From Tamara Gruner Photography and Weddings of Excellence in ProvenceThe delicate rays of the late spring sun cast a mesmerizing spell on the vineyards and surrounding rolling hills. The winding stream waltzed to the tune of the gentle breeze. Nestled in such a whimsical landscape in charming Provence is an elegant and magical piece of land – Blanche Fleur. Adorned in her Nany’n dress the bride started the day by gracing an ancient chapel. Glowing in candle light, all around, she paused to reflect on her magical day. Delicately holding her bouquet of ivory roses she gingerly walked down the aisle – decked with candles – to her beau. Dressed immaculately in his blue tuxedo, the groom was waiting to hold his charming bride. The arch, decorated with pink and white peonies, was the ideal backdrop for an intimate ceremony. The table setting for six, under the veil of an arching tree, was lavishly decorated with roses, peonies and hydrangea, candles, and drift wood. Exquisite hand calligraphed menu and place cards embellished the place setting. The guests were pampered with a wide array of Provençal culinary delights. The day was long gone but the couple strolled in each other’s arms – romancing. They stopped by the vineyards, listened to the rhythm of the flowing brook, and paused to dream. A dream that is now filled only with roses.

Intimate + Elegant Wedding in Paris

There’s something about Paris that the second I see a photo of the City of Lights, I immediately start dreaming of ways to move back. And these photos from Le Secret d’Audrey have me tempted to grab my passport and pack my bags. From the Bride’s stunning Sherri Hill gown, to the intimate ceremony and reception planned to perfection by Rendez-Vous in Paris and the portrait session around the city, this soirée has me dreaming of la belle vie. See all the beauty here in the gallery.

From the Bride… While living in Dallas, I befriended my neighbor Cameron, we would often run together in the park across the street from our building. After a run one Friday, we went to hang out by the pool (spoiler alert: I don’t end up dating Cameron!).

While at the pool, I went on a rant, complaining about the overall lack of decent men in Dallas. Cameron tells me he has the perfect guy for me, then gets Brad on the phone. Cameron and Brad had recently worked together. The conversation went something like this:

Cameron: “Hey man, remember that girl you saw on my Facebook and thought was hot?”

Brad: “I think so…”

Cameron: “Hold on, here she is.”

This lead to our immediate, first, and very awkward conversation on the phone! We both laughed it off and decided we would all have to get together some time. Cameron later brokered the exchange of our contact information but Brad never called!

So, I did what any self-respecting girl would do. I found him on Facebook, changed my profile picture to one of me in a bikini and sent him a “friend request.”

Some time went by without an acceptance from Brad. Then, he accepted me and called instantly. He later admitted to finally seeing the request, scrolling through all of my pictures and immediately calling me once he saw what I looked like! What a catch!

Shortly after, we went on our first date and we’ve pretty much been inseparable ever since!

The proposal occurred during the Christmas and Candle Light Tour at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC. We got in the photo line to have our pictures taken in front of a massive and beautiful Christmas tree. After the first picture was taken, Brad asked the photographer if she would take one more. Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was prefect!!!

Our wedding was slightly unconventional to say the least. Our wedding reception was held at Tour Eiffel 58 (restaurant on the second level of the Eiffel Tour.) I mention the reception first because it was the night before the wedding. Guest dined on four courses of French cuisine while enjoying a breathtaking view of Paris at night. The wedding was the next day at the Chapel Expiatoire.

The ceremony opened with the mothers being seated, while a violinist and pianist played Make You Feel My Love. I walked down the aisle to Cannon in D and the musicians played So This is Love (from the Cinderella Waltz) during our first kiss as husband and wife. Before the first kiss, the Officiate asked the mothers to come up and stand next to us. Then he read, “before the couple has their first kiss as husband an wife, it is only fitting that their last kiss as singles, come from the women who gave them there very first kiss.” This moment was a surprise for the mothers and they both lost their composure. It was beautiful!

I would have to say the most unique moment in the wedding was the scripture reading. Brad told me he would take care of selecting a scripture for his sister to read during the ceremony. I was very concerned nonetheless I relinquished the task. During the ceremony his sister read a scripture followed by a reading of a card that I’d sent Brad a couple years back. She said, Brad told her that he saved the card because after reading it he knew I was the woman he wanted to marry. After the wedding we flew to Barcelona, Spain where we honeymooned for five days!!

Before the wedding my girlfriends asked what do I think Brad will do when he sees me walking down the aisle. Knowing that Brad is non-demonstrative and that I’ve only seen him cry twice I’d rely, “I’m not sure what he will do but I’m positive he won’t cry!” Well I was wrong; I got to the top of the stairs at the Chapel and saw my best friend and now husband, waiting for me with tears in his eyes. Hands down, the absolute BEST thing about my wedding day!!

Romantic Haute Couture Wedding Inspiration in Paris

This stunning Parisian inspiration photo shoot from Le Secret d’Audrey and Vanessa & Caroline all started with a Krikor Jabotian dress, and oh my goodness, is it a dress. I’m not usually a beaded gown type of girl, but the Lebanese designer’s dreamy blush masterpiece stole my heart, and now, there’s no going back. I’m OK with that though because I want to live in this Parisian fête, especially with the romantic florals and gilded French ballroom. Fall in love here.

