A Wedding Overflowing With Elegance On The Côte d’Azur

If you’re thinking of a destination wedding, just take one look at this South of France stunner and your answer will be YES! A color palette of soft natural blush tones, set against a pink villa, sets the scene for this sweet celebration. The Wedding Planners Monaco sprinkled beauty and elegance into every aspect of the day, and the results have us breathless. The celebration was perfectly captured by Michelle Wever Photography. Take a trip to Nice in the full gallery for a look at all the lovely.

From the bride… We were inspired by the location of the beautiful Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. As the gardens and the building are so extraordinary, we wanted to keep it simple with the choice of colors of decorations and flowers, in order to complement the beauty around.

We wanted to use delicate roses as much as possible as this is our favorite flower. We even chose La Vie en Rose for the first dance!

Our wedding was all quite glamorous; men in smoking jackets, females in long dresses, French acoustic love songs, exclusive food such as truffles, caviar and all other spoils of life. It was a spectacular day we will never forget.

Every Fashion Forward Bride Needs To See This Couture Inspiration at a Neoclassical Château

Three couture gowns, one breathtaking château and an old world romance vibe that’s sure to inspire – these are just a few things you can expect to ooh and ahh over in today’s gorgeous editorial from Rachael Ellen Events. Raise your hand if you’re a total francophile (me, me, me!!)… then prepare to OBSESS over the full gallery of images captured by Molly Carr Photography. It’s a true french fairytale come to life!

From Molly Carr PhotographyThis shoot was inspired by the luxury French bride who hosts an entire week or weekend long experience for her wedding rather than just one day. These serve as inspiration for what the bride might wear for her welcome dinner, farewell brunch, rehearsal dinner etc. With the modern French bride in mind, we created a design perfect for the bride who loves the luxury of Paris, but wants to stay true to the romantic, old-world feel of the Loire Valley. We used shades of French Blue, Caramel, Rose, and blush to create a look that evoked the pastries of Marie Antoinette, the beautiful colors of the valley and the romantic nature of France.

For the wedding look, our bride wore a gorgeous Monique Lhullier gown – perfect for the setting. While grand and elegant, it also made a refined feminine statement with the low back and bow shoulder details. Her hair was styled in a classic french chignon and she wore natural, dewy makeup. Our groom wore a classic tux – the perfect counterpart to her absolutely bridal look. Every Little Letter created the gorgeous paper suite for this design. Mixing French blue, rose, pink, and caramel, the suite felt luxurious yet playful – perfect for the bride who would love the playful decor of the château.

We loved the way she mixed and matched textures, wax seals, tassels, and floral prints to create this custom chateau design. Our table was adorned with the same romantic tones as seen throughout the house and in Rococo paintings. Caramel, rose, and mauve taper candles gave the table setting height while overgrown florals added the perfect sense of romance. The blush linen was topped with a romantic chiffon runner and paired with velvet rose napkins to balance the caramel velvet chairs. We chose rose petal chargers to pair with the chateau china and vintage French glassware. Overall, we created a wedding fit for a modern Marie Antoinette complete with Loire Valley charm and French refinement.

A little more about the Chateau:
The smell of warm croissants, the touch of antique velvet curtains, the crisp Loire Valley Autumn air… Traveling in France is nothing short of an overwhelmingly beautiful sensory experience. Among the stunning châteaux of the region, the gorgeous Château Grand-lucé is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the beautiful ambiance that is France. The property allows you to take a step back into a time where days are spent wandering the rose gardens, enjoying tea in the grand salon, and admiring the many statues given as housewarming gifts by Louis XV. Over the years, the chateau has served many purposes. From housing philosophical leaders such as Voltaire, Diderot, and Rosseau to serving as a hospital during WWII, it now serves to fulfill its original intent – to inspire the most discerning traveler. The energy of the brilliant minds, incredible artists, and selective travellers who have walked the space is felt in every unforgettable room of this luxury hotel. Inspire it does with its 80 acre property, never ending gardens, stunning decor, and paintings by Jean Baptiste Pillement – his work is now seen in only one other location – Marie Antoinette Petit Trainon. Such a beautiful space deserves to be paired with – and only with – couture fashion.

The pastel neoclassical decor served as our main inspiration for this editorial. Picture a bride arriving to the château for her wedding weekend. She will need a gown for many occasions – her welcome dinner, rehearsal event, wedding ceremony, wedding reception, and of course, for wandering the gardens. Before her guests arrive, she enjoys stepping back in time – trying on her in gowns fit for a queen – and exploring a château all to herself. Each room begs for a different look with their distinctive touches of feminine luxury. It is a childhood fantasy – dressing up in couture gowns, running barefoot through an entirely pink dining room, jumping on beds draped in fine brocade fabric… Only this isn’t a fantasy. This is all real life and ready for any traveller or bride who wishes to be inspired. There is no space to mimic this level of authentic French neoclassicism while upholding such a fine level of luxury. This space and these gowns are fit for the modern queen and Francophile.

Picnic Like a Parisian with this 5 step Aperitif

If we had to pick one thing that the Parisians do crazy well, it’s picnicking (or maybe fashion). But for this how-to, we’re focusing on their ability to lay out the yummiest wine + cheese + baguette spreads. Learn the easy five step approach to packing a gorgeous French apero from Katie Donnelly Photography plus find even more pretty inspirtion in the VAULT.

Living in Paris there are only a few things that are ever certain: rain, red lipstick, the Eiffel Tower, and Parisians picnicking the second it becomes sunny. In France, picnics in the evening fall under the category of “aperitif” but everyone calls it “apero” for short.

While there are a few obvious things that always make their appearance (ahem, wine and cheese I’m looking at you!), there are some things you may not have thought of! Here’s your guide to the PERFECT Parisian apero. Santé!

An apero can consist of many different things but first and foremost, there is always wine. In the summer months you’re most likely to see people enjoying rosé. The best rosés come from the Côtes-de-Province. In France you can usually get them for less than 10 bucks. Even 5 euros will get you a good one! FYI: Rosé is drunk cold.

FROMAGE! (Aka cheese!) An apero is no fun without cheese. Traditionally, you have to have an odd amount of cheeses (3,5 or 7 different cheeses). There are over 3000 protected types of cheese in France so there’s a good selection to choose from!

Popular cheeses are:
Chèvre Frais (fresh goat cheese)
Comté
Contal
Brie
Roquefort
Tomme de Brebie
If you get a chance, head to a cheese market and ask the fromager (cheese merchant) what they would recommend! It’s a fab way to discover new and yummy cheeses!

Your quick guide to serving cheese:
If the French culture is anything, it is ceremonial. You have to serve and cut cheeses specific ways or else you could offend someone or give them a bad part with only the crust! Quick tips: if the cheese is round, you cut it like a pizza pie where everyone gets a triangular slice. If the cheese is square/horizontal (I’m looking at you Comté) you cut it horizontally so each piece has a bit of crust and no one is left with only a crust. Easy right? Bon appetit!

Snacks! Other essential snacks include olives, chips, and pretzels though aren’t limited there! Other ideas are hummus, peanuts, popcorn, and veges like tomatoes and carrots!

Baguette. Bread is a daily essential for the French and luckily for them, there is a bakery on about every corner! My favorite kind of French bread is the baguette tradition, it’s crunchier on the outside and more rustic. Perfect for eating with cheese!

