Chicago Wedding at Fulton’s on the River from Erica Rose Photography

From the moment we met this sweet duo back in January (their engagement session was epic), we knew their wedding was going to be seriously stunning.  The kind of seriously stunning that mixes glamorous details and heartwarming moments at every turn of the way.  And you know what?  We were sooo right, because this is a wedding that basically screams chic and you can see every last amazing moment (and there are a lot of them) captured by Erica Rose right here in the full gallery.

From Erica Rose… Diana & Brett are two of those people who make everything seem effortless… everything about their day was perfect but the cherry on top is how sweet and fun these two are as people.

Every choice that Diana (& Brett!) made in planning this wedding came together to execute the most gorgeous Chicago wedding imaginable. Words can’t really do this wedding justice, that is what pictures are for.

Brett & Diana’s engagement session was featured on SMP last Fall, and I STILL get emails from people who saw that session and loved it!

Master Bathroom Design Tips from Urban Grace

Now that we’re well equipped to tackle all things master bedroom, we asked Erika  to dig deep into the world of master bathrooms. Read on to find out where you can save, where you should splurge, and a few little tricks that make a really big difference.

SMP: One thing you always convince your clients to splurge on?

UG: Plumbing fixtures. Selecting plumbing fixtures is the most exciting part of the entire design process for me. They can completely change the feel of the space and a high quality fixture will last forever.

SMP: One small change that makes a big impact in a bathroom:

UG: Heated floors. Nobody likes stepping onto a freezing cold tile floor first thing in the morning.

SMP: Any tips on personalizing a bathroom in a rental home?

UG: Art and monogrammed towels. Art is an easy way to personalize any space. It has a way of making you feel at home and is a great way to cover up those walls you can’t paint!

SMP: What’s the best bathroom you ever designed?

UG: I’m in love with my new master bathroom (we just recently added onto our home). I took all my favorite design elements from every bathroom I’ve designed. The tub has a heated backrest, and there’s a TV at one end, so once I get my babies to bed I can relax in the tub and watch TV. We have an in shower mirror that is heated so it never steams or fogs up, my husband loves this for shaving in the shower. The shower door has a transom above it so I can take a steamy shower with the transom closed, or tilt it to let the steam escape. Simple things that I’ve taken from other projects really make this space the most functional for our family.

top-tips

1. Keep the look simple, fresh, and clean.

2. Choose classic materials and colors for the big-ticket items like tile and stone. Have fun with the things you can easily change, like paint, so if you tire of them they can easily be changed.

3. Choose plumbing fixtures from a reputable company. You want to spend money on fixtures that will last.

4. White towels. They look clean, crisp, and never go out of style.

5. Display the everyday items in pretty little containers – soaps, cotton balls, and q-tips can stay out on the counter and be pretty.

Bohemian Engagement Session from Nadia Hung Photography

Before I get into how much I adore this engagement session from Nadia Hung Photography, I simply must tell you that it’s not a photo shoot. I know it looks practically perfect, and that floral crown from The Flower Factory is to die for, but these two gorgeous lovebirds are indeed as real as they come. And this engagement session? It’s as amazing as they come. See it all here.

From Nadia HungSarah and I started brainstorming our inspiration board around two months ago on pinterest and we were so happy to see how our pins are very similar in style. We wanted to do a bohemian session with bright natural sunlight and floral headdress. We wanted to style the shoot ourselves and started to come up with props that matched the bohemian feel. I was in awe to hear that Sarah made those beautiful antlers herself! Gloral from The Flower Factory collaborated with us on all the florals. The pastel colours of the floral headdress matched Sarah’s soft natural look and the bouquet reminded me of a hot summer day.

A lot of work went behind this session and I was totally in love with the Teepee while Sarah & Ryan set it up pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It was a warm autumn day that almost felt like summer and it went perfectly with the theme. I loved how Sarah dreamt up this concept and ran with it, she painted the antlers, made the teepee and styled her own outfit. The photos turned out exactly how I envisioned it; soft, dreamy and natural. It didn’t take much to capture their love, they were the sweetest couple. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in Tulum next May, it’ll be nothing short of extraordinary I am sure!

