Aspen Wedding by Nine Photography

Up next is the most fabulous, personality-filled, rustic Aspen affair by Nine Photography. With the sweetest nods to the gorgeous natural landscape mixed with some serious style, it’s the perfect blend of converse meets pinecones meets the most gorgeous ruffle-filled gown. Curious to see how that turns out? Well, it’s fabulous – I promise – and there is more to see in the full gallery!

From Nine PhotographyA simple, rustic ranch affair in the meadow looking on the famous Maroon Belles mountain.  Amy & Shawn were engaged in the same area, so they wanted to make their wedding day in the same spot Shawn proposed.  The details were simple, DIY projects done by Amy & her sister.  Beautiful little details like the photos inside mason jars, 8×10 photos hanging from clothesline string, and hand carved Aspen tree stumps as centerpieces.

From the Bride… Our wedding took place at the T Lazy 7 Ranch in Aspen, Colorado on July 9, 2011.  Our ceremony was in the meadow facing the mountains and the reception was at the lodge below. We wanted the wedding to feel natural and fresh, with details that would mesh well with our amazing venue. Mostly we used natural colors like green and brown, but we had pretty pops of purple in the bridesmaid dresses and flowers. We used a lot of outdoor elements like tossing leaves instead of bird seed, place cards that were held up by pine cones, Aspen tree vases (we carved our initials and little phrases into the sides!), we placed pine tree branches in the napkins, set up the most beautiful campfire for s’mores, our ring bearer carried rings down the aisle tied to a little fishing pole, and we even combined dirt from all of our important places instead of a unity candle or sand. Our ceremony was filled with beautiful acoustic guitar music and a little of Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” as my processional. Guests were treated to tiny monogramed gift boxes and a photo booth complete with crazy props. The guests scrapbooked one of their photos for us with a message and kept the others- it was a huge hit! After tons and tons of dancing we ended the night with sparklers under the stars. It was the most incredible experience!

The Cammidge House Wedding by Joee Wong

I have one very serious love affair going on with this gorgeous British Columbia soiree by the oh-so-amazing Joee Wong.  And, really, with one lovely detail after another, it would be impossible not to be completely enamored with this bundle of wedding goodness.  The casual, yet elegant vibe, the sweet blooms by Coco Fleur, the cute as can be bridesmaid frocks, the backyard barbecue… it all has me grinning from ear to ear with pure wedding joy.  Not to mention that the uber-stunning bride just so happens to be Sandy Tam, aka one very fabulous wedding photographer.  And her adorable groom?  Her second shooter.  How stinkin’ cute is that?  Click here for even more.

From the Sandy Tam (The Bride)… Albert and I have THREE big LOVES in our life.  Our wedding was planned around that.

Love #1: We love cooking and we love eating great food.  Our wedding favours were recipe cards of 10 of our favorite recipes that Albert and I photographed and designed.  Our caterer offered us an Asian fusion menu (because we are Chinese and our parents wanted something Asian) alongside Japadogs (Japanese hot dogs – the best street food you can find in Vancouver).  When Albert and I first started our long distance relationship, we made caramel apple pie together every time we visited each other.  Apple pie was the only thing we wanted to cut into on our wedding day.  Our first date was at a dessert joint called True Confections, so we sourced cakes from them for our dessert table.  Albert’s boutonniere was made out of edible herbs.

Love #2: I am passionate about photography (obviously) and Albert is my second shooter at my weddings. Photography is an important element in both our lives.  We planned our wedding from a photographer’s eye even though it meant breaking some Chinese tradition. For the Chinese tea ceremony, we had it outdoors (“normally” indoors), in the evening (“normally” in the morning) and on Friday before the wedding (“normally” on the same day as the wedding).  This is because I wanted all natural, sunset lighting for the tea ceremony.  On our wedding day, everything was outdoors because again, nothing is better than natural lighting.  I wanted back-lit sunset shots during ceremony and therefore, we aligned the guest seating so that it faces the sun.  We had our ceremony at 5:00 p.m. so that the sun would be at the right height as we walk down the aisle.  Our creative session with our photographer was done at 6:00 p.m. also for best lighting.

