Get the Look: Amber Interiors’ Dining Room

I truly haven’t been able to get Amber’s home tour out of my mind since we featured it back in August. The entire thing is lovely, but her dining room in particular is still tugging at my heart strings. It’s just so vibrant and lovely, feminine yet not overtly so and I decided it was well worth another visit. This time, really breaking it down so we can oogle the pink and pretty for just a little while longer & steal every last detail for ourselves.

Whitney Mountain Lodge Wedding from Photo Love + Rose of Sharon

It feels like I’m gushing about my permagrin, brought on by a beautiful wedding, every day (it’s an occupational hazard!) but today. Oh today. It’s the permagrin to end all permagrins. From here on out, my smile will just get bigger and bigger and it’s all starting because of this stunning wedding from Photo Love and Rose of Sharon. It’s happy, it’s playful, and it’s prettier than I thought pretty could be.

From the gorgeous bride… My overall inspiration was really based on how we both wanted the wedding to “feel like”. We wanted a minimal, intimate, vintage inspired, with a touch of whimsical that really represented both of our personalities. I always dreamed of a secret garden type of wedding, with a flower crown, woodland critters and ethereal touches that were classic and fairy-like. Our colors were gold, peach, and seafoam green which is a tricky color, so choosing colors within the same color family really helped.

Squirrels are one of my favorite animals so I had to make sure that I snuck them in somewhere. Our cake topper was a squirrel bride & cat groom, which definitely highlighted our quirky personalities. For my bridesmaids, I took inspiration from Glamelia bouquets that were very popular in the 1950’s. So I wanted oversized and single flower bouquets made from paper that really embodied the whimsical spirit I was trying to capture.

I fractured my foot 3 months before the wedding and was not able to wear the heels I had planned on wearing. Luckily I found some seafoam colored Vans that were not only practical, but also a personal reminder of the day that I met my husband. I met him wearing Vans, and married him wearing Vans. It was pretty funny to have skate shoes hidden underneath my giant girly wedding dress—definitely stayed true to who I am.

For our guestbook we wanted to have pictures of everyone who showed up at the wedding, so we had a photo booth that allowed us to create.

The day could not have been more perfect. It was everything I had dreamed of and more. We were surrounded by friends and family who had been there from the very beginning, and we were finally able to “officially” proclaim our love after 8 years of dating. A few minutes before I walked down the aisle, our planner calmly told me that our altar had fell from a gush of wind and the glass vases that hung had shattered. I remember being extremely nervous that our altar had fell, about remembering my vows, but as soon as I saw him the world stopped and I felt a sense of calm. I didn’t hear the music, I didn’t see who was there, and I didn’t care about the altar–all I saw was him. That really was the best moment of my life! It was actually a good thing the altar fell, because it really opened up the view for our ceremony.

After the ceremony, we finally got to celebrate with our friends and family and dance the night away! Every moment went beautifully, and we were both so overwhelmed with the amount of love we were surrounded by. We were so happy to see everyone dancing, even some who usually shy away from dancing. Instead of sparklers or birdseed, we set off a lantern with both of our parents and filled it with blessings and good tidings for our new life together. It was really special and something I will remember forever.

Autumn Inspired Photo Shoot

This inspiration runs the gamut from beautiful details to pull for a Fall wedding, gorgeous fashion to bookmark and inspire and flows right on through to inspiration for your upcoming Thanksgiving tablescape. It seriously covers it all. Photographed by O’Malley Photographers with a to-die-for autumnal colored table crafted by Stacy Anderson Designs, yummy paper goods by la Happy and a million other pretty bits, head to the gallery and get ready to pin, bookmark and favorite your hearts out.

This shoot was a fun collaboration of incredible vendors including la Happy, Stacy Anderson Design, The Dress Theory, Iris & Gold, Vintage Ambiance, Nuflours, and ourselves O’Malley Photographers.

The shoot was inspired by the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Our goal was a soft autumn palette that was light and elegant, but with richer tones to mark the changing seasons. We tried to match the gorgeous 2014 collection Jenny Packham and Sarah Seven gowns with brides who have effortless and natural beauty to match the scenery and decor.

African Safari Themed Nursery

Just a few short days after booking a trip to South Africa, this adorable safari-themed nursery went and found its way into my inbox. Is it fate? It very well may be. Either way, it’s cuteness overload and I just can’t get enough. Captured by Sarah Kate, there’s more adorableness in the gallery (note: this image makes me swoon every time).

