Natural, Organic Summer Bridal Inspiration

Ethereal and elegant with a wonderfully organic vibe, this bridal inspiration caught on film by Matt And Julie Weddings with styling by Lindsey Brunk is just pure magic. And those perfectly imperfect florals from Bows And Arrows? There are no words. See the entire shoot here.

From Matt And Julie WeddingsOur inspiration for this shoot was a casual, laid back summer bride but keeping her modern and on trend. Lindsey Brunk styled our bride in an unexpected two piece ensemble by Theia. The slimline crepe skirt was perfectly complimented by an embellished crop top featuring an ethereal cape. We love that the cape gives the movement and feel that a veil usually does, without being traditional and a lot more unexpected. Tracy Melton created a beautifully natural look with soft bronzey, sunkissed makeup and a lived-in, textured fishtail braid. Andi Jameson (Bows and Arrows) created a bouquet that looks lush yet could have been freshly foraged. We visited a Nature Preserve in Plano, TX for an organic, summer backdrop.

Bohemian Texas Engagement Session

Inspired by one of the most iconic couples, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, this free-spirited Bride and her handsome edgy Groom have stolen my heart with their bohemian-loving ways. Hello, gorgeous blooms, floral crown and peace sign from Posh Floral Designs! And did you see those adorable signs?! It’s all boho perfection in the form of this pretty gallery from Jennefer Wilson.

From Meggie FranciscoWhen I first met Amber and Clinton, I fell in love with their adoration for each other – and with their style! Amber is such a boho babe with an incredible fashion sense, and Clinton has more edge, more rock n’ roll. He’s actually a traveling Videographer for DJ group Caked Up! Their chemistry immediately reminded me of one of history’s most iconic and romantic couples: John Lennon and Yoko Ono. We took this inspiration and ran with it, pulling out all the stops with modern “protest” signs, a tribal bohemian picnic in the middle of the hills, and a moody creek setting (which inspired some seriously steamy shots!). It was so much fun to watch these two celebrate their engagement and I can’t wait for their wedding in October at the Dallas Arboretum!

From The Bride…Clinton and I first met in elementary school. I thought he was the cutest little baseball player! We “dated” while I was in 4th grade (he was in 3rd). I don’t even know if we had even held hands! We just knew we liked each other and each of us thought the other was cute. I remember he gave me his baseball card with a sweet little note. We stayed friends throughout elementary and middle school, and then parted ways while he went to Sachse high school and I went to Rowlett high school. Our mutual best friend, Katie Wynn, reunited us in spring of 2009. We were both single and things just clicked immediately!

On our 4-year anniversary, Clinton had the whole night planned. We went to dinner at Kobe steak house in Addison and then stopped at the Nylo Hotel downtown to drop off our bags and have a drink on the roof top while watching the sunset. We ended up “running into” our photographer friend Cagle up on the roof top. He said he was supposed to shoot a model, but she had totally bailed! He asked if he could grab a couple of pictures of us just for the fun of it since it was our 4 year anniversary. He started posing us, and while we were laughing and being sexy for the camera, Cagle asked us to do one last pose that he “always does with all of his couples.” He told us to put our backs to each other for a few shots, and then asked us to turn back around. When I turned, there Clinton was, on one knee, asking me to marry him! I was speechless and completely shocked. Of course, I said YES!

Bridal Session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

Truth be told, my one and only wedding regret is failing to book those bridal portraits. It’s that oh-so-special time to twirl around in your dress and capture that downright gorgeous “glow” before the Big Day, but thankfully I now get to live vicariously through shoots like this beauty from Feather & Twine. It’s everything a bridal session should be, and you can click right here for soooo much more.

From the Bride… I was never the girl who dreamed about her wedding growing up. I’m terrible at decisions and wedding magazines stress me out, but when I got engaged it’s like something altered my DNA and I became the most decisive bride known to man! I saw a dress on Pinterest, stalked the links until I found the designer, called a store and a few days later I bought it.

