From Greg Blomberg PhotographyKatie and Daniel were co- bible study leaders who wanted a traditional wedding that expressed their faith and a modern reception that expressed their funky personalities. They chose the classic and picture perfect Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas for their ceremony, officiated by Daniel’s father. The wildly popular and upscale restaurant, Stephan Pyles was the location for the reception, owned by highly acclaimed chef Stephan Pyles. A place not typically used for wedding receptions but instead widely well known for its incredible food and atmosphere, Katie thought it would be unique and perfect for her reception.

Bows and Arrows provided gorgeous and interesting flower arrangements and decor for both the ceremony and reception. Two completely different locales and themes– a very traditional church with columns in the front that is reminiscent of a southern plantation and a modern, clean lined, contemporary restaurant somehow seemed to fit perfectly together thanks to the flowers and decor– that were appropriate for both venues, yet unique and different at both places.

Puerto Vallarta Wedding by Elizabeth Lloyd Photographer

Sweet details can be found in every corner of this beautiful Puerto Vallarta wedding by Elizabeth Lloyd Photographer.  And most of them created by the two stunning brides from the invitations to the napkin rings.  Each element is easy enough to transport to a magical destination like Mexico but add so much charm and personality to this rustic, DIY affair.  See all the lovely creations in the full gallery!

From Elizabeth Lloyd PhotographerAs soon as I met with Lorena and Dustyn in Manhattan to discuss their wedding in Puerto Vallarta, I knew it was going to be a special, creative, personalized wedding and a blast to photograph. I could not have imagined the amount of work that they were to embark on to transform their oceanfront villa into a charming, rustic affair filled with beautiful touches.

From Dustyn…We live in New York City but Lorena is from Argentina, so after some research we chose to have our wedding celebration half way between these locations in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  For several months leading up to our special day we spent weekends making everything we could reasonably make for a destination wedding, from our own invitations to the napkin rings.  We even bought a sewing machine and Lorena funneled her creative energy and newly discovered DIY spirit to make things including customized pillow covers for the cocktail area and sashes for the chairs.

Then after a few days in Puerto Vallarta with our family, more friends and family joined us for a wedding celebration that I’m sure no one will forget.  It started with a ceremony on the beach, where we followed the cutest ring bearer and flower boys you’ll ever see down the aisle to a custom made wooden canopy.  We failed in holding back tears while we recited our vows and watched our wedding rings as they were passed around and blessed by family and friends before making their way to our fingers.

After a magical first kiss as a married couple, we returned across the street to our gorgeous classic Mexican hacienda and were welcomed with a 10 man mariachi band, freely flowing cocktails, and amazing aappetizers.  A DJ took over as we were seated for dinner, and my brother gave a heartfelt toast as the sun set behind him out over the water.  As darkness came, the fire-dancers we hired surprised even us with their drumming, dancing, and fire-wielding skills.  Later we danced to Eva Cassidy’s Songbird, then had friends and family join us when Smashmouth’s cover of “I’m a Believer” came on the speakers.  From our first steps down the aisle, to jumping into the pool late that night under the stars with our guests, the smiles never left our faces.  Thousands more words are captured in the pictures from our amazing photographer who was able to distill these magical moments into works of art we get to keep forever.  I could not have imagined a more amazing way to celebrate our marriage and lifelong commitment to each other!

The Cator Woolford Gardens Wedding by The Studio B Photography

This adorable couple didn’t let the threat of rain or a chill in the air ruin their beautiful, outdoor wedding. The pops of bright yellow flowers courtesy of Le Bonne Fleur certainly brightened their already happy and upbeat day. The Studio B Photography captured all the pretty DIY details and there’s so much more in the full gallery. Click here to see it all!

From The Studio B PhotographyEvery now and then a weather miracle occurs on a wedding day. Such was the case for Shannon and Eric’s big day, which was held entirely outdoors at the stunning Cator Woolford Gardens in Atlanta. As long as the extended forecast had been available for the wedding day, it called for rain. There was a backup option in case of rain, but the beautiful grounds of the garden were precisely what made Shannon fall in love with the venue, and it would be sad to give that up. Enter the miracle.

It rained the day before the wedding, and then the clouds disappeared. They left behind a slight chill in the air, the perfect weather for an autumn wedding which was highlighted by the lovely changing colors on the trees. Shannon and Eric opted to see each other before the ceremony, allowing them to have some time together to share their excitement, as well as have time for portraits of just the two of them.

