A Mykonos Wedding That’ll Kick Your Wanderlust Into Overdrive

Pack your bags pretties because we’re headed across the world to a little place called Mykonos. It’s the Greek island that brings all your Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants travel dreams to life plus backdrop to this INSANELY dreamy wedding day. MykonosWedding by Aikaterini planned, Anna Roussos photographed, and you might never convince me to leave all that’s waiting in The Vault.

From Mykonos WeddingTom & Kylene chose Mykonos as the island that suits them both best for their happy and original spirit. They flew their friends and family from the US and from Athens, Greece, to make this dream come true.

It was a warm day and for a May wedding it couldn’t have been a better weather situation. Kylene and her bridesmaids were prepared in the private villa where the couple was staying during all their stay on Mykonos island. Tom and his groomsmen were prepared in a luxury suites hotel near by. A small chapel with magnificent views to the sea, provided the perfect scene for their Christian Orthodox ceremony.

All guests upon arrival found their seats on the outdoor space of the chapel, around the orthodox ceremony table waiting for the couple to make their entrance. Traditional musicians lead the way for the arrival of the groom first and later of the bride. All Greek Christian Orthodox ceremony customs took place. The two large beautifully decorated candles symbolizing the light preceding each one of the couple for all their life together. The ‘koufeta’, the sugar covered almonds, that symbolize the joys and sorrows of marriage as well as fertility. The rice and the rose petals that were thrown to the couple during the ceremony which symbolize abundance and a life strewn with rose petals and the single glass filled with red wine that sealed their love and union. ‘The two that became one for the rest of their lives’.

Kylene’s parents and sisters, were beaming watching her marry the love of her life, and wishing them well. The bride’s so cute little dog pet starred during her entrance and ceremony, wearing bows that matched the whole wedding concept.

Following the ceremony, guests arrived to Nammos Beach Restaurant for the reception and were invited to enjoy a cocktail on the beach lounge especially prepared, with carpets covering the sand, making it a convenient floor to the ladies with high heels. Signature cocktails and drinks were served and while guests where relaxing after the overwhelming ceremony, another overwhelming event was about to happen. The couple arrived by sea, standing on the bow of a stylish polished motorboat, decorated with flowers. None of the guests was expecting anything like this, everyone stood amazed watching the couple as the boat was approaching.

The dinner was delicious as expected, followed by speeches from the family and guests and a few hours of energetic music and dancing. Food, music, champagne, and exquisite sweet surprises to keep the guests entertained through out. The bride, wore a lovely open back dress, embellished with shining elements, custom made by a friend. The groom wore a Hugo Boss tux as well as his groomsmen, showcasing the groom’s style and personality. The flowers chosen to match the classic style, were white and pink roses with olive leaves that made a lovely statement in the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets and in the table centerpieces.

From The Bride…A few months into dating, my Greek-American boyfriend and I went on our first trip together to Greece. It was during that trip that we said our first ‘I love you’s’, wrote our names in the white volcanic rock in Santorini, and he brought me to see the church where he said he someday would like to get married.

It was a magical trip trip where I fell in love with not only my future husband, but Greece itself. Fast-forward three years and I was back in Mykonos, Greece with all of our close friends and family walking up to that same church to meet my awaiting fiance.

Planning our wedding, however, was not quite as magical as that first trip to Greece. Of course I had my Pinterest boards full of inspiration, bookmarked wedding blogs, and dogeared magazine pages, but I quickly learned that planning a wedding in Greece would not be as easy as I had imagined. Coming from the US, I was not accustomed to the slower pace of life that Greece operates under,as well as different legal requirements for the ceremony and lack of resources on the island.

I was lucky enough to schedule my dream photographer from Greece, Anna Roussos, found a fantastic florist (Studio 7) who was just opening a shop on Mykonos, and hired an excellent wedding planner (MykonosWedding by Aikaterini) to help with all the details, who knew everyone involved and coordinated everything in such a way I never had to worry about anything.

In the end, we had the most beautiful Greek Island wedding I could have hoped for. The weekend started out with a welcome party at our villa with traditional Greek food catered from one of our favorite little restaurants. This was a great night for our extended families to meet for the first time.

The next day was our Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at a small church atop a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea, complete with traditional Greek musicians to accompany us up the path. Our reception followed at Nammos Restaurant on Psarrou Beach with the most delicious dinner and even some Greek dancing which continued late into the night. The weekend wrapped up with a wooden boat sailing trip to the Island of Delos where we explored the ancient ruins, then returned to Mykonos in time to watch the sunset over the famous windmills.

A Wedding Squad We Dream of Being a Part Of

Not only does this rooftop cocktail and floral crown party look so fun but it’s super chic too! From the fresh flower decorated cake to the jewel-toned geodes, I’m sold on every design detail chosen by this posse of planners and photographers. With the talented likes of Santorini Glam Weddings, Tie The Knot Santorini and Santorini Bliss Weddings, it should be no surprise. Anna Roussos and Sandy and Odysseas Photography captured all the fun and this Vault gallery is what makes this Wednesday pretty great.

