How One Bride Styled Her 12 Bridesmaids to Perfecton

When it came time for this Southern bride to style her 12 bridesmaids, she turned to Joanna August for a mix-and-match look that’s completely on point. A dusty pink and mauve combo made for a unique yet cohesive palette and there’s so much more to see in The Vault from Jessica Gold Photography.

From Jessica Gold PhotographyDiane and Chris had a beautiful wedding filled with southern details. Their wedding took place at Odle Dobbin Station, a venue filled with greenery and rustic vibes. They incorporated this theme of greenery into their floral arrangements and reception decor. To continue with their southern vibe, they used antlers on their reception tables intertwined in their flowers.

Diane wore a Maggie Sottero gown with classic lace and glamorous accessories. (Who can go wrong with Kate Spade earrings?) Her gold bracelet had the date of her wedding date engraved in Roman numerals, and is now a piece she wears daily.

Most importantly, they wanted their day to be surrounded by the love of their family and friends, and this is seen prominently in their bridal party. They had an enormous bridal party of 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen styled to perfection. The ladies wore different styles and colors of Joanna August’s dresses, and the gentlemen wore patterned bowties and suspenders. Apart from their aesthetic style, the love from their family and friends was evident in every portion of the day. One of the sweetest moments was during the ceremony when both families joined Diane and Chris at the alter for a prayer, and there wasn’t a dry eye among them.

From the Bride…How do you capture pure magic? Is it even possible? Are there words in the English language with the ability to tell of something so majestic and purely lovely as May 15th, 2016? Alas, I am unsure… but between my words and our talented photographer’s skillful eye, I hope the magic of that day is brought to life in your heart.

The beauty of May 15th, 2016 will never fail to take my breath away. There was a moment, as I could feel the crochet hook buttoning up my dress and the sound of film clicking when all a sudden the to-do lists filled with seating arrangements, playlists, work projects put on hold…you know…the details… simply faded. I let go of the months of preparation and joyfully slipped into the bliss of wedding day.

The forecast had been for a classic Texas thunderstorm and yet, the overcast sky held the promise of lovely May sunshine. I emerged from the little room on the side of the stately DeGolyer home to be greeted by squeals and giggles of the dearest friends in the world. Standing there in my favorite dress, everything was green and real and bright. There were my nine rocks, my best girls… who have held me, prayed with me, and shaped me into the woman I am today. They were an enchanting sight, all dressed beautifully in blush looking like they could easily slip into an Anthropologie themed Waltz of the Flowers dance. Although I love my girls, I was ready to see Christopher. You see… I can get quite nervous being the center of attention, but when he’s there… I’m ok, I’m secure, I feel safe. He helps me be brave and strong amongst a million other things… I now know the meaning of “my better half” because he is my better half. As I read his note to me, it was a mixture of depth, heart, soul, and jokes… you see, Christopher has this way of making me laugh… he always keeps me laughing.

Turning the corner and seeing him there in his uniform… oh my soul… my heart still skips a beat merely thinking about it. Our first look was one of those moments, the kind that’ll be iconic in our memories forever, that at any point in our lives, we could close our eyes and relive it because it’s that vivid and strong. I’ll never forget walking towards him, ever so delicately calling his name and nervously wondering what he’d think when he turns around. We had been anticipating this moment for months because you see… Christopher and I had been long distance for over two years, joyfully walking through seasons apart including a deployment and Ranger school. This moment was not only the first time we saw each other on our wedding day, but it was also the beginning of our lives together! No more goodbyes or goodnights… we had made it. Two years of distance done, let’s begin our lives together!