From Vanessa & Caroline – Créatrices de Mariages … We fell in love with Lebanese designer Krikor Jabotian and we wanted to shoot one of his amazing dress. We both agreed on this particular model ‘The Feyrouze’ as is it so unique and luminous. From there we built this styled shoot around gold and blush colors with an elegant yet simple and chic style.

Maison Champs-Elysées was a perfect fit with its golden decorations and elegant Paris feel, it matched our shoot ideally and is an amazing venue for a typical Paris reception in the heart of Paris, near the Champs-Elysées and the Eiffel Tower.

Paris is such a romantic city, it is really the city to fall in love all over again and it is one of the best place to get married. Everywhere in the city you can find spots to have a small ceremony and have great couple pictures. We love to plan intimate romantic weddings and hidden venues where couples can enjoy the authenticity of Paris.

The idea was to shoot a beautiful couple eloping in Paris, and show a dress different form the usual white one: a blush and golden gown that sparkles and reminds of Paris’s beauty and lights.

We decided to chose an organic and elegant style for the flowers and Lily Paloma created a centerpiece and bouquet that highlighted the table as well as the dress. The stationery from Imprimerie du Marais in letterpress and golden hues added perfectly to the mix. And the final touch with and elegant wedding cake from Synie’s Cupcakes.

Glamorous French Riviera Wedding

Purple with a purpose, that’s what I’m dubbing this gorgeous Lavender And Rose Weddings fete. One seriously glamorous affair straight from the lens of Greg Finck, it’s as if a fairytale has come to life. From the lovely ombre cake to the red carpet romance (complete with bubbles!) – it’s all waiting for you in the gorgeous gallery!

From Greg Finck… Diana and Jason are a sweet couple from Vancouver, who had decided to choose the warmer climate of the French Riviera to tie the knot.

Lying on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, Le Château de la Napoule is a medieval castle full of French charm and elegance. Beauty is everywhere there, from the patios, to the gardens, and the amazing terrace looking down on the Bay of Cannes. This elegant venue just calls for summer laziness and easy breeze lifestyle.

For the occasion, the venue had been covered of purple and pink, thanks to the amazing job of Yeoman’s Flowers. Owned by the bride’s uncle, Yeoman’s Flowers has nailed floral design by emphasizing the beauty of the venue with sprays of amazing lilac and cherry tree branches.

The day has been perfectly planned and designed – as always – by the superstars of Lavender&Rose. Attentions and details for the newly weds were everywhere, with a special mention for the couple custom cocktail : a Champagne and Blueberry treat, perfectly matching the color palette of the day. And please don’t start me on the Ladurée gift box of macarons that I have used to shoot the bride’s amazing engagement ring.

The outdoor ceremony was held in a private garden just nearby the shores, under an amazing late afternoon light. This was such an intense moment when everyone has been overwhelmed by the couple perfect vows. The cocktail hour and dinner were led by one of the most prestigious French caterer Potel&Chabot. Canapés and courses were truly amazing both by the taste and presentation, and I still can’t believe in that smoking blue cheese and purple endives plate.

The elegant dinner was held in one of the castle’s indoor room and ended by an amazing dancing party led by DJ Thomas Dusseune. What a beautiful Spring day on the French Riviera. All my congratulations go to Diana&Jason for having us shared such an amazing moment.

Glamorous French Riviera Engagement Session

An engagement on the French Riviera sounds incredible in and of itself. But toss in a chic, glittery champagne gown, a bottle of bubbly and the amazing Greg Finck behind the lens? And it turns into a love sesh that we’re lusting after. Lavender & Rose Weddings planned every pretty bit of this couple’s big day (which we’re sharing tomorrow!) and it’s every bit as stunning. Stay tuned!

From Greg FinckLe Cap d’Antibes is nothing short from being one of the most prestigious area of the French Riviera. This small peninsula between Nice and Monaco is a hidden gem, and the location of the most amazing hotels of the Cote d’Azur. This is where most of the movie stars lodge during the week of the Cannes Film Festival. Everything here call for turquoise sea, easy breeze lifestyle, and amazing landscapes.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of an engagement shoot before your wedding day. Diana and Jason had come all the way from Vancouver for that session, and to get acquainted with their photographer before the big day. They had rent a private driver to take us all the way along the Cap d’Antibes coast, so that we could stop in all of the beautiful spots.

We started the session on the rocks shore, with an incredible view on Cannes. I must say this was quite a hike, especially for Diana in a stunning glitter gown covered with sequins, and high heels. But I am always looking for the best views and background, even though that implies a little bit of acrobatics.

We then headed to a more peaceful beach, where the sweet couple could enjoy a cup of Champagne on a dock, with a breathtaking view on the Mediterranean Sea. I can’t wait to share with you the wedding day of these two love birds now.

Destination Engagement Session in Bordeaux, France

Our perfect day spent traveling would be free from an itinerary and full of unplanned moments, which is why we’re obsessed with this romantic engagement session in the southwest of France! Bubblerock Photography captured this traveling New Zealand couple as they enjoyed a lazy morning in and leisurely explored the fog-swept city, and you can find all the dreamy photos in the full gallery right here!

From Bubblerock PhotographyWhen you think engagement session, you often think outdoors, by the beach, on a mountain but not often do you see anything cozy and inside, with a nice breakfast to get started. But this is what we wanted to do with Eddy and Kev because they wanted something more intimate, cozy, and them: a quiet morning in before exploring a new city in the afternoon.