The ceremony was lovely, and on their way back up the aisle after getting married, Eric scooped up his new wife and carried her across the lawn. Shannon is a graduate of The University of Florida and showed her team spirit with her blue and orange garter and his and her coozies. The chilly weather made the reception atmosphere cozier, with guests snuggled up in blankets that the bride and groom had provided for them. The couple surprised their friends and family with a choreographed first dance that the whole bridal party participated in. The happy couple exited through a line of guests blowing bubbles.

Martha’s Vineyard Wedding by Briana Moore Photography

Don’t you just love Mondays?!?  Two days away from all of the pretty, pretty inspiration and I simply can.not.wait to jump right in to all of this lovely first thing in the AM.  And today’s darling affair by Briana Moore Photography was definitely worth the wait… with a breathtaking Martha’s Vineyard setting, a fabulous tented reception and one uber-stunning bride and groom, this elegant backyard soiree has completely taken my breath away.  Trust me, you don’t want to miss a moment… Join me in the gallery for even more!

From Briana Moore Photography This was a gorgeous destination wedding on Martha’s Vineyard! Brendan’s family has spent a lot of time on the Vineyard, though he and Laurie currently live in Louisiana. They had guests from all over the country. I loved the bridesmaid dresses, all different styles in pewter, and every lady had some pop of orange on.

There was a lot that was special about this wedding. Laurie’s family is quite musical. Her father & sister sang during the ceremony, and Laurie surprised her new husband during the reception by joining the wedding band and singing Mercy (by Duffy) to Brendan in front of all of their friends & family. The band was AMAZING, I’m a total convert to wedding bands if they could all be this good.

The bride wore a family heirloom bracelet for jewelry, and a tiara (just as her mother did when she got married). This group danced more than any I have ever seen! By the end of the night, my face hurt from smiling. This wedding was so special.

San Jose Wedding Inspiration from Lani Elizabeth + Shannon Cline

You’re going to flip this morning, LBBers. I’ve got some San Jose wedding inspiration that is about to hit your eyeballs, and it is absolutely phenomenal. The real life couple was all dolled up for a second time in a modern day Marie Antoinette soiree, set with amazing vintage finds juxtaposed with contemporary pieces. The event design and florals were courtesy of Lani Elizabeth Fine Designs in Flowers & Events, who were inspired by the gorgeous glove molds – and instantly started imaging their stunning flowers molded around this element. Captured wonderfully by Shannon Cline Photography, this shoot is so insane, I can’t stop frantically rushing through the gallery over and over! I’m sure we’re bound to meet up in there pretty soon.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/24791484 601 338]

From Lani Elizabeth Fine Designs in Flowers & Events … As floral designers, there is nothing more rewarding than working on something new and exciting that’s a vision all our own. So for this shoot we wanted to do something fun and funky with a vintage/industrial edge to it, yet not too over the top! Our goal was to create something do-able for a regular bride that wanted to think outside the box. So we called up one of our gorgeous past brides and her new husband and asked them to join us in the shoot. Using her own dress with a fashioned turquoise sash and some of Lani’s jewelry collection, we transformed her into a “modern Marie Antoinette” with dramatic eyes and big hair (thanks to the talented Makeup Dolls) and even bigger flowers.

Perusing the antique/second hand stores for inspiration led us to this super hip store, Frank, which is filled to the brim with all sorts of vintage finds and one-of-a-kind objects. We fell in love with the vintage aluminum glove molds and thought how perfect the “hands” would be holding bouquets. We found out that the store owner rents out her unique finds for events, so you don’t have to break the bank to have a truly unique look for your wedding. We also had to have these reflective glass orbs that you’ll see in many photos – so cool.

We wanted to ensure that our shoot location was an actual wedding venue, and the San Jose Museum of Art quickly came to mind. With it’s amazing backdrop of art and the gorgeous chandeliers by famed glass artist Dale Chihuly, any bride would be thrilled with the limitless possibilities for wedding photo backdrops.

Just like the setting of our shoot, the flowers were bright, bold, and dramatic. The shiny lacquer parsons table was dressed with a collection of vintage china Lani and I have been collecting for years. Each dinner plate was a great find on its own, and brought together amidst glistening mercury glass, the old glass orbs, and decadent succulents, they created an eye catching display that married well with the abundance of colorful blooms.