As the last guest was seated and the music began to play, my dad and I were escorted through the DeGolyer mansion and out the majestic front door to ensure no one saw me. It was the most elegant and calming walk before the whirlwind and magical night began. As two of our dear friends began to sing an acoustic version of “Multiplied” by Needtobreathe, my dad and I walked down the aisle towards my best friend, and as we were about halfway there, the clouds parted and a beautiful Texas sunshine shown down on all of our best friends and family… it was as if our best guest had just taken His seat. The beautifully crafted garlands brought a royal yet organic realness to where we stood. As we were led through our vows, all I can remember is joy, the purest form of it. Proclaiming in front of all that I will be his and he will be mine. We laughed and had mist in our eyes, but everything from the music, to the sunshine, to the tiniest detail on our communion table reflected the beauty of our marriage beginning. I remember feeling the wind blow my veil as it elegantly draped down the steps and seeing the sun hit flecks of blue and gold in his eyes. Dreamiest moment of my life.

As we turned around, I was ready to have some fun! Before the social butterfly part of the night began, Christopher and I were ushered to a private dinner in the rose garden to collect our thoughts and exclaim things to each other like “we’re married!!!” acting like two kids as we sampled the incredible food we had meticulously chosen for our beloved guests.

Looking around at the enchanting place where we were going to have the greatest party of our lives was surreal. Everything from the blush and gold accents to the romantic bistro lights made us feel like we were at a European midsummer’s medieval feast in the middle of a mystical forest – which is exactly what we had envisioned. We wanted to get married surrounded by life. What a more perfect place than a garden bursting with flowers, deep green vines, and the chirping of happy creatures? It was perfection. Our florals captured the natural, organic, effortless grace that I had desired and the large number of guests felt like a small gathering of friends under the cozy canopy of the tent and lights. I felt like a princess and as I glanced over at Christopher, I felt like Cinderella – all night long. I know that may sound cliché or may even a bit silly to some, but truly, I felt …that night… a kind of magic that I’d never experienced before.

Running into the romantic tent and being cheered on was exhilarating, making me wonder if everyone could hear my heartbeat as our first dance began. We had practiced and had laughed, but honestly, in that moment, we were just us – twirling, laughing, and soaking in the lyrics of “By Two” by Dave Barnes. The rest of the evening was filled with the hearts of others, hugging every soul that had come to celebrate us. Everything from the music, the lights, the food, the cake (best cake I’ve ever had – the dark chocolate sea salt cake captured my foodiness perfectly!), and Bailey’s milkshakes cooling us down as Uptown Funk came to a close was more than we could have ever hoped for.

Our last dance… the guests had been ushered to the entrance and there were were alone on the dance floor, my dress had turned gray on the bottom from dancing hard to favorites from Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson, my hair fallen, both of us… sweaty and messy from a night of celebration, his bowtie crooked from many hugs… and although the visual perfection of us had passed, the perfection was complete… we were married, we had celebrated with the best of people, and we were together… it had really happened… I got it all… all I’ll ever want… how did an imperfect, southern girl like me get so lucky? Perhaps it’s not luck, actually I know it’s not luck, but something infinitely greater. I’ve been given a precious gift…life with Christopher… a servant hearted, brave leader, humble explorer, thoughtful philosopher, American hero… I could go on, but as my soul sister Jane Austen would say, he is “everything a young man ought to be.” And he’s mine.

As we walked out into a sea of American flags waving, Christopher dipped me low and kissed me, making me feel more iconic than the girl dipped in New York City on V-Day. As we drove away, I began to cry in an overflow of emotion after all that had taken place. The only words I could muster to my husband, my dear Christopher was “I’m so happy… I’m just so happy.”

A Wedding Workshop You’d Vie to Attend

Lindsey Brunk and Taylor Lord are here to show us all that wedding workshops? Well they’re the www.bomb.com. Because this photography + stylist shoot is any proof, we guarantee that we’ll all be vying for a spot next season. See it all in The Vault!

From Lindsey BrunkIt was such a joy to teach this workshop for photographers and stylists alongside Taylor Lord earlier this year! For this editorial, we were inspired by the gorgeous hues of the agave plants on Travaasa’s property and chose a simple color palette of white, cream and dusty green. We absolutely loved seeing our vision come together with this wonderful team of vendors!

Our bride wore a stunning Pronovias Atelier gown that is truly a piece of art. With incredible movement and delicate embellishment, this gown brought an elevated sense of elegance to our shoot while keeping things effortlessly beautiful.

