Industrial Chic + Colorful Wedding Inspiration

Looking to plan a relaxed yet supremely chic celebration? Start scrolling because Justine Milton has captured just that. The perfect inspiration dreamed up by Evelyn Clark Weddings, it’s a day filled with industrial details, punchy colors, and a few country details sprinkled throughout. All in all, it’s one gallery you’re going to want to start pinning pronto. Get started in The Vault!

From Evelyn Clark WeddingsThe Calgary area is known for its majestic Mountain scenery and expansive natural space. While the natural scenery surrounding Calgary is stunning, we wanted to highlight urban Calgary for a change. Inspired by a combination of a New York City rooftop garden and a French Country garden, we created an intimate, relaxed setting where a modern couple celebrates their love over a great meal with close friends.

We created a dining area with casual, rustic wood tables, a long wood bench, dark Tuscan chairs and matte black flatware and stemware. These masculine elements were softened with French Country details like simple ivory linens and bright florals with trailing greenery vines to complete the tablescape. Instead of a traditional large cake, we opted for three small cakes with the barest of florals and vines. The calligraphed stationery pulled in the jewel-tone purples and pinks of our garden florals.

Keeping with the relaxed, urban theme, our bride wore an understated gown from Alexandra Grecco and kept her look fresh with effortless hair and makeup. Our groom wore a textured suit instead of a more traditional suit or tux. We let the florals be the showy element of their look, with a large bouquet composed of tons of tumbling, textured greenery and various roses.

No matter your own personal vibe, a New York City rooftop garden or a more sophisticated French Country Garden, with greenery that evokes the relaxed aura of days gone by… this inspiration shoot is loaded with ideas from which every-single-one-of you can pull your own rendition of Industrial Chic + Colorful Wedding Inspo gone wild!!

A Warm & Cozy Neutral Nursery

A great neutral space is so classic and pretty. And as much as we love color, it’s the timeless interiors that often steal our hearts. This warm and cozy nursery designed by photographer and mama, Kate Ignatowski  is the perfect example. It’s a gorgeous space suited for both boy or girl and filled with the sweetest little vignettes like a whole cart of books, a soft rug underfoot, and the family dog too.

In designing Julia’s room, I knew I wanted the space to feel warm and cozy. And while I am not drawn to the traditional girly colors, I still wanted the space to feel feminine. So I incorporated warm neutrals and soft textures. One of my favorite little vignettes is the vintage girls top with its frilly sleeves hanging on an old wood hanger and sweet feather hook. I am also in love with the butterfly mobile. One of my oldest friends made this before seeing the space and it could not have fit more perfectly.

My approach in all the rooms of our home is to splurge on one or two elements and then fill the rest with antique store finds or DIY art. So Julia’s nursery was no different. I am obsessed with this gorgeous crib from Restoration Hardware, and the rug feels heavenly on my bare feet when I am pacing the room to get her asleep. Both were totally worth it for these reasons and their lasting quality.

But I love the unique, one-of-a-kind characteristic to so many other pieces in this room. The rocking glider is an antique store find that I painted and reupholstered to give it a more modern look. And the dresser, with it’s soft antique white patina and paneled sides, fits better than any new piece I could have found.

Some of the other items are extra special in that they were passed down in my family. The old books are my great, great Aunt Winefred’s – that was her real seventh grade reading book! The little doll is one of my own from when I was a little girl, and she sits on the most adorable old rocking chair – another antique store find.

I had so much fun designing this space, and it is honestly my favorite room in the house. I hope Julia loves it as much as I do.

Elegant and Classic La Jolla Wedding

There is no question, California knows how to host a wedding. And this beautiful soiree hosted at the stunning La Valencia Hotel and captured by Alex Warschauer Photography proves that point in the prettiest of ways. With the unmistakeable California light shining brightly over this couple’s gorgeous day, we are left with one stunning gallery of images. See even more in the VAULT.

From Alex Warschauer PhotographySara + Austin’s love for one another is nothing short of pure and blissful – and their wedding was a perfect display of just that. When Alex Warschauer was asked to photograph Austin’s beachside proposal to Sara, is where he witnessed their love for the first time. After taking their engagement photos and seeing that once more, it was more than an honor to be asked to capture their day. For a photographer, there’s nothing more special and memorable that being a part of such incredible moments in ones life.

It was a gorgeous and misty morning alongside the coast of La Jolla, California on the day of Sara and Austin’s wedding, which took place at the historical La Valencia Hotel. Dawned with black and white checker marble floors, Spanish architecture, and an epic ocean view, guests and vendors a like knew that this wedding was going to be nothing short of spectacular.