From Hawkins’ mom… When we learned of the exciting news that our little one was on the way, we decided to have a surprise baby. This is often perceived as a challenge when trying to decorate a nursery. After exploring options on many baby websites, we decided that this baby, without a doubt, would be our greatest adventure. Therefore, why not decorate by expressing those feelings throughout the nursery. While we had no idea where to start, our inspiration came from a safari and tribal mixture. There was no method to the madness other than we chose things that inspired us and one thing led to another. From the leather triangular mobile to the antlers and feather print, things quickly began to fall into place. We absolutely loved the Sharon Montrose animal prints and knew that we were headed in the right direction. Topped off with a 3-D zebra head on the wall, we were assured, who later became known as our Hawkins, would also be inspired to play and dream in a world created just for him.

Agoura Hills Engagement Session from Chaffin Cade Photography

High school sweethearts make me so, so happy, and even though these two cuties dated just briefly in high school (and re-connected years later), they totally fit the bill.  Because this is a love that you can just tell started years and years ago… the sort of love that radiates from every last image captured by Chaffin Cade, and fills your entire day with pure, unadulterated joy.  See it all right here.

From Chaffin Cade Photography… I love Adriana and Jimmy’s story! They went to high school together and shared a love connection back then. It was brief, but Jimmy said he always felt she was the one that got away. They reconnected a few years ago and now here they are, planning to spend the rest of their lives together. Talk about meant to be! The “then” portion of the engagement shoot (as in, when they knew each other in high school) is a bit more casual and fun. Carefree under a large tree, listening to their records (they’ve started a record collection and have a beautiful little record player), and just hanging out (love Adriana’s flowy skirt!). Adriana and Jimmy dressed a bit more upscale for the “now” portion. Still fun, but with a bit more glamour. All taking place under the golden California sun!

Melbourne Art Gallery Wedding from Tigs Macallan

I love when I can look at a wedding and immediately feel like I know the two people in the center of it all. This wedding captured beautifully by Tigs Macallan is a perfect example of just such a fête. The couples’ personality just seems to seep through each and every gorgeous image, and by the time I got to the last I felt like I could be there bestie. Get to know this stylish pair here.

From Tigs MacallanLots of of bright yellow spring daisies, some warm gentle sun, a yellow Volkswagen Combi and a funky lane in Melbourne made this wedding for me. Lauren and Nick had a super fun bridal party that were up for anything and naturally crazy and fun. The reception was held at All smiles gallery and the main feature of the decor was a large dessert table in the centre of the room that was covered in all kinds of elaborate dessert treats presented in a bling, vintage, sugar wonderland kinda way.

From the Bride….Vintage dessert Buffet Props- Collected over the past year from second hand shops and online stores. Cake stands made by Lauren and Nick, all signage made by the bride (I have my own party styling business “Poppy and Me”. Buntings made by the bride’s mum. Props from around the venue made by the bride and groom. It killed me to hand over the styling of the day to someone else! But Amelia was absolutely perfect!

Backyard Engagement Session from Tara Melissa Photographie

These two sweethearts?  They are awesome.  So awesome, in fact, that we couldn’t wait to kick off our week with their adorableness.  I’m talking one moment after another of pure sweetness captured by Tara Melissa Photographie and all set against one of the coolest settings you’ll ever see (it’s their backyard, lovelies).  It’s giant balloons from Sucre + Confetti meets smiley faces meets two adorable puppies.  See so much more right here in the full gallery.

From Tara Melissa Photographie… Laura and Mark envisioned a laid back, romantic, sun-kissed, golden hour, engagement session…with a hint of fairytale romance. Using DIY doors – courtesy of the groom-to-be (and Laura’s brilliant vision), strands of globe lights, a couple of fun heart balloons via Sucre + Confetti on Etsy, an enameled frog – plus an actual little toad we happened across! – and loads of delicious, vibrant, color saturating light…I think we managed to pull off exactly what they were hoping for.

Laura, who works in graphic design, seriously rocked a black and white polka dot dress with white and gold accessories. And Mark pulled off cool and casual in some crazy summer heat and humidity, with a light blue button down and complementary diamond and polka dot tie.