One of my favorite elements of the day was the stunning raised dogwood garland Andi from Pollen Events made for our tabletop. By far one of the most innovative centerpieces I’ve ever seen, the colors and textures of her blooms and greenery absolutely blew me away.

The Sweetest Monogramed Bridesmaid Brunch

Hello, brides-to-be! It’s Ali from Love You, Mean It here to share one of the most fun days i’ve had with some of my very best friends! Besides the fact that I get to marry the man of my dreams, our wedding day is something I look forward to because it’s a day we get to spend with our closest friends and family. And there is one thing for sure, I couldn’t say “i do” without a few special ladies by my side!

I love giving gifts! I often find that giving a gift is far better than receiving one, so I wanted to find a memorable way to ask my friends to be bridesmaids! For those girls living in Dallas, I thought it would be fun to host a brunch to create an experience to show how much I appreciate them, beyond just the gift they would receive.

I wanted to create an intimate setting that would make my friends feel extra special! Our wedding colors will be white, green and gold, so i wanted to incorporate this color scheme as much as possible throughout the tablescape to really set the tone for what’s to come! Each place setting had the most gorgeous pretty little plates, accompanied by green and gold accents. I wrote each girl a special note and used the calligraphy by Alli K Designs on the envelope as their place cards! And no table is complete without a beautiful centerpiece of fresh flowers. R love floral created the most stunning white and green bouquet that made the entire look come together!

For bites, I wanted to recreate some of my favorite brunch items, this time only smaller! Silver-dollar pancakes, mini pastries and petite parfaits were on the menu. And of course, no party is complete without bubbly! For the actual gift, I wanted the girls to receive something that they could not only wear during the wedding, but also have as a reminder of this special time. Inside a monogrammed jewelry box from parker thatch, they would find matching crystal earrings that would be perfect for the big day! A little something for now, and a little something for the wedding day!

I am so grateful to have such wonderful women in my life and I couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate them. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey ahead and luckily for me, I have some of the most kind, caring, and intelligent women by my side! To see more of our day, check out this fun video by when it clicks! Thank you so much for following along on this exciting adventure! I hope you are enjoying it just as much as I am!

Saturday Morning Movie: A Love Story 20 Years In the Making

Who would have thought, back in the second grade, when these two met, that they were meeting their soul mate right then and there. But that’s exactly what happened and the journey they started on is nothing short of amazing. Some things just make sense, and these two and their friendship which grew to be so much more, is just that, as we learn in this film by Bear Hands Media. They made it official with a celebration planned by Keely Thorne Events and we’re left in awe, with no doubts in the power of fate.

From Bear Hands MediaAmanda and Ryan have known each other since the second grade. They were friends forever until one day when they finally realized that they were soul mates all along. You can tell by the way they look at each other that their years of friendship has built an unbreakable devotion for each other. It was a pleasure to witness a union of this magnitude. One that was nothing short of meant to be.

Sail Off Into the Sunset with This Nautical Inspiration Session

Inspired by the picturesque sailboats at Dallas’ White Rock Lake, this incredible team of creatives (including Anna Smith PhotographyJenny McCannCallie ManionChelsea Q. White PhotographyKate Pease, Ben Q. Photography and Allen Tsai Photography) created a nautical dream with ethereal touches throughout. From the two-piece blue wedding dress to the delicious cakes from Sugar Bee Sweets, this inspiration session is almost too good to be true. See it all in The Vault!

From Anna Smith PhotographyOur Haystack Film Gathering community in Dallas is thriving. We have such a great and talented group of photographers that love to get together and collaborate on shoots, sharing ideas, talent and camaraderie unparalleled with other cities. Currently there are about 20 of us and we are growing! For the summer gathering, Anna Smith Photography and Silver Lining Events put on an amazingly gorgeous sunset nautical inspiration shoot at the Dallas White Rock Lake. The inspiration came from the idea to use one of the sailboats at the lake and combine that with a neutral palette of elegant, light and classy hues of blues and greens. The florals used were: cream vendela roses, cream football mums, cream privett flowering, cream peonies, spray roses cream majolica, Nigella blue, Millet green, salad leaf and silver dollar eucalyptus.