Love #3: Dog and Friends! At least once a week, we would have friends over at our place to hang out and enjoy a nice meal together. Chilling with our friends is our way of enjoying life. We wanted our wedding to be like “hanging out with friends.”  We rented loungers and bar tables for this reason.  All of our vendors, other than the caterer, are our close friends.  My photographer is my mentor. For our dog, West, it was important that she walked down the aisle because she is part of our family. We flew her to Vancouver in a kennel.  I didn’t want to burden her with a dress on a hot summer day.  Instead, I made her a pearl necklace for simplicity.

From the bride’s perspective, the biggest lesson I learned was to keep things light.  Try not to over-think and over-analyze. Original ideas will start to come out once you stop looking for them and everything will just naturally come together in a personal and unique way.  It will surprise you!

From the Bride…I am Australian and Mark is Irish and we chose to have our wedding ceremony on neutral ground by the sea in Santa Maria di Castellabate, Italy.  Fifty of our closest family and friends flew in from Australia, Ireland, England, Taiwan and the USA.  In Italy we would have the sunshine like Australia and we would also be acknowledging Mark’s Italian heritage.  We fell in love with the authentic and picturesque town during our site visit, and knew that out friends and family would love the food, atmosphere and laid-back feel of the place too.  Mark and I both work in creative industries so we wanted to try and fuse our personalities into the day, from designing and illustrating the stationery to crafting decorations.  Although Mark and I like the character of the old town and buildings, we also love a modern aesthetic and found our perfect wedding venue at the beach side resort, Trezene.  The minimalist and modern decor was a great blank canvas for us to add our own touches, such as pops of vibrant color through flowers, handmade tissue-paper pom poms and origami.  We only saw the venue once prior to our wedding but because we had taken about a million pictures of the venues and hired a wedding planner who works just in that area, we were able to imagine and create an exciting and memorable day for everyone.

We took guests on a ‘magical mystery tour’ from the beach side/poolside terrace, to the UNESCO heritage listed hilltop town of Castellabate, where they were serenaded by a local guitar and mandolin player while drinking pink prosecco and enjoying Italian cakes and savories in the town square.  It was so lovely to be amongst the local people who were so friendly and all came up to us to wish us congratulations.  When the sun began to set Mark and I, along with the guitar and mandolin player led everyone through the cobbled streets to our candlelit restaurant with the most stunning view of the coastline.

The morning of the wedding, I swam in the ocean with my best friend.  It was so cleansing and relaxing and was the perfect start to the day.  Mark and I had breakfast together and then went for a long walk on the beach.  We said goodbye and that we would see each other later on at the ceremony.  I’d highly recommend this if you have time, it was so beautiful to be able to spend time alone together and take in the excitement of the day ahead.

It was great fun to organize the event on our own being the only ones who had been to the destination before, and surprise our guests continually throughout the day.  Friends contributed to our day by playing guitar, flute and singing during our ceremony, some friends gave beautiful readings, decorated the venue with decorations pre-made in Ireland, and two of my filmmaker friends documented the day with video and super 8.  One of my very talented friends also made my wedding dress.   The ceremony was the most amazing and significant part of the day, by having friends and family from all over the world there to witness our celebration of love was a feeling which was unrivalled and one which we couldn’t have prepared for.  An unexpected highlight for me was our first dance.  We had taken a couple of dance lessons and had learned a simple and fun routine, which no one knew about and which we had practiced in the weeks leading up to the wedding.  It felt like everything was present and right in that moment during the dance, surrounded by our guests who were clapping and egging us on, but just the two of us together, it felt like this was the start of the party and the rest of our lives.

