Rustic Elegant Wedding Inspiration at RiverOaks Charleston

Lauren Peele caught my eye with this gem awhile back and Beargrass Gardens Florals & Events are basically my new floral crush (can you blame me!?) but this shoot stands for itself. Lauren describes RiverOaks Charleston as both elegant and earthy, and that description couldn’t be more on point, and that combo, along with a color palette I can’t get enough of, is what’s causing me to pin perfect pic after perfect pic from our Vault today – join me right this way!

From Lauren Peele… I find nature and environment so very inspiring. The location of the wedding can play such a huge role in the overall mood of the wedding day, which ultimately determines the experience guests have. Darci, of Beargrass Gardens, and I wanted to create a shoot that would inspire brides to use the environment to help influence the overall design and feel of their big day.

We decided to shoot at RiverOaks, in Charleston, South Carolina. RiverOaks Charleston is both elegant and earthy, which made for the perfect backdrop for the overall story of our shoot. Darci incorporated hues of pale pinks, crimsons, caramels with accents of blue which all complemented the environment. Our models gorgeous auburn hair and the copper used on the tabletop also help tie together the overall aesthetic. All of the elements used in the design of the shoot helped to enhance, not overpower, the natural beauty of RiverOaks Charleston which is what we would love to inspire real brides to do.

This Brunch Spread Will Have You Rethinking Your Easter Plans

Easter and a delicious brunch spread go hand in hand and Event Prep + Gardenview Flowers are serving up a pastel version that will inspire many a floral-filled tablescape come April 1. Little potted tulips with guests names, a brunch board that puts a seriously fun twist on charcuterie and a cake sporting bunny ears are all a part of the lineup. See all the sweet details behind this celebration captured by Amanda Collins right here.

Easter is the perfect holiday to gather around a table with family and friends and enjoy the renewed energy that Spring brings. A color palette mixed with soft pastels and pops of color help to bring this floral infused gathering to life. Miniature terra cotta flower pots served as our place cards and allowed for a fun favor that guests could take home with them. Fresh eggs were used as the vase filler for our beautiful floral arrangement – which was no doubt at the center of attention on our table! Our Brunch Board (a fun twist on a classic charcuterie board) was created by mixing desserts & brunch staples like donuts, mini waffles, pancakes, macaroons and of course – some Easter candy! Guests were also able to enjoy a gorgeous dessert display made up of a Rice Krispie cake with lace bunny ears, truffles, cupcakes and more. This Easter party was the perfect way to celebrate the start of the Spring season!

Classic Chicago Wedding at the Rooftop Terrace in Millennium Park

Give me a rich color palette, a killer dress, a candlelit reception plus the cutest crew of littles you ever did see, and officially won my wedding loving heart. Add in the planning talents of Bliss Wedding & Events, and Tec Petaja behind the camera and it’s officially next level. Join me in The Vault to see a city celebration done so very right.

From Tec Petaja… Claire and Peter knew from the start they wanted their wedding to be an intimate affair. Their goal was to have everyone feeling like dinner guests in their home, in the heart of downtown Chicago. They chose the Harris Rooftop Terrace in Millennium Park for its location but wanted the vast space to become warm and cozy.

To do this, they hired Renny Pedersen of Bliss Weddings & Events to transform the space to achieve their dinner party vibe. Renny partnered with Jesse Deckard, design chief at Bliss, to drop the 30 foot ceiling down to 15 feet to create a soft, warm tented effect.

Candles, seasonal floral in deep jewel tones, herbs in terracotta pots, topiaries, succulents, and grasses covered the mirror-top tables creating a glamourous yet comfortable feel. Natural linens and hundreds of other textures were used throughout the design and the garden-meets-city vibe. It was a chilly Chicago evening, but walking into the reception guests would never know it thanks to the ambiance (and space heaters!)

