I wouldn’t be surprised if everything Kate Middleton touches turns to gold, after all, everything she wears becomes an instant trend. As soon as she began sporting an 18-carat sapphire stunner complete with a halo of 12 diamonds, brides everywhere wanted a matching blue beauty. Five years later, that hasn’t changed. And today, we’re majorly crushing on this custom Lauren B. engagement ring that’s giving us major Kate Middleton vibes. Trust us, it’s enough to make any woman feel like a queen!

Garden weddings are (without a doubt) high on the list of things we’re crazy madly in love with, so when Palermo Photo sent over this purple hued Mellon Park pretty we were absolutely smitten. A day graced with love, elegant details, and a naked cake that’s worth sharing, we’ve got it all waiting for you to pin in The Vault!

From the Bride…Aaron and I met in college, at a summer job on campus. He changed light bulbs in the dorms over the summer and I kept track of his and other students work in the housing department office. I didn’t know that he liked me until I realized how easily I could make him blush.
Aaron proposed to me about a month after my birthday and Valentine’s Day, right when I had given up on engagement for another year. He and my best friend, Brooke, had secretly gone out shopping for the perfect ring but because the sapphire had to be ordered special, it was later than he expected. In hindsight having it actually be a surprise was worth it.
Wedding planning was hard for me, I knew what I wanted the wedding to feel like, but translating that into lots of tiny decisions was difficult. Having a sister and mom with a lot of ideas and encouragement helped. Somethings were definitely easy, Maria was the only photographer I wanted to work with and Stephanie from Blue Daisy Florals had such beautiful arrangements and understood what I wanted right away. Raina included a lot of details in the place settings that I wouldn’t have considered but when it was all put together it was too good to pass up.
The day of the wedding came together much better than I could have planned. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, it rained before we got to the venue, stopped raining enough for us to take pictures outside– rained again before the ceremony, and cleared up just in time for us to be married in the garden where I had told Aaron 4 years prior that I wanted to be married there. The day felt like a dream, we were surrounded by friends who had come as far as the Netherlands to be with us— it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. One of my favorite parts of the day was when our master of ceremonies (it was a self uniting ceremony, so a close friend led us through the ceremony) took a moment and told us to look out at all the people who came to our wedding to support us, and who loved us. That was a powerful, unexpected touch that brought a busy, crazy day to a standstill for a few moments.

From Rebecca Arthurs…Ian & Emalia’s elegant, romantic and natural wedding day was intertwined with strong family ties, love and culture. The day was colored by the striking blue water of Lanikai and the beautiful coastline. As a couple, Emalia & Ian love getting dressed up but are also low key as well which is why they chose to get married at Emalia’s family estate. It was the perfect place to hold this elegant wedding filled with many memories. The Mokulua Islands provided a stunning backdrop to the ceremony and cocktail hour. After Emalia danced a gorgeous hula for her new husband, there wasn’t a dry eye as Ian welcomed everyone to the backyard reception and listed the many qualities he loved about his new wife. Everyone felt right at home because it was!

I’m a little biased, but when I hear the Bride discovered her wedding vision after perusing SMP, I know her big day will be beautiful. And this rustic Vermont day does not disappoint. With a gorgeous couple, scenic inn setting and surprise vintage 1960’s Volkswagen Bus photo booth from Photobooth Planet, this day is every kind of charming. See it all thanks to Emily Delamater in The Vault!