The ceremony took place overlooking the Pacific Ocean, at one of the finer hours of the day – during sunset. An intimate ceremony of about 125 friends and family members gathered to watch Sara + Austin’s nuptials. Before the ceremony began, the officiant took a moment for the bride and groom to take one last look around before at their guests before they were wed. The officiant announced that this would be an unplugged ceremony which was wonderful news for photographer Alex Warschauer Photography.

The reception was elegantly dressed in white linens with accents of black and midnight blue. A dimly-lit room was the perfect setting for bright pops of white and candle lighting.

The dessert table was filled with white and midnight blue assortments of classical desserts with a modern twist. Beautifully decorated blackberries dusted in shimmery sugar sat atop miniature cheesecake bites. In coordination with the primary colors of the wedding, midnight blue, were also blackberry French macaroons filled with raspberry filing – and a floral cake to drool over.

At the end of the evening Sara + Austin were escorted outside by all of their guests to formally end their night on a sparkly note.

Chic Vintage Library Wedding

Infused with all the little things this gorgeous couple loves most, and overflowing with meaningful details, this chic Library wedding is equal parts stunning and stylish. Beautifully captured by Jeff Loves Jessica, this is a gallery you’ll want to spend some serious time with. See even more in the VAULT.

From Jeff Loves JessicaKerry & John’s wedding day in St. Paul MN appeared effortlessly elegant. The two exchanged vows at the beautiful Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, then held their reception at the James J Hill Reference Library–a stunning venue with 3 stories of wall-to-wall books and immense architectural and vintage charm! The tables were decorated with bold botanical collections of plants and exotic flowers mixed in with candlelight and some of the library’s original study lamps. These two are as tasteful as they are talented–the couple designed, lasercut, printed, and assembled the invitation suite themselves.

From The Bride…I envisioned our wedding to be uniquely stylish, romantic, and tons of fun! I liked the idea of creating a highly personalized experience that represented both my husband and me. I wanted the aesthetic to reflect both of our tastes and experiences. After poring over wedding blogs and magazines, I realized that since all weddings have the same elements, they can begin to look the same in many ways. Like every bride, I wanted ours to have at least some elements that no one had seen as a guest at a wedding before. This meant that I looked for opportunities to be “non-bridal” and add DIY elements at every turn.

Even though it’s usually the reception that gets the most attention, it was really important to us that the ritual of the ceremony was deeply meaningful and highly personal as well. I am Catholic, and so I wanted to have the wedding ceremony in my home parish. It’s where I went to kindergarten through 8th grade, and my parents are still very involved there. A family friend who is a Catholic priest performed the marriage ceremony, and he was wonderful in incorporating personal elements into the ritual that we developed with him. He took extra care to ensure that everyone in attendance felt welcomed and involved, regardless of religious background.

One of the personal elements was a foot washing ceremony, which recalls an important event in Christian scripture and demonstrates that the bride and groom were embarking on a life of service to one another. My husband was really nervous to do this in front of all of our guests, but in the end we were so happy to have included something so meaningful and unexpected.

The other special element was something that we did after lighting the Unity Candle. Usually, the bride and groom take their own candles, and together they light the one big candle. But as our celebrant described, that’s not a natural thing for fire to do–fire doesn’t get smaller, it grows and spreads. So, after lighting the candle together, we took our candles and lit the candles held by all of our guests. This was intended to symbolize how love grows, and to incorporate our guests in asking for their help in supporting our love. It was really beautiful to look out at all of our guests holding the candles and blessing us! (Although I was mostly worried about not setting my dress on fire…)

Of course, after the ceremony came the reception! When we began wedding planning, we started with the reception venue. My husband John is an architect, so when I asked him what he would like in a venue, the thing that came to the top of his list was “a place where people walk inside and are immediately impacted by the structure”. Since we live in New York City, but were planning the wedding in my hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, we looked to my mom for help. She suggested that we look into the James J. Hill Reference Library. Based on the photos, we were both thrilled! There was only one Saturday date left in the 2015 summer (even though it was more than a year in advance), so we were very lucky to get it!

The visual inspiration for the wedding flowed from the venue. I had been admiring lots of outdoor weddings with natural themes, but I changed course once we picked the library! I love a vintage aesthetic, and both John and I love to explore and travel. When we first met, I was working in northern Mexico, and during the course of our relationship, we spent time in a number of different countries (unfortunately, not often together!) For my work as a consultant for a design consultancy focused on international governance and development, I was actually traveling internationally (to Mexico, Indonesia, Panama, Colombia, Georgia, Turkey…) for about 40% of the time that we were wedding planning! So, something related to travel seemed like it would be fun, but that didn’t feel specific enough to me to make a great theme.

Thinking about the simultaneously intimate and grand interior of the library (as well as the idea of partying amidst thousands of books), I liked that it felt like an old-time private club. I thought of taking inspiration from the real-life Explorers Club headquarters in New York City. Founded in 1904, the Explorers Club is a society for the exploration of the world through field research.

