[field title=”Proposal Story”]

In late December 2021, after almost 5 years of dating, Eric and I were hanging out at home when he suggested that we grab some sushi by the beach and then enjoy the sunset together. If there are two things we love the most outside of our dog Leo, it’s eating sushi and being at the beach, so this was not out of the ordinary for us on a Friday night. Not thinking too much of it and it being a relatively chilly night, I threw on a matching sweat set and Eric asked me, “Are you sure you want to wear that?” This caught me by surprise because a sweatshirt is basically my everyday uniform and is frequently worn by me, so I jokingly said, “Why are you going to propose or something?” Completely kidding and not realizing that he in fact would be proposing that night and the only reason he asked me about my outfit was because it wasn’t any sweat suit, it was a new sweatsuit I had just purchased from a popular podcast show called “Call Her Daddy” and the sweatsuit read “UNWELL” across the entire chest and down the leg. Looking back at the photos now, all we do is laugh because you can see the pure happiness on our faces, and then my entire outfit says Unwell on it. We then grabbed our golden retriever Leo and headed to our local sushi spot at the beach, where we had dined many times before and enjoyed a cozy date night together. I noticed that Eric kept ordering more and more food at dinner not knowing that he was trying to kill time to make sure that the vendor he hired to create a romantic set-up on the beach for us had enough time to put everything together and that our friend who is a photographer was able to get set up and hide for us. After what was probably 30 rolls later, we started walking to the beach just up the street, and I let our pup Leo off the leash to run on the sand next to us to watch the sunset together. As we got closer to the water, I saw Eric turn around and look at me, and I noticed there was a blanket set up with pillows on the sand, and as we got closer, I realized that there were framed photos of us sitting on the blankets, with champagne and flowers. I was completely shocked, and it all hit me at once that this was happening right here, right now. When we got to the ban, Eric got down on one knee and, through tears and laughter, and our dog beside him, he asked me if I would marry him. It was everything and more that I could have wanted. A completely intimate experience, just the two of us and our dog and the beautiful sunset behind us. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn’t realize that our good friend, the photographer, was completely in disguise and was able to capture the entire proposal for us. We’re able to treasure these photos now (and laugh at my outfit of choice) and are so grateful to have had her there for that experience. After soaking in the proposal, the sunset, and now being officially fiance, we headed back to our apartment where we had family waiting to surprise us. We got to celebrate all together and soak in the love that we felt with each other and with our loved ones. It truly was the most special day of our lives outside of our wedding day and was the perfect start to the next chapter of our lives together.

Guests were greeted with welcome champagne garnished with edible flowers as soon as they arrived on the property. During cocktail hour, they enjoyed Cilantro Pesto Grilled Shrimp Skewers, Orange and Mint Infused Watermelon Skewers, Roasted Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta, and Chicken Parmesan Meatballs. Their dinner began with bread for the table, a deconstructed Shaved Asparagus and Arugula Salad, and a plated meal of Herbed Filet Medallion or Rosemary Garlic Grilled Chicken. They finished off the night with a vast assortment of mini desserts – tiramisu shooters, Italian wedding cookies, mini cannolis, and lemon honey ricotta cheesecake bites.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals followed the coastal and colorful theme! Our incredible florist, Tiffany, with Ida Mayes, created a true vision with the blooms for the day. Their ceremony design featured a collection of monofloral designs, some in vessels and some seemingly growing on their own, for a high-movement and almost Parisian aesthetic that felt very natural, as if just gathered from the garden. Paired with a wooden bench at the altar, these staggered baskets of blooms gave height and visual interest. Umbrellas at the ceremony gave guests much-needed shade as well! Cocktail hour felt light and breezy with a semicircle bar, statement seating chart, and mixed cocktail tables and bistro seating. In the reception space, luxe light wood tables topped with abundant floral and gorgeous place setting stacks set the tone for a night of great food and dancing. The custom checkered dance floor continued the light wooden material motif and was set below a stunning floral installation set on the ceiling with baskets of flowers seemingly pouring out onto the floor. The dancing area was flocked by bar-height tables and woven barstools for guests to sit next to the action.

A small cutting cake was the center of the dessert table, but was accompanied by several smaller desserts for a grab-and-go station.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

I feel like there can be a lot of pressure on a bride’s wedding day to have the “perfect” day and honestly what mattered the most to me outside of marrying the love of my life was making sure that our friends and family who all travelled from the east coast and west coast to join us felt just as special, loved, and appreciated for making the trip to celebrate us and know that we were also thinking of the perfect day for them too. I give all the credit to our amazing vendors that we worked with and the focus that they had on all the little details that brought our vision to life. It’s hard to choose a favorite detail, but the overall design of the wedding was a dream come true. From the smallest details like the fresh flowers in the fluted champagne glasses when guests arrived, to the welcome table design that tied in the coastal element we wanted to incorporate into the day, alongside our polaroid guest book, to the insanely gorgeous ceremony aisle and beautiful string trio that we could hear throughout the ceremony and cocktail hour. It was all a dream and even better than I could have imagined. My favorite design element was probably the hanging flower installation in the reception area above the dance floor. This was such a statement piece and made it feel like we were dancing under a magical garden. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how gorgeous the florals were, and I truly felt that Tiffany, our florist, took our vision and brought it to life in a next-level way.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Outside of the design details from the day, our favorite memories were just being surrounded by our loved ones throughout every minute of the day. We intentionally had a smaller-sized wedding so that we could really spend time with each person on the day of. My favorite moment of getting ready was being able to gift my mom, sister, future sister in laws, and mother-in-law handwritten letters that I had made for each of them expressing my love and gratitude for each of one of them and the roles that they have played in not just my life but also in Eric and I’s love story from the beginning. Seeing them receive and read the letters was special and a moment I’ll cherish forever.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

By far, though, the best part of the day was, of course, marrying Eric and being officiated by his Uncle Mike. Hearing each other’s vows, holding each other’s hands, exchanging rings, and knowing that we were committing our lives together as one in front of our dearest friends and family was something we will always cherish and remember. It truly was a magical moment and day from start to finish, and I wish we could live it over again and again.

(Answered by Bride) For us, the idea was never to have a strict color scheme. We wanted everything to feel natural and vibrant—something that complemented the stunning Colorado views rather than competing with them. We went with blues and greens for the bridesmaids’ dresses and added pops of color throughout the floral arrangements and décor to keep things fresh and bold.

Tommy and I have been to over 20 weddings together, so we’ve seen it all—each wedding with its beauty, its energy. But the ones that stuck with us weren’t the ones that tried to be perfect. They were the ones where the couple owned their story, didn’t worry about every little detail matching, and embraced the chaos of it all. They brought in pieces of their journey—how they met, new traditions they’d built, places they’ve visited, moments that were unapologetically theirs. That’s exactly what we wanted. We didn’t care if everything flowed perfectly; we wanted it to feel like us—raw, unfiltered, and real. We wove in personal touches that made the weekend feel like a reflection of our love, and of course, we made sure to give a nod to the friends and family who’ve been part of the ride. No fluff, just us and the people who matter.

(From Planner) Where European garden party elegance meets modern romance for a wedding day in the hills of Boulder at Greystone Castle. Designed and produced by Nicole Silver Events, who helped bring the couple’s elevated vision to life, this celebration seamlessly blended refined details with high-energy fun. Custom-printed linens, lush garden florals, and dazzling disco balls set the scene for an unforgettable day. Captured through the lens of Meredith Diamond Photography, every moment—from intimate exchanges to lively dance floor revelry—was documented with a timeless, editorial touch.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

(Answered by Groom) Our proposal story started many years ago on a weekend trip to Columbia, South Carolina, in college for the Carolina Cup horse race before we started dating. In a grand romantic gesture at 2 AM, I proposed to Alison on the fountain in Five Points. Someone snapped a photo of it and she posted it to Instagram as a joke, and all of a sudden, friends and family from her hometown started following me on Instagram and congratulating us. Fast forward to 2023, after over 7 years together spent exploring national parks, new cities, and mostly weekend trips seeing friends and family, we made a New Year’s resolution to travel abroad more. We had also started looking at rings together because I knew I wanted to get something Al was going to love wearing every single day. After a couple of trips with no announcements to share, I knew Alison was getting antsy. We finally got to our trip to Costa Rica, where I was taking a few days off before starting a new job, and our last trip before getting a puppy. A couple of days in, she asked me for the code to the lockbox “to check on our passports”. I called her bluff and gave her the code, knowing the ring was tucked in the back of the lockbox. She never looked. The next evening, we had a beautiful dinner in the jungle planned, and the sunset was starting to turn pink and orange over the waves in the ocean below. Before setting off for dinner, I suggested we take some photos and set up my phone to record a video instead of taking a photo. In the smoothest way possible, I got her to turn around to look at some monkeys in the trees, and when she turned back, I was on one knee, ready to profess my love once again, for real this time. What made it special was that there were no expectations – I had been holding onto the ring for a while, and I didn’t have a specific plan set. We were just having the time of our lives together, learning how to surf, spending quality time experiencing a new culture, and truly living in the moment with appreciation and love. Those feelings overwhelmed me to the point where I couldn’t go another day without knowing that I was going to spend the rest of my life with her.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

(Answered by Bride) When I first set out on the hunt for my wedding dress, I had no clue what I was looking for. I didn’t even know the difference between a trumpet, a mermaid, and an A-line—I know that sounds crazy, but in all honesty, it felt like a foreign language. Add to that the fact that I tend to overthink every decision (just ask my mom about my shopping for a homecoming dress when I was younger), and you can imagine the pressure of finding the dress. But somehow, in the middle of all that uncertainty, I found the one. It was Mark Ingram’s ‘MOMA’ gown at Ultimate Bride in Chicago, with my amazing best girlfriend, Nicole, helping me every step of the way. At this point, I had tried on what felt like a million dresses, so I’d gotten pretty good at knowing almost instantly when something wasn’t it. But when I slipped into this gown, everything changed. The original had thin straps, but the moment I put it on, I instinctively folded them down, making it strapless, and I just knew. It was everything I had been searching for—a unique yet timeless cut, with a stunning seamless bodice, architectural structure, and buttons that ran down the train. It was a dress that would stand the test of time, one I could dance the night away in, and that I hoped would knock Tommy’s socks off. The moment Nicole called my mom and she saw me on FaceTime, I knew there was no turning back. There were so many tears, and of course, plenty of laughs at how emotional we all were. But that moment, that rush of emotion—it’s one I’ll carry with me forever, crystal clear, as vivid as the day I found it.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