From Ivy WeddingsStacy and John had an intimate southern wedding at the bride’s childhood church. Stacy’s vintage taste was reflected in her choice of dress, shoes, hairpiece, and bouquet. The bride sprinkled details throughout her wedding and reception that reminded everyone of the couple’s elegant, classic sense of romance. Los Angeles Wedding from Ariel Yves Design + JL Photographers

Gorgeous, glamourous, classic, and chic. Four words to PERFECTLY describe this Los Angeles wedding. Gorgeous was the bride, with her mother in law’s veil, and her radiating smile. Glamourous was the deep emerald green that ran deep throughout, from my new favorite bridesmaid dresses, to the groom’s cufflinks. Classic were the elegant ballroom, the fabulous tablescapes, and the perfect images, from JL Photographers. And chic was the phenomenal floral design from Ariel Yves Design. Definitely one for the books. Click here to see the rest!

We had been looking for our venue for two years. I wanted elegant and classic and my husband wanted a more traditional feel with a great after party. It was extremely hard to accommodate both types and I was about ready to give up. My husband actually came across the Millennium Biltmore and I agreed to go see it. We walked in and were blown away by the classic décor and amazing architecture; the chandlers in every room were the perfect elegant touch. We were able to have two different rooms, one for our ceremony that lent itself so perfectly to having a grand aisle we didn’t even have an aisle runner. The other for our reception where cocktail hour was in the same room as dinner but the dining area was raised in separation. It couldn’t have been more perfect.

As for our style, I wanted it to be more elegant and because the venue was so bold with its decor we didn’t want to add too many details to it, our flower choice was to have clouds of baby’s breath at the tables and keep with colors that picked up the smaller details from the venue. Since we were going to Paris for our honeymoon we incorporated small details like the table card holders into our style.

We had been together for almost 10 years before we got married so the whole wedding was really more for our family and friends. The one thing that was for just us were our vows. We wrote our vows ourselves and oddly (or not so oddly) enough our vows were exactly the same! I think its because we are such a big part of each other, it may be silly but he is my other half, I can feel how I am not whole when he is gone, so saying words that were so personal to each other added that special touch to make the ceremony more for us.

My favorite moment was walking up the steps into the grand ceremony room. We had decided not to see each other before the ceremony and it was so worth it. All I really remember is wanting to leave to be with my husband. It was a great day and a great party and I was so happy to see all my friends and family but I just wanted to be with my husband and talk to him about my day. All in all everything was so amazing to us.

Our DJ was so much more than we could ask for, everyone loved how he kept them all involved and gave them an entire experience. This was great news for us because I had such a hard time finding a good one and when we finally found these guys they wowed us, so we were so glad to sign them two months before our wedding! Our photographers also worked really well with our entire family and everyone loved that fact that they were a married couple that worked together.  Everyone commented how it was the best wedding they had ever been to and we actually got a few thank you cards from people thanking us for inviting them to the event of the century. That made us feel great because we really felt the experience was more for them, our love will always and would have always been there no matter what our wedding was like.

Segerius-Bruce Photography was on hand to capture all the special details and I must say, I was blown away when I read this couple was on a tight budget, because this pretty fete is all class and style. No doubt the cute couple saved tons of cash when they hand made most of the decor and favors. Click here for more.

From Segerius-Bruce PhotographyThe wedding was inspired by the couples love of classic things like vintage tea cups, old school games and the Great British Summer as well as the couples love of photography.

The groom designed and produced the order of service booklets while the bride and bridesmaids made the confetti cones from paper doilies. The favors were all handmade (bracelets for the ladies (made by the bride) and strawberry jam for the gents (made by the groom). Also hand-made were the rose iced cupcakes made by the bride and family. Most of the stationery (table plan, table numbers and menu’s, luggage tags) were a team effort. The official invites and name cards were professionally made. Props for the makeshift photobooth were also made by the groom. And he sourced the finger print tree and chalk board for their thank you note to the guests.

The addition of the bride’s private ballet performance before the ceremony and the ice cream stand after are fully attributed to the groom who wanted to surprise his bride on the day (she was left speechless and totally ruined her freshly applied makeup). The groom also organized for the bride to have the classic London transport she really wanted – black cabs (to the church) and a classic double-decker routemaster bus to the reception – the Bride was so excited.