The New York City club has the feeling of stepping back in time; it’s full of vintage maps and artifacts that members would bring back from their travels. We thought we could recreate that vintage club feeling for our reception!

John and I both have an eye for visual design, so visual consistency that evoked the theme without being too on-the-nose was a major focus throughout planning. Of course we wanted yummy food and great music (our band was awesome!) for our guests, but it was the visual impact that I was most obsessed with achieving. From that point, I took visual inspiration from
giant tropical plants—in photos, during my travels, and in vintage botanical drawings and prints. I stopped thinking about wedding flowers and only thought about foliage! Originally, I considering skipping florals altogether in an effort to have a more unique and less overtly “bridal” aesthetic. It was really important to me that the decor was romantic without feeling overly feminine–I wanted it to be something that John felt excited about too! Even though I love traditional wedding flowers, the goal for this wedding was that our guests would feel they were transported to an elegant, boisterous event that wasn’t just another wedding. With more visual research, and upon visiting the flower store with our florist, I ended up being quite taken by several gorgeous tropical flower options. We decided that blossoms would be used as hidden treasures among the dramatic foliage rather than as the main event. I worked with our florist to have an abundance of vibrant green foliage and giant tropical leaves. She looked far and wide to source the giant leaves that made such an impact! I also knew that I wanted an impactful bouquet of only one kind of flower. When we couldn’t find garden roses in a color that complemented my dress, my florist improvised and I ended up carrying a gorgeous trio of ginger flower blossoms, which were also an element of the tablescapes. I found out later that ginger flowers symbolize “fiery passion”, so I guess they were a good thing for a wedding!

Rather than pick a traditional color palette, we were inspired by the various greens of the foliage with small floral bursts of deep raspberry and orange color: birds of paradise, ginger blossoms, and velvety celosia cristata (cockscomb), We kept to white and gold when creating accessory elements.

The dramatic tropical decor was a major part of the aesthetic theme, but we wanted to carry through the vintage elegance in the design for all the graphic elements of the wedding, too. We focused on DIY that leveraged our access to digital design and fabrication tools, trying to achieve ultimate personalization without necessarily looking DIY. We designed our Save the Dates postcards, hinting at what was to come by promising “The Start of a Fantastic Adventure”. When it came to designing the invitation suite, I was inspired by the use of multi-colored silhouettes in an invitation suite posted on Pinterest. Unfortunately, I neglected to pin it, and to this day have never found it again! The process began with us taking photos of each other with backlighting to create the silhouettes. Then, John used his design skills to convert the photo into a graphic drawing file. I cleaned them up and positioned them, and they were ready to be laser cut! John designed the template for how we would laser cut the silhouettes and then fold and glue them to construct the external envelope, and I did the legwork to pick the right cardstocks. We spent hours in John’s workshop, laser-cutting hundreds of invitations and then gently erasing the tiny burnt edges for a flawless look. We were then able to use the silhouettes and ampersand as a logo throughout the wedding, including on the wedding programs, seating chart, and laser-cut cake toppers. In the end, we especially loved the “Is that really you two?” questions that people asked! John was a pro at assembling the invitations and I focused on designing the invitation inserts themselves. I found open-source images of tropical foliage and a vintage-inspired typeface, and combined them to create a design that would be printed on white, metallic gold-backed cardstock. Early experimentation with watercoloring the invitations by hand failed miserably. So instead, I learned how to do a watercolor effect in Adobe Illustrator that looked almost like the real thing, and we printed the invitations at home. We also used the same images of tropical foliage on the escort cards to subtly signal which entree the guest had requested. Other details to support the Explorers Club theme included having an antique travel trunk to accept cards, and having guests sign a large sepia-toned world map instead of a traditional guest book. Another DIY element was the table numbers. I found images from vintage field guides that are now in the public domain on the website Vintage Printable. I selected scientific illustrations of tropical fruits and flowers, including many that were included in the wedding foliage. I added a corresponding table number, printed them on cardstock, and voila — another uniquely DIY element that subtly supported the visual theme.

We incorporated the use of digital tools throughout all of our wedding DIY projects, but we took it to the extreme in how we approached our wedding bands. Given his profession, John is amazing at 3D modeling software, so he and I designed our rings on our home computer. Then, we sent them off to Shapeways, an online 3D printing service to prototype (not in gold!) and then to print final versions (in gold!). The bands have complementary but unique shapes, with a subtle peak at the top of the ring. It was a huge amount of work to take on all of these projects, but it was actually the most fun part of wedding planning for us because we got to be creative together. I developed my design skills and it was amazing to see him use his professional skills for such a personal project.

