the dipper) with the center of your baker’s twine and knot. You should have two long pieces of bakers twine draped on either side.
Place a glue dot on one edge of your honey dipper and secure it to the lid, closest to the hinge.
Gently open the lid and wrap one side (we did the left) of the baker’s twine under the hinge and around the lid, bringing it back to the front of the dipper and tying in a knot, then a bow. Trim the ends.
Let the cord drape with the other ribbons. Trim your ribbons if needed.
Use shot glasses or a great vial holder to display!