From the Bride…We wanted to give our guests a different wedding experience – like being at an English regatta or summer fair. We were lucky to find such stunning venue’s (church and reception) so close to London both stooped with history from a period we loved, that worked perfectly. With a tight budget and passion for making things we also wanted to personalize our wedding by making as many elements of the wedding as possible!

Brooklyn Museum Wedding by Denise Fasanello Floral Design + Jen Huang Photography

Clean lines and marvelous museum affairs makes my heart sing the prettiest of songs. There is just something so absolutely perfect about the marriage of beautiful artwork and an equally beautiful fête, particularly when the bride is inspired by the museum itself. So my heart is most certainly singing over this gorgeous gala captured by one of my all time favorites – Jen Huang, with seriously stylish florals from Denise Fasanello Floral Design at the Brooklyn Museum. There is so much style to be had, and you can see all the reasons why I am hitting the high notes in the full gallery of images!

Click here to see the entire gallery of images!

From Denise Fasanello Floral DesignQuite simply this wedding was inspired by the Brooklyn Museum itself. Both Jessica and Michael wanted a minimalist, and clean design that would compliment the museum’s rich art collection without distracting from it. The ceremony was held inside the entrance under a striking contemporary glass canopy. The canopy allows for a copious amount of natural light to reign down while beautifully fusing with the building’s original marble facade. A true marriage of traditional and modern design.

After the ceremony guests were led to the grand Beaux Arts ballroom where the reception was held. The graphic marble tiling on the floor inspired the centerpiece design. Each table held a trio of vases with single flower groupings in deep magenta, purples and blues. Bright chartreuse green was added in order to keep it light and fresh feeling.

All the details were captured so beautifully under photographer Jen Huang’s artful gaze. A masterpiece.

Jupiter Engagement Session by Jemma Coleman Photography

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many beautiful dress and hair changes in an e-session before and I’m totally loving this bride-to-be’s style. Jemma Coleman Photography followed this adorable couple as they hit up all their favorite spots around their neighborhood including their favorite date night restaurant, which is such a great idea. They rode their long-boards as their super cute boxer, Nala jogged beside them and then they cozied up on the beach. You can totally tell that everyone, including Nala, had a blast! Click here for more.

From Jemma Coleman PhotographyShawn & Rebecca truly are the ultimate beach-town couple. They love their sweet home in Jupiter that they share with their lovable boxer Nala. For their engagement session, it was important to showcase them in their element, doing what’s natural: long-boarding with the dogger, stopping by one of their favorite surf spots, snuggling up, and enjoying their favorite local date spot. Vibrant and sun-washed images are our signature style and Shawn and Rebecca fit that perfectly! They’ll soon be tying the knot next April at the Sundy House in Delray Beach.

From NLC ProductionsMegan and Clay chose Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse as a nod to Megan’s parents, who were also married on a mountain top.  They loved the rustic vibe of the venue and knew that they wanted a fun wedding full of family, friends, and music.  It rained on the day of the wedding, so the outdoor ceremony was quickly moved inside.  We set the chuppah up in front of the fireplace and guests gathered around as Megan walked down the aisle with her father.  After the ceremony, guests mingled as Triple Chicken Foot, an amazing bluegrass band, played and then made their way into the reception tent.

We designed a rustic but romantic look around a palate of fuschia and teal.  Megan chose the most amazing wood tables which we covered with a teal runner from La Tavola linen and mixed with square tables covered in La Tavola’s Tuscany natural.  Nico Designs brought in beautiful most beautiful mercury glass, antique silver and blue glass to hold the amazing peony and garden rose blooms.

Beverly Hills Hotel Wedding from Levine Fox Events + John Solano

De-luxe. This Beverly Hills Hotel wedding is capital DELUXE. Levine Fox Events planned the spectacular affair with the gorgeous bride and groom, and every detail is dripping in luxury. I seriously feel like I’ve stumbled across an old Hollywood party – complete with beautiful red roses, a stunning candlelight ceremony, and an ambiance that can only be described as sparkling. John Solano Photography was able to capture the day in a way that has me begging for more – and lucky for me (and you!) there is a whole lot more in the full image gallery!