My bridal gown was a vintage inspired, beaded dress from Adrianna Papell for BHLDN. To my surprise, I found that I was drawn to the sparklier side of wedding dresses (instead of the lace that I seemed to like in photos). I wanted something that was not overly “bridal” in feeling, since none of the more traditional dresses seemed to feel quite right. The first time I went to BHLDN to try on dresses, this dress was not in the store! I found two other excellent candidates, but couldn’t quite decide. A couple of weeks later, my sister and I called to see if we could score another appointment and they squeezed us in. This time, I tried on the dress and immediately knew it was perfect! I loved the fit and style of my dress, and it wasn’t overly “bridal” (possibly because it is actually sold as a bridesmaid’s dress.)

The beautiful champagne blush color was perfect for my pale skin and red hair, but it presented a special challenge for color matching a veil. My mom even consulted a professional costume-maker to dye the tulle a matching color, but it wasn’t right. I had always wanted to give making my own veil a try, so I followed advice from several wedding how-to blogs, and decided to try doing it myself. My sister and I experimented with a fabric sample, using the boxful of Twinings English Breakfast tea from her cupboard, with delightful success! Somehow, the barely-blush color was perfect. I bought 4 yards of tulle and dyed the full veil length at home, using another brew of that same English Breakfast tea. Then I sewed the tulle onto a metal hair comb to achieve the long veil that I envisioned adding drama to my train-less dress. The color of the dress again posed a challenge for wedding jewelry! Anything yellow gold looked harshly yellow against the blush champagne. After quite a bit of searching, I eventually found the perfect rose-gold accessories to complement it. Advice to wedding boutiques, this is something you can work on!

We decided to serve guests from three flavors of lovely 10-inch cakes rather than a traditional large wedding cake. Both my husband and I share a love of banana cake with cream cheese frosting, and we had our hearts set on serving it at the wedding. So, we were very happy to discover that local bakery Cafe Latte carried a delicious version of it. We wanted to offer our guests a variety, however, so we also served Tres Leches (a favorite of the groom) and Double Chocolate (one of my favorites).

Since the cakes were decorated in a simple manner, we designed custom laser-cut cake toppers, which included our silhouettes, a series of hearts, and the phrase “Mr. & Ms.” Since I had chosen to keep my last name, one of my proudest DIY moments was the “Mr. & Ms.” cake topper. I was surprised and disappointed to have had no luck finding the phrase in any of my searching for wedding-themed accessories! My mom and sister also designed a bar of various white-colored candies in crystal dishes for guests to nibble on.

My mom is famous for her delicious frosted cutout cookies, and she baked hundreds of them in advance of the wedding, using cookie cutters in the shape of Minnesota (my home state) and Arizona (the groom’s home state). My sister and I frosted them with white icing and crystal sprinkles, and guests received the duo of cookies in cellophane bags on the way out of the reception.

From Chere WeddingsWith great love for nature and tropics, the wedding ceremony venue and theme revolved largely around the greens – the couple chose to exchange their vows under a big raintree at The Rocks, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore, which overlooks the coast of Singapore filled with golden glow from the setting sun. A casual yet classy and intimate dinner for the couple’s families & closest friends then happened under the stars. Fairy lights added a hint of dreamy effect and guests were also entertained by an acoustic duo who added the fun factor into the night.

A more formal wedding reception was held the next day at The Westin Singapore. Traditional tea ceremony was carried out with the bride donning on a traditional kua. The tables were adorned with lush greens and driftwoods, extending the similar tropical feel to the second dinner celebration. Also as architects, mini figurines were planted on the centerpieces to highlight this unique feature of the couple.

Vicky’s bespoke gowns consisted of 2 inner piece and 1 outer lace layer which changes the colour and look of the gown subtly for the 2 days of wedding.

Classic Garden-Inspired Solomons Island Wedding

Here at Style Me Pretty, we love a good paper suite, and this one from Amie Kesler and Cotton Press Paperie is seriously so good. And it’s just the start of this pretty day from the talents at Hitched By Heather and Alicia Jayne Florals. See every beautiful moment captured by Vicki Grafton Photography and Storymix Media in The Vault!

From The Couple…If we had to describe our wedding in one word, it would be magical! When we started planning for the big day, we wanted to make sure every piece and detail reflected us and our journey over the past 10 years of our relationship. We wanted it to feel like an extension of us, from the choice of music to our favorite foods to our signature drinks.

From The Bride…I wanted to keep the color palette timeless and neutral with touches of gold to really make the event feel as special and beautiful to our guests as it was to the both of us. One of the most important things to me during the planning process was the flowers! I wanted to keep the decorations simple and let the flowers and centerpieces speak for themselves. I had a vision of transforming our reception space into an evening garden filled with green vines, big blooms and lanterns with candles. Flowers were incorporated into everything from the Save the Dates, to the custom portfolio wedding invitation to the Out of Town bags.