Charcuterie. Dried meats are the last essential for your French apero! Saucisson (dried hard sausage), jambon de Bayonne (similar to prosciutto) and sometimes other European meats like chorizo make an appearance!

This Wedding Inspiration Will Have You Day Dreaming of a French Countryside Fête

This shoot is the epitome of French elegance and romance. A soft palette of french blue, blush, gold, and dove grey hues, two knockout gowns, and lush white blooms galore – every image perfectly captured by Kenzie Victory is tempting us with a one-way ticket to the french countryside. Rachael Ellen Events will have you swooning over her intimate, timeless designs as you scroll through all the pretty at the full gallery. Fashion forward destination brides – this was tailor made for you.

From Rachael Ellen Events… This design was created for “A Destination Workshop” hosted by Rachael Ellen Events and Kenzie Victory Photography. Our design leads you through the full scope of a destination wedding from getting ready to the ceremony to the dinner to the day after brunch.

For this design, I was inspired by the French countryside. While France is home to many beautiful and historic buildings, often the most highlighted weddings are those at castle like châteaux with opulent, over the top designs. My muse for this design was a bride who was less concerned about making an over the top statement and more concerned with creating something that felt intimate, romantic, and true to the region.

With this in mind, we chose soft french blue, blush, gold, and dove grey as our color palette. The table featured a soft blue linen balanced with romantic dove velvet napkins. The vintage crystal glassware and french blue china is part of Château de Mairy’s own collection and created a very intimate feel. Paired with lush white blooms and handmade paper goods from Michaela McBride Calligraphy, the tablescape was romantic, relatable, and perfectly French.

Our bride wore two beautiful gowns. The first dress was a simple tulle tea length gown – perfect for getting ready or wandering the halls of her chateau. We opted to design a floral installation in her bedroom to create an added sense of romance. Her wedding gown is the masterpiece of Alon Livne. The off the should pleated detail made this gown the perfect fashion statement for a bride getting married just miles outside of Paris. Our groom wore a classic black tux to perfectly balance her fashion-forward look. Her hair was styled in a sleek and romantic updo with minimal bridal makeup to create an undeniable “french girl” glam. The cake itself was inspired but the texture and architecture of the brides gown – perfectly created by Paris local Synie.

Our day after wedding brunch design was inspired by the close, intimate feel you share after a lovely night of celebrating. We wanted to table to feel light, lush, and romantic to celebrate the new couple. Monica of Lettering by GRG created a beautiful paper suite to pair with the Chateau floral china – the perfect French country feel. Our bride wore a gorgeous off the shoulder champagne dress – a paired down version of her wedding gown. Our groom wore a classic French cut suit and loafers.

You Have to See This Romantic French Chateau Wedding Dripping in Strings of Fairy Lights

The mesmerizing Château de Robernier, the ceiling of string lights above the courtyard reception, the bride’s barely-there makeup look… there’s just too much to love about today’s wedding from White Eden Weddings. If you’re secretly a francophile like us, then prepare to fall in love with every detail of this day, all captured beautifully by ARTIESE Studios! Check out the full gallery to see all the memorable moments, including the three sweetest flower girls of all time.

From White Eden WeddingsJenny & Mike’s wedding was a Provencal dream. They got married in the small village of Cotignac in Provence in the beautiful & fairy Chateau de Robernier. They wanted their wedding to be warm, timeless, welcoming, laidback and to have a great atmosphere for guests coming from overseas.

Jenny & Mike hosted a welcome dinner for all their guests the night before the wedding on the village main square for everyone to mingle and catch up before the big day. The wedding day was a perfect warm & sunny Summer day.

The ceremony took place in front of the Chateau, facing an open view and a round wooden arch. After this heartfelt & moving ceremony, guests enjoyed a fun cocktail hour to the sound of a jazz band, along with signature cocktails, canapés and live cooking shows.

At sunset, everyone headed to the Chateau’s courtyard for dinner, hosted under a ceiling of fairy lights. The feast featured typical and local provencal flavors topped with a naked cake, and dinner was punctuated with speeches from J&M’s dearest and closest guests.

The reception’s last highlight was definitely the party. The live band rocked their first dance to “You are the reason” by Calum Scott and then rocked the party, Jenny even took the mic and sang!

Find out the Meaning Behind Cherry Blossoms at Their Wedding – Warning: Major Happy Tears Ahead!

Not only is this wedding one of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen – from the venue to the fleurs – but it’s also sprinkled with sentimental design elements that all have a beautiful story behind the them. Wep in Provence took inspiration from the bride’s childhood memories to create a truly personalized and special day from start to finish. The couple’s adorable 7 month old son completely stole the show, the amount of “awww’s” that happened while going through Oliver Fly Photography’s stunning images were too frequent to count. Oh, and did we mention BIG DAY’s INSANE floral arrangements? I mean…. that arbor.is.everything. Keep on scrolling to see all this French fairytale has to offer.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning? What was your color palette and your style vision?

From the Bride… When we first started to plan the wedding, I envisioned an intimate and romantic setting. We wanted to celebrate our special day with our closest family and friends. Therefore, choosing La Bastide de Gordes worked perfectly with the vision of the wedding. Then, came the wonderful wedding planner who introduced us to Morgane of Big Day Flowers. The initial starting point was the floral arch. I wanted to create an ethereal, romantic, yet natural setting. I had taken a picture of a natural arch in one of my daily walks at Regent’s Park, London (I lived there for 10 years, before moving to Paris and meeting the love of my life in Paris). I showed the picture of the arch to Morgane, and then I told her the story of how I made a wish under a cherry blossom tree on Hyde Park, where I spoke to my late grandmother and asked to unite my life with my soulmate: someone who gets me, who is there for, someone I dance and laugh with together. 7 months after making this wish under the cherry blossom tree, I met my husband in Paris, where I had just moved. I asked Morgane if we could somehow incorporate the cherry blossoms into the floral arrangements, and she did so. It was a spring, a new beginning, love and romance featured in the wedding. The other detail was white butterflies. When I was a little girl, growing up in Bulgaria, my grandfather will take me to our villa in the summer, and on the way there, he will point out white butterflies that we will see flying above the grass and say to me ,”If you see a white butterfly, it means your whole summer will be beautiful!”

This is why, I found paper white butterflies, and had the lovely calligrapher Jessica Shady, write the names of our guests on them. The wedding style was very intimate, authentic, and romantic. It felt like a fairytale, and a dream come true.

Why did you choose this wedding venue?

We chose the wedding venue, because we had taken a weekend trip there two years prior to getting married. It was still the beginning of our relationship, and it is a special place for us. The venue is intimate, and incredibly romantic. We also thought the staff showed incredible hospitality towards us, and we thought it will be a great place to get married. I am Turkish-Bulgarian, and my husband is American. Many of our guests travelled from far away, and we wanted to give them an experience where they will truly enjoy themselves and have a lovely time. What uniquement elements or DIY details did you include ? The butterflies, the arch (the write up above explains it), but another detail is also the cake. It was litchee vanilla, and Made in Cake recreated the cake I used to have in London with my maid of honour, Anabela, during our coffee dates. Another unique detail was having my friend Tania (Grier) do my makeup. She was there during cocktail, wedding, and brunch, never leaving my side for a minute. I met her in London more than 10 years ago, and we immediately became friends. Whenever she would do my makeup for events I was invited to, we would jokingly say that she will one day do my wedding makeup. It was wonderful to have her there. She was also the one to put my veil on before I walked down the aisle – a very special moment for me.

