Destination Wedding in Thailand: Bridal Session

Classic, Old Hollywood elegance is always a winner in my book and it seems Joy Proctor and I are on the same page. She’s the stylish talent behind this stunning bridal shoot, shot a couple days before this lovely lady said “I do.” It’s part one of our full day with Ryan Ray who captured every single second of this destination dream, and if it’s just a taste of what’s to come, open up your Pinterest boards and pour some more coffee, because the gasp-worthy good are just getting started – find all in our VAULT right here!

From Joy ProctorA week before their wedding, Verna and Tino flew into Koh Samui to relax before their guests arrived. Each of the 30 Villas they rented for their guests had an in-house chef and offered a variety of classes including yoga and cooking. To soak in the experience themselves, Verna and Tino spent the week by their private pool enjoying the stunning views. As was only fitting for the venue, Verna opted to do a beautiful poolside photo session, surrounded by 360-degree ocean views. Her classic look channeled old Hollywood, with beautiful pin curls and red lips paired with a gorgeous black romper and Valentino heels. After changing into a black scalloped one-piece swimsuit, she jumped into the pool to watch the sunset.

Rustic

From Gourmet Invitations… Diana and Parag are foodies and loved the restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocatino Hills, New York. Although they are city through and through, this location reflected their unique personalities. From the Blue Hill website: Sourcing from the surrounding fields and pasture, as well as other local farms, Blue Hill at Stone Barns highlights the abundant resources of the Hudson Valley. There are no menus at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Instead, guests are offered the multi-taste Grazing, Rooting, Pecking menu featuring the best offerings from the field and market.”

Modern is Diana and Parag’s style. We had the challenge of creating pieces that reflected their style and personality but combining the rustic location of the wedding and reception. For their Save the Dates, they had received a mirror invitation and they loved the idea of doing something similar. We designed a clover quatrefoil motif and combined this with a very modern and clean text. Ivory ink was used on the large square mirror. Each Save the Date was mailed in a tone on tone foil printed sleeve and just hinted at the invitations that were to come next.

Diana had the idea to send personal notes inside of blown out chicken eggs. We took this idea and ran with it. Custom made boxes were the only way to send eggs and we designed a quatrefoil pattern and printed it with silver foil. When the boxes were opened, the guest immediately found the ultra-thick invitation that was embossed with silver foil. But the really surprise was underneath the invitation. The box was divided into two sections – one that held the RSVP card and envelope, and the other that held a nest. We handmade each nest and then put personal handwritten notes to the guest inside hollowed out blue chicken eggs! A small trifold note was printed in silver with the instructions to “Crack Open” and gave a little explanation about the numerous chickens and other animals that are raised at Stone Barns. We attached it to the nest with a white head stick pin.

For the reception, all of the paper was designed with the very modern look and style of the invitations. Tiny lanterns served as escort cards for the guests to carry after sundown to the reception. Custom gift boxes were made with their quatrefoil pattern. Even custom milk and donut holders were made as a good night gift for the guests. One of our favorite pieces to design was their 10 page book-style program with sketches of their two dogs – Bentley and Coco. But the surprises didn’t stop there for all of the guests. The thank you cards were actually gifts of custom acrylic magnetic frames printed with their silver pattern and thank you messages from Bentley and Coco!

Spring Napa Valley Wedding with Floral Print Bridesmaids

Bold statement alert: I’m predicting floral print bridesmaid dresses is going to be one of my favorite trends of the coming year. They’re perfect for the spring or summer celebration, and when each ‘maid still gets to chose her own neckline…what’s not to love? But if you think that’s the only pretty moment of this Napa Valley wedding designed by Bustle Events, think again. Lots more in The Vault from the lens of Jessica Burke.

From Erin of Bustle Events… Lauren and Kevin are college sweethearts and met at UCLA through mutual friends. They began their Journey together when they moved to San Fransisco after Kevin was drafted to the San Francisco 49ers. When we began diving into the design details of the wedding they knew they wanted a romantic, classic and refined event.

Lauren loves flowers and wanted tons of them, she even chose bridesmaids dresses with a floral print. We went with a sage green, dark and light lilac tones, cream and a blush pink color palette. The linens were a sage and cream ticking stripe linen for that warm country feel. For the centerpieces Twigss created flowing full arrangements in wooden boxes and dotted the table with small glass bud vases each with a few beautiful blooms.