Originally from New Zealand, both were traveling through France when we set the date for the engagement session in Bordeaux. The weather wasn’t very cooperative but it made for more incredible and unique pictures for them.

Lovers of good food, good books and good architecture, they found everything they wanted in this gorgeous city of the South West of France, and more.

Toe That Line’s C.J.’s Romantic Paris Engagement Session

Ahhhh, Paris. The City of Light, City of Love… Whatever you call it, Paris is truly magical, and the most romantic city in the world to fall in love — and  have your engagement session! Blogger Bride-to-be, C.J. of Toe That Line, and her handsome fiancé (who met on an international class trip in law school!) did just that, and shared all the Rhianne Jones-captured dreamy, Parisian magic with us in the gallery here!

From the beautiful Bride… Traveling is probably our greatest shared love (well, after food, but sometimes they are one in the same!). We have traveled to over 18 countries across five continents together over the past few years. In fact, we met on an international class trip in law school and we were engaged while traveling in Istanbul. When it came time to plan our wedding, a destination was a natural fit.

I truly wanted a French feel to our wedding, combining the rustic charm of Provence with the beachy fun of San Tropez. While we eventually settled on the “American Riviera,” satisfying each of those styles in the areas surrounding Santa Barbara, I started out hoping for the South of France.

Because he was the absolute best fiancé on earth and he knew about my dreams, he planned a surprise trip for my 30th birthday. We would visit both Paris and the French Riviera! When I got wind of the plan, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to have our engagement photos taken. Enter Rhianne Jones, an adorable Brit living and working in Paris. After much research, we chose Rhianne to be our photographer for that chilly February morning and we are beyond pleased with the result.

We were blessed with a brilliant sunrise in the City of Light and now we have memories – and stunning images – to last a lifetime. It also afforded me the opportunity to shoot for my style blog in the most amazing of locations. And, in the process, we got an unforgettable tour of fair Paris. From the steps of the Trocadero to the Pont Alexandre bridge (which became the image used on our Save the Date card) to croissants and coffee at a perfectly Parisian cafe! We even got the chance to add our own lock (which he thoughtfully designed and ordered in advance) to the collection on the Pont des Arts bridge. A dream come true!

While we didn’t end up selecting any of the French venues we visited to host our nuptials, I couldn’t be happier that we made the trip together and captured our time in Paris to celebrate our engagement.

From Les Productions De La FabrikKristy & Colin come from Austin, in Texas. They decided to get married in the City of Love, just the two of them, and their elopement took place in front of the Eiffel Tower, at the romantic Bir Hakeim Bridge. The sunny spring was there and tears and laughs too! We had such a lovely time for the couple shots in Paris, with a delicate sunset on the Alexander III Bridge.

Romantic Anniversary Session in the City of Love

It’s hard for me to put into words how special Paris truly is. Even after spending a year living in the City of Lights, I’m still mesmerized by its magic, and no photographs seem to do it justice. But the photos of this couple’s romantic anniversary session from Gert Huygaerts Photography come close.  As the beautiful bride perfectly states below, “leaving Paris awakened something in us.” One look at the gallery, and I promise you’ll be awakened, too.

From the beautiful Bride… After my trip to Paris, I truly understand why it is called the city of love. It is a magical place like no other. The city gives couples the chance to reminisce and forget about all the worries of everyday life. Time slows down there and you learn to appreciate all the smells, light, sounds, and beauty around you. It would be impossible to explain the giddiness I felt while wandering this old city with my husband. It is something that neither of us will ever forget… that day we walked through Paris hand-in-hand and so in love.

“We travel to open our hearts and eyes. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again – to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.” – Pico Iyer

I read this quote before our trip to Paris and it hit home. Marriage can be hard work and sometimes you just need to take a moment to escape together and remember why you fell in love in the first place. This trip definitely opened our eyes and brought us that much closer together. We are so thankful for that experience.

It was a slow Wednesday evening in January and my husband was stuck late at work. I texted him “Let’s go to Paris!”. He thought I was joking… A couple of weeks earlier we agreed to go on a trip instead of exchanging normal presents for Christmas. We have traveled up and down the east coast together, but never to Europe. I started looking at plane tickets and realized we could make this Europe trip a reality. A month later and we were there, in Paris! It was a dream come true and we both couldn’t have been happier.

As a wedding planner I knew we would have to take this once in a lifetime opportunity and get some anniversary photos taken. I found Gert Huygaerts Photography through the SMP Little Black Book. I instantly fell in love with his film photography and knew he would be the perfect fit!

The day before the photo shoot my husband and I roamed the city. We gathered local fruits, flowers, and desserts. We had so much fun foraging together. I love sharing my passion for design with my husband and it makes me smile when he enjoys being a part of the process. The shoot was a last minute idea, just like the trip itself, but we poured our hearts into it. It is a true reflection of us and our love for sweets, flowers, and everything Parisian.

We woke up the morning of the shoot and were so happy to have decent weather. It was a bit overcast, but the temperature was nice. Ciara Coiffure and Charles Gillman met me at our flat for hair and makeup and worked their magic. I slipped on my gorgeous Erin Fetherston gown and we were out the door! Gert guided us around all the most beautiful parts of the city. The photo shoot was a tour in itself! We traveled to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Tuileries Garden, the Seine River, and ended it back at our flat across from Notre Dame. It was a whirlwind of a day, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Leaving Paris was tough, but it awakened something in both of us. It made us want to live a little more and appreciate every day. Since our return home we are already trying to plan our trip back! Paris does that to you.