From Lavine Fox Events … Our couple – originally from Germany (Bride) and Beverly Hills (groom) currently live in Las Vegas and both hold quite prestigious jobs in the hotel industry.  Their event was a destination wedding.  With a bridesmaid’s spa & high tea get together at the home of the groom’s sister on Friday afternoon, to the rehearsal dinner at Il Cielo, and the brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunday, it was a weekend of fun filled events, love and good friends and family.

The Wedding was a traditional Jewish ceremony performed by the Bride’s family Rabbi’s who were flown in from Las Vegas.
The ceremony took place in the lush garden of the Beverly Hills Hotel.  Nancy from Mark’s Garden as well as Alyson & Diane from Levine Fox Events, designed a traditional yet elegant setting for the ceremony to take place, using all ivory and white flowers.  The Chuppah also adorned a crystal chandelier which added a touch of glitz which the bride loved.  Classical music from the six piece string based group provided by West Coast Music filled the air as guests entered the garden. Ladies were handed pashminas in case they felt the chill of the February night air.  Guests were also asked to sign a special wine bottle with custom label for the bride and the groom (avid wine drinkers).

Once the ceremony was complete, guests were then escorted by hotel staff to the foyer of the Rodeo Ballroom.  There they were greeted by a color scheme of fuchsia floral and silver draped accents.  Upon entry to the foyer, guests collected their escort cards which laid upon three square tables at different heights with floral and glowing candle accents.  They then had a chance to view photos of the bride and grooms family, past and present from the display on the ancestor tables. Each family member was represented with their photo in an elegant jeweled frame with calligraphied card placed in front showing their relation to the bride and groom.  Guests dined on delicious passed hors d’oeurves, specialty passed drinks, and jazzy tunes from West Coast Music.

When the ballroom doors opened, everyone gasped.  Ooohs and Ahhhs were whispered to each other as everyone was escorted to their tables.  The colors or Red, Burgundy, Fuchsia & Black completely transformed this elegant yet simple room into a completely new environment.  The room was draped in red, with black tie backs on each side.  A proscenium and unique draping accents set the stage apart from the rest of the room.  A long oval head table made a grand statement with elegant chair covers donning over-sized roses, round booths around the perimeter of the room offered unique & comfortable seating and the rectangle tables throughout also gave a “hip” vibe to this unique layout.  A red applique of the bride & groom’s name and elegant lighting lit the beautiful glossy black dance floor.

Each centerpiece was a bit different, some high, some low all with use of “bling” accents.  Custom Personalized Menus were placed at each seat and each table number was embroidered onto dupioni silk fabric tent cards.  The wedding cake was complete with it’s own unique backdrop, specialty linens and floral cake stand.  Guests enjoyed a custom designed menu complete with amuse bouche, passed desserts, greasy,  late night snacks as well as a special birthday, champagne toast made from the groom to the bride at midnight.  The warm toasts, feelings of love, unique accents and incredible music filled this night and to this day our special couple and their parents still receive calls and notes about their night of magic.

Buellton Wedding by Kelli Elizabeth

Your lunch break has just gotten about a million times prettier thanks to this drop dead gorgeous California wedding by Kelli Elizabeth. There are so many details that have had me swooning all morning and they are, in no particular order: the ah-maz-ing floral displays, the gorgeous table linens puddling onto the floor of the barn, the soft and sweet pink bridesmaids dresses, the incredible barn (obvi), and the gorgeous Christmas tree gift table which, if I got married in December like this couple, I would so totally do that too! And the best part of all is that the bride and her planner, Jill Walsh, DIYed the entire pretty fete. Click here for even more.