To incorporate a bit of masculine feel we chose the most amazing modern teak flatware and ceramic grey plates from Frances Lane rentals which gave the table a modern feel. For the final touch handblown glass candle stick holders held the coolest shade of sage green candles.

Every detail of this wedding from the floral adorned escort card board we created to the candle filled back bar was dripping with romance and class. To end the night the couple drove off in the very same model vintage Mercedes the bride’s parents drove after their wedding.

Modern Star Galaxy Wedding Inspiration

Every now and then you’ve got to shake things up, and what better way to do it than with an inspiration shoot from CCL Weddings? Designed with a modern edge- think ghost chairsgeometric details and unexpected pops of color, this is not your run-of-the-mill photo gallery. A big thank you to The Great Romance for the pretty imagery, and without further adieu, let’s head to The Vault!

From CCL WeddingsAfter taking a hike through the Hollywood Hills on a warm Southern California night, we were inspired by the nature that surrounded us, in all of its unadulterated flawlessness. We sought to find something that could represent the vast, infinite, and ethereal love that couples have for one another. Naturally, we looked up to the ever-boundless night sky with its countless stars perfectly written into it. Thus was born, Faye and Avery with a love that is forever Written in the Stars. Our concept was to bring in the variation of shapes in the constellations from Orion to Cetus with pops of colors, and still create an overall whimsy and fun environment.

The pops of neon yellow against the dark plums and purples accentuates the brilliance of finding love in the most unexpected places. We wanted to find details that brought out the modern elegance of our couple as well as their wild, adventurous spirits.

We knew that the style of this shoot was a lot more edgy than most weddings are, so we wanted to find a dress that was clean and modern and most definitely trending: crop tops from the fabulous Vivian Chan! The designer herself created a light lavender skirt for a portion of the shoot to tie in the ethereal feel and that subtle pop of color.

The watercolor splattered throughout the shoot was an element that we wanted to mimic the undulating ebb and flows of the stars in the galaxies. Adding smoke bombs to create a physical representation of that was the icing on the cake! Who could resist playing with smoke bombs?

Once Upon A Time: Snow White Birthday Bash

Amorology always knocks it out of the park with their themed parties. One look at this roundup of our all time faves and you’ll agree this kid’s birthday rivals the best of them. But back to the soiree at hand; the one where a really lucky seven year old is living out my disney princess dreams. It’s a Snow White party gone chic. See the full shindig captured by Merrily Roberts Photography in the VAULT.

For Milla’s seventh birthday bash we put together a backyard party that would have the Evil Queen herself asking the “mirror, mirror on the wall, what party was the funnest of all?” We took inspiration from Snow White’s classic dress and created a color palette that consisted of deep shades of red and blue, along with hints of white as crisp as the apples our little ones bobbed for that afternoon.

When it was time to eat, our own Snow White and all her guests sat on red velvet pillows and enjoyed tasty treats on a table that was just the right height and resembled a cottage door from our friends at Folklore Rentals. The table, along with Snow White’s woodland friends, were adorned in gorgeous florals made of eucalyptus, dahlias, ranunculus, and garden roses done by Twigg Botanicals and accented with the cutest of lanterns the dwarves themselves would have held in the coal mines. For additional activities we had the kids search for mini apples hidden within the trees in the yard. We also printed off cards with names of each of the seven dwarves and had the little ones see if they could pair up items that would represent each of them, such as a bag of tissues for sneezy and sleep masks for sleepy. They had so much fun trying to figure out what went with who! We completed the day with a good ol’ fashioned game of chase where our lone huntsman tried to collect the girls hearts by tagging them. Just so much fun hearing all their giggles and seeing their excitement!

The day was truly as special as sweet Milla and may have ended with her little brother climbing into the apple barrel… Because who can resist getting into your birthday suit for a good soak? So grateful Merrily Photo was there to capture it all!