We collaborated with Shannon Cline Photography, who is known for her vivid and sharp photos and modern vibe. We couldn’t be happier with the results! The videographers from Grover Films created a really cool cinematic style wedding film – a highlight is a time lapse of the museum at night with the glimmering downtown skyline. The colorful ombre cake from Margaret’s French Bakery was carefully created from individual mosaic pieces of fondant. We think it looks perfect sitting atop a vintage scarf with the fringe cascading down the table. Loralee Lewis’ vibrant chartreuse invitation suite was just the right amount of vintage glam mixed with modern styling. The fonts alone are drool-worthy! Finally, the couch, table, chairs and glassware courtesy of Hartmann Rentals really made the whole tablescape come together. There’s nothing more chic in our opinion than the clear “Louis Ghost Chairs.” They really give a whole new look to any wedding space. Enjoy!

From the Bride…I always dreamed of getting married in the backyard of the home I grew up in on Long Island and turning it into an enchanted, magical venue.  Unfortunately for me, my parents moved to Florida a few years ago and the home my dream-wedding destination was no longer available.  I had to find a warm, inviting and naturally beautiful setting and fortunately, I came across an estate on Gianna and Company’s web site.  The home was perfect and had everything I had ever dreamed of having for my wedding and more;  including the option of having our ceremony on a beautiful, sprawling lawn with the setting sun and Pacific Ocean as the backdrop.

The ceremony was very romantic – no matter where you looked there was something beautiful to take in: the side of the home is covered with ivy, while another wall is lined with dark, green Ficus trees. Our dinner reception was on a lovely travertine patio overlooking the moon lit ocean.  One of the biggest inspirations for my wedding was the movie, “Father of the Bride”.  This is one of my favorite movies, and I always felt the wedding scene was beyond charming.  I loved all the twinkle lights with the low flowers and candles, which I incorporated into the night’s design.

I have two favorite memories from my wedding.  The first one came during our first dance, when a gorgeous double-rainbow formed in the sky above us (my mother is convinced it was her parents looking down on us). My second favorite memory is everyone dancing together towards the end of the night, celebrating our love, waving lit sparklers in the night sky (we had the wait staff hand them out to the guests on the dance floor). I wanted everyone to dine under the stars surrounded by crystal chandeliers and Fellini lights above them. My dream wedding came true.

Boca Raton Resort & Club Wedding by Jessica Lorren Organic Photography

There is just something so wonderful about a black tie soiree – don’t you agree? Handsome groomsmen lined up looking dapper and elegant maids in long flowing gowns – it’s hard not to feel a bit fancy with such a fabulous dress code. Well, this gorgeous gala by Jessica Lorren Organic Photography will have you feeling fancy after just looking at the pretty images. It’s classic elegance at its finest, and there is even more in the full gallery of images!

From the Bride…We live in New York City, but we’d always dreamed of having our wedding at the Boca Resort, where took a romantic weekend trip a few years ago. From then on, it became one of our favorite places. There is just something magical about the resort. We wanted the style of our wedding to be classic and elegant — see: our black bridesmaid’s dresses and tuxes – but also unstuffy (see: beers under the Banyon trees during our photo session!)

Daniel and I met in college, and we both love live music and a rocking party. One of the best moments for us was when our maid of honor Chrissy’s dad, Pat Cullinan, joined the band to play rhythm guitar on one of our favorite songs, The AllmanBrothers’ “Blue Sky.” Our goal for the reception was to bring a backyard party into the Cathedral Room, with greenery and bunches of Michelle’s favorite flower, the hydrangea. We ended up breaking out boas and maracas and hopping on stage with the band — we wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Nick and I, unbeknownst to each other, both made similar career changes at the same time.  I decided to pursue a Master’s degree and stop teaching high school, while Nick decided to go back to school for electrical engineering after working as a mechanical engineer.  In the meantime (which turned out to be a recession), we both found jobs as bartenders.

I hired Nick as a bartender in the fine dining restaurant I managed in 2007.  We immediately began working together nightly in a small space, only to find we didn’t get along too well at first.  Nick was used to being the bar manager himself and taking orders from no one.  My cute teasing and boisterous personality made him a bit uncomfortable.  He couldn’t tell if I liked him or not.  I was not quite sure what to make of Nick, either.  His southern accent and snotty personality made me think he was conceited.  I couldn’t tell if he liked me or not.  It was very much like the meeting of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice.

