Real Wedding: Lisa and Benjamin, III

Loving, loving, loving today’s real wedding that was sent to us by the gorgeous bride and was photographed by Little Black Book photographer, Tanja Lippert

More from the bride…

I really wanted to incorporate our mothers in the ceremony, but didn’t really like the unity candle or rose idea since it’s done all the time. My bridesmaid Shari Bare shoots a lot of weddings in Florida and she told me about the mixing sand idea. I wanted to do something unique, so I played on the sand idea with a twist. I had Benjamin’s mother bring soil from France and I had my mother bring soil from my hometown in Missouri. During the ceremony we had the mothers mix the soil in a vintage scale. It represented the blending of the families and the base for our union to take root and grow strong.

Real Wedding: Lisa and Benjamin, II

We are featuring another fabulous Sonoma wedding today, this one shot by the incredible Tanja Lippert. The bride, Lisa, is such a beauty and she has been gracious enough to share so many fun details from her big day…

tanja lippert

From the bride, Lisa…

I started by designing a logo identity system for myself and Benjamin with our initials. Our initials spell out pound (lb.) so I had the whole ceremony revolve around a “weight, balance, pound” idea. I bought some vintage kitchen scales for the centerpieces and used photos of scales I photographed as an image that consistently showed up throughout all the collateral. I even wrote most of our ceremony based on other non-traditional ceremonies. Our friend Kim was our officiant and he read the entire ceremony in French first and then English. That was probably the best part because Some of Benjamin’s family who came from France do not know English.

So much more to come!

Real Wedding: Lisa and Benjamin

Today’s featured wedding is so ridiculously gorgeous, it’s hard to think of the appropriate introduction. First of all, it was shot by one of my all time favorite photographers, Tanja Lippert (you remember THIS wedding that Tanja photographed a while back). Secondly, the bride and her dress are…well, gorgeous. And lastly, the details are perfection. Total perfection.

So, without further ado, here is the first look at Lisa and Benjamin’s September wedding…

Here are some fun details from the gorgeous bride, Lisa…

After proposing to me on Santorini, Benjamin and I came back to San Francisco and immediately started looking for a winery location. We knew we wanted this because he is French and it was a nod to his heritage. Also, my top priority for the day was location, photographer and dress. I’ve been a graphic designer for over 15 years now, so having all the design elements just right were ultra important.

Stay tuned to see the gorgeous design elements that Lisa crafted!

SMP Loves…RedBliss

Christine Traulich of RedBliss just might be the person to thank for my career in the wedding industry. I fell head over heals in love with her work years ago when I worked for a stationery store in San Francisco. I had never seen such luxurious, such creative work and to this day, I still think that she reigns as the queen of all things beautiful. Check out her gorgeous site when you need a little wedding pick-me-up!

Real Wedding: Erin and Seth, IV

Thank you so much to Jenne Hohn for sending us pictures from today’s featured wedding! It’s that splash of warmth and summertime that we SO needed!

A few more last tidbits from Jenne…

As the evening twilight turned into darkness, dancing candlelight and twinkling lights added an element of romance and enchantment.  During the cake cutting, Erin surprised Seth with apple pies from his aunt’s special recipe.  The cakes and pies were surrounded by vintage photos of both families.  Chocolate and port were served around a fire pit for guests taking a break from the dance floor.

To add an element of fun, Erin requested school buses to transport the guests back to the hotel.  Groups of guests boarded the buses gleefully at night’s end.  The buses offered a final glimpse of the couple’s clever personality and heaps of laughter to the already joy-filled day – a perfect way to end the magnificent weekend.

Meredith and Jeremiah’s Wildflower Wedding by Stella Alesi

Today’s featured wedding is so sweet. Our good friend and Little Black Book member Stella Alesi of Stella Alesi Photography sent us Meredith and Jeremiah’s lovely wedding. I’m not kidding when I say this wedding is just dripping with charm.  Just look at the gorgeous bouquets and prepare to swoon!

