This Bride Evokes All the Audrey Hepburn Prima Ballerina Vibes

It’ll come as no surprise that Audrey Hepburn’s earliest career ambitions were to become a professional ballerina and the beloved actress will forever be known as one of the most fashionable women in history, and we couldn’t help thinking of Audrey the moment we laid eyes on this bride. Amy Cambell Photography captured Shannon in her Amsale gown, which looks like it was made for her with its crepe bodice and sheer back that fit the bride like a glove and the tulle skirt that harkened back to her own ballet days. Clearly, this would be a timeless, elegant affair, so don’t miss a second of it, filmed by Reel Special.

From Amy Cambell Photography Shannon and Colin’s wedding was planned to perfection. The couple wanted a formal day with neutral hues and lush greenery. Beige hues were found in the gorgeous floral details with greenery, the amazing paper suite, and even in both mothers’ dresses to seamlessly blend with the bridal party. The Apiary in Lexington Kentucky was the perfect reception venue blending the outdoor gardens with the indoor tablescape.

From the bride… In most aspects of my life, I appreciate elegance in its simplest form. That concept became the guiding design principal for our wedding. As I worked through details with my wedding planner, Camille Tucker, we defined elegant simplicity with a neutral color palette punctuated by soft gold accents. We worked alongside Elizabeth Earnest Floral Design, a master of highlighting the beauty and elegance found in a plant’s natural form. Floral design centered around layered white florals and an array of greenery textures. While formality was a priority in all of our events for the day, Colin and I also wanted our reception to exude intimacy. We kept the guest count to 165 and achieved an intimate setting through a plated dinner in The Apiary’s dining room, known as the Orangerie, on tables overwhelmed with tall arrangements of nothing but lush greenery, small arrangements bursting with white blooms, and an abundance of candlelight. The end result took my breath away.

Classical ballet played an important role in my childhood and teenage years and seemed to leave a lasting impression, as I found myself attracted to tulle and its ethereal quality. After a whirlwind weekend in Atlanta with my mother, sister, and future mother-in-law, I decided on an A-line Amsale dress composed of a crepe bodice with a sheer back atop a soft tulle skirt. For the ceremony, I completed the look with a floor length veil (because when else do you get to wear a veil?) and some fabulous hand-beaded earrings by Mignonne Gavigan.

Colin and I went back and forth on whether or not to do a first look. We were enamored by the romantic quality of seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle. After much discussion, however, we decided to do a first look. We were swayed by the idea that by doing a first look, when we walked out of the church as a married couple, we were done with all the formal obligations of the day and had the entirety of the evening to celebrate our new marriage. We experienced every second of our cocktail hour and reception alongside our guests, and I couldn’t have been happier with our decision.

Cocktail hour began immediately following the ceremony and took place in the formal gardens of The Apiary. In lieu of a signature cocktail, guests were greeted with champagne garnished with a lemon twist and were free to mingle as a harpist set the mood. Light, summery hors d’oeuvres were passed and consisted of a chilled cucumber soup, whipped brie, and fish tacos. Guests transitioned inside for toasts and the cutting of the cake, a lemon cake with vanilla swiss buttercream. Following the cutting of the cake, the Orangerie doors were opened, and guests flowed inside for the plated dinner. Our dinner consisted of a compressed watermelon salad, a pork tenderloin entrée, and our cake was cut and served as the dessert course. We danced the rest of the night away to a fabulous local band, Encore of Lexington.

Colin and I were married at Central Christian Church, a historic church in downtown Lexington that I have attended since childhood. Following our ceremony, we descended the front stairs of the church as our loved ones showered us with white rose petals. We drove away in a white vintage Bentley, listening to the cheering and laughter of all our closest family and friends. It was truly a magical moment.

After our engagement, Colin’s grandmother, Maxine, wrote a letter of congratulation in which she shared Shakespeare’s commentary on love, Sonnet 116. We invited Maxine to share these words with all of our wedding guests and had her read Sonnet 116 during our wedding ceremony. The words that touched Colin’s grandparents throughout their marriage were now a part of our marriage from the very start.

When Colin and I began dating, he lived in an apartment near the construction of what would become our wedding venue, The Apiary. We often took walks to nearby restaurants and bars, walking past what we heard would be a new event venue. One night, as The Apiary was nearing completion, we walked past and peeked through the iron gates, trying to steal a glimpse at the new construction. I found myself looking at a maze of formal gardens unlike any I’d ever seen. I knew I’d get married there as soon as I laid eyes on it. Two years later, when Colin and I got engaged, The Apiary was the first decision we made, and after we booked it, I knew everything else would fall into place.

We Think the Rain Made This Day Picture Perfect

Emily had been dreaming of an outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Como accompanied by a celebratory boat ride for the months leading up to her Italian destination wedding, but when the forecast the day of called for rain, she had to make the tough decision to move things under a tent. Luckily, Happy Moments Collector was there to expertly execute plan B, and now the bride reflects, “Looking back, all I remember is that September 9th was the most beautiful and magical day of our lives.” And we have to be honest – with the mist over the mountains, the dreamy draping of the tent, and the lovely images by Thcablookfotolab, everything looked picture perfect in our book.

