An Al Fresco Wedding Under the Malibu Sun

The premise for Nick and Jennifer’s wedding day? Gather their people from across the country for an unforgettable night in Malibu. The oceanside setting made for a dreamy locale, while the details – including each guests’ gold lantern – tied it all together. Ether & Smith told the story through her lens, and this West Coast love affair is bound to be your new favorite.

From the bride, Jennifer… Nick and I envisioned an intimate wedding with our family and close friends, and we wanted the mood to be light and fun for our guests. We wanted to be outdoors by the ocean so the Adamson House was the perfect fit. One of Nick’s best friends, Ryan was our officiant, and he struck both heartstrings and laughter during our ceremony. Each of our bridesmaids and groomsmen came from out of town and we were so happy to have them by our sides. Seeing our friends and family from many different places, together in one place, was incredible. Dancing and singing the night away with them under strings of lights is something we’ll never forget.

For planning brides, if you are on a limited budget with limited time, get help! I was lucky to have great friends and family who helped DIY much of the decor, my friend Charles was our DJ, and my friend Lisa managed the delivery of all of the cakes for our dessert bar. Emma from Ether & Smith was phenomenal – I cannot say enough good things about her; not only was she an amazing photographer but she helped us plan, had great recommendations, coordinated seamlessly with the other vendors, and made us feel like we were in great hands from the very beginning of the process. Even guests and the wedding party shared the positive sentiments.

Jennifer from Kelly Zhang Studio went above and beyond and made me feel so at ease, and Centia from Petal Floral swooped in last minute and wowed us when it came to flowers. Timothy at Flat Iron Catering was a true partner, not only in delivering a great meal, but also in providing candid feedback on the food choices, and total willingness to assist on the big day even outside of the kitchen.

We feel so thankful for the love and support of our family and friends and the great help from everyone involved in putting together our special day and could not imagine a more special and memorable experience.

The Wedding Makeup Every Single Bride-To-Be Needs

If there’s one day you want to look absolutely flawless, it’s your wedding day. So we’re partnering with the foundation experts at Dermablend Professional for a little intro to a lineup of beauty products that you honestly can’t live without. It’s three makeup-artist approved methods for that seriously stunning look you’ve always wanted, tested and approved by us. Guys, in the world of wedding makeup, these are total game changers.

START WITH FULL-COVERAGE FOUNDATION

It all starts with a fabulous base and when it comes to choosing the right foundation, trust usDermablend really hit this one out of the park. It’s packed with high-performance pigments that provide twice the coverage of typical foundation, but instead of leaving skin cakey or tight (like other beauty products), it gives skin a natural finish. We’re sort of crazy for the ultra-light feel on your skin (read: we love it), and the redness reduction is beyond awesome. In other words? This foundation is ready for its close-up.

MAKE IT LAST ALL DAY (AND NIGHT)

So you’ve booked your makeup artist for the morning, but need your look to stay put for pictures all night. Ladies, we’ve all been there. That’s why a setting powder is key for making sure your look lasts. Available in three shades to disappear into any skin tone, Dermablend’s cult-favorite Loose Setting Powder is a little slice of wedding makeup heaven that locks in your foundation, so you can wear it from photos to the last dance and not worry about smudging or transferring to your dress. Keep it on hand to fix any shine issues for photos without having to worry about flashback or messing with your makeup. Now you can cry those happy tears during your vows. (Seriously – it doesn’t. move.)

DON’T NEGLECT THE NECK DOWN

With all of the hustle and bustle that surrounds your Big Day, it’s easy to forget that your face isn’t the only place that needs a little beauty treatment. Take it from the professionals – if you’re wearing anything strapless or skin-baring, you’ll want to extend your face coverage to other skin-exposed areas. So when we tried Dermablend Professional’s Leg & Body Makeup, we were blown away by all of the awesome things it can do. Cover blotchiness and imperfections – and enhance those features you love – in no time at all. Yep, you can conceal those stretch marks, hide sun spots and even cover up tattoos (!), so the only thing your guests will notice is your smiling face and gorgeous smile. Oh, and those accidental tan lines? Gone. Pro beauty tip: Get a slightly darker shade to accentuate your collarbones, bust or arms with a subtle body contour. Trust us, you’ll thank us later.

