Winter Wedding Shoot Inspired by the Mountains

I might be in the minority, but I am such a fan of the winter months. And winter in the mountains? Well, that’s my dream. So I love seeing talented folks like Live View Studios and Michelle Wright Events embrace the beauty of the season in a way that reminds me once again why I love this season. Oh, and the florals from Amy Lynne Originals? Don’t even get me started. Too good. See more winter pretty in the VAULT.

From Live View StudiosThe barren, neutral backdrop of winter in the mountains was the canvas for this warm and vibrant wedding inspiration. Drawing from the natural terrain and simple living in the mountains, a wood table and mismatched chairs were set for dining with a dusty blue silk runner spilling over from the tabletop, mimicking cascading waterfalls and rushing mountain streams. Fire, in the form of candlelight, brings romance and also inspires the bold color palette. Touches of gold, from the candlesticks to the gold goblets at each place setting, invoke elegance and tie in with the natural tones from the hops used in the floral centerpieces and bouquet. Velvet and silk ribbons fall gracefully from the bride’s lush bouquet. The cake with it’s delicately torn edging pairs perfectly with the handmade paper from the invitation suite, and is embellished with fresh blooms and fruit. Our bride is gorgeous in a lace and chiffon Sarah Seven dress adorned with a gold and silk belt and dripping crystal and gold earrings designed by Lindsay Marie. Her beautifully braided hair is accentuated with a gold and crystal headpiece, and like the fog that rises and shrouds the mountains, her stunning veil wraps and pools around her and her lover as they embrace.

Classic Cape Cod Wedding

Classic meets nautical is one of our favorite ways to say “I do” – and this elegant estate affair is most definitely topping our list of all-time faves.  From the carefully crafted stylings of Always Yours Events to the beautiful navy, coral and blush color palette to the breathtaking images captured by AE Stelzer Photography.  Head to THE VAULT for even more, then press play on the film from Stop Go Love below.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/144805606 600 338]

From Always Yours Events… Caroline and Dave were married in the beautiful, quintessential seaside town of Falmouth on Cape Cod at Caroline’s grandparents’ private estate. This property was perfection and tucked away on a private lane, complete with a beautiful gray washed restored Cape barn and a view overlooking Siders Pond. It was sentimental to boot, as Caroline’s parents had been married at the same exact location forty years before.

When Caroline and Dave approached me to plan their wedding, they had one vision in mind: an ethereal, remarkable and truly merry celebration that guests would rave about long after the night was over. And they both desired a wedding that embodied the Cape Cod lifestyle. To do this, we selected an incredible wedding vendor team to create this gorgeous day, including Sperry Tents (Marion), Rentals Unlimited, Stop Go Love Videography and talented film photographer AE Stelzer to name a few. For entertainment Caroline and Dave selected the Sultans of Swing, who truly were the highlight of the evening! This seven piece band had everyone dancing from the moment they started playing — even the neighbors were hosting cocktail parties in their backyards to enjoy the entertainment!

The couple’s chosen color palette invoked a nautical feel, including shades of navy, coral, blush, white and gold. Navy and white striped linens, gold flatware and gold rimmed crystal, navy cocktail napkins with gold foil monograms, a floral arch draped with soft white chiffon tied back with coral and blush blooms, a rosé prosecco signature cocktail, wooden oars serving as a guest book, and customized wayfarers inscribed with Caroline and Dave’s motto “Better Together,” were just a few of the lovely curated details.

And of course the wedding would not have been complete without a few surprises such as a vintage Benz getaway car, a sparkler send off and parade that led to the after party, and surprise entrance from the Father of the Bride who rode his vintage motorcycle into the sailcloth tent and across the dance floor for his intro and toast to his daughter and new son-in-law. Caroline and Dave’s wedding was definitely one for the books, and it was an honor to be a part of it!

Day After Dolomite Mountain Newlywed Session

I started in on our Vault with these images from Thecablookfotolab and within seconds I was regretting that my new hubby and I hadn’t done a day after shoot after our nuptials last June. Still riding the romantic high from their wedding the day before, these two lovebirds just can’t take a bad picture – and Mother Nature’s beauty doesn’t hurt either. Fall in love with the whole scene right this way!