The color palette Silver Lining Events used was white, cream, shades of blue and natural greens. We chose an ethereal bridal gown from A and Be Bridal that was a two-piece corset and skirt. The corset had a light blue underlining and accented our style oh-so-well. The groom’s style was impeccable in a white tuxedo from Culwell & Son in Dallas. Vella Nest Floral designed bouquets and centerpieces with bright shades of green and white.

The table designed by Silver Lining Events was decorated with help of ChrysQ Handcrafted hand-dyed linens for a natural seaside look. We scattered sand and seashells throughout. Sugar Bee Sweets provided the two delicious-looking watercolor cakes. Bunny and Bear is my absolute go-to stationery and calligraphy company. She is so talented and created stationery and all the calligraphy with blue, green and white hues to match our floral design. We hope you enjoy this gorgeous collaboration!

From the Bride… We visited countless venues in the Austin Hill Country and the Greenhouse was our last stop, because we chose to look no further. Saving the best for last definitely fit here! We were absolutely stunned by the property, the people and the history of the home that was shared with us. The Greenhouse is magical and we felt honored to share our vows in a place where time seemed to slow down.

During the planning process, I was super intentional with the team I built. It was less about people’s previous experience, but more about the connection I felt with them. I am so incredibly grateful to have collaborated with such amazing people who are passionate about the work they do. I felt inspired by each and every vendor while making decisions and I attribute the beauty of the wedding to their creativity!

The natural color palette and overall aesthetic was inspired by the organic beauty of the venue. I wanted my choices in floral, linens and table arrangements to complement the established greenery that was authentic to the Greenhouse with mixtures of blush, ivory, gray and sage. Each bouquet and table arrangement was handpicked by Clementine’s Christin Armstrong, with a mixture of fragile blooms and strong succulent varieties. My bridesmaids’ blush printed and solid dresses were as unique and romantic as the bouquets they picked to carry. The months of decision making contributed to a seamless and intimate day.

The day of is a whirlwind of beautiful moments delicately strung together that are so vivid in my mind. I remember standing under the tent while the catering company set up with my parents and a couple of my best gals. One dear friend presented me with a small box from Tyler. I wore the beautiful earrings he gifted me down the aisle, but the note he wrote me was the icing on the carrot cake!

We felt so much love for each other on our day and this love continues to grow; being married is fun! We hope your process is filled with as many special moments as our experience was during this amazing time!

From Uptown Events… The Greenhouse at Driftwood is a stunning home-turned-venue with two indoor greenhouses connected to the house itself. It was a dream of mine to work there, and I was over the moon when Jordan and Tyler chose me to coordinate their special day at the extraordinary venue.

Jordan and Tyler were kind, organized and excited about their big day which made them a joy to work with. As the day got closer, I spent more time talking with Jordan and really felt connected to her vision for their wedding day. Earth tones, heavy greenery, and modern lines made up their design, matching up perfectly with the Greenhouse’s relaxed, yet elegant, vibe. Tyler and Jordan were married on the back deck of the house under a large tree and surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their cocktail hour took place on a lush lawn allowing guests to walk around the property and through the greenhouses. The couple and their loved ones danced the night away under a tent filled with sparkling lights and departed for their honeymoon to Costa Rica right after! This wedding was an absolute delight to coordinate, all because of Tyler and Jordan.

See The Love Story That Started in an Elevator

If you’re looking for the sweetest meet cute in the whole wide world, then I’d like to introduce you to the dynamic duo that is Steven and Fiona. For their love story? It started in an elevator, and the aftermath? It’s nothing short of stu-hun-ing. From the perfectly pink florals to the shockingly beautiful ceremony, Bethany Erin and Brad & Monica have captured it all to share both below and in The Vault!