From the Girls… We are so lucky to be working with friends! Here in Santorini we have created a wonderful group of wedding vendor friends! We share so many professional and personal moments together. This year we decided to create a new tradition, to celebrate the beginning of wedding season by throwing a cocktail party for ourselves!

Our day started with a stroll at the stunning village of Oia, in Santorini. Us girls, all dressed up, walked in the picturesque paths of Oia and actually being in front of the camera for once was a terrific experience! Anna Roussos had a double role this time, she was both in front and behind the camera, taking these beautiful photographs of the day with the help of lovely Sandy and Odysseas.

Closer to the sunset time, the best time on a summer day, we went to Sphinx Wine bar in Oia, a listed 1850 mansion, with a cellar including more than 300 labels of local, Greek and international wines. Great wine, delicious canapés and creative cocktails. What else could we ask for?

Maria from Tie the Knot in Santorini, Evita from Santorini Glam Weddings and Manto from Santorini Bliss Weddings (or we can just put “us wedding designers”) designed a fresh and elegant tablescape with all the lovely details that we like to design for our lovely brides. We loved the super yummy cocktails and spoiled ourselves with Alexandra’s divine dessert tapas, and a lemon ginger tart decorated with fresh flowers! We even assembled a flower bar, where we created flower crowns, and flowers cones, having super amusing moments. The flowers, from Myrto and Betty Flowers, were our favourite; king proteas, peonies, hydrangeas and blue thistles.

It really was a day to remember! We had so much fun creating and celebrating at the same time! Cannot wait to repeat next year!

Romance and Greece Meet in this Stunning Inspiration Sesh

I love ALL destination weddings, I really, really do.  But a destination wedding in the Mykonos Islands? That’s a special kind of celebration – and the talented Live Love is showing us just how truly awesome it can be.  Think dreamy florals from Studio 7 Florescence and a stunning Costarellos gown… just to name a few of the pretty details.  See it all captured by Elias Kordelakos in THE VAULT and in a beautiful film from Lux Filmography below.

From Live Love… Having visited Mykonos so many times it’s hard to tell when exactly the idea for this photo shoot was born.

The bright sun, the Mediterranean blue, the endless horizon and the white houses of Mykonos feel like they’ve casted a spell and inspired emotions no one can resist and it felt like the scenery chose us for this bold and unique project.

While trying to find an out of the ordinary venue to host our project, we consulted our concierge expert Yannis Stasinopoulos of the Luxury Concierge we came across to The One Mykonos private villas in Agios Yannis, a small village with enormous scenery in the south-east side of Mykonos.

We brought together romantic pink and luxury pink gold which led us to a chic and dreamy result for our photo shoot captured by the creative eyes of the photographer Elias Kordelakos.

Nude pink linen combined with a touch of gold cutlery, all provided by White Lilac, was our table setting which was next completed and uplifted by the upside down flower arrangement hanging on top of the table. We decided not to go with the expected centerpiece and Studio 7 Mykonos undertook to make it possible. Of course it wouldn’t be a complete setting without elegant and classy stationery created by the talented Pavlos Leventellis of the Atelier Invitations.

In keeping with the romantic theme our model is wearing a harmonious yet astounding white wedding dress by Christos Costarellos to match the beauty of the island. The fuchsia flower headpiece on her hair is ascending the look and so is the beautiful and elegant make up done by Irene Chaleli and classy styled hair by Vassilis P. Diamantopoulos Hair Studio.

Taste is also a sense that needs to be pleased in a wedding and that’s why we decided to create a delicious and inviting buffet for the cheese and cold meat lovers especially, put together by ARIA Fine Catering and showcased on beautiful white consoles of Zazoo Event Rentals that also provided the rest of the furnitures. As for the exceptional cake, Pavlov’s Lab put all its effort to impress us and it really did.

As the sun sets in Mykonos, Sounds Good undertook to enlighten us along with our setting and unveil another more playful/party point of view.

All of the above could never have been concluded without the help of the FSD event logistics agency that arranged the transportation of all the needed details so as to have such a result.

Last but not least, so as to trigger more senses and convey emotions, Christina Kontoyannis of Lux filmography created a journey to the wonderful island of Mykonos through icons and music, trying to share the sweat taste that such a project left in each and every one that participated.

Live Love the event maker is here to make dreams come true through avant-garde aesthetics and successful planning skills.

A Boho Inspiration Session Fit for a Greek God + Goddess

This inspiration session from Anna Roussos Photography and The Event Co. is the perfect marriage (pun intended) of organic, natural beauty and colorful bohemian glamour. Combining the best elements of both styles — from the natural woods and lush greenery to the pops of color and whimsical reception seating — this editorial has it all. Head to The Vault for all the inspiration you need!

