Here’s Why That Pricey Wedding Photography Cost Is Worth Every Penny

If you’ve taken the time to look at potential photographers and their pricing, you may have noticed that it can be WAY expensive. But there is absolutely a reason why: wedding photography is in a class of its own. We don’t mean that in an aesthetic, “look how pretty it is” way. We mean that in the nitty gritty amount of work that goes into it way. Wedding photographers develop a unique skill set, dealing with sticky situations, anxious brides, sudden weather changes, and other hiccups. It is through years of trial and effort, practice, training, and development, plus sheer hard work that they have become the artists that they are! And yes, they are artists.

Like most vendors, photographers quote based off the cost of material and their time—but keep in mind, that goes well beyond the number of hours they put in on the day of! An experienced photographer will go all in to make sure they’re ready for your day. They will take time to visit your ceremony and reception sites, to make sure they’re  familiar with the surroundings of their snaps, what layout and lighting they’ll be working with, and what (if any) challenges they might face. Not to mention, they will take time to meet with you beforehand to get a sense of who you guys are as a couple and what you’re envisioning for your special day. Then after the wedding is done, they’ll spend marathon days editing photos to produce a gorgeous, well-curated portfolio.

So with that in mind, here’s a list of some factors photographers take into consideration when building out their pricing:

  • Educational Background | Is the photographer academically trained in photography? Are they continuing their development on a regular basis by participating in workshops and conferences?
  • Years of Experience | How long have they been shooting weddings?
  • Location | Photographers in large cities and destination locations  may charge more for their services.
  • Awards and Accolades | Has their work earned any honors or distinctions over the years? (This can often show you what kind of weddings they’re exceptional at shooting.)
  • Published Features | Do they have work featured in prominent and industry-leading wedding publications like Style Me Pretty? While it might not be especially important to you, it does bolster those aforementioned professional accolades.
  • Hours of Coverage | How long will they be available on your wedding day? Do you need them from morning until midnight, or would six hours suffice?
  • Second Shooters | A second shooter is, of course, an additional expense, but having one will allow for more moments to be captured during larger weddings. Unless your wedding is small and intimate, a second shooter is pretty much a must. You can trust your photographer’s recommendation on this.
  • Travel Expenses | Will the photographer need to travel a long distance to attend your wedding? What sort of traveling expenses might they incur? You’ll be responsible for covering these additional costs.
  • Hours of Editing | So much time and energy is put into editing the photos from your day! As a rule of thumb, the more hours of coverage you have, the more time the gallery will take to edit.
  • Gear | The tools a photographer uses are costly and, as such, can factor into pricing. This includes state of the art cameras, lenses, lights, reflectors, styling mats, film (if a film photographer), etc. Top notch photographers replace their gear regularly!
  • Album Costs | Most good photography packages include luxe photo albums, and the cost to have one made will be included in your pricing should you choose to order one. We’re big fans of albums and will always recommend that you do one. Yes, it can add up, but you won’t want to skimp on this—it’s one of the best keepsakes you’ll have in life.
  • Insurance | Many high-end photographers have business insurance to cover any liability concerns that could arise (for example: if they accidentally break a glass at the venue, or if a guest trips over their camera bag or injures him/herself on a piece of photo equipment).

Because of all these factors, photographers are available for work at several pricing tiers. Keep in mind that those priced lower generally have less experience, less education, and less (or lower quality) equipment. So, if you’re looking at $ versus $$$ vendors, put in some extra time to really research them and their abilities. If you decide to inquire with them, ask about their process and background to make sure you trust them with your day.

“Every photographer is priced differently and offers a different experience to their couples. We are not all the same! Photographers differ by personality, editing style, what medium they use to create their images, the deliverables they offer, the number of shooters they offer, the experience of those second shooters, the number of images they deliver to clients, the amount of hours they spend with you on the wedding day, years of experience, the number of weddings they’ve shot, and many other variables. You’re not just comparing apples to apples when it comes to photographers.”

An Elegant Wedding In Mallorca Inspired By White Roses

This timeless and elegant celebration in Mallorca is proof that dreams do come true.  The idyllic day was perfectly planned by Moments Weddings & Events, and Otro Cantar Decoracion created a floral vision inspired by the couple’s favorite flower- white roses. Photography by Sandra Mañas Photography beautifully captures the love and joy of the day, you can take a closer look inside the full gallery.

From the bride… James and I had been together for 6 years when he proposed to me in the December of 2018 at our favorite place in the Cotswolds, Soho Farmhouse UK. James had selected the most idyllic spot to propose on the resort, we had dinner booked in the evening and afterward, he walked me to the most beautiful greenhouse filled with flowers and candlelight.

It had always been a dream of mine to get married abroad, and I have always felt a strong connection to Spain, as did James. We visited many venues around the Balearic Islands before discovering the beautiful village of Deia, Mallorca. There’s just something magical about Deia and Belmond La Residencia Mallorca was everything we were looking for and more! It just felt right.

I’ve always loved neutrals. For me, they’re timeless and elegant and I felt they would really complement the Mallorcan landscape. I used the same color tones from the invitations, the wedding stationary, and even down to the bridal and groom party outfits. The groomsmen wore beige linen suits with a crisp open-neck shirts and the bridesmaids wore beautiful olive green satin gowns.

When it came to selecting the flowers I knew that I wanted to create my vision around white roses. They’ve been a favorite of both mine and James’ so it had significance to us on the day. The bouquet was long stem white roses and I attached my grandmother’s rosemary beads to the stem as my something borrowed and something blue. For the ceremony, we used gypsophila with long stem roses around the entrance, and on the altar, the flower girl wore a floral headband made of gypsophila and the Bridesmaids also held a smaller bouquet of long stem roses.  For the wedding breakfast, I wanted to create a modern, understated yet elegant display. Nothing too much as the restaurant El Olivo is already so beautiful. It has the most spectacular view of the village and the church on top of the hill where we had just been married, so I didn’t want to distract from that. The color tones remained the same, a mix of white & sand roses with the addition of white Orchids.

It would be really hard to select a favorite part of the day/ evening. Everything was just exactly as we wanted, and I think that’s a credit to my wedding planner, Lourdes at Moments Weddings & Events for really understanding our vision and also our brilliant vendors. There’s truly not one thing I would change. If I was to say one aspect that had the most impact, perhaps unexpectedly was the mini tambourines, personalised with ‘fiesta’ written on the front. We gave these to our guests as a wedding favor to give them an insight into what was to come. This was a decision we made towards the end of the planning as we were struggling to come up with a wedding favor we felt connected to. Our wedding meal was hosted by our amazing wedding band, The Function Band UK. They are the most talented musicians that interact and encourage dancing between courses, so the tambourines were perfect and it was something everyone could take away with them as a memory of the fun we had.

Selecting my dress was a pretty easy process, I’ve always loved the Berta Bridal Couture style and I knew I wanted something elegant, glamorous, and sexy. It was important that I felt like myself in my wedding dress and I wanted something I knew James would like too! I was lucky enough to find this at only the second shop I visited at The Wedding Club, London UK. They also did all of my alterations and packed it for flying. My garter was made by my bridesmaid´s mum as a gift from the obliques cut off the bottom of my dress. It´s a nice way to use the extra material from the dress and also a personal touch. My advice for brides to be; make your decisions confidently and true to you both as a couple. Once you’ve made them, don’t look back, move forward to the next one. Relax and be present in the moment. It goes so quickly, you need to take it all in and remember it’s really all about you and him.

