From Les Amis PhotoCountry chic wedding of Claire and James in Tuscany. The couple chose Terre di Nano as their wedding venue: a country farmhouse located near Siena, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woods, with a gorgeous outdoor garden and stunning panoramic views on the Val D’Orcia Valley and its magnificent natural scenery. This venue allows the couple to celebrate surrounded by family and friends, in fact all the guests were accommodated here. The event at Terre di Nano lasted three days, with a welcome dinner the day before the wedding, and a farewell brunch the day after.

The welcome dinner was a pizza party with traditional Italian bruschetta and crostini, and different types of pizza made on the spot in the pizza oven of the venue. On the wedding day, the symbolic ceremony was held in the panoramic area accompanied by a string quartet. The cocktail was served in the panoramic area together with local specialties: Tuscan salami, pecorino cheese from Pienza with mustards/jams, plums with crispy bacon, vegetarian rustic pizzas, mix of croutons, and breads/breadsticks and ciaccini. The string quartet played also during cocktail performing classic and modern songs.

The sit down dinner was served under the olive trees with lights placed on the branches. The simple and tasty dishes are full of flavors of Tuscany and are made with local produce.
• First courses: Risotto with pecorino and balsamic vinegar + Pasta with pesto of zucchini, leeks
and salty ricotta cheese
• Main course: Roast pig in sweet and sour sauce + Sliced beef
• Side dishes: White beans of Monticchiello with tomato sauce + Roast potatoes and rosemary
• Dessert buffet
• Wedding cake: 2-layered millefeuille cake with chantilly cream, covered with fresh strawberries
and cream

After the cake cutting the couple and guests moved to the cellar for the after party, where the dancing lasted until 2 pm. The next day the farewell brunch with cereals, yogurt, home-made cakes, home made bread, cold cuts (salame, ham), pecorino cheese, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, jams, honey, nutella…pasta and rice salad, cereals salad, cherry tomatoes, mozzarellas, cheeses, mixed salad and frittata. For the wedding favors the couple chose tiny elegant heart shaped bottles of olive oil, produced locally at Terre di Nano.

Coral Charm Peonies Make This Italian Celebration All the More Pretty

If there’s one flower that consistently steals our affection it’s the peony. And this stunning Italian celebration? Well it’s filled with them. Bursting with vibrant coral charm florals and one fabulous celebration, Kir & Ira Photography has captured every bit to share and we’ve got it all waiting for you to fall in love with in The Vault!

From The Bride…I’ve been organizing events around the world for the past 15 years that’s why we decide to plan our wedding celebration ourselves. The expectations from our friends and family were high towards this one, which did not make planning any easier. We started looking on the Internet for ideas and places we liked. With guests coming from 21 countries, we wanted to rent a whole villa/house for a week, so all of our friends and family could stay near by to us. We also were looking for flexibility from the venue we were going to use, so we could decide our own suppliers, with not so many restrictions. Most important factors for us were great food and drink, good weather, nature and a peaceful unique place as we live in London, we wanted to get away from the crowd. We chose Italy, as it was easy to get to for us and our guests, offered great places to visit and it is a paradise for foodies.

We enjoyed doing site visits to Italy. We visited Tuscany twice to organize and see things, as we have organized our wedding ourselves. We chose the idea of travel and globe as a seating plan. We had an old map and we allocated guests per countries. We also really wanted to have two long banquet tables and it worked really well for our wedding. At our wedding we had many kids who were given kids packs full of games, stickers and toys to keep them entertained.

I liked the idea of braces and tie bows for page boys, and they were the stars of the day. We saw San Galgano Abbey and straight away decided that this is the place for us. On the evening of our first visit there, they had a opera concert, which we stayed and decided on that same evening that Opera during our ceremony would be a real wow factor as we enjoy it and our guests would have a different experience.

We had local honey as small presents to our guests. We found these little pots of honey in local shop and a supplier made special stickers for us (Tatyana and Lee, meant to bee) and we got lavender honey (bees been collecting piling from lavender flowers only). Peach and coral color scheme started from peonies, flowers which I have fallen for and which were used in wedding flowers as well.

Wedding took place end of April, and we decided it would be the best time as it was not to hot, not too busy with tourists and prices were lower compared to peak time. Only thing we had to consider was changing weather, therefore we have booked a big marquee and placed it just outside of the villa as we wanted most of the wedding to be outdoors, and we didn’t want to take a risk on the rain. We had booked two musicians, who stayed with us for from Friday until Monday playing piano, and guitars for us. On our wedding day we have put lots of effort to our entertainment program, which included traditional Russian games as well as some less traditional dance offs. We had also prepared a song list for our Italian DJ who successfully catered for each taste of music and got us all dancing to great hits like to Kalinka, Macarena and many Italian classics.

Best parts of the whole wedding planning experience was driving our classic car in the most beautiful areas of Tuscany, visiting places and trying food during our site visits and meeting with the Mayer of the town, two days before the wedding to sign pre marriage documents. We have met and made friends with great people including Jacopo, who is the owner of Villa di Corsano, so was there to give us great suggestions and local knowledge.

If you want to organize a wedding in Italy we would recommend to choose a place which is near places for sight seeing. We had Sienna only 15 minutes away, Florence 1 hour away plus many other great places. Make sure you use only recommended suppliers and it is not easy to book services in Italy, as people are very relaxed. We had very personal experience as our dear friend Carmen who is from Italy, was translating our ceremony into English. For Russian guests who did not speak English, we translated menus and order of service for them. We also had best mans and grooms speeches translated beforehand, to make it more personal on the wedding day.

As we had such a international wedding, we did our own website, where our guests could find travel info, tips and photos. It was the easiest way to communicate info and updates. In total we had just over 90 people and 60 of them stayed for the whole week. We made a holiday out of this and every evening we had BBQ and meals together, so we have an outstanding wedding party.