Punta Cana Wedding from Weddings Romantique + Joseph Lin Photography

A three day wedding weekend in Punta Cana sounds amazing as it is, but when that wedding is planned and designed by Weddings Romantique? Well, that just ups the ante on the pretty factor. It will only take one peek at the images below from Joseph Lin Photography to see why this wedding just had to grace the pages of SMP Destination, and there is even more lovely sitting right here.

From Suha Pressey at Weddings RomantiqueVeronica and Justin hosted a unique and fun destination wedding celebration in Punta Cana Dominican Republic, they wanted to celebrate their wedding with family in an all-inclusive resort so their family can relax and enjoy themselves when they arrived at the resort.

They wanted to welcome their guests and thank them for join them in their celebrations so I helped them plan a three day event for their guests. They had a gorgeous pool welcome party at a very elegant private pool at the resort, where all the ladies were beautiful white dresses and the men were stylish white shirt and pants. They made welcome bags for all their guest to thank them for being part of their wedding celebration. Veronica and Justin decided to surprise the guests at the end of the party by jumping in the pool to start of their wedding weekend celebration!

The wedding ceremony was held on the beach which provided a beautiful natural backdrop for the ceremony, Veronica wanted elegant all white flowers for the ceremony decorations, the arch and aisle design was elegant and chic which highlighted the gorgeous turquoise ocean and white sand on the beach. She chose elegant lavender and purple for her bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen had a chic white suite with lavender and pink ties that complemented the bridesmaids dresses. Both Veronica and Justin wanted to have all the elements formal black tie reception so they chose to host their reception in an elegant ballrooms with chic all white flowers centerpieces for reception with touches of lavender in the napkins, white draping and lavender up lightning. Veronica added her own personal touches to the reception design by painting her table numbers silver and lavender and created her own escort cards in the same colors. They had another surprise for their guests at reception with Dominican Costume Folkloric Group show which was a lot fun and got of the guests on the dance floor to dance with them!

They hosted a farewell brunch for their guest at another beautiful terrace overlooking the turquoise water where they thanked their guest again for joining them in celebrating their wedding. Veronica and Justin are a very special couple and I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of their destination wedding planning. I enjoyed helping create a stylish wedding and memorable weekend.

Late Summer Anniversary Session from Loft Photographie LLC

Let’s face it: anniversary sessions are awesome.  They just so happen to be the perfect way to celebrate your love with your Mr. or Mrs., and when they are captured by the likes of the oh-so-talented Loft Photographie, well… even better.  Because this is a day that is the loveliest combo of seriously fun and totally pretty and you can see every magic-filled moment right here in the full gallery.

From Loft Photographie What better way to celebrate an anniversary than with a portrait session? We may be biased as photographers, but we know Calli & Josh agree with us! We spent a late summer evening roaming the downtown square of San Marcos, Texas with this pair, and we could not have asked for a more relaxed, easy-going session! And because Josh is a bicycle junkie, it just made sense to include his fancy vintage bike in a few shots. We adore this urban session, Calli & Josh’s dapper style, and their blonde locks!

Romantic September Wedding in Atlanta from Altmix Photography

This is the type of wedding I dream about. Timeless and stunning, it’s absolute perfection from start to finish all captured beautifully by Altmix Photography. From the Bride’s stunning Jenny Packham gown to one of the most gorgeous ballrooms I’ve ever seen overflowing with flowers from Britt Wood Designs – this gallery is just a dream come true. See it all here.

From the Bride… Rob and I met in NYC almost 5 years ago, and we knew from those first few minutes that our lives would never be the same again. Two days later he flew back home to Los Angeles. We talked on the phone every day for three months, until I packed my bags and stepped on a plane bound for LAX. Being that we’re best friends, we haven’t been apart since. Rob’s work in the film industry brought us to Atlanta almost three years ago and we fell absolutely in love with the charm and hospitality of the South. When Rob proposed on a crisp and bright February morning, it quickly became clear that a beautiful destination wedding would be just the right thing to connect our friends on both coasts and to introduce them to our Atlanta home. We envisioned an intimate magical wedding filled with dancing, singing, and love.