10 Pretty Things We Love About: Sunshine Weddings – Film & Photo

We’re happy people, we like happy films.” And with that, I knew I was going to really like Sunshine Weddings – Film & Photo. I eagerly dived in to learn more about this husband and wife dynamic duo who capture weddings all around Queenstown, New Zealand. They’ve got all the right info on where to get inspired and how to choose that wedding videographer that best tells your story. See it all below – and head over to their profile to see some of their best work!

1. How did you get into wedding films?

It’s been many years now! Scott started way back in the day with large bulky video cameras and long (pretty dull) documentary edits. A wedding photographer friend of his suggested he should look at wedding videography as at that time there was no one local doing it. He had been a professional skydiver and was looking for a new direction after a bad crash. I have a background in publishing with a design degree and studied photography so it made sense that after we met and married I joined the team. It’s been evolving ever since.

2. What’s your personal motto, or a phrase that inspires you creatively?

Making people smile.

3. Can you describe your aesthetic in three words?

Individual: The biggest thing for us is that every film should reflect the couple’s individual personalities. We don’t work to formulas and never start with preconceived ideas about how it should be. Rather the filming, editing, audio, music and even colour grade will be informed by what we know of the couple and the wedding day itself.

Happy: We’re happy people, we like happy films. That doesn’t mean that’s all they’re about, wedding days are layered events with a huge range of emotion involved so there will possibly be parts in there that will bring a tear to the eye too. However every wedding we have been to is overwhelmingly a happy affair so we want people to simply feel good after watching one of our films.

Real: It can be a challenge to make films that remain about a couple and not about the filmmaker or editor. We film real people, not actors or models so it’s not always about the most beautiful shot or a tricky filming technique but simply capturing and telling the story in an authentic, honest way. Being able to do this really comes down to the relationship and trust we have with couples so this is an important part of the process.

4. What are three things you can’t live without?

1. Family: Our daughter is about to turn three and is getting more interesting and funnier every day (and louder).
2. Good wine and conversation at the end of a long day.
3. Laughter.

5. Where do you find inspiration?

In wide open spaces and time to let the mind wander, think randomly and be open to whatever comes along.

6. What’s your favorite social media platform?

We’re a bit late to it but are getting a little addicted to Instagram. Clients have been loving an extra 15sec Instagram teaser clip and we will be doing wedding photography as well as films for summer 2015-2016 so we are looking forward to putting some new work up.

7. What is a film detail that often gets overlooked, that you wish got more attention in the planning process?

Time. And by that I mean a couple allowing more time on the day to relax and experience the moment. As filmmakers it’s the spontaneous, candid moments we want to capture. And these don’t happen when a stressed couple is running from place to place following a ridiculously tight schedule! It’s your wedding day, stop and enjoy it and we’ll get those moments on film.

8. What do you think is the most important question a client can ask, when deciding who to hire for their wedding’s filmmaker?

Who does your editing? Whether it’s an in-house editor with strong studio interaction and a consistent style or freelancers. Good post production takes a long time and especially for large, busy studios it’s often necessary to outsource editing from a business perspective. However it’s such an integral, creative part of the process. If the editor is a person you develop a relationship with before the day, who gets to know you, films on the day, so knows every moment captured, talks to your friends and family, experiences the atmosphere and emotion of the wedding and sees from first hand experience what you’re all about, it will make for a more personal film. Editing and post-production is where all the puzzle pieces come together and the story starts. Scott edits all our films and when working on a wedding film we both critique throughout the process and ask 1. Does this reflect the couple and 2. Is this a “Sunshine” film.

9. What’s been your proudest professional accomplishment as a wedding filmmaker?

Spending up to 20 hours on a wedding day and travelling home with Scott knowing that we still like each other and respect each others work.

10. When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?

Going on family adventures, beach trips, mountain biking, making stuff, good wine and conversation, cooking… We’re incredibly lucky that we live in a peaceful, beautiful part of the world and have the freedom to do these things.