“They got on the same elevator. On the ride up,

Steve overcame his nervousness and

talked to the prettiest girl in the world”

From the Groom…It was December 2011, Fiona was assisting with an audit and Steve was working hard on the 10th floor. They both wanted the free lunch offered by the building management to get in the mood for Christmas. They both got on the same elevator going down and up. On the ride up, Steve overcame his nervousness and talked to the prettiest girl in the world. They kept in touch after that fateful free lunch, and at one point they lived one block away from each other in Addison. After Steve and Fiona both worked their hardest to get the timing right, they finally started dating in 2014. It started with Steve overcoming his nervousness once again and bought Fiona a dozen roses from the only florist open on a Sunday afternoon. Life has been very easy for both Fiona and Steve since then.

From the Bride…Steve and I started to plan for our wedding since the beginning of 2016. We picked May 15, 2016 which is a Chinese lucky date for our marriage. With our busy schedule at work we managed to pick the perfect venue at Marty Leonard Chapel and Fort Worth Club in early February. Planning was slow before I met Bethany; she’s a talented photographer and super nice person. I liked her immediately after the first meeting. She gave me so many vendor recommendations and style suggestions, which helped my wedding planning go much more smoothly. I booked our florist and wedding coordinator shortly after I booked Bethany. With the help of Katie, my wedding coordinator, Steve and I got a really good deal for DJ service. During the whole planning process I enjoyed looking at Pinterest and found my inspiration there. The venues we picked were beautiful even without wedding decorations so I thought that would be less stressful. However, two days before the wedding I was so stressed out because I realized I forgot to count some flower decorations. I reached out to my florist, Lauren of The Backyard Bouquet, and asked her if she could do more flower decorations and a garland for the wedding car. Despite it being a last minute request Lauren finished everything perfectly! Katie and Bethany worked very closely to ensure that Steve and I would have an executable timeline for the wedding day. Thanks to their hard work everything went smoothly on the day of. I didn’t need to worry about a single thing, and just got to be happy and pretty. Our wedding day was filled with best wishes, happiness and laughter, but I remembered that when I was waiting outside of the Chapel to go down the aisle with my dad, I suddenly felt nervous but once the door opened and I saw Steve’s grinning face the nervousness went away. Another moment I remembered was when Steve and I were standing at the altar and listening to our minister announce us as couple, I was so touched by the meaning of marriage. I know that life will have ups and downs, but together we will conquer everything and live a wonderful life.

From The Bride…Brandon and I met while attending University of Houston. Our first date was with a group of friends on a limo ride to the Texans football game, we’ve been inseparable ever since. Brandon was an Art Major and I was attending the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. I grew up in the restaurant business; my family owns Amerigo’s Grille, an Italian inspired restaurant that has been in The Woodlands, TX for 27 years. I have worked in the business since I was 16 and I continue to work as the PR & Events Manager. My family has been members of The Club at Carlton Woods since I was a little girl and I always dreamed of having my wedding there.

The inspiration for the wedding came when Brandon’s business brought him to Santa Barbara. We were inspired by our visits to Santa Barbara’s wineries and the beautiful scenery and romantic vibe. Our amazing photographer, Nancy Aidée, flew there to take our Engagement photos among the cliffs on the beach. Upon returning to The Woodlands, I connected with my wedding planner to begin the creative process. What started as imaginative ideas turned into incredible realities that were brought to life by the tireless effort of Keely Throne Event’s, Ashley Appling.

The day began with severe thunderstorms in the morning and by the ceremony the clouds had cleared to reveal a beautiful blue sky to welcome the 200 guests in attendance. The ceremony was on the outside terrace overlooking the world famous Jack Nicklaus golf course. The guests were seated on the manicured lawn. The wedding party walked down the center brick pathway to the sounds of a live four string quartet, Divisi Strings. Giant stunning floral arrangements in garden urns on wooden pillars surrounded the space where Brandon & I said our vows.

Upon completion of the ceremony the guests walked up the stairs and into the Bears’ Den lounge for the cocktail reception. Events in Bloom provided white Victorian furnishings including a white tufted ottoman and French divans. Hors d’oeuvres and champagne were passed with silver embossed monogrammed napkins.