From Thecablookfotolab… One of the best things you can do is to stay with your friends and relatives on the wedding day and then to do the couple’s shoot in a wedding dress in some amazing location on the other part of the world the next day. Exactly like this couple did: after the wedding they came to Italy in order to do an unforgettable shoot in a breathtaking location: the crystal clear lake in the Dolomite Mountains.

I’m happy about the fact that more and more couples ask me to search for a beautiful location for them, they know that I’m addicted to beautiful places, and they drive with me then for 3-4 hours in order to get those beautiful pictures.

The sunset’s light, the love in their eyes, the beautiful gown, blue water of the lake, the mountains in the background, the natural and particular bouquet… Every single detail made this shoot unique. I love when the scenery is so beautiful that you don’t need to overload it with the details and everything is concentrated on the beauty of the image itself and on the feelings of the couple.

Get the Look: Charming Bathroom Makeover

Say hello to the sweetest little powder room you ever did see. But I suppose first, you should see the before. A thousand times lovelier right? With Julie Blanner at the makeover helm, we’re not surprised. And we love this darling space so much, we decided to scout some similars for you so you can get the look, too. Are you in need of a bathroom re-design?

From Julie BlannerIt’s a tiny bathroom, so maximizing space was important. The pedestal sink and tall narrow mirror give the room height and open up the space making it appear larger and brighter.

In a small bathroom, it’s all about the details. My favorites include: cedar plank walls give the room warmth and depth, wood light switch plates add detail but are understated, the traditional brass bridge style faucet elevates the space (yet is really affordable), a new toilet is inexpensive, but immediately makes a bathroom feel bright and fresh.

Small areas are a great place to do something fun and different. Our bathroom was the perfect place for the brick floors I had been dreaming about. They’re extremely low maintenance and disguise dirt. They add a lot of visual interest, so very little décor is needed.

Classic Palm Beach Wedding at The Breakers

Ballroom brides with an eye for luxe? This wedding is for you. Captured by miss Lauren Kinsey, it begins with a ceremony on the grand terrace featuring a major floral moment and ending with dancing under the ballroom’s twinkling chandeliers. It’s a celebration that makes you want to throw on your evening wear and sip something fancy, but for now let’s (virtually) clink our coffee mugs and head straight to the The Vault.

From Lauren KinseyThe Breakers has always held a special place in Lindsay’s heart, as this is the place she has been visiting with her family with for almost her whole life, so there was no question when it came to planning Lindsay & Matt’s wedding where it would take place. Lindsay and Matt married on the grand terrace with a formal reception in the ballroom, and no detail was overlooked. Lindsay’s & Matt’s families are some of the most gracious and kind people I have been fortunate to work with, and this black tie wedding was something truly spectacular.

Romantic Flaxton Gardens Hinterland Wedding

We’re currently experiencing bone-chilling temperatures in New York City (or at least it feels that way), but this next wedding is keeping me happy and warm.  Not only is it the wedding of the most beautiful Bride and Groom, but it’s also full of natural beauty, lots of love and gorgeous golden hour lighting captured perfectly by Matt Rowe Photography. Head to The Vault to see all the pretty!

From Matt Rowe PhotographyYou know when you get those couples who sparkle when they’re together? That sense of connection that ignites something-bigger – the intangible? Well here we have Courtney and Fred: lovers, friends and down-to-earth legends. Having met in a city far away, Fred moved metaphorical mountains to be with Courtney and they are begun to form a perfect life together here on Australia’s beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Their proposal story is evident of the consideration and sense of fun shared between these two. Fred created a bit of a memory odyssey before a romantic dinner. Various moment and memories were set up along the journey to the moment where ‘she said yes’…and perhaps from there the rest is history…or beginning…or just plain forever.

Walk with us as we remember a spectacular wedding day.