I wish it was easy to pick our favorite part of the day, but there are just so many highlights that stand out. My mom has been my biggest supporter my entire life, so it was incredible to be able to hold on to her as she walked me down the aisle. I must say that I when I saw Rob in his tuxedo, I almost lost it right there and then. Thankfully at that moment, my gorgeous cathedral length silk tulle veil- beaded by the fabulous Nicholas Kniel- got stuck behind me. I couldn’t help cracking a smile after that! Right before Rob stepped on the wedding glass (as per Jewish custom), our Rabbi looked thoughtfully at him and said “Well, I guess this is the last time you’ll get to put your foot down…it’s a little sexist, but ehhh, I’m going with it!” Our ceremony was filled with laughter, meaning and warmth, and at the end of our vows, the best piece of advice we received was “don’t forget to say ‘I Love You’ every single day”.

The moment we first saw our reception ballroom, covered in flowers, I teared up a little. We love flowers and I had asked our florist to bring a garden inside, and he did just that. It was like stepping into a dream. Garlands of greenery with ivory roses and candles…oh my. We chose an old Russian pop song for our first dance called “A Million Red Roses”. Both being romantics at heart, we fell in love with the lyrics that tell the story of a man so in love with a beautiful actress that he sells everything he owns to buy her a million roses as a symbol of his devotion.

As the libations flowed and our guests partook in the delicious meals that SIMB cooked, the dance floor opened up and it was only a matter of time before our amazing friends and family performed some of the best dancing (and singing!) outside of a pop concert. The evening could not have gone off as perfectly as it did without the help of our coordinator, Amy. She kept us sane and on track through the whole wedding planning process, her calmness and professionalism was above and beyond. Seeing the photos that Kate and Matt Altmix took brought the memory of the whole evening flooding back, their work is really something special. The night goes by so quickly, and they were able to capture of the beauty and joy of it so well in their photographs. It was truly a magical night.

Peaks Island, Maine Wedding from Lara Kimmerer Photography

Today we’re taking a quick little jaunt to the lovely little state of Maine, a place where weddings expertly merge preppy and seriously sophisticated in some of the prettiest days you will ever see.  Days like this one styled to perfection by Daisies & Pearls and featuring yummy treats from The Black Tie Co and fab paper goods from Chelsey Emery.  Basically, it’s a non-stop day of pretty and you can see it all captured by Lara Kimmerer right here in the full gallery.

Sarah and Patrick chose Peaks Island as the backdrop for their Maine beach-inspired wedding, because, as Patrick explained, “I could sit in a chair and look at the ocean for hours.” Harborview at Jones Landing offered the best seats in the house for just that. The day was beautifully captured by Lara Kimmerer.

Chelsey Emery designed the wedding stationery suite in a sea glass palette. The motif S + P was a design element applied throughout the day.

Guests arrived on Peaks Island via Casco Bay Ferry and found their way to the fte with the assistance of a S + P floral wreath crafted by Marianmade Farm. Family and friends sipped blueberry lemonade through paper straws in the Maine summer sun, while waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Marianmade Farm also designed gorgeous floral arrangements, bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres using shades of yellow, white and pink. Sarah’s bouquet featured daisies and yellow roses which were the same flowers her mother and Patrick’s mother carried on their wedding day. The bouquet was adorned with silver heart lockets with photos of the couples grandparents. The bridal party carried bouquets of daisies and pops of fresh lavender which coordinated beautifully with their mermaid teal dresses. The Bride and Groom’s pup, Izzy, the extra special member of the wedding party, wore a floral collar around her neck. The gentleman sported bright craspedia boutonnires to complement their linen suits and sea glass color ties.

Guests grabbed ceremony programs from a beach wood basket on their way to their seats along the shore of the island. A white arbor adorned with floral design by Marianmade Farm served as the alter with scenic views of the Portland skyline and Casco Bay.