The spacious elegant reception area was graced with tall ceilings, wooden beams, and French style bronze chandeliers draped in greenery. The floral arch ways and wooden farm tables with cross back chairs added to Romantic winery feel. White wooden box planters framed the front of stage and flowed with flowers. Pale pinks, peach, and organic greenery were common colors of the floral centerpieces and long cascading table runners. The white dance floor was personalized with a large gold embossed custom wedding monogram, designed by Kara Anne Paper, who also designed the exquisite invitations and stationery. In lieu of a guest book we had an impressive three liter 1997 Silver Oak wine bottle for the guests to sign with gold pens.

To kick off the reception, our Jewish family friend Dr. Gottleib gave a toast and had Brandon “Break a Glass” on the dance floor. Dr. G stated, “That will be the last time you ever put your foot down!” The crowd went wild and the party went into full swing. The groom loves bourbon so we created “Brandon’s Bourbon Bar” on the veranda as a specialty bar featuring different types of bourbons for the guest to enjoy. Action stations including a Beef Tenderloin carving station, Scallops station, and Pasta station added to the enjoyment of the evening. A live Sketch Artist created personal sketches of each guest and their date to take home as a wedding souvenir. Live Event Paintings, Susan Moss Cooper, came in from Dallas and set up her canvas next to the dance floor to sketch a portrait of our first dance. We danced to Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones performed by The Argyles, a famous wedding band from Austin, TX. The highlight of the evening was when all the guests gathered on the dance floor with confetti sticks filled with “Flutter Fetti.” Confetti fell from the sky as Brandon & I cheered and danced with our closest family and friends. Mini pepperoni pizzas, the groom’s favorite, were butler passed on silver platters as the midnight snack. We left with a sparklers send off in a 1965 white Rolls Royce. This special weekend of friends and family reflected our personalities perfectly and will forever be engrained in our memories.

From The Bride…I look back on our wedding and can genuinely say that it was my dream wedding- it feels like a fairy tale, and I am so thankful for how everything came together. From the start, Jonathan and I most importantly wanted our wedding to glorify God and give thanks to Him, showing how it was He who brought us together and is the center of our relationship. And I had a clear vision for our wedding early on. I knew I wanted it to be very natural and elegant- neutral tones as a theme throughout the wedding (I’ve always said that my favorite color is beige!), combined with the natural beauty of the outdoors. I wanted an elegant and natural aesthetic, stylish yet timeless and with touches of our personal story.

Living in Austin, we wanted to make sure we utilized the beauty of the greenery and water that surrounds us here on a daily basis, and Laguna Gloria proved to be the perfect venue for the look we were desiring. As an interior designer I love every aspect of design, so I truly enjoyed the entire planning process. In all of the selections for our wedding, from my dress to the flowers to the long table and music and chandeliers, I loved the process and felt so fortunate to plan such a gorgeous wedding.

My wedding planner Ellen Westcott was also an extraordinary help in the process, as she continually pointed me in the right direction, was incredibly organized, and was a calm and supportive presence throughout the entire process.

A key piece of our wedding and story was our son Levi. I adopted Levi as a single mom from the Congo when he was 2 years old, and he and Jonathan fell instantly in love with each other when they met and instantly had the bond of father and son. Jonathan’s and my first date was a day at Disneyland with Levi, and we had a whirlwind romance from that moment on. We knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together within our first month of dating, and we were engaged within 3 months. Our dreams really did come true at Disneyland! One of our favorite details in the wedding was our Groom’s Cake by Sweet Treets Bakery, which had a Disneyland theme. Levi was the ring bearer in our wedding, and he stood up with the groomsmen during the ceremony. Jonathan and I wrote our own vows for the wedding, and in his vows Jonathan stated that he loved Levi with all his heart and “from this day forth, we will be a family and he will be my son.” I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house at that moment (including my own)!

Three Branches Floral helped to create the gorgeous natural beauty and greenery that I was looking for in our wedding, and the venue itself created the most gorgeous backdrop that we could have hoped for. Ashley Bosnick was our photographer, and she captured the beauty of the night in the most spectacular and breathtaking way.