As we meandered in their backyard of apple trees, barns, and surrounding corn, we chatted about their upcoming wedding and grabbed a mix of posed and candid shots. Even their two crazy, lovable pups got in on the action at one point :)

To kick the fairytale element up a notch – without being entirely over the top ;) – Laura’s enameled frog magically transformed into her prince charming. And Mark was nearly carried away by his love for Laura!

What’s wonderful about this engagement session, to me, is that it illustrates that you don’t have to wander to the ends of the earth to find a beautiful location for perfectly lovely engagement photos. Sometimes the magic lies in your own backyard…and always between two people crazy-in-love.

Laura and Mark were recently wed, September 7, 2013. A beautiful ceremony and reception, uniquely them, at the nearby Deer Park Country Club and Matthiessen State Park.

Rustic Farm Wedding in Millarville From Nicole Sarah Photography

Ready to have your socks charmed right off? Well look no further than this rustic gem from Nicole Sarah Photography. It’s absolutely adorable from start to finish, and filled to the brim with all the things that make us squeal over here at SMP Canada. It’s a gallery that shouldn’t be missed, and you can catch every darling detail here.

From the Bride… Ryan and I met working at Heritage Pointe Golf Club. I had worked there for 4 years prior with Ryan’s younger sister and it just happened that we had never met until one fall when he came to fill in as a bartender for us in the Clubhouse. We began dating the following summer!

Well we had officially passed our 4 year dating mark and I was starting to wonder… but Ryan pulled it off and still managed to surprise me with a beautiful and sweet proposal on a beach in Maui at sunset. We had traveled to Maui 3 times prior and had fallen in love with the island and each other more and more every time we went, so it was just perfect that he chose this setting for us. It was very memorable and special.

Our Wedding Day… A sunny day- just the perfect weather to get married outside in! Everyone came from all over the country to celebrate with us- As I got my makeup done at my parents, the house was swarming with relatives and a flurry of activity. Ryan and I spent 2 awesome hours together doing our “photo shoot” as I like to call it- it was so wonderful to be with him in a quieter place for that time and enjoy smiling at each other and having fun together. The ceremony was beautiful and unique- it was amazing to look out to see all those who love us, smiling back at us. Very gratifying experience. The reception was a blast- lots of music, stories, dancing and of course kissing on command! One guest even brought a bell as a signal to kiss! We danced the night away and wrapped up the evening by changing into our jeans having a few more dances and heading off to Bragg Creek for an evening at the Riverside Chateau B&B. An amazing and special day.

Some of My Favorite Wedding Details: My bouquet- it was so gorgeous and I was so sad when I decided to take it out of water to dry it. I loved the arbor that we were married in front of because Ryan made it the night before the wedding for me. We had run out of time to put together the big cedar one that we had purchased. The decorations and flowers in the tent were another detail that we put a lot of care into- despite the rain that fell the entire week before we managed to decorate the tent beautifully so that our guests would not think about how wet their shoes were from the damp ground in the tent!

During the candid’s before the ceremony- it was a chance for us to relax and have fun together before the big event. Watching my grampa eat ribs that were for dinner and having sauce all over his face- it was so special to have my two grandparents there, so watching them enjoy themselves was a great feeling.

Our first dance- Ryan and I love singing together so we sang the whole time as we danced to You and Tequila (Kenny Chesney). We fell in love with this song one summer at Lake Koocanusa and listen to it in the car all the time and always sing along as loud as we can!

For our honeymoon, we are going to Aruba in November! We did however manage to escape to Canmore for a mini-moon right after the wedding for a few days of r&r and to spend some quality time!

Ceres Park Ranch Wedding from Cory Ryan Photography

When rustic chic meets crazy gorgeous details in a drop-dead gorgeous Ceres Park Ranch wedding, it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.  Especially when that gorgeous wedding happens to be chock-full of lush (+ vibrant) blooms from the always-awesome Verbena and features a duo that is sooo adorable, it puts a smile on your face a mile wide.  It’s what we call the perfect start to the work week and you can see it all captured by Cory Ryan right here in the full gallery.