From Anna Roussos Photography… This styled shooting took place at my photography workshop in Athens Greece. When choosing the concept of the shooting me and Anna Sourbati (the owner and wedding planner from The Event Co) wanted to create something colourful & cozy with a dash of boho. Beautiful indoor and outdoor areas of Pyrgos Petreza offered us a great choice of locations. We decided to create an indoor ceremony set-up, outdoor lounge zone and outdoor dinner table set-up. Besides that our attendants had a portrait session with the bride&groom and also photographed some wedding essentials, such as wedding invitation set, diamond rings, flowers and cakes. I want to thank all the vendors for being so professional and inspiring! The One Day Workshop was a fantastic experience for me and hopefully for all the attendants, who left with a huge smile on their faces.

Trust Us, This is the Ultimate Destination Wedding in Greece

This is the story of when a handsome Spaniard met an Italian girl in Zurich, and the rest as they say is history. History written with their happy ending taking place in gorgeous Greece, and with Elias Kordelakos behind the lens capturing RockPaperScissorsEvents Greece magic, this is one wedding we’re forever favoriting. Love the look? See it all in The Vault!

From RockPaperScissorsEvents GreeceWhen a Spanish guy, met an Italian girl in Zurich and decided to get married in Greece!

This love story was sealed after Christian’s proposal to Melania in Porto (Portugal), on the top of “Torre dos clerigos” with the magnificent view of the whole town.

In their short visits in Athens they showed us how much they loved Greek food (meze), Greek company (Groom has so many friends from Greece) and of course the lovely location we suggested.

They wanted simple yet elegant details for their wedding and we promised them they would get them. Some details we loved: the canopy setup on the beach, bride’s personal dream that came true (She arrived on a horse, it’s name was Omerta!), the balloons guests set free after “i do”.

Everyone had so much fun and all the guests were really moved by the love of this couple.

A Sunset Destination Wedding in Santorini Full of Magic + Romance

Even if you’ve had your dream day planned since you were a little girl, this magical Santorini affair will convince you to ditch those plans for a destination wedding in the Greece. And if you do, be sure to hire the White Ribbon Boutique Events Coordination, the talent behind this romantic day. From White Ribbon Boutique Events CoordinationThe destination wedding of Sasha and Nicholas took place in the Cycladic Island of Santorini, Greece. The beautiful bride is Australian, the groom has origins from Greece. Therefore this wedding was a greater celebration of homecoming with family and friends uniting from two far away corners of the world to join the couple’s union.

The ceremony was held in the main square of Oia during sunset, where the bride arrived with her family and close friends in a procession on foot accompanied by local musicians performing traditional wedding songs.

The couple opted for a romantic decor but at the same time they wanted to incorporate the colors and natural elements found on the Cycladic island of Santorini. Their stationery was the color of the blue domed chapels and local houses while for their flowers they mixed pastel pink garden roses with vibrant fuchsia bougainvillea. The lovely bridesmaids wore blush dresses while the bride looked stunning in a lace Pallas Couture gown.

This beautiful day would not have been possible without the excitement, warmth and love of the couple’s friends and family who made the whole day the most memorable for the lovely couple.

From KT MerryOur inspiration for this shoot was the couple that didn’t want to just honeymoon in an incredible location but elope there as well. The beautiful landscapes of Santorini, the white cascade of architecture and the clear skies make these Greek Isles a picturesque place for an elopement, destination wedding or honeymoon. We stayed and photographed at Canaves Hotel in Oia and it was truly a magical setting. Walking through the narrow passages and overlooking the sprawling sea the backdrop is truly romantic and inspiring.

From Ever After HoneymoonsSantorini is the most romantic island, an absolute dream location for a honeymoon! For the ultimate suite, stay in the Infinity Pool Suite at Canaves Oia Suites. The views from here are stunning! Then I would highly recommend a sunset boat trip one evening, where you get the most incredible sunset views! This is complimentary for clients of Ever After Honeymoons.

From The Venue ReportCanaves Oia is a gorgeous, glittering, light & bright gem, carved into the Santorini seaside that also happens to be destination “I-do,” bucket-list breathtaking. With panoramic views of the village of Oia, the volcano and the Aedean sea, let’s guess your Insta-feed will be en fuego. Paradisiacal gathering possibilities range from a dramatic cliffside ceremony to a candle-lit dinner under the stars at onsite gourmet, restaurant, Petra. As for amazing accommodations, how does a suite with a river cave plunge pool sound? For us, Canaves Oia checks every destination I-do bucket list box – beautiful location and bespoke service coupled with extraordinary experiences you can’t get anywhere else. Opa!