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Romantic + Rustic Napa Valley Ranch Wedding

It all started with a blind date, so it only makes sense that these two sweeties chose a venue that was still under construction just months prior to their wedding.  Why not take a chance on the unknown, you know?  Well, the proof is in the pudding and this is a day that is as rich in breathtaking details as it is in fun-filled moments.  See it all captured beautifully by Anne-Claire Brun in THE VAULT.

From Anne-Claire Brun… Last Spring, I shot a Triple S Ranch Wedding in Napa Valley. It was the wedding of Laura & David, and it was just perfect.

The venue, still under construction a few months before the wedding, was one of the best I’ve seen. Laura & David got married under the incredible 200-year-old walnut tree and the whole day happened in one place. I love it when everything happens in one and only location, because people get to enjoy it without the stress of going somewhere else + there is more time to actually celebrate and enjoy the day, those guests did! It was a great day and I’m so happy I got to be part of it!

From the Bride… David and I were set up on a blind date by two friends of ours. David called me and suggested we meet at a bar called Churchills in the Castro. After more than a few disastrous first dates, I set my expectations pretty low. We hadn’t shared photos so when I walked in and saw him, I thought he was extremely handsome, and immediately ran to the bathroom to take one last glance in the mirror. Over drinks, we bonded on our close relationship with our parents, our love of travel and of food. After we got engaged, our two friends who had set us up bought us a cake that read “You’re Welcome.”

David planned to ask me to marry him in New York City while we were there visiting my parents. He picked up the ring in New York and asked my dad for permission, but never found the right time. Despite being sworn to secrecy, my dad could barely contain his excitement and referred to us as engaged or married a few times through the weekend. Once we were back home in San Francisco, he surprised me by proposing in our living room while we were in our pjs and eating dinner. Our friends threw us a surprise engagement party/bonfire at Ocean Beach to celebrate.

The planning process was fun and overwhelming—especially for someone like me who is prone to biting off more than I can chew! Two of my good friends got engaged right around the same time as we did so we helped encourage one another and keep each other sane. At times we joked that we could have saved time and money by planning one big, joint wedding. Dave’s priorities were selecting the perfect venue and delicious food, but he encouraged me to take the lead on everything else. My mom and his parents were incredibly helpful along the way. We both knew the wedding would be destination for most of our close friends and family so we did everything we could to make it as easy and as special for them as we could.

The gorgeous venue and time of year (spring) helped to inspire the color choice (peach, blues and yellow accents). Our bridesmaids and groomsmen all looked great in blue, so we selected that color for the dresses and ties. The style was relaxed (like us), rustic (like the venue) and elegant—because it was a wedding after all.

There was so many wonderful moments during the day, but my favorite was when we signed the ketubah (Jewish marriage license) right before the wedding ceremony. It was a more private time with just our rabbi, close family and bridal party. The atmosphere was filled with love and felt sacred and steeped in tradition. We were surrounded by three couples who had been married for a combined 120 years! There was laughter and tears that made us realize just how important and special the day was.

Turning a 1 Bedroom Apartment into a little Slice of Home

In all my years of renting apartments, I’ve learned a few tricks along the way – mostly that no painting is a mere suggestion (right?!?!) and that displaying things you love is a must. Artwork and pictures, decorative pieces that you can carry on to the next space – these all make for a little slice of home no matter if you rent or own. Take SMP Blogger BrideMichaela Noelle Designs’ one bedroom for example. It’s pure perfection and she’s spilling the details on her process from move-in to its current state of gorg all photographed by Ashley Slater.

In May of 2014, I packed my bags to move from California to Michigan to live near my boyfriend, finally ending the (extremely) long distance between us. I’m sure glad I moved, because we are now engaged and planning our September 2016 wedding! You can read all about it today on Style Me Pretty Weddings.

Thankfully my apartment is on the top floor, so it features nice vaulted ceilings. This makes the place feel so much bigger than it really is. I knew I wanted to highlight the height of the ceilings, so I made sure to consider that in my design plan by scouring the web for pretty curtains and some statement art. I started the living room design by pulling together a color palette I loved.

