A Luxury Lakefront Destination Wedding in Horseshoe Bay, Texas

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

From the bride… I wanted something that captured the elegance of old Hollywood with elements that made sense for a winter wedding. We started with emerald green, white, and hints of gold, and the design webbed from there.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We are from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Most Baton Rouge brides have large weddings at the local country clubs. We wanted something smaller and more intimate yet beautiful. When we came across Horseshoe Bay, we immediately knew it was the perfect destination for our nuptials. We also like that it is in Texas, and we are starting our lives together in Texas. We went with Old Hollywood glamour done in a modern way. The lakeside ceremony was adorned with acrylic ghost chairs, a custom acrylic aisle with our monogram, and lush white florals we carried throughout the design. The reception ballroom was transformed with custom white draping, a custom monogrammed dance floor, and lighting for a romantic ambiance. The tables were draped in embroidered linens, and we brought in gold and emerald green velvet chairs to elevate the design.” We also fused our Texas destination into the storyline. We stayed on theme the entire weekend, from a Texas BBQ-themed rehearsal dinner to handing out cowboy hats at the reception.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

David told me we were going out to eat. He drove me to his parent’s house, where they have 100 acres, a horse, cattle, and ducks. He told me to “come look at their new horse.” I opened the back door, but there was no new horse. There were rose petals and a cute little setup where he got down on one knee. I was in absolute shock but also kind of knew it was coming.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

I went into dress shopping wanting something beaded and sparkly. When I tried this one on by Rita Vinieris, I fell in love immediately. It was classic yet sexy, and the gloves topped it off. It really encompassed the old Hollywood bride vibe I was going for. Pedram Couturefrom New Orleans made the bow for me, the bow did not originally come with the dress.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Choosing bridesmaids’ dresses is no easy feat. They all tend to look the same, and let’s face it, they aren’t always the best-looking. However, I found these to be understated and classic. The dresses came with a small bow, but, to mirror mine, I had my aunt create larger bows for these dresses.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Typical Louisiana weddings, where we are from, are a buffet of seafood, pasta, etc. Being in Texas, we chose to have a BBQ for the rehearsal and a sit-down steak dinner for the reception. To top off the night, we had my and David’s favorite snack passed around: cinnamon rolls, sliders, and fries.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Classic, old Hollywood was the inspiration throughout the entire design process. We wanted something not too over the top but elegant and lovely. I love the night sky, so the draped lights encompassed a starry night.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

I spent days trying to figure out my wedding cake. This is another detail that tends to look the same at every wedding you go to. So, we decided to do something different and have the illusion of flowers floating around the cake. Our florist made a spiral of baby’s breath encircling the entire cake.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple had a solo vocalist singing worship during the ceremony.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The couple are from Louisiana, as were most of their guests. They had a second line and sparkler exit leading them to their lakeside boat send-off.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The bride wore a custom jumpsuit for her second reception outfit made by Pedram Couture from New Orleans, LA. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The theme of the deep emerald green. I had a hard time choosing my color palette. I was initially adamant against green, but it turned out to be so elegant. From the reception dinner chairs to the ribbon around the menus and programs, to the bridesmaids’ dresses, it really pulled everything together. My something borrowed was even a pair of diamond and emerald earrings.

Sultry + Romantic Spanish Elopement Inspiration

While this may be an inspirational shoot perfect for all our romantic readers out there, this style and every image from Stephanie Brazzle is so, so good, I’m begging someone to replicate for their own real wedding. All you need to do is dial up Meggie Francisco to plan and design all the details and get La Tavola and Bella Acento on board for all beautiful linens and flatware. Because it’s obvious; when these vendors come together, magic happens. See it all before your eyes in our VAULT right here!

From Meggie Francisco… Locación, locación, locación: Sultry and romantic, with creamy terra cotta arches, Escondido Golf and Lake Club in Horseshoe Bay, Texas is the perfect spot for a Texas couple who would love to do a Latin-inspired destination wedding, yet prefers to keep the festivities local.

Our palette of apricot, dusty rose, and rich greens was pulled directly from the surroundings at Escondido. To bring this vision to life, Posh Floral masterfully composed a table centerpiece chock full of roses, orchids, ranunculus, and a variety of greenery, all overflowing from a sturdy golf compote. The place setting is comprised of fantastic finds from all sorts of places – the pale pink china is from Crate and Barrel, and we found the delicate pink Mexican glassware tucked away on a busy shelf at World Market. We topped the milky La Tavola linens with a sheer tattered scarf to add texture and character to the look.