(Answered by Bride) I wanted my bridesmaids to feel not only beautiful but comfortable and confident, able to express their unique style while standing by my side on one of the most important days of my life. From the very beginning, I was drawn to the idea of letting them choose their dresses, embracing that ‘pick-your-own’ approach that’s so beautifully personal. It felt like the perfect way to honor each of them. So, I asked my girls to choose from shades of blue and green, depending on where they stood in the lineup. My sister, Casey, who was also my Maid of Honor, wore a stunning dress that blended both colors in a delicate floral pattern. The result was beautiful—each dress felt like a reflection of their spirit, yet together, they harmonized in a very breathtaking way.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”](Answered by Groom) I had the easy job of getting a black tuxedo. Sean at SuitSupply Denver made sure it was the best fitting tuxedo I had ever put on, with a little room to accommodate all my complex dance maneuvers. We added some small details like our wedding date stitched into the collar, a cool navy liner to give it a little character, and I went with Del Toro velvet slippers to complete the look. I felt comfortable and stylish, complementing the confidence and excitement I went into our day with.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

(Answered by Groom) Food is our love language. We love hosting dinner parties, cooking for friends and family, and sharing experiences over great meals. We wanted to bring that to our wedding by curating a menu that highlighted some of our favorite cuisines. The team at Catering By Design helped us achieve exactly that, pulling inspiration from Japanese, Southern, and local Colorado flavors that were all delicious. The ahi poke wonton and the hatch green chile chicken were our favorites. Crystal and her team at Cocktail Caravan made the drink selection easy – the hardest part was picking our favorites of their fresh-pressed mixers and signature cocktail combinations. We wanted fresh, easy-drinking signature cocktails that also had a little of our personalities in them. Mine was “The Fieri”, a nod to my annual Halloween costume and aspirations as an amateur chef. It’s a riff on a spicy margarita with fresh grapefruit, serrano, and lime. Alison’s was “The Big Al”, an ode to her longtime nickname and a drink that spoke to her personality – warm and refreshing, with apple, lemon, and ginger mixed with bourbon. You can find them slinging samples at the Boulder Farmers Market in the summer! A surprise we kept to ourselves was our dance floor drinks. At our favorite Irish pub in college, everyone rallied around the bright green Irish Trash Cans they served. Looking back, it was a really awful concoction, but a lot of incredible memories and friendships were formed over it. Crystal helped us create a fresh take that tastes good, and still had that signature hue of radioactive material (you’ll have to ask her how she managed that with only fresh ingredients). We had them delivered to the dance floor later in the night along with espresso martini shooters, French fries, and chocolate chip cookies. This was a really fun way to keep the energy up and pay homage to the early times in our relationship.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

(Answered by Bride) Our flowers were one of the biggest surprises of the day—honestly, it was hard to picture how it would all come together after so much planning. We knew we wanted something unique, unstructured, and unforgettable. After some thought, we decided to incorporate moss to create a ‘wild meadow’ vibe, paired with an eclectic mix of flowers in a variety of colors. We fully embraced the Colorado wildflower aesthetic, and it turned out even more stunning than we could have imagined. Annie and her amazing team at Simply Petals poured so much care into making sure everything came together beautifully, and the result was breathtaking. The florals brought such a vibrant, natural energy to the day, perfectly capturing the spirit of our celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

(Answered by Bride) Our cake was a three-tiered masterpiece, and because we couldn’t resist, we went for three flavors: Salted Caramel Pistachio, Funfetti (because why not?), and the true star of the show—Lemon Raspberry Swirl. Every bite was delicious, and we were lucky enough to have it all come together thanks to the incredible Ashley Buerger at Afternoon Delight Bakery, located right here in Colorado.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

(Answered by Groom) Going into our wedding planning, we knew we wanted a circle ceremony. It made everything feel more intimate, and everywhere we looked, we saw someone so special to us. Plus, it gave everyone their unique perspective of the ceremony, making it feel like we were all part of something so much bigger than just us. Alison’s mom walked her down the aisle, which was the easiest decision for her throughout all of the planning. Her mom is her north star, her best friend, and the reason she is who she is today—her presence was beyond meaningful in that moment. Our best friend, Dan, officiated our wedding. We gave him very little direction, trusting him to find the right words to speak about our love, and he nailed it. We couldn’t have asked for a better performance from him, and his words will always hold a special place in our hearts. We also wrote our vows separately. We wanted to speak directly to each other and our loved ones about what this day and this commitment meant to us. It was one of the scariest parts of the day, and also one of the most rewarding. Sharing those personal moments in front of our closest friends and family reminded us that while all the little details are important, it’s the love we shared that truly matters.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

(Answered by Groom) There was nothing more special than sharing the day with our family and closest friends. Because we had a connection with everyone there, we wrote custom fortune cookies for each guest. One day we went to happy hour and wrote them all together – the goal was to be fun, witty, sentimental, or whatever feeling came up when we got to that guest. The outcome was everyone getting to share their fortunes at their tables, and hopefully felt a little extra special about getting a personalized note.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Another fun fact about our wedding is that we now share an anniversary with my parents. It was their 38th anniversary on our wedding day, and we got to honor them with their surprise dance to their first dance song – Danny’s Song. It was incredible seeing them so happy to get called up and take center stage, and it’s a bond we’ll always share with them.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

We would be remiss if we didn’t talk about the 21st Night of September! The disco vibes were awesome, and we got to hear that song played at every wedding leading up to ours, which just continued to build the excitement for us.

Blake and I had been dating for 3.5 years before the proposal. We were on a trip together to London and Scotland. On the last night of our journey, Blake had booked us a “dinner cruise” that ended up being a private boat for our engagement. He proposed on the River Thames, accompanied by fireworks, after gaining permission from parliament. He had our favorite song playing in the background and had hired paid actors to ‘play’ other guests on the boat until the big moment. After I had said yes, we had the boat to ourselves as we cruised down the river and had our favorite meal and favorite bottle of wine.

Guests then chose from three entrée options: grilled filet mignon with truffle whipped potatoes, wild mushroom vol-au-vent, petite carrots, asparagus, and red wine jus; spinach and ricotta stuffed chicken breast with garlic whipped potatoes, petite carrots, asparagus, roasted tomatoes, and herb beurre blanc; or a vegetarian lasagna roulade featuring zucchini, squash, roasted pepper, asparagus, béchamel, and spiced tomato. Late-night bite offerings were served from 11 pm to 1 am in the ballroom and included savory small bites such as mini all-beef hot dogs, truffle fries, shaved parmesan fries, a pizza display, and garlic knots. Their wedding day boasted natural greens, white, orange, and blush tones to complement the natural beauty of their venue. The overall vision of the day was traditionally classic with a blend of garden vibes from the venue and a nod to fall. Starting with the escort wall, which became a statement piece of the cocktail hour. Ann and John built the wall and meticulously researched each element of the cards, tassels, and wax seals. Etc. The telephone guest book, signage, menu cards, invitations, vow books, as well as memorial chairs for each of their mother, who both sadly passed away months before the wedding, were all carefully thought through. They ensured adequate seating was available for their extended cocktail hour, adding pillows and blankets to make sure everyone was comfortable. The guitarist who sang throughout the cocktail hour, prosecco popsicles, creatively presented and delicious food, as well as a guest appearance by the couple’s dogs, one of whom jumped in the fountain, made it hard for guests to leave cocktail hour.

Ann and John met on Bumble and instantly connected over their shared love of travel, food, and wine. Their first date was incredible, and they did not want the evening to end. Ann, having established a successful career, was looking for the right person to share her life with. John was divorced with two adult daughters and was seeking a companion who matched his drive and passion for nature, music, and food. John had initially planned to propose on a trip to Spain in May of 2020COVIDid interrupted those plans, and instead they hunkered down together at John’s house with their dogs. In July of 2021, they were able to get away to Emerald Isle, NC, where John got down on one knee and asked Ann to marry him.

Their signature cocktails were named after their two dogs. Breton’s bubbles, after their lab, was prosecco over a petite popsicle with pineapple mint or blackberry sage. Murphy’s mule, for their other dog Murphy, was bourbon with ginger beer, lime juice, and bitters.

Flowers highlighted the designs of all the spaces. The loose wildflower feeling of the flowers amplified the natural garden theme. The wide range of flowers used, mixed with striated greens, also added to the nature theme. Additionally, they wanted to elevate the rustic barn with white draping, beautiful textured linen, and lots of lovely tabletop elements.

How to Smoothly Change Beauty Looks Between Ceremony and Reception – Tips From the Experts!

Is your ceremony style more romantic and dreamy while your reception style leans more towards let’s get down on the dance floor? Then today’s editorial is right up your alley! The experts at Page BeautySouthern House Events and Timeless Event Planning are sharing their tips on how to smoothly change bridal looks between ceremony reception – both from a beauty perspective and a planning perspective… ’cause we all know the logistics are just as important as all the pretty details. Need some style inspo? The full gallery from Anya Kernes Photography has got you covered!

Hairstyling

“If you prefer to wear your hair up for the ceremony, ask your hairstylist to add some waves before pinning, and use minimal pins to secure the updo. Use a soft-hold, flexible hairspray to allow the hair to loosen after wearing it up. Strong-hold hairsprays won’t allow the hair to loosen and the hair will look stiff after an updo. When taking the hair down, pull the pins, flip your head upside down, and gently shake the hair from the roots. You won’t need to add any product as the hair has already been treated, and you don’t want to weigh the hair down with additional product. If you have a curling iron available, take the bottom sections of your hair and reboot the waves. Some brides prefer to wear their hair up at the reception so she can dance the night away and not overheat. For a do-it-yourself easy updo after ceremony, take the front section of each side of your hair, and set aside. Pull the remaining hair into a low pony, but don’t pull the hair all the way through, thus creating a bun. Take the front hair from each side and wrap each section around the hair tie and pin to secure. Give your hair a final spray of strong hold hairspray and get on the dance floor.”