Settling on a seaglass, light blue, neutral and gold, I found some gorgeous fabric to make custom pillows. As a designer, I have my grandmother do all of my custom sewing and upholstering work. She’s an interior designer and seamstress herself, so we make a great team! She sewed my beautiful pillows and helped me find the material I recovered my bench with. The pillows sit atop my couch with a chaise lounge on one side, perfect for having friends over. However, this wasn’t my first couch for the apartment.

When I first moved in, one of the challenges I faced was being patient with myself and the decorating process. Being the Type A person I am, I was frustrated that my apartment didn’t come together over night. In an effort to move things along and be able to start watching TV from an actual sofa instead of a pouf (cute as they are– not so comfy!) I purchased a love seat from a local super store. I quickly realized that when my 6’3″ boyfriend came over to watch TV, the tiny love seat just wasn’t cutting it.

I needed a real couch, something more similar to a sectional, that would accommodate both of us. After selling my love seat, I purchased this Pottery Barn couch with a chaise and I love it! I learned a few lessons. First, good and functional design takes time. Don’t settle for a love seat that semi-works, but isn’t great in the long run. Second, you don’t have to fill a small space with tiny furniture. Funny enough, my current sofa is larger than the first one I had, but makes the room feel bigger!

Other design elements in the living room are the gold curtains, hung high above the windows to accent the ceiling height, a desk I found that fit perfectly in the corner for my workspace, a media console I painted with chalk paint to make it fit my farmhouse style better, and a gallery wall hung above and around the TV to help take the focus off the TV.

Open to the living room is the dining room and galley kitchen. In efforts to create the feeling of separate “zones”, I placed a tall bookshelf in the middle of the two spaces, along the wall with the windows. Without actually dividing the two spaces, it does provide a bit of a visual break. To provide continuity, I hung the same curtains in the dining room, found a beautiful thrifted buffet (great for entertaining storage!) and hung metal wall art above. I also changed out my dining room chandelier. Luckily, my property manager said it was fine, as long as I kept he old one to replace when I move out. The chandelier probably gave the room the biggest impact– it’s just my style, open and airy, and pairs nicely with the other pieces.

I wanted my bedroom to feel bright, cozy, sophisticated and soothing. I had a beautiful custom headboard made with nailhead trim, which took care of the “sophisticated” part. Next, I found the most luxurious bedding on the planet from Serena & Lily. It’s the softest and most gorgeous bedding I’ve ever seen.

Keeping in the neutral palette, I went with a gray duvet, layered with sheets with a nice magenta trim. Pillows are my favorite (you can never have too many!) so I decked out the bed with two euro shams in a fog blue/gray color, two standard shams that pull in the magenta, and then two fun accent pillows tying in the pop of color again. Since the headboard was visually heavy, I knew I needed something light above it. When I found this adorable “goodnight” wire sign, I knew it was perfect! The bedroom is finished off with a beautiful and plush rug, simple nightstand and thrifted dresser.

Finally, after over a year of living here, the place is done just the way I love it. And guess what? Because we’re getting married and moving in together this fall, we’ll be moving to a new, bigger place. Isn’t that how it always happens?! In this design journey, I’ve learned to take my time and really make sure I LOVE what I’m putting into my little home. That’s what makes a house a home anyways– filling it with treasures you adore.

Blogger Bride: Meet Michaela of Michaela Noelle Designs + Engagement Session!

Can we just discuss how adorable this Bride-to-be is!? I mean, not only did Michaela Noelle Designs plan the cutest e-sesh EVER, but today we’re welcoming this sweet lil’ engaged lady to the SMP Blogger Bride family!! To kick things off she’s sharing her tips on finding the perfect look for your engagement session below and we’ve got the pretty that is her apartment on SMP Living! Want more? See it all via The Vault.