My mom is originally from Hong Kong with her traditions deriving from Macau, a coastal region once ruled by Portugal. As a bridal tradition, she made hand sewn Portuguese bridal dolls for each Bridesmaid and female family member as a remembrance of the day. Traditional paper “cuttings” filled with macaroons were also prepared and offered for guests to take. One of my favorite features of the day was our cake that was hung under the stairway of our reception space. It was a beautiful touch and something unique that we had never seen before. All the details really turned out exactly how I had envisioned the day to be. I feel really lucky to have had the best team possible between our wedding planner, Hitched by Heather, our amazing florist, Alicia Jayne Florals and our incredible photographer Vicky Grafton.

From The Groom…I found myself taken aback all throughout the day; when I turned around at first look and saw my exquisitely beautiful bride, during our ceremony where the groomsmen and myself were impeccably greeted by a three-piece string band playing Europe’s “The Final Countdown”; at our remarkable ceremony surrounded by our family and friends.

We wanted the ceremony to be fun, elegant and thoughtful while showing off our individual personalities. I think we accomplished that. We started with passed signature drinks consisting of Jasmine’s champagne and my Moscow Mule in authentic Moscow Mule mugs. We may have warmed US – Russia relations that evening with how many Mule’s were consumed. The passed foods were equally thoughtful and delectable; zesty crab cakes on brioche with Old Bay sauce, peking duck tacos, and ahi tuna bites. Outside of the venue we had an oyster bar, serving up local oysters raw or steamed with various toppings and sauces. The food stations continued to show the effort and thought we put into choosing our menu; a dim sum station with banh mi sliders, spring rolls and kabobs, a carving station with marinated flank steak, a potato bar and finally a build your own salad station. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, the night closed with passed ice cream sandwiches, macaroni and cheese cupcakes and mini chicken and waffle sliders. I hardly need to say it, but Millof’s Catering did a flawless job delivering the menu we envisioned.

The rest of the evening was equally enchanting with good food and drinks, and even better friends and family to share them with. The wedding party introductions will always stay with me, even though we had a combined sixteen bridesmaids and groomsmen. Everyone let loose and was able to have fun with their individual introductions and songs. Another thing I’ll never forget is the incredible speech’s from my two best men, especially Chris Frantz. Love you Franchise! I’ll never forget dancing with my mother and watching Jasmine dancing with her father. And finally, I’ll never forget seeing my best friend walking down the aisle, towards me. The love of my life.

Elegant Southern Winter Wedding at Lowndes Grove

As soon as this beautiful Bride’s parents, the husband-and-wife team who run Patrick Properties Hospitality Group, acquired the scenic Lowndes Grove, she immediately knew she wanted to have her dream wedding there. And let’s just say, her wedding is truly a dream. See every beautiful detail captured by Virgil Bunao in The Vault!

From Virgil BunaoThis particular winter season in Charleston was definitely a cold one. About a month before Laura and Andrew’s wedding, I was also at Lowndes Grove shooting another beautiful wedding on what was probably the most coldest and windiest days ever in the Lowcountry. Thankfully, for Laura and Andrew’s big day, the rain, wind, and cold subsided in what seemed like it was just for them and I captured some of the most beautiful shots.

Laura is the daughter of the husband-and-wife team who run Patrick Properties Hospitality Group and rightfully so, she had her pick of some of the most gorgeous venues in Charleston. According to the bride, when her parents had acquired Lowndes Grove, she immediately knew she wanted to have her wedding there and she definitely made a great choice. Laura and Andrew’s tastes for the wedding were rustic, and Melissa Barton from A Charleston Bride pulled off the look by choosing a soft color palette that complemented the Charleston winter landscape and incorporated neutral wood tones.

Overall, Laura and Andrew wanted a fun and relaxed vibe to permeate throughout the wedding, so they skipped a seated dinner, brought in a great southern barbecue twist (check out the pigs!) and a bacon bar, and set up the ever-fun board game Jenga for everyone. It was seriously a very cool day but thanks to the decor from Jonie LaRosee’s floral arrangements and the rentals from Snyder Events and EventHaus, Laura and Andrew also managed to make it look like a very classic wedding day. I had heaps of fun photographing this day, this couple, and the Patrick and Boyles families. They were all so warm and welcoming, and I’m so thankful to have been part of a big celebration.

To say that we’re madly in love with the floral stylings of Les Fleurs would be putting it mildly, because quite frankly we’re downright uhb-sessed with this powerhouse of petals. So when they shared their most recent interpretation of Pantone’s 2016 color predictions, we kind of lost our minds (in the best way possible). A perfect pastel pairing that is sure to leave you PINNING, Caroline Winn Photography captured it all to share and we’ve got it waiting in The Vault!