– Stefanie Cuesta, Page Beauty Hairstylist

Makeup

“An easy quick change with your makeup is bumping up the eyes with a cream eyeshadow stick that you can manipulate with your fingers. If you’ve started with a soft eye makeup, you can add a rich shade of brown or smoke around the lash line to add drama. Smudge with your fingertip for a soft smoky effect. Another option is to add a fun sparkle on the ball of the eyes and inner corners. If lip colors are your jam, add a rich matte red or a bold shot of pink for the reception and keep the eye makeup soft for balance. Don’t forget to check your radiant skin! Add a drop of cream or liquid highlight to the tops of cheeks to add more radiance.”

– Tanya Bures, Page Beauty Owner | Lead Makeup Artist

Timing and Logistics

Typically the time immediately following your ceremony is focused on taking photos with family, friends and your bridal party, and doesn’t always leave much time to facilitate a second look before being announced into your reception. That’s why I recommend budgeting and planning time for your second look well before the day-of. — This should definitely not be something you try to “squeeze in” in-between photos and family hugs. Your best resource to help with this timing expectation would definitely be your Beauty professionals. You can take advantage of their knowledge during your beauty trial by asking for their advice on how much time should be budgeted for your second look…. Will 10 minutes be enough or do you need to budget more like 20 – 30 minutes? Next you’ll want communicate this timing expectation to your Planner or Day-of team, so they can find the perfect moment for your to step away without feeling rushed or stressed out. I usually recommend extending your cocktail hour, if possible, and budgeting a minimum of 20 minutes so you can combine your beauty change with the bustling of your dress and removal of your veil. Planning for this second look from the very beginning not only helps you to not be rushed on the day-of, but it also gives you a few quiet moments to freshen up, use the ladies room and prepare yourself for dancing the night away! “

— Kayla Gantzer, Southern House Events Owner

Having two wedding looks is always better than one! You get to express two personalities and show off how fabulous you look in both. During the ceremony, many of my brides will use lighter tones of makeup and wear their hair down. Think of this as the most romantic, whimsical part of your wedding. The reception is the part of your wedding where you then get to party and celebrate your love for one another. The moment dancing starts, many of my clients will want to put their hair up and let loose with their friends to celebrate. This also gives you time to sneak away, take a breather and freshen up. No one wants smudged eyeliner, so it’s important to add this into your timeline. If you’re feeling a little daring, throw on a bold lip to really make the change stand out. My last reason is that you will have two sets of photos with different looks. If you really want to go all-out, pick out a reception dress and completely change the feel. You will love having two galleries and various photos to hang on your living room wall.”

A Vibrant Spring Wedding in San Diego with Chinoiserie Charm and Outdoor Elegance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blue, Peach, Orange, and Pink[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Spring in San Diego was my main inspiration, so I knew I wanted the setting to be bright and outdoors. Honoring my heritage was also important to me, which is why I chose blue chinoiserie vases as the foundation of my design. From there, I selected colors that would complement them while maintaining a vibrant, spring-like feel. With our venue set outdoors in San Diego, we aimed for a balance of casual elegance, creating a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere that highlighted the natural surroundings.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Jared and I started dating just before the pandemic in 2019. Amid COVID, we decided to take our first mini trip together—a staycation at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. We had the best time, and I knew I wanted to go back someday. For my birthday in 2023, he planned a surprise staycation there, and I thought we were simply celebrating. But during a beautiful beach walk, just the two of us, he completely surprised me— told me he had one more birthday gift for me and asked me to be his wife with the perfect, antique, round ring.

Growing up, my family was deeply rooted in the restaurant and wedding industries, and my mom is the best chef I know. While having her cater wasn’t an option, Jared and I share a love for Asian cuisine, so we knew we wanted a fusion menu for our wedding. Coast Catering did an incredible job bringing our vision to life! We served short ribs, miso fish, noodles, and fried rice, along with appetizers like tuna tartare tacos and mini hamburgers—it was absolutely perfectFor drinks, we brought in our bar and worked with Common Sense Events, whose bartenders were fantastic. We wanted the drinks to keep flowing, and since we were at a vineyard, the wine was already set! During happy hour, we added a fun touch with sake juice boxes and rosé slushies. For our signature cocktails, we dedicated a gin and tonic to Jared’s mom and recreated a special drink we used to make together during the height of COVID. It was such a memorable way to tie in personal touches to our celebration!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

When it came to florals and décor, there was only one vendor I trusted—Three Petals. My family has worked closely with them in Orange County, and I was thrilled that they came down for my wedding. From the Chuppah to the seating display board to the stunning centerpieces, they completely brought my vision to life. For rentals, Crown Rentals handled everything else, including the gorgeous tablecloths, elegant chairs, and the dance floor. Every detail came together beautifully, making the space feel magical.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

My family has owned a French bakery my entire life, so who better to create the wedding cake of my dreams? Their bakery, Final Touch, is located in Orange County, and it was so special to have them be part of our big day. We also made sure to include a personal touch—our little long-haired dachshund, Cannoli, who we’re obsessed with, had her special feature on the cake!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Our ceremony was the perfect blend of Jared’s Jewish heritage and my Vietnamese culture. One of our best friends married us and wrote the most beautiful ceremony that highlighted our relationship, love for food, and the importance of family and community. Jared walked down the aisle to Harvest Moon—his mom’s favorite Neil Young song—while I walked to Florence and the Machine’s version of Stand by Me, a cherished favorite in my household growing up. We were married under a Chuppah made from Jared’s grandmother’s wedding dress, a beautiful family tradition that every married couple in his family has shared. To honor my culture and elders, we incorporated a shortened tea ceremony in the middle of our vows. We exchanged our heartfelt vows—it was truly perfect. The moment we were announced as husband and wife, Jared shattered the glass, and we kicked off the celebration by walking back down the aisle to Post Malone’s Celebration—setting the tone for an unforgettable night! Father-daughter dance – My Girl by The Temptations Brother sister dance – Heart of Life by John Mayer. We kicked off the dance floor with the Hora, setting the energy high from the start. Then, we went straight into Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks—a song that holds a special place in my heart. When my family immigrated to America, Kentucky was the first state they called home, and I still have family there. This song has been played at every family wedding and event since, making it one of my favorite traditions. Getting to share that moment with everyone on the dance floor was truly unforgettable!

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We love to travel, and I love to paint, so for our seating chart, I painted guests a postcard of somewhere special we have traveled to and wrote a note on the back thanking them for being there on our special day and in our lives. It was a labor of love and such a hit!

The ceremony was filled with lush, sherbert-toned roses, dahlias, zinnias, and ranunculus. Woven baskets filled with blooming rose bushes lined the aisle, accompanied by parasols to keep guests comfortable during the Ceremony. Julie King created their beautiful floral-filled hand-painted Save the Date and Invitation Suite featuring the garden motif and a little bunny (often seen on property at SYR) that made an appearance again at cocktail hour as the escort cards. Casa de Perrin’s beautiful ceramic plates were the perfect complement for reception tables filled with organically gathered arrangements, blush taper candlesticks, and rattan napkin rings. Guests sat down to personalized, illustrated menu booklets and dined on locally-sourced, seasonal dishes prepared by San Ysidro Ranch.

A Nostalgic Wedding Full of Classic Elegance and Vintage Charm at The Ashton Depot

Sarah envisioned a classic wedding with timeless elements and a nostalgic vintage charm! She was drawn toward a traditional vibe, with attention to the past’s elegant details. Max proposed to Sarah at Holy Hill Basilica in Wisconsin before Christmas Eve Mass. Sarah is one to spoil surprises, so naturally, she caught on to Max’s original proposal plan. He then decided to make a quick decision to bump it up about 5 months to make sure she would be truly surprised — and surprised she was! It made for the most special Christmas season ever.

The Bride wore the Yours Forever gown with the matching bolero by Sareh Nouri. When Sarah went dress shopping at Stanley Korshak, Sareh Nouri was there for her trunk show, so she got to work with her directly, which was incredibly special. She felt like she was living out the iconic bridal scene from The Parent Trap. She knew she wanted something more traditional and modest, and after going back and forth on a few dresses, Nouri convinced her that the ball gown paired with the long-sleeved, high neck bolero with leaf detailing was the way to go for their late fall Cathedral wedding — And she was right! Sarah can’t imagine having worn any other dress.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bride carefully selected blue one-shoulder dresses for her bridesmaids, choosing a design that was both elegant and timeless. The dresses were a soft, sophisticated shade of blue, perfectly complementing the overall color palette of the wedding. [/field]

It all made for a wonderful guest experience — we are still receiving compliments about that!”

Sarah knew she didn’t want pops of color, so they stuck with white florals with little to no greenery. Once they landed on colors, with the help of J Designs, visions of a cascading white orchid bouquet were brought to life!

The couple delighted their guests with two beautiful cakes, both expertly crafted by Batter and Mac! The first was a classic four-tiered white cake adorned with a vintage cake topper. The second, a fun groom’s cake – featuring a Texas A&M logo on the outside where he is in Law school and also the bride’s college, but as a clever surprise, the inside was filled with Marquette University colors in honor of the groom’s alma mater.

His dad also sang to his mom at their wedding — like father, like son!”

Max’s sisters DROVE down the cake and other desserts to Fort Worth, Texas, all the way from Wisconsin!