From Cory Ryan Photography… Liv & Matt have been together for 10 years. 10 years! So you can bet everyone has been waiting in anticipation of this day for a while! This was quite literally one of those perfect wedding days, where the couple is SO in love, and surrounded by the sweetest and kindest friends and family one could ever hope for. And I’ll fess up, seeing how Liv and Matt look at each other made me tear up a time or two while editing these photos…

Liv’s adorable dog escorted her mom down the aisle, and the couple exchanged rings with all their nieces and nephews on stage with them. It was an emotional ceremony, performed by Matt’s brother. Verbena Floral hung gorgeous vases of flowers from the pavilion rafters, which glowed in the diffused back light . The kids (and a few awesome adults) got crazy with the hula hoops while the sun set in the Hill Country woods. Liv’s brother Glen surprised her with custom lighting all around the property and white twinkle lights under the pavilion, creating a major wow factor! The main dinner course was served on site in the farmhouse pizza ovens – and Liv & Matt even got a quick lesson on pizza making as well!

Matt, guitarist for LI’L CAPT’N TRAVIS, got up on stage more than once to play some songs with iterations of that band and many more. He even played a version of “I’m Your Puppet” dedicated especially to Liv, while transferring his guitar to Gary Newcombe with some killer dance moves mid-song and hopping off the stage to finish dancing to the song with his new bride. Sigh! His brother also played guitar on a song with him, and two younger nephews played a sweet version of the Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood.” But main band Grand Champeen really brought the rock to the party with some awesome covers and originals! Right in the middle of the rock and dance party, Liv dove off the stage and crowd surfed across the dance floor – PRICELESS!!!

French Polynesia Wedding from Sandy Tam Photography

I’m pretty darn sure it doesn’t get more romantic than saying your I dos on the sandy shores of the French Polynesia islands. Which is just how these two tied the knot, and from the looks at the images from Sandy Tam Photography it wasn’t just romantic, it was gorgeous. See it all here.

From the Bride…Shortly after my second or third date with Mark, we had a random conversation – if we could pick anywhere in the world for our honeymoon, where would it be? Surprisingly, we both answered Tahiti and Bora Bora (Mark also mentioned Antarctica which was quickly vetoed). The honeymoon question was resolved without a lengthy conversation, but how about the wedding?

I have been to many beautiful weddings and feel lucky to be in a few wedding parties as well. It is quite amazing how every wedding is unique and beautiful in its own way and it never ceases to bring me to tears. But what kind of wedding did I want? Oddly, I didn’t have a fantasy dream wedding and I never counted down to the day I’d get married.

Following the engagement, Mark and I decided that serenity and intimacy was what we wanted for our “big day”. Destination wedding it was! And since we decided that Bora Bora would be our honeymoon location, Moorea became an easy choice for the wedding. We weren’t sure how many guests could attend but we both knew and agreed that we would be living out a dream regardless if we had 200, 20 or even 2 (which turned out to be the case!).

The day finally came! We got up at sunrise, NOT to get hair and nails done at the bridal salon or checking in with vendors. Instead, we rented a kayak and paddled out to the middle of the ocean with our two best friends/photographer/wedding party/witness (yes, they wore many hats). We maneuvered around a lot of shallow reefs and finally arrived at a nice sandy area. We got off the kayaks and were surrounded by sting rays and sharks! There were MANY of them. It was the perfect start to our wedding day. After lunch, we prepared for the wedding and the day ended with the most gorgeous golden sunset we had in the entire trip. It was simple, easy, intimate and fun. This was our dream wedding come true.

Codman Estate Wedding from HENRY + MAC

HENRY + MAC have a way of capturing a day that simply feels magical.  So when they get to capture a day like this one at Codman Estate, I feel beyond lucky that I get to pour through every last image. It’s the perfect combination of stylish and sweet, making for one fabulous gallery of images. See them all here.

From the Bride…When we first started to plan our wedding, John and I did not have the first clue where to begin. I was one of the first of my friends to get married, so I had not been to many weddings and I definitely was not the “party planner” type. Pinterest and wedding blogs quickly became my best friends. I always knew that I wanted a “country” feel to my wedding, something natural and “home-grown” but I was overwhelmed with the ideas I saw online and in magazines. John and I have always appreciated the little things in our relationship; the inside jokes, hand-holding, and car dancing, have made our relationship special. So we decided that it was going to be the “little things” that made our wedding special.