Do yourself a favor and check out the lineup of amazing beauty products that Dermablend Professional has to offer. With multiple shades, easy application and skin-friendly ingredients, you honestly can’t go wrong when it comes to your wedding makeup. You’re just a few steps away from the perfect look – we promise.

3 Ways to Ensure You + Your Wedding Hair Stylist Are On The Same Page

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day and communication with your hair stylist is key for getting the look you want. Read on for three ways to ensure you and your hair stylist are on the same page:

Observe Styles Together
“Showing your hair stylist photos of what you like and do not like is very helpful. Include photos to show what you mean by ‘boho’ or ‘sophisticated’,” says Megan Garmers, Founder and Director of NYC-based MG Hair and Makeup. After over twenty years of experience, she knows what it takes to work well with a bride and achieve the look the bride wants and needs for her big day.

This will ensure you do not have any misunderstanding about the terminology you are both using. Showing photos will also give your stylist the ability to advise you on your choices and let you know how that style will look with your hair color, length, and texture.

Begin Planning Early
Meeting with a stylist months in advance will allow you to look at many photos, and try out a few styles to narrow down what is working for you, and what is not.

“One of the biggest mistakes brides make are usually related to waiting too long to meet with a stylist and begin hair trials. Rushing at the last minute can be very stressful and may lead to you making a decision that you later regret,” Garmers says.

Be Honest & Realistic
You may have seen a beautiful hairstyle on Pinterest that you want to recreate but it could be unrealistic for your hair length, color, or texture. “Unfortunately brides will try to use specific accessories or hair extensions to make the hairstyle a reality and it becomes frustrating for the bride,” Garmers says. Being honest about your hair and having an open dialogue about what needs to happen to create that hairstyle will lead you to the right decisions.

With the help of a hair stylist you trust, you will have the beautiful hair style you envisioned for the big day. Garmers encourages brides to stay true to who they are. “Some brides do not fit into one box of a wedding theme and that is okay. Today you can be an individual and show off your personal style. A good stylist will be able to marry your wants and your needs to help you pull off the look you envisioned for yourself,” Garmers says.

Style Me Pretty Contributor – Kylie Thompson is a freelance writer, blogger and marketing professional from Grand Rapids Michigan, where she resides with her husband. When she isn’t working, you will find her exploring Grand Rapids’ newest culinary establishments with her husband, or traveling up and down Lake Michigan’s coast.

What a Bride Needs to Know Before Hiring a Wedding Stylist for Her Big Day

You’ve spent hours on Pinterest, creating a mood board for your wedding, but now you don’t know where to begin to take that idea of what you want your wedding to look like and how you want the day to feel and make them into a reality. That’s where a wedding stylist comes in, but many brides aren’t sure what exactly a wedding stylist does. So we asked Kiss From Fleur to break it down for you. She covers everything from a stylist’s responsibilities and how to know if you should hire one to what to look for when choosing your stylist and how to work together with them.

Photography: Cornelia Lietz

Difference

So what exactly is a wedding stylist, and how is this different from a wedding planner? Your wedding planner organizes, sources, manages, checks, controls, and trouble-shoots everything that needs to be done before, during, and oftentimes even after the wedding. A wedding stylist, on the other hand, should have a background in design and is much more like the makeup artist of your wedding – responsible for everything that makes you and your guests feel amazed and carries you away into another world. The stylist will match your wedding aesthetic with your personal style, from choosing the colors and fabrics, arranging the flowers (or working with the floral designer to execute their vision), creating the ambience, styling the tablescape, and more.

Photography: In Love by Bina Terré

Advantages

Engaged couples often do not have the time to plan and organize the small details of their wedding, yet these details are what make the difference in the event! Some couples do not know much about – or may not enjoy – choosing color palettes, acquiring stylish decorations, or putting together exceptional designs. Hiring a wedding stylist will make your life so much easier, because stylists create a bespoke concept to fit your personal style. A great stylist will ask you about your vision, wishes, tastes, and preferences, taking the time to really get to know you. They will then use this information to match you with the perfect vendors to make your wedding dreams come true. Just choose a venue that you love, and the stylist will treat it like a beautiful, white canvas which they will personalize for you. Hiring a wedding stylist will take away so much stress, allowing you to be sure that everything – from the ceremony to the reception, from the stationery to the tablescape, from your wedding dress to your florals – will create a harmonious look and experience.