From The Bride…I can’t say that I had a true vision for our wedding from the beginning. Deciding on one theme or choosing ‘our colors’ seemed so daunting but I knew it was a path that we’d have to cross eventually. My fiancé, Dan, and I did know that we wanted to get married in Vermont, a place we had shared many great memories together. We also knew that we wanted a summer wedding, either in late June or early July. Vermont’s lush green landscape seemed like the perfect backdrop for our summer wedding, connecting our love for nature with that small town charm that New England is known for.
Getting married in Vermont meant that we’d have a semi-destinational wedding (as most of our family lives in New York) and we loved that idea, however we knew we would need to find a venue to accommodate our families and friends comfortably. Dan and I started our journey searching for the perfect venue which was exhausting and also a huge reality check- wedding’s are expensive! We visited about 6 different venues within a three weeks and it wasn’t until a trip to Woodstock, VT that we stumbled upon The Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm. We drove by this beautifully nestled Inn boasting a big red barn and a large open field and immediately felt drawn to it. Ten minutes later we were walking the grounds with the Inn Keeper and 20 minutes later were putting a soft hold on a date of July 18th, 2015!
My vision started to become more clear when I discovered images of a summer wedding at the Quechee Inn featured on Style Me Pretty! These beautiful images painted a picture for me in my head and it quickly became clear that this is where Dan and I would say “I do”. I immediately reached out to the florist and the photographer credited for these images and to my amazement both were available for our date! As soon as I met Michelle Boleski from Petals Vermont I knew my vision was in good hands. She was able to sift through all my ideas and create a cohesive theme that would carefully blend rustic Vermont with city chic and a touch of vintage. I chose a color scheme consisting of soft pink, gold, and champagne and a theme of gold arrows, since our first date was on Valentine’s Day. We ordered wedding invitations with gold foil arrows and designed a cake adorned with gold arrows and fresh flowers. Our guest book was an oversized image of our thumb prints overlapping to create a heart which we also put an arrow through. When the day finally arrived and I saw how Michelle had transformed our tent I was in awe, the outcome was elegant, romantic, and thoughtful and my vision had come to life!
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. The ceremony was outside between two beautiful old maple trees that created a natural canopy casting shade over our guests. I walked down the isle to a non lyrical version of “A Thousand Years” by The Piano Guys and we walked back up the isle as husband and wife to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder. For cocktail hour our guests walked up to a beautiful courtyard where they were greeted with his and hers signature drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Just before our reception began our wonderful coordinator gathered our guests to the front lawn for a group shot, that serves as a perfect memory token! To help guests find their seats we had a large vintage mirror propped on an easel that my mother hand wrote every guests name and their assigned table number. Our parties were introduced and Dan and I danced our first dance to “Someone Like You” by Van Morrison. As a surprise for our guests Dan and I arranged for a Vintage 1960’s Volkswagen Bus for our photo booth. This was a huge hit and added such a fun element to our tent and theme. Shortly after dinner our band, Cover Story, started taking requests and really got the party going and for the remaining hours of the night the dance floor was filled, just as we had hoped for!
With an incredible team of vendors and our wonderful coordinator, we were able to relax and enjoy every moment. A special thanks to our photographers, Emily and Matt Delamater, who captured those moments so perfectly too!

Want in on a little secret? SMP may have a thing for beautiful blush weddings (and believe me, that’ll never fade) but right now we’re hankering from some solid jewel tones. And Graham Terhune must’ve felt that craving because he delivered with this gem of a winter wedding. From the deep hues to a love story straight out of middle school Spanish class, these pics in our Vault have it all!