From Les Fleurs… When we first saw the Pantone colors for 2016 we were just giddy and couldn’t wait to get to designing with them! Rose quartz and serenity inspired this winter shoot we styled at the sweetest New England tree farm. This color palette can transition from season to season with the use of seasonal blooms in these tones and accessories. We wanted to play off the winter months.

When I create bouquets I like the flowers & greenery to have a sense of season. For this inspiration shoot I wanted to share with brides how fresh these Pantone colors were for a winter wedding. When designing the bouquet I used peonies and garden roses to pull in the rose quartz along with light blue delphinium for serenity along with winter greens like carolina sapphire and silver dollar eucalyptus. Creamy white peonies and spray roses with dusty miller played off the rose and serenity tones. I finished the bouquet with a subtle collection of Midori Ribbons in antique whites, barley-there blues and a rose-y pink French satin, dupioni silk and French organza.

For the table setting… we started with the dreamiest white all sequin linen from Table Toppers that looked like freshly fallen snow. Rich gold flatware and antique china had a warmth that this palette needed to feel rich. During our collaborations we talked about a saturated neutral to stay with the rich-ness we felt we wanted to portray against the otherwise soft palette. Our hopes were that bride’s could envision their bridesmaids in sapphire gowns with mink shrugs carrying these bouquets through a lightly falling snow… picture heaven!! Carrying the sapphire blue to the table was a fine line. We didn’t want the sapphire to take over the serenity. Calligrapher, Abigail Matses created menus, table numbers and place cards from hand torn linen paper with a water color application. Flocked pinecones with carolina sapphire details were a lovely winter touch! We chose gold rimmed chargers paired with the antique china from Peterson Party Center. The antique china has both rose quart and serenity in the pattern. Similar blooms were used the table arrangement as the bouquet. I used white amaryllis and flocked white pinecones in the table centerpiece to continue the winter wedding tones throughout.

Old World Wedding Inspiration at Miami’s Ancient Spanish Monastery

I’m headed to Miami next month and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that as soon as I saw these pics from Simply Sarah’s workshop, I added the Ancient Spanish Monastery to my list of must-see sights right away. It’s the backdrop for this real life couple and all the beauty that Elleson Events created, with the help of Love in Vintage, Bubble Miami, Sweet Southern Charm and more. Seductive and sweet, romantic and fun, this shoot has it all and all the proof is in these pics in our Vault right here!

From Simply SarahInspired by the rich history held within the walls of The Old Spanish Monastery in Miami, Florida, Hollie with Elleson Events took our vision along with our sweet couple Gabrielle and Brian and turned it into something exquisite. Gabrielle and Brian grew up in Miami and they have visited the monastery in the past celebrating three years of dating. We chose a neutral color palette and heirloom details that paired perfectly with the detailed architecture of the Monastery and allowed the sweet love shared between these two to really shine!

Fire Roasted Citrus Cinnamon Rolls

I must admit that the first thing I fell in love with was not the fire roasted cinnamon rolls but Clary Pfeiffer’s insanely pretty farm house. It’s completely to-die-for and the scrumptious recipe is the cherry on top. Perfect for both cold weather mornings and summer bonfires, dive into this simple breakfast that packs a mighty flavor punch. And see even more of this gorgeous home in the VAULT!

Waking up to an orange sun and a blanket of snow is a welcome guest while we wait patiently for spring. The winters are long so we’ve made an art of staying in, building a morning fire, and finding fun ways to cook over an open flame. Our favorite is roasting cinnamon rolls which turn perfectly caramelized and gooey like the best part of the cinnamon roll, the middle. The secret is adding a little orange zest to the icing for dipping.

Serves 0Ingredients
  • 1 package of cinnamon rolls
  • the zest of 2 oranges
  • skewers for roasting
  • small bowl to mix icing and zest
Instructions
  1. Open the cinnamon rolls and place the icing in a small bowl.
  2. Mix the zest and icing until smooth.
  3. For your cinnamon rolls cut them into around 8 inch stripes for roasting.
  4. Wrap the roll around skewer using the prongs and roast each side for 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Let cool and cover with orange icing. This recipe is also amazing for camping or enjoying at a bonfire.
  6. After zesting the oranges you can make citrus juice. We love mixing 5 or 6 squeezed oranges with a cup of pineapple juice for sweetness but any juice mix you love is perfect. It’s a nice break from hot chocolate and makes you excited for warmer days. But the best is using the rids to make the house smell amazing. Throw those in the fire to release all the oils.