I had long been admiring wedding photos of Henry + Mac, and I contacted them as one of our first wedding “moves.” I knew we had to have them as our photographers because their aesthetic and ability to capture the feel of a wedding day were breathtaking. After booking them, they helped us choose a wedding venue that they knew would bring our idea for a New England country wedding alive. We fell in love with Codman Estate in Lincoln, MA. The Italian Gardens are magical.

I remember my mother and aunt telling me to take a moment, at some time during the day, to step back and take it all in. On a walk back from pictures to the cocktail hour, I remember holding my new husband’s hand, a hand I had held many times over the past 7 years, but in that moment I realized that this was the guy I was going to spend forever with. Corny, maybe, but it was exciting and fulfilling to know that all these people came to celebrate the beginning of our new life together. We are blessed.

If I had advice for anyone planning a wedding it would be to slow down, both in the process of the planning and on the actual day. Think about what is truly important to you and surround yourself with supportive, professional, and talented vendors. I’d like to say do not stress, but that’s silly- we all stress- just don’t stress too much where you lose sight of what’s important.

Bellevue Mansion Engagement Session from Buffy Dekmar Photography

I love the rain.  I love the wonderful smell, the cozy feel and the downright romantic vibe it brings to each and every moment it touches.  Moments like the ones filling this mesmerizing engagement session captured beautifully by Buffy Dekmar Photography, a true Georgian day featuring one seriously lovely duo and image after image of pure pretty.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Buffy Dekmar Photography… Mallory and Ross are from Texas, but a big part of their engagement has been spent in Georgia, where Ross is in officer’s training at Fort Benning. The couple wanted a quintessential Georgia backdrop for their engagement photos, so we chose the antebellum Bellevue Mansion and the pine grove at Hills and Dales Estate. Afterall, there isn’t much that is more “Georgia” than pine trees, magnolias, and Civil War history.

Mallory was in town for just one day, so we were a little bit discouraged to see big gray clouds looming on the way to their session. The clouds stayed, and the rain came and went, but the couple’s cheerfulness never wavered. I was reminded that when you’re young and madly in love (slippery sidewalks aside), inclement weather can only add romance to the equation.

Cincinnati Indian Fusion Wedding from Lang Thomas Photography

I’m a little obsessed with Indian weddings. I think they are so beautiful – bright, vibrant, happy, and they usually include a few dress changes, and that’s never a bad thing. But this one, from Lang Thomas Photography, might just take the elephant-topped cake. Marti’s Floral Designs worked alongside the bride and planner extraordinaire Viva Bella Events to create a wedding that is going to haunt my dreams, in the very best way possible!

From the photographer… My husband and I just shot an incredible wedding and it was too good to not send your way. It was unlike any wedding we’ve seen before—not only was the wedding treated as a joining of two families, but two cultures as well. The bride (from India) and the groom (from Cincinnati) put forth a great effort to stylistically marry their two backgrounds. It played out as an elaborate, colorful wedding, full of amazing food, lots of elephants, beautiful dress, and a memorable ping-pong match.

Some of the special touches of the day – sari’s worn by bride and several bridesmaids, hand drawn elephant guest book (by the bride), clay elephant cake toppers (by the bride), the henna tattoos on all the bridesmaids, the historic castle and grounds that hosted the ceremony and reception, the literal “tying the knot” Indian custom, unique rings, table settings + floral, and the ping pong match that introduced the bride and groom (they met playing ping pong during their study breaks in med school).

Tips on Relaxing at Home

We recently held down the fort this morning on the Today Show (Again!), talking all things interior design and relaxation. So we thought it’d be fun to give you a rundown of our segment – complete with shopping guides and  tips on how to transform your spaces into moments of pure relaxation.

Your bedroom is supposed to be the most relaxing place in your house. After all, it’s the single most common place you’d head when a battery recharge is in order. Whether your escaping a houseful of excited relatives or your unwinding at the end of a long day of holiday shopping, it’s important to make sure every inch of it exudes a feeling of total relaxation. There are several easy changes and affordable additions you enlist to enhance the “calm”.

Tips on Creating a Relaxing Bedroom

1. Fabrics: Load in the fabric! Upholster your headboard, ensure your sheets are extra soft, a plush rug underfoot and an upholstered side chair make a world of difference. Fabric is comfortable, cozy and does wonders when it comes to absorbing noise, so if you’re in a loud apartment building it’s a great way to drown out the neighbors or street chatter!