M+J Board 1

The awesome invitations doubled as programs and were designed by John Bell.

Aren’t the flowers stunning? It looks like Meredith just scooped up a bunch from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center, where she and Jeremiah were married in Austin, TX, and carried them down the aisle. I LOVE that! Not to mention, Meredith’s bridesmaids dresses provide a beautifully simple black backdrop for the vivid colors in the bouquets. I am going to stop raving about the flowers and move on to the awesome invitations that doubled as programs which were designed by John Bell. Fab!

This wedding looks like it was a lot of fun. Jeremiah’s vintage style western suit adds a ton of uniqueness to this event.  Take a peek at some of the other fantastic details from this event.

M+J Board 3

I have got to say that the keepsake bells and the bicycles are probably two of the cutest ideas I’ve seen yet. And also, the cactus touches in the centerpieces are a great way to keep with the floral theme with just a little touch of diversion from the expected. Thank you Stella for sending us such a fun wedding! If you want to see more of Stella’s fun and fabulous work. take a peek at her website or her blog!

Real Wedding: Erin and Seth, III

We are featuring a warm, Summer inspired Sonoma Valley wedding that the fabulous Jenne Hohn sent us. The couple is absolutely gorgeous and really made the entire wedding style seem to come alive. Take a peek!

Here are a few more fun details from Jenne

The joy-filled ceremony was followed by a reception at the Winery’s amphitheater.  Owned by one of the Doobie Brothers, Bruce Cohn, the Amphitheater is the perfect place for afternoon refreshment (and the occasional rock concert).  After the couple had some time to mingle and enjoy the cocktail hour, guests were led to the property’s beautiful Olive Grove.  A true sense of family and friendship was felt by guests who dined on long tables surrounded by olive trees.  Tables were draped in festive yellow linens and coordinating flowers in sunbursts of gold and orange.

Also, here is a quick rundown of some of the main vendors…the flowers, which are so beautiful, were designed by Lavender Floral, the gorgeous cake was crafted by Sweetie Pie’s, the Hair and Make-Up were done by It’s a Date and the catering was done by Alex’s Catering.

More to come!

Real Wedding: Erin and Seth

Today’s beautiful featured wedding was sent to us by the oh-so-talented Jenne Hohn. It’s so dreamy, so utterly romantic, I honestly couldn’t wait to share it with you…

It helps that the bride is so ridiculously gorgeous, the setting is out of a movie and the sun seems to be giving the couple it’s blessing. Here are a few more of the details from Jenne

On wedding day, guests were shuttled to Fox Hill at B.R. Cohn and greeted with seasonal berry lemonade.  Surrounded by estate vineyards, Fox Hill is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Sonoma wine country.  Elegant jazz music played as guests waited for the ceremony to begin.  Erin had custom-made ceremony program fans printed and offered yellow umbrellas if guests needed cooling.  The ceremony commenced as the wedding party made their way to the altar beneath an ancient oak tree.  Seth and his gentleman arrived first and waited for the glorious Erin to arrive.  Timed perfectly, the ladies processed down a grapevine-lined pathway followed by the climactic presentation of Erin by her father.

Real Wedding: Erin and Seth

A part of me just wants to take the day off…I am still recovering from the lazy, lazy holidays. But I have to say, when I saw this wedding, I got so excited, I just had to post it. Erin and Seth’s GORGEOUS Sonoma wedding was sent to me by one of our favorite Little Black Book wedding planners, Jenne Hohn. If there was ever a wedding that would make us really want the Spring to come say hello, it’s this one…

Jenny Hohn

The oh-so-talented, Jenne Hohn, has been sweet enough to stop by and share a few of the gorgeous details with us!