Escape to Florence with this Sweet E-Shoot

My hubby and I have been creating a list of places we must visit and at the tippy top? Florence. I was there briefly in college and it was way too short – and without my special person. Florence is a city made for lovers and these two would agree. Gert Huygaerts captured their too-sweet-for-words engagement session and their Vault gallery is our wanderlust motivation destination for the time being.

From Gert Huygaerts… When Lynzie and Josh from Chicago contacted me a few months ago to see if I wanted to shoot their wedding next year, I didn’t really doubt for more than a second… as Lynzie knew exactly what she wanted being a wedding photographer herself.

Having a wedding in Tuscany and with Lynzie and Josh looking for a wedding venue for their big day, we decided to have their engagement shoot in the wonderful city of Florence… it was full spring and the temperature was nice, so the moods were good!

In the amazing old architecture of this Italian masterpiece, we had the most beautiful views and moments full of love… an Italian dream come true!

I’m already looking forward to next summer when they will be coming back to Europe to have their big day. It will sure be a day full of love in an amazing place… I can already feel that!

From Sophie EptonWords cannot even begin to describe the magic of this incredible wedding day! Jennifer and Jesse’s fairy tale wedding took place on top of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Florence, Italy and the day was full of so much love and light (and all the champagne!) This celebration was such a joy to photograph, and a true feast for the eyes. The ceremony and reception both took place on the hotel landing that literally overlooked the entire city and created a breathtakingly beautiful focal point for the entire day.

Gorgeous colorful blooms and lanterns punctuated every landscape, and sweet details such as mini olive oil bottle favors and the most amazing Firenze inspired invite made a big impact on guests. After the sun started to set, the party was set ablaze with a sparkling champagne tower while everyone danced against the Italian starry night.

The next day, Jennifer and Jesse got dressed up once more for a “day after” session as we chased light all over Firenze..from the Boboli Gardens and Pitti Palace to the quiet streets of the Oltrarno side of the city. Jennifer was the most radiant bride, and we laughed all day amongst the hustle and bustle of historic Florence. This truly was one for the books, and I hope it inspires many other couples to chase your wanderlust dreams and always get married where your heart desires!

Why Tuscany Holds the Key to Wedding Day Perfection

If I could, I would crawl right through my screen just to experience the pretty captured by Allen Tsai Photography firsthand – it’s just that good. From those crazy chic florals, to the stunning scenery that is Tuscany, every darn detail is wedding day perfection and I’m just begging someone to recreate it all for their big day. See it all in The Vault and you’ll easily understand why I’m completely obsessed.

From Allen Tsai PhotographyMost wedding editorials focus on the bride and groom, but for this romantic Tuscan bridal inspiration we wanted to tell a story from the bride’s perspective during the quiet and intimate moments of her wedding day, pre-ceremony. Slipping into your bridal gown and writing a heartfelt note to your groom, a moment in front of the camera with freshly picked blooms from the Italian countryside, the linens on your reception table gently waving in the breeze as if anticipating the love and conversation to come over Tuscan wine…those are the relaxed pre-wedding moments we wanted to capture on film. There’s something extremely special and precious about those few pre-wedding hours before the guests arrive and the hustle and bustle begins, so we wanted to inspire brides to savor that time and capture some of that stillness in the beautiful surroundings they’ve created.

I can’t think of a more romantic destination wedding location than Tuscany, Italy, and the hilltop venue of Monteverdi Tuscany was a stunning backdrop of rolling green hills and tall Italian cypress trees, with rich surrounding textures of stone. From the stunning views to the fine wine and dining, every guest room has its own unique design, which makes for an unforgettable destination trip for your closest loved ones.

Letter Love Studio conveyed the tone for this intimate wedding experience with loose and organic calligraphy on handmade paper. The terra cotta colored ink mirrored the tiled rooftops synonymous with Italian architecture, and the imperfect ink splatters feel right at home in this simple yet rustic suite. Topped off with vintage stamps and a beautifully deckled edge cotton envelope from Italian paper maker Amalfi, this wedding suite lends elegance and character to this luxurious but understated shoot.

Wanting this editorial to be a true Tuscany experience, we included talented local vendors including floral design by Puscina Flowers, and hair & makeup by Andrea Hair Styling. For the tablescape, Tuscan fabrics from Biagianti, wrought iron sculptures from Biagiotti, and custom designed wood pepper mills by Brigitte Deval were all incorporated, lending an authentic Italian flair to our outdoor tabletop.

All of the wildflowers used were grown by Puscina Flowers on their own family farm. I’ve never felt so calm and close to nature as I did when I stepped foot onto their estate. 100% of their floral design is sourced from their own land, enabling them to have a rarely personal and profound understanding of the florals they use. The result is a unique, organic, and natural floral design that feels effortless.

To complete our old world influence, Watters “Florence” dress with its flowing silk mousseline skirt couldn’t have been more perfect for our bride. We paired it with a vintage inspired green emerald by Shapiro Diamonds, which was a custom design.

A Quaint Italian Village Was Their Perfect Wedding Location

Roma, Roma, Roma. Is there any place more romantic for a destination wedding? Certainly not in my book. This couple felt the same and planned a celebration in a village just outside the city, sharing vows in a little church steeped in history. They asked guests to put away all cell phones, iPads and the like for a completely unplugged ceremony that set the tone for a truly meaningful day. Laura Gordon photographed and we cannot get enough.

From Laura Gordon PhotographyIrish couple, Lindsay and Michael married in Italy last summer; their organic and elegant aesthetic, from the simple table setting foraged from the Italian villa to the dreamy hillside village where they said their vows. The old world feel paired with the impeccable style of this couple created what I consider the quintessential European wedding.