2. Infusing color: It’s always a good idea to start with neutrals, like ivory and cream, for your larger, more expensive pieces (we’re talking bedding, headboards and the like). Once you have the staples down, you can then start to add in pops of colors in calming hues like a deep, rich blue, gentle hues or metallics using throw pillows and accessories. The best part is that you can easily switch them out should you ever grow tired of the same ol’ thing day after day.

3. Patterns: It’s always fun to integrate patterns and color, but make sure to do so with subtlety so it isn’t jarring to your relaxed senses. We really liked this zig-zag pattern, but using it on the bedspread would have been a little much so, instead, we just used it on the bed skirt for an understated look that still feels playful.

4. De-cluttering: Studies prove there’s a correlation between clutter and your mood. With that in mind, keeping your room as organized and de-cluttered as possible is always a good idea. You can build in storage or function into almost every corner to help with keeping your space tidy. Have a tendency to toss todays clothes onto the floor? Hanging cute hooks on the wall will help. Pick up a few trays to corral all those bits & baubles. And storage boxes in closets and under beds can be your very best friend.

5. Creating a sanctuary: It’s always a bonus to have a little corner in which you can curl up in with a favourite book. A lush chair not only looks great but is comfy, without taking up too much room. Cover all of your favourite books in brown paper and elegantly writing the titles on the binding is a great way to create a functional bookshelf that looks fantastic, but doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Fun Gadgets to Help you Relax

A gel pillow: This ingenius invention may be the fix to all of your nighttime temperature issues. If you’re the kind of person that gets too toasty between the sheets, this will be your new best friend. It’s made of a gel that will help you stay crisp and cool all night. No more flipping that pillow around in search for the cold spots! Plus, the layer of memory foam instantly means a better night sleep. We swear by it.

A wireless charging stationThis little contraption will literally make your clutter nightmares disappear and all your dreams come true. It’s an easy way to eliminate that cord clutter while charging your devices at once. If you ask us, keep this bad boy on your dresser, away from your bed, for a stress-free, unplugged sleep.

A sleep machine: Everyone needs to discover the simple powers of a sleep machine. Whether it’s soothing music, or calming white noise, we promise it will help you sleep like a baby in no time flat. And now with the help of the iPhone, you can download apps and take your sleep machine with you on the go! I know. Thank you technology.

A pj warmer: This one may fall under the more ridiculous category, but hear us out for a second. Isn’t everything better when it comes out of the dryer? I know that I, personally, always want to wear that just washed sweatshirt! It’s super cozy and calming, perfect to cut the chill out of the air. This PJ warmer looks like a giant heating pad but it’s actually your new favorite relaxation accessory.

Heated slippers:  These heated slippers actually have a removable herbal heat or cooling source inside them. You pop the little insertion in the microwave or the freezer then slip it into the slipper and voila, warm and happy feet. Plus the herbs smell kind of nice and seasonal. Cozy AND relaxing.

The bathroom may not be the first place that comes to mind when it comes to relaxation, but we need to change this immediately! While we all know that a long bath will do wonders for those aching, Christmas-shopping-all-day, feet of yours, there are a handful of other things we can all do to transform a ho hum bathroom into a place of sheer and utter zen.

Tips on Creating a Relaxing Bathroom

1. Stay organizedKeep your drawers and cabinets organized by category, and if you share your bathroom, organize it so all your stuff is separate from theirs. This will help when it comes to finding everything with ease and minimal stress. If you don’t have enough storage space, consider a cart or a towel rack. There are several beautiful options out there, that not only look great but are incredibly functional.

2. Pick up a plush bathmat: Ours has a layer of memory foam that your feet, knees and hips will thank you for.

3. Statement mirror: A statement mirror in a neutral color is not only functional, but also a great way to open up the space and make a tiny room feel much brighter and bigger.

4. Colors: When it comes to the color scheme, try to incorporate cool colors like blues, greens or blush tones, which are light and calming. You can do so through your wall color or your towels and bathmats. We always suggest reserving bold colors like red and orange for the more vibrant areas of your home.

5. A TV caddy: You may laugh at this nifty little bathroom caddy which doubles as both a toilet paper holder and an iPad deck — but really, what’s not to love. Place it right in front of the tub when you are ready for a long bath, to turn on some soothing tunes, watch your favorite holiday movie or catch up on your guilty pleasure TV. This little gadget will easily transform your bathroom into a place you’ll NEVER want to leave.