From planner Jill Walsh…Once seeing the rustics of Zaca Creek Ranch, we immediately knew that the contrast to that would be a soft muted elegance. We accomplished that by choosing soft ivories, cream and blush pink as colors to soften the “ranch” feel, achieving a look of “elegant rustic.” A “Pride and Prejudice” feel of old luxury playing against the rolling winter hills of Los Olivos and the backdrop of a working ranch. From the hanging chandelier to the silver and china on the tables, all with mismatched white candles in mercury glass and old glass votives, also using chalkboard seating charts and rolled pink and ivory throw blankets to warm up outside with. Dessert was served among silver tea trays and silver handled servers. The effect was ultimately soft and dreamy. This was accomplished mostly by DIY.

Courtney and I traveled to Santa Barbara/Ventura to scour the flea markets and second hand stores hunting for the silver centerpiece bowls, old vintage votives, fabrics, pillows and sliver trays. Not wanting a traditional “gift table” Courtney had the idea of nodding to the season (December) by using a real Christmas tree as the gift table. We stayed to the look by using 1,000 white lights, a ivory channeled tree skirt with the name Walsh on it and a crystal star as a topper. Three real Christmas wreaths, adorned with mercury glass ornaments, were also hung on the enormous barn doors leading out to the dance patio. The whole night was elegant, but fun and relaxed, whether gathered around the outdoor bonfire enjoying pupus (Hawaiian for hor dourves) or feasting on the mesquite wood cooked meat inside the candlelit, warm and glowy barn.

From Acres of Hope PhotographyA classy, elegant affair- Shauna and Cody were married at Emma Estate, a private residence in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Featuring timeless colors and florals, and a few DIY details (the bridesmaids’ floral sashes, as well as the flower girls’ attire).

From Rebecca Gaffney, Red Letter Days Events…From the first moment I met Shauna Stoughton Miller and her mother, Lisa, I was struck by their kindness, their strong commitment to their family and loved ones, and their unwavering faith. It was an instant friendship and laid the groundwork for a joyful, inspired planning experience for Shauna and Cody’s wedding day. Our path was guided by creating signature moments that were extremely important to Shauna, Cody, and their families, which then developed the aesthetic framework for those elements. “I wanted to cherish every second of the day like my time with my mom as I got ready, eating breakfast with my bridesmaids, praying with my dad before I walked down the aisle, telling Cody my vows, our first kiss as a married couple, the father-daughter dance…” explained Shauna.

True to Shauna and Cody’s sweet yet sophisticated charm, a garden feel with a hint of vintage was created for the day at the stunningly beautiful Emma Estate in Rancho Santa Fe. “It was an incredible job of making it romantic yet not over the top,” Shauna shared. Paula Rae Anderson for Rae Florae created personal and decorative floral that spoke to the classy whimsy Shauna sought. While maintaining a natural feel, Paula translated Shauna and Cody’s color palate of pewter, steel, slate, eggplant, and soft white through bouquets and vinyets made of peonies, garden roses, dahlias, hydrangea, dusty miller, tulips, sweet peas, ranunculus, and mini cymbidium orchids. Soft market lighting draped the garden and dance floor, and mirrored the glow of romance that came from Shauna and Cody. The couple’s attire, along with that their wedding party, was perfectly matched for the day – dressy garden party.

Lisa, a graphic designer, created all the paper elements, and we had a blast working through the design of the candy bar (which incorporated Lisa’s mother’s china); the groom’s cake presentation – a Green Bay Packers “helmet” (another key element that was a surprise for Cody); and the Mexican cuisine-inspired menu (the couple’s favorite), which was planned with Chef Axel Dirolf, executive chef for SeaWorld San Diego.
The couple’s favorite music completed the perfect ambiance, thanks to Jay Brannen, and with a sparkler send off, the couple left Emma Estate ecstatic about what the day meant and what the day meant to them.

From the Bride… Eric and I had been dating for a year and a half when I surprised him with a 30th birthday trip to New York City to see the Rangers play the Flyers.  In turn he took me up to the top of Rockefeller Centre and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together!  When we arrived home I started slowly pulling together some ideas and themes for the wedding, but it was so difficult to choose; I wanted it all.