A Textural and Carefree Wedding on Maui in Beautiful Sunset Hues

From the mismatched ‘maids to the endless ocean views – today’s Maui celebration is nothing short of paradise. Couture Events planned the entire weekend to perfection, while Teresa Sena Designs adorned their day in romantic garden blooms. See the full gallery captured by Dmitri and Sandra Photography for all the island wedding inspo!

From Dmitri and Sandra Photography… We had the pleasure to meet Sam and her mom at the beginning of the wedding planning stages. As we walked around their venue, they started to mention all the comfortable and inviting areas they wanted to have for their guests and families. This is when we knew their celebration would be one of a kind! A fun and carefree Maui Wedding with their closest friends and family was the way they chose to celebrate their very special day in a place that means a lot to them. Their impeccable style and laid-back personalities stole our hearts.

From Erica of Couture Events Maui… I was so honored to have been chosen as Sam and Brenden’s wedding planner. Sam has some pretty strong ties to Maui, especially the venue they chose, where she grew up playing in the summer months. They wanted a unique experience for guests that was carefree and fun, true to their personalities so naturally, we created a laid-back cocktail reception.

Surf was up that weekend, perfect for Sam’s family of surfers – her family owned a surf apparel company on Maui. Waves crashed in the background of their oceanfront ceremony… it was one of the most perfect Maui days, totally fitting for their wedding.

The food and drinks were exceptional with a unique and unexpected take on local cuisine. A lot of lounge areas were created and different spaces to allow guests to relax and enjoy the views.

As day turned into night, an Island Kings Band, an energetic Oahu-based band, filled their reception space, creating a lively atmosphere for guests to sip, dine and dance the night away as they celebrated Sam and Brenden.

Some words we kept in mind while designing: fun, textural, casual, and carefree.

About the flowers: Sam loves soft and romantic garden flowers. She is also one that loves modern clean looks so we had Teresa Sena create these gorgeous bridesmaids bouquets that were all mono-bloomed in white. I think these were probably my all-time favorite bridesmaids’ bouquets.

Offering lei to friends and family is a traditional greeting in Hawaii. Sam and Brenden had a white orchid lei waiting for each guest on their ceremony chair as a way to say “welcome and mahalo”.

A Black-Tie Celebration In Prague Filled With A Punchy Color Palette

Sweeping views of Prague and a punchy color palette make this destination wedding an absolute must-see.  The day was beautifully planned by Exclusive Weddings In Prague, and floral design by Inspirito brings the couple’s love story to life.  Get lost in all the lovely images shot by Stepan Vrzala Photography inside the full gallery.

From the bride… I’m from Florida, Richard is from Prague, and we live in New York. We are both old souls. There was never any question about where to get married, Prague was the easy choice. We wanted to incorporate both Czech and American traditions in an elegant, romantic, Black Tie party. When considering venues, Lobkowicz Palace had it all – the balcony terrace with a stellar view of the Old Town, a variety of rooms with unique character, wonderful staff, history, a ballroom that takes your breath away, and a Bösendorfer grand piano. I’m a pianist and composer, so the day was envisioned and crafted around music. We wanted to treat family and friends flying from overseas, as well as those from Prague, to an experience they’d never forget, with personal touches. Our wedding planner, Andrea of Exclusive Weddings In Prague – one of the coolest, most fabulous women on the planet – made that a reality and made it all look easy. Upon entering the palace, guests were treated to a glass of Moët while strolling around the halls of art from the Lobkovicz family collection, leading to the Balcony Hall and Terrace to take in the intricate ceilings and sweeping views of Prague.

While guests arrived at the palace, Richard and I took our formal photos, driving around Prague and drinking Becherovka in a vintage Rolls Royce. Doors opened to the Concert Hall for the ceremony, where local pianist Andrea Mottlova played music composed by my brother-in-law as our families walked down the aisle. My parents and I walked down the aisle to my own original composition for piano, dedicated to Richard. Our dear friend was the officiant, and my sister surprised us by reading a poem she wrote for us. Cocktail hour kicked off with Melody Quartet playing upbeat waltzes while everyone enjoyed delectable cocktails by the dapper gentlemen with Bars & Kai. When the energy was building up, we surprised everyone with a performance of opera arias “La donna e mobile” and “Libiamo ne’ lieti calici” by two incredible local opera singers. Everyone was floored; the delight in the room was palpable. On that high note, guests were invited to the Imperial Hall, where Metroklub Big Band jazzed the night up. Imperial Hall is magical; everyone noted how it took their breath away to walk into the grand ballroom with a 14-person big band playing. It felt like stepping back in time, a whole mood. Also, our florist, Marketa from Inspirito, did an amazing job! We decided to have the ceremony all in white and green and add colors to the reception and my bouquet. She understood perfectly our wishes and I would never imagine the flowers would be so dreamy.

After the “breaking of the glass” Czech wedding tradition, we had our first dance to Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade. Dancing together at that moment, we did not want it to end. As dinner and speeches progressed, everyone couldn’t help but get up to dance between courses. During dinner the band played jazz classics like “Beyond the Sea” and “Fly Me To The Moon,” but once dinner was over they kicked things up a notch with dance tunes like “September” and “Uptown Funk.” At one point the saxophonists joined us on the dance floor. And of course, we had to do a Czech Polka. For the after party, Andrea transformed Balcony Hall from cocktail hour into a disco dance party, complete with an LED dance floor, DJ, drunk food display, bar and lounge, and of course… A cheese tower is my special request as an alternative to a wedding cake. We partied in the palace until 3 am. Everything about that day was magic and romance. We’ll never forget it! We can’t stop looking at Stepan Vrzala Photography’s photos, and we’re so thankful to Andrea and all our vendors who were a joy to work with.

A Lavish Late Summer Wedding In The Chianti Shire

Ready for some romance in the rolling Tuscan hills? The Tuscan Wedding carefully curated every impeccable detail for this swoon-worthy day, and florals by Il Giardino Delle Fate add to the elegance.  Every moment is captured in time in artful imagery by Koman Photography, visit the full gallery to get an up-close look at it all.

From The Tuscan WeddingTucked into the rolling Tuscan hills, a bright, beautiful sun arose on the 9th of September over Castiglion del Bosco Villa Sant’Anna, where a luxurious, romantic wedding would take place later in the day. Aleksandra and Shamsu, bride and groom-to-be, could relax and enjoy the rustic, elegant accommodations offered by their chosen venue without a single worry. After all, their wedding had been planned by The Tuscan Wedding, and the wedding planning team is well-known for their attention to detail, impeccable professionalism, and connections to some of the best vendors in the wedding industry available in Italy. In her suite, Aleksandra allowed Hair stylist Lara Navarrini to work her magic, leaving the bride with a glowing, natural look thanks to an elegant bun decorated with a simple yet sophisticated flowery bridal pin. It matched her dress perfectly – a sheer, gorgeous white ball gown with long sleeves and a full skirt exquisitely covered in intricate applique flowers and pearl detailing. The look was completed with delicate, sparkling diamond jewelry to match her three-tier Princess-cut engagement ring and white pumps decorated with diamond accents. The bride and her bridal party were well-pampered throughout the morning, leaving them perfectly ready to enjoy the upcoming ceremony in the afternoon.