Finally, one night after going out for a drink after work, I mentioned my interest in astronomy.  Nick was currently reading a book titled The Elegant Universe and mentioned the subject of the book: M Theory.  I had been looking for someone to talk with about M Theory for years and couldn’t help from engaging in a twenty-minute conversation as we sat in my car outside the restaurant’s parking lot.  After that, we figured things out; we had both been uncomfortable not knowing what the other thought about us because each of us desperately wanted the other person to like them.  I hired Nick as my boyfriend not long after.  Even though the restaurant went out of business, we know how lucky we have been to be an unemployed literature teacher and an unemployed engineer who met at a restaurant that no longer exists.  And the story is still a bit like Pride and Prejudice although now we have come to the marriage!

Our main goal for our wedding was always to create a family-centered, vintage-inspired, and eclectic wedding, which would still be filled with tradition and southern charm.  We drew inspiration from ourselves as a couple.  We bond over literature and philosophy, shared our first kiss in a gazebo—where Nick proposed to me two years later—and we value our family.  As only children, we shared the importance of having friends and family travel to our wedding only to feel important and peaceful.  So, we decided to incorporate a writing theme where books took the place of table numbers, a vintage typewriter stood in for the guestbook, and the beautiful Wimbish House in midtown Atlanta became our own Victorian garden party location. Of course the bridal table was titled Pride and Prejudice.

My mother & I made the Wimbish House feel like our home, which is one of the charming appeals, to me, of having your wedding in a historic home.  We selected pictures, not just of Nick & I, but also of our family and our parents, grandparents, & great-grandparents on their wedding days to remind us of the heritage and tradition to which we belong.  I also carried Nick’s grandmother’s rosary with my bouquet; however, the most personal touch was the groom’s cake.  Nick’s grandfather, Papa Dude, passed away the winter before our wedding, and I wanted to find a surprising way to include his memory.  Our baker, Sweet Sensations, made a groom’s cake featuring Papa Dude’s boat and we placed traditional cake toppers (from Etsy) in the boat instead of on the bride’s cake.  Our fabulous planner, Nicole Fantz, in addition to placing all our handmade objects and pictures, made sure Nick & his father had private time to view the cake before the ceremony.

I always knew I wanted banquet tables at my reception and our food to be served family style.  After going to many wedding with rounds, I felt, and still feel, that banquet table allow more conversation and remove any hard feeling which may surface regarding table seating.  Also, family style service promotes conversation, adds a rustic (perhaps southern) touch, and saves money!  Our caterer, Endive, was only too happy to accommodate this preference, which allowed us to serve two proteins instead of one!  Our love of wine, my love of sparkling water, and my, now maiden, name (Mason) prompted us to create deconstructed arrangements scattered around the tables housed in wine bottles, San Pellegrino and Perrier bottles, and mason jars.  We collected all the glasses and bottles ourselves and our florist, Melanie Pink, filled them with beautiful, delicate, and rustic florals to add to our theme.  The florals helped frame the vignettes of our tables, pictures, and this lovely home.

The most popular place at our wedding was the patio, where we placed a cigar bar and piped out Sinatra tunes. Even during August heat, the guests crowded the patio and we saw the mingling of our two families. Our elderly male guests can’t stop talking about all the girls smoking cigars!  Nick’s father supplied some very nice cigars for the occasion, and after-dinner drinks, like sherry and liqeuers, accompanied the cigar bar.  As bartenders, we felt we needed to invest in a full bar, and since the Wimbish House let’s you bring in your own liquors, we saved hundreds!

My favorite parts of our wedding were the hand-binding during our ceremony, a private stroll for pictures with our photographers Matt & Kate Altmix, a private delivery of appetizers from our planner, laughing with my husband, listening to my father’s speech, dancing with my mother, and leaving our reception in a horse-drawn carriage, which became a special private trip for us to rejoice in our day together amongst the streets of our city, which always seem more quiet and beautiful out of a car, even with congratulatory shouts!

Our day went by so fast and our memories were quite scattered, so we were so pleased to receive our wedding video from our videographers, Three Ring Media.  Now, we will never forget our memories and how much we would have enjoyed being guests at out own wedding!

I am very interested in all kinds of fashion but above all of headgear, Maybe just because I’m used to working with the head shape and how to change a look with a haircut, same goes with a hat or fascinator.