Charming Burgundy Wedding Inspiration

Chéris, you’re about to feast you’re eyes on the gorgeous that happens when Sylvie Gil hosts one of her workshops—100% pure pretty loaded with inspiration that we’ll be pinning for days. The incredible Brooke Keegan layered in her beautiful touch with a heaping dose of elegance, sprinkled with charm, and wild blooms from Holly Flora to boot. It’s just what we envision the perfect French destination wedding to be.

From Sylvie GilThis wedding was created for the exclusive 4-day film photography workshop held in Burgundy, France every year in April. Lead by fine art film photographer Sylvie Gil, L’amour et L’image brings to France some of the leaders of the American wedding industry.

An amazing team of creatives, some of the top wedding professionals in the United States, joined us to style and design beautiful weddings scenes in this stunning environment.

From Brooke KeeganChateau de Varennes is located in the gorgeous Burgundy region of France. With its expansive grounds, gardens, chateaux and chapel, it makes for the perfect wedding venue. Just recently named CNN’s top ten wedding venues worldwide, it was the only venue in France to receive these honors. When Sylvie was in search of the perfect workshop location and came across Chateau de Varennes, it was a no brainer!

When Sylvie asked me to collaborate with her, I was so excited to dive in and start designing. I knew I had to bring over the rock star duo, Holly and Becky from Holly Flora to help me execute my vision. I wanted there to be cohesiveness throughout the 3 days of the workshop, but I also wanted to create interest and slightly different color palettes to keep the attendees interested from day to day. The underlying tone of the week was the color blush. Some say it is such a traditional decision, but every day, I put a completely different twist on such a “tradition” and “typical” color that is often incorporated in weddings because it is timeless.

All of the attendees were able to sign up for one on ones with the instructors. The great thing is that each instructor offered a different type of one on one. Bianca from Little Miss Press offered a calligraphy class, which all of the attendees loved, and Holly Flora offered foraging in the backcountry of the chateaux. This gave the attendees the opportunity to help pick the items that would accompany the floral designs for the day.

The first day we infused it with natural greens, ivories, whites and blooming branches into the styled shoots. The second day, we infused a deep burgundy color with the blush as well as blooming branches, whites, ivories and natural greens. And the third and final day, we incorporated mixed metals along with blush, butter yellow, whites, ivories, soft peach and natural greens. Where they all had the underlying blush tone, they all looked different and created a different mood and feel for each day. It is proof that blush can be more impactful when paired with other colors and tones!

Romantic Paris Theme Wedding at The Historic Smithville Inn

We’re suckers for a Parisian love story, and this one will steal your heart. Primrose And Company captured the magic of the City of Lights in this romantic wedding, which features a sentimental lock and key theme inspired by the Groom’s proposal at the Ponte de Arts. Mary + Roy snapped away at all the pretty, which you’ll find in the full gallery right here!

From Primrose And CompanyMeghan and Kyle met and became Seahawk Sweethearts while attending Wagner College. After six years of dating, the couple took a summer vacation to Europe. While in Paris, Meghan surprised Kyle with a padlock to lock on the famous bridge Ponte de Arts. People from all across the world take part in this romantic tradition, where they place a padlock on the bridge and throw away the key into the Seine River, all awhile making a wish. The couple accidentally put their lock on the wrong bridge. However, Meghan’s wish did come true when the couple finally found Ponte de Arts and Kyle got down on one knee and asked for Meghan’s hand in marriage. In addition to the gorgeous ring, Kyle had also brought a padlock to Paris but didn’t mention it to Meghan when she had presented him with the lock she had brought. Later, Kyle’s padlock was placed on their wedding cake, bringing the magic of their Paris love story to their New Jersey wedding reception.

It was very important to Meghan and Kyle to stay true to their style when planning their wedding. The couple wanted to keep the day romantic, intimate and most importantly personal. During their ceremony, Meghan and Kyle locked their hand written vows in a box during the unity portion of the service. Not only did the locking of the vows symbolize their devotion to each other, but it also replicated the events of their engagement. In order to achieve the personal aesthetic in the reception space, the couple created baby photo table numbers, skeleton key escort cards, and donation favors. Not to mention, their Florist/Event Stylist surprised the couple with many Parisian themed decor pieces that truly took Meghan and Kyle’s breath away.

The fifteen months of planning each detail did not go unnoticed by any of the guests. Everyone was so incredible joyous in the celebration that not a single person sat during the reception. The dance floor was constantly packed to the point that the DJ had to request that guests please be seated to eat their meals! College friends reenacted choreography from their school musical “Footloose”. Uncles waved their napkins above their heads while dancing their own jig. Grandparents took part in doing the Polka and a brother of the Bride put Taylor Swift to shame in his rendition of “Shake it Off”. Meghan and Kyle’s wedding was truly an event no one wanted to see end. The couple is looking forward to planning an anniversary party in the future, just to relive every moment of their special day!

