Our vision was to create a once in a lifetime, French country chic wedding celebration that is romantic and intimate with distinctive fine art touches and a gentle nod to the Normandy region!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]The couple was engaged in November of 2019. The groom planned a whole day, starting with the Met – one of the bride’s favorite places in the world. Afterward, they went to Central Park – another one of her favorite places – for a long walk. They ended up at their “spot” which is a hill nestled in some trees and when the bride turned around to settle in, the groom was down on one knee. Later, the bride’s best friend and her partner popped out to surprise the couple with champagne and flowers![/field]

French Cliffs Bridal Session

You know what every Monday after a long weekend needs? A dreamy escape for your fresh-off-a-holiday mind. A stroll along these out of this world cliffs of France to be exact. Complete with a blanket of vibrant green sea moss, calligraphy love letters from Nice Plume and a lavender dress from Gossamer Vintage. Entrancing right? Get the full effect with Celine Chhuon‘s imagery in THE VAULT.

From Celine Chhuon PhotographyThis styled shoot was inspired by this quote: “”When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.” (Rainer Maria Rilke) It tells the story of a Bride-to-be who is anxious about her wedding starting in a few hours, so she goes to the sea, where she knows her soul will get the calming breeze of the ocean and comforting sound of waves. The shooting is taking place in Normandy, France. At the amazing cliffs of Etretat.

Elegant Private Chateau Wedding

I’m pretty sure I dream of France daily; the food, the wine, fashion and macaroons. And this wedding, at a private French chateau, is all of those dreams in one beyond beautiful place. Orchestrated by Fete in France and documented by Ian Holmes, this blush and gold celebration has me absolutely breathless. I refuse to accept post-holiday reality just yet so this gallery is where I’ll (gladly) remain.

From Fête In France… All-American Linsay and Brazilian Leo met and fell in love in the US but are currently based in Rio De Janeiro . The couple along with Leo’s family and friends came from Brazil to have their September wedding in France while Linsay’s family traveled from the US.

The couple privatized a beautiful chateau in the lush green Normandy countryside for their wedding weekend where they could also sleep all of their guests on site. The festivities began on Friday night with a BBQ and cocktails by the pool. On Saturday following hair and make-up Linsay and Leo met for an intimate first look with photographer Ian Holmes.

The ceremony seating was a mix of chairs and loveseats borrowed from the chateau along with custom made pillows designed by the bride herself for a fun touch. The sculpted hedges in the garden created a natural archway and were draped with fabric and flowers to create a gorgeous backdrop for the wedding ceremony. A jazz trio played for the ceremony and the couple celebrated at the end of the ceremony by exiting to a jazz version of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams.

In lieu of traditional place cards, a Polaroid camera was passed around to take funny pictures of each guest with props during the cocktail hour. In the dining room each guest had a Ladurée macaron in the pastel colors of the wedding at their seat. The pictures were then placed in the macaron at the dinner table for guest to find their picture at their seat. The romantic floral decor in the blush, peach, ivory and gold tones made for an elegant reception table.

The couple opted for the classic french Croquembouche as their wedding cake which was presented with the traditional sparklers. The couple and guests then danced late into the night.

Elegant Spring Wedding in Normandy, France

I knew I was going to love this wedding with all my being when I laid eyes on the images from Ines DiSanto, but then I read the Bride’s story and I fell head over heels. That’s when I realized my words could never possibly do this wedding justice. Their story will pull at your heart strings and then make you smile from ear to ear (the Groom did his Bride’s wedding day hair!), so it goes without saying this gallery is one worthy of your entire weekend.

From the Bride…Our story has been a lifetime in the making. I was only ten years old when I met the boy I would one day marry. We were brought together under trying circumstances when both of our fathers had passed away. Tom and I were introduced on a particularly painful day during a funeral, but were still able to find comfort, strength, and love in each other. Since that bittersweet day in our childhood, we have experienced so many beautiful things and our relationship has flourished. We truly believe that our meeting was fate, perhaps arranged by our loved ones above. After fifteen years together, we are so happy to finally be married.

We genuinely wanted to capture this feeling of innocence and enchantment on our wedding day. Our hope was that the occasion would be an enjoyable and unforgettable experience for our intimate group of guests. And in order to satisfy our wanderlust and honor our European heritage, we knew we wanted to say, “I do” abroad. The result was a destination celebration in a small town in Normandy, France.

We planned every detail, large and small, ourselves. I was lucky enough to know enough French vocabulary in order to communicate with vendors and make arrangements. My sister-in-law picked flowers and made the boutonnieres. My mother organized the flower arrangements and set the table. And my talented husband not only hand carved a beautiful wooden box to hold our vows, but he also did my hair the morning of the wedding day! And of course choosing our reception venue, which also doubled as our accommodations for the week-long celebration, was an easy decision to make because the historical château and grounds were absolutely stunning.

However, I must admit that our wedding would not have been possible without all of the wonderful locals who helped us tremendously. To our luck, we found an incredibly generous priest who agreed to marry us in a striking 12th-century church. Not only did our priest give us a wonderful ceremony, but he also revealed to us that he had decorated the church especially for us, admitting his other passion besides his spiritual work of course, included interior design. A friend and local hotel owner lent us his common area for cocktail hour and provided delicious treats ranging from champagne to macaroons. And besides the decorations and extraordinary food supplied by our amazing caterers from Honfleur Traiteur, all of the flowers, the wedding cake, and other small touches were provided from the local shops in the area. Also worth mentioning is our incredible photography team, Lmvisual, who truly captured every treasured detail of the entire event and perfectly portrayed the beauty of the area. It was honestly touching to see how much the whole town cared about our special day and their hospitality and generosity were tremendous. My advice to other couples planning a destination wedding would be to simply be nice and respectful to the people you seek help from because kindness is usually rewarded.

Our wedding completely exceeded my expectations and I will remember it as the happiest time of my life. But most of all, I will remember the feeling of love shared by all, which truly took on an energy of its own. And as our mothers like to say, our fathers shared in our special day because on the morning of our wedding day, the warm sun broke through the notorious rain clouds of Normandy and the wild flowers on the property bloomed overnight.