A Starry-Eyed Estate Wedding Built from the Ground Up with Heart and Intention

[section title=”The Planning”]

White, Cream, blush, dusty rose and greens

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted a big wedding surrounded by family and friends, celebrating the love I found with my person. I envisioned incredible food, signature drinks, and an evening under the stars filled with dreamy details like sparklers, twinkling lights, live music, and lots of joy and laughter. I always dreamed of an outdoor wedding and imagined a clear-top tent so we could see the stars. When we couldn’t find exactly what we were envisioning in Toronto and the GTA, we decided to build our wedding from the ground up and host it at a private estate in Schomberg, ON. This might seem daunting, but after completing a major renovation on our 1867 house, we had faith in ourselves. As a school teacher and David in the road construction industry, we knew we were embarking on an exciting and unique adventure by creating our venue. From the beginning, we wanted our personalities and our relationship to shine through every aspect of the wedding. We are a couple who thrives on experiences, and we wanted to create a magical experience for our loved ones. From our dating days to our proposal, wedding planning, building our venue, and our bachelorette and bachelor parties in Tulum and Scotland, every moment has been filled with intimate experiences, sentimental touches, and, of course, some chaos. Although our guest count of 240 might seem large, our family and friends know each other well from our many gatherings, so the atmosphere felt intimate, warm, and comfortable. We wanted our wedding to be about celebrating and cherishing the moment, creating lifelong memories.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

On August 26, 2017, my brother introduced me to a very special man at our favorite place, the cottage on Georgian Bay. Four years later, on August 26, 2021, I went on a date with my boyfriend that turned into the dreamiest, most magical evening. He got down on one knee on Georgian Bay and asked me to be his wife. Our wedding day, August 26, 2023, was the day our wildest dreams came true. It was a true fairytale and the most beautiful day of our lives.

My dress was from Superior Bridal. Designer: Eva Lendel Name of dress: Jess I always envisioned what our wedding day would be like, but never had a vision for my dress. In April 2021, before I was even engaged, Instagram served me this dress, and I instantly fell in love. I saved it to my phone, and little did I know, just a few months later, I would be engaged. The wedding dress shopping journey began in February 2022, and I had so much fun with my family and friends going dress shopping. The try-ons, the brunches, the champagne that followed, it was such a memorable process. I found some close contenders, but knew I needed to try on THE dress before making any decisions. After calling around, I found out Superior Bridal had this dress for me to try on. It was an instant “OMG”. I went back a second time to show my mom, mother-in-law-to-be, my aunt, sister in laws, cousin, and best friend. It was so special. A few weeks later, on May 5th, I took my mom and dad back with me to officially say “YES to the dres, and we FaceTimed my brother. This dress was the dress of my dreams, and it was true love at first sight!

Nadia & Co. created the wedding cake. The cake was a celebration of texture and soft, romantic hues. What made the day even more special was that the weather was incredible until 2:00 p.m. Our ceremony was scheduled for 4:00 p.m., but the rain refused to stop. David and I kept saying, “10 more minutes,” hoping for a break. Although we had a rain plan, we didn’t want to use it. Amidst the growing pressure to make a decision, I’ll never forget one of David’s groomsmen saying, “You’ve never been one for logic; what does your gut say?” That moment will always stay with me. My gut said, “10 more minutes,” and David believed the rain would stop. We trusted our instincts, and at 5:00 p.m., we made the call to proceed with the ceremony outside. The guests waited in a covered barn with live music, and we announced that if the rain intensified, they could move to the reception area under the tent, but we would continue outside. Our angels were with us that day because the sun broke through as we exchanged our vows, creating a moment that felt truly otherworldly. It was a testament to our belief in ourselves and our dreams for the day. Planning this wedding tested us in ways we could never have anticipated, but it has been one of our favorite projects to bring to life. We are so glad we didn’t give up. It truly was a journey, and a fun one at that. We could not be more grateful to our incredible team of vendors and our amazing planner, Michelle, who worked tirelessly to make our dream a reality. Details that made our day beautiful “us” included our signature drinks inspired by our favourite place, our honeymoon destination, and the small hamlet we live in: The Georgian Bay, The Bora Bora and The Laskay. For our guest book, we had guests sign the pages of our favorite coffee table book, Live Beautiful, and we paid tribute to our parents and grandparents’ love stories with a display called The Love That Came Before Us, showcasing their wedding day photos. It was the best day of our lives.

A Romantic Riverside Wedding with Preppy Charm and Summer Hues

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Pink, green, and cream were grounding colors for this romantic June celebration at home. The backdrop of the bride’s family estate provided a natural scenery that truly impressed guests upon arrival.

The weather was a perfect 77 degrees, with a gentle summer breeze. The ceremony was held at a quintessential Episcopal church, its stained glass windows bathing the 180 guests in a kaleidoscope of colors. The celebration continued with dinner and dancing at her parents’ stunning waterfront home. Inspired by the soft, dreamy tones of summer—and the bride’s fondness for pink—the color palette showcased delightful shades of pink, neutral tones, and vibrant greens. A custom floral chandelier was the main centerpiece of the tent, complemented by basket lights and a personalized monogram to create a custom dance floor. Coastal yet preppy details ( rattan textiles and linens in shades of cream and pink ) were elevated by the floral design – hanging vines and pink blossoms bloomed with elegance and freshness. The open sailcloth tent provided relief as the sun set on the Tred Avon River. As it became dark, the pool was illuminated, and dancing began.

Jon proposed at a picnic lunch in the Loire Valley during a romantic trip to Paris. The couple chose June 8th to wed in Oxford, MD, where the bride’s parents had settled in 2020. Kat had always envisioned her wedding day to be full of warmth, family, and friends. When the couple’s parents suggested a wedding for 180 on the lawn, it was all hands on deck.

Amidst this beauty, there was a poignant reminder of loved ones lost; a rainbow appeared in the clear sky during the reception, a testament to the bride’s brother, whose spirit graced this unforgettable day. Flashback to a humid Saturday afternoon in NYC, September 2020. Jonathan Blake found himself at Greenwich Street Tavern in Tribeca surrounded by friends. Coastal Charm and Gilded Age Glamour at a Seaside Newport Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Blue, light blue, sage, and white color scheme to keep everything organic and reminiscent of the sea. Our vision for the day epitomized the classic New England summer by the beach. The Chanler is a stunning Gilded Age mansion now transformed into a boutique hotel set atop the cliffs of Newport with the ocean as the backdrop. We wanted guests to feel the luxury that the Chanler exudes without feeling overly stuffy or formal. Attire was summer formal rather than black tie to encourage pops of color, summer suits, and beachy vibes. We went with an ocean blue, light blue, sage, and white color scheme to keep everything organic and reminiscent of the sea. Oysters are a favorite summertime food that the couple loves to enjoy together, and since the wedding took place on the beach in Newport, it felt like the perfect design theme to highlight throughout the wedding. The escort card wall had escort cards cut out in the shape of oyster shells, with the top of the wall saying “Have a shell of a time!” and an oyster-printed border that matched the invitation suite. Erica at Infinite Events did an incredible job of making our vision come to life and connecting us with the best vendors in the area. And Stoneblossom topped it all off with stunning floral arrangements!

Joey and Jamie met in college right before he was set to graduate. They immediately hit it off, but given that I still had another year to finish at school and he was leaving to play professional basketball in Israel, they didn’t quite know where the relationship would go. Luckily, he returned to the US by the time Jamie was graduating, and we both started working in NYC. The connection just grew from there, but they both wanted to pursue new careers. Jamie set off for medical school in NH while Joey started a coaching career in basketball in TX. They did long-distance work over the next few years and eventually moved in together in Boston. Almost 10 years after their first meeting in college, Joey took Jamie on a walk around their favorite reservoir as a way to decompress after she took a 4-hour exam for her medical boards earlier that day. In the middle of the path, he pulled her aside, dropped down on one knee, and popped the question.

During a long and exhausting day of shopping at bridal boutiques all over NYC, Jamie, her mom, and her soon-to-be mother-in-law had their last appointment at Monique Lhuillier. Honestly, by that point, the bride was so exhausted from trying on dresses for the past 7 hours, she almost canceled. But Jamie’s mom always dreamed of her getting married in a Monique Lhuillier gown, so she agreed to stick it out for one last appointment. She was shocked to find the very last dress of the day was the one she’d end up choosing! It was the perfect balance of romance with a sexy edge. The lace was delicate without being overly floral. The dress was strapless, which Jamie was adamant that she didn’t want, but she loved every aspect of the dress so much that she ended up customizing it to lower the back and add matching straps made with the lace overlay.

Luckily, the food and drinks were the easiest options to choose! The Chanler is known for having excellent food, and everything is made in-house, which means we didn’t have to deal with an outside catering service. We wanted to highlight the local seafood fare Newport is known for, so a raw bar during cocktail hour was a must. During the dinner service, we added a mid-course lobster campanelle pasta that quickly became every guest’s favorite item on the menu. Jamie’s amazing husband let her choose BOTH signature cocktails, so she went with a spicy margarita and grapefruit Aperol spritz, which are her favorite summer cocktails. And to finish the night, the guests indulged in mini cheeseburgers and loaded tater tots as a late-night snack.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]For the flowers and decor, we aimed to bring the essence of New England’s summer by the sea into every detail of the wedding. Stoneblossom truly brought our vision to life with lush, organic floral arrangements that complemented the natural beauty of the venue. Soft ocean blues, light blues, sage greens, and whites were woven throughout the flowers and decor, evoking the colors of the sea and sky. Elegant yet relaxed, the florals featured a mix of delicate blooms, such as ranunculus, hydrangeas, sweetpeas, and Queen Anne’s lace, creating a romantic and timeless atmosphere. The arrangements were thoughtfully placed throughout the venue—on tables, at the altar, and even as part of the oyster-inspired escort card display. Erica from Infinite Events worked seamlessly with the vendors, ensuring the decor flowed effortlessly and had the perfect balance of sophistication and coastal charm. From the oyster-themed elements to the stunning floral accents, every detail felt both luxurious and warm, allowing guests to feel as though they were experiencing the beauty of Newport in the most personal and inviting way.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Dessert was by far the most important aspect of the menu for the couple. For the cake, the couple worked with Confectionary Designs on a 3-tier cake. Mark, one of the owners, used the lace on the bride’s dress and replicated that on each tier. Then made stunning sugar flowers to match the floral arrangements in the bride’s bouquet and on the table arrangements. The couple chose two different cake flavors – chocolate cake with double trouble filling on one layer and almond crunch with fresh strawberries on the other layer, and a vanilla pound cake with elderflower lemon curd and fresh blueberries in each layer (to die for!). To complete the dessert display, the couple had Confectionary Designs make homemade Italian cookies (to celebrate the bride’s heritage) and also included chocolate chips, which were her dad’s favorite. Mini panna cotta, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse cups completed the display.