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite detail?

All of it, but here are some of our most special moments:

– Our son :
This was the most wonderful and blessed moment of our wedding: to have our son be present and celebrate with us. He was there with me when getting ready, and he was the one to bring the rings down the aisle. The day after we had the ceremony, he turned 7 months exactly, and we had a ‘birthday party’ for him during brunch with his own cake and balloons that spelled his name. He was the highlight of everything.

– The ceremony led by my father in law :
It was very personal to have my husband’s father lead the ceremony. He did a beautiful job. It was personal, warm and lovely. In addition to that, we had three people that are very special to us (my husband’s two sisters, and my cousin) read three special poems to us. It was a very intimate and personal ceremony.

– Having Anabela as my maid of honor :
Anabela, my maid of honor, was absolutely wonderful. She has a very special place in my heart, and she has been such an inspiration, a friend. When my husband decided to propose to me, he had contacted her (she is a jewellery designer) and asked her to create the engagement ring. There is a pink heart inside the ring, to symbolize ‘the eternal romantic’ that I am. I wore her earrings during the ceremony, cocktail party the night before, and even during brunch. She was next to me along the way in this journey, and not only during the wedding. When I look back, it feels like she has been there in the most crucial moments of my life. An incredible friend, and it was such an honour and a blessing to have her there at every step of the way.

– The vows :
We decided to write our vows, and it was incredibly beautiful and touching. When my husband started to speak, I could not hold back my tears. It was the most romantic and wonderful thing anyone has ever done for me, and I will remember this very moment for the rest of my life. He wrote them that morning, and he kept showing me funny vows on Youtube couple of days before. He is also not someone to be very vocal about his emotions (instead he shows it with his actions), and I did not expect the vows to be so heartfelt, so beautiful and touching.

– Walking down the aisle, entering the aisle and seeing it all for the very first time :
We had spent a long time with Morgane planning the arch, the floral details, and the aisle decorations. However, I did not see any of it and how it all came together until I walked out into the gardens. It’s already a very emotional moment, but the second I walked out, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. It is an indescribable emotion, and it is absolutely thrilling, and beautiful. Overall our wedding made me feel that my whole life came together, from my childhood in Bulgaria, life spent between London, Istanbul, Paris and US, and the end was a fairytale like ending. I said in my vows that many years ago I had rewritten my life story as a fairytale, where everything that has happened good or bad, makes sense in the end, because it all leads me to my one true love. Our wedding day was truly the representation of that. In the end, it was only and ever love.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors for your guests, your cake… we want all the deets!

I have a leather goods label, and we decided to create custom business card holders for all the guests. We had our names and a logo that was created for us, by our talented graphic designer friend (Blackballoon Agency) printed on them. It was a personal touch to the wedding, and something the guests could take with themselves and use every day.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be ?

Simply relax and know that this is a day to celebrate your love. I did not stress over any details, including my dress. In fact, I chose it in few hours. It was the second store I went, and the second dress I tried on. I could have spent months trying to find another dress, but I focused on what matters: celebrating love, and that wedding celebration is only one day of your life. We also invited only closest family and friends, which made the wedding even more special and everyone commented on the positive and happy vibe. It was a wonderful wedding, because of the people we got to share it with. They were the ones who made it beautiful. This also reminds me of another important factor: choosing the wedding planner and all the other vendors. Once again, I chose everyone very quickly and looked not only at their portfolio, but their positivity as people. I spoke to my wedding planner over the phone (I live in Paris, and she is based in Provence). She was the second person I had spoken to, and I knew right away, she was the right one. I didn’t need to call anyone else on the list. I believe choosing the right people around you is important, because they can be there to support you and remember to have trust. This is very important.

A Romantic Wedding in the South of France that Didn’t End Until 4AM!

Leave it to Oliver Fly Photography, to deliver us the most romantic, French Riviera nuptials complete with an eye-catching ceremony view and creative floral designs by Miss Rose by Perinne. The lovely couple who wanted the entertainment to be the highlight of their destination wedding weekend with multiple aspects of music, including DJ Thomas Dussseune who kept the party going until 4 am! Get your scroll on and see all that White Eden Weddings put together for the ultimate South of France Wedding!

From White Eden WeddingsSolene & Matt’s wedding was created based on a destination, the French Riviera, and an experience: a very fun week-end. Guests were coming all the way from Los Angeles, New York, London, Asia, France… and the idea was to put together and plan the warmest, meaningful & effortless chic wedding. The overall color palette was infused by the bright but so natural colors of the South of France. We wanted to create a warm styling, a bit informal but definitely not over the top and embracing every single space. In order to greet everyone, welcome baskets with local treats, a vintage postcard & a wonderful hand-drawn itinerary map by the talented Silent Word Studio were waiting for guests in hotel rooms.

The entertainment was the priority of Matt, the atmosphere was Solene’s. Music was then naturally a central focus of the celebrations. Starting with the welcome party with a strolling band who literally got the partygoers singing their hearts out and dancing on their chairs, however, the second day wasn’t left out.
A threesome of strings escorted our lovely couple during the ceremony; Lizzy & the Gentlemen, a live jazz band, played during the cocktail hour; Four Kicks, a pop-cover band accompanied Solène & Matt’s grand entrance at dinner and played several sets during dinner and set the party on fire, until Thomas Dusseune took over and DJed until 4 am.

The styling of the reception was quite a challenge, as it was hosted on a tennis court. The idea was obviously to transform the space into a modern, effortless and elegant area. With the guests coming down from the most breathtaking terrace on the French Riviera after an emotional ceremony and a musical sun-set cocktail hour, disappointed wasn’t an option. You can say it wasn’t thanks to the beautiful shots of the so talented Oliver Fly. Building and decorating a tent is always a challenge. Only a very few couples envision their wedding receptions under a tent for their South of France wedding. When it comes to it (and especially when it’s a plan A), doing 3Ds mapping & sketches really helps to envision the space and work together with the couple until we find the perfect and most adapted design. Working with the most talented floral designers such as Miss Rose by Perrine is a must, which allows a mix of creativity and boldness! After 8 months of intense planning, seeing Solene & Matthew speechless entering the reception was literally everything, and was one of these moments that remind us why we love so much our work!

Lovers of All Things Pink & Floral Need to See This Stunning Villa Wedding in France!

Boy do we have a good one for you today, friends… a breathtaking French villa, pretty in pink details, floral instillations at every turn and the most unique and gorgeous escort card concept ever! We truly can’t say enough amazing things about this heavenly day planned Anne Laure Weddings. Head on over to the full gallery captured by Greg Finck Photography and don’t miss the bride’s story below (hint hint, she has the BEST advice to share for future brides!)

From the couple… We both had very different ideas of the types of wedding we wanted to have. I wanted to have a large party in the Bay Area celebrating with all of my friends. She wanted a more intimate setting out of the city. After much back and forth, we agreed to have it in France and closed on our wedding planner — Anne-Laure

We’re heavily involved in the music festival scene and we met a handful of our bridesmaids groomsmen, and friends though these festivals. So our wedding theme inspiration was music. Everything from our background music, ceremony music, table arrangements, fireworks, and first dance were all EDM-acoustic inspired.

We can’t stop raving about our wedding planner and vendors. It’s really important to develop a rapport with them so that they know how to manage you and your expectations the day of. We were able to relax a bit and joke around with some of the vendors — even took away some friendships out of this wedding.