Colorful Santorini Honeymoon

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a thousand more times – Santorini is the most beautiful place on the planet. So hire the likes of the talented Nicholas Purcell Studio to capture some beautiful moments while you are on island? Well, that’s a no brainer. And this pretty little gallery of images is proof. See even more in the VAULT.

From Nicholas Purcell StudioSantorini. It’s so well known for it’s sparkling white and blues that in photographing it, there is a danger of shooting nothing but cliche. But this beautiful island has so many shades of colour and varieties of light that are almost never seen. Sparkling whites are unavoidable sometimes, but I wanted to capture a feeling of this other island.

Romantic Mykonos Inspiration Shoot in Shades of Blue + White

Grab your passports, my dears, because this inspiration session from Les Anagnou Photographers is going to take you straight to Mykonos, Greece. Against the stark white buildings and rich blue water, every detail shines—from the Bride’s gorgeous Pronovias gown to the bright fuchsia bougainvillea accents. Soak up each and every pretty moment in The Vault!

From Les Anagnou PhotographersThe flavour of this shoot was one of bright contrasts softened by careful and loving attention to detail, reflecting Alexia and Ralph’s intimate location of their love shoot on the stunning Greek island of Mykonos, the island of the winds. This couple wanted to celebrate their love shortly after their wedding on mainland Greece.

So here on Mykonos, the couple came together and stood where the white washed clusters of buildings are set against the deep blue Aegean sea. As the sky created a clean bright backdrop, the famous windmills softened the scene turning with the strong winds that swept around the shore, blowing the bride’s veil into the air with a casual air of drama, in this the most luxurious and beautiful of all Greek wedding destinations.

Reflecting the blue and white landscape, the Event Company brought the details to life using gorgeous blue and white details in this love shoot, capturing the essence of Mykonos. The wedding invitations by Atelier Invitations reflect the colours and ruggedness of the coastline in a simple water colour illustration and calligraphy and the choice of tasteful dark blue envelopes capture the traditional flavour perfectly. The beautiful blue and white wedding cake by Cake by Maria’s Cakes & Cookies sets the table perfectly for this intimate dining experience.

The bride’s wedding dress by Pronovias matches the bright white simplicity of the surrounds, contrasts perfectly with the sharp dark lines of the groom. The flowers by Studio 7 ooze careful loving detail, with the bride’s white rose bouquet delicately softened by green and white berries and the floral decorations on the tables daringly brought a splash of colour and detail to the blue and white vintage tableware with its sprigs of pink bougainvilleas wrapped in luscious branches of grey green olive leaves.

Photography is by Greek fine art photographers Les Anagnou, passionate about capturing the love and location of a wedding on film. It’s hidden in the detail.

Elopement in Santorini Island

Santorini may just be one of my favorite places on the planet, so it makes perfect sense to me that this couple wanted to say I do on one of the prettiest islands in the whole wide world. And with the beyond talented Anna Roussos behind the lens to captured all the stunning moments, we are all left with a gallery that is beautiful in every sense of the word. See even more in the VAULT.

From The Bride…After visiting Greece in 2010 I was mesmerized with Santorini. I truly fell in love with the town, the people and the culture, which is very similar to our Latin culture. There is no other word to describe Santorini other than magical. My dream was one day to get married in Santorini and that dream came true when I met Marcelo. We wanted the wedding to be about us and our love so we decided to forgo the stress and elope in Greece. There can still be some stress planning a wedding from many miles away but this was easily gone once we found a wedding planner in Santorini to help our dream come true.

Thanks to social media we were able to find all the vendors we wanted for our day. The most important for us was finding a great photographer to capture the moment for our family and friends. We found Anna Roussos and immediately changed our wedding date just to have her as our photographer. It was totally worth it! Maria from Divine Weddings helped us through every step of the way and even took us to our florist to hand select the flowers for our wedding day. Every detail was planned out. Our wedding day was amazing we couldn’t have asked for more, as it was stress-free and only about us two. It was truly breathtaking, romantic and sentimental sharing this beautiful day with the love of my life in the most beautiful place in the world. The best day ever!!

Cozy Honeymoon Session in Santorini

And just like that, Kibogo Photography has ignited wanderlust in each and every single one of us, because this gallery sitting pretty in The Vault? Well, it’s honeymoon perfection. Imagine – waking up next to your beloved in out-of-this-world-stunning Santorini, sounds pretty dreamy right? Until we find ourselves there we’ll be living vicariously through through these honeymooners via The Vault!

From Kibogo Photography….Santorini, endless views for sunset and sunrise and white houses everywhere. A dream Island for photographer.I stayed in Kamari, a little and beautiful village next to the black beach. Kamari is the place where people come for a lazy day at the beach. There you have plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy traditional greek food but also sea food and other standard meals or just a Frappé (greek iced coffee drink). And this is where I met this super gorgeous couple after chatting a whole night via Instagram with Rachel. We never met before just found her through a hashtag #Santorini After a super fun afternoon at the beach they took me to Oia where they stayed and arranged everything for the couple shoot for the next day.