Meghan felt absolutely glamorous in her Allure Couture gown. Her earrings were an incredible find at T.J.Maxx. Her shoes by Caparros were the perfect height for dancing the night away. The lace that wrapped the bottom of Meghan’s bouquet was from her Mother’s wedding gown. Kyle was dressed in a custom three-piece suit from Indochino and his Etsy custom made cufflinks had a map of Paris on the face. The couple purposely designed Kyle’s suit to be a slightly darker grey than the groomsmen, to make his suit a bit more special. It was important to the couple that their wedding party be dressed in affordable and practical attire. Their ensembles were not only picked out for the wedding but for potential use to be worn again with out looking too bridal. The women were dressed in black cocktail dresses from White House Black Market. Their earrings were from Kate Spade and bangle bracelet from Papyrus. The groomsmen suits were from Charles Tyrwhitt and their ties and suspenders were from The Tie Bar.

Intimate Destination Wedding in Paris

We’ve seen our fair share of weddings set in the City of Lights, but this destination affair photographed by Clary Pfeiffer is going down as my absolute favorite. A mix of old world romance and modern luxury, it’s a day you’d probably never guess was primarily planned by the couple and their vendors via email – with a little help from Google translator along the way! Get your swoon on in the gallery right here.

From The Bride… If one were to ask about the idea of a destination wedding in Paris – elopement or intimate wedding – my advice would be: DO IT! It was the best decision that I could have made. The beautiful, old world architecture was perfect for wedding photographs, the most Michelin star chefs per square capita in the world was perfect for a gourmet wedding meal, and the romance of the city makes Paris a wedding destination second to none. In addition to these reasons, we originally chose Paris as a honeymoon destination because my groom is in the food and beverage industry, and we planned to indulge in the finest culinary creations in the world. In researching Paris as a wedding destination, I thought: How daring, romantic, luxurious, and unforgettable!

Three things to note about Paris…(1) There are strict residency and legal requirements to get married in Paris, but nothing is stopping you from getting married in the U.S. beforehand and having a symbolic ceremony with a celebrant in Paris; (2) Many vendors and venues are closed for part of July and the entire month of August; (3) Google translate via email will become your best friend as many vendors prefer to communicate in French. The good news – you could plan your own wedding in Paris mainly via email as I did with patience and persistence.

In 1826, Chapelle Expiatoire was constructed in memory of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. The old world architectural features, acoustics, natural lighting, and circular structure are perfect for an intimate ceremony. Violinist Rodolfo Benitez played some of our favorite classical music to include Ludovico Einaudi.

We could not marry in Paris without obtaining wedding photographs in front of Lady Eiffel and Pont des Arts. Clary Pfeiffer, our wedding photographer, was amazing about placement and poses, incredibly professional and hardworking, and fun to be around. I was drawn to Clary Pfeiffer’s photography because she captures romantic photographs using soft light at flattering angles. The Eiffel Tower, riddled with tourists, added to the character of the photographs. We followed tradition at Pont des Arts, and enclosed a heart-shaped locket with our names and the wedding date on a chain link of the bridge, and made a wish upon the skeleton key as it was launched in to the Seine.

During our photography session, we sent our guests on a tour of Paris in a luxury vehicle with an English-speaking tour guide and champagne. The tour included all of the major sights in Paris.

The Four Seasons Paris George V offered us the most comprehensive and attractive wedding package of all luxury hotels in Paris. I have never experienced luxury, first class service, exquisite French design, and mind-blowing cuisine as during my entire wedding experience at the Four Seasons Paris. The reception took place in Salon Anglais modeled after the library at Versailles. Jeff Leatham created an amazing floral design. Our decadent wedding meal was the best I have ever had to include foie gras, sea bass, filet mignon, and chocolate mousse cheesecake. Violinist Rodolfo Benitez provided amazing music from Bob Marley to Lauryn Hill.

Posh Grey + Gold Provencal Wedding Inspiration

There’s no question that a Provencal landscape in and of itself is brimming with natural beauty. But when you layer on a charming wedding design, like this one from La Fabrique à Rêves, it’s completely elevated. Brimming with undeniably pretty florals from L’Art Qui Pousse, a gorgeous couple and a Claire Pettibone to boot, Greg Finck‘s captures have us all enchanted. Flip through every one right here.

From La Fabrique à RêvesFrom the height of a rocky spur overlooking the scrublands and vineyards of the Luberon, the citadel and chateau of Ménerbes keep watch over their treasure. Celebrated as one of the most beautiful villages of the Luberon, it has stone ramparts, frontons marked with dates and vaulted cellars that you enter like Ali Baba caves… The little paved streets lead the way to the rich historic heritage of the town, taking you to the doors of old residences and the 17th century bell tower rising over the square. This genuine place full of character has triumphantly stood the test of time and preserved the authentic Provencal spirit. It was an evidence for us to choose Ménerbes as home for our workshop.

Between Gordes and Ménerbes, there is an elegant 18th century residence: a typical country farm restored with respect for the pure tradition of the Provencal “mas”. Nestling among 23 hectares of vines, La Bastide de Marie shines out with a splendour rooted in authenticity. A driveway bordered by cyprus trees, century-old olive trees and enchantingly scented lavender bushes leads up to the house. Naturally we chose La Bastide de Marie and its emblematic surroundings as muse for our styled shoot.

Given the natural elegance and History of the venue, we were able to create a chic and refined wedding atmosphere with a touch of vintage. We mixed up natural colors with a variation of grey’s, and white’s while adding up a touch of gold.