Photography: In Love by Bina Terré

Responsibilities

Some couples allocate responsibilities to their family members or friends to save the money they’d spend hiring a stylist. But that also means not everyone will be able to enjoy and experience your special day to the fullest, as they will have to fulfill certain tasks during the wedding day. Handing over the full responsibility to the stylist will allow you, your friends, and your family focus on what’s important during the day, to not be stressed, and to enjoy your celebration while you rest assured that everything visual will be just the way you wanted it to be.

Photography: Cornelia Lietz

Concept

With passionate creativity, artistic aesthetics, and a unique appreciation for fine arts, your wedding stylist will approach your wedding concept with the goal of reflecting you as a couple and to encapsulate your distinct style and character – whether you are having a lavish feast or an intimate elopement.

Photography: Cornelia Lietz

Individualism

Just like each couple, every wedding is different from another. That´s why a great stylist will focus on composing visually engaging, signature style elements that mirror your personalities. Furthermore, stylists are “mood makers” evoking emotions and setting the scene for your individual vision. You should seek out a stylist who will design a bespoke wedding for you, without forcing upon you a ready-made style package full of non-negotiable elements.

Photography: Cornelia Lietz

The Single Source

It’s important to hire a wedding stylist with experience in design, so that he or she has the ability to understand what it takes to execute the concept. The stylist will choose the right vendors who will be able to achieve the requested design and who will understand the vision and process to guarantee you the perfect overall look. From flowers to cake, from stationery to venue decoration – you´ll get all that and even more from a single source – your wedding stylist!

Photography: Cornelia Lietz

Personal Connection

Make sure to research your wedding stylist thoroughly, asking for recommendations from friends or other vendors and then meeting with the stylist in person. You want to look for someone you feel connected to! It is very important that you are on the same page and feel comfortable working and spending time together while planning.

This Wedding Proves There’s Nothing Like Summer in the City

This summer soirée is hitting all the right notes. It’s somehow mastered the blend of relaxed SoCal style, whimsy (those bouquets!), and edge. And to make it quintessentially Los Angeles, the day took place at a converted smog shop! Sara Weir Photography captured photo after lovely photo, so head to the full gallery to see more.

From the Bride… We wanted our day to feel effortless, simple, and casual. We wanted our guests to be relaxed and able to enjoy each other. We really liked the vibe of SmogShoppe. We felt as though it complemented our personalities. Photography was also on top of our priority list, and SmogShoppe had so many different backdrops from its gorgeous vertical succulent wall to the vintage furniture and design elements.

The day went seamlessly with the help of our coordinator, Tiffany Carr. She was able to orchestrate all our vendors, getting them, our guests, and us to all the right places. Joyce from Tatum and Charlie brought our floral design vision to life. Every moment of the day was beautifully captured by Sara Weir and her team.

It’s cliché, but we felt that our wedding was literally the best day ever. We got to do everything we wanted from enjoying each other and greeting each and every one of our guests to eating our dinner and taking all the photos we wanted.

This Wedding Inspiration Is All Things Beachy + Bright

We love the fun story this beachy wedding inspiration session by Belle Destination Weddings & Events tells. What better way to start your special day than by relaxing by a lagoon in Maui and taking a refreshing dip? After a leisurely morning, the Bride changed into her lacy, open back gown and coin-trimmed veil for a romantic ceremony by the ocean followed by a tropical and bright reception. Melia Lucida Photography captured the magic, and there’s more waiting for you in the Vault.

From Belle Destination Weddings & EventsAlthough we come from the land of eternal summer here in Hawaii, we still love to celebrate the season with bright, cheerful blooms and pops of fun, unexpected color. When it came to designing a tabletop for this gorgeous oceanfront venue on Maui’s north shore, we collaborated with floral designer Mandy Grace. We dressed the long table in hand-dyed linen in the prettiest shade of pink by Adorn. A pale pink silk gossamer runner gives soft movement to the table. Mandy composed three whimsical floral arrangements of Japanese ranunculus, poppies, and acacia housed in rustic terra cotta vessels. Copper candelabras by Anthropologie add a touch of shine.