Erin and Seth were married at B.R. Cohn Winery in Sonoma, CA on Saturday, August 23, 2007.  The gorgeous couple’s wedding weekend started with a Thursday evening rehearsal dinner at El Dorado Kitchen on the historic Sonoma Square.  Both avid oenophiles, a Friday afternoon wine tour served as a bachelor and bachelorette party for the couple and their closest friends.  A Friday evening Welcome Party was a great way for family and friends to mingle poolside at the Flamingo Hotel.

So much more to come!

SMP Loves…Gleenashop

I spotted this gorgeous china by Gleenashop over on the Etsy Wedding Blog and fell in love. Each piece is so delicate, so beautifully crafted in a perfect rustic, chic style. I am tempted to buy each and every piece, though if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the organic serving set with the perfect butterfly detail.

Real Wedding by John Partridge, V

Thank you so very much to John Partridge for sending us today’s fabulously chic Palm Springs wedding. It was just the thing that we needed to pick us up after the holidays and get the inspiration going!

John has a ton of gorgeous eye candy on his site, so definitely definitely definitely check it out when you have some time!

Visions of Sugarplums

Two night’s ago, I was thinking of the traditional poem, “T’was The Night Before Christmas…”. My home was silent, the stockings were hung, and the glow from the tree lights was so peaceful to me. And, quite naturally my thoughts turned to Abby and her visions of sugarplums

Abby’s original concept for Style Me Pretty came shortly after planning her own dream wedding. She hopes to fill your heads with visions for your wedding on a daily basis. Knowing that everyone’s dreams differ, she set out to provide you with as many styles and varieties of weddings that brides and grooms around the world could use as a stepping stone for planning their own fanciful weddings. Incorporating style with tradition, whimsy with timelessness.

And so, to help you dream a little more … we have a few additional photos of two lovely weddings from Amanda at Orchard Cove Photography.

Real Wedding by John Partridge, III

Today, we are featuring the most dreamy California wedding you’ve ever seen. It’s sophisticated, it’s elegant and yet it seems completely intimate and fun. John Partridge is the amazing photographer that sent me the images…

I looooove the candles that are surrounding the pool. Such an easy way to create an incredibly chic ambiance. I also really love the overall wedding style…the rustic, wood chairs paired with the elegance of calla lilies, simple cream linens and candles absolutely everywhere.

Real Wedding by John Partridge, II

The oh-so-talented John Partridge sent me this absolutely gorgeous wedding…that will hopefully give you a glimpse into a look that is all about that laid back, California Chic style.

The event design was crafted by the girls at Chic Events…who did a beautiful job bringing a sense of easy elegance to the day. The style was reflected in every detail, from the pretty fans gracing the chairs to the incredibly elegant table settings. The gorgeous florals were designed by the fabulous Stephanie Grace.

SMP Loves…Cheree Berry!

I fell in love with Cherre Berry a couple of years back when I had a small stationery studio in Silicon Valley, California. Her work is flawless. The papers are so ridiculously gorgeous, the letterpress work is stunning and the designs, oh the designs. They are so chic, so fresh. They are timeless with a touch of whimsy, elegant with a touch of charm. Love, love, love.

Real Wedding by John Partridge

I hope that everyone had a great holiday! I had a ball having Audrey’s first Christmas with my husband’s family in Florida. I am a little slow to get going today, thanks to the ridiculous amount of chocolate that I ate yesterday, but I do have a pretty spectacular wedding to share with you! Let’s get right to it!

This wedding was shot by the wonderfully talented John Partridge this past October at the Cielo Estate in Palm Springs…

Vermont Wedding From Orchard Cove: Adrienne and Justin

Amanda Herzberger at Orchard Cove Photography has sent us some pretty amazing weddings, but this one is filled to over-flowing with such special touches … you are going to be enormously delighted! From the Vermont setting, the table decor, the fun family traditions, the bird motif, and the candy buffet … there’s a lot to see!

Orchard Cove Vermont Round Barn Wedding Adrienne Justin

Adrienne and Justin were married in October. The afternoon Catholic ceremony was held in Waterbury, Vemont. The reception followed at the historic Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield.