From The Bride…Michael and I got together about six years ago but we were actually pals for about seven years before that. We are still amused that we ended up together because neither of us ever had notions on each other…I even tried to set him up with my best friend at one point. Thank goodness that never came about because I just couldn’t imagine my life without him now. Living on opposite sides of Ireland to each other meant that most of our relationship was spent traveling at weekends just to see one other. Although worth it, it left very little time for family and friends and when we did get engaged, we both knew that we wanted a wedding that would allow us to spend as much time as possible with our nearest and dearest. I co-own an online destination wedding magazine and both of my older brothers had had weddings abroad, so I was well aware of how a wedding outside of Ireland meant that we would have two to three days of celebrating. Coupled with the fact that we couldn’t find a venue in Ireland that could cater for our tastes and our numbers, we started our venue search in Italy as it was relatively close flight wise and we could also have a legally binding Catholic wedding there.

Being in the wedding industry, I guess I felt quite a lot of pressure from the outset and before even going to Italy on the venue scouting trip, I had to get a few things straight in my head. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to separate my work from my personal life and I really wanted to feel like a bride, not a planner on her biggest event to date. The wedding was about us, not me and my job, so the venue was going to have to be able to cater for lots of music and dancing (Mike and I are both musicians and we originally met on tour) and be okay with our crazy, but amazing family and friend’s partying ways.

Finding a venue that could hold 200 guests abroad was not the easiest task but we struck gold with Borgo di Tragliata, an ancient village located outside Rome. The moment we landed on our first venue scouting trip, something just clicked. Apart from having one of the most amazing onsite coordinators I have ever come across, there was an atmosphere at the village that just felt right and I felt so relaxed there. From our first visit to deciding we wanted to stay one extra night after our wedding, we were treated like royalty. Two hundred people flew from Ireland to be with us for the weekend so it was important to us that we showed them how much we appreciated them traveling so far. We had a BBQ the night before the wedding that ended up being like a wedding in itself. The music was still going at 4.30am when Mike and I forced ourselves to say goodnight and only for our fab hairdresser arriving at 7am, I’d have snuck back down to the party.

We took a lot of the design inspiration for our wedding from the venue. Being an organic farm, we kept that in mind when it came to designing our invitations, choosing handmade paper and hand dyed silk ribbons. Ruby nailed it with the flowers, most of which were foraged from the venue grounds. The color palette kind of came about organically also. I started with greys and golds when putting together our stationery and introduced the soft pastels later on when it was becoming clearer to me what would be available around the time of our wedding and in Italy. My parents, who were traveling to the wedding via France in their motor home, very kindly allowed me to pack it full of our own gold cutlery and table decor so I didn’t have to stress about sourcing locally.

The wedding day itself was just like a dream. My feet didn’t touch the ground. We had asked guests to put away their phones and cameras for the church as I was bit nervous about the walk down the aisle and didn’t like the idea of being snapped on top of it. What we didn’t expect though was the effect it had on the entire ceremony. Everyone was so present. The mass was full of music with 22 musicians thanks to our talented families and friends but everyone got involved and one of my lasting memories is hearing what sounded like the entire congregation singing along to “You are Mine”. It was so emotional, I’m tearing up thinking back. No-one was reaching for iPads and cameras, they were just part of it. Of course our priest, Fr. Flor made it so personal. As a musician himself, he understood how important the music was to us and it was magical. The rest of the day flowed in the same way and I know it’s cliche, but it was the best day of our lives.

We were both incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a team of vendors that are some of our greatest friends. Rodolphe, who shot our video is practically part of the family and we were so excited when he told us he was free to make the wedding. Sam flew from Ireland with a suitcase full of baking supplies and created a stunner of a wedding cake that tasted as good as it looked. Liv, who I’ve an endless amount of admiration for made the most beautiful headpiece for me. I cried when I opened the box. Laura, who I’d met on one of our recent Irish weddings was not only our photographer, but my sounding board for everything and I’m so lucky to call her one of my closest friends. We really couldn’t have pulled it off without their generosity and their kindness. Their talents know no bounds and we will be forever grateful to them.

On paper, our guest list was huge but somehow, it still felt like a very intimate wedding. With a few days to get to know one another, new friendships were formed and old ones reignited. That was what it was really all about for us. We have incredibly patient parents, brothers, sisters and a bridal party that would rival the best of them. They provided endless support during the planning and the memories they helped us create will forever be with us. We really feel like were the luckiest people in the world.

Reason #936 Why European Elopements Are Insanely Romantic

You know how we feel about elopements. They’re just about the most romantic way to go, and this Tuscany-set day totally proves our point. With Thecablookfotolab behind the lens, these two sweethearts soaked up all the European charm as they said “I do” and Kristana Marie Events helped the nuptials run smooth from beginning to end. Go see lots more inside The Vault!

From ThecablookfotolabThis couple is a total romance. Two people should be madly in love if they make an elopement so far away from home without any guests. This couple from San Diego decided to tie the knot in one of the most romantic places in the world – in Tuscany. Everything was so lovely and intimate there: starting from preparations in the suite of the Executive hotel in Florence, then the lunch for two on the Terrazza Brunelleschi with the most picturesque view on Florence rooftops and ending with a touching ceremony held by the most amazing officiant Jo Bertolino from Tuscan Pledges and a couple session in the gardens of villa Gamberaia. I’m so grateful to them for giving me a chance to capture their shining eyes filled with endless love to each other.