Another favorite detail of ours was that we ended the night by riding off in a boat on Lake Austin,
with Andrea Bocelli’s Say Goodbye playing from the speakers. We got to ride across the lake just the two of us after that, having the lake completely to ourselves at that hour, still playing Andrea Bocelli. I think it was the most romantic moment of my life!

We are so thankful to God for bringing us together, and to think that we were able to celebrate our marriage with so many of our closest family and friends in our dream wedding is almost too good to be true. Every detail came together so perfectly to make our wedding the culmination of my hopes and dreams since childhood. The only thing I wish I could have changed was that I wish it wasn’t all over so quickly! But now the best part of it all is that I get to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams.

Playful + Glam Palm Springs Garden Party Inspiration Shoot

With a vision of “a glamorous garden party with the nostalgia of Palm Springs,” this all-star team of creatives dreamt up this tropical bridal shower editorial we want to dive right into. Palm leaves and pineapples, bright colors and signature cocktails — this shoot from Charla Storey Photography, The Southern Table, Southern Fried Paper, Bella Acento, Layered Bake Shop and Natalia Issa is a summer dream.

From Charla StoreyOur vision was to combine a glamorous garden party with the nostalgia of Palm Springs. Graphic elements of palm leaves, pineapples and whimsical flamingos are featured throughout the party accessories designed by Southern Fried Paper.

“Our team was thinking what we would all love for a summer bash and we kept coming back to gold pineapples and palm leaves. We wanted to make these special details that are so Pin-worthy easily available for every celebration, no matter the size. We just launched our Tropical collection on etsy, which features all of the paper and party accessories from this adorable editorial like laser cut drink stirrers, napkins and invitations. Our favorite is the laser cut palm invitation folder. It adds a unique wow factor for any tropical event!”

The Southern Table brought the vibrant colors of summer with a garden twist. “We combined tropical elements like ginger, palm leaves and citrus with our garden favorites of coral charm peonies, poppies and sweet pea.”

Natalia Issa styled Amanda in side-swept perfection with a headpiece of freesias and ferns. Her coral tone lip accented the look perfectly. Our chic bride-to-be opted for a modern blush jumpsuit perfect for a poolside party.

Charla Storey Photography captured the lightness and vibrancy of our editorial collaboration. When you have a team this talented, the only thing left to do is celebrate the beauty! And our signature cocktail is the perfect recipe for this summer soiree!

Cocktail recipe: Mango Sunrise: Champagne, grenadine and mango, layered for a festive ombre cocktail.

This Couple’s “Backup” Wedding Plans Turned Out Amazing

It takes a special kind of couple to roll with the punches, especially when that means finding a new venue just months before the big day. Their backup location, Garden Grove proved to be a pretty incredible “plan B” and Jenna McElroy told the story behind her camera lens. Go see the celebration unfold in The Vault!

From Jenna McElroyCallie and Ian have an inspirational, contagious kind of love. When they were told mere months before their wedding date, that their original wedding venue would not be finished being built in time for their April 9 nuptials, the couple took everything in stride. They knew that everything happened for a reason, and that no matter what happened with the wedding details- that becoming husband and wife was the most important part, and that would happen venue or not.

They found a new venue- Garden Grove- and this was the very first wedding that the venue hosted. All of the vendors came together and helped to create a special, wonderful, and memorable day for this couple to remember and cherish forever.

The couple chose the quaint and charming venue of Tiny Boxwoods for it’s elegant yet rustic vibe. Tiny Boxwoods was transformed into a garden oasis with lush florals and simple tablescapes.