Classic + Romantic Backyard Wedding in Montana

Want to hear something adorable? Morgan and Brandon were married at her parent’s house. I mean, how sweet and intimate is that?! With Rebecca Hollis Photography capturing every lovestruck moment, it’s hard to imagine anything more beautiful than their Greenwood Events celebration. It’s a day that proves to be as classic as it is sentimental, and thankfully we’ve got it all to share via The Vault!

From the Bride… The first time Brandon and I ever saw one another was at a church clean up early one Saturday morning. We did not officially meet until some time later, but after the church clean up we both inquired to our pastor about each other. I had no idea who Brandon was or what his story looked like, but I knew I had to find out. He felt the same. We eventually got formally introduced one day after church by our associate pastor. As I walked away from the meeting, I turned around and gave Brandon my best “come and get it” smile that I could muster up. We continued to run into one another on campus and at church until finally one day, I approached him after the service. It was the beginning of Spring Break, and I wanted to know what his plans were. After making it very clear I wanted him to ask me out, he suggested we go on a hike over the break. I agreed. We met up to hike Mt. Sentinel and any and all awkwardness we felt evaporated after about three minutes. We hiked for almost three hours, talked the entire time, and laughed the whole way down. After that, the rest was history. We fell fast, and hard for one another.

It was only a short four months later that we were ring shopping together. Three months after that, we were engaged. Brandon proposed to me on Christmas Eve with my mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law all there to witness it. It was perfect, simple, and 100% me. My family has a tradition where, every Christmas Eve after church, we sit around the fire and Christmas tree, and we open one gift. For the last 22 years of my life, that gift has been matching nighties for my sister and I that we eagerly run upstairs and put on to show my mom. This year, as my sister handed out presents, I knew there was no way a night gown would fit into the tiny sack I was handed.

The sack was gold and shiny, and inside it was a gold glittery Reindeer Christmas Ornament. Tied onto the Reindeer’s horn was something that out-sparked the sack and the ornament combined; a ring. Before I could really react, Brandon was kneeling by my side. At this point I blacked out…and so did he. We were both so nervous and excited that we were shaking. If it weren’t for my parents recording and us re-watching it, I don’t think I would even know what we said to one another.

My favorite memory from the wedding day was walking back down the aisle after being announced as Mr. and Mrs. Smith for the first time. As we made our way back down the aisle we were both so excited and happy. Once we got back into the house we had a moment to celebrate with each other, our groomsmen, our bridesmaids, and our families. That was so special!

Brandon and I got married in my parent’s home. That in itself held more value and sentiment than all the decor combined. Having grown up in that home with the mother that I have has given me a certain type of taste, so it was no surprise that the house and the yard matched the theme and colors I wanted. My sister and I were back upstairs, in our old rooms, and sleeping in my childhood bed the night before the wedding. It calmed me down a lot, and made me feel a lot more at ease. Waking up in my own bedroom the morning of my wedding day was something that I think is really special.

The overall theme and feel of our wedding was drawn from the home and yard it took place in; romantic, classic with a modern twist, and simple. My parents home is whites and creams surrounded by natural lush greens of tree leaves, the golds in the field grasses, and the soft colors of fall when the season starts to change. This color palette is my favorite of them all. The wedding colors, white, cream, gold and natural greens, plays directly into the property and vice versa. If there is one thing wedding planning has taught me it’s to work WITH your surroundings, not against them. One of my favorite part’s about Darci’s decor ideas was the pampas grass that she used to line the aisle, toss into some of the bouquets, and use at the head table. The grass was totally unique, and while not at all part of Montana’s natural grasses, fit in perfectly.

From the Groom… My favorite memory from the day was seeing Morgan walk down the Aisle with her Dad right there was something that I don’t really think I can describe. She and her dad have such a special relationship, she looked unbelievably beautiful, and it just suddenly all became real that I was seeing my almost wife walking towards me. That rocked.

From The Bride…Martin and I wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate weekend getaway with our closest family and friends. We have relatives living as far as Alaska and California, so it was wonderful to have our immediate family and bridal party stay together in the main house at Locusts on Hudson for the entire weekend. The property in Staatsburg is breathtaking and encompasses everything we love about fall in New England. The Locusts’ barn created the perfect warm, rustic space we envisioned for the reception. The night was full of love and personalized touches from our friends and family, including beautiful speeches, a delicious wedding cake baked by our friend Gretchen and a serenade of “At Last” from my bridesmaid. PS Tailored served our favorite dishes family-style at long wooden tables and Poppies & Posies transformed the space with their magical floral design. I surprised Martin with a 90’s after-party complete with his favorite desserts from Joe’s Stone Crab and Magnolia Bakery. The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air had our guests dancing until the early morning hours. Annie & her team helped make the planning process fun and stress-free. Although Hurricane Joaquin dashed our plans for an outdoor ceremony, the weather was perfect by Sunday and we were able to enjoy a goodbye brunch by the Hudson River.