Whimsical

From planner Anastasia Aslanyan, founder of Happy Moments Collector…. This wedding was on the 9th of September, and usually we are still having summer on Lake Como, but last year it was something extraordinary – quite chilly, and the forecast was showing heavy rain all day long with wind. Of course, we had a plan B, but we were all a bit worried. And what can I say? All the guests and the couple were telling us that it was even more cozy, memorable, and special because of the rain. Not all weddings are on sunny days, and couples are always worried about this point. Usually it is their nightmare. But we assured Emily and Michael that rainy weather could still be beautiful and unique. The only thing is you must have a well-organized plan. You know, in Italy they have a proverb, ”Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata.” that means that rain on the wedding day brings good luck to the bride. And we are sure that Emily and Michael will have their happily ever after.

The theme of the wedding was elegant simplicity, with a color palette of white, ivory, blush, olive green, and touch of gold. You can see it starting with the stationery and finishing with the small details. We couldn’t help adorning the lovely dog of the couple with the wreath on his neck. It walked down the aisle with the groomsmen, opening the ceremony.

From the bride… Michael and I have quite a love story. He is originally from Germany, and I was born in Canada, but we met eight years ago at a surf camp in Costa Rica. We fell in love and ended up dating long distance for four years before he moved to California to be with me. We got engaged in Big Sur, California, and had dreamed of getting married on the coast of California, but after a trip to Lake Como, Italy, we fell absolutely in love with the idea of an Italian wedding. It was the best decision we made as the food, wine, and romantic atmosphere can’t be beat.

I found our wedding planner, Anastasia, on Style Me Pretty, and all of her weddings were so beautiful, so I knew she would be able to execute our ideas perfectly. Every day for two weeks leading up to the wedding, I would check the weather reports. The night before, the radar was calling for 100% chance of rain, and I became so upset even though everybody told me not to worry. I had been dreaming of our beautiful, floral arch overlooking the lake, our guests enjoying cocktails in the garden, and us taking a sunny boat ride for photos. Our friends and family all traveled from far away to be with us, and I wanted it to be the perfect day spent outdoors. On the morning of the wedding, we had to make a decision, and I wanted to so badly have it outside, but our planner, Anastasia, suggested we move everything under the tent. Halfway through our ceremony, the winds picked up, and it started raining. Looking back, all I remember is that September 9th was the most beautiful and magical day of our lives. It didn’t matter that the rain ruined my hair and my dress was destroyed, because the only memories we have now are that everything felt perfect.

My advice to other brides planning an outdoor wedding would be to not panic when you see rain in the forecast because your wedding will be the best day of your life regardless of the weather. Your guests are there to celebrate your day, and the rain won’t stop them from having an amazing time. Also, don’t be afraid to take some chances in the rain. We almost canceled our boat ride when we knew it would be raining, but our favorite photos from the day were taken in the rain. The way the fog and the mist rolled through the mountains was truly stunning.

6 Ways To Layer Color in a Home with All-White Walls

Time and again, I hear people talking about white behind it’s back… It’s too boring. Not enough character!, they say. But I see so much potential in a blank canvas. A fresh slate that allows you to layer in your style through colorful decor—not to mention, allows for easy updating as your look as your personal taste evolves. The gorgeous scenes below are proof and we’re sharing a handful of ways you can give your white room a pulse, with color.

Area Rugs

Not only are area rugs great for anchoring a room, but they are such a fun way to liven up your floors! If you’re working with a vibrant or loud pattern, let your rug be the statement in the room and choose more subtle, neutral furniture. This space designed by Barbara Town nails it.

Furniture

Vice versa, if you incorporate happy hued furniture pieces, go for a neutral rug with more breathing room—or, go sans rug. Barbara Town let these blue beauties shine on their own and they truly command the room.

Art

Feeling intimidated by art? I’m with you. I’ve found that including colorful art in a room typically works best if you keep the rest of the pieces in the same color family, like in this living room. It can also be really fun to frame fabrics as well if fine art or photography isn’t your thing!

Textiles

From pillows to drapery, there are plenty of ways to weave in color through textiles. Not finding what you want? Have something custom made in your favorite fabric!

Decor

From books to beads and everything in between, use decor to infuse color into your space. Tip: Rather than adding colorful pieces into your existing design, remove all decor and start fresh by adding in vignettes one at a time.

Florals & Greenery

The quickest (and most pleasant) way to add a dash of color? With florals and/or greenery! You can also create really lovely long-term arrangements with silk flowers as well.

A Stunning Seaside Wedding With Brunch on the Menu

This seaside Miami wedding is taking brunch to a whole new level of beauty. Designed by Beauty in the Making, coral peonies, iron garden chairs and the chic backdrop of The Palms Hotel and Spa all prove that nothing beats brunch with an ocean view. But if you need any more convincing, the images captured by Gianny Campos should do the trick.

From the Groom…The last idea in my mind during my senior year of college as a bachelor is to find love. Originally, I had planned a trip to Puerto Rico in 2013 to visit some family members and enjoy my last moment of freedom in college. However, my life changed the moment I sparked a conversation with Charleen and her friends waiting in line for some coconut water. After the first day we spent time together, we just had to continue hanging out. To top it off, she went to school in Syracuse, which was only 3 hours away! After Puerto Rico, we could not resist talking to each other every day!