After Sarah and Patrick said “I do,” the celebration was in full swing with a cocktail social by The Black Tie Co. Guests not only enjoyed refreshing cocktails and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres but photo booth fun. A lobster trap held a multi-purpose, as a wedding card holder and display for escort cards. Wine cork buoys directed guests where to sit. Arriving at their table, guests discovered a rustic Maine beach tablescape designed by daisies & pearls. Sarahs mother exercised her amazing sewing skills crafting table runners and numbers from repurposed Coffee by Design burlap coffee sacks. The table numbers were displayed in glass bottles and accompanied by drift wood, beach bottles filled with native Maine flowers and rope knotted votives. The Bride and Groom were seated at their own sweetheart table where the S + P motif was visible. The rustic Maine beach theme carried over to other event elements including the dinner buffet right down to the flatware.

Before sunset Sarah and Patrick snuck away to capture the days last sunlight with Lara, leaving guests salivating over the delectable dessert table created by Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott, which was devoured immediately upon their return. Guests were treated to the sounds of The Tony Boffa Band as they danced the night away before bidding farewell to the Newlyweds with a sparkler send off.

Annapolis Naval Academy Wedding from Natalie Franke Photography

The first thing on the agenda today is to wish you all, especially you military loves, a happy Veteran’s Day. We want to thank each and every one of our military members, past and present, and their families for their service, and we’re starting to spread the love thick with these two. Sarah and Walter met while he was at the Naval Academy and got through his second deployment the best way I could imagine… by planning this beautiful wedding! Captured by Natalie Franke Photography, the wedding is everything we could possibly imagine to honor a day like today… love, laughter, and so much pretty.

If you like that… you’re going to LOVE this video from Clickspark!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/79081892 600 338]

From the beautiful bride… Walter and I met back in 2008 while he was attending the Naval Academy. Five years later we returned to Annapolis to say “I Do.” Our vision for the wedding was nautical chic; however, we wanted to keep it casual and intimate. When we found the Anchor Inn, we immediately kenw that this was the right venue for us. It fit our vision perfectly and provided us with that relaxed elegance we were searching for. The Anchor Inn is a hidden gem tucked away on the Chesapeake Bay. Three sides of the building are surrounded by water, so the ballroom actually sits just above the waves.

Walter and I had a two year engagement because of Walter’s deployment. Because of that, I was blessed with a long time to plan (well as much time as you can get while going to law school!). I relied heavily on Pinterest to keep track of all my ideas and I lived on Style Me Pretty. However, my vision would never have come to life without my phenomenal vendors. There are no words to describe how amazing our photographer Natalie Franke was! I can’t decide what is more remarkable: her talent or her warm personality. You really feel like you are working with a close friend. She is a dream photographer and I felt honored to have her as our wedding photographer. Lee Morton of Clickspark was another incredible vendor. Lee’s passion for what he does pours out in his work. We really felt like we had the “dream team” with Natalie and Lee. We are so thrilled to be able to look back at these memories, as they captured them, over the years. Katie of Petal & Print makes the most gorgeous flower arrangements. I really wanted beautiful, but simple, floral arrangements and she definitely came through for us!

There were also many DIY projects that my family and friends helped me with . My mother drove around to various antique stores in Rhode Island to purchase all the centerpiece jars and she also made the watercolor escort cards. My amazing Matron of Honor, Bekah Kane, made the nautical ceramic pieces displaying an anchor and Maryland blue crab. She also made the Mr. & Mrs. ceramic chair signs. One of my favorite pieces is the beautiful wooden memory box that we used for both our card box and guest book photos. The box was built by my stepfather of Sabella Handcrafted in Jamestown, R.I. It was really incredible to look around at the details and see traces of our loved ones.

Americana Wedding from Brooke Courtney Photography

I have my own special Veteran at home; my dear, sweet husband. So I know all too well how important and special this day is and in honor of all the service men and women who have so bravely served for our country we wanted to celebrate you in true SMP style; with a wedding that embodies all things Americana. It’s a red, white and blue extravaganza captured by Brooke Courtney Photography and you can see even more right here in the full gallery.

From the Bride… At Temple University, Kyle & I made what seemed like a simple decision that had a huge impact on our lives. We decided to take a dance class. It filled some University requirements and Kyle thought he would be able to meet girls in a dance class. Kyle Burns is a smart man. At first, I only noticed Kyle a little bit. Kyle spent the first few weeks ruling out all the girls he didn’t want to dance with. I was obviously in his “to dance with” list. After a few weeks, it was time to study swing dancing and we needed partners. Most students had friends in the class, but we looked around in search of an adequate partner. Our eyes met, we pointed at each other and with that silent agreement, something divine happened.