Lastly, we want to pass on a few words. Everyone wants everything to be perfect, but that’s not always the case. For example, we prayed for no rain, we received Europe’s record breaking heat wave for 2019 instead.

Other minor details for the event did not unfold. The only people who knows about these things are you and the wedding planner. Your guests are completely oblivious to it. Don’t let the little things ruin your fun-filled day. At the end of the day, your guests are what make the wedding day a truly memorable day.

They arrived in the City of Light a few days early in order to have a sunrise pre wedding shoot at some of Paris’ most famous landmarks! They chose to have a sunrise shoot in order to have Paris all to themselves while capturing its one of a kind romanticism. Their wedding story came full circle since Paris was where Craig proposed to Laura! Laura chose an ethereal pale pink dress that floated in the wind and blended perfectly into the pale summer sky!

Her blush pink diamond engagement ring paired perfectly with her gown! For their wedding day the couple was inspired by French lawns and green gardens which is exactly why they chose Château Bouffémont. We chose to have the wedding dinner on the lawn with arches of lush green foliage enveloping the long dinner table. It both looked and felt like a secret garden!

Since the couple initially met in their college poetry class, they stressed early on their love of French literature and poetry! Because of this we made sure to have literary touches throughout the design. We found elegant and organic ways to incorporate this into the majority of the details! The welcome to our love story welcome sign, the weathered pages of vintage French novels, the chapters designating each course in the menu, the flower petal cones were made from pages of Ernest Hemmingway’s novel “The Sun Also Rises” that the couple chose themself!

If Peonies Are Your Fave Bloom, Then You NEED to See These One-Of-A-Kind Wedding Shoes

The talented team at Anne Laure Weddings is here to provide your daily dose of romantic wedding inspiration from the south of France! This dreamy shoot set at a stunning villa in Provence features a gorgeous beaded gown, pale pinks blooms by Flower and Twig and the most unique pair of wedding shoes we’ve ever seen – strappy pink sandals with an oversized peony at the ankle (yup, they’re just as amazing as they sound) Don’t miss out on all the beautiful details captured by Jenny Quicksall Photography at the full gallery!

From the planner, Anne Laure WeddingsI always wanted to organize an editorial in Provence as the light and atmosphere there are one of a kind. When Jenny Quicksall contacted me, we clicked right away and agreed on the venue and the mood in a heartbeat. We chose natural, soft and romantic colors to reflect the serenity and peacefulness of the venue, Villa Baulieu.

The wedding we imagined merged perfectly into the carefully curated French gardens, the historical castle and its magnificent water fountains. We imagined a first look in the rose garden followed by a couple session in the French maze.

The bride wore a natural make-up by Manon Declercq, a sumptuous Bo and Luca wedding gown with hand sewn beads from Sixtine Nice and amazing Giuseppe Zanotti shoes adorned with oversize peonies at the ankles. On her finger, she wore a charming rosé gold ring by Olive Avenue Jewelry. For our groom, we chose a classic yet efficient look featuring a black tuxedo, a black bow tie and black cufflinks. The intimate ceremony took place in the courtyard in front of the main house, surrounded by natural roses and framed by a unique arch made by Charlotte of Flower and Twig. As for the dinner table, we set it up by a huge water fountain across an alley of meticulously cut trees.

The vintage rentals were provided by Jolibazaar and the unique hand made stationery by Graphikkart. We deliberately decided not to have a centerpiece on the table but cut flowers in the shape of a garland to fit into the natural feeling of the editorial. The white and pale pink flowers provided a soft accent on the sand colored linens from Madame de la Maison and the matching rattan chargers of Jolibazaar. A simple, yet beautiful cake decorated with delicate sugar flowers and created by Made in Cake completed our editorial.

Out of All the Wedding Advice for Future Brides We’ve Heard – This Might Just Be Our Favorite!

After two years of planning, this gorgeous couple tied the knot in an elegant destination wedding weekend with their closest friends and family in the most romantic city in the world – Paris! Loli Events coordinated every thoughtful detail, from the intimate ceremony to the indoor reception that looks straight out of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast. Wild Blossom Flowers provided lush bouquets and heavenly arrangements, decorating their special day in white pillowy peonies and blush roses. Lucky for us, we get to live vicariously through the gorgeous full gallery captured perfectly by Oliver Fly Photography. To top it all off, keep on reading for the bride’s wise advice that every future bride-to-be needs to hear.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning ?

We had been engaged for two years prior to getting married which sounds like a long time, but in retrospect it gave us the time we needed to figure out exactly what we wanted to do—which was to host the trip of a lifetime for not only ourselves, but also our guests. We had heard that your wedding day flies by, and before you know it it’s over. Keeping that in mind we decided to do a destination wedding where we would have a few days to celebrate with family and friends leading up to and after our big day. Our must haves as foodies were food worth remembering and authentic cocktails. We also knew we wanted there to be lush greenery perhaps in a garden, as many flowers as possible, candlelight, music to keep everyone up on their feet, and a ceremony that truly spoke to us as a couple.

Why did you choose to do a Destination Wedding and why did you decide to choose Paris and La Maison des Polytechniciens as your final choice ?

My husband surprised me with a trip to Paris where we wound up having our engagement pictures taken! One very early morning we met our photographer, Oliver Fly, at the Trocadero and he not only gave us the most memorable experience, but filled us in on what a wedding in Paris could be like. We loved the idea and were quickly introduced to the woman who made it all possible, Coralie Prats, with LoliEvents. We must have toured over ten venues together and Coralie saved the best for last, La Maison des Polytechniciens. Upon arriving there was such a warm and friendly feel to the place as if we had been there before. It was comfortable yet so beautiful.

What was your color palette and your style vision ?

Our color palette was white and blush for a classic and timeless décor. Our venue had such beautiful, intricate gold walls that we wanted to keep our decor simple and play off the Parisian ambiance.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

Our custom napkins from On Three Designs were our only way of bringing our two Bengal cats to Paris with us! They were a special touch, but our favorite detail of the wedding weekend was replacing a welcome bag with a welcome boat cruise on the Seine.

What was your favorite moment ?

We asked one of our best friends, Dave Mathews, to officiate our wedding ceremony and he left us speechless. Dave customized the ceremony to speak to us as a couple taking everyone through what we loved about one another to moving in together, and eventually getting engaged. He spoke from the heart about the bond of marriage and facilitated a hand fasting made up of different color ribbons symbolizing purity, fidelity, growth and strength. The knot remains and we will cherish that forever.

What was your favorite detail ?

Our music! It’s always a hard choice deciding between a band or a DJ, but we were able to incorporate a little of both choosing a string quartet, JAM Trio, for the ceremony and cocktail hour and ultimately deciding on a DJ for the reception. Having been to countless weddings where you hear the same wedding music over and over again we were excited to break from the norm and play the music that mattered to us most. Having including different songs our guests weren’t expecting to hear it instantly set the tone for a unique and inspired wedding. From JAM Trio playing Feel It Still by Portugal The Man for our recessional music to us choosing Declan Donovan “Fallen So Young” as our first dance song we loved how customized our music felt. Everyone danced to Kanye West, Loud Luxury, and The Weeknd until the early morning.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your hair, your favors for your guests, your cake, etc…and others details that’s make your wedding so unique.