After about a month, I invited her to my salsa social in school, where she met my friends and had a tour of my school. Even though we were far apart, I could not feel any closer to her at this point. We started to discuss what our lives would be like after school. I would have never known that Charleen would have lived in a city close to me in my future assignment in North Carolina for our relationship. That sacrifice alone speaks volumes about how much she cares. It was at that point, I realized that I was the luckiest guy in the world that chose the perfect wife.

At this point, I helped her in every way to get into a master’s program. I also began to admire her family and traditionally visit China every year. I never knew how much China had to offer with its immense culture and beautiful historical architecture. Once I found out she got accepted into Carnegie Melon, I was ecstatic that Charleen would stay in the US a little bit longer just for me. I told her that my life in the Army would be temporary and I would move to Hong Kong for her in the future.

It was during her time in Carnegie Melon that I decided to ask for her hand in marriage during Valentine’s Day on 2016 in San Francisco. (Of course after I asked for her dad’s blessings, which I think he spoiled for her) Never did I regret making that decision and now I am proud to say that I am happily married to my wife and exited for our future endeavors and adventures!

I’ve already taken engagement shots. My wedding came and went. We don’t have any major anniversary coming up anytime soon. This Unexpected Color Palette is Perfect for Your Easter Brunch

Planning an Easter brunch this Sunday? Take a cue from this pretty inspiration captured by Riley Starr and infuse that table with color and a little greenery too. Beijos Events is giving your typical Easter decor a fresh twist with a pink and gold color palette + green vine details that touch everything from the tableware from The Little Market, to the spring florals by Olive & Blooms, and even the deviled eggs.

When planning an Easter table the first thing that comes to my mind is color! Spring is a great time of year to add some pops of yellows, pinks, and all sorts of brightness to your life. That was my plan with this table, also adding in my favorite metallic accents.

The Little Market has such amazing pieces for your table and their new white and gold china collection is one of my favorites! That bohemian feel to it caught my eye right away and they’re simplicity makes them easy to use for multiple occasions.

Another stand out are their pink moroccan print cups. They’re so pretty and a fun addition to the table. I also used their wood cutting boards as chargers, glassware and a pop with their yellow napkin.

Another way to add a pop is with linens. I love using Party Crush Studio for this as they have so many amazing fabric and color options. There’s something about a runner that just adds a bit of elegance to a table.

Florals always make a table and this one is no exception. Olive and Blooms created the perfect Spring arrangement with colors that complimented our gorgeous table. I also love adding loose greens to any tablescape, it always work no matter the season!

Blot and Dot did the amazing calligraphy on the invite, menus and place cards. It’s always nice to add those personal touches to each event you host, and it adds detail and color! Of course every occasion that has food involved is an occasion I want to be at! Colette’s Catering created the most delicious and colorful spread. That’s another must, pretty food! You want your guests eyes and belly to be happy of course!

You Won’t Believe This Elopement Isn’t an Editorial

This is not a styled shoot. We repeat, this is not a styled shoot. So you better believe we’re obsessed with this drop-dead-gorgeous couple’s modern elopement planned by Weddings by Silke, which took place at Masseria Moroseta. It is hard to pick what we love most about it all, but a strong contender is the bride’s beautiful and natural style, from her Cortana gown fit for Juliet to her romantic hair and makeup by Sara Onori and Frank Giacone. See it all in the dreamy gallery captured by Lilli Kad Photography.

Agnesa and Francesco are a very unconventional, modern couple. They knew they didn’t want the very traditional Italian wedding and decided to elope. It was always going to be hard and expensive to have their vision incorporated at a big, over-100-people wedding, and so they decided to have two celebrations. The first one was to celebrate their love with only a handful of their closest of friends, exactly the way they had imagined it. They found the Masseria Moroseta in Puglia, which was perfect, and they fell in love with this magical place. It has all the minimalistic elements that they love combined with the southern Italy feel.

Their wedding day started with waking up together at this magnificent venue, and they allowed Lillikad Photography to capture these intimate moments in bed before they prepared for their intimate ceremony together rather then separately. Agnesa wanted to feel comfortable and therefore got a beautiful, textured, simple gown from Cortana Bridal with the softest silk tulle you can imagine. Her styling was stunning as the makeup artist, Sara Onori, and the hairstylist, Frank Giacone, highlighted the natural prettiness of Agnesa. Francesco wore a dark blue suit and a white shirt, which complemented his magnificent eyes to perfection.

Floweraddicted Angelica created the beautiful bouquet in neutral, soft tones along the color palette of the venue. The ceremony on this hot day in September took place under a shady spot in the beautiful garden of the Masseria, which is filled with the prettiest plants of this area. Inspired by the venue, the styling of the stunning wedding table was kept very simple to highlight the minimalistic elements. Planner and stylist, Weddings by Silke, used just an antique white runner, napkins by Silk + Willow, and the beautiful handmade porcelain of the Masseria Moroseta.

The couple didn’t just enjoy the day at the Masseria, but also stayed a couple of nights there to really enjoy the venue. This was a completely modern – not traditional – elopement, which had our hearts singing. They had a few elements like the venue and the film photography they knew they wanted to ensure that the memory of this day would last forever. A month later, Agnesa and Francesco did have a big party that their family organized, which was to celebrate with their wider family and gave them the best of both worlds.