With our experienced seasoned designers, we tailor your wedding to reflect what speaks best to your individuality.

“We believe in creating dreams, entertaining the senses and ensuring that each of our events feel fresh, intimate and unforgettable.”

From We Love PhotoboothsWe Love Photobooths was started four years ago by Ben and Laura of Weddings By Two, who are seriously in love with photo booths. Since then we have done over 400 events and are very experienced with working at all types of venues. We think everyone should have one, or at least one at their wedding!

Our booth is different, and we think better, than other booths.  We have designed and built a mini-studio with beautiful lighting and great backgrounds to choose from.  Guests can take unlimited pictures and get all of the prints instantly on site.  The high quality prints are big enough to put in a frame!  We are always hearing how great the prints are and how unbelievably fun the booth is.  The photo booth often becomes the hit of the party.  People come back over and over, and as the evening progresses, the pictures just get better and better.  As one guest said recently, “The photo booth changed my life forever.”

We are currently offering the SMP audience 5% off for January events.

From Aevum PhotographyAevum began when two friends with a passion for photography and design decided they wanted to shake things up. Disenchanted by what the industry had to offer and disappointed by the way lots of photographers did business, they wrote a manifesto and started a mission to pioneer wedding and portrait photography for a new generation.

We love New York and we love SMP. Come be one of Aevum’s awesome couples at aevumfresh.com.

From Lisa Teso PhotographyTwo creative girls and one problem – Finding a special way to change their last names.

A few months ago, Jennifer Mele, co-owner of Hi, Friend Design in Portland, Ore. found herself in a pickle  – following her wedding in 2009 she still hadn’t found the time to change her name. That night a plot was hatched with a fellow co-worker who was also facing the same predicament. Looking for a meaningful way to officially change their last names and also a reason to throw a fabulous party, the two decided to surprise their husbands with a fun summer ceremony. With the help of friends, family and local event vendors, the Maiden Voyage was born and two unsuspecting husbands had the surprise of the summer as their wives finally took the plunge at a summer backyard ceremony.

A few details to help you follow along…When the husbands returned home from golfing they were met with glasses of their favorite whiskey and outfits for the night ahead. The nautical theme (Maiden Voyage, get it?!) could be seen throughout the event – from the music, to the ceremony, to the yellow/blue color motif. Small detailed touches were everywhere including: Customized wine labels on the wine bottles and mini bottles of champagne, cupcakes baked by Jennifer herself in husbands’ two favorite flavors, black and white photos of the two couples from their wedding days, a photo booth with nautical themed props, Enlarged copies of their new licenses for guests to sign with their well-wishes, the officiant was the same gentleman that married Jennifer to her husband Steve in 2009 – he focused on the meaning of a name and the importance of taking on someone else’s name for your life. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the girls grabbing iPads from their “maids of honor” and officially changing their names on Facebook.

Canada Farm Wedding from LachancePhoto

Our neighbors to the north sure know how to concoct a beautiful love story. We often hear from brides, but when we hear from grooms, we get a little excited. When I read this groom’s story of his lovely proposal, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the couple. And their amazing wedding. Held at the bride’s parents house, every detail was sunny and bright, creating a day filled with love and happiness these two will never forget. LachancePhoto has filled a full image gallery with all the romantic little details for us, so make sure to hop over there when you’re ready for more!

From the groom … The idea came when we organized our vacation trip in Mexico. At this time, I was looking for a while the best moment to propose to her. What a mission for somebody like me!

I was not sure if Mexico could be the moment I was waiting for. Mexico is a highly touristy destination and consequently maybe too expected for someone as unique in my heart like Mylène.

As we prepared our trip, I found that all the elements started to come together for a proposal. Our resort was fantastic and bordered the Caribbean Sea. We had scheduled great restaurants and activities. Our room was exceptional and well located in the resort. What more could I ask for?

A week before leaving, I decided to buy the ring and ask Mylène’s father for the hand of his daughter. I was already prepared for that moment. For me, it was only a matter of waiting for THE moment.

The first day in Mexico was beautiful! We went on the beach and relaxed the whole day. During the evening, Mylène and I decided to take a walk on the beach – I took the ring with me. I knew the moment was close.  Nobody was on the beach during our lovely walk. After a moment, I decided to sit with Mylène to hear the sound of the sea. At this moment, and under a full moon, we were engaged.