Shamsu was dressed in his own classic black suit, with a black Tom Ford bowtie and black cufflinks decorated with a silver skull, a nod to the Groom’s personal sense of style and perhaps sense of humor, as he later enjoyed photos with his groomsmen, grinning together at the camera as they all donned sunglasses for expert Photographer Koman Photography. As the time for the ceremony grew closer, the air was full of excitement, joy, and so much love, and as Aleksandra approached her husband-to-be with her father in arms, the couple could simply not stop smiling. Against the backdrop of ancient, flowering castle ruins and the lush décor done by the florists at Il Giardino Delle Fate and The Tuscan Wedding, the couple exchanged their vows to the cheers of their guests. Around them, the aisle arrangements featured white and blush roses that matched the bride’s bouquet and groom’s boutonniere, as well as the graceful flower arrangements worn by the bridal party. This same theme would be seen throughout the night and day, as guests were welcomed after the ceremony to a reception with live music and an open cocktail bar hosted in an airy, luxurious pavilion and the sprawling gardens of a private villa, right by a beautiful pool facing the romantic Italian countryside.

Richly decorated with white flowing curtains, sparkling crystal, and gold chandeliers, and the same blush-and-white roses hanging both from the rafters of the ceiling and along the golden floor lanterns next to each table. The pavilion was the perfect mix of rustic, romantic, and elegant décor. Everything was executed to polished perfection; from the sumptuous canapés and full-course menu done by Castiglion del Bosco Villa Sant’Anna’s own restaurant, a wine and cocktail bar featuring the best of local Italian wines and Beer, and the beautiful three-tier wedding cake by Tuscan Wedding Cakes decorated in cascading flowers and surrounded by lit, romantic candles. Aleksandra and Shamsu could even join their guests in enjoying real Italian gelato from a rustic, charming gelato cart provided by Miss 500 – when they weren’t taking photos by a beautiful, white vintage Excalibur courtesy of Noleggio Limousine Toscana. Even the smallest details – from personalized favors in the form of personalized extra-virgin olive oil and intricate, handmade wedding fans for guests to use in the Tuscan sun – helped make Aleksandra and Shamsu’s wedding an unforgettable event for all who attended. After a night full of music, dancing, fun, and laughter, both the guests and the couple could only watch the spectacular fireworks display that closed their fairytale Tuscan wedding with a glass of prosecco in hand and a dreamy smile on their faces, knowing their special day had been truly that: perfectly, blissfully special.

A Chic Cozy Baby Shower with The Cutest Pink Dress Ever

The weather may be getting a hint warmer and the first signs of Spring peaking through, but I for one, am fully cozied up with the most beautiful Winter inspired baby shower I have ever laid eyes on. From the stunning Nashville home to the most adorable hot pink baby shower dress ever, each detail was meant to evoke a feeling of warmth and all out luxury. And me and my cup of hot cocoa are fully on board with all of the pretty. Photography by Abigail Lewis | Planning by Molly Sohr.

From photographer, Abigail LewisBaby showers come in all shapes and sizes, but this one in particular came with a heavy dose of lovely, filled with gorgeous details, a cozy and wonderfully welcome setting and perhaps, the most adorable mom-to-be the internet has ever seen.

Sarah Kate, sister of talented wedding planner Molly Sohr, came into town for the holiday season, and Molly used this as the perfect excuse to throw a cozy, modern baby shower.

<

There were plenty of pops of pink for the arrival of “Baby GG” (Ginevra Grace), who whose beautiful name reflects her parents’ current home in Italy. It was the perfect winter day, complete with a few falling snow flakes right after guests arrived.

Molly and Sarah Kate both emphasized the importance of getting a few portraits taken with family, as they are very rarely together in the same home. In the words of Molly, “It was such a joy filled day hosting my beautiful sister + mom-to-be’s baby shower in January. I could not be more excited to be an aunt this march!”

In-home chef, The Salted Table, created an unbelievably intricate brunch spread that was truly irresistible, complete with a buffet style setup on the kitchen island featuring delicious brunch items like avocado toast, build your own omelets, French toast, and more. Molly even created a delicious ‘mocktail’ that the guest of honor could enjoy – a Lemon Ginger Spritz MockTail: lavender | ginger komboucha | soda water | lemon | mint. For our other guests, we had a separate small bar area for self serve cocktails, mocktails, champagne + rosè”.

We opted for had open seating to create a more causal environment for a daytime event. Then, . All in all, it was a day for the books!

Field Guide: Everything You Actually Need In Your Kitchen

How many times have you wanted to try out a recipe, only to realize that you don’t have the right tool? On the flip side, how many lists have you seen that make you think you NEEEEDD this EXTREMELY expensive tool….and it sits in a cabinet forever?

So what do you actually need to have in a fully stocked kitchen? Simple is best when it comes to decking out a kitchen! And here’s a little secret — most tools have interchangeable functions, and you can do a WHOLE lot with a little.

So here are the basic kitchen items you need, and when you’ll use them!

RULE OF THUMB

Quantity
There are certain things that you’re going to want to make sure you’re well stocked up on. When it comes to serveware, it’s best to buy in sets. Depending on your family size (think extended + close family) you’ll want to make sure you’ve got 6, 8 or 12 of each item.

But, when it comes to your cookware, less is best! You don’t need 6 spatulas, you need two quality spatulas — one in use and one to be cleaned! Keep that in mind as you’re filling out your gadgets

Quality
It’s better to get what’s made well and will last you a long time then to have a tool go out of commission right when you need it! Look for things like stainless steel, silicone and quality wood and you’ll be in good hands.

And while fine china is a-ok to be hand-washed, you’ll want to make sure everything else is dishwasher safe!

EVERY DAY USE

Knives: A good set of knives can stay with you for a lifetime. You’ll need a pairing knife for small, intricate situations, a chef’s knife for nearly everything else, and table steak knives that you’ll serve with. Ultimately, you can get a full set that contains all of these knives and stores them in a nice little handy holder.

Mixing Bowls: A must-have for every recipe. You’ll want to go with a set bowls that are sturdy, come in a good range of sizing, and if you get glass bowls these can also double as serving bowls.

Measuring Utensils: The trick here is that you’ll actually need 2 different types of measuring — cups and table & teaspoons! There are so many cute ones out there, but time over time you’ll be better off with a solid stainless steel set that will last you year over year.

Cutting Board: Cutting boards protect your knives AND countertops, but choosing the material is really important. Wood cutting boards are so much prettier and very decorative, but when you’re working with meat you’re going to definitely want an extremely washable plastic cutting board on hand.

Spatulas: When you look up spatulas you get two things— the squeegee looking thing that you use to get the ~last~ drop of batter out of a bowl, and the flat surface tool to flip things. both are vital tools to help you around the kitchen and here we stress that QUALITY is KEY. You don’t want a bunch of flimsy tools that break mid-bake, and even the “expensive” version of these tools aren’t that expensive so this is an area where you can confidentially splurge and go for something good. Bonus, many times both of the aforementioned spatulas come in sets so you can get what you need all at once. Also don’t overlook the tiny spatula, comes in very handy in contexts like peanut butter :)

Wooden Spoons: This is a dark horse power tool of cooking. For whatever reason, wooden spoons are old school necessities. There are some AMAZING old-world Italian marinara recipes that actually demand that you only use a wooden spoon to make the marinara. Plus, these are sturdy without hurting any of your pots and pans

Strainer: If you’re a mac ‘n cheese aficionado, you already know this. A good strainer can make the difference for whether or not you lose a good spoonful of noodles down the drain. You CAN get by with using a lid or any other “stopping” trick, but at the end of the day, this is a good investment because you can use it for all pastas, cleaning your produce and getting liquid out of all your accidentally watery endeavors.

There’s a difference between a colander and the handheld sifters, and for that matter, you can even have a hand-held strainer. The sifters are typically used to make solid things finer (think flour and cocoa powder) whereas the colander and hand-held strainer are for liquids.