From the Bride… I’m not a writer; more of a DIY crafter at best so humor me as I tell this story… Mike and I met in 7th grade Spanish class. The story goes that on the first day I was already in a desk when Mike walked into the class, he could see the back of my head and bee-lined for the desk behind the short blonde. “¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo Mike.” We were Spanish partners for the rest of the year.
There was a solid seven years that Mike was regrettably stuck in the “amigo” zone. It wasn’t until college that I saw the romance in being understood and being accepted all in all. We dated junior and senior years before Mike commissioned into the Army following our graduation. And I had it bad for my best friend. But fresh outta school we were too young to get serious. The Army had Mike headed for Afghanistan and I moved to California for a design internship.
We both went our separate ways. And it was five years later that I made my bold move. It was 10:30 AM, I was living in Austin at the time, and I had a wild spontaneous idea, I texted Mike: “I’m single again… and this is your last chance before I get scooped up by a Texan.” Luckily he took me up on that offer; he asked if he could fly out the next weekend and take me out on a date – we were engaged nine months later.
The wedding planning was similar to our story in a sense… it was a slow burn. I fell in love with it over time, and it wasn’t until I finally had all my key vendors on lock that I really started enjoying the process. I had the vision of a moody burgundy mixed with bright whites, live greenery, and vintage brass. It goes without mentioning I also had a field day with the calligraphy brush and India ink and tried to letter anything with a flat surface that would sit still. For as hungry I was for the design details during the planning season, they all were a blurry beautiful haze on the wedding day. I married my forever person/favorite human and was absolutely humbled by all our people in one room that came to celebrate alongside us. And that was more than enough to focus on during our big day. We are stationed on the other side of the country from family and friends so our entire guest list traveled to our new home.
Favorite moments include our photos in the field (for the opportunity to calm down and catch some couple time), our unplanned first dance where I got weird, the time my dad dropped the mic after his toast, and our foursome family sing-along dance to Ray LaMontagne’s “You are the Best Thing.” My cheeks were sore from all the laughing and smiling all day. Having a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime honor and I would highly recommend it.

We love a good online love story – so it should come as no surprise that we love Lily and Brad. Even more so? The fact that they planned the perfect party complete with classic touches, tapered David Beahm Designs blooms, flourished Laura Hooper Calligraphy, and of course the mega talented Abby Jiu capturing every moment. From the culturally significant ceremony to the regal reception, we’ve got it all in The Vault!

From Abby Jiu…Lily and Brad met on the online dating website “HowAboutWe.com”. They spent five hours getting to know one another on their first date at The Darlington House and learned that they both work for independent schools in the DC area. Brad teaches at Bullis, which is less than a mile from Lily’s childhood home. She ran on their track throughout high school! They are a true online dating success story!
Brad surprised Lily with a romantic proposal on their vacation to Spain in August 2014. He proposed in the charming city of Seville. They knew that their love for Spain would make a statement at their wedding and it sure did through their custom Sangria and tapas bar at cocktail hour!
Lily and Brad wanted a timeless wedding that they would look back on and cherish forever. The colors and look were designed specially as an overall ode to a timeless look with a modern twist. The custom invitation from Haute Papier served as a benchmark for our gorgeous different shades of grey details!
Lily wanted to give a nod to her Persian heritage with this Sofreh Aghd display at their wedding reception as well as the paisley linen that were on the reception tables. The Sofreh Aghd is a traditional wedding ceremony spread where legal marriage + ceremonial traditions are exchanged. The ceremonial traditions have been practiced for thousands of years + Sofreh Aghd spreads are usually very customary at Persian weddings. Like most, Iranians have diverse religious backgrounds and the Sofreh Aghd is a chosen cultural ceremony commonly practiced regardless of faith. There are many symbolic items in which make up the Sofreh Aghd spread, all in which represent an element of the couple’s new life + marriage together. The word “sofreh” means “spread” and “aghd” means “ceremony.” The Persian Rial (bills) were signed by her late grandfather.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a traditional decor enthusiast, this living room is sure to give you pause. It has those classic bones that are timeless and elegant at its core. Then top that with layers of fresh, modern details and it’s a whole new look for TRAD. One that we can totally get behind. Tour the full space crafted by Centered By Design with photos by Anna Sodziak in the VAULT.
This neutral and French vintage inspired living room was designed with lots of love in Chicago by me (aka Claire Staszak of Centered by Design). My clients, Erica & Donovan, needed help showcasing the wonderful architectural details of their open floor plan entry and living room, but did not know where to start.

We began when Erica approached me after our book club one evening, and asked if I had ideas to makeover their space. I could see so much potential! And jumped at the opportunity to transform their home. After discussing her love of the color grey and the city of Paris, I knew I could come up with a color scheme, and comfortably elegant feel for the living space that would hit all the right notes.