6. A wine sippy cup: It really doesn’t get any better than this. For the girl that tends to bring a glass of wine with her into the tub, a grown up sippy cup is basically genius. This no spill cup ensures that you don’t interrupt your relaxing bath with a broken glass or spilled vino (the worst)!

7. A bath massager: If you love yourself a good hot tub but, like most of us, can’t afford that luxury, we’ve discovered the second best option. This bath mat massager is portable, lightweight and pinpoints the necessary pressure points all over your body giving you a bubbly massage that’s almost as good as the real deal, for significantly cheaper. Think of it as a nightly holiday gift to yourself.

8. Flowers & candles: A no brainer. Such an easy way to breath fresh air into any room of your house, especially the bathroom. Seasonal flowers and subtly scented candles are easy ways to upgrade your bathroom from month to month, and bring the outdoors inside creating a relaxing escape.

9. Massage gloves: For an evening filled with pampering, these gloves are kind of amazing. They’re lined with a mineral oil gel that moisturizes dry, rough skin. The gel actually releases a combination of essential oils that really get under the skin’s surface to make you look as relaxed as you feel.

Gold & Navy Inspiration Shoot from Fabulously Chic Weddings + Jamie Lee Photography

When glamorous nautical-inspired details, a breathtaking setting (hello Hyatt Regency Coconut Point) and a team of top-notch Florida vendors combine for a dreamy inspiration shoot, this is what happens.  A beautiful lesson in elegance styled to perfection by Fabulously Chic Weddings and captured in amazing images by Jamie Lee Photography.  It’s stunning navy and gold hues meets all kinds of awesome, with just a touch of the Great Gatsby.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Fabulously Chic Weddings… When Jamie of Jamie Lee Photography approached me about the shoot, and mentioned the Gatsby glam look, I knew I had to be a part of whatever was to come. We both agreed that we love the look, but we wanted a fresh take on the oh-so-popular Gatsy glam. We wanted the overall feel to be glamorous, but still bring in some nautical/beachy elements. I’m a huge fan of texture, and find it very fitting for a beachside affair. Gold is so hot right now, and what says nautical more than navy?

The gown was an easy choice. We knew we wanted something flowy, elegant and romantic, with a lot of texture. The Allure gown was the perfect fit. The flowly texture of the organza looked like waves… very elegant waves! We also loved that the color was a very soft taupe-gold shade.

For the groom, we wanted him to look dapper, so we had to go with the bow tie and suspenders. The excellent fitting tan tux is from a new men’s line by Allure. In addition, the navy color of the bow tie and suspenders brought in that touch of bold we were wanting.

For the ceremony location, we used the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point’s private island. We all agreed that brides are not taking advantage of this gorgeous location, but private beaches are few and far between! We wanted the ceremony to feel bold, yet still elegant, and of course, glamorous. The navy runner was a bit of a daring selection, but it looked just as fabulous as we thought it would! It ended up being a very overcast day (we almost got rained out multiple times), but the soft colors of the overcast sky ended up working really well with our vision! The white and ivory blend of florals (ivory roses, white stock, hydrangea and freesia) by Libby’s Flowers nicely framed the aisle, with the phalaenopsis orchids really bringing in the elegance.

For the cocktail hour, we were beyond excited to be able to do it right on the sand. The navy sequin linens were the perfect (over the top) touch of glam that the cocktail location on the beach needed. The cocktail tables were topped with super cute gold shells, with small floral arrangements coming out. We brought in beautiful lounge furniture, from Swanky Event Rentals, in a sandy color, with unique gold end tables. The Hyatt Regency provided ridiculously pretty hors’d’oeuvres: lobster claw cocktail, tropical ceviche in a martini glass with a plantain chip, watermelon cubes with feta cheese and brunoise of cucumber and mint, and beef carpaccio cones with truffled oil and sea salt. The Hyatt also mixed up our fun signature drinks- Fresh Mint Margaritas and Watermelon Martinis (recipe below).