Storage Containers: Properly utilizing your leftovers is a game-changer in your budget and making your food last longer — but in order to do that you need to store your food properly! We HIGHLY recommend you invest in quality here. If you get oven and dishwasher safe glass storage containers, all of a sudden you prevented the use of 2 extra dishes and that is invaluable! They also have these really cool stasher bags that are freezer, microwave and boiling safe — and they’re reusable! Cook once, eat twice, store everything properly. It’s a game-changer.

Can Opener: This is something you never think about needing until you’re trying to open a can of tomato sauce. So here’s your friendly reminder to snag up a can opener of your own. If you’re really feelin’ fancy (or your lefthanded and totally over the negligent design of traditional can openers) they also have electric can openers! We’d classify that appliance as a splurge for cooking enthusiasts, but it’s also just kind of cool to have honestly.

COOKTOP

Before we hop into types of cooktop pots and pans, let’s talk about the material. There are two standard options: non-stick and stainless steel. Both have pros and cons.

Non-stick pans do what the name suggests and makes cleanup after dinner much easier, but you have to re-coat them periodically and once they start chipping, you have to toss them out because you don’t want a bunch of bits and particles in your food. Also, sometimes the “stick” when cooking means flavor. You need a good stick to get your steaks crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The pros use stainless steel because it lasts practically forever and when you use oils and heat properly, the stick is actually an advantage. Clean up requires a little more elbow grease, yes, but if you’re thinking long term, stainless steel is the way to go.

Skillets: Skillets come in a variety of sizes and are a shallow, breathable vessel to cook vegetables, meats, pancakes and really everything else. You can get by with two GOOD skillets, and the size you want totally depends on how much you typically cook. Getting a lid is a major bonus because it helps with the cooking process and keeps your kitchen a bit cleaner.

Pots & Pans: Most any time you’re dealing with liquids — reach for a pot! These have higher walls and keep the heat in, which allows you to fill them up a lot more! You should have a standard medium sized pot for everyday use, a smaller “saucepan,” and a larger stockpot which is great for boiling pasta and making lots of yummy soup.

Dutch Ovens: A dutch oven is one of the most versatile cooking tools you can have. This bad boy does everything from making the perfect steaks and simmering delish soups, all the way down to crisping up a crumble in the oven. The heat up slow and low and retain heat for seemingly forever. These are a very large investment typically, so take your time in choosing one you want. You can choose between an enamel-covered version that is a true kitchen accent, or a cast-iron one that’s sturdy, and you can even get a stainless steel one to match sets. Take good care of your dutch oven, and it will take good care of you.

Cast Iron: Technically cast iron is a material, not a product, and you can get many of the aforementioned products in the material of cast iron. But what we really want to call out here is the cast iron skillet. The cast-iron skillet is, again, for cooking enthusiasts. But its use is so versatile and effective that it can turn even a nuanced cook into an enthusiast

STOVE

Deep Casserole Dish: Casseroles are an art form, but this type of dish will certainly be used for many, many things. Think lasagnas, enchiladas, brownies — these things work overtime. You’ll want a large rectangular one for big dishes, and a smaller squared one for desserts like brownies and rice crispies. Plus, different dish sizes ask for different cooking times, so you’ll want a large and a small on hand to deal with those recipe scenarios!

Cookie Sheet: While these are most commonly used for cookies, you also use these sheets to roast veggies, whip up one-pan dinners and a whole slew of recipes can come from these sheet pans. You can also get them in varied sizes for portion control while cooking.

Muffin Tin: This is one of those things that you only need if you plan on cooking cupcakes, muffins and certain types of cookies. If you don’t cook any of those, it’s not a NEED. But, muffin tins are not too expensive and they’re pretty handy to have on hand for the time when you do decide you want to make cupcakes. :)

Spring Form Pan: While making a cheesecake may not be in your weekly rotation, spring form pans are surprisingly handy! You can wait on this investment, but for any round form of baking (like cakes and cheesecakes) you’re definitely going to want to get one of these.

Pizza Pan: Are you a frozen pizza connoisseur? You may want to look into a pizza pan! While you can set your pizza directly on the grates of an oven, you get a better crust cook and it’s a lot cleaner when you have a tray. Plus, it prevents all the crumbs and cheese drippings from dirtying up your oven.

SERVE WEAR

First things first, when it comes to serve wear the first quantity is important! The traditional recommendation for entertaining is to have a full set of 12 on hand for whenever your guests pop in for dinner. If that seems ludacris,  just take inventory of your everyday needs and weigh them with your entertaining needs. If you’re a family of 2 who sometimes have their friends over, 6 might be all you need. If you’re a family of 4 and your extended family of 8 likes to come over for dinner, well then you’ll want to make sure everyone has a plate!

Dinner Plates: These are a given! You gotta eat somewhere. It’s nice but not ABSOLUTELY necessary when you’re starting out to have a formal set and an everyday set of dinner plates. And if you really want to get fancy with it, seasonal sets of dishware are totally acceptable — like hello Christmas plates are the best. The idea of a formal dinner set is to

For your everyday set of dishes, you’ll want to make sure they’re dishwasher safe, durable and pretty versatile. Some of the nicer sets are not dishwasher safe, so be sure to check on that before making an all-out purchase.

Salad Plates: Truth be told, there are varying levels of sizes and plates and locations of where to place them. It’s super confusing. But what we’re really saying here is that you need a size smaller plate. A “salad plate” is slightly smaller than a dinner plate, and can be used for things like desserts, appetizer plates, your rolls, and yes — salad. There are actually specific plates for all of the aforementioned courses, but while you’re building out your serve wear collection keep in mind you’re going to want to match your dinner plates so plan accordingly!

Water Glasses: Also called tumblers, these are everyday glasses that hold things like water, tea, sodas and juices. Simple and sturdy is best here since you’ll be using them pretty much every day!

Wine Glasses: Ok here’s where you can get REALLY complicated. Having the proper wine glass per type of wine is considered a level of sophistication that is work aspiring to, but that all starts with knowing what kind of wine you like. If you’re the kind of person that likes a good rose with pretty much anything are rarely vary off of that path — then you only need one type of wine glass. If, however, you like to pair a good earthy red with steak and a crisp white with seafood, then investing in the proper wine glass is totally worth it.

Coffee Mugs: While these are frequently a collecting opportunity, if you like to entertain it’s really nice to have a matching or coordinating set of coffee mugs. But you can totally get by for a long, long time with just your favorite extra-large mug ready at hand.

GADGETS

Peelers: If you frequently cook root vegetables, a peeler is a must. You can actually peel using a knife, and some people actually find it easier to do that. But even so, it’s not a heavy investment and it’s good to have one on hand for when Thanksgiving suddenly rolls around and you’ve got a load of potatoes to peel,

Blenders: There are a whole SLEW of options in this category.

There are upright blenders that are good for large quantities and heavy-duty work. These typically allow for various settings like puree, smoothie and such…but unless you really know what you’re doing you’re just going to hit high speed and hope everything ends up together.

There are personal-sized “bullet” blenders that are more compact but SURPRISINGLY really effective.

If you’re looking to “chop” and blend more than purify, then a food processor is what you’re going to want.

And if you are in the business of making creamy soups, a handheld immersion blender is the only way to go.

Slicers: Disclaimer — a knife can also do this. But, if you’re wanting uniform cuts you can look at things like mandolins or food processors.

Spiralizers: Zoodles are all the rage right now, and while yes you CAN get pre-made serving for $4.50, you can also buy an $.84 cent zucchini and spiralize it yourself. There are manual and “crank” versions and the one you choose will probably just depend on budget and how frequently you’re going to need to use it!