English Garden Style Wedding in California

Any man who proposes with a sweet little Frenchie is a total keeper. But more than that he’s the kind man you want to marry immediately. Coordinated by Sugar Rush Events and photographed by Michele Beckwith, this darling couple made it a priority to sprinkle in personal touches like incorporating the bride’s Greek heritage and emerald birthstone for an al fresco affair with a English garden vibe. Pretty sure your afternoon just got infinitely better.

From The Bride…Aaron and I met while living in San Francisco and after two years of dating, Aaron popped the question in the most special way a girl could ever imagine. Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with dogs, particularly with French bulldogs. We were headed to Aaron’s parents’ house a few hours away for a family barbecue to celebrate Aaron’s birthday which was the day before….or so I thought. Once we arrived, he took me to the backyard where he began his proposal. I wish I could remember everything he said but I blacked out! After he got down on one knee, he told me that that wasn’t all and turned me around to see the tiniest, cutest, most perfect little French bulldog puppy sitting behind me! Having no idea where he came from I just scooped him up immediately and could not stop crying (meanwhile, Aaron was still holding the ring)! At the same time, my entire family, his family, and our closest friends all came pouring out of the house. We enjoyed a sunny celebration by the pool with our family and friends and our new fur baby “Phoebo” (if you love the TV show “Friends” as much as I do, you will know his namesake). After such a perfect and intimate engagement, we could not wait to plan our wedding day!

We chose Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, California as our venue. It was only an hour from where I grew up and an hour from where we live in San Francisco, so it made planning a breeze. We were immediately drawn to the classic and elegant estate for it’s old world beauty and its lush grounds. It was important for both of us that our venue had natural beauty and landscaping, since we knew we did not want “flashy” decor but instead wanted something soft and classic that complimented our already-stunning surroundings. We wanted a wedding with timeless elegance so that we could go look back on our photos years from now and still feel like it could be yesterday. Not to mention the Villa reminded me of the wedding venue in one of my favorite movies, My Best Friend’s Wedding!

I would call our theme “english garden meets mediterranean” – a lot of classic neutrals with olive branch accents and subtle hints of emerald green. I am a May baby and I have always loved my emerald birthstone so I knew that I wanted to incorporate the color into our wedding somehow. I am also very classic and drawn to neutral color palates at the same time – so using both neutral and emerald was a little tricky at first, but I think we nailed it. We also decided to incorporate olive branches and leaves throughout the event to honor my Greek heritage and because they went so well with the stately columns and statues throughout the property. I could not get over how stunningly beautiful our flowers were and our florist, Amanda Terpstra completely outdid herself in executing my vision! Between the olive branch crowns for the bridesmaids, the garland in the ceremony, my breathtaking bouquet, the centerpieces – I could not get over how stunning it all was. Our ceremony was just perfect and felt so intimate, even though we had close to 250 guests. There were a lot of tears, laughter and very touching moments as our Pastor read personal letters we wrote to each other. Our guests were such troopers, because it was a very hot day and the ceremony was outside. Needless to say the program fans were a must!

Our cocktail hour was beautiful with champagne sequin tablecloths, simple votives, and one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding – a hand-painted bar sign with a custom portrait of our little Phoebo. Niki from Paper Tangent is so talented and created exactly what I had in mind. The portrait she painted was so spot on, it could’ve been mistaken for a photo of our little man!

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, my amazing mom and a group of her friends painstakingly cut and pre-tied all of the emerald velvet ribbons to be placed around our napkins with an olive leaf sprig, and made the rosemary olive oil favors for our guests. Bless their hearts – we could not have done it without them! For the olive oil table, I came up with a short story about the meaning behind the olive oil gift and had a calligrapher write it on hanging canvas so that our guests understood the special meaning behind the olive theme throughout the wedding.

Dinner was delicious, with a breathtaking view looking out over the sprawling lawn during sunset…it was so magical that a group of deer even graced us with their presence as we looked on from the veranda! And of course our photographer, Michele Beckwith, captured every single moment in a way that I didn’t know was possible. She is truly one of the most talented photographers and so much fun to have around. She has a way of making you feel so comfortable and at ease in front of the camera and captures the most special moments. She even managed to get our crazy little Phoebo to sit still and pose in his dapper little bow tie!