Ingredients include: 1/4 cup chopped mint, 2 cups crushed ice, 3⁄4 cup tequila, 1⁄2 cup fresh lime juice, 1⁄2 cup triple sec
Watermelon Martini
Ingredients include: 3 oz citrus vodka, 1oz Watermelon Pucker, 1/2oz Cointreau or triple sec, 1 splash lemonade, 1 splash sprite/7up

For the reception, we really wanted to glam it up (have I used the word glam enough yet?)! We found the amazing gold chargers and coral-like candle sticks at Z Gallerie. They were so interesting and elegant, exactly what we were looking for! The La Tavola linen, Isabella in midnight blue, added a lot of texture and contributed to the elegance of the overall look, which was very important for our vision. We added a ton of gold accents from flatware, to place cards (compasses), to votives. The gorgeous cake was designed by Courtney Shaw of Fabulously Chic Weddings and created by the Hyatt. The adorable cake topper from The Pink Owl Gifts on Etsy was one of our favorite details from the day. The first dance took place under the stars and was illuminated by cafe lighting and a simple, gold chandelier.

At the end of the day, we loved the outcome of the shoot and felt it went beyond our expectations! Many thanks to all of the amazing vendors who were involved!

NYC Engagement Session from Jen and Chris Creed Photography

There are few things that beat a New York City Engagement session, and this stunning session from Jen and Chris Creed is the perfect example of why. The city just seems to come alive , providing the perfect backdrop for this newly engaged duo. It’s picture after picture of NYC engagement perfection, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From Jen and Chris Creed…We’re so excited to share this engagement session in NYC! Abby and Patrick will be getting married in Kentucky, where they met, later this year. But they both currently live in NYC–Abby works in fashion, and Patrick is a running coach. One of our favorite things to do is document people when they are in a stage of life that is unique, which fit them perfectly! They may not be living in NYC forever, so it was wonderful to be able to capture all the things they love most about living in the city, while also celebrating their engagement! They took us all over, highlights including Central Park, the Highline, the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, and my personal favorite, the Brooklyn Bridge. We ended the evening across the bridge in Hoboken, where they are currently living, to catch their favorite view of the skyline!

SMP Massachusetts Welcomes Our Advertisers + A GIVEAWAY!

You know what I love more than anything?  Pretty, pretty paper goods.  Ask any one of my friends and they’ll tell you… hand me an exquisite letterpress invitation and I’ll be over the moon for days.  So the amazing Tweedle Press?  I love them.  Because not only do they have drop-dead gorgeous invitations and stunning paper goods down to a serious science, they also happen to have some of the finest customer service and know-how you’ll ever come across.  They’re that good.

From Tweedle Press… We are the very embodiment of “something old” – our huge, antique, printing presses that create that deep letterpress texture, and “something new” – our modern yet vintage design sensibility that allows us to translate whatever ideas we dream up on the computer into a handmade, printed reality. The one thing that everyone getting married has in common – regardless of whether their colors are mint or slate, their vibe is casual or traditional, or their theme is swanky or rustic – is that they want their wedding to feel like an authentic representation of them. Not some contrived, spoon fed version – but a truly distilled essence. Our clients want to work with someone who will stroll around inside their brains a little to suss out the essence of what they’re trying to build and turn that into the perfect visual representation. Invitations are often the first glimpse guests get into this event that most folks spend the better part of a year or more turning into a reality. We choose the clients we work with very intentionally, and we only book a limited number so that we can give them every ounce of creativity and attention they deserve.

Tweedle Press is serious about sustainability – and we don’t mince or greenwash. We tell you exactly why we run our business the way we do, parse all the technical lingo, and divulge what we’re still working on.  Every single one of the clients we work with – whether their wedding is big or small, pricey or modest – shares our passion for paper. We have decided that it’s more important to us to spend our time creating pieces of art and building a family business than it is to get rich or blend into a corporate culture. Our clients have decided that investing a certain portion of their budget towards incredible wedding invitations is a worthwhile pursuit. Give us a call or send us an email, so we can chat about whether we might be a good fit for each other!

Because we have realized that it truly does feel better to give than to receive, Tweedle Press is giving away one completely free, no strings attached, Tailor Made wedding invitation design to a lucky couple chosen at random. Head on over to Tweedle Press’ website to enter.

They will go through our entire collaborative design process, and can then either take the digital file to have their invitations printed anywhere, OR choose to have them letterpress printed through us (we have to charge for that part, but it’s highly recommended!).

Welcome to the family, Tweedle Press!  We are so happy to have you! xo