We danced, and talked, and may have flirted a little bit. At one point, the professor instructed everyone to switch partners, but Kyle & I looked at each other and shook our heads at the same time. We were perfectly fine where they were. As we walked out of class at the end of the night, we were talking about where we lived. I was a junior and Kyle was a freshman. It was definitely a surprise to me. As I biked home, I couldn’t get Kyle out of my head. It was the beginning of something amazing.

There were 2 main reasons we chose this venue. The first reason is that we were only going to have a 6 month engagement. The second was that I was looking for a big open beautiful barn! The loft at the Country Barn has beautiful hardwood floors, lovely farm tables, exposed brick, beautiful lighting & was a big open space.

When Kyle & I started talking about when we would get married and narrowed down the timeframe, we chose red, white & blue because we, particularly Kyle, just love America. I always knew I wanted to create a unique & personal look for our day. I didn’t want any “cookie cutter” wedding decorations and had a lot of fun designing each table to be unique with the items I had found at thrift stores leading up to the big day. We wanted everything to be fun, unique, personal, cool, vintage, Americana.

We did our best to add special touches everywhere. Our wedding program was one of my favorite aspects of our day. It had a lot of information about Kyle & I, our bridal party, and the day including a Q&A section and “random facts that you might find useful.” As I designed each table, I thought about who was sitting there to connect something to them. For example, at my Popou’s table, there was a photo of him and my Yai Yai from their wedding day. At a table full of Temple friends, there was a Philadelphia bell & vintage postcards from the city.

I remember the nerves and excitement I felt leading up to our first look. Kyle knew I designed my own dress, but had no idea what it looked like, so I was pumped for him to finally see it! We were so excited to see each other and it is captured so well in our photos.

Master Bedroom Design Tips from Urban Grace

True story: I discovered Erika and her blog Urban Grace, chronicling her life and interior design projects, over 4 years ago and immediately pored through the ENTIRE thing in one sitting. My eyes were burning by the end, but the inspiration I felt while reading like a mad woman was unlike anything I had come across at the time. I’ve since held Erika in high esteem, and it’s a bit of a dream come true to have her here today giving some insider tips on all things design. First up? The master bedroom!

SMP: One splurge worthy bedroom item:

UG: Bedding. Nobody likes scratchy sheets!

SMP: Tips on mixing and matching patterns in bedding & toss cushions?

UG: Make sure they aren’t too matchy. I think it’s always nice to have a collected feel rather than a showroom feel. You don’t want it to look like you went to the store and came back with a boxed set of bedding.

SMP: Where do you usually shop for bedroom related furniture and accessories?

UG: It varies from project to project. I typically use a mixture of everything from high-end furniture manufacturers to local thrift and antique stores. I don’t think something has to cost a lot of money to be beautiful and make a space feel like home.

SMP: Every bedroom should have…

UG: something personal. Whether it’s a gift someone has given you or a piece of art with sentimental value. I think a bedroom should be a place to escape and relax and should reflect the personality of its’ owner. Something about being surrounded by things that mean something to you makes it feel a little more special.

decorating-a-bedroom

1. I always use black out lining on window treatments in a bedroom.

2. Maximize any opportunities for storage.

3. Keep it comfortable.

4. Less is more. Don’t fill up every surface with clutter. You want to create a space that you will enjoy and filling a room with clutter creates a feeling of chaos rather than relaxation.

5. Neutral bedding. It will never go out of style! Pillows are an easy way to bring in pattern and they are less expensive to replace if you get tired of them.

Lasdon Park New York Wedding from Caroline Frost Photography

From this point on, when I think of drop-dead gorgeous garden affairs, I will think of this stunning (and I mean stunning) Lasdon Park and Arboretum wedding.  A wedding sooo full of pretty and outdoor-infused loveliness, it’s almost impossible to NOT love every second captured beautifully by Caroline Frost Photography.  I’m talking one moment after another of lush blooms from Judd’s Flowers and a Mikaella Bridal masterpiece.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… When my husband and I first started talking about getting married we agreed almost instantly that we wanted a laid back, intimate, outdoor wedding. When our family friend suggested Lasdon Park and Arboretum, we went to visit the park and immediately knew this was the place we wanted to get married. The park, which is part of Westchester County’s botanical gardens, is over 200 acres of beautiful gardens, woodlands, open grass and the three story colonial-style main house was the icing on the cake. It held two beautiful bridal suites for all of us to get ready and relax in during the day and was exactly what we were looking for.