We love how French weddings are so genuine and center on the dinner reception. After cocktail hour we kept the wine flowing through a dinner full of speeches. The tables were filled with gold rimmed plates and glasses, white stem silverware, overflowing garden roses and an abundance of candles. The corner intricacies of the room were lit up and at the very center sat Steve in his Zegna tux and myself in my Pronovias Ribelia gown. After dinner came to an end we were surprised with a croquembouche lit up by sparklers and two glasses of champagne. We followed Johnny Balik’s “I Need It” down to the “party” cave where we danced the night away under a ceiling of balloons.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be ?

Make sure to take time for just the two of you throughout the day whether it be to sneak away after the ceremony and digest your vows, or pull each other aside and take in the room full of people celebrating you. Another piece of advice we found helpful was making sure to stay together so we wouldn’t have different experiences.

If you decide to go the destination wedding route, or even still with a wedding in the US, find vendors you mesh with. We were so lucky to not only love the work of our vendors, but to consider them our friends. We respected their opinions and partnership and in return they delivered us the most perfect day. It was truly enjoyable and an honor for us to work with them all. It made our day that much more fun. Trine Juel made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world not only transforming my skin, but the way I felt. She gave me the perfect brushed out retro waves that gave me much needed pep in my step. Oliver (Oliver Fly Photography) and Guillaume (Studio80Production) made us feel like celebrities all day long behind the camera and in seeing the results we are blown away. Being able to hold onto those pictures and watch our wedding video is so surreal.. you can’t put a price on it! JAM Trio, Le Bar, Wild Blossom, our rehearsal dinner at Astair, and the Maison team made our celebration so special.

The proposal story:

It was the Saturday before Easter 2017 and I set my alarm for earlier than I would have liked on a weekend. I knew it would mean a lot to Steve if I woke up early enough to grab a coffee in New York City and wander around like we lived there. Little did I know how much the day would actually mean to me. We headed into the city to grab brunch at one of our favorite French spots, Claudette, but upon realizing we were the first ones there we took a stroll down 5th avenue and took a pit stop in Artizia. There was a geranium silk bomber jacket in the window that actually caught Steve’s eye. While I piled my wrists with hangers Steve was checking out with the jacket and flashing the ring to the cashier as she tried to slow play the check out. He whisked me out of the store before I could make it to the dressing room and back to Claudette we went. It was a brisk day and Steve kept his hands tightly in his windbreaker.. something I didn’t realize until we replayed the day back. At brunch I ate my eggs benedict, Steve’s pancakes, a shared charcuterie plate, and a basket of pastries.. accompanied by a few mimosas. Steve claimed the espresso he had turned his stomach and he was glued to his phone because he was “dealing with last minute tax questions from his accountant”. Instead of exploring around the rest of the day as planned I fell into a relaxed, very full state as we drove home planning out our sleepy day of movies and Netflix. We sang along to all of our favorite songs and when we got close to home Steve asked me to try on my new jacket (apparently my leather jacket wasn’t ideal for engagement pictures haha). Pulling into our driveway I noticed the shade to the right of our front door was pulled down to the floor, which was unusual since we always left it up for our bengal cat, Theo, to watch out. Steve saw this and in panicking threw my purse and previous jacket onto the front yard, grabbed my hand, and said “I have a surprise for you!” “Is it another kitty?!” I replied in anticipation. We both laughed and as soon as I saw through the front door to all our friends and family I knew.. this was it..the moment I always dreamed of was here. In front of Steve’s family in from Michigan and Maryland, my family, and our closest friends Steve got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. I said “yes please” and we spent the rest of the afternoon celebrating at our house. He completely caught me off guard! Later that night we all went to a big Italian dinner and the surprises continued with more friends. It was the best day of our lives, until our wedding day two years later.

Would You Elope in Provence? If You Did It Could Look Like This…

I can’t count how many times I’ve ooh-ed and ahh-ed over a submission delivery from Koman Photography. Marlene and John are two of my favorite people in the industry (I know I shouldn’t have faves! But they are incredible). When they deliver inspirational shoots like this one here? It’s hard not to praise them. Along with styling and planning by Intens’ Events and florals by Fleurs de Fée, they brought to life what an uber romantic Provence elopement could look like and I am dying to see one of you do your own real version. Go ahead, dive in.

From Murielle of Intens’ EventsWhen the Komans and I decided to collaborate on this beautiful creative project, I immediately thought that Chateau de Tourreau would be the perfect backdrop. Built-in the middle of the 18th century, the chateau has survived the French Revolution and has become over the years the beautiful gem we know today. With its green shutters and beautiful park, it really has something special. Right from the start, we decided to include that green in our main color palette.

Through the design, we wanted to celebrate Spring, the rebirth of nature. When we leave winter and we are only at the beginning of Spring, there’s a burst of life, trees are in bloom and it’s like we are surrounded by clouds of flowers. We wanted these blooms to be our central theme and we chose each element of the shoot accordingly.

The first part of the shoot was a boudoir session. We created a soft and relaxing environment for our young bride. Fleurs de Fée designed this stunning floral arrangement mixing blooming branches and beautiful garden roses, in a soft color palette. Camille Bonardi created a natural look that highlights our bride’s beautiful curls and fresh complexion.

The intimate ceremony was set up in the park, using the fountain as a backdrop. Here again, Fleurs de Fée did an incredible job, using only white flowers and blooming branches, as if our couple was walking in a field, surrounded by all these Spring blooms. The bride and groom’s look was romantic, elegant and chic. The bride’s Claire Pettibone blush dress featured lots of delicate pastel flowers and Camille created a more sophisticated bridal look, beautifully styling our bride’s natural curls. The bouquet showcased a color palette of soft pinks and browns and was the perfect match to this sumptuous dress. For our groom, we chose a classic yet stylish look featuring a black tux and black bow tie.

The table setting was deliberately clean and simple as we wanted the focal point to be this burst of flowers gushing from the ground, ready to invade our table. We envisioned a refined tablescape showcasing a fresh color palette of immaculate whites, vibrant greens and antique gold, organic flowers and beautiful chargers, adding a touch of old-world charm to the design.

The cake, designed by Made in Cake, was a masterpiece all by itself and we were all very impressed by the meticulous and fabulous work she did on the sugared flowers. And what to say of the beautiful invitation suite created by Shelby from S. Libbrecht Studio, mixing green and white handmade paper with vellum.

We really feel like all the vendors involved have totally embraced the festive Spring mood we wanted to create and we are very grateful for the great job made by such a talented team.

This Classic Couple Tied the Knot at Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Wedding Venue and It Is STUNNING

This gorgeous day combines elements from two royal weddings – Megan Markle’s dress and Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s venue… this right here is what classic wedding dreams are made of. Oh, and did we mention the bride’s name is Megan too?! The talented team at Weddings of Excellence in Provence planned their elegant Provençal wedding weekend to perfection. All the can’t-miss details are at the full gallery captured by Katy Lunsford!

From Weddings of Excellence in ProvenceMegan & Oliver chose to get married in Provence, South of France, for multiple reasons. First, as an ode to her mother’s French heritage. Second, as Oliver is British and Megan is American, they knew a destination wedding would be the perfect way to blend their friends and family together.

Third and lastly, because Provence is known for it’s stunning landscape, incredible food and wine, warm weather, and beautiful chateaux. Megan was looking for the perfect backdrop – a romantic, outdoor setting that would take everyone’s breath away – and Ollie was looking for a grand, elegant venue where they could host a close group of friends.