With the participation of the extraordinary florist designer l’Art Qui Pousse, and two incredible models, Maïlys wearing the Florentine gown from Claire Pettibone and Jeoffrey wearing a blue / grey tuxedo created for the occasion by Faubourg Saint Sulpice, we were able to reach our full potential.

Besides, we added up a bit of temperament to the shoot with Google de l’orée des bois d’Astros, a gorgeous Great Dane. Finally we settled our dinner table on a large paved stone terrace overlooking the vineyard. Very special thanks and acknowledgment go to Gabriel Menassier from mg-image for his incredible video, and to Greg Finck Photography for his remarkable talent capturing moments.

French Riviera Wedding at Chateau Diter

I’ve been lost in these gorgeous image from Brosnan Photographic longer than should admit this morning.  I mean, does it get any better than a wedding in the French Riviera at a chateau like Chateau Diter? It’s like a fairytale. And with Lavender And Rose at the design helm, it certainly played out like one. See the entire day here.

From Brosnan Photographic Vicky and Adam chose the French Riviera to host their wedding. Chateau Diter in Grasse has an incredible landscape. The newly renovated French chateau has an Italian flair and is set among the rolling hilly Provence landscape. Vicky, Adam, and their guests enjoyed stunning scenery while sipping on bubbly and watching the sun set during the open air dinner under the stars.

With every moment happening on site, Vicky and Adam created a relaxing day and their ceremony in the gazebo overlooking the french hills was utterly breathtaking. Apart from Vicky’s sweet custom made dress, the talented ladies at Lavender & Rose Weddings created and coordinated all the beauty.

Vintage Inspired South of France Dream Wedding

As a self-professed Francophile, I’ll be the first to admit that this sun-drenched South of France fête totally made my heart skip more than a beat or two. From the hand painted watercolor and calligraphy on the invitations from Signora e Mare, to the final departure of the Bride and Groom in their amazing getaway car, Lavender & Rose pulled out all the stops. Get lost in the entire dreamy gallery from Xavier Navarro here!

From the beautiful Bride… François and I met at a (now closed) bar in Paris called Footsie. We had no friends in common; it was totally random. My girlfriend and I were planning to go to a bar down the street, but said “Hey there are some cuties in this one, let’s check it out…” François is from Paris and I was in Chantilly (a small town outside of Paris) for an internship at the time. It was December 2008.

We had a long (almost 3 year) engagement, and thus plenty of time to ponder all sorts of destination weddings. Maybe too much time for second guessing and Pinteresting… It came down to France or New Orleans, which is our favorite American city. I had contacted venues, photographers, etc in New Orleans when my mom asked me what I “REALLY, REALLY” wanted to do. Getting married in France just seemed like such a fairytale. I wasn’t sure we could pull it off… and I wasn’t sure anyone would come! But with the help of our great wedding planner, Kerry Bracken of Lavender and Rose, and all our great vendors, we did. We didn’t have any particular reason for choosing Grasse except that we found a venue we liked and we knew we were fairly likely to have good weather in late June in that part of the country. We also considered Bordeaux, as François’ mother is from there (and we are winos), but for the weather and proximity to Nice’s airport, we chose the Cote d’Azur.

I had a bachelorette night the Wednesday before the wedding. When else am I going to have a chance to go out with girlfriends in Cannes?! Friday night before the wedding we had a “Soirée Blanche” cocktail/ welcome party. Everyone wore white, we had copious amounts of rosé, oysters and beautiful food at a beachfront restaurant in Juan-les-Pins. It could not have been more perfect. The weather, the sunset, seeing our families meet for the first time, the jazzy voice of Lizzy Parks…I couldn’t believe just how fabulous it was!! It was great for the French and American guests to meet, laugh, and break the ice before the wedding day.

Saturday morning we took it easy with massages by the pool. My bridesmaids came over around lunchtime. We hung out, had champagne, lounged and just got ready slowly. The wedding was supposed to start at 6:30, but the vintage pink Cadillac I was arriving in broke down. It was hilarious and I’m so glad our fabulous photographer, Xavier Navaro, was riding along with my mother and I, so he was able to capture our emotions and laughter as we watched the locals try to get the car running. The timing worked out perfectly. The ceremony began right at 7pm and the church bells starting chiming as I walked in the church with my dad. Perfect! (I should mention that our gorgeous, simple, rustic church was built in the 12th century. I was adamant about being married in a church–and we were thrilled to find one that would perform a Protestant, multilingual, modern wedding ceremony.)

François and I put a lot of thought into our ceremony. While we didn’t write our own vows, we did say our vows in each other’s language– I said mine in French and he in English. We had meaningful readings done in both languages by friends and family, and chose songs from the Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Procol Harum and James Brown. Additionally, we had all of our groomsmen and bridesmaids sign our marriage certificate, which was a special moment. Our priest, Peter Madan, is British and perfectly bilingual, and made all our guests feel welcome by alternating between French and English.

A few more details that stand out would be that we had our guests greet each other with “bisous” and hugs–it made the atmosphere very warm. We also had flowers placed in the seats where François’ parents would have been seated (they are both deceased). And my bridesmaids were stunning. Each one had a unique look with different dress styles, fabrics and colors and each bouquet was especially made to complement each dress. I LOVED how it turned out. We kept the decor in the church simple and understated. Lots of white pillar and votive candles, along with huge urns full of olive branches.