Rose Gold, Glamour + Smiles Galore For This Garden Wedding

There’s no denying that this whole wedding is absolutely gorgeous. One look through Stephanie Brazzle’s photos and we’re swooning. But look a little closer… and read this beautiful Bride’s story below – it’s the little details sprinkled about that make this wedding shine even brighter. The whole celebration takes places where this Bride and Groom got engaged (how sweet!), Rose, the Bride’s middle name, lends a lovely touch throughout, we spy some adorable doggie pins and so much more. We guarantee time spent in this gallery is time very, very well spent… see it all right this way! And don’t miss Lynn Films’ work below!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/241080778 600 338]

From the Bride… Two worlds collided when our mutual friends held a wedding on a balmy day in New York City: on one side, the groom’s nerdy friends from engineering school (Mitchell); the other, the bride’s designer friends from Manhattan (myself). We hit it off during the reception sitting at the single’s table. By the end of the night, I remember thinking, “Wow, this is the kind of guy I want to marry”.

After the wedding, we parted ways – Mitchell lived in Seattle and I lived in New York . We stayed in contact until Mitchell was able to visit NY again because of several business trips. The chemistry was undeniable, and a long distance relationship was born. After a year of back and forth between Seattle and New York, I took the brave step to move to Seattle! Finally being in the same city, we developed our relationship over food, traveling, hiking, and dogs! Later, on a trip home to visit my family, we picked a romantic dinner spot in Uptown Dallas at the Crescent Court Hotel. As we walked across the lush and intimate hotel courtyard to dinner, I thought “How spectacular would it be to get engaged or married out here.” After dinner, somehow having read my mind, Mitchell walked me outside to the courtyard and got down on one knee to pop the big question, “Will you marry me?”.

As we started our wedding planning, looking at venues both in Seattle and Dallas, we concluded that it only felt right to return to Hotel Crescent Court – in the very courtyard we got engaged in! The hotel’s Parisian ambiance made it easy for us to set our theme: black-tie attire, neutral palette, replete with classic romance. My middle name is Rose, and when Mitchell decided to pick out a rose-gold wedding ring to remind him of me, we quickly started gravitating to this color when it came to our wedding details. Thankfully, we found a planning team, Sweet Pea Events, that was based in both Seattle and Dallas and they were perfect for executing our vision for the day (Hooray for making long distance planning easier!).

Overall, our wedding day was magical: from the reunion of long-time friends, the intimate garden courtyard ceremony, the traditional Taiwanese Tea Ceremony to honor parents, the first dance, and our selfie grand send-off with our guests overlooking the terrace. We thank all of our vendors for making this night so special for us, our families, and our friends.

This Alfresco Wedding Came Together in Under 12 Weeks

You would never know that this botanical affair so beautifully captured by Jen Huang came together in under 4 months. Oh, but it did. With planner Copper Cricket Events leading the charge, a gorgeous historic estate was procured and the rest quickly fell into place. KD&J Botanica designed an alfresco celebration filled with layers of lush florals, and elegant details that all started with a ceremony held in front of a 100 year old hydrangea bush. See it all unfold right here.

From Jen, the photographer… I loved shooting this late summer wedding in Connecticut. The feminine details, the lush botanicals, the historic venue! It is so rare to see weddings al fresco on the east coast, this couple lucked out with the beautiful weather and sunlight! Everything about this wedding was intimate, fresh and gorgeous, not to mention they were just about the most romantic couple I’ve ever photographed.

From Rebecca, the planner: I first met the bride and groom in June and knew that I had to work quickly, with the wedding date set for early September. With not a lot of availability in venue choices at this late date, I reached out to some close friends and asked if they would be willing to host a wedding on their charming estate property.

The property, located in Redding, CT, built in the early 1900’s, consists of the main house with it’s exquisite French Normandy inspired architecture, a beautiful carriage house & adjacent antique barn. The bride, a confessed “lover of everything French” fell in love with the location at first glance.

We quickly got to planning with less than 12 weeks total to pull it all together. With the help of Katherine Jacob from KD&J Botanica, the design elements quickly took shape.
Holding my breath, I reached out to Jen Huang Photography in the hopes that she might be available and she was, just like that we had the beginnings of an amazing wedding on our hands.

The ceremony was held in front of one hundred year old hydrangea bushes which looked spectacular in full bloom. Wrought iron garden urns lined the aisle, filled with garden roses, lambs ear & andromeda. Large scale arrangements incorporating the stunning hydrangeas were placed at the entrance to the site.

Food was a very important element for this globetrotting couple and we wanted to weave the local farm produce and products into a menu that also incorporate their Italian heritage & love of French cuisine. Our team has a passion for farm to table fare, so we were excited to take this eclectic menu to the next level. Using local farms to source peaches for the salad course, lamb for the passed hors d’oeuvres and chicken for the entrée incorporating fresh herbs and thoughtful presentation of all the ingredients.

Bistro lighting zigzagged the blue sky above the dining tables and dance floor below. The Carriage House doors were opened on both sides with a cozy and charming lounge set up in front of the fireplace and a Champagne bar tucked in the corner. The other side housed the bountiful buffet dinner stations with an epicurean tea bar with Mariage Frères teas in a variety of flavors and Laduree macarons.