About The Bride…Elisa is a former TV producer who has worked with Anderson Cooper, Diane Sawyer & Robin Roberts. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor in Arts majoring in English Literature.

About The Groom…Martin is a successful entrepreneur who has founded several technology start-ups since graduating from Nova High School in Florida, including VoIP.com.

From Stefanie Miles… Kim and Sam were truly one of our most laid back couples in 2015 with a huge love for the dance floor! We translated Kim’s soft and organic style into a modern downtown event space for a fun and fabulous party that could be heard throughout downtown Austin.

The day began with all 17 bridesmaids and 15 groomsmen getting ready for the ceremony – a morning full of laughter and celebration. The entire wedding party was transported to Laguna Gloria for the couple’s intimate first look and then wedding party portraits. Brazos Hall provided a beautiful modern backdrop for the ceremony – lush floral from Bows & Arrows and the fantastic gospel choir set an incredible tone for the fun celebration, beginning in the ceremony!

One of our favorite highlights was the gospel choir singing “Joyful, Joyful” as beautiful Kim was escorted in by her father, and then sending the new Mr. and Mrs. out to “Oh Happy Day”! It was truly a meaningful celebration of love and joy. The reception downstairs kicked off with a laid back cocktail hour before dinner, and In10city kept the entire crowd on the dance floor the rest of the night!

Real Weddings That’ll Convince You to Get Married in Ireland

Truth be told, my husband and I have decided if we EVER renew our vows it’s going to be in Ireland. It’s hands-down our favorite travel spot (amazing scenery, historic castles, cozy pubs!) but it also has everything to do with the beauty I’ve seen on the pages of SMP. And while I love any excuse for a little wedding wanderlust, with St. Paddy’s Day right around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to take a look back through our favorite Irish “I dos”.

Modern Baby Shower + “You Are Loved” Calligraphy Backdrop

This sweet shower is charming up a storm in The Vault today and I for one, can’t get enough. Planned by Tangerine Room Events and captured by Callie Hobbs, it comes complete with this darling you are loved calligraphy sign by Golden Grain Designs. Oh, and a tented gift area, modern geo-wall filled with blooms and cutie macarons. Need a bigger dose of adorbs? Right this way!

From Callie Hobbs PhotographyTangerine Room Events had the pleasure of designing this modern, boho baby shower and knew it needed to be something extra special. Mama to Be, Laura, is the kind of stylish, down to earth, adventurous gal everyone wants as a friend. And since Laura’s
not afraid to push boundaries with texture and color in her own personal style (you should see her baby nursery!), Tangerine Room Events was able to bring in unique boho design elements, mixed with just the right amount of mid-mod flare to make this intimate baby shower an affair to remember.

Baby Patterson is due on Valentine’s Day so inspiration for the design began with the classic love symbol of cupid’s arrow. Vintage arrows were tucked into greenery adorned driftwood while a giant cork heart with golden arrow push pins acted as a station for writing “love notes to baby”.

The loft of Point Gallery, in Denver, acted as the perfect, modern but cozy venue for Laura’s closest friends to celebrate her new arrival. A secret entrance was marked with gold heart balloons and florals and market lights strung between the urban buildings lead guests into the gallery. Once up the stairs, guests were greeted by mimosas and brunch from a close by French bakery.

Grey, acrylic hand lettered names nestled between mismatched vintage stoneware and a gradient of pink goblets was the perfect mix of modern and boho texture. Marble tables, lush florals and retro wood candlesticks, napkin rings and flatware added to the one of a kind design.

A lounge area complete with lace teepee and moroccan wedding blanket was a cozy retreat for opening gifts and eating dessert. Guests enjoyed marbled sugar cookies in the shape of hearts and arrows and gold brushed macarons.

Before leaving, friends were encouraged to take home a small potted plant as a sweet memory of the day and all the love that’s to grow as Baby Patterson enters the world.

Old World Italian-Inspired Wedding Inspiration

This is one of those galleries that gets better and better with every scroll forward. First I pinned this hairstyle, than I went a little wild with the detailing on this dress. And don’t even get me started on Christine Cater’s florals and full design – my fingers can’t keep up with all this must-pin madness! But luckily Sally Pinera did, capturing every romantic piece of pretty – all of them in our Vault right this way!

From Sally Pinera… Sometimes we don’t need to travel great distances to feel otherworldly! In the heart of Napa rests Andretti Winery where a very old world Italian inspired villa lies. With a elegant and sophisticated feel, we set this shoot on neutral tones to heighten the colors that were already at play at the villa. Christine Cater beautifully created a tablescape that was both organic and exquisite. The table was adorned with beautiful Ark tabletops. The bride wore a lace lush gown by Inbal Dror and classy Christian Louboutin shoes.