It was their incredible wedding planner, Stephanie Fayolle of WEP Events, who found their dream venue right in her backyard – Chateau de Tourreau. “When we walked through the Chateau and out into the south side garden for the first time, I cried. I couldn’t believe I was really going to get married in Provence in this dream venue.

When it was all said and done, we were blown away by everything Provence had to offer. We found everything we were looking for – the backdrop, the venue, incredible food and wine, beautiful weather, fantastic vendors, and overall an experience that neither we nor our guests will ever forget!

Add This French Chateau to Your List of Dream Wedding Venues

From Orange County to the South of France, Kristin and Cameron’s destination wedding celebration is one for the books, and their venue might just be the next one you add to your wishlist. Château de Tourreau was a charming choice and with the help of White Eden Weddings, it became the setting for layers upon layers of elegance. Don’t take my word for it, spend a moment with the imagery from Rory Wylie and the film from Matthias Guerin. You’ll soon forget that you’re a virtual guest!

How and when did you meet? What do you do for work?

We met in Orange County, CA at an Angels baseball game. Cameron had extra tickets to his dugout suite and gave them to his friend, Mike. Mike was good friends with my roommate at the time, Danielle and he invited us both to the game. I met Cameron and thanked him for the tickets. We ended up talking the rest of the night about business, politics, and life goals…you know all the romantic stuff. I thought he was incredibly handsome, but I really was attracted to his mind, first! The game cameras had panned to our dugout, so our meeting was actually broadcast on live TV! Our friend Dave recorded it for us and we still watch it and laugh.

We now own our own business together in the private investments and tax advisory space.

Tell us about the proposal -When/where/how?

Cameron loves to surprise me. We casually looked at rings in the Summer of 2018, so I thought a proposal may come in the Fall of 2018. We had talked about a trip to Napa, so I suspected a proposal would come then. But much to surprise, we were getting ready to go to one of our favorite restaurants, The Ranch, and he asked me to come check out the sunset with him while we waited for our driver to arrive.

I walked over and he looked behind him. I realized he was making sure he had space for his knee, and started internally screaming! He told me “I hope you meant forever when you said forever, because you’re my best friend and I want to spend forever with you.” He got down on one knee and I of course said yes. We got to share some champagne and soak in the moment on the couch alone before heading to dinner. My parents surprised me and met us and we got to celebrate with them! It was simple, magical, and perfect.

What date were you married? What season was this and did you choose the season or date for any particular reason?

We got married on 4th May, 2019Springtime in Provence is famous. There are even candle scents and songs made about it. We wanted to go when everything was starting to bloom and the heat of summer hadn’t kicked in yet.

How did you choose the venue and what did you love about it?

Our planners, Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Weddings, sent us 5 venue options when we started looking. I kept coming back to “the one with the green shutters.” Everything about Chateau de Tourreau was perfect. A big factor was the ability to rent it for the long weekend. We wanted to create a full experience for our guests to really soak in the weekend. Almost all our guests were able to stay on the property with us. The ones that couldn’t were only a 5 minute walk away at an adorable Bed and Breakfast.

I also loved that it would be a completely private venue exclusively for us and our guests!

What type of bride were you? I.e. did you know what you wanted for the day immediately or was it a longer process?

I had never really dreamed of my wedding decor, theme, etc but I knew how I wanted to feel. I had heard so many horror stories from other brides about not remembering anything because things went by so quickly. One bride even told me she didn’t eat dinner because she was so busy running around. Cameron and I knew from the beginning we wanted people to be left feeling so much joy, love, and a chance to really slow down and be present.

From there, I worked with the planners to create an unforgettable wedding weekend for guests. This included a wine tour through Chateauneuf du Pape, games of pool and basketball, and brunch. The idea that guests would never be wanting so they could just enjoy themselves and mingle with the most important people to us. The florals, music, dress, and all the details just fell into place during the process. I even asked the planners to keep some things a surprise until the day of so I could feel like I was experiencing it with all my guests for the first time! In fact, we didn’t even visit the venue until the rehearsal!

What did you enjoy most about the lead up to the wedding?

The adventure of it all. I wasn’t sure exactly how it would all look, but I knew it would be a reflection of Cameron and I as a couple. There was a lot of trust involved on Cameron and my end with the planners and vendors and also a lot of trust on the guests end to travel across the world! I think it is a lot like Cameron and my love story… the journey, the adventure, and the surprises are what make it so much fun!

What inspired the style and theme of your wedding?

Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Wedding really helped me create the vision. I wanted it to feel classic romantic with a modern twist. It was also important to me it felt very French, not an American wedding thrown in France. Our color choices (French blue, gold, white) was a bit unexpected in the best way.

Did you have a wedding planner? How did you find them?

I did! I can hardly put into words how thankful I was for Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Weddings. They were there with me every step of the way and went above and beyond on the actual wedding day! I found them by google search. I searched for a few wedding planners based in South of France that had U.S. bride experience. They were only my second interview (via Skype) but I was in love! They were a young couple that also owned business together and I knew quickly that they were perfect for the job.

I had so much fun working with them. We 100% worked through Skype and email to plan. They totally supported my vision and offered great suggestions and touches that made the day stunning. They worked so hard to make sure everything went smoothly.

How would you describe the theme of your wedding day?

The day was full of love, joy, and acceptance. Because it was such a far destination, we had a small wedding of 40 guests. They came from all over, some were married, single, older, younger, and many had very different experiences. But the one thing they all had in common was love and support for Cameron and I. By the end, all our guests were raving about how they had made thirty new friends. Love was so present for everyone, and that is something I haven’t always seen at other weddings. It made me so happy to see the people I love most spending time together.

Were there any little styling details you’d like to tell us about? What inspired your choices with your overall personal look e.g. Dress, makeup, hair, accessories?

Because my hair and makeup vendor was local to Southern France, I didn’t meet her until my Friday night trial. My hair and makeup inspiration was Hollywood Glamour. I wanted big curls with a side sweep and fun hair barrettes for drama. Makeup was natural but glowy.

My something borrowed was my sister in law’s hair piece (it coincidentally had tiny feathers and pearls on it that matched my dress)! My something blue were my bouquet flowers, my something new was my dress, and my something old was a tiny ruby ladybug my grandmother gave to my mom was she was little. We pinned the ladybug safely in my bouquet.

Tell us about your dress and why you picked the dress you did? Did find it immediately or did you travel and search for longer?

I took a few friends and my mom to a couple bridal boutiques local in my area (Orange County, CA). I found it difficult to shop at first because I couldn’t believe I was trying on wedding dresses! It took awhile to not feel like an out of body experience. But after trying on 5 dresses or so, I quickly fell in love with the drama and glamour of the designer, Galia Lahav. I made an appointment to go to their flagship store with my mom and found “the one” pretty quickly.

We laughed that I had picked a dress with pearl straps and tiny feathers, but it we knew the Gatsby inspired dress would fit the venue beautifully.

Who did you have in your bridal party and what did it mean to you to have those people involved?

My bridal party included my best friends I’ve had since grade school, my sister in law who I consider a sister, the roommate that introduced Cameron and I, and my maid of honor, who I met in college.

Having friends fly across the world to support Cameron and I was such an honor. Some flew alone, took planes, trains, and automobiles. When I asked if they were sure, their response was always “I wouldn’t miss it.” The Chateau has an all white grand room that looks over the whole property where we all got to get ready and drink champagne together. I have incredible, very funny girlfriends that kept me laughing all day. It was impossible to be stressed!