From MichaelaHi Style Me Pretty readers! I’m Michaela and I’m an interior designer, author of my design blog, Michaela Noelle Designs, and co-founder of The Bloom Workshop. I’ve always had a passion for interior design, I’m told, as my mom used to find me building floor plans out of jenga blocks all over the floor of my bedroom. I also remember begging my parents to allow me to apply for Trading Spaces multiple times. It’s true! Design and creativity have always been a huge part of my life.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in interior design from Seattle Pacific University and my AA degree in interior design from the FIDM, and after working for a few designers, I started my own business fairly quickly in my home town of the Bay Area, California. I was perfectly content working and blogging, but on an unassuming trip to Michigan to visit my best friend, I was introduced to a handsome boy who became my boyfriend and 2 years later, we’re engaged! We’re getting married in September 2016 and I can hardly believe it. I’m honored to be here sharing our story and our wedding planning process with you– Style Me Pretty is my absolute favorite wedding blog on the block!

The story of how we met is not made up, though it may sound like it ;) As I mentioned, I went on a trip to Michigan in the fall of 2013 to visit my best friend after she had her first baby. She is a wedding photographer and since I’m a designer and stylist, she thought it would be fun to style an inspiration shoot together. Although I thought she was crazy for wanting to put a shoot together 3 weeks after she had a baby, I agreed! I took care of the design details and she gathered our models for the inspiration shoot.

On the day of the photo shoot, we were driving to the venue when Ashley nonchalantly mentioned “one of the groomsmen models I got to model for us is really cute and he is single. Maybe my ploy to get you to move to Michigan will finally work!” I laughed the comment off, as I figured there would be absolutely NO way that would happen, but when I saw this “cute model” arrive at the apple orchard location, I immediately got the butterflies. He sure WAS cute!

I proceeded to spend the rest of the day staying busy with design details and ignoring him, because I was nervous as could be to talk to him. In the only conversation we had that day, I told him I was from California and would be flying back the next afternoon. The shoot wrapped up and we all headed home, but to my surprise McCann was interested enough to get my number and give me a call that night. He asked if he could take me to lunch the next day before my flight left back to California. I was so excited, but also extremely reluctant. All my mind could think of was how in the world this would possibly work, since we lived across the country from one another?!

Needless to say, lunch went really well that day. We dated long distance for 7 months before I made the move to Michigan. About 2 years after we met in the apple orchard for the photoshoot, McCann proposed at the same orchard, making it the best day of my life. Fall and apple orchards officially have my heart. We are so, so excited for life together!

A few weeks ago while we were visiting my family in California for the holidays, we had a chance to take our engagement photos with my friend and amazing wedding photographer, Danielle Poff Photography. Knowing we would be using our engagement photos for our Save the Dates, I wanted to be sure we wore something that would set the tone for our wedding palette.

5 Tips to help you choose an engagement session outfit

ONE | Think about how you want your Save the Dates to look. Do you want them to be traditional, casual, fun, romantic? Choose an outfit that reflects the desired style.

TWO | Set the tone for your wedding. Usually engagement pictures are the first thing people will see once you’re engaged. If you know your wedding colors, perhaps you’ll want to coordinate what colors you wear in the pictures with your palette like we did. If your wedding will be a traditional church ceremony with a formal reception, consider wearing a dress or something more formal to coordinate with that feeling. We chose a more natural location for our pictures, because of the romantic, rustic and eclectic vibe our wedding venue features. We also wore colors that would go well with our wedding palette (more on that in the coming weeks!)

THREE | Be comfortable and wear something you feel confident in! You want to love the way you both look in these photos and chances are if you feel good, you will look great! If you love dresses, wear a dress. If you’re not comfortable in one, then skip it and go for pants. (I am a total dress lover, but it was terribly cold the day of our shoot, so I decided to be comfortable in a dark wash pair of jeans with a lace sweater.)