We decided to have the wedding in my hometown of Calgary where we both live with most of our close friends nearby.  After our first venue fell through we had to scramble with 9 months to go to find a venue that could hold a potential 200 person guest list.  We decided to really focus on what really mattered to us and that was the people that would be in that room and not the room itself.  With that in mind we found the perfect venue in the private sports club that I had grown up playing badminton, tennis, swimming and bowling.  They had just gone through a major renovation and they could not have been more accommodating.  The food was amazing and the fact that it had always been such an important fixture in my life made it even more special. Once the reception venue was taken care or we had to figure out where the ceremony would be.  Again we decided to go with something meaningful and choose a small Anglican church that was a few blocks from my parent’s house.  I had listened to the bells ring my entire childhood and it made perfect sense that they would ring on my wedding day.

I had planned on a vintage theme with the candelabras and the baby’s breath, but when I went for my consult for my invites I ended up moving in a modern direction.  Alissa at Plush invitations was so amazing in helping me realize my vision first with the invites and then with trying to tie the rest of the stationery and paper in with my original vintage feel.   We had a macaroon tree and macaroon table instead of a cake and I had the stylist source a baker that could create black and white Boston Terrier shaped cookies so that our two little dogs could be represented.  I also had a photo taken of the two of them “dressed” in a bow tie and a tutu with a caption that read, “What do you mean we can’t come??” Our last detail that we were really proud of was our decision to donate 2 donkeys, a flock of chickens and a goat to remote villages in Africa instead of table favors.  I had Alissa create the card following the theme of our invitations and then I framed them in hand painted gold and bronze frames and placed them on each table.

From Jillian Mitchell PhotographyChelsea and Matt got married at the Brisa del Mar palapa in Sayulita, Mexico. Guests came from as far as Australia to be a a part of this intimate affair on a cliff top overlooking the long stretch of beach in town below. They got ready at Villa Amor a gorgeous hotel just below the ceremony and reception site and we took most of the wedding portraits there and at Playa de Los Muertos a small private beach down the road. Yazmin and Nierica from Sea of Dreams Weddings kept the design simple, but elegant with gorgeous flower arrangements and white and yellow accents. Of course no wedding in Mexico would be complete without some tacos al pastor and fireworks to top everything off.

San Luis Obispo Wedding from Sarah Kathleen + April Flowers

This California garden wedding has got our hearts over here at the SMP offices all in a frenzied pitter patter. Now, I’m not totally done with this wedding, and I’m betting you’re not – so click here for the highlight film from Redmond Digital Media.

Besides being in love with our venue, we were completely inspired by it. Think colorful flowers sprouting from funky green plants, faded brick courtyards and little pathways, and even a giant redwood. Aside from nature, the inspiration was about family. We’re an artsy bunch and Bowen and I wanted everyone to create together. Our friends cooked for us, my mom crafted little trees from branches for perched birds and blossoms, and for eight months we all had the best time hunting down various patterns of second-hand china for the reception tables. Etsy artists also worked with me to create bird garland, ruffled burlaptable runners and place cards with seeds in the paper for guests to grow wildflowers at home. The goal was to give the day aromantic/whimsical feel.

My favorite moment was reading our vows. We wanted to write personal notes to each other to read aloud, and we don’t regret it for one second. Sure, it’s pretty daunting being all speechy in front of a crowd. But It was a wonderful feeling being so open for our friends and loved ones to hear. And Bowen and I were both really touched from what we had to say to one another.

Bowen and I are one of those couples who are opposites individually, but together we blend into something awesome. There was definitely “the spark” when we first met six years ago – a sort of back-and-forth clash of witty teasing, sly smiles and flirty ways that’s just so attractive. We still have that, which I love. We also play a mean game of Scrabble, adore our dog, Penny, with all our hearts and most of all, make each other laugh. And who doesn’t love a great belly laugh?