When I put it on after my last fitting, I felt wonderful. It was so comfortable and flirty. I love the outdoors, so I knew I wanted to do my bridals somewhere unique and in nature. We settled on a nature preserve in Plano and had the most wonderful day. My desire for the day can be summed up in three words: natural, lovely and fun. Kelsey and Talon made it that and so much more. Yes it was windy and I was eaten alive by chiggers, but it was the first day I really felt like a bride.

Walking down the aisle is such a clear and perfect memory for me. I was incredibly calm and comfortable, which surprises me to this day. The dress made me feel so elegant and allowed me to focus on what really mattered that day. I’m thankful I found a dress that was comfortable and made me feel like me. It will always be my most favorite outfit choice :)

From Ivy WeddingsStacy and John had an intimate southern wedding at the bride’s childhood church. Stacy’s vintage taste was reflected in her choice of dress, shoes, hairpiece, and bouquet. The bride sprinkled details throughout her wedding and reception that reminded everyone of the couple’s elegant, classic sense of romance. Stacy and John’s wedding day turned out beautifully, and the Texas weather played along perfectly with a warm, sunny afternoon for the wedding, and a cool, breezy evening for the reception and the fun goodbye for the bride and groom!

From the Bride… Our wedding was a fairy tale.  It was a medley of family and laughter and, of course, love.  We hoped that the culmination of all of the planning and prayers would present an adequate illustration of the merging of two very smitten people.  It was a bit wild, certainly whimsical and, when possible, glittery.  And, all in all, it was decadently sweet just in the simple fact that at the end of the day we walked heart to heart and hand in hand into a little taste of happily ever after.

To Everything There Is A Season ~ Julie & David

To Everything There Is A Season … what a great starting point for planning a wedding!

From Kristin at AK Event Design in Dallas, Texas

David and Julie were a fun couple to work with. They loved bright colors and wanted their event to be FUN! We incorporated the “Four Seasons” into their save the date, invitation, programs, menu cards etc. For example…on their invitation, the belly band said “A Time to Love…” The menu cards said, “A Time to Celebrate.” One of the fun things ~ David gave all his groomsmen black converse to put on at the reception. We also used Flutter Fetti at the end of the night during the last dance. It made a great picture and the guests had so much fun!!

AK Event Design

Julie and David were married in August at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. The reception followed at The Four Seasons Resort & Club in Dallas.

from the beautiful bride, Julie …

“To everything there is a season…

David and I met at college when we both applied for a co-director position to lead a service organization at Baylor University our respective freshman and sophomore years. David was a long haired, eccentric freshman who knew no strangers, and I was a clean cut, reserved sophomore who was not the least bit interested in “his type.” But, as fate would have it we were selected to co-lead this service organization and through our service became the best of friends and eventually more. Guess opposites really do attract!! At our end of the year banquet, David presented me with a charm that symbolized the four seasons. It was round and was divided into four sections, each with a cut out to symbolize a particular season. A flower. A snowflake. A tree. A sun. He gave me this charm because he felt like it was the perefect representation of the seasons we’d been through together as leaders that past year.

David and I, gluttons for committees, served the following year on a focus group that helped to design a new community center on Baylor’s campus. And what was our inspiration? None other than the four seasons charm. Everything from the light fixutres to the builidng’s name, Seasons Cafe, was centered around that charm. Three years later, it was the eve of my law school graduation and David surprised me with an elaborate proposal that included a walk down memory lane on Baylor’s campus and ended with him on his knee in the middle of the transformed community center, Seasons Cafe, that we’d helped design so long ago.

Thus began yet another season of our life together! When we’d narrowed our potential reception sights down to a handful…the Four Seasons was a no-brainer winner!”

Julie and David’s classically beautiful wedding was followed by an equally stunning reception at The Four Seasons Resort and as noted by Kristin, followed through with the “four seasons” inspiration …