The wedding cake took center stage in the main hallway of the carriage house, not too far from the artfully arrangement escort card board draped with vines & dark chocolate velvet ribbon.

The dinner tables had thoughtful place settings using a wooden charger, custom linen napkins tied with velvet ribbon and a sprig of snowberries. Fresh whole and cut figs picked up the beautiful tones of the centerpieces that contained café au lait dahlias, chocolate cosmos, astilbe, lambs ear, garden roses & andromeda. Dark plum throw blankets were put on the backs of the chairs to warm up guests as the autumn evening turned to nighttime. A few fire pits were set up in-between the dining and bar area complete with the requisite s’mores station.

A custom bar built out of reclaimed wood was draped with hops vine & tucked into the opening of the barn doors. Illuminated by hanging lanterns & overlooking the dance floor, this quickly became the place to hang out.

The bride and groom stole a few private moments just down the road at New Pond Farm, sneaking in some beautiful photos with the rolling landscape as the backdrop and the belted Galloway cattle nearby to chaperone.

And the inspiration continues with all the decor by Ines Naftali Floral & Event Design. Our Pinterest boards not only got an upgrade with all this beauty but they took up it several stylish notches. From the Bride…

Mike and I met as undergrads at SMU in Dallas, TX. He was best friends with my roommate Geneva so they were always over at our apartment. He finally asked me to a formal two days before my 21st birthday and we’ve been together ever since! When it came to getting engaged about seven years later, he worked closely with my best friend and mom to pick out the ring. I was in business school at the time and he asked me if we could go to dinner during me studying for finals (which I had to be talked into). He said our friends Jenna and Taylor would be joining us for dinner so we went to their townhouse and went to the roof where he said they “must be up there watching the game.” I immediately saw the rose petals and Cheesecake Factory takeout bags (our first date!) and he was down on one knee. I then realized my best friend Lesley was videoing in from someone’s phone so the phone was taped up on the wall so she could watch, Taylor was hiding behind a couch filming and his roommate John was hiding in another room up there – all popped out afterwards and I had NO idea. We then went to dinner at Nonna with my mom and his parents who flew in and said promptly after dinner they were going to tuck in for the night. Only to pull up to our house where all our best friends were hiding to have a party and celebrate our engagement. He pulled a good one on me!!

I kept saying over and over to our planner Katie that I am/was the anti-bride. When we got engaged I had just lost my father and really would have been happy to have gotten married in our living room at home in Arkansas. I was also in school and just needed a minute to breathe before planning started. Once we selected the Biltmore, I immediately hired Katie and let her whip us in wedding planning shape. Since we live in Dallas and the wedding was in Miami, we knew already a majority of our friends would be traveling to attend. We loved the Biltmore because of it’s history and the old-world Spanish look and feel. In terms of colors, I was always attracted to the darker floral reds and doing something that didn’t feel too bridal or hadn’t been done already.

I think all of the preparation, waiting and anticipation of the day can make you feel anxious and question every decision but I loved how easy the day felt (shout out to Collins Coordination). Having all the big personalities in our lives in one place for the weekend was so much fun and the point of the wedding was to make sure all our guests had the time of their lives. From my bridesmaids dancing on stage with the band, to my Aunt Kitty’s face when she saw the Hora Loca come out to Mike dancing to “My Pony” by Ginuwine are some of my favorite memories and I can’t wait to relive these moments through photos for years to come. I’m also most thankful we could have the ceremony inside (damn Miami humidity) and we all had a reprieve from the heat during our record short ceremony time.

Sarah and Will from Simply Sarah were a dynamic duo and I trusted them implicitly for the moment we met. I am so excited about the images they captured and know the photos will be the most treasured memory from our big day for years and years to come.

7 Things You Can Outsource for Spring Cleaning

I have a love/hate relationship with spring cleaning. On one hand, it’s a refreshing and almost meditative process of detoxifying the home. On the other, my motivation declines about halfway through and it ends up taking me way too long to complete tasks (or I give up). My solution? Outsource the tasks I hate doing the most—because let’s face it, someone else is probably WAY better at getting the job done than I am. Below are a few tasks you can outsource if you’d rather not do them yourself!

Upholstery Cleaning

Have you ever had your furniture or slip covers professionally cleaned? It’s a dream! Spot cleaning can only get you so far, especially with babies and pets. If you’re having a hard time finding a professional upholstery cleaner in your area, search carpet cleaning services—some of those companies offer upholstery cleaning services as well.

Drapery

This is one most people forget about! Drapes and window coverings can collect so much dust and dirt and start to actually affect the air in your home, not to mention—start to smell funky. Bag them up and head to the local dry cleaner.

Window Washing

I think the only person I know that likes to wash windows is my mom. Unless you get some serious satisfaction out of this chore, it might be one you’d rather outsource.

Flooring

Floors are my least favorite chore. With a baby and a dog, my floors give me constant anxiety—keeping up with the hair and a little one who lives on the ground is never easy. Sound familiar? Or maybe you have zero babies or pets and you still cringe at vacuuming and mopping. Having a house cleaner come every couple of weeks to help with the deep cleaning is such a treat—and when it comes time for spring cleaning, hiring a professional company to come in is so worth the moola.