FOUR | Think about the details! Remember to pair your outfit with accessories– statement jewelry, cute shoes to show off, a watch for your beau, etc. Also remember that your engagement picture day is a great day to get a makeup trial done for your wedding. If you can’t get a trial, do apply a little bit more makeup than usual so you get a polished, defined look.

FIVE | Coordinate with your significant other and think about contrast. To avoid the “matchy” look of the past, wear colors and prints that pair nicely, but perhaps are on different sides of the color wheel. To go bold, consider wearing complimentary colors, or to keep things neutral and subtle, wear different shades of neutrals. One thing I wanted in our photos was a little bit of contrast. I knew putting McCann in khaki pants and a darker chambray button up, paired with my darker jeans and lighter top would provide the contrast I wanted.

I hope these tips help you in choosing outfits for your own engagement shoot! Being a designer, there’s no doubt I’ve had a good idea of what look and style I wanted when it came to our wedding day. To be honest, I spent countless hours on SMP’s Pinterest page to get ideas even before we were engaged! I’m thrilled to be sharing my inspiration, decor ideas, design advice, style tips, favorite vendors and eventually share our big day with you right here. Thanks for reading!

From The Bride…Introduced by our sweet and amazing hairstylist, who we are forever grateful to, I realized after our first date that Dani was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and took a chance and began documenting our first 40 dates. This eventually became part of our proposal.

Born in Chicago, raised in Dallas, I knew I wanted to take our special day to the city that held my most precious memories with family. And for the groom being raised in Dallas with a large family, primarily from Israel, it was important for us to find a way to combine both of our traditions. Luckily my mother and best friend, is a Certified Meeting Professional, so I had the best partner helping us bring our visions together.

The Standard Club, situated in the heart of Chicago’s business and cultural community, became the perfect location to bring family and friends together from all over the world. An elegant atmosphere with large open spaces, beautiful hardwood floors, Baccarat Crystal chandeliers, and historic detail, provided the beautiful backdrop for this celebration. The ceremony was a total dream with a chuppah romantically lit with hanging candles and attended by those closest to us.

There were many features that made our wedding, beautiful, elegant, and romantic, but it was the smallest details that most people were unaware of that brought the most meaning to our ceremony. I wore a garter and our late nana’s watch that my sister wore at her wedding. I carried a handkerchief that belonged to my late grandfather accompanied my something blue. Diamond earrings from my most fashionable grandmother, who also helped select my dream wedding dress, and my gold wedding band created from jewelry belonging to my great-grandmother. In addition, during the ceremony, Dani and I were wrapped in his late grandfathers Talis that’s over 100 years old.

We enjoyed every minute of our wedding, and as everyone says it goes by entirely too fast, we made sure to stop and take in those extremely special and rare moments.

Lastly, there are not enough good things we could say about Shaun Menary Photography. Shaun and Shannon were such a dream to work with, and the value of their photos is beyond incredible. We feel exceptionally lucky to have such a beautiful record of our most wonderful day.

Urban Chic Organic-Inspired Toronto Wedding

The Bride’s beautiful Bliss By Monique Lhuillier gown and the Groom’s impeccable bespoke suit. The urban loft setting. Every detail of this day, photographed by Brandon Scott Photography, is special. From Rebecca Chan Weddings And EventsRobyn and Mike flew in from the UK to get married with 70 of their closest friends and family in Toronto, Ontario. The ceremony took place at the Julia M. Gallery and the reception at the Boiler House Loft, both located in the historic Distillery District of Toronto. Their organic decor and blooms created a beautiful juxtaposition to the raw and urban venues they chose.

We kept the design of the ceremony loose and organic to contrast the clean lines of the gallery, with a birch arch, garland and lots of candlelight. Their friend played acoustic guitar for the processional, giving it an extra personal touch.