For the Bride’s bohemian look, we couldn’t resist Rue De Seine’s Love Spell collection of gorgeous lace gowns. The coin veil was our absolute favorite for a beach Bride. We marked the oceanfront ceremony site on the lawn with a row of hot pink bougainvillea blossoms. The property features a really spectacular lagoon, the perfect spot for a cocktail party poolside. We hope you are inspired to jet to the Hawaiian Islands for a bright soiree in nature! Aloha.

5 Must-Try Summertime Mocktails for Pregnant Mamas

Sure, alcohol may be a no-no this summer since you’re growing the cutest little nugget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sip on something just as flavorful and refreshing. Your cocktail shaker doesn’t have to get dusty in your cabinet either.

Mocktails make it easy to get the flavor of a fun cocktail without the booze, especially when served in a festive glass. Here are 5 refreshing mocktails for pregnant mamas to sip on this summer.

Kick it up
Your cute little peanut isn’t the only one kicking this summer. If you’re craving something a little spicy, kick up any lemonade with jalapeno peppers and in-season, juicy watermelon. To make a large pitcher of jalapeno watermelon lemonade to share with family and friends, puree one seeded and diced jalapeno pepper, half of a seedless watermelon, 2 cups sugar, and 2 ½ cups of lemon juice. Mix with 12 cups of water, let the mixture sit for at least 10 minutes, and then strain through a fine mesh sieve before chilling.

B-B water
Say it out loud: be-be… baby… water. See what we did there? When plain, ol’ water won’t cut it, add muddled blueberries and basil to any unflavored sparkling water with a little honey to sweeten it up a bit, of course. For one serving, you’ll need 3-4 basil leaves and around 8 blueberries, ½ Tablespoon of honey, and enough sparkling water to fill your fancy glass. Muddle the basil, blueberries, and honey in a cocktail shaker before adding your sparkling water and giving it a light swirl to mix the flavors. Pour through a strainer over ice in your favorite cup.

Cool it down
Mint, cucumber and coconut water combine for a thirst-quenching, heat-relieving cooler in this mocktail. Thinly slice two small cucumbers and chop ¼ cup of mint leaves before adding them to a pitcher. Pour in 4 cups of coconut water into the pitcher and add sugar and lime juice to taste. Allow the flavors to meld in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before imbibing this non-alcoholic drink.

Floral and fruity
Dust off the cocktail shaker and your martini glass for this floral and fruity mocktail. Elderflower cordial, chilled apple juice, and the refreshing taste from mint leaves combine for a drink that will make you feel fancy and quite sophisticated, despite the lack of alcohol, while sipping it in the sun. In a cocktail shaker, add 1 ounce elderflower cordial, 2 ounces ice cold apple juice, 3-4 mint leaves, and a little bit of ice. Shake, pour, and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Make it virgin
We know that there is nothing better than chips, salsa, and a cool margarita, but since we can only chow down on the chips and salsa and not the margarita, make a virgin margarita instead. The key is to take the time to fresh squeeze the oranges, lemons, and limes before combining them. Add 2 ounces simple syrup, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, 1 ounce lemon juice, and 1 ounce orange juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Give it a good shake and pour into that fun margarita glass you didn’t think you’d get to use this summer. Muy sabroso!

Summer Soirée Wedding Favors That Surprise + Delight

From the invitations to the décor to the getaway, you want every detail of your wedding weekend to “wow” your guests (we totally get it!). But creating a wedding weekend that brings your love to life and pleases your guests is no easy feat. Surprise and delight your nearest and dearest with favors that they’ll actually love! The sweet memories of your wedding day will be sure to linger long after you say “I do.”

Sip on This
With summer comes longer days and refreshing cocktails. Give your guests a taste of your signature summer-sipper with cocktail kits to go. Think mini bottles of champagne and St. Germain, mini bottles of tequila and margarita mix, or Jack Daniels and classic Coke bottles personalized with your monogram. Even better is homemade wine or limoncello. Add a recipe tag or custom label and your guests will be toasting to you from afar.