When deciding on how we wanted our guests to portray our wedding as whole, we knew it had to be reflective of our personalities. We are both laid back people, who don’t necessarily like being the center of attention, so we wanted our wedding to be just as much about our guests as it was about us. We wanted everyone to be able to really relax, enjoy themselves and most importantly, dance the freaking night away!

The colors of our wedding were chosen to really celebrate the season of summer and our gorgeous surroundings. And since our venue was literally a botanical garden, we really wanted our flower selections to represent that, from our centerpieces to our bouquets. For the attire, we chose a horizon blue for the girl’s dresses and a classic grey for the guys. The guys also wore black leather Converse sneakers which could not be more fitting since Converses are the only type of shoe Lou has worn since he was in middle school!

When going through the details of the wedding we knew we wanted this to be a personal and unique day. Two of Lou’s close friends are incredibly talented musicians and singers and there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted them to be a part of our day. Jared and Ryan (who are brothers) performed our first dance, father/daughter dance and music for the ceremony. We loved how their performances added the personal and intimate touch we were going for and were truly the highlights of our wedding.

All in all our wedding was more than we ever could have hoped for. It completed reflected our personalities and us as couple. We had the time of our lives and so did our guests!

Style Me Pretty Florida Welcomes Our Advertisers!

We love Monday through Friday on SMP Florida, but Saturdays are equally special.  Because that’s when we get to cozy up with some of the nearest and dearest members of our SMP family who just happen to be right in your backyard. And today, we get the pleasure of spending some serious quality time with Isabel O’Neil Bridal Collection. A bridal boutique that we couldn’t possibly adore more, and might be a tad bit jealous of all the brides-to-be that get to experience their one-of-a-kind boutique. But it gets even better lovelies, because they are hosting some note-worthy events right in their store – allowing those brides-to-be to get the dress of their dreams at a discount. Now that, my friends, is fabulous.

About Isabel O’Neil Bridal CollectionThe belief at Isabel O’Neil Bridal Collection is to provide a unique and personalized shopping experience for brides that will be enjoyable and unforgettable. Isabel O’Neil carries an exclusive assortment of couture gowns, veils, and accessories. It’s is the only one in the bay area featuring wedding gown designs by Romona Keveza, Ines Di Santo and Alyne.

An Isabel O’Neil bride has an eye for detail, admires quality and design and has an appreciation of service. She is a bride who is looking to reflect her amazing style in her entire wedding. She doesn’t want to feel like every other bride and is looking for a gown that speaks to her style and personality.

The inspiration behind the design and styling of the boutique was to create a modern and luxurious space where brides and their parties would feel welcome and relaxed. It has an intimate feel with a great seating area for the brides’ loved ones.

We would love to announce two exciting events happening in our boutique! Our Romona Keveza Trunkshow will run from November 22 thru 24 , and we will be offering a 10% discount on new gown orders during the event! Additionally we have a sample sale event on November 29th with  30% to 50% off select sample gowns! We hope to see you there!

Fall Wedding Inspiration from Design*Sponge + Giveaway + Winners!

Here at SMP, end of the week wrap ups are sort of like icing on the cake. We try to end the week with a big ol’ bang, so when Design*Sponge shared their fall wedding inspiration shoot, we knew we’d found “the one.” But it gets even better, because on top of all this major wedding swoon, they’re giving away a styled engagement sesh with e la Barra Photography! Head right here for all the how-to-enters, and keep an eye out for winners, discounts, and even more giveaway goodness (if you can handle it) waiting down below!