From The Bride…Our wedding in Italy was something out of a dream, something we still can’t believe we got to experience. We live in San Diego, and though this is a stunning wedding destination itself, we just knew we wanted something different. We wanted to have more than just a wedding; we wanted to have an adventure together. Our wedding planner, Kristana Burreece of Kristana Marie Events is also located in San Diego, so even though we were traveling somewhere new for our wedding day, the planning process was comfortable and felt like home! She was so much fun to work with and really made us feel so excited for what our day would become. Kristana found our photographer, Darya Kamalova of Thecablookfotolab on Style Me Pretty, and we fell in love with her and her work right away! She is so adorable and has so much style and grace. Darya was so hospitable and warm through out the planning process, and she was very open to sharing lots of helpful information with us. She actually connected us with our florist and my hair & make up artist as well! I would trust her recommendations any day.

When it was finally time to travel to Florence, Italy for our wedding, I couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. We were going to have the experience of a lifetime and I was so thankful that the love of my life and I would always have these memories. We stayed at Hotel Executive, and they made us feel like royalty! Our suite was absolutely stunning, and it really was the perfect setting for us to prepare for our wedding day. We even chose to do our “first look” in the room because it was just that beautiful! For lunch we went to Terrazza Brunelleschi where Darya took some amazing photos of us overlooking the city. The views of the rooftops of Florence and the iconic Duomo were breathtaking. After our lunch, it was finally time for our wedding at the beautiful Villa Gamberaia. When we arrived and finally got to see the Villa in person, we were blown away. It looks even more spectacular in person, and we were so overjoyed that this would be the spot that we would recite our vows to each other.

We met our officiant, Jo Bertolino of Tuscan Pledges and she was just wonderful! She had been great through out the planning process and worked so hard to create the perfect ceremony for us, but when we were there in that moment, her words resonated with us and we felt her sincerity; it really made our ceremony so special. We were both so excited to recite our vows to each other because we had decided that we would both write them when we arrived in Europe so that we could truly capture the essence of this beautiful time in our lives. We wanted our wedding to be intimate, romantic, and an experience of a lifetime, and it was all that and more! I will never forget the way that I felt standing in those beautiful gardens hearing the love of my life’s vows to me. Our life together started in the most perfect of ways, and I am eternally grateful for everyone who helped make our dreams reality.

From Kristana Marie EventsWhen Kyla & Eric first told me about their wedding dreams, I was so excited to help make their day perfect for them. They wanted to travel together, as neither of them had ever been in Europe before. They wanted it to be intimate and romantic, making sure that they never lost sight of what that special day is all about. And they wanted it to be a fun & stress-free experience. The bride, groom, & myself are all from San Diego, CA so we did all of the planning for this beautiful Florence, Italy wedding from afar.

Style Me Pretty was an incredible tool and helped me to find the right vendors for their big day. Kyla was adamant that her photographer be the best of the best. And let me tell you, the photographer we picked definitely was! When I first came across Darya Kamalova from Thecablookfotolab, I knew she would be the perfect fit. Her style is stunning and she shoots film photography, which is something I hardly ever see anymore! Kyla & Eric trusted her artistry immediately, and really just wanted to let her create. Darya also gave lots of amazing recommendations for vendors that she has enjoyed working with, and gave us tons of tips about the city! She was an amazing help and really made my clients feel so special & taken care of.

The other wonderful contributor to their big day was Jo Bertolino of Tuscan Pledges! From the first skype meeting, it was so apparent that she takes so much pride in creating stunning & personal ceremonies for her clients. Kyla and Eric were overwhelmed with how perfect the ceremony was for them, and Jo really made every effort to make it express the love that they share for each other.

The venue was too perfect. Villa Gamberaia boasted beautiful gardens and architecture that really made Kyla & Eric feel the essence of a Tuscan dream wedding.

We truly had so much fun working together to create a beautiful, romantic, & intimate wedding that felt so authentically them!

The Views Aren’t the Only Breathtaking Part of This Amalfi Coast Wedding

Like M And J Photography, we’ve been dreaming about visiting the Amalfi Coast for years. So, when they made the trip to Ravello, we were insanely jealous. Not only did they visit the picturesque region, but they also got to witness (and photograph) this gorgeous day. With an outdoor ceremony in a garden overlooking the coastline and a parade through the town square, this day proves dreams come true. See how in The Vault!

From M And J Photography… The Amalfi coast had been somewhere we dreamed of visiting for years. We can’t deny that we’d secretly been holding out to be able to use a job as an excuse to visit for the first time. So when Gabriella & Duncan asked us to shoot their wedding in Ravello, we were over the moon.

After arriving late at night, we woke the next morning to the spectacularly beautiful views over Amalfi and the blue blue Mediterranean sea and knew it was going to be a very special wedding that day.

All the celebrations took place high up in the town of Ravello with an outdoor ceremony at Giardini Principessa di Piemonte, an Italian garden overlooking the beautiful coastline. Duncan and his groomsmen dressed all in black tie made their way through the town square up to the ceremony followed by the rest of the guests to the sound of cheers and shouts of “viva lo sposo!!” from locals and tourists alike. Gabriella, accompanied by her father and bridesmaids followed to an equally enthusiastic reception.

The ceremony was intimate with both emotional and humorous readings from close friends and family. A classical string duo provided the perfect musical accompaniment. There was further music as everyone made their way back to the town square accompanied by an acoustic band singing traditional Italian songs. Drinks and canapé’s in the square were followed by a photo session for the bride and groom. The procession then moved on up to Villa Eva, for an evening of more stunning food, drink and scenery at Villa Eva. After some of the best speeches wedding speeches we’ve heard, everyone danced the night away under fairy lights in the villa’s courtyard. The perfect ending to a relentlessly joyous day!

See the True Meaning of La Dolce Vita with this Lake Como Wedding

I dream of traveling to Lake Como, the Italian city synonymous with beauty and glamour. And this wedding, captured by Thecablookfotolab, embodies all the luxury and romance that is Lake Como. With a romantic ceremony overlooking the lake and an al fresco reception on the Villa LaCorte Del Lago’s gorgeous grounds, this destination wedding is the very definition of la dolce vita. See why in The Vault!