Oía and Imerovig is a must see! Oía is the city with many white houses/churches and blue roofs. Imerovigli has a beautiful view of the Caldera and both towns have magic sunset views. If you are in Oía you should definitely eat some crepes with nutella! They are the best! You have plenty cafés with a view.

From the Newlyweds… Santorini was one of the most magical, breathtaking places we’ve ever visited. We spent most of our time in our airbnb, but when we weren’t there we were exploring oia, watching the sunset, and drinking frappe on the beach (Kamari). We also shopped and ate in Thira one day, which was nice (Just a tad touristy). If you’re going there to honeymoon, I would definitely suggest checking out the airbnbs in Oia. They are a more affordable, yet just as beautiful way to experience the gorgeous caldera view. We also rented a car for a couple days, which was the BEST decision. We were able to travel across the entire island and experience all of the different types of landscape.

Intimate DIY Destination Wedding in Greece

I’m convinced the word breathtaking was invented to describe Greece—the bright blue water, the crisp white buildings and the stunning panoramas will quite literally take your breath away. And this wedding is no different.  With flowers foraged from neighboring fields and DIY décor from the Bride’s best friend, every detail of this day will make your heart skip a beat. See it all from Genevieve Fundaro Photography in The Vault!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/154315769 600 338]

From Genevieve Fundaro PhotographyThere is so much I could say about this wedding, I could write a long story about how beautiful it was, how amazing Greece is and how the experience of shooting an international wedding was something that changed me right down to my soul. I found my breath again in Greece, I found my creative heart beat and I found many new wonderful friends. I loved it, and I am so blessed to have been apart of Stacey and Mike’s adventure and call them friends

This casual, barefoot kinda come-home feeling wedding is filled with sentimental charm and exudes DIY at its best. All the decor was done DIY by the bride’s best friend in South Africa, the flowers were foraged from the fields around the reception venue, and make up and hair was done by family and friends.

Stacey and Mike have big hearts, that draw you in, and they are centered around relationships with family and friends. This inspired their wedding to be in Stacey’s home land of Greece, and of course that meant on a gorgeous greek island. Days up to the wedding were spent exploring the little towns of Paros Island, relaxing at the pool and learning greek dancing lessons on the roof of a hotel.

Romantic + Traditional Greek Island Wedding

I’m not usually at a loss for words, but words can’t do this Mira Zwillinger wedding dress justice—it’s that beautiful. And that dress, plus the scenic Greek island of Chios and this gorgeous Bride and Groom add up to one stunning destination wedding (and a serious case of wanderlust). Fall in love with each and every gorgeous detail, captured by Caught The Light and Can Kinalikaya, in The Vault!

MustWatch_swash-01

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/150599760 600 338]

From The Bride…Ever since I was a little girl it had been my dream to get married on the island of Chios in Greece. Chios is what I call my “true home” – my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents all come from this beautiful Greek island and I spent practically every summer there swimming in the turquoise seas, eating amazing food and living the chilled out, Greek summer life. Luckily, when Paul asked me to marry him, he let my dream become a reality and, after just under a year of crazy (yet wonderful) planning, our three day wedding bonanza took place in August.

We had decided to get married in the church of Saint Nicholas located in my father’s village and where he used to be an altar boy when he was growing up. As soon as we visited the church we knew we had to get married there – it is located right on the sea front, it is vibrantly decorated in blues and golds and the fact that it held such a special place in my father’s heart sealed the deal.

The happiest moment of my day was being led by my father in his captain’s uniform through the village to the church – I had all my family behind me and a Greek band playing the traditional Greek wedding song on my way. It was absolutely amazing. And when I caught sight of my husband waiting for me at the church entrance I did all that I could to keep it together! It was super hard!

After our wedding ceremony we treated our guests to some traditional Chian drinks and snacks outside the church and an opportunity to take some pictures on the seafront. It was then off to the wedding venue for the fun to start.

The Argentikon is located in Kampos, one of the most beautiful parts of Chios. Kampos is like a maze of fantastic red-stone houses, high walls, narrow streets and huge wooden doors that hide the most mesmerising estates behind them. This is completely true of the Argentikon which, hidden behind such wooden doors, lies acres upon acres of a 16th Century Italian estate surround by citrus groves. As soon as Joanna, our incredible wedding planner, took us around the Argentikon we knew we had to get married there. It was a true fairytale and I can’t explain how beautiful the venue looked. We started off with cocktail hour around an ancient water-wheel and cistern that used to water the acres of lemon and orange trees around us. As the sun was setting on the trees and the majestic bougainvillea all around, I felt like I was in a dream.