Unfortunately, Jamie’s father passed away the month before the wedding. So Jamie and her mom made sure it felt like he was present throughout the day. The ceremony program had a special dedication, as did the welcome note guests found attached to their welcome gift. They also made sure to leave him a seat with a beautiful floral arrangement next to Jamie’s mom during the ceremony.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Jamie and her mom spent so much time working with Wouldn’t It Be Lovely on the design of the invitation suite. Her mom had the idea of commissioning a watercolor of the Chanler with the backdrop of the ocean and gorgeous surrounding gardens. That watercolor was used on the save-the-dates, the inner envelope of the invitation suite, and the welcome note! It came out so stunning.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Jamie’s mom and Erica had the brilliant idea of an S-shaped aisle to walk down during the ceremony. The aisle started from a secret garden pathway that the bride emerged from was lined with floral arrangements highlighting the blue, white, and sage color scheme. The area footage of the bride and her mother walking down it is amazing!

Cinematic Glamour and Seaside Romance in Mykonos at Royal Myconian

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The Aesthetic: A Timeless Palette with a Touch of Glamour. Every design choice was intentional, sophisticated, and effortlessly chic. The couple embraced a color palette of crisp white, soft ivory, and champagne gold, mirroring Mykonos’ iconic landscape. Subtle touches of pastel blush and greenery wove throughout the florals, creating a delicate contrast against the stark Cycladic architecture. The result? A breathtakingly refined yet modern ambiance that allowed the natural beauty of Mykonos to shine.

By George Liopetas. Some weddings are beautiful. Others are unforgettable. But every once in a while, you witness a wedding that is pure magic—a celebration so perfectly curated that it feels like stepping into a dream. Vanessa and Alexander’s wedding in Mykonos was exactly that: an epic love story set against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea, infused with luxury, romance, and high-energy revelry. The Vision: A High-Impact Experience in the Heart of Mykonos When Vanessa and Alexander set out to plan their wedding, they had one goal in mind: to create the most unforgettable trip of their lives, for themselves and every single guest. This wasn’t just about a beautiful ceremony or a well-planned reception. This was about crafting an immersive experience that blended chic elegance, vibrant energy, and a true Mykonian essence. To bring this ambitious vision to life, they turned to none other than Kostas Tsoukalas, the mastermind behind NAIDO Weddings. Known for his ability to transform dreams into reality, Kostas curated a wedding that felt like a cinematic masterpiece e seamlessly transitioning from an intimate seaside ceremony to a full-throttle, high-end party that could rival any A-list event.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Our groom, Alexander, shared about how he and Vanessa met and how he proposed: ‘Ironically, I was on a first date when I met Vanessa. After my date and I finished dinner, we met some of our mutual friends at a NYC lounge. Vanessa was present amongst the group of friends we had, and as a kind gesture, I introduced myself to be respectful. We had a brief conversation, and coincidentally, the following week she was also present at another social gathering I attended. We spoke again, but this time our conversation was a little more in-depth. She had shared that she was a Scientist, and I was fascinated because I had never met a Scientist before, let alone one who was beautiful. After that evening, we spoke every day until we went out on our first date, and the rest was history. To this day, that “date” ended up being the best date of my life. ‘ The proposal story, on the words of Alexander: ‘We were vacationing in Malibu, California, and I had told Vanessa I bought us tickets from a tour company for a sunset cruise around the Marina. Little did she know, I secretly rented a 150-foot private yacht for just the two of us, staffed with our waitress, bartender, captain, food, and drinks. I had been speaking with the captain of the yacht for several weeks before the proposal to ensure we would come up with a devious plan so Vanessa wouldn’t be aware of what was going on. When we arrived at the dock, I had plotted with the captain to inform us that the other 4 couples who also purchased tickets were a group of close friends, but unfortunately, all had to cancel due to one of the couples coming down with an unexpected illness. Therefore, the captain proceeded to share that due to these circumstances, Vanessa and I now had the yacht to ourselves. Vanessa was oblivious to what was going on and thought we got extremely lucky with the cancellation of the other guests. Two hours into the cruise, the captain docked in front of the most beautiful Californian sunset, and that was my cue. I got down on one knee on the helicopter pad and proposed. ‘

For the groom, the approach was equally intentional. Alexander, the groom, shared: In Greece, the food is always savory, poultry and fish are constantly fresh, and every single bite consistently seasoned to perfection. Instead of traditional wedding-style dinner selections, which generally include an appetizer, a choice of main course, and a dessert, we wanted our guests to enjoy all of the wonderful tastes and flavors that Greece has to offer. We selected 6 different appetizers, entrees, and 3 sides, which were all served family style so our guests could have an opportunity to taste a little bit of everything that the Greek cuisine encompasses. We also paired all of our food selections with several local Greek wines, which Vanessa and I carefully selected with the Royal Myconians’ Food and Beverage manager.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Florals & Décor, as shared by Vanessa and Alexander: With Mykonos offering breathtaking natural scenery, we wanted our floral design to enhance—not overpower—the landscape. Fiorentino Flowers created elegant yet understated arrangements, focusing on lush white roses, orchids, and hydrangeas. At the ceremony, two tall white columns with overflowing amphoras framed the altar, allowing the ocean view to remain the centerpiece. For the reception, we kept the same floral elements but elevated them with tall gold metallic stands, ensuring that guests’ views remained unobstructed while dining. The tables were adorned with soft candlelight and luxurious yet minimalist decor, reinforcing the timeless aesthetic we envisioned.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The Cake: Minimalist Luxury with a Greek Twist. Even the wedding cake reflected the couple’s refined yet contemporary taste. A three-tiered white fondant cake, adorned with delicate gold accents and fresh white orchids, served as both a visual and culinary masterpiece. Inside? A flavor profile inspired by Greece itself—vanilla bean sponge layered with honey and pistachio filling.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The Ceremony: An Emotional Prelude to an Unforgettable Night Set against the panoramic backdrop of the Aegean, the couple’s ceremony was nothing short of cinematic. A saxophonist filled the air with a soul-stirring rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” as Vanessa made her way down the aisle. The florals—elegant yet understated—framed the moment with towering white amphoras spilling over with lush orchids and roses. The Reception: When Dinner Becomes a Dance Party. The reception wasn’t just a meal—it was a multi-sensory experience. Guests were greeted with a cocktail hour soundtracked by 90s and early 2000s R&B hits, setting the perfect tone for what was to come. The tables, adorned with floating candles and gold-accented floral arrangements, created a soft, intimate glow under the Myconian sky. But this wedding didn’t just build up to a party. It became one. A Club-Style Dance Floor Like No Other.r As the night progressed, Sound Mykonos unveiled a custom-built truss system, transforming the dance floor into a full-scale VIP club experience. Think revolving bee-eye lights, high-end speakers, and ten disco balls casting reflections onto a sea of dancers. At the helm? DJ Nick Russo, flown in from NYC, turned the reception into a high-energy music festival, complete with remixed classics and deep house beats.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Luxury Wedding Favors with an Attitude. When it came to wedding favors, the couple opted for something both personal and unforgettable. Guests received white leather luggage tags engraved in gold, reading “Best Fucking Trip Ever.” For those preferring a more subtle touch, an alternate version read “Best Trip Ever.” It was a cheeky yet sophisticated nod to the unforgettable experience they had curated.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The Proposal That Started It All. The magic of this wedding didn’t start in Mykonos. It began in Malibu, aboard a private 150-foot yacht. Unknown to Vanessa, [Groom’s Name] had orchestrated the ultimate surprise: a private sunset cruise with a personal chef, bartender, and captain, who played along with a story that made Vanessa believe they had just “gotten lucky” with the yacht to themselves. It wasn’t until they reached the helicopter pad, bathed in golden-hour light, that he got down on one knee and changed their lives forever. This proposal became the cornerstone of their wedding story—a moment so perfectly planned yet effortlessly organic, mirroring the very essence of their Mykonos celebration.

An Ireland Black-Tie Wedding with Wildflower Whimsy and Romantic Summer Light

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Pastel blue was the primary shade for Rachel and Barry’s wedding. However, the colour palette also included other soft pastel tones, such as delicate shades of pink, peach, and champagne. While pastel blue was the dominant hue, these complementary colours added depth and warmth to the overall aesthetic. The combination worked beautifully against the venue’s light and neutral decor, creating an elegant and romantic ambiance. The pastel tones blended seamlessly with the surroundings, enhancing the soft, dreamy atmosphere of the celebration.

They had a refined black-tie summer wedding that balanced formal elegance with a natural, ethereal charm. To bring the outdoors in, wildflowers were thoughtfully incorporated into both the ceremony and dinner settings, creating an organic and romantic atmosphere. The floral arrangements featured bright, joyful colours that added vibrancy while maintaining a soft, natural aesthetic. The décor was intentionally light and airy, enhancing the dreamy feel of the day. This was further elevated by the long summer daylight and the hazy golden glow that bathed the venue, creating an almost magical ambiance. Rachel’s gown perfectly complemented this vision—vintage-inspired with a delicate, flowing fabric that echoed the effortless beauty of the setting. Every detail worked harmoniously to create a wedding that was both sophisticated and enchanting.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Barry chose the most meaningful place to ask Rachel to marry him – the beach in Crookhaven, West Cork, where their story first began. It was here, on this very stretch of coastline, that they had first met, making it the perfect backdrop for such a significant moment in their journey together. As they walked, reminiscing about the memories they had made in this special place, Barry paused, turned to Rachel, and took her hands in his. With heartfelt words, he told her how much she meant to him, how their story had come full circle, and how he couldn’t imagine his future without her. Then, in that perfect moment, with the sound of the sea as their only witness, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. Rachel, overwhelmed with happiness, said yes without hesitation. It was a simple yet deeply meaningful proposal, rooted in nostalgia, love, and the place where it all began.