The first step was to repaint. The chair rail, picture frame molding and trim was all painted white creating a unified and traditional feel. The top of the walls was painted in my favorite soft gray, Lamp Room Gray, by Farrow & Ball.
Next I selected soft neutral furnishings, taking care to add in pattern, metallics and a pop of black to ground the room and keep it interesting.
A touch of old world charm was added with vintage furnishings from some of my favorite local vendors such as South Loop Loft, The Savoy Flea and MegMade.
The result is a peaceful and neutral entertaining area that feels old world, yet still modern and fresh!

This wedding right here? It’s everything. Think a storybook Tahoe setting, beyond dreamy details and a stunning Bride and Groom who also happen to be talented comedians that met in The Groundlings Sunday Company. (Sooo awesome.) Now take that Hollywood star power and pair it up with an amazing team of vendors, including MAP Events, Meg Smith and Creative Lighting Design and the results are pretty and then some. Head to THE VAULT to fall helplessly in love.

From the Bride… Tony is starring on the upcoming “School of Rock” TV series, playing the role Jack Black played in the movie (it premieres in January). I’m a writer-actress and write daily on my comedic lifestyle blog, Heels in the Hills. Tony and I met performing together in the Groundlings Sunday Company, a comedy theater in Los Angeles with alumni that include Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Will Ferrell and Phil Hartman.
We got married at “The Big House,” the home of my parents’ best friends. It’s a gorgeous 10-bedroom estate on the lake that has been in their family for three generations. I spent summers there growing up and Tony proposed there; I dreamed of getting married there my entire life. There have only ever been 2 other weddings there; the owners (my parents’ friends – the bride had a replica of Princess Diana’s dress made), and their nephew’s. And now ours!
That gorgeous setting was the biggest inspiration of all! The home and the lake are so beautiful, I didn’t want to do anything to distract from them. Instead, I chose colors and design elements that would complement the house and backdrop of the lake, while still feeling timeless and elegant.
Tony and his dad homemade the table numbers; he bought marble from a scrap yard and gold house numbers, and they had a father-son bonding day cracking the marble and building them.
My friend Carly Kuhn (The Cartorialist, who’s drawn for Vogue, Prada and Sarah Jessica Parker) drew the image of us with our three dogs that went on our programs and cocktail napkins.
As a wedding gift, Tony had his two grandmothers’ engagement rings turned into a necklace; he used the diamond from one and the setting from the other, and gave it to me the morning of the wedding.
Josh McDermitt (star of “The Walking Dead”) officiated the ceremony. He and Tony are writing partners, and created an improv group together years ago and have been making internet comedy videos together since.
Our place cards were slices of blue agate; they looked like mini Lake Tahoes, and were also a way to honor my geologist grandfather, who sadly passed away before the wedding. Our calligrapher, Jenny Sanders, wrote the names and table numbers on them.
Tony’s stepsister and her husband sang and played the acoustic guitar for the guest arrivals and the ceremony.
Embracing the groom’s comedy background, Tony and the groomsmen arrived to the ceremony via pontoon boat (driven by the owner of the estate/the Father of the Bride’s best friend) with The Darkness’ “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” blasting while the groomsmen waved heart flags, because they wanted the wedding to reflect the groom’s silly, inner 80’s-action-star side, too.
Our three rescue dogs (Lucy, Tippi and Maggie) joined in on the first look photos. We named the cocktails after them: Lucy Lemelonade, Tipsy Tippi, Maggie Mocktail.
For my “something borrowed” and “something blue,” I wore my grandmother’s sapphire wedding ring.
My mom drew the map in our welcome bags; it included helpful information like where the wedding was, but also funny memories, like the spot where Tony accidentally drove my car into a tree once, the spot where he proposed, the spot where my dad almost burned the house down helping set up the proposal, etc.
As a nod to Tony’s southern roots, we had an upscale comfort food theme (fried chicken, pimento cheese on green tomatoes, truffle macaroni and cheese, etc), and the caterer made several of my Texas grandmother’s recipes. (My dad baked her cheese biscuits himself, which we set out during guest arrivals.)
We had five kinds of cake at the wedding, including the “cake in a jar” favors: red velvet, marble, lemon, strawberry and chocolate peanut butter.
One of our favorite moments of the night was sneaking upstairs to look down and watch our guests rocking out to The Spazmatics, the greatest wedding band of all time. (Other favorite moment: when Tony crowd-surfed.)
I wore a beautiful Vera Wang dress with Kate Spade shoes (and later, to dance all night, white Nike wedge sneakers as a nod to the my favorite film “Father of the Bride”). My jewelry: Grandmother’s sapphire wedding ring for something borrowed and something blue. My necklace was a gift from the groom the morning of the wedding – he had it made from the diamonds from both of his grandmothers’ engagement rings.
My favorite moment or part of the day…Too many to list, every minute was my favorite! But here are a few: Seeing Tony’s face, holding back tears, as we said our vows. Our officiant hilariously taking a selfie mid-ceremony. Tony crowd-surfing to The Spazmatics. When I got too hot from dancing, my mom and I went upstairs and she braided my hair and pinned it up, just like when I was a little girl; such a beautiful, unexpected and unplanned mother-daughter moment that I’ll never forget. And Tony and I sneaking upstairs to look down on the house we love so much, seeing all our friends having the time of their lives on the dance floor while we danced, just the two of us, in the window, was one of the happiest moments of my life. The wedding at “The Big House” that I’d dreamed of since I was a little girl came true.