Although we didn’t get married in New Orleans, we did incorporate my favorite NOLA tradition, the second line. Upon leaving the church, guests were given hankies to wave in the air as we marched behind a fabulous New Orleans-style jazz band to “When the Saints Go Marching In.” I doubt the town of Valbonne had seen such a sight…

Our reception started with a cocktail hour around the pool at Bastide de Valbonne. Guests enjoyed more spirited jazz music, French 75s, and passed appetizers. There was a beret wearing caricature artist making the rounds and a pétanque court for our more “sporty” guests.

We had a seated dinner, which also served as the time for toasts. The French give the BEST speeches at weddings–I am always impressed at the thought that is put into preparing and delivering very sentimental speeches. Our tables were named after the places we grew up and then places we have lived and traveled over the years. I couldn’t get over the tablescapes created by Wayne Riley, our florist. He totally “got” our vision and we were stunned at how beautiful the tables were–gray candles, lavender, bright peonies, wild arrangements and single buds in small vases. Our menus and table names were hand done by Katie Hyatt of Signor e Mare. She is a gem of a calligrapher, and also created our custom wedding invitation suite and crest.

After dinner we cut our macaron tower, and it was time for dancing. Our first dance was to “Beast of Burden.” Not traditional, but I am obsessed with Mick Jagger and we love the song. Sappy isn’t for us, and this worked. We went for a DJ because we wanted a dance party with no breaks and only our favorite tunes. For added lubrication, we had an absinthe bar, which was a big hit. Much to François’ chagrin, I also had jager bombs reminiscent of my college days. The party went until 4 or 5 in the morning, and true to form, we were the last ones on the dance floor.

Sunday we had a very casual farewell brunch in the afternoon. A great bluegrass band played and guests dined on delicious burgers from a local food truck, Camion de Sophie. We had Bloody Mary’s and margaritas (my mom’s favorite) and enjoyed recounting the previous night’s antics.

Our family friend and well-known Birmingham artist Bob Moody created a custom watercolor painting of the church where we got married. I had the idea to use it as an envelope liner, giving guests a preview for how the wedding would look and feel. It was just gorgeous and now the original painting hangs in our bedroom.

I loved the idea of having a custom crest and Signora e Mare created one for us to use on all of our paper products. It incorporated a frog (for the Frenchie), an elephant for me (the Alabama fan), lavender (for the wedding location), and cotton (for the South). I picked out vintage postage stamps to represent the France/US relationship/alliance. There were stamps with Grace Kelly, Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson, Ernest Hemingway, Nina Simone and Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. Also, each invite was in English, but included a vellum overlay of the invite in French. I wanted every aspect of the wedding to be a “mélange” of French and American culture. At times I felt I was getting way too into the weeds on these details, but I’m glad I did.

Americans, and especially Southerners, want to make sure wedding guests feel special, welcomed, and taken care of throughout the weekend. We put together welcome bags for our guests that included a bottle of rosé, local olive tapenade and crackers, water bottles, a burlap bag with our crest monogrammed, a custom map of the wedding weekend events, a very detailed welcome note from our wedding planner with all logistics, recommendations, etc and a hand written note from me. We also included a unique vintage postcard from the Cote d’Azur in each bag and asked guests to write their wedding advice/wishes on it and leave it at the reception. I happened to find the postcards at a junk/antiques store in Birmingham. I bought every postcard from the South of France from about 1910-1930. We plan to make these postcards into a guest book of sorts…

The inspiration for the absinthe bar came from the fact that François and I drank absinthe together the night we met…and we continue to toast the anniversary of our meeting with absinthe :) We wanted to recognize our family members who are no longer with us and include them in our wedding. I had my grandfather’s wedding band tied onto my bouquet with a handkerchief that belonged to my brother-in-law’s grandmother, who was a kind of mentor to me. Our wedding programs included a favorite love poem of my grandmother, who loved poetry.

Intimate Wedding Inspiration in the South of France

Every so often I come across a bit of inspiration that really, truly speaks to me. Where every detail makes me want to create something beautiful myself, and I leave the post feeling full. Today, Clayton Austin is delivering exactly that. Intimate yet elegant in the stunning South of France, I honestly couldn’t love this gallery more if I tried.

From Clayton AustinThe South of France is an absolutely gorgeous and Hameau Des Baux located in Provence is a stunning backdrop for any wedding. With same sex weddings on the rise being legal in 36 states and the Supreme Court set to make a historic ruling this summer I wanted to create an inspiration board for two brides looking to seal their love with rich romantic colors and a classic, timeless feel. Rag ‘n Bone provided the most amazing pants suit reminiscent of a classic tuxedo for one bride while the second bride wore an elegant Maggie Sottero gown. With accents of black taper candles and a bouquet of roses and red berries it was my goal to create a simple yet elegant feel to inspire any couple!

From La Fabrique à RêvesThe talented Raphael from L’Artisan Photographe contacted us in September as was completely amazed by an olive grove full of perennial trees he had discovered. All inspired by the beauty of this outdoors, the quintessence of Provence, we designed something and decided to create a styled shoot.

The Sarah Seven gown gracefully provided by Olympe, was the perfect mix of elegance and romance. Blandine Fabre did her magic with the makeup which matched the amazing hairstyle by Carole from Les Mariés du Salon. Virginie Sellem – L’Art qui Pousse – took our breath away with the most amazing floral design. She used old roses, astilbe, dahlias, hydrangeas, grapes and figs. Phôs company who’s got a great variety of chandeliers and lanterns gave us the beautiful silver candlesticks that we used on the tables and some beautiful crystal balls hanging in the trees. For the art de la table provided by Côté Bastide in Aix-en-Provence, we chose a simple provencal style, chic and authentic for our long banquet table. DV Traiteur created several dishes, and we were blown away by the beauty and deliciousness of his creations.