Keep them Cool
Waking up the morning of your wedding to blue skies and sunshine is every bride’s dream come true. But the summer months can also give way to blazing heat, a passing shower, or even a chilly ocean breeze. Help guests stay comfortable with umbrellas, fans, or even pashminas to stave off any unforeseen weather. And if your ceremony is under the glaring sun, custom sunglasses will keep guests’ eyes shielded and looking cool. Your guests will thank you!

Summer Snacks
Transport your guests back to their childhood days of summer with nostalgic treats. A s’mores kit they can use back at home will have them reminiscing about their time around the campfire. And a DIY candy and dessert bar stocked at the end of the night serving your summer favorites, like saltwater taffy, cotton candy, and popsicles, will leave your guests with a sweet ending they won’t forget.

Give Back
If physical favors aren’t your thing, making a donation in honor of your wedding guests to a summer-themed charity will surely show your guests you care. Did you attend the most magical summer camp? Make a donation towards financial aid for campers who can’t afford to attend otherwise. Or even sports equipment and games at the local Boys and Girls Club or YMCA. Volunteering your time in honor of your guests at a charity race you run in each summer is another great option. The possibilities are endless, and your guests will love the personal sentiment.

3 Tips On Creating a Tech-Friendly Marriage

Computers and smartphones have become an integral part of today’s romantic relationships. We text about our day, post date night pictures on Instagram, and Netflix and chill when we want to stay home.

Although recent technological advances provide numerous options to stay in touch with our partners, time spent on devices is also a source of tension in many relationships. According to a study by the Pew Research Center, 18% of 18-29-year-olds have argued with a significant other about the amount of time one of them spent online, and 42% said their partner has been distracted by their cell phone.

To guard against these types of relationship problems, couples should negotiate some ground rules for using technology.

Not Everything Should be Posted

For many couples, getting engaged is such an exciting event they want to post pictures of everything from the proposal to the wedding. Although it may be tempting to share it all, some experiences may be more special because you were in the moment instead of documenting it. Also, be mindful that your fiancé may not want to see the chronicles of their life in your feed. When in doubt, ask before you post.

Another reason to be careful about what you post is that employers often check social media when evaluating prospective employees. That picture of your drunken fiancé might not be so funny if it stands in the way of a great new job.

To Share or Not to Share Passwords

According to the Pew Research Center’s study, two-thirds of internet users who are married or in a committed relationship have shared passwords to one or more online accounts. If you and your partner agree on this approach, it may alleviate some concerns about time spent on the phone and computer. On the other hand, you may believe that the level of trust in your relationship makes password sharing unnecessary.

One factor that may impact the password decision is your policy on connections with exes. If, for example, you choose to friend or follow exes, your partner may feel more comfortable knowing your passwords. Whatever choice you make, the key is to be sure about the decision. Once you give your partner access to your phone or social media accounts, it will surely raise a red flag if you later change your mind.

Take Time to Unplug

While it’s essential to determine your guidelines for using technology, it’s just as important to decide when you’ll put down your phones and focus on each other. Depending on schedules, you may want to spend some tech-free time together before work, over dinner or at bedtime.

Additionally, there are two instances when your partner should absolutely receive your undivided attention. No matter how long your lovemaking lasts, it’s not a time to check your phone (a habit 10% of people have). Another time you need to shut down your devices is when your partner needs you. If he or she has experienced a loss, a disappointment at work, or is upset with a friend or family member, you need to be fully present to listen and provide support.

Ultimately, for all the relationship challenges it can create, technology works best when we use it to stay connected to our partner.

Engagement rings aren’t just coming in the traditional solitaire, three-stone or halo setting anymore — designers are getting creative. The perfect example? Karl Lagerfeld‘s Tour Eiffel Collection, inspired by the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Vintage-Inspired

Everything old is new again, at least when it comes to engagement rings. Some of our favorite jewelry designers are looking to the past for inspiration for their newest masterpieces, like this Asscher cut beauty from Vtse Jewelry. From the art deco-inspired halo to the unique baguette, this ring is as good as it gets!

Oval Stones

Oval cut center stones have been trending for a while now, and this trend isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it’s just getting bigger. Rahaminov Diamonds introduced the exclusive “Movál,” an elongated oval cut stone that gets its name from the marquis and oval cut diamonds. We’re predicting that this exaggerated cut will be everywhere, and we’re very excited about that!