I had a very specific vision for our wedding and without the help of all of our vendors, family and friends, it would not have been possible. Our wedding coordinator nailed every tiny little detail and really brought my vision to life…she was a God-send! It truly was a spectacular and perfect day and we are so lucky to have each other and to have such wonderful family and friends. After dancing the night away, we would describe our big day as magical, classic, elegant, and so so so much fun!

Timeless Wedding in Estes Park, Colorado

Lisa O’Dwyer is a genius behind the lens. That’s a fact we’ve known for awhile now. And when she gets to shoot a couple as gorgeous as this one during their equally gorgeous wedding planned by Events 306, I start counting my lucky stars. Layer in the ridiculously stunning florals from A FLorae, and I’m pretty sure this is just as good as it gets. See even more in the VAULT.

From The Bride…Chris and Ashley met during their senior year of college at Denison University, and after moving around for a couple of years, the two settled in Fort Collins, Colorado when Chris was stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force base. Chris proposed soon thereafter while they were vacationing at Walt Disney World, surrounded by family.

Later, while visiting Rocky Mountain National Park in fall, the newly engaged couple fell in love with the cozy feel of the town. As an amateur horror-movie buff, Chris was enthralled with The Stanley Hotel (it is where Stephen King wrote The Shining), so the couple decided that the hotel’s historic elegance and haunted allure was the perfect venue at which to tie the knot.

Keeping in mind that the majority of their guests were flying in from across the country, Chris and Ashley wanted to create an intimate and inviting celebration, focusing on their guests. By adding family-style seating during dinner, custom-blended wine sent to their guests’ Stanley hotel rooms and a ring warming during the ceremony, they accomplished just that. With the expert eye of Brittany Pritchard of Events 306, the affair was one of graceful elegance and understated romance.

Oregon Wine Country Engagement

This e-sesh?  It’s awesome.  Think a stylist bride-to-be, her dapper mister and acres upon acres of gorgeous vineyard landscape and you are sooo on the right track.  From the beautiful scenery to the chic attire to the sweet flower crown of this bride’s dreams, we’re feeling all the feels in THE VAULT courtesy of Sweetlife Photography.  Join us there to meet your new virtual besties.

From the Bride… Grant and I met at a block party hours after I moved to Philadelphia. As a group of us talked and got to know each other, I mentioned my living situation. It was temporary at the time so I eagerly asked if anyone knew of any potential roommates or apartments. Grant, with a sly smile, quickly responded that he was looking for a roommate. I couldn’t quite tell if he was joking, or if he just put me in the “friend zone.” As he elaborated on the details of his studio apartment, I realized that he might be into me.

Well, fast forward a year and a half, and we became roommates after all.

During a vacation in the Willamette Valley, I quickly obliged when Grant suggested a pit stop at White Rose Estate for wine tasting. Since it was a Monday afternoon, we had the whole place to ourselves, and the owner offered to give us a tour of the grounds. When he left us alone in the wine cellar, my goal was to get an awesome selfie, but Grant had other plans. I was shocked when he fell to one knee!

Soon after, we decided we wanted to share this special place with all our friends and family and started planning our destination wedding in the Willamette Valley.

Engagement pictures were really important to me. So important that we booked Sweetlife Photography before our venue! For the shoot, we returned to White Rose Estate.

As a wardrobe stylist for wedding events, I was beyond excited to style our shoot! I’m a little bit of a flower child, while Grant has an All-American look. A crisp white and washed blue color palette balanced our looks. Grant stayed true to his classic style with a white seersucker shirt, linen shorts, a woven belt and Sperrys. I love a little white dress, and found this effortlessly chic frock from Show Me Your Mumu. I wore gold gladiator sandals and simple gold jewelry, including gold bracelets handed down from my mom’s mom and my dad’s mom. In Philadelphia, I don’t get many opportunities to wear flowers in my hair, so a flower crown was at the top of my list. Our florist made the most beautiful flower crown with white roses to tie it all together.