Mixer: There are two mixe options — standing and handheld. The standing mixer is, quite honestly, a beautiful kitchen accessory. It’s super pricy but it’s pretty gorgeous. The handheld mixer is much less expensive and equally as effective. But if you’re a big-time baker, you’ll want to look into a standing mixer. Some recipes call for you to whip or mix things for up to like 5 minutes, and if you’re frequently baking these types of recipes then standing mixers are pretty helpful.

Food Processor: We pulled food processors out on their own because they’re so versatile. The food processer can do everything from kneading bread dough, pulsing + blending salsa, pureeing sauces, slicing veggies and grating cheese. If you splurge on one tool, this is a good option because of or versatile it is.

Coffee Machines: Like the wine glasses, choosing this appliance really depends on your level of enthusiasm for the liquid. Most people do perfectly well with pot coffee that makes bulk batches. Keurig’s make really good personal-sized coffee. Nespresso is great to have if you’re an espresso enthusiast but you don’t want to use a full-on espresso machine. A pour-over is deemed to be the creme-de-la-creme of true coffee consumption. A french press is surprisingly easy to use and is arguably the prettiest of the options, and for both the french press and the pour-over you’re going to need a teapot to boil up water. As we write this all out we realize this bullet point all on its own merits an entire blog post so we’ll be back.

Slow Cookers: A crockpot or a pressure cooker are great tools to have on hand when you like to do “one and done” dinners. These two cooking methods allow you to dump everything in one container, let it simmer and serve it up with ease. If you’re a beginner chef but looking for good flavors, you should look into these!

These basic kitchen tools will get you through most any recipe, so you can start off your kitchen cooking career off on the right foot. Happy cooking!

The Most Stunning Outdoor Ceremony With Views Of The Rocky Mountains

The beauty of this wedding rivals that of the Rocky Mountains which served as the backdrop for the ceremony.  Calluna Events planned a day filled with carefully curated details, and the floral design by Cori Cook Floral Design is not to be missed.  Alp & Isle captured every magical moment perfectly.  You can fall in love with all the lovely inside the full gallery.

From Calluna EventsMeghan and Blair’s wedding weekend at Devil’s Thumb Ranch was truly one that we will cherish in our hearts evermore! With the majority of their guests and family traveling in from New York and New Orleans, Meghan and Blair’s families hosted a weekend full of activities and celebrations. The weekend kicked off with rehearsal dinner in the Grotto with their nearest and dearest followed by s’mores and stargazing led by an expert who pointed out constellations and shared insights with all who attended. The next day was full of western flair as the groom and groomsmen went ziplining and the bride and bridesmaids went horseback riding together. In the evening, everyone gathered in their best western dress for an incredible BBQ welcome dinner with darling beverage burros, fun games, and delicious food. And soon it was wedding day!

Meghan and Blair said I do in the most stunning of outdoor ceremonies with views of the Rocky Mountains setting the tone and a garden of gorgeous florals by Cori Cook Floral Design surrounding them as they shared their vows. Guests then made their way to cocktail hour where they sipped on spicy margaritas named after their pup Harley and enjoyed each other’s company at the lounges adorned with leather sofas + custom-made kilim accent pillows. Soon they found their seats at the ‘Where in NOLA Will You Be?’ escort wall designed by Scarlet Gilia Creative, a nod to the very place our darling duo first locked eyes at Tulane University and all the special places so dear to their hearts. Guests walked into High Lonesome Barn for reception and were greeted by the ever-so-amazing Jordan Kahn Orchestra playing the couple’s favorite tunes.

The space was dressed to the nines with soft drapery swagged from high ceilings adorned with greenery and pretty pendants adding that extra glow to the room with a mix of warm wood tables and rounds. Each table was brimming with flowers galore and elegant linens and dinnerware with pops of deep blue in the glassware and napkins and menus beautifully hand calligraphed by the bride’s Aunt. Guests indulged in a decadent meal by Devil’s Thumb Ranch and then hit the dance floor for a night full of dancing and fun! At last, it came time for the final song and Jordan Kahn Orchestra assembled in a second line followed by the bride and groom with their umbrellas as they led everyone to the after party to the tune of New York, New York with handkerchiefs swinging in the air and guests accessorized with Mardi Gras beads as another nod to their forever love for NOLA! We’re so very honored that we were part of Meghan and Blair’s celebration and always grateful for our team of vendors who helped bring all the pretty to their day!

Home Blogger Almafied’s Globally Inspired but Classically Styled Space

Hoping to brighten up your Monday, we have SUCH a good home tour today! The incredibly chic Alma Arietta from Almafied is here, opening up her sunny California doors and sharing some insider tips on what it means to design thoughtfully and without stress. I’ve been a wee bit obsessed with her organic meets global aesthetic for a while now and am always inspired in the way that she beautifully mixes chain store finds with one of a kind moments. It’s all goodness and there is SO much more on her blog and on her gorg insta account too.

When we bought our 70’s ranch styled home here in the Bay Area 2 years ago, we knew there was a lot of work to be done but we loved that the home was in the same community as our home church and loved the neighborhood so we sold our last home and got to work!

How would you describe your design style?

I’d say my design style might be best described as California casual modern, embracing neutrals and expressing my love for simple+ casual+ fresh spaces! Being a neutrals lover, I find adding in texture and layering helps keep things interesting!

I also love a good trend, and love bringing them in through simple and more affordable pieces like a blanket, a bench, pillows, etc. That way, if I don’t love it for very long, I won’t feel bad to filter it out!

Our living room is the perfect example of my style mash-up – classic neutrals, dressed with tons of texture. A combination of big box items and flea market finds. We went with a global inspired theme for our main room (you can see ALL of the details and resources right here).

Our living room has gone through more than one design iteration. When we first moved in to our home, I wanted to feel the space out before deciding where we would take the design. I truly believe that you should let the location and structure of a house have some say on where you take the overall design.

The one thing that really spoke to me about this house, was the humble ranch style, clean and simple in structure, ceilings low at 8-9 ft tall all around. With the simple elements the house already offered, along with the neutral white walls, I knew I could give it personality with accent wall treatments, fun and interesting lighting, going bold but still warm with mainly brass finishes, and adding textural elements throughout.

How do you express your style through your design aesthetic?

The way I express my personal style, whether it’s the kitchen or a small little office, is by incorporating each space with touches of natural elements – wood finishes paired with organic but refined details. By staying true to this approach in each room, we’ve woven a sense of consistency through the spaces that makes our home feel so much more intentional.

What do you do when you just know a space needs a little extra love but you don’t have the budget?

Living in California, it’s only right to have some sort of greenery around year round, but especially in summer. That said, I prefer to not spend that much and just let the touch of nature speak for itself with a pretty glass vase. A little dose of green always makes things more beautiful.

Another easy move…baskets. I love a neutral, modern yet inviting space but the way I try to keep it fun and youthful is by adding modern textiles and textures. One of my favorite textural object would have to be baskets. Baskets easily add natural storage and interest!

Any great big box stores that you love?

Yes! TJMaxx, Homegoods Anthropologie, Target, Ikea are some of my go tos for places I know I will find something I like!

What space in your home do you love the most?

Well, truthfully, I love all of it. But I’m a little partial to the way that our closet turned home office came out.  I don’t know about you, but for the every day mom who needs an easy access work space, but still needs to be with the kids or at least be nearby.

We could have used an entire room as an office (after some careful reshuffling), but we also needed a space for the kids to hangout – so the idea of transforming the closet into an office nook was born. My husband and I are both really pleased and so glad we did this! The kids love it also!