Mixed Metals

If you can’t decide between platinum, rose gold or yellow gold, why not combine two of your favorites? Thankfully, you’ll have plenty of options, like this Sylvie Collection stunner.

Gold + Rose Gold

Like oval cut stones, the rose gold and yellow gold trend is going absolutely nowhere. Why? Maybe because it’s flattering on all skin tones, or maybe because the gold tones feel fresh and romantic, just like this stunning ring from Rahaminov Diamonds. Whatever the reason, we’re not complaining.

Gemstones

If you’ve been keeping up with millennial news, chances are, you’ve heard that they’re ditching traditional engagement rings. Whether they’re buying gemstone rings, like this gorgeous Erica Courtney Tourmaline one, because they can be more cost effective, or because they’re more unique than your traditional e-ring, prepare to see a lot more colored ring selfies in your Insta feed.

Unique Halos

We love a halo for it’s sparkle and ability to make any diamond look bigger, but we really love the new halos we saw at JCK, like this Evelyn H. Jewelry scalloped double halo featuring fancy yellow diamonds and a fancy yellow diamond center stone.

Clean + Classic Nautical Wedding in the Hamptons

A day spent in the Hamptons is always a good idea. Especially when it involves a styled-to-the-nines wedding day photographed by Brklyn View Photography. Think soft and classic with a decidedly nautical vibe, not to mention the prettiest blush Weddington Way bridesmaid dresses you ever did see. Hop to the gallery for even more of this waterside love fest from start to finish.

On a perfect day in the Hamptons, Catherine and Rob were married at the Montauk Yacht Club in front of their closest family and friends. The stunning bride wore the most amazing modern elegant wedding dress from Vera Wang. The groom looked ever bit the part in his custom made tuxedo from Berel and Co. and Ferragamo velvet loafers.

Catherine and Rob have a wonderful sense of style and humor – they love to laugh and have a good time! The couple shared their first look at the Montauk Yacht Club before heading over the to the Montauk Lighthouse for epic portraits with sweeping views of the ocean. Rob gave Catherine a truly stunning wedding gift, a custom diamond necklace made with diamonds from his Mother’s wedding ring. Their ceremony took place outside on the great lawn at the Montauk Yacht Club just as the sun was beginning to set. It was an emotional, touching and joyous ceremony filled with so much love and laughter.

Guests were treated to a cocktail hour outside overlooking the bay before moving inside the Farm Ballroom for the stunning reception. Karen Lenahan Designs created a whimsical Hamptons retreat inside the ballroom with her use of greens and flowers. The Artie Stuart Band from Hank Lane Music brought the house down! Absolutely no one sat down the entire reception!

The newlyweds shared a first dance to Bruce Springsteen and danced the night away with everyone they love so much.

Scroll down to see the entire “Aw-worthy” interaction!

“My wife and I got married last February, and during the photo shoot this little girl and her mom happened to be walking by. The little girl thought my beautiful wife was the Princess from her favorite book (the one she’s holding).”

“My wife gave her a flower from her bouquet.”

If this isn’t the cutest thing you’ve ever seen, we can’t imagine what is!

6 Refreshing Signature Cocktails For A Summer Wedding

Summer is the perfect season for treating your wedding guests to a refreshing signature cocktail. Whether you’re saying “I Do” on a beach, in a barn, or in your own backyard, your guests will appreciate a beverage that feels light and fresh during the warmer months! Here are a few ideas for cocktails to serve at your summer celebration.

Sparkling Spiked Lemonade

Nothing says summer like a chilled glass of lemonade, and this is one with a little extra oomph your guests will love. Simply add a dash of orange juice, a shot of bourbon, and a few fresh mint leaves to a glass of lemonade.

Cucumber Collins

“A Cucumber Collins is the perfect cocktail for a balmy summer evening,” said Alina Isambert, the president of Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event Design. “The cucumber juice, pressed in-house, is a cool, hydrating summer beverage and mixes beautifully with the other ingredients for a light, tangy, slightly sweet drink.”

The drink combines freshly pressed cucumber juice with fresh lemon and lime juice, Rosemary syrup, a dash of vodka and a garnish of mint, lemon and lime.