Katy got ready in her childhood home and wore her mother’s actual wedding shoes. She looked stunning in her Mori Lee gown which was perfectly complimented by her bountiful Bows and Arrows bouquet. Saturday Morning Movie: Intimate Texas Garden Wedding

Rain couldn’t keep the bliss away from these two beautiful brides. Smiles never ceased even as umbrellas popped open. Surrounded by loved ones, these ladies said “I do” in a small, intimate garden and celebrated all night away with food, wine and lots and lots of glowing candles. I had happy chills and a warm heart watching this clip from Nathan Willis Wedding Films and I’m pretty sure you will do. Happy Saturday all :)

From Nathan Willis Wedding Films… Lauren and Raley were one of the sweetest couples we have ever worked with. They met in college and have been together for ten years! They were so happy on their wedding day, and they didn’t even mind a little rain, even with an outdoor ceremony. Lauren said the rain made her feel like she was in “Pride and Prejudice.” It was a small, intimate garden ceremony, followed by a beautiful candlelit dinner, where their family toasted them, and everyone laughed and cried. We couldn’t have been more honored to be there to capture all the love and laughter.

From the Bride… Being from Texas, I couldn’t have thought of a more perfect place to get married then a barn out in the open country. I looked at a few venues before this one but nothing quite struck my eye like the White Sparrow Barn. The whimsical feel that the natural wood floors and whitewashed walls made it impossible for both my husband and I to turn down. I knew the open field surrounded by oak trees would give me the nature driven ceremony that I had imagined and the rustic details of the barn would promise me a fairytale reception.

I wanted my flowers to stand out so with the help of Lindsey, my planner, I chose to use a pop of black in my arrangements as a way to make the event unique and add some formality to it. Our flowers were a garden style mix of silver dollar eucalyptus, cafe au last dahlias, burgundy ranunculus, white anemones, and patience garden roses. Frou Frou chic ribbon was added onto my bouquet for a more romantic touch. The head table was lined with mixed greens and pops of big blooms. I wanted each floral piece to contain loose greens with big blooms because I knew it would accent the beautiful ceremony space.

My dress I knew had to be one of a kind. I shopped for months to find something unique enough to stand out to me. After multiple trips to different bridal stores I fell into the arms of the Bridal Boutique in Lewisville, TX. The dress was featured in the store and my eyes were immediately drawn to the unique lace. There was something bold yet timeless about it and I knew it was the one before I even had the chance to put it on. On top of that I knew the dress was made by the stores private line therefore it wasn’t going to be accessible to many making it even more special.

The day of the wedding was everything Rhett and I could have imagined and more. We couldn’t have asked for things to go more perfect than they did. We wanted our guests to feel our love and have the best night of their lives and we think we did just that. It was a dream come true.

From Jen Dillender PhotographyUnder a tree adorned with beautiful flowers, Alexis and Cason tied the knot this past April. With a heavy emphasis on hospitality, they welcomed their loved ones with lush greenery, delicious food, and entertainment. The bride’s style was simple and elegant with the perfect details to complete the day.

From The Bride…We envisioned a very personal and heartfelt wedding. We wanted it to be a community event where people felt involved and included. We hoped that people would walk away feeling that our wedding was not solely about us but rather something bigger than us. We wanted people to know that our love for each other starts with and is animated by God’s love for us. We also wanted to create a joyous and memorable experience for all of our family and friends.

The style we envisioned was whimsical, soft, and ethereal. We wanted the colors to be soft and muted with lots of organic elements. We chose the flowers, the gown, the signage, the cake and all the decor touches to flow with the overall style of the wedding and venue. The Barr Mansion is already a gorgeous wedding venue, dressed with beautiful trees and flowers so we wanted the details to compliment it’s natural beauty rather than overshadow them. One of our most favorite details was the banner behind the cake. My talented maid of honor created a calligraphy back drop for the cake table with one of our favorite love poems on it. It added such an elegant touch!

Our favorite moment during our wedding was the surprise gospel choir that sang at the recession. Being an April fools wedding, we wanted the wedding to be full of entertaining surprises for the guest! Another surprise we had during the reception was a choreographed flash mob and dance off between the bridesmaids and groomsmen. We also had Gourdough’s, a local Austin gourmet doughnut truck, bring their signature airstream trailer at the end of the night for a late night treat!

One piece of advice I would give to brides to be is to enjoy each step of the wedding journey. It’s easy to get into the mindset of “once this is done, then I’ll be happy.” Each stage of the wedding planning process has it’s joys and challenges. Don’t dwell so much on the challenges that you fail to experience the joys!