Rachel’s wedding gown was a breathtaking, vintage-inspired creation, designed especially for her and meticulously handcrafted by Susanna Greening Designs. Made from the finest high-quality silk, the dress exudes timeless elegance with a luxurious sheen that softly reflects the light, adding to its ethereal charm. The silhouette was both graceful and refined, featuring a beautifully structured, fitted bodice that accentuated Rachel’s figure before flowing effortlessly into a dreamy, full skirt. The skirt cascaded into a delicate train at the back, creating a sense of movement and fluidity with every step she took. One of the most striking elements of the design was the gown’s exquisite sleeves. Long and flowing, they embodied a sense of vintage romance, draping gracefully from the shoulders. As they reached the lower arm and wrist, the sleeves became elegantly fitted, sculpting to Rachel’s arms before being finished with a row of delicate buttons—a subtle but stunning detail that added to the gown’s refined craftsmanship. The overall effect was one of effortless sophistication, perfectly capturing Rachel’s vision of a dress that felt both classic and enchanting.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The bridesmaids’ dresses were a stunning reflection of the wedding’s signature colour, pastel blue, creating a harmonious and elegant bridal party aesthetic. Soft and romantic, this delicate shade perfectly complemented the light and ethereal ambiance of the day, blending seamlessly with the natural decor and sunlit surroundings. What made these dresses truly special was that each one was uniquely designed, ensuring that every bridesmaid had a style that suited her personality and figure while still maintaining a cohesive look. Thoughtfully crafted by Maids to Measure, the dresses celebrated individuality while embracing a shared colour palette, allowing each bridesmaid to feel confident and comfortable.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Barry’s wedding attire was a masterclass in timeless sophistication—a tailored, vintage-inspired double-breasted tuxedo that exuded effortless elegance. Perfectly in keeping with the black-tie dress code, the suit was a refined nod to classic menswear, combining traditional craftsmanship with a touch of old-world charm.

The tuxedo featured a structured double-breasted jacket, enhancing Barry’s silhouette with its sharp, tailored fit. The deep black fabric lent a rich and luxurious feel, making a striking contrast against the soft, pastel tones of the bridal party. Adding to its vintage appeal, the jacket was finished with a sleek satin collar, which subtly reflected the light, drawing attention to its refined detailing. The satin-covered buttons were another exquisite touch, seamlessly blending with the lapel for a polished and cohesive look.

Paired with impeccably tailored trousers and a crisp white dress shirt, Barry’s ensemble embodied classic black-tie sophistication while maintaining a sense of individuality. Every detail, from the precision of the fit to the choice of fabric, contributed to an overall aesthetic that was both effortlessly stylish and deeply personal.[/field]

For our drinks reception, we kept it quite simple, serving simply two options, a nice champagne and pints of Guinness, both went down a treat. We chose a caterer who specialises in sourcing all of their produce locally, a family business called Green Olive Catering. We are really into food, and this was such an important part of the day for us. For our starter, we chose goat’s cheese salad or a choice of Gravadlax, the latter may seem a little left of field, but it went down a treat with our seafood-loving guests! For our main course, we chose Fillet of Irish beef, cavolo nero, pumpkin champ, port Jus, or a choice of Sea bass with wild garlic pesto and local veggies. Dessert was a trio of chocolate marquise, tart citro, and Eton mess, a delightful end to a wonderful meal. We were delighted with the menu, and guests were all complimentary of the food, which is always a great sign!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The wedding’s florals and décor were a seamless extension of Rachel and Barry’s vision—a black-tie affair infused with the effortless beauty of nature. Every detail was carefully curated to create an atmosphere that was both refined and ethereal, balancing sophistication with an organic, romantic feel. For the ceremony, the couple brought the outdoors in, embracing the untamed beauty of wildflowers to set a natural yet elegant tone. Lush arrangements of seasonal blooms lined the aisle, giving the impression of a whimsical garden growing in place. The colour palette was bright yet harmonious, featuring an array of pastel blues, soft pinks, warm peaches, and delicate champagne hues—each shade chosen to complement the venue’s light and neutral décor. At the altar, a breathtaking floral installation served as the focal point, where wildflowers cascaded effortlessly, framing the couple as they exchanged vows. The floral design felt organic, as if it had always belonged there, enhancing the ceremony space with a sense of warmth and intimacy. For dinner, the magic of the floral arrangements continued, effortlessly weaving through the reception space. Wildflowers and seasonal blooms were thoughtfully arranged along the length of the tables, intertwined with soft candlelight to create an intimate yet striking tablescape. The centrepieces varied in height, creating depth and movement, while delicate bud vases with single stems added an understated elegance to the table settings. The overall aesthetic was light and ethereal, perfectly mirroring the long summer days and the hazy golden-hour glow that bathed the venue. Soft fabrics, flowing drapery, and carefully placed fairy lights enhanced the dreamlike ambiance, making the entire space feel warm and inviting.

A Refined Coastal Celebration in Fairhope with Floral Prints and Effortless Style

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Light Blue and Sage Green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Our wedding design was meant to play on timeless elegance with a blend of natural charm. Fairhope incorporates lush greenery while still being on the water. We combined vibrant outdoor elements, complemented by soft, romantic hues, with our whites, greens, and gentle blues. Our bridesmaids’ dresses featured floral prints, which were to add a unique and fresh touch while tying in beautifully with the serene- I wanted guests to look at our bridesmaids and think, “These girls are the best dressed in the room!” while not looking like bridesmaids. The clean lines of my gown with the florals on my veil, beside the classic blue suits with pops of color in the ties, elevate the overall aesthetic into a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. It wanted the design to feel intimate, refined, and effortlessly chic.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The engagement day was, without a doubt, one of the most awkward days of our relationship. Keeping secrets from your best friend is no fun, and conversations don’t flow when there’s an unspoken elephant in the room.
Hayden drove Elise out to Johnson Beach, and Elise’s suspicions were confirmed the moment Hayden eagerly paid the $25 entrance fee for the Johnson Beach National Seashore. Hayden might have been more nervous than Elise, but Elise nearly passed out from anticipation before Hayden finally got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
In an instant, the weight of the day lifted. What had begun as an awkward and tense experience transformed into a moment filled with joy, excitement, and love. We had been dreaming of this day for so long, and its arrival felt surreal.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

My gown was an easy choice for me. I went in knowing what I wanted and (oddly) little emotion behind it. It wasn’t a “Say Yes to the Dress” emotional moment for me, but things just felt right. The cool part about my dress is that we customized the neckline. The original bodice of the gown was square, so we customized it a bit, making it strapless and straight across the neckline while keeping the original bodice seams and boning support. My dress was timelessly sophisticated, and the veil provided a bit of modern elegance. The gown’s simplicity allowed other parts of the day to make bold, yet elegant statements.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

My bridesmaid dresses perfectly captured my wedding’s natural and elegant theme. A mix of floral and botanical prints paired with soft blue and green tones created a fresh, vibrant aesthetic that was both cohesive and distinctive. Each dress brought its charm while harmonizing beautifully with the outdoor setting, adding a touch of individuality to the bridal party. I wanted the varied styles and patterns to offer a modern twist on a classic palette, complementing the timeless elegance of my gown and the lush surroundings. This was one of the hardest parts of wedding planning for me, as I sourced most of the dresses secondhand from different seasons. The first dress I found was a Reformation white, blue, and green floral gown that perfectly suited my Maid of Honor. Then, I discovered a deeper green Sachin & Babi dress on The RealReal, which beautifully highlighted the darker tones in the MOH dress and was ideal for one of my bridesmaids. Every dress felt like the perfect piece of a puzzle. I knew I wanted everyone in either strapless or spaghetti strap styles to maintain a consistent neckline while allowing for variety in other details. Seeing all the dresses hanging together on the rack the morning of the wedding, I finally felt like I had pulled it off. The way they looked together was everything I had envisioned.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groomsmen’s attire turned into a fun afternoon activity for Hayden and me. While Hayden didn’t take a huge role in most wedding planning, we had a blast trying on and selecting the groomsmen’s outfits together. We chose sharp, tailored blue suits as a classic option that felt polished and sophisticated. Hayden wore a lighter blue tie, while the groomsmen sported lighter green ties to create a fresh, cohesive touch that perfectly complemented the bridesmaids’ dresses. The blue suits provided a striking contrast against the natural greenery of the setting, allowing the groomsmen to stand out while harmonizing with the bridal party’s soft hues and floral designs.