Tropical Rum Punch

Having a destination wedding? This smooth drink would be perfect to sip while watching a sunset on a beach!

Combine Malibu Red Rum with mango rum, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and lemonade. Garnish with some lemon peel twists or pineapple slices.

Grilled Stone Fruit Sangria

Hogan Popkess of Main Course Catering suggests this alternative to a heavy, hard booze cocktail. This Sangria has a base of crisp, dry Riesling followed by grilled peaches, apricots, and plums, peach liqueur, a splash of rum, and is finished with club soda to give it a bit of spritz. Anything fruity makes for a perfect summer drink!

French 75

Some guests will always prefer champagne at a wedding, but it’s easy to liven up the classic for a fun summer cocktail! Create a French 75 by adding a half-shot of gin, a tablespoon of powdered sugar and a dash of lemon juice. Garnish with a lemon peel. This refreshing twist on simple champagne would be a fun take for an upscale summer reception.

Bourbon Arnold Palmer

To bring an Arnold Palmer from a luncheon beverage to a wedding cocktail, just add a splash of bourbon and a splash of peach liqueur to the half-lemonade and half-iced tea drink. Arnold Palmer’s are already a great summer drink, so adding just a bit of alcohol will quench your guests’ thirst and bring the drink up a notch.

An Unexpected Way to Wear Your Something Blue

Say hello to your something blue. This ethereal bridal session features delicate veils in unexpected colors. Our favorite? The robin’s egg blue! Or for a more subtle look, the soft pink hue is equally dreamy. Created by Mallory Dawn Photography and a team of talented vendors, this romantic photo shoot is sure to inspire!

From Mallory Dawn PhotographyThe inspiration behind this shoot lies within the romantic, delicate details of embracing the soft femininity of a Bride while celebrating the blooming seasons of spring and summer. Lush, pastel florals with a vibrant pop of color, alluring, ethereal design, and flowing fabrics within a naturally lit loft space encapsulated the essence of feminine beauty.

We captured the intricate details of the elegant chiffon and lace dresses by Jillian Fellers and Jacklynn Bridal, which was paired with vintage rings by Trumpet and Horn, floral adornments, and delicate veils of unexpected hues designed by Kayla of Love Sparkle Pretty. Romantic hairstyles and natural, gorgeous makeup by Nicol Artistry created a classic look to amplify tender beauty.

We further wanted to showcase this aesthetic within the bouquets and centerpiece created by The Blooming Bud, which was made of soft and vibrant florals. We created a simple and classic tablescape by styling china and candlesticks by Sundrop Vintage. Guests names and invitations were the finishing touch, written in fine calligraphy by Alley & Co.

One of my favorite, unexpected details was the crown of florals and soft gray veil draped on a vintage mannequin by Sweet Salvage Rentals. This shoot brings together an array of the season’s best attributes along with touches of romantic styles and the organic beauty of womanhood.

A 3rd Anniversary at the Couple’s Favorite Museum

Here at SMP, we believe every anniversary is worth celebrating in a meaningful way. So kudos to Tina and Chase for ringing in three years of marriage with a whole lot of fun, and no shortage of style. They took a trip to their favorite museum and brought Nicki Metcalf along to photograph the day. Cheers to Tina and Chase, and the many years to come!

From the bride, Tina… This month we celebrate three years of wedding bliss. On our anniversary we have a tradition that we love to reminisce about our wedding day, look through photos and discuss our favorite memories we’ve made from this past year. Some of our favorite memories from this past year include getting our sweet golden retriever, Magnolia, renovating our back deck so that we can eat dinner outside when the weather is nice or just relax outside while we tell each other about our days. Several fond memories also include us traveling to new fun places we were able to unplug from work and truly enjoy each other on interrupted while exploring a new city and their local eats. Although we no longer live in the city – we love to visit often with our pups. Some of my favorite Saturday mornings involve packing up the pups, picking up breakfast and coffee from Captain Buzzy’s and walking around together.

Chase has been instrumental in helping me see that life is meant to be lived and that we work to live, we do not live to work. We bring out the best of each other. I am so thankful to have found someone that is supportive, loving, adventurous, strong and incredibly thoughtful. We truly believe that marriage is not 50/50… But rather each of us giving 100%, 100% of the time.