Adrienne Justin Orchard Cove Church Veil Christos Wedding Dress

Adrienne’s dress is by Christos. Isn’t the detailing stunning?

As guests arrived, little bells were handed out to the guests to use in Adrienne and Justin’s send-off (or so they thought!).  Much to the couple’s surprise, and thanks to her clever mom, their first kiss was rewarded by the sound of tinkling bells throughout the church. Adrienne says it’s a sound she will always remember with great joy! So cute!

What beautiful colors { … and the look on that calf’s face made me bust out laughing} !

Now, on to the reception … and this is where the details get truly amazing …

from Adrienne:  As a child, I was always really into the idea of an enchanted forest and “The Secret Garden”.  When our wedding planning started, I immediately knew that I wanted the reception to have a woodsy feel and the barn was an ideal setting. When the guests first entered the barn there was a big old wagon that presented us with the perfect opportunity to wow them.  I had our florists cover the wagon  with moss and grass that they had grown in their studio. Our escort “cards” were stuck into the grass to look like wooden flower markers. In addition to the floral arrangements that were made, the florists actually dug up tree saplings from the woods and fastened them to the beams.  They also hung lanterns that I purchased at Ikea onto the branches. It really created the perfect first impression and set the rustic, foresty tone I had dreamed of …

Round Barn Farm Wedding From Orchard Cove Photography Adrienne Justin

I wanted the centerpieces to look as if they were just growing out of tree stumps. The tall centerpieces consisted of white orchids mixed with manzanita branches and curly willow set into a vase wrapped with birch bark and topped with moss. The shorter centerpieces had the same birch wrapped vases with moss and ferns, roses, lisianthus, and ranunculus. We had candles in mosaic glass throughout the room and on the tables.  My mother tirelessly worked on the table numbers which consisted of wooden stands that she covered with moss and small birds nests.  The actual numbers were spray-painted and stuck into the nests.  We also included mini mushrooms that I had purchased online.  To top off the table settings, my mother found gold bird salt and pepper shakers which were absolutely adorable.  For table runners we purchased light sage brocade curtains that we had found online (on sale – love it!) and my grandmother cut and sewed them into runners.   We echoed the foresty feel in our wedding cake as well which was made to look like birch bark with flowers and ferns and two finches.  And again, our candy bar was covered with moss and signs made to look like flower markers, and mini mushrooms...

We’ve shown you some pretty great candy buffets on Style Me Pretty … but this is one of the best we’ve seen! If you’re going to do candy … this is the way to do it!

To back-track just a bit … Adrienne’s family was full of surprises!

from Adrienne … Right before the cocktail hour ended, my family decided to spring a few more surprises on us.  I am originally from Germany but moved to the States when I was a child.  Aside from my parents and brother 90% of our immediate family still lives in Germany.  I was fortunate that a good number of my family was able to come to the weddig.  And with them they brought some German traditions that I had no idea we were going to partake in.  First up was the tradition of cutting a log. The log represents the first obstacle that the couple must overcome in their marriage.  The couple then demonstrates their ability to work together and overcome the obstacle by sawing through the log.  The next tradition was cutting out a big heart drawn on a sheet which also had pictures of us all over it.  Cutting out the heart and then having the groom carry the bride through the opening of the sheet is the German equivalent to carrying the bride over the threshold.  Lastly, we released a cluster of balloons into the air with blessings and good wishes from our family and friends.

German traditions log sawing stepping through sheet balloon send-off

This wedding from Orchard Cove Photography embodies the spirit of Style Me Pretty! Your Wedding–Your Way–Your Style!!  So much of Adrienne & Justin’s wedding was a family effort. So many so-so-special touches that will live on in their hearts forever.

We can’t leave you without a final parting shot of Adrienne’s SMP’s-LBBB’s-now-famous-wedding-shoe-shot (first featured here on the LIttle Black Book Blog).