Our wedding menu reflected the charm and flavors of Fairhope, offering a mix of local favorites and timeless classics. Passed appetizers like Lightly Fried Oysters with Remoulade and Pimento Cheese Phyllo Cups were a hit as guests mingled. The Fairhope Inn Crab Cakes and Gulf Shrimp paid homage to the Gulf Coast, while the Panko Crusted Chicken Tenderloins and Seared Beef Tenderloin provided hearty, crowd-pleasing options. Fresh Grilled Asparagus and Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes rounded out the spread with comforting and flavorful sides. Every dish added to the joyful atmosphere, making our day as memorable for our guests as it was for us.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our floral design, executed perfectly by Wildflowers Fairhope, beautifully encapsulated the balance between classic elegance and fresh, natural beauty. Mine and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were composed entirely of white blooms, exuding a timeless sophistication, allowing the purity of the flowers to shine while complementing the bridal party’s attire. Throughout the rest of the event, the florals introduced soft pops of blue and green amidst the white, adding depth and dimension to the arrangements. This thoughtful combination combined the entire event, creating a cohesive yet dynamic look that felt organic and harmonious with the surroundings. The subtle use of color enhanced the atmosphere, blending effortlessly with the natural and refined wedding aesthetic.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Our wedding cake, crafted by Sukar Bakes, was a delightful embodiment of elegance and flavor, ideally suited for our celebration. The lemon blueberry cake provided a light and refreshing taste, ideal for a summer event. Sukar Bakes, renowned for her elegant hand-painted wedding cakes, designed a cake that seamlessly integrates with your wedding’s color palette. Painted with blue, green, and white florals, the cake mirrored the décor and stood as a centerpiece of artistic craftsmanship. The combination of zesty lemon and sweet blueberries offered a burst of flavor, delighting your guests and leaving a lasting impression.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Our wedding ceremony and reception were filled with so many meaningful musical moments. My lifelong family friend officiated the ceremony, creating a message that beautifully reflected our love and the Gospel of Christ. Benjamin Rollings played worship songs on the grand piano as our guests arrived, setting a heartfelt and peaceful tone. I walked down the aisle to “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, one of the groom’s favorite songs, and we joyfully recessed to Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).” At the reception, The Tip Tops started with acoustic Motown classics and then transitioned to a lively mix of 70s, 80s, and modern hits that kept everyone dancing all night. Every song felt personal and unique, making the day even more unforgettable.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Our dance floor was a true showstopper, thanks to the incredible design by our stationery and branding wizard, Letts Design. She created a custom white-wrapped dance floor featuring our EH crest, beautifully surrounded by the same blue, green, and white florals that tied our wedding together. This crest was a centerpiece of our wedding stationery, from our invitations to our signage, making it so meaningful to see it brought to life on the dance floor. The design added an elegant yet personal touch to the reception, creating the perfect backdrop for our first dance and all the following celebrations. It truly captured the essence of our wedding style and left a lasting impression on our guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Our street parade exit was the perfect way to end the night, celebrating our love and our new hometown of New Orleans. After the reception, everyone lined the street as the band led us out with an incredible brass section featuring the trumpet and saxophone, creating a vibrant and unforgettable atmosphere. Paying homage to New Orleans, we walked out to “Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In,” a meaningful nod to the groom’s work with the Saints. The music and energy felt so authentic to the city we call home, making the moment even more special. It was a joyous and lively send-off that perfectly captured the spirit of our celebration and our exciting new chapter together.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Our wedding trolley ride was a memorable highlight of the day. After the ceremony, we took a detour to the beach for pictures, enjoying the calm before the celebration. The white trolley car then whisked us away to the reception, offering a fun and intimate moment with our closest friends. We toasted, laughed, and shared the excitement of the day together. It was the perfect way to pre-game the reception and savor the joy before the party began!

A Playful Pink Wedding Full of Love, Laughter, and Romantic Energy at Deane House

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Cream, Blush, Medium Pinks and Hot Pink. Accents of silver/white gold. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Throughout the planning process, pink gradually became a central theme. We had so much fun with it, especially Quin, who embraced the playful side of pink and let it shine. Our goal was for the day to feel fun, romantic, and full of life, and Madeleine delivered on that vision, while Becky captured it perfectly.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

The plan was to gauge the moment and propose when it felt right during our trip to Europe. But, as John Lennon famously said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” The day before we were set to meet up with four other friends, Carly ended up getting sick. Running out of time, I tried to convince her to at least come watch Berlin’s professional hockey team play, then take a walk to the Oberbaum Bridge. Carly, however, insisted she needed to rest. In a playful moment, she said, “Love me forever”—a phrase we use when something silly happens and one of us feels bad. Without missing a beat, I replied, “Of course I will,” and slipped the ring on her finger. Carly paused, looked at me, and said, “No…You didn’t even get down on one knee!” So, we did a little redo in a beautiful park later. Looking back, Carly has come around—what we thought was a change of plans turned out to be the perfect proposal after all.

Ines Di Santo – Margot (custom bottom) I always knew I wanted my wedding dress to feel like me, timeless but with a little something unexpected, elegant but not overdone. It wasn’t just about Quin, even though I couldn’t wait to see his reaction. This was about the dress I’d imagined for as long as I can remember.. When my mom and I saw the mesh detail on the back, we both knew it was the one. It brought this perfect balance of sophistication and uniqueness that made the dress feel special, like it was made for me.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I’ve always had a soft spot for pink. Since all of my bridesmaids are so unique, I wanted them to have the agency to choose their dresses. A dress that lets them feel confident and beautiful. Instead of going for a one-size-fits-all approach, I gave them the freedom to choose from different shades of pink, ensuring that each dress suited their tastes and made them feel their best. The goal was to create a cohesive look that felt personal and authentic, rather than sticking to a traditional, cookie-cutter bridesmaid style.

The one thing that Quinlan was firm on was getting married in a blue shawl collared tuxedo. He’d tried buying directly from a retail store but ultimately chose to go with Atelier Suiting in Calgary. Lauren took the time to meet with Quinlan and his family to design a perfectly tailored suit and shirt while also providing matching cufflinks and tuxedo buttons. A black satin bowtie and black leather loafers added the finishing touch.

Matt’s flowers felt like art grown for us. The florals were where we wanted to get creative and have some fun. When Madeleine showed us the concept for the baby’s breath Chuppah, it felt as though she had pulled the idea straight from an imagined vision board in my mind. Matt brought our vision to life in the most breathtaking way; we felt like absolute celebrities. The natural beauty of Deane House’s setting required only minimal additions, so our contributions personalized an already vibrant setting.

Music has always been a meaningful part of our lives, so we chose songs that truly reflect who we are as a couple. Quin walked down the aisle to the timeless elegance of Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra, setting a classic and romantic tone for our ceremony. Carly followed with a heartfelt instrumental version of Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs, a nod to our love’s tenderness.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Quinlan chose a nontraditional approach for his wedding ring, opting for a custom 10K

A Sophisticated Louisiana Celebration Filled with Whimsical Florals and Effortless Style

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pink, tangerine, yellow, light blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Staying true to the spirit of Louisiana, my goal was to ensure that my guests had an unforgettable experience and truly enjoyed themselves. Visually, I envisioned a formal, elegant wedding with whimsical, unique touches. I wanted to blend vibrant florals, lush greenery, and colorful décor to create an atmosphere that was both sophisticated and lively. I couldn’t have trusted anyone more than Ash Event Co. to bring our vision to life. Ashley and her team worked tirelessly to curate every detail, transforming our ideas into a beautifully cohesive event. Ashley brought fresh, creative design ideas that perfectly elevated the overall look and feel of the celebration. They excelled at managing all aspects of the wedding—from logistics and budgeting to vendor coordination—ensuring every decision was perfectly aligned with our style and preferences. Working with them was an absolute joy. Their impeccable attention to detail gave me the confidence to fully relax and enjoy a stress-free weekend, knowing everything was in their capable hands. The documentation of our day was incredibly important to me, so one of the first vendors I booked was Liz Banfield. Her photography style is fresh, effortless, and timeless, and she has an exceptional ability to capture not just the beauty of the day but also the raw emotion, joy, and intimate moments shared between our loved ones. Liz has a keen eye for detail, beautifully balancing posed shots with candid, natural moments. The overall feel was elegant, with soft lighting and a focus on authentic emotions, allowing the photos to tell the story of our day in a way that felt both personal and unforgettable. When we saw our photographs, we were blown away. The photos are stunning — everything I was envisioning — and I’ll cherish them forever.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Clay and I first met while attending business school at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. We were great friends throughout our time at school, and shortly after graduation, we began dating. A year later, we were heading to dinner near SMU when Clay suggested we drive through campus for “old times’ sake.” He then convinced me to step out of the car and take a walk to see the progress on the business school renovations. Though I wasn’t thrilled about the idea—I was dressed up in a dress and heels—he led me to the Centennial Pavilion, where he got down on one knee and proposed! It was such a meaningful moment, getting engaged in the very place where we had first met and spent so much time together. After the proposal, Clay surprised me with a dinner at Le Bilboquet, surrounded by our family and close friends who had flown in to join us in the celebration.

My first and only stop wedding dress shopping was at Warren Barron in Dallas, TX. I had long admired Mira Zwillinger’s designs on Instagram, and when I saw a gown I loved, I knew it was the one. Lucky for me, the store had just received it the week before. It was the first dress I tried on, and I immediately knew it was meant to be! I adored the classic, high-neck, long-sleeve style paired with modern, feminine lace. The gown also featured a removable jacket with a strapless gown underneath, making it perfect for transitioning from the ceremony to the reception. During the reception, I changed into a stunning Oscar de la Renta dress. I wanted something that would make a statement while still being comfortable enough to dance the night away. This sparkly piece was the perfect choice to end the night. For our rehearsal dinner, I had a clear vision in mind and enlisted the help of Jemal at Richard Brooks to bring the dress to life. He exceeded my expectations with his custom creation, and working with him was such a joy. The dress was stunning and was exactly what I had dreamed of.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

For my bridesmaids’ dresses, I wanted to give them the freedom to choose their styles, and provided a color scheme that complemented the florals of the wedding. Since six of my twelve bridesmaids were either pregnant or had recently had children, I wanted them to feel comfortable in a dress they could also wear again. It was important to me that they loved what they wore and felt at ease on the day. As for the ceremony, we decided to have just our matrons of honor, best men, and siblings stand up with us, keeping the focus on our closest family and friends. This way, we could maintain a more intimate vibe while still having our loved ones by our side.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

For our black-tie wedding, all the men wore classic black tuxedos. As a special touch, we gifted each of them a pair of monogrammed cufflinks. The groom, Clay, had his tuxedo custom-made at Culwell & Sons in Dallas, TX, ensuring it was perfectly tailored to him. It was important to me that their attire complemented the formal elegance of the day while adding a personal detail to make it even more memorable.