Elegant Wedding at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

History complete with one gorgeous ceremony by Amorology that you’re sure to love and thanks to Jonathan Canlas it’s all waiting in THE VAULTP.S. Have an amazing love story with your own. From The Bride…Tanner and I met at college and fell in love. Early on in our relationship, I felt strongly that I needed to give back to God and serve as a volunteer missionary for our church. My missionary assignment was for 18 months, giving all time and energy to teaching people about Jesus Christ and doing service. During this time away, Tanner and I wrote emails and letters every week, as phone calls and visits were not possible. We have kept every single note and they are real treasures to us! We both grew up a lot in the time away, and also grew closer togetherness through our letters. When I came home from my mission, we continued dating and we were married within a year. Being wed to my dedicated, honest, caring, goofy, best friend was the happiest day of my life.

Our wedding day was April 25th, 2015, in sunny San Diego. Southern California was in the middle of a drought (and unfortunately still is), but it just so happened to pour rain on our wedding day! We had to adjust all our plans for an outdoor reception. I was really quite sad at first, but then I decided to see the rain as a symbol of the outpouring of love we felt from our family, friends, and God.

And our wedding day reflected that love! We couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of my mother and our amazing, sweetheart wedding planner, Heather Balliet with her team at Amorology. I wanted our guests to eat well, enjoy good company, and dance like crazy. We spent a lot of time with the staff at The Inn at Rancho Fe, perfecting the menu. I also felt the need to capture the moment. We had Amorology make an escort table covered in florals, where guests exchanged their escort card with a Polaroid photo and written note on the bottom. Everything that day was a wonderful mix of elements- elegance, blush florals, dusty blue and gold accents, romance, twinkly lights, comfort, and fresh rain. Even with the storm, it was the most magical day!

Now that it’s all over, what I have left to remember the day is our photos. Thank you, thank you Jonathan Canlas!! Aside from his incredible photography skills, he is genuine, kind, and freaking hilarious. (And somehow crowd control and direction comes very naturally to him.) Jon puts his whole, great big heart into his photography and it is apparent in each photo. I had total trust and confidence in him! His photos of the day captured the feeling of love and joy. They tell the story behind relationships and friendships that I want to remember forever. It was the happiest, most beautiful day and I’m so grateful.

From The Ramseys Photography… Planning a wedding is a lot of work, and when things don’t end up going as planned, it’s easy to miss the beauty of plan B. Tina and Trevor had been dreaming of the perfect outdoor wedding for months, so when a three-month long drought ended with torrential downpours the day of their wedding, it threatened to put a hamper on the day. Instead of letting it, they chose to see the beauty of “plan B.” While they were looking forward to an outdoor wedding, the rain that day made their first dance song choice of “Come Rain or Come Shine” by Ray Charles all the more meaningful.

Nautical Inspired Rowing Club Wedding in Vancouver

Warning: there’s a 100% chance you might spend the rest of your day here. For starters, you know how we love a mismatched bridal party and the fact that these ‘maids all found their gowns on different continents only goes to show that style can be found anywhere. It’s the type of day where you’re bound to fall in love with every detail and thanks to Whitney Krutzfeldt it’s all waiting in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…Booking the Vancouver Rowing Club for our ceremony and reception venue really helped solidify our wedding theme, which I described as “A bit of Gatsby on a sailboat”. Growing up on the West Coast of BC, Brendon and I both love being on the water and we wanted the coast to come through the look and feel of the wedding. We also wanted to incorporate how important our family is, so a lot of our decor was borrowed from family. Some of the brass candlesticks came from my aunts and grandmother. We also used a lot of my late step-mother’s nautical decor, which was a special way to have her with us on our day. We were also lucky enough to have my step-dad marry us, it made for a very loving and personal ceremony.

For the reception, I wanted long tables to emphasize a family dinner in a relaxed but romantic setting. Every little part of our day came together beautifully because of the attentive venue staff, our amazing caterers (the crab cakes!) and beautiful florals. The overall look was exactly what we pictured.

I loved my dress by Australian designer, Anna Campbell, easy to wear with a bit of sparkle. The bridesmaid dresses were all different, bought separately and across continents! The long navy look came together really well, for all seven of them and worked well with the the groom and groomsmen’s grey suits.

I think the highlight for me were the speeches, Brendon’s impromptu black flip! and the beautiful west coast sunset on the dock. Brendon and I could not have wished for a better day and a more perfect celebration. And no rain! Even in the hottest summer on record in Vancouver, you never know!