Car Detailing

My tip: have your car detailed at a dealership vs. a car wash/detailing company. Dealership detailers are constantly working on cars to be sold, so they do an incredible job. You’ll basically feel like you’re driving off the lot in a brand new car.

Fireplace

Chimney sweeping is one of those easy-to-forget tasks because it’s out of sight. But, it’s super important to do for safety matters. Hiring a professional is always a good idea!

Consignment Selling

Need to get rid of that growing pile in the attic but would rather not save it for the summer yard sale? Hire a consignment seller to sell your items on eBay, Craigslist, etc. They’ll take a small commission from your sale and you won’t have to worry about the back and forth with potential customers, which can be time consuming.

We Think Outdoor Weddings Are Worth the Extra Work + Here’s Why

Planning an outdoor wedding can be a bit intimidating – the blank canvas of an open air space certainly calls for a lot of imagination, and there’s rarely pre-existing furniture to work with! But let me tell you, ladies, it’s so worth the extra effort. Take this LBB Wedding of the Week for example – A Savvy Event created a bespoke set up at Meadowood Napa Valley, curating pieces from Bright Event Rentals, Found Rentals, BBJ Linen, and Theoni for this alluring, all-white celebration. Check out the amazing spaces they created, from the romantic ceremony beneath the trees to the light and airy feel of the reception, captured by The Edges Wedding Photography and Kindlewood Films.

Mackenzie and Cullen were college sweethearts. They met at UCLA, where Cullen played water polo. On their first date, they dressed up as Sandy and Danny from Grease for a themed fraternity date party, and the rest was history.

The bride and groom are originally from San Diego and Marin County, respectively. Mackenzie had always dreamed of getting married in Southern California, but none of the venues they toured felt quite right, so they headed north to wine country. From the moment they stepped foot on property, Mackenzie and Cullen knew that Meadowood Napa Valley was the perfect place to start their lives together, surrounded by their friends and family who came from across the State of California to witness their special day. They loved that each portion of the day had its own location, tucked away across the sprawling property. The natural beauty and understated elegance that Meadowood offered was the perfect complement to their predominantly white wedding color palette.

The first “wow” moment of the day for the guests came in the form of flowers by Chestnut and Vine. The bride’s mother worked with Svenja of Chestnut and Vine to surprise Mackenzie with the stunning ceremony flowers, including a cascading arch for the bride and groom to say their “I dos” under. The bride and groom wrote their own vows for an emotion filled ceremony. Mackenzie said they were “teary-eyed, laughing hysterically, and smiling from the happiness and sweetness” throughout the entire ceremony, and they both felt blessed to share those emotions and moments with their family and friends.

Another highlight was the signature cocktails, specifically the Manhattan. An oversized ice cube and M+C embossed monogram that was emblazoned into an orange peel really set the tone for the evening and kicked off cocktail hour with an unforgettable detail. As residents of San Francisco, Mackenzie and Cullen are seasoned foodies, and fine dining was a must-have at their wedding. The staff at Meadowood blew them away with the flavor of the cuisine, the delivery, and their attention to detail in every part of dinner service. The first course was a Maine lobster and mango salad, followed by a Dungeness crab ravioli. Finally, guests were served a beef tenderloin, which was the groom’s personal favorite.

They ended their evening dancing to mo-town style tunes from the KJ All Stars. One of the bride’s favorite moments was dancing her heart out with her closest friends to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” which was an unexpected addition to the band’s playlist. The bride and groom’s attention to every detail carried through to dancing, where they had light up tambourines, necklaces, ice cubes for the cocktails, and sunglasses! The guests got to let loose, and the dance floor was never empty.

Mackenzie and Cullen’s timeless design and classic taste created an elegant evening at Meadowood Napa Valley. Looking back, the couple said they felt so surrounded by love the entire day and blessed to have been able to share their wedding day with their closest friends and family.

10 Things To Do Before Baby Arrives

My pregnancy went a little something like this… First trimester: survival mode. Second trimester: this is so fun! Third trimester: this shit is getting REAL. Those last few months before you meet your little one can be exhausting, exciting and at times, a little overwhelming. With plenty of before-baby to dos, it can be easy to feel like you’re forgetting something. If you’re looking for a bit of motivation, run through this quick list!

Learn How To Swaddle

This video is super helpful!

Baby Laundry

Laundry isn’t an exciting chore on the usual to do list, but when it’s tiny, adorable attire for your sweet one on the way, it becomes and exciting task! Washing, folding and organizing all of baby’s clothes before they arrive is a great way to prep and be ready when little one comes.

Choose a Pediatrician

Here is a guide that I personally found helpful.

Research Your Feeding Method

Whether you’re planning to breast feed or bottle feed, get familiar with different feeding methods and specific details about what you plan to do. It’s always good to arm yourself with the basic knowledge beforehand. If you’re planning to breast feed, lactation consultants are usually available to help in the hospital. Also, if you’ll need a breast pump, you can order a free one through insurance about a month before your due date!

Have a Plan for Announcing

There are lots of fun ways to announce your little one’s arrival—from classic birth announcements to spreading the news on social media. Come up with a game plan for how you want to share your news with the world.