Guests then made their way to the Boiler House Loft catered by Distillery Events for an intimate reception. The leafy greens and lush floral beautifully complimented the natural wood tables and white table runners. Hand lettered menus, name cards and seating cards were a nice touch from The Lettering Studio. Being wine lovers, they asked guests to sign wine corks as guestbook alternatives.

Beyond the bride’s beautiful dress and shoes, the groom was dressed to the nines as well in his bespoke tux, dress shirt, bowtie and shoes. All of the guys had their own hand selected fabric lining the inside of their tuxes!

It was such a pleasure for the Rebecca Chan Weddings & Events team to be a part of such a beautiful and thoughtfully detailed wedding!

Vintage Chic Farm House Wedding in Lewisburg

Question: what makes a barn wedding all the more wonderful? Answer: Barn kitties. Yes that’s right, just ask Meghan and Nick why their homestead celebration was beyond words beautiful and I bet you’ll here a mention of some sweet lil’ fluffs. Complete with Forget-Me-Not Vintage Rentals and Anna Reynal behind the lens, we’ve got every second of this sweet ceremony waiting for you in The Vault!

From Forget-Me-Not Vintage RentalsMeghan did an absolutely amazing job at illustrating her wedding day and her vision below, so my description is brief. Meghan and Nick got married at Meghan’s parent’s beautifully restored farm house property. It was such a naturally beautiful property, that even though it poured most of the day, everything still looked stunning. The words english garden, natural and greenery were most commonly used when dreaming up the couples big day. We chose to focus on hues of green, gold and amber as well as elements of natural wood through all of the vintage furniture.

From the Bride… Both Nick and I envisioned our wedding as two equally important parts; first a meaningful and intimate-feeling ceremony, followed by a great party with all our favorite people that ended with everyone on the dance floor for the entire night. For as long as I can remember, when I pictured my wedding I pictured getting married under the walnut tree in my parents front yard. They live on a 200 year-old, 50-acre farm in rural Pennsylvania so it really provided such a perfect and special venue for us. The location was by far the most important element and once we had decided to have an outdoor ceremony/cocktail hour with a tented reception the rest came very naturally. In fact, my sister-in-law’s best friend designed our save the dates and invitation suite using the outline of the walnut tree from a picture I had taken several years ago.

I never really liked the idea of specific “wedding colors” and gravitated more toward identifying colors, tones and textures that worked toward creating a warm, rustic elegance. This ended up being primarily gold and blush tones, shades of sage and mint green, ivories and elements of natural wood and glass. My style vision was loosely based on the idea of a formal dinner or tea party in the middle of the woods, something you might go to in a vintage gown and bare feet. I wanted it to feel elegant but relaxed and embrace the natural/beautiful surroundings of the rural location. We owe Forget Me Not Vintage Rentals for making this even remotely possible.

My parents have several cats that live in the barn, they had had kittens earlier that summer so there were 3 or 4 little kittens running around the whole time, one especially friendly one made it into quite a few photos.

Some of our DIY details included custom cornhole sets and lawn jenga that Nick and his Dad made by hand in the garage and then Nick and I painted. Nick and I also spray painted all of the little gold animals that were seen throughout things, including the seating cards, I wrote all the guests names out and made all the escort cards.

My favorite moment was definitely meeting Nick at the end of the aisle, it was the happiest moment of my life… and he promptly burst into happy tears which developed into laughter when he couldn’t compose himself (very well documented by our photographer). It was happy and funny and very emotional… a priceless moment on so many levels. That being said, the ceremony in general was our favorite part. The rain let up just long enough for us to have the ceremony outside. We didn’t think we were going to be able to do that, and had only set up chairs, no decor, and it turned out we really didn’t need any. It was perfect just as it was, under the tree. We were married by one of my best friend’s mother, who has watched our group of friends grow through relationships and experiences since we were in middle school. She knows me (and all of us) very well and has performed the marriage ceremony for 3 of my best girlfriends, including my maid of honor. I also was able to get dressed in my childhood bedroom and watch my guests arrive from my window (you can see me in the top right window looking out in a wedding dress on one of the pictures of the house) which was so surreal and amazing.