From ThecablookfotolabAutumn on the Como lake is as beautiful as summer. Or even more beautiful? It’s not as hot as in summer and you can breathe normally) I think that the real fall in Italy starts much later, in the end of October. And before it it’s the most pleasant and lovely time “after summer”.

Alevtina and Timur are a wonderful couple! They are super calm and super romantic. To tell the truth, I’ve never seen such a calm bride. Calm and sweet, that’s how I can describe her. They chose the perfect location: villa “La corte del lago” that is situated exactly near water on the lake Como. I loved the ceremony, the bride going down the alley backlighted with sun, the elegant and simple decor, the aperitif on the terrace facing the lake and the dinner with one long table. I felt so cozy there, like it was the wedding of one of my friends. That’s the kind of weddings that I really love doing.

From The Bride…For us it was a long journey across cities, countries and continents. What a better place to start than London, back in the spring of 2011 we met during one of my short trips. It’s a small world and of course we already had a few friends in common. Friday night at its best in Chelsea and we found a common language straight away. Perhaps I was too nice and willing to listen to all that clever stuff, however kindness and genuineness gave away that special person. Afternoon walks and “feeding” squirrels in the Regents park started our path to friendship. But it was not straightforward, he already signed to reallocate to Singapore and as we have met once more in Moscow, we were both afraid this was the last time. But we were determined to stay in touch, even across thousands of miles. Through the year there were many conversations about everything going on to the very early hours in the morning, mind the 4 hour difference.

As destiny had it, I mentioned a planned trip to Austria with my friends. Little did I expect, he flew over from other side of the world to join me. What choice did we had but to fall in love over the New Year celebrations in the snow? Happiness came with a pinch of salt as it is really hard to be in the long distance relationship. How could have I resisted to fly over to see him in Singapore and get away for a week in remote island in Borneo? We had to make it work on the long term and we did…

More challenges were ahead of us to overcome. First reallocation, living together, then finding a career path in the new city, and many others. But we always stuck together and made our home in Singapore. Three years after we met, a dinner at Brasserie Les Saveurs at St Regis, it was almost empty with only jazz band sharing their passion for music. Of course I said “yes”, there was no need for anything as I felt complete, happy and ready to star our new journey.

Now it made all the sense to plan a destination wedding. Given our families are in Moscow, lots of friends in London and colleagues in Singapore, Europe offered best middle ground. By luck we struck an offering of weddings in Italy and I remembered of my amazing ex colleague, Asya, that became a wedding planner in Italy at ItalianEasyWedding. It took us a year to put everything together, with of course a lot of help from Asya, who was the most understanding and supporting person ever! We have picked mid-September, at Corte de Lago, lake Como. Just 6 month before the wedding we managed to travel to Milan together and met all people involved the process in person. It was a relief that Villa was perfect, especially as we could have all of the family staying over the weekend. The florists easily was on the same page with ideas that I had in mind. Food…There is just no point in describing, it’s Italy. Of course you can’t leave Milan and not to go shopping.

It was a truly special day! All of our dearest people in the whole world came together to celebrate one of the happiest moments in our lives. Looking back it felt like it all went too fast but we were definitely enjoying every minute and for sure will remember that day for many more years to go.

From Italian Easy WeddingWe have started with the preparation of this sophisticated wedding about 1 year and a half before. The bride Alevtina wanted some special location, the one with not only nice villa and view, but also with the beautiful territory – not very small and not too big, where you can divide zones for the welcome, aperitif, ceremony and dinner. Surprisingly, the villa chosen was the one, we did’t visited personally together with the bride. So I was very worried if the couple would like it or not, as they have seen it in real only one day before the wedding. I was happy they loved it!

All the flowers and decor chosen were in blush, light pink and ivory colors in style of elegant shabby chic. The arch was made of whitened wood and hints of flowers together with the lanterns with the falling garland on the way of the bride. We made a long imperial table for about 60 guests facing the lake in front of the villa. At the beginning it was hidden from the guests’ eyes with the nice fabric, which we opened just before the dinner. For the cut of the cake the guests were waiting the couple making a corridor with the sparkles in their hands. These simple but bright and happy things add additional magic to the moment.

This Engagement Session Will Have You Booking a flight to Venice ASAP

As if we needed another reason to packs our bag and move to Venice PRONTO, this engagement session is certainly it. Overflowing with romance, gondola rides, AND the most adorable couple ever, we’ve got it all captured by Thecablookfotolab waiting for you in The Vault!

From ThecablookfotolabThese 2 lovebirds literally stole my heart. I think that people in love is the most harmonious thing ever. The way they look at each other, the way they keep the hands, the way they touch, everything around seem to be electrified by their emotion. For me this shooting was like a movie: so natural and easy. I love so much the idea of a destination engagement! What can be more romantic? Only destination engagement in Venice that ends in the gondola sailing to the sunset.

From the Bride-to-be…Alex was scheduled to go on a 6 month overseas assignment for work in March 2015. The week before he left, we went on a “farewell” road trip up the coast of California. He proposed in Big Sur at sunset on the beach, just the two of us. It was very exciting, but his departure was looming over us. The first six months of our engagement were definitely difficult, as he was in a remote place and had limited access to the internet (even less access to a phone!) So when he came home in September, we wanted to take a special trip to celebrate our engagement and being reunited. We decided to go to Italy because it is so romantic! I wanted to take engagement pictures in Venice so that we would always have a reminder of those happy moments. I found Darya on Style Me Pretty’s vendor guide and fell in love with the style of her photography immediately. It is so natural and filled with emotion. Alex and I were both apprehensive about taking photographs because don’t love having our pictures taken and thought we would feel awkward. However Darya made us feel SO comfortable and natural. She ended up spending the entire day with us, instead of just the few hours we booked her for, and we had such fun getting lost in Venice with her. The day that we thought be a chore ended up being the highlight of our whole trip. We can’t wait to see Darya again, hopefully soon!