Classic Kilshane House Destination Wedding in Ireland

Give me a sweet love story, a fabulous destination wedding in Ireland and a gorgeous Bride and Groom, and I’m a happy girl. Add to that killer fashion (that Theia gown and those fuchsia Manolo Blahnik peep-toes!), precious little members of the bridal party and love that radiates off the screen, and you’ve got a very beautiful day. See it all from Poppies & Me in The Vault.

From The Bride…Our love story begins on the evening of September 14th, 2012, the day when a Kilkenny Cat and a New Yorker by way of Texas met at St. Dymphna’s Bar in New York City, introduced by a mutual friend. The 3,147 miles between Ireland and New York couldn’t keep us apart.

Less than a week later, the stars aligned and a chance meeting at Roberta’s in Bushwick brought us together again. To set the scene: our eyes met across the crowded dining room. Aidan was with his friend Jamie, his eldest brother Mike and sister in-law Shirley. I was with my dad and my friend Shari.  A true gentleman, Aidan came over to our table, introduced himself and invited us for drinks. We spent the evening chatting, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Aidan made sure my dad’s pint of Newcastle Brown Ale never went dry.

I knew he was the one, when at an art opening for my friend, he said the words I’ve been waiting to hear my whole life. “Will you…go to the Morrissey concert with me?”

As the months went on, we traveled the globe and our relationship blossomed. Fast forward to the evening of December 19th, 2014. We arranged to meet at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. After a long week in the office and preparing for a Christmas trip to Ireland, energy levels were low, however Aidan encouraged me to take a stroll around the museum, carrying my bags and helping relieve the stress of a long work-week.  We wandered around enjoying the art…little did I know of Aidan’s grand plan. We arrived at Monet’s Water Lilies, Aidan’s favorite painting, where a little over two years before we had one of our first dates. The room was crowded, however, by divine intervention a space appeared on a bench and we sat down. Aidan popped the question and through tears of happiness I said yes.

September 25th, 2015, at Kilshane House in Tipperary Ireland we celebrated with 170 of our nearest and dearest friends and family. We are so fortunate that over 110 traveled to Ireland for the big day from all corners of the globe with Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Australia all represented.

Kilshane House was the setting for the big day: Accommodations, Ceremony and Reception. The ceremony was held in their glass conservatory, a beautiful and ideal spot for brides worried about the chance of rain on their big day.

Kilshane House is an elegant and spacious Regency house built in 1822 at the end of a half-mile long driveway. It is the centrepiece of 320 acres of private parkland which includes a trout river, a remarkable Victorian landscape garden with a man-made lake, huge noble trees, grassy expanses and the unique Tipperary sky. A large and handsome conservatory circa 1860 is ideal for a glass or two of champagne or a champagne reception for 200 under glass. Enjoy an intimate dinner in a private room off the Conservatory…or an elegant dinner in the formal dining room…or fine dining on a grand scale in the Orangerie.

The day was filled with beautiful people and special touches that reflect us as a couple, “The A-Team” and a very dear loved one, my father Arthur, who eternally shines brightly upon us from heaven.

The night before Aidan buried a Child of Prague figurine, an Irish tradition that ensures blue skies and no rain the day of your wedding. It worked!! Blue skies and sun for all of the proceedings, a rarity in Ireland!! Magic can happen!

Aidan and his best man, his brother Shane, started the day in the game room of Kilshane House with a spirited game of Risk (a Lanigan tradition) with his brothers and nephews followed by a few pints of Guinness. The lads (including the youngest page boy Hugh (1 year old) – Shane’s son / Aidan’s Godson) helped the groom complete his wedding look with finishing touches that included a Tiffany’s tie bar (gifted from his soon to be bride), monogramed with our wedding date.

Breakfast was delivered to the bridal suite at 8am sharp and the best day of our lives began. Shortly after, my dear friend and hairstylist arrived to set my hair and the rest was a whirlwind. Downstairs, my sister Dawn, who served as Maid of Honor, and future sisters-in-law, were buzzing about ensuring that the nine months of planning from across the pond was in full effect. All I had to do was sit back, be pampered and know the people I entrusted would carry out my wedding dreams. And they did!!