Amidst the chaos of a wedding day, it’s so important to steal away for those quiet moments between you and your beloved. Moments like exchanging love letters, which is exactly what Elisabeth and Marcus planned just before their ceremony. The one and only Elizabeth Messina photographed an incredible gallery, Tessa Lyn Events designed the day, and the fairytale doesn’t end there. This couple is about to start a new chapter with a sweet baby on the way!

From the Bride… Marcus and I met on Christmas Eve at a friend’s annual Chrismukkah party. It was the same party we went to every year but for some reason this year seemed different and our eyes caught one another across the room. It wasn’t long before I realized this guy was something special and I couldn’t shake him. Two years later he took me to Santa Barbara on what turned out to be a rained out weekend. Marcus’ beach proposal was dashed and instead we found ourselves snuggled up in a bungalow listening to music and the fireplace crackle, it was then out of a white bathrobe pocket a small black box emerged. To this day, Marcus and I love our rainy fireside nights. Our engagement was much like the movie the “Five Year Engagement” and it did take us five years to make it to the alter, but once we did it was truly all we had worked towards and had envisioned for ourselves.
Our wedding was nothing short of a beautiful/crazy combo of excitement, romance, and pure emotion. My favorite moments were at the alter where under an orchid adorned chuppah we opened our hearts open to one another as we shared our intentions and dreams in creating a future together. While everyone says your wedding day will fly by in a blink of an eye (and it does), it was those moments before we met at the alter that I’ll really cherish. Marcus and I shared love letters to one another reminding ourselves that when the flowers were packed up and the guests had gone home it would be those cherished moments of the day that would last us a lifetime. Two dogs later, a house to call our own and the wedding of a dreams on the books we will be welcoming our honeymoon baby in May 2016.
From Tessa Lyn Events… Elisabeth and Marcus wanted a warm, elegant wedding with 90 of their closest friends and family. We transformed the reception using a palette of ivory, blush, and gold. The draping created glamour, the upholstered dining chairs mimicked an intimate dinner party, and the candles created romance. It was important to the bride and groom that the space felt romantic and cozy and that their guests felt special. The parting gifts for guests were Laduree scented macaron soaps and aromatherapy diffusers that had been shipped in from France.