A Beautiful Florence Affair Bursting with Vibrant Red and Pink Hues

Choosing a Big Day locale isn’t always easy, but for this darling duo with a love of Italian food and a dream of touring Italy, the choice was simple: Florence.  They whisked off to the land of romance and fine wine with their closest friends and family, all with the help of a talented team of vendors like Devoted To You, Tuscany Flowers and Chris+Lynn Photographers.  The results? Absolute magic with some of the most beautiful details you will ever lay your eyes upon.  Soak them all in in THE VAULT.

From Chris + Lynn Photographers… Robin & Gary knew that they wanted a small wedding with their closest family and friends. Robin had always wanted to go to Italy, and Gary had never been to Europe. After deciding to do something different, they planned to have a gorgeous wedding surrounded by gorgeous views of Florence. 40 guests traveled from various places to witness their beautiful wedding and celebrate with them. Robin wore a stunning Vera Wang wedding dress, and their decor was absolutely breathtaking with vibrant colors such as persimmon, strawberry, and papaya.

From the Bride… Gary and I started looking for a wedding venue in our hometown of Toronto but couldn’t find anything that was right for us. We decided we wanted to do something different and also small and intimate with our friends and family. We knew we wanted to have a romantic honeymoon in Europe afterwards… having a destination wedding there first seemed like the perfect solution.

We decided on Europe because Gary had never been there and we envisioned traveling together by train after the wedding. Our next decision was which country…our love of Italian food made Italy the winner! After reviewing many locations, we decided on Villa Vedetta for the amazing view of Florence – it is incredible! We wanted an outdoor wedding and it had a wonderful setting for a garden ceremony, cocktails by the pool, and dinner on a terrace facing a spectacular view of the city. The staff there also had a high level of service, was fluent in English and showed great attention to detail. It was the perfect choice!

Our wedding planner Carmen helped us through the entire process of planning our destination wedding by coordinating vendors and working with local counterparts to coordinate additional tour-related activities for our guests.

We wanted all our guests to really experience Florence so we planned a lot of activities. One day we brought everyone to a vineyard in Tuscany for a tour, wine tasting, and lunch. Another day we went to Sienna to explore the town and cathedral and to San Gimignano for local shopping. Yet another day we organized a guided walking tour of Florence. Throughout all these activities all our guests took photographs. We surprised each guest with polaroid cameras as a welcome gift when they first arrived at our hotel. We invited them to use these cameras for the duration of our trip and share the photos with us. And we made a contest as well with different categories. This was one of my favorites ideas because photography is so important to us and this activity brought us all together throughout the wedding week events. At the wedding, all the polaroids were displayed on ribbons in the reception hall; it was nice for everyone to see the trip through all the guests’ photos.

Some of my favorite memories from our destination wedding were the anticipation of getting ready and spending time with my maid of honor; taking photos on the streets of Florence, exploring the countryside of Tuscany in a vintage convertible, and our post-wedding portrait session with our photographers at the Abbey of San Galgano. It was a great adventure!

From Devoted To You… Planning this wedding for Robin and Gary has been a personal labor of love for me. From the moment we met, we clicked right away. It is always a bonus working with a bride who has so much in common with you and share the same interests. The countless hours we spent working together did not feel like work at all. We explored many cities and venue options in Europe and finally landed on Villa Le Vedetta, which has the best view of Florence and such a beautiful garden for ceremony. It was only 1.5 km away from the wedding venue of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and we were there just a week before their wedding, so being able to avoid the paparazzi crowd was a fortunate bonus. It was a lot of fun and adventure traveling with Robin and Gary since they haven’t been to Florence. In addition to planning the group activities for the guests and making sure they had a great time, I had planned the week full of activities. I made sure everyone had time to experience Florence the way it was meant to be experienced. But equally importantly, I wanted the photographers and videographers who were with them to be able to maximize all the photo and video opportunities. I think one of the essential aspects of destination weddings is to be able to take advantage of the beautiful and unique sceneries as backdrops and take as many photos as you can.

We coordinated all the airport and train station pick-ups for the guests and kicked off the wedding weekend with a warm welcome dinner. The following day, we arranged a tour to the country side of Tuscany where we had wine tasting and lunch at a castle, followed by walking tour in the medieval town in Sienna and San Gimignano while Robin and Gary snuck away from the tour and rented a vintage car to drive around the countryside with Chris + Lynn and StillMotion following them. On the wedding day, guests were invited to a walking tour in Florence while Robin and Gary prepared for their big day. The dinner view at the terrace of Villa Le Vedetta was so surreal with Duomo in the background. Everyone had a great time and wished that the night would not end.

On the last day, we planned a farewell breakfast for all the guests to say goodbye to the bride and groom before they departed to the next stop in their trip.

An Italian Garden Wedding With Total Fairytale Vibes

If you ask me, a destination wedding in Italy is ALWAYS a good idea. Especially one as straight-from-the-storybooks as this. I mean – that dress, that venue, and that al fresco reception set beneath the stars. It doesn’t get any better. Major kuddos to Tuscany Flowers , Galateo Ricevimenti, Baton NYCTuscan Wedding Cakes and One Fine Day for their incredible work. And Judy Pak, you’ve done it again with a gallery we can’t stop swooning. Take cues from a this couple, and start you weekend fun a wee bit early…we won’t tell!

From the Bride… Thinking back to those magical sun-kissed days in Tuscany, my heart overflows with the same warmth, love and gratitude that surrounded us during our 4-day wedding celebration! It was the greatest blessing to bring together our loved ones from different chapters of life (childhood, college, grad school, family, etc.) to celebrate the beginning of our adventure ahead as husband and wife.