We then moved the guests on to the wedding breakfast area which was a gorgeous, outdoor courtyard covered in flowers, candles and accents of gold and blush. On the way in to the courtyard we had one of the ancient marble cisterns filled with water and hundreds of floating candles to add to the ambience of the venue. It really looked magical. As a nod to my husband’s Irish blood, we themed the table names after racehorses (and then each table got to bet on the length of the best men’s speech to “win” the race).

After dinner we had a traditional Greek band and surprised our guests with some traditional Chian dancers. This was when the party truly started and my husband pulled out some of the most amazing Greek dance moves I’ve ever seen (and he claims he didn’t even practice!).

All of our vendors were fantastic – from the wonderful Browns Bride in London where I found my dress to the most beautiful wedding stationery designed by Louise Richardson and our day was captured so magically by Chloe at Caught the Light Photography and Can Kinalikaya Videography. From Alex WarschauerI was contacted by my dear friend Ellie who I met while attending college up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ellie was an international student at the time living on campus, quite a change of pace from her home in Stockholm, Sweden. Unlike all of the weddings that I have photographed prior, this was unlike anything I had ever done before. This wedding was taking place in Athens, Greece and I was to fly across the world to capture Ellie and her fiancé Charles exchange their vows lakeside in the breathtaking town of Vouliagmeni.

The days leading up to the wedding were quite nerve racking. Every day we experienced scattered showers, strong wind, and even severe thunderstorms at night. This was not the weather I was expecting. Thankfully once the wedding day arrived the clouds rained themselves out and we had nothing but sunny skies. This was a huge relief, not just from a photographic standpoint but because the entire day was to take place outdoors. I met with Ellie in her suite the day of the wedding and knew right away this wedding was going to be extremely tasteful. Her hair was styled to absolute perfection with not a strand out of place. Her jewelry was simple and elegant, and she had her dress custom made by her friend Lina Nordin of A.Nordin.

The wedding went off without a hitch. The couple kept things very traditional and saved their first look until the bride walked down the aisle. After the ceremony we quickly hopped in a van with the bridal party and headed to the coast to capture some group shots and romantic sunset images. We headed back to the lake for family photos, toasts, and the most epic buffet-style dinner I have ever seen. Family and friends gave beautiful speeches throughout the night and half of the guests even surprised Ellie and Charles with a flash mob that brought tears to Ellie’s eyes. The party went on with drinks all around, homemade Greek ice cream and even a cigar bar.

From the Bride… After a romantic proposal in the beautiful scenery of Sedona Arizona, Charles and I were now facing a difficult decision of deciding where the wedding would take place. Charles is from USA and have his family all across the country, and my family is from Sweden and Greece. After a year of researching different venues, we finally decided on the beautiful and harmonic destination of Vouliagmeni. Vouliagmeni is in the heart of Athens Riviera, being located only 20 min away from both the airport and city center made the location ideal.

We currently live in Stockholm Sweden, so “scouting”- trips were a possibility. We made a few trips to meet with venues and wedding planners before making our minds up and had the pleasure of meeting Anna and Georgia from Bright Blue Wedding & Events during the summer of 2014. We felt an instant connection and trust in them, knowing they would be able to effectuate all of our dreams and expectation. They helped us to tailor the wedding so that each cultural heritage were incorporated and celebrated, yet kept an overall elegant Audrey Hepburn/Grace Kelly:ness to it. I can’t help to feel utterly blessed by the fact that every detail of our wedding was custom-made for Charles and I, and how it enabled us to keep an ongoing theme throughout every aspect of the wedding.

My extremely talented father-in-law Doug designed all of our stationaries and created our very own wedding logo used to seal each envelop. The midnight blue letterpress on top of the off-white vintage paper was a splendid interpretation of the wedding itself. So was my simple, yet elegant duchess silk wedding gown designed and handmade by my dear friend Lina Nordin – designer at A.Nordin. I spend the night before the wedding with one of my bridesmaid in the same suite we were to get ready in the next day, finishing up my hand-embroidered handkerchiefs I were to give all sets of parents the following day. I was well prepared for all the stress and chaos the next morning was to bring, a consensus confirmed by all brides Ive spoken to. Yet, waking up the next morning I felt nothing but pure happiness and excitement!

Seeing the venue upon arrival simply took my breath away! Anna and Georgia had not only listened to our ideas and wishes, but raised them and created something similar to a Monet painting. The trees were lit up by candles, the tables beautifully covered with midnight blue tablecloths and decorated with white hydrangea and water candles. The lake, exceptionally turquoise due to the setting sun, creating the mountain backdrop to take the most beautiful orange-amber color Ive ever seem. I never believed a photograph would do the scenery justice but Alex manage to capture not only the venue´s outstanding beauty, but all emotions flowing through the day as well.