Something old: My favorite Chanel fragrance gifted by Aidan’s mother

Something new: My Theia dress designed by Irish designer Don O’Neill and sexy fuchsia Manolo Blahniks

Something borrowed: Cartier diamond bracelets on loan from my hairstylist and friend Brent Lawler

Something blue: A piece of my FAVORITE singer Morrissey’s shirt, fearlessly acquired by my sister, Dawn, and friend, Danette, at his concert at Madison Square Garden during my bachelorette party, was attached to my bouquet.

Our ceremony started at 3pm and the bridal procession was led by our magnificent Godchildren and I was given away by my mother and sister. The ceremony was officiated by Aidan’s eldest brother Mike, which completed the full circle as he was the first of Aidan’s family I met three years prior in Brooklyn. We choose a Humanist service, which incorporated both traditional aspects, interwoven with special touches, including poetry readings from close friends, a traditional Irish ring warming and music performed throughout by Zoe Conway and John McIntyre (award winning Irish musicians) closing with a rendition of The Smiths song “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” And yes we did!!

Zoe and John continued to entertain our guests for the cocktail reception held in the main house and front lawn of Kilshane, while the guests enjoyed sparkling wine, hors d’oeuvres, a candy bar (with love themed treats) and a selfie station.

The seated dinner and lively party that followed were held in the Orangerie. The new Mr. and Mrs. made their grand entrance to the theme of the A-Team TV show while making the rounds greeting guests. Traditional speeches were given by the father of the groom, mother of the bride, best man, maid of honor and the couple, ending with a New Castle Brown Ale toast to the father of the bride. Dinner was a culinary treat of local fare, most of the produce grown in the gardens of Kilshane.

Afterwards the party went on to “literally” the break of dawn, starting with music from the Bentley Boys Band and closing with Soul, New Wave and Ska tunes spun by DJ Geraldine Fahey. Fun times had by all!

Classic Appleford Estate Wedding

You know what’s absolutely perfect?  This wedding.  This classic meets elegant Appleford Estate affair brimming with some of the prettiest details you have ever seen.  Think lush, romantic florals from Wild Stems, a luxe burgundy and gold color palette and a seriously fun reception that is basically everything. See it all captured beautifully by Asya Photography in THE VAULT right this way.

From The Bride… My husband and I live in California, but his family is from Pennsylvania, so we wanted to have our wedding there. The ceremony took place in the chapel at Malvern Prep, where he went to school. The priest knew him very well, so the ceremony was very personal to us. We wanted our wedding to feel very classic and elegant.

We chose Appleford, because of the intimate setting and we liked the idea that our wedding could be at a family member’s estate! The guests were free to wander around the beautiful manicured grounds. I brought personal items for the reception, old family photos and things, and for us to wear. I sewed a patch with my late father’s initials into my dress to remember him and share the day with him.

Our bridal party was a mix of old and new friends and we were a rowdy bunch. My bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses, I thought the color would look amazing against the greenery at Appleford. The groomsmen wore classic tuxedos. Our flowers were by Leaves of Grass, and she was AMAZING. She really listened to me and I think the decor for the reception was just stunning. She’s a true artist and works so hard on the day of to make the most beautiful floral designs.

From Rebecca Yale Photography… Jackie and Derek were married in an intimate ceremony with 100 of their closest friends and family in late March just blocks from their home in Long Island City. The bride got ready in their apartment right on the water at Gantry State Park with her bridesmaids and recently adopted Cockapoo puppy. The bride and groom decided on a first look on the water at Gantry, a favorite spot of theirs with the beautiful skyline of midtown Manhattan behind them. They were married by a friend of the couple under the warm glow of crisscrossing strung lights at The Foundry surrounded by Cherry Blossoms to celebrate spring. Guests enjoyed the groom’s favorite cocktail, an Old Fashioned and hors d’ouerves including mini grilled cheeses and dumplings while the sunset during cocktail hour followed by dinner and dancing.