Even if you are the most organized, or most laid-back person in the world, something will not go as you hoped or expected it would on your wedding day. It will still be the best day of your life. I promise. We planned a wedding with a lot of outdoor elements, including lawn games, and Chinese lanterns that we were going to light at night and it rained the. entire. day. EXCEPT, it held off just long enough for us to get married under the tree in my parents yard which was amazing. Even if the rain hadn’t held off we still had a ton of fun dancing the night away with all of our favorite people.

Rainy Day Rustic + Elegant Nashville Wedding

This, my dears, is how you achieve the perfect marriage of rustic charm and classic elegance, an easy task when you have incredible vendors like Cedarwood WeddingsDesigns In Paper and Julie Paisley. And as Julie said, from the lush, autumnal florals and stunning ceremony backdrop to the sweet couple and beautiful reception, “this wedding was beautiful on the eyes and on the soul.” See it all in The Vault.

From Julie PaisleySometimes it rains on your wedding day. All week it was saying 80% chance of rain but Leigh was determined to have her ceremony outdoors. She decided to chance it and we had a break for about an hour. Just long enough for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and a few pictures! My photographer heart was so happy. I loved shooting this beautiful wedding at Cedarwood. From the soft neutral palette of the bridesmaids dresses, the beautiful luscious florals and all the elegant rustic charm of the decor, this wedding was beautiful on the eyes and on the soul. Leigh just glowed and it was quite evident that Shawn adored her. They met through their mutual love of football and are certainly a perfect match. So much love, laughter and fun on that rainy day in October but it didn’t bother a soul.

Elegant Australian Olive Grove Wedding with Shades of Silver

Ladies, never understatement the unspoken power of a well thought out color scheme. Take Rose and Bodie’s special day as proof, because their fifty shades of silver celebration is as good as gold. The perfect pairing of olive grove romance with personalized pretty, we are big time crushing on every single snap Byron Loves Fawn captured. It’s rustic meets regal and you can see it all unfold in The Vault!

Colors

From the Bride… We’ve always loved the idea of celebrating our wedding in the silver shades of an olive grove, so when we found this location the rest fell into place. I unknowingly met our caterer while in New York City where I also found my dress, so when I returned it was a matter of creating a day which radiated a laid back, joyful vibe. Bodie and I wanted to create a day and night where people would come together over food, music and laughter. With organic colour tones seeping through the bridesmaids’ dresses and table arrangements, I wanted my bouquet to have a wildflower look, like they had come from the field next door.

There were so many amazing moments during the day, but we both adored the speeches that were given and a particular song and dance created by Bodie’s cousins. The food we had decided on wasn’t traditional alternate drop but entrees of antipasto platters then unique salads and lamb from the family business as the main. We did this to create excited conversation between strangers and friends. At the end of the night we were overjoyed that practically everyone had a turn on the dance floor and I have wonderful memories of dancing with my new husband and all our friends while hearing nonstop laughter in my ears.

Savannah Engagement with the Prettiest Pink Backdrop

Now that you’ve hopefully eaten more conversation hearts than you can count, it’s time to cap off the Valentine’s festivities with an engagement that fully embraces today’s official color theme: pink on pink on pink. Set in historic Savannah, these lovies sought out the neighborhood’s prettiest backdrops and Rach Loves Troy came along to capture. Head to The Vault and let the lovefest continue.

From Rach Loves TroyDanielle and Josh are recent transplants to Savannah from Central Florida. They moved here after falling in love with Savannah after many visits. Danielle loves all the little quirks and historic beauty of our downtowns beauty. When I asked her what she wanted in an engagement session she wanted quintessential Savannah with a touch of glam! When Danielle told me she would be wearing a floor length tulle skirt I knew we were on the right track. Throw in these two and their adorably fun personalities and the Savannah streets lit up at night and we had it.