Elegant + Romantic Seaside Portofino Wedding

Portofino is known as perfection the world over, so to host your special day there is what dreams are made of. And to host a bash filled with peach bellinis and blooms overlooking the colorful city below makes it all the better. Set at the Belmond Hotel Splendido, with Facibeni Fotografia capturing it all, these pics are my prescription for any hump  day blues – get your fix in our VAULT right this way!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/141380181 600 338]

From Facibeni Fotografia… Sarah and Shaun got married in June 2015 in Portofino on the Italian Riviera. They had travelled to Portofino for a romantic escape and fell in love with the authentic beauty of the small traditional fishing town. A year later they hosted an intimate and heartfelt wedding with their closest family and friends. Their two children, Harry and Jessica, witnessed the day.

The bride is a romantic by heart and her personality was reflected in every little detail of the decor. The ceremony, one of the highlights of the day, was celebrated at the picturesque church of Saint George, protector of the town. Bride and groom reached the port on a little Italian cart while guests paraded behind them. While guests were treated to a delicious local ice-cream, Cristiano from Facibeni photography sneaked in some quiet time with the bride and groom for portraits along the marina. The light was magical.

About the design and styling – Sarah and Shaun shared lots of inspiration from their home design, to their personal taste in dresses and favorite colors. Alice from Sposiamovi designed all the decor and little details around them. As they love Portofino they wanted local features to be incorporated like the Bellini cocktail bar, the little three wheeled Ape car they rode to the town, the elegant dinner setting with incomparable views over Portofino and an Italian singer that learned all their favorite songs to make it extra special.

A little advice for couples planning a destination wedding is a little hiccup can happen when handling wedding paperwork for Italy. We had to redo a document from scratch with very little time. Lucky we had planned ahead and had enough time to reapply at the Consulate for the Nulla Osta. So, remember to double check your paperwork each time is submitted and plan ahead to allow enough time to amend any mistakes. Start as soon as you can!

Romantic + Glamorous Newport Wedding at Rosecliff Mansion

I’ve never really been the girl who wanted a glamorous, princess wedding (in fact, I want to elope), but there’s something about this wedding that has me completely enchanted. The stunning Rosecliff Mansion (where The Great Gatsby was originally filmed). The Bride’s Ines Di Santo dress. The oh-so-elegant reception designed by Sayles Livingston Flowers. It all adds up to one truly magestic day. Get inspired with gorgeous images from CLY by Matthew assisted by Matthew Ree in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…To us, wedding was both a scene out of a chapter from our favorite book, and a nostalgic moment from our dreams. We kicked off the wedding celebration the day before with a picnic-style polo match. The players, Suleman, his family and friends, played as we cheered and enjoyed Ghanian, Eritrean and American cuisines–dishes representative of our cultural origins. Our venue, Rosecliff Mansion, has special significance; it was a historic home that we visited while in college. During this visit we joked about the idea of having a wedding at Rosecliff without having any clue that years later this would foreshadow our wedding. Rosecliff is also the backdrop of where the story from our favorite book, The Great Gatsby, was originally filmed. The orchids adorning various tables and corners of the venue were also symbolic. Orchids are the flowers Suleman sent me every Valentine’s Day for the past 7 years. As a tribute to our engagement, we featured Tuscan wines native to the local region where Suleman proposed. Our signature drink was a concoction created by our friends from Newport, RI using apples from their Newport orchid. On each table we placed a card to have our guests play a game of “I Spy.” With the provided disposable cameras, our guests snapped “spy” moments on the list such as a moment where the groom was caught playing with his ring or a group photo.

Cereal Treats that Prove Breakfast Is the Most Important Meal of the Day

I don’t limit my cereal consumption to breakfast, or even the morning. I could eat cereal breakfast, lunch or dinner and be completely happy. And with these yummy recipes, I’ll be eating cereal for dessert, too. I’m not just talking Rice Krispie treats (which, by the way, I still love). I’m talking cereal milk popsicles, cereal donuts, salted caramel puppy chow and so much more. All that’s missing? A glass of milk!

Theme Parties Done Right

When some people hear theme party, they might get a little nervous. Admittedly, I fall into that category. They can easily teeter on the side of cheesy (and there is definitely a time and a place for that), but we are here to prove the point that theme parties can be super chic and elegant too. And we’ve rounded up a few of our favorites to prove that point in the prettiest of ways.