Did you use other ways to involve friends and family in special moments during the day?

There is a chapel on the Chateau de Tourreau property that was built in 1612. The main colors inside are purple and gold and you can instantly feel the history when you walk inside. We invited all the guests to an informal prayer the morning of the wedding day. Guests shared kind words about the importance of a marriage rooted in faith and we all prayed together. When we walked outside then was a stillness and peace outside. I carried that with me throughout the day and it allowed me to be calm and present even in the flurry of getting ready and down the aisle. I had been refocused on what the day was about and what was most important.

Where did you source most of your ideas, including flowers and food?

I asked the planners for directions on florals. I wanted to keep the florals local to the Provence area. My only request was no eucalyptus!

For food, I looked up the caterer’s work on Instagram and loved their presentation. Our food at cocktail hour was whimsical and interactive. The live cooking stations (like fresh carved ham) and decadent bites (like foie gras macaroons) really made guests feel like they were in France. In addition to the traditional 3 course dinner, we thought it would be fun to offer late night bites to fuel the dancing. Mini burgers and Nutella crepes were very appreciated around 1am or so.

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

It’s hard to pick one so I’ll name a few.

For Cameron, it was morning prayer, the moment of our first look, seeing me walk down the aisle, and dancing to Old Town Road with all of our friends.

For me, it was my mom putting on my wedding shoes but I couldn’t reach and her telling me “the last time I did this, I think they were Mary Janes.” It was my planners telling me to slow down because I was running in my dress to see Cameron for the first time for our first look. It was riding with my dad to get to the aisle and barely fitting myself, my train, my veil, my bouquet, and my dad in the back. It was my dad telling me on that drive that “He’ll always love me,” and me telling him “I’ll always be his daughter.” It was walking away from the party back to the Chateau and carrying all that love and joy from our favorite people with me. Pure magic!

Where did you go on your honeymoon and why?

Before we took off for the honeymoon, we had leftover wedding cake and champagne in the kitchen and said a tearful goodbye to Chateau de Tourreau.

The first part of the honeymoon was the Amalfi Coast. We stayed at Le Sirenuse hotel in Positano for four days. Our favorite things we did in Amalfi was a private yacht from Positano to Capri, a private wine tour and five course lunch in Raito, a couple’s massage, and laying by the pool enjoying the signature Le Sirenuse cocktail with the view. It was so nice to be relaxed, full, and somewhat off the grid!

The second half of the honeymoon we spent in Paris. We felt like we had make a stop at the most romantic city in the world! We stayed at the Shangri-La Paris and had a terrace with an Eiffel Tower view! It was incredible. Our favorite moments of Paris wandering walking the streets, our 13 course meal at Guy Savoy, and watching the Eiffel Tower at night over champagne.

We couldn’t have planned such a spectacular honeymoon without the help of Katy Hennetar of Coveted Journeys. She made unique, authentic suggestions for the area and was thoughtful about balancing exploring and relaxing. All of the drivers she coordinated were always on time, spoke English, and were incredibly professional. We are never planning another trip without her!

What is your number one piece of advice you would give to other brides?

As much as possible, let go. As for the vendors and planners, trust the professionals that you hired to do their job! I gave general direction, but their suggestions were often far more beautiful than I could have imagined or directed.

As for the wedding day, the more you plan is the more that can go wrong. The best moments were the surprises. Not planning every second of the day allowed me to be so much more at peace and present throughout the day.

I would also recommend awesome planners. They kept the process leading up to the wedding fun, they thought of details I would have never considered (like guest bathroom details… who thinks of that)? and they made sure the actual wedding day was on time so there were no weird gaps or rushing through magical moments (like a first look).

How did you find your wedding photographer, how was it working with them, in the lead up and on the day?

Rory was recommended to us by our planners. We Skyped before wedding day, and I loved that she took the time to get to know us as a couple. I feel like it allowed her to capture the moments she knew would be important to us that way.

Wedding day couldn’t have gone more beautifully. There were moments I started to feel a little pressure on time, but she assured me there was nothing to worry about. I’m so glad she did because some of my favorite shots of the day were unplanned (like the ones with my parents in the entrance before the first look or the aerial view of me walking down the stairs).

Cameron and I didn’t have much trouble being natural in front of the camera, but to loosen up family and friends, she would say “fromage!” Which is of course “cheese” in French. We still say it when we take photos and it makes us smile.

Rory captured the day, emotion, and our most treasured people perfectly. We are so thankful we found her!

Is There Anywhere More Romantic for an Elopement than the French Countryside? We Think Not.

I’m betting that if we took a poll for dream elopement destinations, France would be at the tippy top of the majority results—if not, the number one spot. It comes complete with all things synonymous of romance including sprawling countryside scenes, charming chateaus like Château de Berne and vineyards galore. This vendor team, including Shades Waves, Un Jour Pétillant and L’art Qui Pousse had the right idea when selecting this location for their recent editorial. See all the dreaminess unfold below.

As wedding professionals, we want to organize an elopement of inspiration, in the Provençal hinterland. In the heart of Provence (French Riviera), the road in the middle of the countryside between woods and olive groves, is heading to Le Chateau de Berne, Relais et Chateau 5*.

Within 350,000 acres of organic vineyards, cellar master and wine waiters used to share their knowledge and passion of the local wine to loving couples who wish to celebrate their engagement in the middle of mother nature.

Le Château de Berne offers a dream landscape with refined luxury and enchanting outdoors, at Julia & Peter’s elopement!

This Is the Cherry Red Monique Lhuillier Wedding Gown We Can’t Stop Staring at #MajorHeartEyes

Layered with toile, organic vibes and all things French countryside, today’s inspiration shoot is coming straight from the creative genius of Greenwood Events for the latest Sylvie Gil Workshop. With a rich red and light blue palette, it’s just in time to inspire any upcoming Bastille Day or Independence Day events—packed with charm, no less. Have a peek at the full gallery and get in on the action yourself at Sylvie’s next workshop, March 2020 in Morocco!

From Darci of Greenwood Events… We were so thrilled when Sylvie invited us to design her 2019 France workshop at Chateau de Varennes. We had followed along for years and had always been inspired by the other designers before us.

My first thought was to intertwine our style, which is often described as “Classic Organic”, with a French Chateau, specifically Chateau Varennes. I really wanted to play upon the French lifestyle, and what could be more fitting than “French Country” in the French Countryside!

I have always loved toile, and even use it in my own home design, so I knew it was going to play a big role throughout the workshop. I also wanted to have the color palette feel really bright, yet Springy. Therefore, the reds with the different shades of teals, robins egg blue, duck egg blue, really felt unique but realistic for a real Bride to be inspired by.

We then set out to layer patterns of toile, French ticking, with classic tabletop pieces and designed fresh and lush floral arrangements that felt timeless and effortless.

To keep the entire workshop shoots cohesive, I place in mind of one specific type of Bride. This Bride was chic and smart, (I had her actually being a book editor in NYC in my head). She wanted her wedding events to feel like they belonged at a chateau but she also wanted to share some of her flair…thus the fashion! We worked with Gabrielle Hurwitz to style our models and she did an outstanding job reading my vision and bringing the “Bride” to life.

In summary, we feel so blessed and lucky to have been a part of this incredible workshop and designing in France was a dream. We can’t wait to go back!