Any designers that you particularly love or find inspiration from?

I definitely look to Studio McGee, Amber Interior but also find so much inspiration on Instagram and get so much ideas from Chris Loves Julia, Eye For Pretty and House Seven Design! I could go on!

All of your spaces seem to have this same airy California vibe…laid back, while still being impeccable and thoughtfully designed. Can you talk a little bit about your design process?

To me, a new couch cover is like a blank canvas, pillows and throws are the art mediums and the different patterns and textures are like the different painting techniques. Sounds silly but it’s true. I look at every room as a chance to be creative, to design a space that is functional and yet beautiful and I give myself permission to take my time and to make changes when things need a little refresh.

Now we know you love a good neutral, but do you have any tips for sprinkling your home with pops of color?

My sweet little girl’s room is full of color! But despite her ask of having pink on the walls, we instead embraced color in other ways with accents pieces. And her toys bursting from every basket will add the perfect amount of color anyway. It’s fun and playful like our big girl and easy to switch back to neutrals if that is what she wants to do as she gets older! So if you are in need of a little color, just throw some inexpensive pillows, blankets or artwork in the mix and you’ll get that look without a total commitment.

What has been your biggest mistake you’ve made when decorating your home?

Probably my biggest mistake I made while decorating was thinking to go bold with a super large main wall (about 7 years ago) before even trying it on something smaller and the color I went with was yellow! It’s funny because it was totally out of my comfort zone but I went for it! In hind sight I’m glad I did, because I learned, girlfriend don’t be so impulsive! Test it out first if you’re gonna do something that bold!

What To Consider When Determining Your Wedding Floral Design

Florals? For a Spring wedding? (We all know where this is going)… groundbreaking. But what blooms are actually “in season” in Spring? Will they work well with your color palette? What about the venue? When it comes to choosing the right flowers for your Big Day, there are many things you should consider. Time to get out that note pad and listen up, friends! Below, we’re walking you through the most important things to keep in mind when determining your wedding floral design.

Photography by Angela Newton Roy Photography | Floral Design by Wild Green Yonder

Seasonal Availability

Flowers are a living art form, subject to the limitations and miracles of the changing seasons. Seasonality determines so much of what is possible in the floral design process, from types of blooms available, to the overall feeling and mood of seasonally-driven designs. Think of how light and effervescent spring cherry blossoms feel, compared to the golden warmth of fall foliage. When designers speak of seasonality, they are referring to much more than which flowers are available at a given time—they’re interested in the feelings, ideas, and colors associated that season. You know those vibes that just overtake you during pumpkin spice season? That’s exactly what we’re talking about – it goes way beyond what’s just in your coffee cup, to encompass an entire mood.

Venue

When you daydream about your wedding florals, you likely picture them as part of an entire scene. Maybe you imagine a vineyard dinner with olive and rosemary table runners, or instead think of flowers framing the entrance to a grand estate venue. Regardless of the details, your venue and your flowers are very much linked.

Venue will determine the entire scope of your florals: how many arrangements are needed (and at what size), and if you’d like any installations and where, but it will also influence the entire look and feel of the day. Because everything should flow from one element to another, the style of venue and florals should compliment each other, not contrast or compete with one another.

Color Palette

There’s no doubt about it: colors have emotional power. While soft neutrals leave us feeling balanced and light, deep jewel tones give us a sense of warmth and intimacy. Because of this, your wedding color palette will tell guests the overall mood of the day. Florals will not only be guided by that, they’ll simply  bring life to it! Through movement, composition, and texture, floral arrangements add a depth to your palette that cannot be achieved any other way.

Photo by Stephanie Gan Photography | Floral by Laura’s Floras

Keep in mind that floral colors aren’t straightforward – the amount of pinks alone that a floral designer has access to is unreal and unbelievably liberating. For example, a Distant Drums rose is apricot at the center with pale pink edges, but over time it fades to mauve. These kinds of complex (or mature) colors can be used to your advantage, expressing painterly and nuanced palettes.

A Chandelier-Adorned Cliffside Wedding With Dramatic Caldera Views

Today’s stunning cliffside wedding planned by Plus One Event Co.at Rocabella in Santorini is giving major Mamma Mia vibes, and we couldn’t be more obsessed! Lay all your love on the full gallery captured by Two Clicks Photography to find all the destination inspiration you’ll need, including the most epic chandelier-adorned arches at the reception created by Fillo Flower Studio!

From Plus One Event Co.… When Minneapolis wedding planner Samantha got engaged, she knew that she wanted to host a destination wedding. She and her fiancé Daniel sought to plan a unique and memorable celebration with an intimate group of family and friends. Shortly after the proposal, the pair searched all across the world for the right venue. They wanted a destination that spoke for itself with inspiring views, good food, and opportunities for other exceptional experiences during the wedding weekend. This criteria was met by many locations; however, Rocabella, a boutique hotel in Santorini, ended up being the easiest decision they made.

The wedding weekend kicked off with a catamaran cruise for all 50 wedding guests. The couple appreciated this extended opportunity to spend with friends and family prior to the big day. Setting the tone for the celebration to come, the group sailed between beaches and hot springs, enjoying the island views from the water as the sun set over the horizon.

On the wedding day, a forecasted storm threatened their ceremony plans. With the cooperation of their dedicated vendor team, Samantha made the decision that morning to postpone the entire event by one hour. Her bridal stylist, Julia, helped find a new look that would withstand the humidity and wind, and Samantha was so grateful for the ability to make some last-minute changes.

With the help of a close friend at Annika Bridal, Samantha found the perfect Ines di Santo gown from the designer’s Goddess Collection. This dynamic dress was simple and timeless, yet also modern and fun at the same time. Paired with satin pointed-toe pumps and minimalist pearl jewelry, the bride was incredibly excited to reveal her wedding look for the first time to her dad, bridal party, and of course, Daniel.

After the first looks, the bride and groom along with their photo and video team set off for the town of Oia for a mini adventure session. Usually crowded with tourists, they took advantage of the less than ideal weather to capture some memories at this quintessential Santorini location. This was one of their favorite parts of the day, and turned out to be a major silver lining.

Rocabella’s simple setting provided a blank canvas that could adopt almost any style. Drawing inspiration from Santorini’s iconic sunsets, Samantha and Daniel designed a wedding that conveyed modern elegance. A chandelier installation above Rocabella’s infinity pool set the stage for an intimate and emotional ceremony. In dramatic fashion, while the wedding partly lined up for the processional, the sun peaked out from the sky. Their cliffside venue was fully illuminated as an acoustic version of Coldplay’s yellow guided them down the aisle.

Guests enjoyed cocktails as the sun set over the caldera, while the couple took a ride in a 1957 Porsche Speedster. After their vendor team completed finishing touches on the reception setup, guests grabbed their custom luggage tag to find their seat for dinner. Celebrating greek culture, Samantha and Daniel treated guests to a 5 course meal, which highlighted some familiar and some new greek dishes. Floral adorned chandeliers provided ambiance to this special meal and swayed with the wind till the end of the evening.

Guests danced the night away under the canopy of lights until the early hours, capping off a memorable celebration. Samantha and Daniel were extremely grateful and proud of their vendor team for executing the wedding of their dreams. Looking back on these photos bring them back to that special weekend in Santorini, a weekend they will remember forever.