Set-up Sleeping Arrangements

Having a complete nursery isn’t a necessity right away if you’d prefer to wait or need more time—but setting up a sleep game plan is a must, whether you are choosing to co-sleep or put baby in the crib from day one.

Set-up Changing Stations

Once baby arrives and you’re settled at home, the last thing you’ll want to do is organize changing stations. We found it helpful to set up a changing area downstairs and upstairs for convenience and to this day, still use both with our one year old! Take some time to set up those areas beforehand—you’ll be thankful you did.

Research Childcare, If You’ll Need It

Childcare might not be something you want to think about when you haven’t even met your bundle of joy yet (it was the last thing on my mind!). As tough as it is, if you’re going back to work it’s crucial to get a head start so you can feel completely comfortable with your choice—rather than pushing it off and narrowing your options.

Send Out Baby Shower Thank-Yous

The last thing you want to have on your mind after baby comes are random to-do’s like sending baby shower thank yous. Do yourself a favor and send them out before that due date!

Evoking the Beauty of Provence in an LA Zipcode

This Greystone Mansion affair captured by Sally Pinera speaks to the undeniable beauty of California. With the feel of Provence and a Beverly Hills zip code, planner CCL Weddings crafted a day filled with color, culture and heart. It’s a love born and bread in Los Angeles and you can see it all unfold right here.

From the Bride and Groom… Alvin and I met at church a handful of years before we actually started dating. We never really said more than two words to each other until that fated day that we coincidentally sat next to each other at an Angel’s baseball game. We talked. And talked and talked. Shared some laughs. And even glanced over at the game a couple times. Not too long after, we went on our first date. Which was followed by many other dates. From Disneyland to Sequoia to the Mojave Dessert, we shared many memories together.

[Fast-forward two and a half years.] Alvin took me to one of our first date spots — Griffith Observatory. LA city lights in the background and rose petals all around. Alvin read through a scrapbook of memories that he made (that he made. HE made!), got down on one knee and popped the question of a lifetime. And of course I said yes!

When it came to planning for our wedding, our wedding planner (Catherine from CCL; the best planner ever!) definitely helped bring everything to life. I did a trip through Provence, France a few years back and fell in love. I would’ve loved to get married in one of their vineyards or outside of a French chateau, but what was more important was having all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us. Given that we are both from California, we knew there was no better place to get married. And what made it more perfect is that we found a venue in Beverly Hills that took us right back to Provence. Sunny Southern California plus European-esque venue? I’d say that’s a double win.

Our wedding day was filled with so many wonderful moments that we really can’t pick a favorite. Here is a breakdown of the highlights: Getting ready with my mom and my girls. Doing two first looks — one with my husband-to-be and another with my dad. Having the most important people in our lives watch us say our vows before God. Surprising our guests by doing a choreographed routine from Alvin’s favorite movie, White Chicks. Eating to our heart’s content thanks to Hungry Bear Catering. Watching our guests scramble to find all of the Hidden Mickey’s throughout our wedding. And simply being in the presence of our beloved family and friends, who have been cheering us on since day one. We loved every moment, and we are so happy that we get to share a bit of this day through our wedding photos and videos. We’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!

The 6 Must-Have Elements for a Perfect Wedding Welcome Bag

Welcoming wedding guests with a perfect wedding welcome bag upon their arrival for your weekend is the perfect way to kick off the celebration in style while pampering those you love! We’ve rounded up the 6 must-have elements to help you craft welcome bags that are sure to wow your guests and provide for their every need!

Something Local
To start things off including a local snack is a wonderful way to connect guests to the locale. Maybe you’re welcoming out of town guests to Chicago; consider including Chicago mix popcorn! If you’re hosting a Lowcountry soiree in Charleston, consider including pralines, a quintessentially southern treat!

For out of town guests who aren’t familiar with the area a local touch in their wedding welcome bag is a fun way to get them connected to a place that is special to you and your fiancée.

An Itinerary
A weekend itinerary is not only a practical element to include in a perfect wedding welcome bag, it is also a beautiful way to carry over the stationery motif of aesthetic that was present in your invitations! Guests will enjoy getting a nice note from you and an itinerary is the easiest way to disseminate information regarding weekend transportation and various wedding events.

Chances are your wedding guests didn’t actually bring their wedding invitation with them for the weekend so they’ll need to know all the pertinent details for the weekend! A map is also a great (and adorable) item to include in the itinerary to help guests get their bearings!

A Beverage
I always hate when a hotel room has a few bottles of water on the credenza but they aren’t complimentary. After a long trip, a nice beverage is a welcome treat.

Once again a drink is a great way to personalize your perfect wedding welcome box! If your fiancée is known for their Diet Coke addiction then why not include a can or two in your boxes?

A Lifesaver for After the Wedding
A few painkillers or a cute hangover kit will be a welcome addition for guests who enjoyed celebrating late into the night.

A Container
Whether you choose a wire basket, a canvas market tote, or a colored cardboard box, the options are truly endless when it comes to your welcome box container! The container you chose is another great way to reinforce your overall wedding aesthetic and keep with the overall look and feel of your day!