From With Heart FilmsPaul and Sivan, decided to have their wedding in one of the hidden gems of the Greek islands. So they traveled all the way from Los Angeles to have their wedding in Naxos. Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades island group in the Aegean. It has some of the most beautiful beaches, traditional villages unaffected by time and with most recognizable landmark the gate of Apollo’s temple. Sivan is a beautiful woman, inside and out and not only that but she is also incredibly talented and full of passion and creativity. Co-founder at MUSE and sharing inspiration and ideas through sivanayla.com, it is no wonder she organized all the details of her wedding perfectly.

We were welcomed with open hearts from both Paul and Sivan, as well from the Richards and Vardi families and for three days,we lived with them the adventure that was P & S wedding. An adventure that found us walking in the small alleys of the town of Naxos, doing a magical ride to traditional villages still unaffected by time and sailing at sunset to Paros, on a boat full of people laughing and dancing.

The ceremony took place at Banana, in the amazing St. Anna beach, where in front of their friends and families, Sivan, in her gorgeous Galia Lahav dress, looking stunning and Paul equally handsome and elegant, exchanged their vows. Once again we had the joy of working with talented Adonis Kekidakis as the photographer. We feel blessed that we shared all those moments of laughter and tears and love. Mostly love. The night found everyone partying, celebrating the union of these two “star-crossed lovers”.

From the Bride… Like all good stories it started with amazing wine and food. Jonny was working on a big project away from home with my cousin and we would often spend the weekends away as a group eating and drinking. I guess it was during this time together that we realized how similar we were and our relationship grew. I was so surprised when Jonny proposed I didn’t believe him at first. We had gone to a beautiful resort in Fiji for my birthday week and we were having bubbles in our bure, he cleverly crafted a ring out of the champagne cage and before I knew it was down on one knee proposing with his creation.

Jonny had always talked about eloping, but we wanted to include our families, so instead we chose Greece so we could have a small traditional Greek ceremony, since Jonny is Greek and a big party with everyone when we got back. It was the best of both worlds. Although organizing a wedding from so far away was tricky and we couldn’t visit any of our vendors before the wedding, it was outweighed by the positives.

I had never been a girl that had imagined my wedding before I was engaged, but once I started looking at weddings abroad, I had a clear idea of what I wanted. I loved Anna Roussos’ style of photography, with the beautiful soft light and knew from the get go, she was a must have.

I had always wanted an alfresco courtyard dinner and with the glorious days in Rethymno we were all able to sit out in the courtyard till the early hours of the next morning without once thinking about the temperature. We chose Crete as it has a more rural feel than some of the other islands, and a lot greener which reminded me of home.

Agreco Farm was absolutely picture-perfect with an amazing courtyard and landscape. Also they had the cutest chapel on the grounds which we were able to use, we couldn’t all fit inside so we were married in the late afternoon sun in front of it, by the local Priest. There is a lot of paper work to get sorted with a traditional wedding in Greece, so we were very happy to have White Ribbon Boutique Events help for this.

Since we were unable to source everything we needed in Greece, so we did some DIYing and we organized some details from New Zealand like stationery, linens, lights, etc.

While we had our photos taken, our guests were entertained with a tour of the farm. Agreco makes all its own products like wine, olive oil, raki and honey. I don’t think our guests even noticed we were missing as they enjoyed tasting the local produce and visiting the farm animals.

The food was amazing in traditional Cretan style. Being proud kiwis we brought our gorgeous Central Otago Pinot Noir and a couple of other Prophets Rock wines which paired perfectly with the quail, lamb and suckling pork all organically grown on Agreco farm.

Later, there was even time for a lesson in traditional Greek dancing! We will never forget our trip and how special the locals made us feel.

Idyllic Destination Wedding in the Greek Isles

After I saw “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” all I wanted to do was jet off to Greece, and it’s safe to say that this beautiful destination wedding is having the exact same effect. From the Groom’s adorable transportation (a charming Calessino!) to the Bride’s gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown, this wedding has us completely smitten. See it all from Anna Roussos Photography in THE VAULT!

From The Event CompanyThe wedding of Tatiana & Nicholas, took place in the idyllic island of Spetses. Where the amazing combination of pine and sea creates spectacular views of natural beauty. Here, the history meets elegance and tradition.

The wedding ceremony was held in St. Nicholas, one of the oldest churches in Spetses of post Byzantine cross style with the extremely finely crafted bell towel where the flag of the Revolution was hoisted in 1821.

The reception was hosted in the historical Poseidonion Grand Hotel that has been a landmark on the Spetses skyline for the past 100 years with its exceptional architecture echoing hotels of Côte d’Azur style.

The decor was inspired by the couple’s wish to create a classic and elegant wedding, we used white and green flowers hydrangea, peony, dusty miller, aromatic gardenia and lavender!