Greek-American Wedding With White Luxury Details in the Heart of Rhodes, Greece

We’re not being dramatic when we say this might be one of our favorite weddings we’ll see all year! Between the fashion (umm hello, those Louboutins?!), the Aegean views, and the gorgeous couple – our jaw is to the floor in awe of every detail. They also just happen to have the most fashionable guest list ever, captured to perfection by Sotiris Tsakanikas with every candid shot. See all the details of this Greek-American affair at the full gallery of inspiration, all planned by Golden Apple Weddings with floral design from Kay Creations!

From Marina F. Hatzidakis of Golden Apple Weddings… On Sunday, July 31st, 2022, Nicholas and Georgia tied the knot! With Greek origins and a love for Greece, the couple decided to get married and knew that their dream wedding would take place in Rhodes, Greece, because of the grand scenic views and the medieval city architecture surrounding this charming island! Both Nicholas and Georgia were born in the United States and studied law.

The day began with the preparations of the bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, and family at the Hotel Elysium. The imposing waterfront five-star luxury resort and spa area are distinguished by its aesthetics, elegant décor, luxury style, and outstanding concierge service.

The beautiful bride is stunned with her custom-made bridal dress and the new Hot Chick Greekaba patent leather pumps by Christian Louboutin as her wedding shoes, which take you on a mystical journey through Cyclades and Athens. Georgia’s bridal bouquet full of white peonies was the ultimate wedding day accessory. During the reception, Georgia changed into her second pair of sandals by Christian Louboutin, the “Sandale Du Désert 100 satin sandals,” lavishly decorated with bows around the ankle, loubi eye prints, and red bottom soles.

For the ceremony, the couple traveled separately with their families from the Elysium hotel to the Evangelismos church in a vintage British luxury automobile of superior performance and unmatched comfort, a white and gray antique Rolls-Royce. As they arrived at the church, the crowd let out “Woah,” “Ouu,” and “Ahh.” This set the tone for the ultimate luxurious wedding vision the couple wanted for their memorable, once-in-a-lifetime event!

The Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony was at Evangelismos Church. This church is located next to Mandraki Harbor in Rhodes City and was built during the Italian occupation in 1925 and is known for its Gothic architecture, decorated with interior Byzantine murals.

After the church, the reception followed to Kallithea Springs, a property of water springs, swerving pathways, pebble-stone mosaics, and palm trees, giving it the touch of a tropical mystery in a natural cave overlooking the Aegean Sea. Kallithea Springs is a gorgeous venue not only for its history but also for its romantic scenery and serene atmosphere.

The wedding color and inspiration were a white luxury. The couple wanted to mix a tone of lavish luxury with the simplicity of white and a touch of green to keep the focus on the grand architecture and breathtaking nature of the venue.

The decorations and set-up included a combination of round and long tables, hanging crystal chandeliers, a garland of white florals for the main table, greenery, and art de la table rentals such as gold chargers, cutleries, crystal glasses, and sage table napkins. A grand greenery glam-inspired wall was a table chart that guided the guests to their table. The wedding florals and decor was created by a floral design company Kay Creations. The precious favors to the guests were placed individually on the table in a unique personalized box that had a ceramic miniature plate designed with the symbol of Rhodes. Inspiration for the favor came from the couple, with the intent of giving every honored guest a memorable keepsake that they can cherish forever. The creative ceramic had matching colors of the wedding and was created by a local potter.

The welcome drinks and cocktails were served at the beginning of the reception to the 400 honored guests. This bar setup included two external bars at the venue decorated with the wedding theme of luxury white.

Our newlyweds’ favorite moment of their wedding was the fireworks. This happened during the cake cutting, which added a touch of magic. The scrumptious cake was a three-tiered, all-white masterpiece finished with sugar roses.

The couple was excited to work graciously with wedding photographer Sotiris Tsakanikas and wedding videographer company Bowtie, who captured their moments to perfection and were stunned by the top-notch production of Golden Apple Weddings and Team.

We wish them a beautiful life journey together, and it was a pleasure to meet and experience the bonding of two friendly and warm-hearted families! Cheers, or should I say OPA!

This Is the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year Done Oh So Right!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Monica and Connor chose vibrant colors for their day. They wanted their wedding day to have a “wow” factor for their guests. Their wedding was a happy occasion and the goal was for the bright colors to reflect those feelings. The main wedding colors were Magenta, which is Pantone’s Color of 2023, and fuchsia. Monica and her mom share a love for magenta so they thought it was only fitting to add in lots of Magenta! Along with magenta and fuchsia, there were many hues of pinks and purples!

Monica and Connor were married at The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion in Mechanicsburg, PA on a late summer afternoon. The original plan for their wedding was to host it at the bride’s home but with The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion– a new local venue on the horizon, they realized that it checked all of the boxes for them, and then some. The Victorian mansion, built in 1891, is full of character and has many rooms to entertain guests. The elegance and elevated aesthetic of Ashcombes, a classic timeless style, surrounded by luxury, with a touch of Gatsby was what drew the couple to this new venue. To add to the unique beauty of The Historic Ashcombes, the couple added an abundance of florals, textures, layers, and colors. The beautiful orchids displayed in the bouquets and ceremony backdrop were a favorite of the mother of the bride. The floral installations and tablescapes created by the incredible Petals with Style surely made an unforgettable statement! From top to bottom, the large ceiling installations, lighting details, staging, mix of tables for reception seating, layered table details, accents, and menus were all dripping in detail. The bride and groom had an outfit change for the reception, the bride’s sparkling gown to match the groom’s glittering suit jacket was a fun touch to set the tone of the evening. The night ended with the band escorting the guests out of the venue and cold sparklers to send off the newlyweds! It was a day to remember!

The bride’s gown was Kitty Chen Couture. With an outdoor ceremony on a warm late summer day, Monica wanted a dress that she was comfortable in but also elegant to complement the black tie affair. The dress gave her princess vibes without the heavy ballroom feel. And the leaf appliqués cascading down the dress reminded her of the outdoors and all of the adventures that she and her groom, Connor, have shared.

The bridesmaids wore Vera Wang in Magenta. The dress colors were chosen first and really confirmed the color palette for the day. The bride had her mom wear the same color as her bridesmaids. She originally wanted her mom to be the matron of honor but ultimately decided that it was more important for her parents to be able to share the day together.

A custom menu based on the couple’s favorite places to travel and dine was created by the world-renowned and recognized Chef Jay of JDK. The florals were obviously a huge part of their day. The bride and her mother share a love for bright colors so Magenta and Fuchsia was a bold and fun choice for the wedding day. They requested lots of floral layers on the tablescape and for the reception space to look full, luscious, formal and grand, yet inviting and intimate.

The wedding cake was a beautiful four-tiered cake with simple white roses. They kept is clean and elegant against the abundance of color that was the reception space.

The ceremony was sweet and short. The bride’s father walked her down the aisle as the groom shed a tear. Their grandfather married them and they shared their own personal vows with each other.

The Montana Mountains Were The Perfect Backdrop For This Florist’s Intimate Wedding

The majestic mountains of Montana made for the most beautiful of backdrops for this florist’s wedding.  Our bride and designer tumbleweed floral design’s vision came to life exquisitely, and Mum’s Flowers filled the day with fantastic blooms that rivaled the beauty of the scenery.  Every magical moment was elegantly captured in timeless imagery by Jeremiah and Rachel Photography.  You can get lost in all the lovely inside the full gallery.

From Be Inspired PRWhen bride Kaylia, a wedding florist, started designing her wedding to Scott, she knew exactly what she wanted her day to look like. The Montana mountains made for the ideal ceremony backdrop, accented by low floral arrangements to highlight the aisle-flanking low bench seating for their closest family and friends.

A modern boho aesthetic permeated the design choices, with details like mustard tones and sophisticated paper goods. At their intimate dinner party reception, guests sat under alternating rattan chandeliers and hanging florals.