The romantic yet daring Ines di Santo gown combines delicate lace with daring lines for a sexy yet demure bridal look, which is complemented by an organic, free-flowing bouquet with abundant greens and pale apricot and blush florals. The elegantly crafted statement earrings and classic round-cut rose gold engagement ring complement the look of simple glamour. For a touch of destination-inspired fun, the Aruna Seth shoes feature ornate beading with a tiny touch of turquoise, reminiscent of warm ocean waters.

Terra cotta ink and tile place cards bring earthiness and substance to the design while tying in the surrounding architecture, while the romantic calligraphy ensures that the feel remains airy and festive.

We are excited to share this shoot with readers of Style Me Pretty to show that if your destination wedding dreams are dashed, with the right design choices, it’s possible to achieve the same sense of passion and adventure to your home state!

An Artist’s Elegant Bougainvillea-Filled Wedding

This flower girl’s face is the exact opposite of mine when I first saw this wedding. Because this Texas day from Loft Photography and Something Blue Cinema is full of beauty and a style we’re calling Southwestern elegance. With a fresh yet sophisticated color palette and gorgeous bougainvillea everywhere the eye can see, it’s safe to say we’re in love. And thanks to incredible vendors like Pearl Events AustinMarquee Event Group, and Jenny Yoo, each and every detail is perfect. See all the pretty in THE VAULT!

From Loft PhotographyBeing that Brittany is a talented artist, we knew her wedding day was going to have well thought out & lovely details! We adore the rich colors that she chose for her wedding, and the bougainvillea around every corner at Escondido fit right in with her unique bouquets and centerpieces.

From The Bride…My wedding day encompassed Mediterranean architecture with Tuscan landscaping meets romantic Texas Hill Country! The wedding had contrast and pops of colors with a primary color palette of fuchsia and teal mixed with secondary colors of grey, mauve and taupe with a side contrast of black and white tuxedos and a checkered black and white dance floor. There were many different textures to play off of for the tablescapes: deer antlers with gold hombre spray paint, grapewood branches, textured teak wood tables, copper chargers, romantic candlelights, mix of glassware with mercury candle votives and teal olive oil vases, airplants and succulents native to Texas. Family heirlooms also played a part in our wedding with my parents 70’s champagne goblets and ring bearer pillow, my grandmother’s jewelry and my mom’s tennis bracelet.

Colorful Wedding at Escondido Golf Club

We don’t normally start our features with desserts, but when we’re talking about a cake THIS gorgeous, exceptions must be made. Whimsical

From Emily Moise… Meredith and Christopher were married in an afternoon ceremony atop a grand staircase in the shiny sun light in front of 300 friends and family. They had been dating for many many years so the friends and families were all very close to the couple.

Meredith describes her look as the Kate Spade/Wildflower wedding with an obsession for everything personalized with a monogram or something meaningful to their families or themselves as a couple.

They gave out custom decks of cards with the watercolor pattern from their invitation since they always play hearts and spades with their families. They had two linen cloths from her grandmother’s wedding on the guest book table with old family photos displayed on top and the other was placed on the cake table. The guest book itself was 2 planks of wood that a family friend would later make into a bench for their future home’s backyard. Facts about the couple we displayed on cocktail napkins, custom cornhole yard game, horseshoes, monogrammed wine barrels used at the special wine bar, and many many more.

Escondido Resort Wedding from Cory Ryan Photography

I’m just going to come right out and say it, I love this wedding with all my being. My love affair happened the moment I laid eye on the gorgeous images from Cory Ryan Photography and then just kept growing stronger and stronger with every gorgeous detail. It’s all around lovely, and you can see just what I am gushing about right here.

From Cory Ryan PhotographyLeia and Michael’s swoon-worthy wedding took place in Horseshoe Bay, TX at the lovely ESCONDIDO GOLF & LAKE CLUB. Thanks to the team at LIV BY DESIGNS, who took care of all the special details and brought together a gorgeous day that the families will always remember. As Leia & her father walked down the grand staircase of the Great House, Michael wiped away a single tear and smiled the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. After their ceremony overlooking the green, everyone moved over to La Hacienda to celebrate. A photo booth by SAY CHEESE, an awesome band from Dallas called NEW GROUND, and a custom cigar rolling station from BOBALU CIGAR CO. were just a few of the special touches for the guests. In addition to the gorgeous cake (with gluten-free layer for the bride!) from SIMON LEE BAKERY, this southern girl could’t help but appreciate the jars of banana pudding as well! YUM! And the final exclamation point to the reception was when Michael hopped on stage with the band and belted out his own song – eventually grabbing Leia onto the stage for some fun! As the couples getaway car departed, the couple was surprised with an awesome fireworks display along the sides of the road. Wow, talk about an exit!!!