Blue was our main color. The invitation and gift, was a custom-made linen turquoise box with their initials. With personal stamp of the couple in sealing wax, (the oldest method authentication) an exact copy of traditional Spetses boat in scale. Our groom went to church with the most glamorous tricycle in the world! Classic, but also the glamorous Calessino, symbol of Italian style. The bride of course arrived with the traditional blue horse and carriage. It was a romantic, elegant wedding, with a dreamy Oscar de la Renta wedding dress. Tatiana and Nicholas, a special couple, a marriage that has come out from fairy tales.

Rustic Elegant Crete Destination Wedding

I’ve never been to Crete but if this destination wedding is any clue to what it’s like, sign me up for a flight pronto. It’s no wonder these New Yorkers chose this Greek island to say “I do” with its postcard-worthy views and an ambiance that takes over all who step foot there (or in this case, any of us who are lucky enough to view Anna Roussos’ pics and Olive Tree Films’ clip). Rock Paper Scissors Events took that energy and scattered it throughout this rustic elegant affair – and it’s all in our VAULT for us to enjoy!

From the Bride… Living in New York City you meet a lot of people, but chances are those people never seem to quite catch your eye – with Anis things were different. From our first meeting things went fast, there was an instant attraction. It wasn’t about going out to a bar, or fancy dinners, it was about adventure, excursions and getting to know each other. I took a chance and decided to join him on a work trip to LA. I thought if we get along traveling so soon in our relationship it was something worth investing in. I was right. From then on out we spent every minute together. After we got engaged we knew we didn’t want to wait to get married. So six months to the day of our engagement we said I do.

We always knew we wanted to get married in Europe. Being Greek-American it made it a little easier for me to plan our wedding in a place that I was familiar with. We also wanted to make it easy for our guests flying from all over the world so Crete made the most sense. Ironically, Anis had been to Elounda before but I hadn’t.

Planning a destination wedding is not an easy task. Especially in the 5ish months we planned it in. Our wedding planners Helena and Paraskevi of Rock Paper Scissors were absolutely the reason why everything went so smoothly. Their vendors were top-rate and executed everything better than we imagined.

We wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. It was not only about us getting married, but about enjoying time with the people that meant most to us. We aimed to create a natural, intimate setting and a place where people could really have fun.

From Rock Paper Scissors Events… Elaina was definitely one of our most delicate and fancy brides. So elegant in her manners though completely aware of the style she was going for, she didn’t settle for anything but the best for her one big day. She wanted an organic and elegant feeling and we tried to embrace the magnificent Cretan surroundings and incorporate the absolute stunning views into our concept. And I think we did great! Elaina and Anis are a couple truly in love and along with their families and friends they got one great night of celebration and many more afterwards in the Greek islands. Crete is definitely a romantic destination and we hope that Anis and Elaina will live happily ever after.

Sun-Soaked Santorini Wedding

When a Santorini wedding comes across my desk, I stop everything. From Santorini Glam WeddingsA couple we will never forget! Full of love and happiness, Joyce and Nathan chose Santorini to celebrate their special day along with their close family and friends. The planning process was absolutely lovely, with emails full of enthusiasm and anticipation for the big day!

Joyce wanted an all white wedding and we couldn’t agree more with her decision. Aiming for a unique and luxurious style, she knew exactly what her dream was and our goal was to make her dream come true. We used beautiful David Austin and garden roses together with olive branches for the flower decorations and lots of candles to create a romantic atmosphere.

The details didn’t stop there, after all we had to bring a girl’s dream to life! Joyce walked down the aisle with a harpist playing their favorite song. Furniture and tableware were brought from Athens to complete the ideal dinner set up.

The wedding of Joyce and Nathan was all about creating memories and spending quality time with their friends. A welcoming party on the beach, which was followed by a rehearsal dinner overlooking the Caldera and a private catamaran cruise around the volcano completed the perfect four-day celebration of their wedding.

From The Bride…I always assumed I would have a huge wedding with my big family all in attendance whenever the day came. However, when my sweet husband, Nathan, and I got engaged, we both kept fantasizing about an intimate affair in an unforgettable location. Our idea of a perfect wedding day is sharing it with close friends and family with enough time to talk to, take pictures with, and thank every single guest personally. We just couldn’t shake the dream of a destination wedding!

We visited Santorini on a cruise in 2012 and it remained at the top of our list for a possible location. Once we browsed the work of our incredible planner, Evita Psycha, and the jaw-dropping photos from Anna Roussos Photography, we knew Greece was it!

We spent five days in paradise with our sixteen guests traveling all the way from Los Angeles and Scotland. Everything was just perfect from our beachside welcome party complete with a fire dancer, the magical sunset rehearsal dinner in Fira, our dream wedding, and taking everyone sailing the next morning on a private boat around the caldera as our way of saying, “Thank you”. We will certainly cherish these memories for a lifetime.