A classic creamy neutral-toned color palette was spiced up with a variety of tones and textures, and amber glowing votives added cozy warmth to the tablescape. The pair’s fun personality came into play with a funfetti cake and cannolis for a sweet treat to end the perfect evening!

A Summer Winery Wedding Full of Laid-Back Elegance

This Cape May wedding looks like a dream come true! Weddings Down the Shore coordinated the eye-catching day, and Betinas filled it with lush and romantic blooms that are sure to put a smile on your face. Magdalena Studios artfully captured the love and joy of the day in beautiful imagery.  You can see it all inside the full gallery.

From Magdalena StudiosLandry and Jessie are “college sweethearts” and met in a bar in downtown Clemson, South Carolina. Landry is originally from Cameroon and moved to the United States in high school. He attended Clemson University on a basketball scholarship where Jessie was a transfer student, so it felt like destiny! After being together for 4 years (3 of them long-distance), Jessie spent the following 3 years abroad with Landry, where the two lived in Germany, Serbia, and Spain. During a brief hiatus in basketball due to the COVID pandemic, Jessie and Landry had the very rare chance to both come home to the States. Landry took this as the perfect opportunity to pop the question and be able to celebrate with family and friends! We have been traveling the world together for Landry’s professional basketball career. Together, we’ve lived in Germany, Serbia, Spain, and now South Korea! We have a mini French bulldog, Stormy, who we are obsessed with! Although we are polar opposites in almost every way, we can agree that quality time together and with family matters most.

Landry and Jessie have family all over the globe, so they knew choosing a wedding location would be difficult. In October of 2020, Landry and Jessie had their final date before getting engaged at Willow Creek Winery in Cape May, New Jersey. After getting engaged, it felt like the perfect place. Jessie always dreamed of waking up at her parents’ shore house and getting ready there with her girlfriends, so it really was a dream come true. “We wanted a rustic and warm feel, an outdoor ceremony, and autumn colors (even though it was taking place in July!) and Willow Creek Winery’s entire vibe was just that,” Jessie said. Jessie took the lead on planning when it came to colors, details, and flowers. Her vision was neutral colors with a pop of toffee and burnt orange to create a rustic feel. The wedding day started with Jessie and Landry getting ready in farm-house suites on the winery grounds before making their way to the gardens for their first look. The lush greenery was a beautiful backdrop for portraits. Guests were welcomed into the ceremony space with raffia fans and cold water to keep them cool on this Summer day. Jessie and Landry had the biggest smiles on their faces and after they said “I do,” is was time to party! The reception space was adorned with rustic decor that included goblets, farm tables, taper candles, and woven chargers to tie in to the vibe. Something Vintage totally nailed the aesthetic! The large reception space at Willow Creek Winery allowed space for lounges and a photo booth. Both provided guests with a fun area to hang out in when they were not dancing. The candlelit ballroom felt cozy and romantic. A dessert bar was complete with cookies, macaroons, cakes, and donuts. The setup was a work of art! During the party, Jessie & Landry changed into vibrant, traditional African attire that honored Landry’s Cameroon roots.

From the bride… The Jersey Shore wedding planning/vendor community was amazing. It truly felt as though vendors were recommending other vendors they’ve worked well with so creating a team came together naturally. Overall, we wanted the day to be tons of fun and feel casual. People were traveling so far and with the outdoor ceremony, we were not interested in a formal evening. However, with the reception hall, decor, and all of the planning put in, the night was truly elegant and picturesque. Everyone seemed so comfortable and ready to party! Choosing to have That Rad Booth photo booth, and jumping into countless photos with family and friends was seriously one of the most fun parts of the night! Changing into traditional African attire at the end of our reception was a blast. What made it even more special was that Landry’s mother brought them with her all the way from Cameroon! We didn’t necessarily care for a huge traditional wedding cake. One of the highlights of our day was definitely our farm table dessert assortment. That was one for the books! We had Chick-fil-a to end the night, because who doesn’t love Chick-fil-a? We feel like it was executed perfectly. We would not have had it any other way!

My biggest advice to a couple getting married would be to make sure every decision you are making is what you BOTH want, not what anyone else wants. At the end of the day, it is about the bride and groom and the day they envisioned together. The wants and needs of each partner should be top priority. When planning a wedding, every single person will tell you “you won’t worry about that on the big day” or “you seriously will not even notice those small details” and being a perfectionist, I didn’t believe them, but it’s 100% true. Create a list of your big, must-have items or ideas and stick to it. I PROMISE the smaller details will fall into place and if they don’t, you absolutely will not notice. The day will be perfect.

We went to Miami, Florida for our honeymoon. With all of the traveling going on in our life, we wanted something close by. We stayed at The Miami Beach EDITION and we would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Miami getaway. It has everything you need right there (pools, beach, bars, restaurants), but is still a little north of the South Beach chaos. A highlight of our trip was using the resort’s electric bikes each morning to get breakfast in South Beach. It was the perfect getaway to decompress and relax post-wedding before moving again.

Summer Wedding in Tuscany at the Iconic La Foce

As the Spring 2023 wedding season quickly approaches  – more and more we’re seeing the gorgeous gardens of La Foce grace our feeds. This recognizable villa is slowly becoming one of our favorite destination locations in Europe… and with just one look at today’s féte planned by Weddings in Tuscany by Chiara Sernesi, it’s so easy to see why. Rachel and Pete tied the knot in an intimate ceremony beneath the towering cyprus trees on the villa grounds. Later, welcomed by a limencello escort display, guests dined al fresco under a canopy of string lights at the courtyard reception! See every last detail of this Italian summer love story at the full gallery of inspiration, all taken by Stepan Vrzala Photography!

From Chiara at Weddings in Tuscany… A whole year of intense emailing had gone by when we first met with Rachel and Pete, upon their arrival in Italy from California. We met the morning before their wedding, with everything already planned during the year, and the couple staying in Tuscany just a few days, we wanted to make the most of the happiest day of their life! We had recommended the historical Villa La Foce unesco world heritage site resting on a Tuscan hill, in the stunning valdorcia area the ideal place to frame their romantic wedding.

All around the tiny villages vineyards and olive groves. The beauty of the Tuscan landscape is simply too great for words, Throughout Tuscany, stunning landscapes, like those to be seen from the Villa, are graced by the familiar and charming Cypress tree. We planned for them and their 70 guests 3 days of celebration, starting with the welcome dinner in Pienza, in a restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the hills, to a pool brunch party the day after in a beautiful farmhouse, overlooking the crete senesi hills.

On the wedding day, the ceremony and reception took place in the beautiful gardens of villa La Foce. The wow moment was the ceremony entrance, Rachel was accompanied by her mom and dad from the balcony at the top of the monumental, when they started descending the long stairway of the magnificent Villa, at the sound of the graceful music. Rachel loved blue and yellow as colours with this in mind, we created the palette. It’s our job as planners /designers to take this inspiration and translate it into an original design. Our goal is to reflect our client’s interpretation of beauty so that their event is a true reflection of them.

The flowers style was loose, organic, and garden-inspired. The florists interpreted the wishes of the bride very well, Bright yellow flowers look so beautiful alongside cream or white roses, including some green tones with foliage for a really fresh look! We designed each details, from the escort card display in navy with the yellow limoncello bottles to tablecloths / runners / napkins with hints of navy on each table. The very talented photographer Stepan Vrzala captured beautifully every moment of the day, from start to finish Capturing a memory that will last a lifetime and allow for all of those moments to be relived in one place.