We traveled to Tuscany for the first time nearly three years prior to the wedding and simply fell in love with the endless rolling hills, charming medieval towns, soul-warming meals and sumptuous brunellos (wine made from sangiovese grapes). Because we had guests traveling to Tuscany from all corners of the world, we really poured our hearts into every detail of the wedding – wanting it to be a memorable experience for everyone that was reflective of our tastes and love for this region. Our vision for the wedding was to transport guests to a magical fairy tale land, accentuating the beautiful natural landscape and grand gardens of La Foce with soft romantic décor. We were fortunate to work with an extremely talented team of vendors, who really helped us make tailor every aspect to the look and feel we wanted. (To help distill this, the former consultant in me felt compelled to create a 20-slide PowerPoint Wedding Inspiration Board filled with images that helped inform our decisions and ensure vendors understood our vision.)

The priority for me and Justin was to envelope our guests with one-of-a-kind experiences so the festivities would be as unique and special for them as they were for us. This included wine tasting at a medieval fortress atop the highest hill in Montalcino, a welcome dinner on the west façade of a castle facing the rolling hills at sunset, numerous thermal spa pool parties, and more. Justin even personally drove to Canalicchio di Sopra (our favorite producer of Brunello) to meet with Francesco (the owner) to secure special ‘reservas’ which we poured throughout the weekend and the wine we gave in our guest bags. To complement the wine, during our cocktail hour there was a carving station with aged prosciutto being freshly sliced off the leg. Food and wine are our passion so we personally designed the entire weekend menu based on inspiration from numerous meals at our favorite Tuscan spots in Rome, Florence, Milan and our hometown NYC. We are so thankful to Elise at Galateo (our caterer) for helping us personalize the dishes and Melanie at Tuscany Wedding cakes for creating our (delicious!) dream cake!

The best part of our wedding was being able to share so much of what we treasure with our closets family and friends. Judy and Amy’s team did such a great job of capturing gorgeous photos and videos of heart-felt moments and our loved ones from both sides bonding together as one big family….this was our favorite gift of all – to feel our worlds coming together as one. We are most grateful to our parents for helping us create this magical experience and for their patience and love throughout our journey. They are our role models and foundation; it is their warmth, support and humor that truly made it a weekend of free flowing love, laughter and vino!

From Baton NYC… There is no light more magical than in Tuscany. This Manhattan based couple choose to return to the countryside where they had shared romantic travels together. After an extensive search to find the perfect venue, they choose La Foce for their wedding ceremony and reception.
Guests arrived to the ceremony thru a secret door that opened to reveal a stunning floral arch next to a garden pool of floating lilies. Thoughtful details such as parasols for shade and having the program in both English and Chinese ensured that every guest was comfortable and included in the intimate ceremony.

The ceremony musicians began to play and the Bridal party processed down a dramatic stone staircase. The bride, in a dreamy Monique Lhullier wedding dress was accompanied by her proud father. Following the ceremony guests found their way to the upper gardens where they were treated to spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside, live music, traditional hors d’oeuvres and bubbly from a champagne tower.

The escort cards were hung from ribbons in Family Trees that were adorned with ancestral photos from the families of the Bride and Groom.
Dinner was inside a tall, clear tent styled with vintage chandeliers that gave off soft sunset tones of amber and rose. The romantic flowers and eclectic mixture of candelabras, votive holders and candlelight gave each table a unique look. The seated menu was thoughtfully chosen to give the guests a true Tuscan feast. Highlights of dinner were the heartfelt toasts by the proud parents, close family and friends.

Guests danced until the early morning under the Tuscan moonlight and a canopy of fairy lights. The dance floor was set half in, half out of the Limonia and beside the candlelit swimming pool. A photobooth, a candy buffet and both a traditional Italian and traditional American cake were served.

Forget The Day After: These Photos Are Proof Pre-Wedding Shoots Are the Next Big Thing

There’s something so special about the days before a wedding. The anticipation, the butterflies and the even the quiet moments before the celebration are all worth cherishing, which is why this pre-wedding shoot is kind of the best idea ever. Julia Kaptelova photographed this couple’s session set in Northern Italy, and the gallery is filled with inspiration like you wouldn’t believe.

From Julia KaptelovaJulia is originally from Russia and Gianluca is from Italy, 3 years after their fateful meeting in Thailand they decided to tie the knot, their wedding took place in North of Italy, but before it we made a pre-wedding photoshoot in Tuscany a in a magnificent 15th century villa Mangiacane built by the Machiavelli family. This unforgettable place in a heart of Tuscany with historic past gave unique atmosphere to all photoshoot. Delicate pink shade of villa perfectly matched color of bride’s gown by Anna Kubanova, hand-made diadem by Muse-for-me and vintage ring completed the look. In the evening we had a walk in olive groves and vineyards that surround villa, admiring sunset and the scenery of idyllic tuscan nature.

Chic + Intimate Elopement in Tuscany

Today we’re giving MAJOR props to this darling duo. For not only did they elope in THE most beautiful part of the world, but they also managed to plan the entire celebration via e-mail. I mean, that right there is proof that they had the utmost trust their vendors, and the payoff? AH-MAZING. It’s the perfect intimate ceremony complete with endless love and thanks to the ever-so-talented Jasmine Star we’ve got it all waiting in The Vault!

From the Bride… The most difficult part about planning an elopement in another county would be the communication, specifically the language barrier. Several of the important details from my perspective (hair, makeup, flowers, ceremony plans, etc.) were all discussed, negotiated, and confirmed/secured via email. That can of course be a little nerve-racking, especially when contracts and an exchange of monetary value is involved. However, as we’ve socially evolved as a culture over the past decade there are so many secure sites that make doing business internationally much more accommodating! Oh, and the time difference. Carl and I found ourselves up at 4am here in Florida calling the event coordinator at La Foce or our priest to discuss details, details, details.