From Design*SpongeThis is the first ever design*sponge wedding inspiration shoot. We were inspired by the merlot-colored dinner plate dahlias that we kept seeing at the floral market. With that color in mind, we headed off to one of our favorite places on the East Coast – Terrain at Stylers just outside of Philadelphia. We took our Brooklyn crew, including one of our favorite wedding photographers, Jorge de la Barra, down to Philly to spend a day creating an wedding inspiration shoot. Philadelphia florist, Sullivan Owen created loose wild arrangements filled with our inspiration flower. And Lael Cakes made a beautiful simple cake to compliment her flowers.

Country Chic Tuscan Wedding from Varese Wedding + Lisa Poggi Photography

Marrying amongst the Florentine hills has to be about the most romantic way to go. Because if you ask me, being surrounded by the olive  groves and Tuscan scenery easily makes for a mighty fine day. So who better to bring it all to life than Laura of Varese Wedding? She wove in sense of rustic chic style, with our favorite Lisa Poggi capturing behind the camera. Ready for even more? We’ve got it waiting to be perused, pinned and swooned right over here.

When Elise described me the style and the type of place, she want for her wedding, I knew that La Borriana would be the perfect setting. She would like to get married outdoor in a farmhouse or wine estate, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards and she want to have everything in one place. What better venue than a farmhouse in the Florentine hills, with a great rustic atmosphere and great landscape? The estate was able to accommodate all the guests and the romantic ceremony was set on the olive grove garden. To keep the country chic style I used different elements to decorate the ceremony and the reception. From the burlap runner on the reception tables to the flowers buckets on the ceremony aisle, from the mason jars with rustic flowers to the colorful buntings, that Elise created and that we hung under the reception marquee.

It was really exciting to work for Elise and Henrick. I had plenty ideas and when I suggested them to Elise, she was really enthusiastic and gave me more inspiration. — Laura, Varese Wedding

Fall Wedding Inspiration from Design*Sponge + Giveaway!

The folks at Design*Sponge are one talented team. We’ve oogled over their site for years (and that’s a long time in blog land), and it’s always one of the first we check when we open the computer in the morning. So when we heard they were sending over some wedding inspiration, we literally dropped everything to sit by our computers until it hit our inbox. And boy did they crank out some pretty. It all took place at the fabulous Terrain at Styers, and is filled with stunning florals from Sullivan Owen, a perfectly pretty cake by Lael Cakes, and lovely details all styled by Ginny Branch Stelling. Long story short, this shoot captured by de la Barra Photography is a stunner, and you’ll want to catch it all right here. Oh! And be sure to check out the giveaway below, it’s beyond.

From Design*Sponge… This is the first ever design*sponge wedding inspiration shoot. We were inspired by the merlot-colored dinner plate dahlias that we kept seeing at the floral market. With that color in mind, we headed off to one of our favorite places on the East Coast – Terrain at Stylers just outside of Philadelphia. Philadelphia florist, Sullivan Owen created loose wild arrangements filled with our inspiration flower. And Lael Cakes made a beautiful simple cake to compliment her flowers.

And it gets even better, lovelies! Because the super talented de la Barra Photography is giving away (you read that right!) an engagement shoot in New York City styled by none other than the talents at Design Sponge. Our jaws hit our desks when we heard that too – It simply doesn’t get any more stylish than that little combo. To enter just like de la Barra Photography’s facebook page and leave a comment below letting us know how you knew your main squeeze was the one. We’ll pick a winner on November 15th. Best of luck everyone! xoxo

Cayucos Wedding from We Heart Photography

Classic tented receptions are a definite favorite around these parts. The all white draping sets off everything from a romantic, traditional affair to one with a little rustic flair. This Cayucos wedding with it’s farm-style tables and boxed centerpieces by Flowers by Denise lands somewhere in-between traditional and rustic and with tons of beautiful imagery by We Heart Photography, you can devour every last inch of it right here.

From the Bride… We met Welcome Week my freshman year at Cal. A relationship was the last thing either of us were looking for but there seemed to be bigger plans for us. We started dating right away and over the years we have learned how to grow together without growing apart – 7.5 years later we were engaged, 8.5 years later we were married!

We wanted to keep it local, “romantic” with a touch of vintage, and family oriented. We came up with tons of ideas for how we could really incorporate our family and friends into the day and ensure they had a good time!