We’ve had a great time planning everything and making this happen, not to mention the amazing vendors working with us, thinking of Toxan with his groom suit and our beautiful couple Alexandra & Arnaud. Very special thanks and acknowledgment go to L’Artisan Photographe for his remarkable talent capturing moments and to Gabriel Menassier from mg-image for his incredible video.

Elegant Wedding in France at Chateau La Durantie

This wedding is a dream. Honestly, every image Peaches & Mint sent over is so beautiful I could get lost in this gallery for days. And I might do just that. Because, in my opinion, it doesn’t get prettier than a classic yet chic French countryside affair in a picture perfect chateau, and I’ll think you’ll agree when you join me in gushing over all the pretty here.

Anna, who’s Russian & Vladan, who is Serbian individually moved to Vienna as children, coincidentally both at the age of seven. Although they had similar circles of friends and for a while even went to school in the same street, life had some time on the road for them planned, before they should finally meet. So Anna went to work in New York after finishing her studies and Vladan was living in London when they both came home to Vienna for a visit to see family & friends. They met aged 24 at a cocktail party of a mutual friend (who later of course became one of her stunning bridesmaids) and made the long distance work until they decided to move back to Vienna and tie the knot. For their weekend long wedding celebration they invited friends and family to join them at La Durantie, a magical french chateau that has been refurbished and maintained with a tremendous love for details. Original pieces & varying decor in every room, it allowed the couple & their guests to be taken in by the French atmosphere & scenery at once! Details: The Location: Chateau La Durantie is a true gem, since it has been refurbished and maintained with such care. It is a dream come true wedding location a few hours away from Paris and sold out years ahead. Vodka & Rakia on the tables: With Anna being from Moskow and Vladan from Belgrad they thought it was a nice idea to put both national drinks on the table for shots. The Flower girls & boys: Are all nieces and nephews of Anna, who came all the way from Russia. Flower girls head wreaths: Stunning head wreaths for all the girls, made such a nice pop of color! Flowers: Florals were done by Lisa Gatenby (French Flower Style), originally from England but moved to France and works her magic with flowers there now The Family Picture: Anna & Vladan planned time during their day to do family formals in the location. Anna changed her dress for this occasion, so the family pictures wouldn’t just reflect their wedding as an event, but their families uniting. The Stationery from Herz & Co (www.herzundco.com): Stunning and bespoke designed letterpress stationery, with printed fans, coasters (for wine bottle giveaways) and invitations with a bespoke design for their french wedding affair. (It’s a bit my weak spot, but I could photograph them again by end of next week and style it nicer – unfortunately there was no stylist at the wedding and I just lacked the time.. But the letterpress company is here in Vienna and I know they would happily give me the pieces again to shoot them!) Giveaways for bridesmaids: Tiffany bracelets Her Headpiece: “Something borrowed” from one of the bridesmaids. Originally purchased at a small accessory store in Vienna. Dower: He got a Montblanc pen and she got a ring from Cartier The groom: Wore an antique Patek Philipp watch, which was a gift from Anna’s father, cufflinks from Lanvin and a suit from Dolce&Gabanna. His bow tie was from Brioni. Rehearsal Dinner: Beautifully set in front of the castle, with Catering by La Durantie. (Sending you another link for that & a few more pictures you might find useful: Wedding Music: An accordonist & an acoustic band took care of french atmosphere!

Lush, Organic Destination Wedding in Provence

Greg Finck wedding never disappoints, but when you add the floral talents of Laetitia C. to the equation? You, my dear, have got Provence nuptial perfection right at your fingertips. Designed with a natural, beautifully organic aesthetic, it’s a day that plays off its South of France setting and the results are a destination wedding done so, so right.

From Greg Finck PhotographyLe Mas de la Rose is a hidden gem in the heart of Provence, surrounded by olive groves and lavender fields. That is in that elegant though intimate typical Provence venue that Fabienne and Carlo had decided to tie the knot. Fabienne is from Switzerland and Carlo from the US, but they had decided to organize a destination wedding by themselves in the South of France. To delight their guests and enjoy the Provence easy lifestyle.

Stationery had been designed by the groom’s brother, and were in a variation of green and grey, which has been the color palette during the whole day. Laetitia C., who is now a friend, has once more done her magic on floral design. Fantastic flowers arrangements were everywhere, from the ceremony to the reception, and were all beautifully designed in a soft green color palette. The bouquets were elegant but not too strict, to reflect the organic and natural side of the region.

The ceremony has probably been one of the most emotional I’ve had the occasion to live this year. The officiant was one of the groom’s best friend and it was difficult not to drop a tear when Fabienne and Carlo exchanged their vows, in the presence of Max, Carlo’s son.

The cocktail was yummy with typical Provence food, including ‘tapenade’ (black olive paste) and regional vegetables, as Le Mas de la Rose grows its own vegetables in the garden. Dinner was similar with amazing organic Provence food and fine wine. The party last until the end of the night, when the bride and groom surprised their guests with an ice cream cart.