For our rehearsal dinner, we embraced a Louisiana theme to kick off the weekend. Guests were welcomed with famous Ruston, LA, peaches, freshly shucked oysters, and martinis. We passed a selection of delicious appetizers, including crawfish beignets, shrimp, and mini crab cakes. The main entrée featured redfish Annabelle and short ribs over risotto. To top it off, we indulged in the groom’s favorite dessert: warm chocolate chip cookies paired with ice cream, a sweet and nostalgic end to the evening. For the wedding, the cocktail hour was a fun opportunity to share our favorite bites and drinks. We passed mini grilled cheese sandwiches, truffle fries, mozzarella sticks, along with our go-to cocktails—Aperol spritzes and ranch waters. For dinner, we went with a classic surf and turf meal that would appeal to all tastes, ensuring a crowd-pleasing feast. To add a personal touch and a nod to our Louisiana roots, we served Raising Cane’s chicken sandwiches as a late-night snack—a guilty pleasure we couldn’t resist.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We were fortunate to work with local floral designer Kyle Loyd of Colony House Flowers, who truly brought our floral vision to life. Kyle and his team went above and beyond, surpassing my expectations with lush, full arrangements that perfectly captured the whimsical garden party vibe I had envisioned. I couldn’t have been happier with how the florals turned out—it was everything I dreamed of and more. For the florals and décor, I knew I wanted to create a vibrant, warm atmosphere with shades of pink, orange, and yellow, complemented by pops of blue. We decided to focus the ceremony florals on rich pinks and oranges, while for cocktail hour, we leaned into sunny yellows in the florals and linens to echo the beautiful sunset. The tent was the main focal point of the event, and we wanted it to feel intimate and welcoming. To achieve that, we incorporated custom lamps and a mix of chandeliers, which helped create a cozy, homey atmosphere. Ashley from Ash Event Co sourced the most stunning blue tent drapery from Party! Dallas and tied in blue accents through a variety of textiles and fringe banquets, adding soft, elegant touches throughout the space.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]To keep things moving after dinner, we decided not to have a wedding cake. Instead, we passed slices of cake during the dance set so that guests could enjoy a treat and then easily get back to the dance floor. For the cake, we chose pistachio cake as a nod to the first trip Clay and I took together to Colorado. The pistachio cake at Heather’s in Basalt, CO, is our absolute favorite, and we make sure to have it every time we visit. Social Bites in Ruston, LA, did a fantastic job of capturing the flavor we love so much.
To keep the energy high and the fun going, we also had some interactive desserts. One highlight was an espresso martini ice luge crafted by Red River Ice, which featured our wedding logo. It was a huge hit and added a playful touch to the celebration!
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

For our ceremony, we were truly honored to have Clay’s father officiate our wedding. It made the entire ceremony feel so personal and special, and added a meaningful touch to the day. Music was a key element for me in creating the lively, fun atmosphere I envisioned. All Strings for Granted quartet played the ceremony music, setting the tone beautifully. We had the grandparents enter to “What a Wonderful World,” followed by the wedding party walking down the aisle to the “Bridgerton Theme” song. I chose “Bitter Sweet Symphony” for my entrance—it was the perfect blend of classical strings with a modern twist. During the ceremony, we were fortunate to have a close family friend, Royce Dillard, sing “How Great Thou Art.” Her voice is so incredible and moving; she also sang this song at my grandmother’s funeral. It was a beautiful tribute, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. For the recessional, we surprised our guests with a gospel choir who sang “Joyful, Joyful” and “Higher Love” as everyone made their way to cocktail hour. It was such a fun moment and got the crowd energized for the celebration ahead! As for the reception, I knew immediately that Jessie’s Girls was the band I wanted. I’ve seen them perform at several weddings, and they are by far the most fun, high-energy band out there. Their song list, choreography, and outfits are always on point. They played for three straight hours without a break and kept everyone dancing the whole night. Our first dance song was “Real Love Baby” by Father John Misty, and to cap off the evening, Clay and I shared a private dance to “All Your’n” by Tyler Childers. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable night.

On Friday afternoon, we hosted a pickleball tournament for our wedding party and family, followed by lunch from our favorite spot, Newk’s Eatery. Carly Creative Co. designed a custom logo for the cups and pickleball paddles, adding a fun and personalized touch to the event. It was a great way to spend quality time with our loved ones before the weekend officially began.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Carly Creative Co. played an essential role in bringing our vision for the weekend to life by designing so many personalized details. Carly did an incredible job with our wedding invitations, taking all my inspiration and transforming it into something truly unique and special for our big day. From the save-the-dates and invitations to the napkins, cups, escort cards, and even the dance floor graphic, Carly ensured every detail was cohesive and thoughtfully designed. Her work truly elevated the entire event, adding a level of sophistication and charm that made everything feel seamless and memorable. She even managed to incorporate our beloved dog Roo into many details, including the invitation, the escort card wall, and custom stir sticks for the bar. We wanted to make sure our out-of-town guests felt welcome, so we put together fun welcome bags. Carly Creative Co. designed beautiful bag tags and welcome guides, which included a map of the club, a list of our favorite activities, and a weekend itinerary. One of my favorite touches was the custom deck of playing cards Carly created, featuring our favorite things on each card. It was a fun way to keep guests entertained while offering a lasting memento of the wedding. We also included our favorite snacks—Zapp’s Voodoo chips, Dallas-based cookies from J. Rae’s, and Reid’s 5 O’clock Crunch. To top it off, we gifted all our guests custom “Choudrant” hats as a keepsake from our special town. In an unexpected twist, our wedding day fell on the Oklahoma University vs. Texas game day. Since the groom is an OU alumnus, we hosted a watch party at the club for the groomsmen and guests. We had custom OU/TX cups and napkins made by The Essential Market to get everyone into the game day spirit.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

One of my favorite details was at the very end of the night. I had given my dad the freedom to choose our getaway car, and he surprised us with a red 1964 Cadillac DeVille convertible. It was the perfect addition to our grand exit. Once we got into the car, a spectacular fireworks show closed the night!

Bride: Maxwell and I met at a Bible study in early 2021. Though there was an instant spark, we stayed friends until Spring of 2023, when we started dating. Just over a year later, he proposed—and it was a dream! I had some big requests for the proposal: my close friends were there, to wear my favorite dress that my mom designed for me, a hidden photographer, and a celebration afterward. Maxwell made it all happen perfectly. On May 11, 2024, I arrived at what I thought was a friend’s birthday picnic at Leo Carrillo Ranch—only to later realize it was just a front for the proposal! While our friend was opening gifts, I was handed a box. I was mortified— after all, it wasn’t my birthday! It was my favorite dress, and a note from Maxwell, asking me to put on the dress and meet him in a specific location in the park. In shock, I quickly changed and went to find him. And there he was, standing under a beautiful archway covered in bougainvillea, where he got down on one knee and proposed. Afterward, we celebrated with our close family and friends at my parents’ house—it was perfect!

Bride: For my wedding look, I knew I wanted something ultra-timeless and elegant. My incredibly talented mom worked tirelessly to design my dream gown! She surprised me with a stunning A-line silhouette, adorned with delicate floral lace and appliqués, a matching veil, and vintage-inspired pearl earrings. The dress had dramatic long sleeves and a high neckline that perfectly complemented the formality of our Winter wedding! Every bride deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day, but getting to wear my mom’s design made me feel even more special. I will always cherish these memories!

Bride: For my bridesmaids, I wanted a look that would make them truly stand out amongst our elegantly-dressed guests. We designed a variety of gowns in luxurious hand-woven jacquards and ethereal organzas, all custom-dyed to create a cohesive palette. Their gowns added so much depth and texture to our entire wedding aesthetic, and they all looked and felt so beautiful. It was so dreamy!

Bride: “We both love food, so this part was very important to us. We worked closely with the team at the Grand Del Mar to curate a menu that incorporated our love for both meat and seafood, and they delivered! We offered scallops, Chilean sea bass, and braised short rib. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, we opted for a plated chocolate mousse dessert for our guests. Our guests loved the food! “

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Delicate rose petals were scattered as the bride walked down the aisle to an overgrown floral arch for their intimate ceremony. Following the vows, guests were invited to a cocktail hour on the terrace, where they were welcomed by a playful mix of curated furniture pieces, perfect for lounging and mingling. With a glass of champagne in hand, they cozied up next to fireplaces draped in lush florals, anticipating the celebration that was about to unfold.

Through an iron gate, adorned in cascading florals, guests were transported into a realm where magic lingered in the air. The Capella Ballroom was dressed in florals and illuminated by the soft glow of countless candles, creating an intimate ambiance that felt timeless. The atmosphere felt effortlessly captivating, as if stepping into a different time altogether.

Best-of-season bloom reception arrangements by Organic Elements were growing up from sterling silver bowls and lion-head champagne buckets designed by the bride’s mother, Trish Scully, and paired with various old-world-inspired silver candelabras.

Whimsical Richard Ginori china was paired with custom-designed napkins by Trish Scully and accented with sparkling crystal glassware. Guests lost themselves on the checkered dance floor, and the evening ended with a sparkling exit, offering the perfect finale to a celebration that was nothing short of unforgettable.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Bride: “Instead of a traditional wedding cake, we served our guests a plated chocolate mousse dessert and opted for a smaller, two-tiered cake. Our cake designer, Stevi from Hey There Cupcake, created a stunning three-dimensional chinoiserie design adorned with her signature wafer flowers that added so much texture! We couldn’t have loved our cake more! “

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Bride: “The only thing that I would say was very thematic (unexpectedly, actually) was the reading of 1 Corinthians 13 (the iconic love passage from the Bible). It was something we put on our ceremony program, our officiant read it, it was incorporated into my vows, and it was read in a couple of toasts. That was fun and meaningful to us.” Bride: “For my processional song, I chose Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy. Ever since learning to play the piano as a kid, it’s always been my dream to use it for my wedding day! Max and I also love the oldies, so we chose our favorite classic, “Everybody Loves Somebody” by Dean Martin. It was such a fun song to dance to and fit our vibe!”

Bride: “The best idea I had was a second outfit before the reception. I changed into a strapless jacquard gown, and Maxwell changed into a white jacket, and we’re so glad we did that!”

The iconic Goodstone Inn makes such a statement in itself and was the perfect backdrop for their summertime soirée! They elevated the gorgeous ivy wall with summery baskets and urns filled with textural white florals. Mada carried an all-white mono bouquet of fluffy white peonies, and the tablescapes highlighted all-white roses and candles. Set to a backdrop of luscious green velvet linens and juxtaposed against the classic checkerboard dance floor, the tables filled the sailcloth tent beautifully!