Something fun!
A wedding welcome box is a fun way to connect with your wedding guests while keeping your day unique to you as a couple! Choosing elements that connect to you as a couple and your shared history is a fun way to share your relationship story with your guests! If you both went to college in Florida, candy orange slices are a fun element to include! Maybe you met on New Year’s Eve; why not include a split of champagne as a nod to that special night?

As you’re crafting your wedding welcome boxes something to consider is how many people they should include provisions for. Are you going to give boxes one per room or one per guest? It is simplest to gift items one per room but include two of every treat so that couples each get a little something!

Another thing to consider is your level of stress in the wedding planning process. While sourcing elements for a wedding welcome box can be a fun project if you’re feeling overwhelmed consider outsourcing to a gifting company who can curate the perfect box for you! Plenty of gifting companies will handle sourcing items, putting together boxes, and delivering them to your hotels if you want to go that route!

So tell us, what are the best items you’ve ever seen in a wedding welcome box?

From Teenagers In Love to a Very Special Happily Ever After!

This wedding is straight out of a romantic movie: boy meets girl at boarding school, they fall in love, he proposes and then when they make it official, they decide to do so in the same picturesque area where they first met, with an epically elegant farm fete. But this isn’t Hollywood’s latest release; it’s the real life story of Henry and Charlotte, and Kelly Kollar captured it all for our viewing pleasure. S. Lewis & Son even got in on the live action with their film below! Sit back, relax and soak up this winner for the rest of the week!

From the Bride… My husband, Henry, and I met as teenagers at a boarding school (Hotchkiss) in Lakeville, Connecticut, a town that is still very much trapped in time. That part of the world is magical to us and it felt right to get married in the same place where we first fell in love. I grew up in New York City, so I had always envisioned a very classic and elegant city wedding. Once we decided to get married in Lakeville, however, I had to shift that vision to a farm. The word that I kept coming back to was romantic. We were getting married at a young age (25 and 26), so I wanted our wedding to reflect the beauty and innocence of that youth. Early on, I picked a color palate of soft pinks, greens and off-whites, which tied into the flowers, the invitation suite and the bridesmaids dresses. I was intent on having a crest to use on our “Save the Date” that could flow throughout the rest of our invitation. I came across Gina Langford on Instagram and fell in love with her work – the crest that she made for us helped set the tone and guide the rest of the decisions for the wedding.

Choosing a dress was definitely the hardest part of the planning process. At the very first salon I went to, the consultant said “The happiest brides are the ones who try on the least number of dresses.” I unfortunately didn’t take her advice to heart, and tried on almost 100 dresses (I have pictures of myself in dresses that some of my friends have since chosen – the odds of me having tried it on at some point are pretty high!). I kept coming back to a blush Monique Lhuillier dress, which was the fourth dress I had tried on. It had really subtle detail in the tulle, but overall was very simple. I struggled with the decision because I could tell that my mother thought the dress was boring, and I myself worried that it was boring. On my tenth trip to a bridal salon, I took my dad with me. I tried on a bunch of dresses, all of which he was very supportive of, but in a very fatherly way. I put on the blush Monique dress at the end and his face lit up. I knew it was the one. I felt very much like myself in that dress – and that is exactly how I wanted to feel on my wedding day.

My favorite moment of the day was the car ride in the convertible from the church to the reception. We drove past Hotchkiss on our way, and it felt surreal to be riding in the open air as an officially married couple past the place where we had our first kiss.

I’ll try not to be cliché, but I have two pieces of advice for brides-to-be: 1) Take a moment to yourself on your wedding day. I woke up early on my wedding day and spontaneously went for a run. I had a chance to clear my head and really take in what was about to happen. You’re surrounded by people for the whole day, so for someone like me who is an introvert at heart, it was recharging to get some time on my own. 2) Write letters to each other and to your loved ones. Not only did I write a letter to Henry, but I wrote a letter to each of my parents, each of my siblings, my grandmother and Henry’s parents. It was a way for me to say thank you to the people I love most.

Don’t Miss the Most Epic Engagement Shoot Ever

This may be the most epic engagement session of all time! For three days, this stylish couple explored the Wanaka region of New Zealand’s South Island, accompanied by Feather and Stone Photography. Their adventures took them through rolling hills plus stunning fields of lupins and lavender, on a helicopter flight to the top of a mountain, and beside tranquil glacial waters. Umm…Can you say, “Yes, please!”? Obviously, this is a gallery that cannot be missed and is seriously the best way to start your week.

From Feather and StoneEdith and Brian live in Hong Kong and are planning a Bali destination wedding with Paper Diamond Weddings, but for their pre-wedding photoshoot, they wanted to travel to a destination full of grand landscapes and sweeping scenery. After much deliberation, they settled on New Zealand, and after many months of planning for their shoot, we all rendezvoused in Wanaka on the South Island. We planned the itinerary and styled the entire three day shoot including multiple gowns and outfit changes, hair and makeup, stunning floral design, and beautiful handwritten calligraphy vows. For three days, we ventured throughout the entire region, wandering through fields of wildly growing lupins, taking early morning helicopter flights to the tops of mountains, frolicking in lavender fields, exchanging private vows beside a glacial lake, and walking through the rolling hills of the Lindis Valley. We created imagery and shared an experience that none of us will ever forget.