The advice I would give to other brides wanting to plan an elopement internationally would be to start “planning” or at least securing your “must have” vendors (photographer, ceremony site, etc.) at least a year in advance. Engage with your “core vendors” for recommendations on other “must haves”. For example, when scouting a designer for a unique veil ask ask your photographer, “What’s the most beautiful veil you’ve ever photographed..and who designed it?”

Lean on your inner-circle of friends, colleagues, co-workers, family, etc. as a resource for different aspects of the inital planning. This could be as simple as posting on social media a question about “Anyone been to Italy? What was your favorite region? Any breathtaking venues I MUST know about when planning a special getaway?”

Build relationships with everyone you communicate (especially those who are located at your chosen destination). Yes, build relationships with folks you initially email simply inquiring about a venue, pricing on something, etc. How do you do this? Be diligent with your email follow through. Google their name and establishment to find something unique about them and mention it in your correspondence. Read reviews online and highlight something special someone said about their experience with said person and/or venue. If the person is extra helpful, write them a hand-written card thanking them. This “relationship building” in turns helps you find your “local liaison”…which brings be to my next point….

Find a local “liaison” of sorts to help you navigate the (even small) barriers of planning (language, time difference, etc.) This person isn’t necessary your “coordinator” (for instance Carl and I didn’t have a local coordinator/planner), but instead someone who you’ve emailed and/or spoken with on the phone enough times that you can perhaps Cc them in an email with someone they have referred you to to help explain something when you’re having difficultly understanding or “connecting a dot”. For instance, this person for us was the rental manager at the estate we stayed at and had our wedding ceremony. She was so helpful when we initially reached out to inquire about the property that I felt comfortable Ccing and including her on the email exchanges we had with our priest about ceremony details when we were each having a hard time articulating certain things. She was happy to chime in and help both ends fill in the blanks. We kept the theme of “relationship building” going with her by bringing her and her assistant a gift from Paris upon our arrival.

The real unexpected perk was getting to experience the special Sposi Novelli treatment at the Papal Audience where Pope Franicis welcomed people from all over the world to celebrate the anniversary of the Second Vatican Council and did a special blessing for those approved to sit up front (newlyweds!!!!). Newly married couples traveled from all over the world to experience this so for us having already scheduled a wedding and honeymoon in Italy and THEN finding out about this opportunity was definitely an UNEXPECTED perk. Needless to say we revolved our honeymoon schedule around getting a special blessing from The Pope. Apparently the tradition of “blessing newlyweds” has evolved over history (depending on who is Pope).

Villa

From Margherita Orlandi Martina and Giovanni got married during a sunny and warm day of June in the countryside around Lake Como, in Northern Italy. They chose a very special location where to celebrate their wedding reception, Villa Sommi Picenardi. This was the place where they met the very first time on the occasion of a friend’s wedding. So when they decided to become husband and wife, they asked me to start with the planning of the day visiting that particular location.

Villa Sommi Picenardi is an Eighteenth Century country house well known for its amazing english garden in the front side of the building, with rare worldwide plants, and most of all for its delicious italian “secret garden”, in the back yard, with fountains and statues and a staircase characterized by mosaics of Roman inspiration. Here overlooks the rustic hall where we decided to set the dinner, among the brick columns and under the oak-beamed ceiling.

The concept of Martina and Giovanni’s wedding was on the base of elegance and candor, so the main color they chose was white white combined with the most delicate hues of ivory and blush with small hints of green. Following this idea, Martina, that works in the industry of fashion, chose a lace and tulle big dress by the Italian designer Antonio Riva. After seeing the gown, Maurizio Buzzi, the flower designer, created the delicate bouquet made by white and blush peonies.

For the dining room the bride asked me to let my imagination run wild and to create something chic and refined. So I imagined a stylish atmosphere of lightness and freshness, pastel hues and luminous colors. My aim was to create an elegant setting in contrast with the rustic building where the event took place. With the help of the flower designer, I imagined a triumph of English roses (Martina’s favorite flowers), peonies and freesias combined with mirrors and antique silver candlesticks. For the napkins bows I used a satin blush ribbon with a lisianthus flower laid in the middle. Then I asked a calligrapher to write down the names of the guests on the escort cards.

All this scenery was made even more magical by the elegance of the couple and their lovely smiles of happiness for their marriage with each other. The talented photographer Marta Guenzi was so able to capture all these unique emotions with her romantic photography, making the memory absolutely perfect!

Day After Dolomite Mountain Newlywed Session

I started in on our Vault with these images from Thecablookfotolab and within seconds I was regretting that my new hubby and I hadn’t done a day after shoot after our nuptials last June. Still riding the romantic high from their wedding the day before, these two lovebirds just can’t take a bad picture – and Mother Nature’s beauty doesn’t hurt either. Fall in love with the whole scene right this way!

From Thecablookfotolab… One of the best things you can do is to stay with your friends and relatives on the wedding day and then to do the couple’s shoot in a wedding dress in some amazing location on the other part of the world the next day. Exactly like this couple did: after the wedding they came to Italy in order to do an unforgettable shoot in a breathtaking location: the crystal clear lake in the Dolomite Mountains.

I’m happy about the fact that more and more couples ask me to search for a beautiful location for them, they know that I’m addicted to beautiful places, and they drive with me then for 3-4 hours in order to get those beautiful pictures.

The sunset’s light, the love in their eyes, the beautiful gown, blue water of the lake, the mountains in the background, the natural and particular bouquet… Every single detail made this shoot unique. I love when the scenery is so beautiful that you don’t need to overload it with the details and everything is concentrated on the beauty of the image itself and on the feelings of the couple.