The Ultimate Itinerary for a Memorable Destination Wedding Weekend

A few action items I immediately added to my bucket list after seeing this fete from my dear friend Rebecca Yale… try a Croquembouche, see a France sunset and experience the beauty of Dordogne. Rebecca’s imagery will truly make you feel as if you are there, experiencing every bit along with this darling duo for their multi-day event. And you may just want to add a few things to your wedding wish list after perusing the full gallery.

From Rebecca Yale Photography… Claire and Adam’s wedding in Dordogne was extra special to me because not only was it an amazing week of events at a chateau in France, but Claire also happens to be one of my best friends for 15+ years. I even got to flex my design muscles a little bit and designed the invitation and menu, with the help of some of my amazingly talented stationer friends including Ciarra Claire who made the custom sketch of the venue, Karla Lim of Written Word Calligraphy who made the font for the calligraphy and Valentina Glidden who hand calligraphed all the envelopes and day of paper goods.

The Dordogne region is straight out of a fairytale and many of the little towns feel untouched by the last few hundred years and you walk the streets like you’re walking back into time. The wedding was a a multi-day affair, kicking off with a welcome dinner of pizza and wine at the fairytale like chateau where all 45 of the wedding guests stayed. The next day, which was July 4th, was spent lounging by the pool followed by a rehearsal dinner at a lovely hotel in a nearby town, which was nearly derailed by a crazy hail storm! The wedding day started off bright and sunny, which made for a lovely morning of getting ready followed by a romantic first look in a grove of trees next to the chateau.

One of my favorite moments of the day was during the ceremony when it started to drizzle, Adam ran for an umbrella and held it during their vows to keep them dry—a true gentleman! The rain cleared for about 15 minutes, enough time for us to take a few post ceremony family portraits, but then it came back and this time as a torrential downpour! Guests all took cover in the chateau’s grand living room while the band played and it felt straight out of Downton Abbey. A three course dinner was enjoyed in the chateau’s stable under string lights followed by a second live band to dance the night away to.

Summer sunsets in France are late in the evening so we stole away for a few minutes to take some of my all time favorite golden hour portraits of Claire and Adam in the fields next to the chateau followed by sparklers on their Croquembouche, a traditional French dessert. Guests ended the night in the disco, dancing as a DJ spun into the wee hours of the morning. The next day everyone enjoyed a late sleep in followed by an organic wine tasting with local wines from the region.

Charming Loire Valley Wedding at Hotel Château du Grand-Lucé in France

When I see the names Matthew Oliver and Rebecca Yale, I know we’re in for a full-on dreamboat wedding. One that’s gracefully designed and molded to the couple and captured with equal care, respectively. Monica and Robby’s day is equal parts charm and elegance, with Hotel Château du Grand-Lucé as the backdrop. It’s safe to say that anyone would crave an invitation to a fete as grand as this one.

From Rebecca Yale Photography… Monica and Robby were married in a grand romantic fashion at the beautiful Chateau du Grand Lucé in the Loire Valley. The entire weekend was planned to perfection by Matthew Oliver and included a fabulous welcome dinner at a car museum followed by the wedding and then sent the guests off in style with a lovely Sunday brunch complete with yard games.

The historic chateau set a beautiful backdrop for the wedding reception while the beautiful town church was transformed for the ceremony by Madame Artisan Fleuriste with white roses and an abundance of greenery. Guests walked through the town square led by the bride and groom post-ceremony to a lovely cocktail hour in the gardens at the entrance to the chateau complete with a string quartet and signature champagne cocktails. Guests were then invited through to the other side of the chateau for a grand dinner in the classically French gardens with tables set between the landscaping and set with more white roses, greenery and the perfect French blue accents.

Guests enjoyed toasts made from the chateau steps followed by dancing with an incredible live band in the beautifully transformed stable ballroom, culminating in an amazing fireworks display in the gardens. After the fireworks, guests were invited down to the Orangerie for an afterparty with a gelato cart and grill perfect for late night snacks. The following day guests enjoyed a lovely brunch on the lawn of the Orangerie with lawn games and mimosas, the perfect hair of the dog after a night of partying!

Luxe Paris Wedding Inspiration with Six Couture Dresses

What’s better than one gorgeous couture wedding dress you ask? Well, six of course! Today’s editorial, dreamt up by Strawberry Milk Events is all the luxe bridal fashion inspiration you could ask for—at a charming chateau in Paris, no less. Take a peek below for the full spread by Le Secret d’Audrey, then head to the full gallery and let us know which gown you would choose!

From Strawberry Milk EventsOne hour outside of Paris lies Chateau Vaux le Vicomte, an estate so lavish that it landed its original owner in jail for the rest of his life. Nicolas Fouquet, finance minister to Louis XIV, tried to impress the sun king with building the extravagant chateau – and after 40 years of work, he held quite the bash to show off his accomplishment and impress the king. Unfortunately for Mr. Fouquet, he underestimated the king and instead of happiness, the king felt jealous and upstaged. Fouquet was subsequently arrested and thrown in prison for life. King Louis went on to “one up” Fouquet by building an even larger, over-the-top chateau — which we now all know as Versailles.

When Audrey from Le Secret d’Audrey asked if I would be willing to help plan and design a shoot at this magnificent and exclusive venue (which is rated one of the top 10 most luxurious venues in the entire world by publications like Town & Country magazine), it didn’t take much convincing. When she told me it needed to happen in just one month before the chateau reopened to the public, I was nervous (because I knew the caliber of the shoot needed to match the caliber of the venue – and hey, let’s be honest – orchestrating a shoot like this overseas in just 30 days is not for the faint of heart.) However, Audrey and I were convinced we could pull it off.

In such an incredible setting, the fashion had to hold its weight. We selected 6 different stunning high fashion gowns by various designers which were flown in from around the world, each telling a unique story. Some were lacy and others were frothed with feathers and one even was bold in a black swan/Natalie Portman way. We had Keren Wolf statement headpieces from Israel (who has styled the likes of Lady Gaga with her pieces), pretty paper from Ceci New York, a to DIE FOR highlight film from Caleb Jordan Lee of East West, and one of the most impressive cake situations I’ve ever seen (if you can call it that?! Cake seems like such an understatement – true artwork!) from Bastien Blanc Tailleur. The beauty team (Ciara and Sanni) nailed every look for each outfit change and made the atmosphere on set so much fun.

For the tabletop, the Grand Salon left big shoes to fill. We were lucky to find Esther Lamarche, a florist who was actually from the village right outside the Chateau and she did an amazing job with our floral vision for the ceremony arch and reception table. For the table, we selected gold Versace charger plates that were combined with vintage dinner plates and modern gold and white dipped flatware and cut crystal glassware from Vaiselle Vintage. I loved the juxtaposition of old and new tabletop elements to keep it fresh. Everything was shades of white with gold accents, to give a luxe feel that was appropriate for the venue. The beautiful laser cut Nuage linen was put over a nude linen for some contrast, which made everything pop (especially for Audrey’s overhead room shot!) One of my absolute favorite table elements were custom plate portraits I had made and were calligraphed by Studio French Blue – I felt that detail alone captured the spirit of the shoot and history of the venue perfectly! The whole team was super talented and each played an integral role in this epic editorial which was dreamily captured by Audrey in her signature rosy hues. A special thanks also to Valerie Lafourcade, the venue manager who made it all happen! La Vie est Belle.
