[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Makala and Sean envisioned a modern, colorful, festive wedding weekend. Starting with a laid back rehearsal dinner at the The Westin Maui Resort and Spa. Guests sipped on craft cocktails poolside followed by an intimate dinner surrounded by tropical greens. The floral filled wedding day featured a lush, vibrant, tropical arch with cascading florals. Playful patterned linens and an elevated lounge added to the laid back romantic vibe of the day. Hanging pendant lights mixed with tropical foliage above the bar and head table added a romantic garden feel.

Garnish Craft Cocktail Catering served up tasty craft cocktails throughout the evening.

A Stationer Bride’s Blue And White Garden Destination Wedding in Tuscany, Italy

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were blue, white, green, cream, and gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Ed and Darcy’s vision was to host an event that celebrated the natural beauty and rustic elegance of the Tuscan countryside while weaving in touches of both of their personal tastes. They wanted it to look and feel like a refined yet comfortable al fresco garden party, taking as much inspiration from nature and the region as possible. The colors were inspired by their own home and wardrobe palettes, and many touches were inspired by their mutual appreciation of antique furniture and art. With the bride being a lover of all things floral and botanical, they also brought in floral elements throughout the stationery, decor, tablescape, her gown, and the bridesmaids’ dresses.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]When Darcy and Ed began loosely discussing where they might want to tie the knot one day, Italy immediately came up as an option they both absolutely loved the look, feel, and atmosphere of. This was, however, despite not having a chance to visit together yet as their relationship began just as the pandemic did. When it was safe to do so, they planned a romantic trip to the Amalfi coast in the spring of 2022, which is where Ed proposed on a boat with the view of Positano in the background. They spent the rest of the holiday drinking prosecco and starting to dream up their Italian wedding. [/field]

The bride knew that Reem Acra‘s Open Your Heart gown was going to be hers as soon as she saw it. After trying on what felt like every floral-inspired gown there was, this one immediately felt unequivocally “her” with its stunning floral applique, unique illusion neckline, and ethereal, slightly translucent skirt. The open back and surprisingly light and comfortable wearability solidified its status as her dream dress.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids wore mismatched blue dresses of their choice, ranging in tone from light sky to deep navy and varying in pattern and texture, and some with touches of white or green. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groomsmen each wore their own blue suits, paired with mismatched vintage Ferragamo silk ties that Ed sourced himself and gifted to them.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]

During cocktail hour, their 75 guests from the U.S. and U.K. toasted the newlyweds with ice-cold Aperol Spritzes, negronis, processo, and Italian beers paired with an array of local cheeses, meats, and antipasti. The four-course, plated dinner took place over nearly 3 hours while Terre Di Nano‘s own Montepulciano wines flowed and the remaining speeches punctuated each course. The primi piatti, or first courses, were two handmade pasta dishes. First, a truffle and ricotta ravioli, followed by a pici pasta with red Tuscan ragù. Pici is a hand-rolled shape of pasta unique to the region, and absolutely delicious. For the main course, guests savored a cinta cense pork fillet topped with red onion and balsamic vinegar sauce and a selection of sides. This is the prized pork meat of the region, which is lean yet savory. Lastly, the couple served traditional Italian millefoglie cake with fresh strawberries and of course, espresso. After midnight, slices of pizza from the venue’s century-old wood-burning pizza oven were passed to help fuel the late-night dancing.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

ToscOana Flowers brought their white and green floral dreams to life with a beautiful spread of white blooms, including a classic ceremony arch and a romantic trail of flowers climbing up an olive tree between their two long dinner tables. They also provided the antique-style brass vases and candlestick holders used throughout the tablescape. The couple opted for simple string lighting throughout the olive grove, in addition to the cream taper candles along each table, to set a cozy and natural ambiance for the al fresco evening reception. The bride, a wedding stationer, hand-made their navy blue silk ribbon place cards which tied a small olive branch to each napkin atop the custom gold-foil printed menus, also designed and produced by the bride. For the tablescape, the couple opted for pieces that celebrated antique styles, including pearl-handled silverware, blue and white floral plates, and a mix of vintage brass vases and candlestick holders. All of the thoughtfully selected items were placed atop dusty blue linen tablecloths, which brought in a subtle but energizing pop of color.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Before their first dance, the couple cut into a traditional Italian Millefoglie cake with fresh strawberries, which was prepared by Terre di Nano’s talented in-house culinary team. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]In true Swiftie fashion, the bride walked down the aisle with her father to a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” performed by a string duo. Following their first kiss, the couple recessed to cocktail hour to a string performance of the classic and joyful “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. After cutting the cake, the couple kicked off the live music and evening of dancing with their first dance to a live cover of “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]After producing her own invitations, the bride has since become a full-time wedding stationery designer. Coming from a creative marketing background, Darcy was excited to design their invitation suite and other paper goods and wedding branding. Throughout the process of working with printers, sourcing vintage stamps, and assembling each suite, she fell in love with the creative and tactile art that is wedding stationery and decided to pursue it full-time. She designed and produced the couple’s letterpress save the dates, letterpress and gold-foil invitations, their custom envelope liners and silk ribbon place cards, and sourced the collage of vintage stamps and silk ribbon used for their suites. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]In England, where the groom is from, it is tradition for the groom to give a full wedding speech during the reception. The couple was excited to honor this tradition with a modern addition during their cocktail hour. The bride, an American, gave the first speech of her own, which was then immediately followed by the groom’s speech. [/field]

You’re Going To Want To See This Chic Coastal Color Wedding In Newport

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Floral patterns, blue, pink, yellow, green.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The wedding weekend started with a rehearsal dinner and welcome party on the grass courts at the iconic International Tennis Hall Of Fame in Newport, RI. Guests mingled throughout the horseshoe, with chic lounge furniture, lawn games, an antique ice cream cart, a candy bar, and a late-night pizza truck. Wedding day: Coastal, fun, colorful. The next day, wedding festivities were set at a historic private club known for its grand architecture and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, providing an idyllic backdrop for their exchange of vows. Every element, from the delicate, spring-colored floral design to the sweeping sailcloth Sperry tent, was thoughtfully curated to reflect the couple’s unique style and aesthetic and complement the event’s natural surroundings. Guests were greeted with a warm welcome and guided through a beautiful ceremony filled with heartfelt vows, luscious floral designs lining the aisle, and an exquisite chuppah with a hand-embroidered tallit. The outdoor cocktail hour, overlooking the sun-kissed coastline transported guests to a world of sophistication and delight. The sail-cloth-tented reception unveiled a meticulously designed space adorned with cascading seasonal flowers, twinkling lights, and elegant tablescapes. The dance floor, filled with laughter and joy, became a testament to the couple’s infectious happiness and the love shared by all. Our goal was to create a wedding that captured the essence of Caroline and Michael’s love story and the timeless charm of Newport.

Both grooms wanted to incorporate their cultures into the wedding, especially Ameya’s Indian background. He even flew to India to pick out traditional outfits for himself and Ryan for the wedding. Paired with traditional accessories and shoes, they had a few people in Lake Como ask if they were some sort of royalty! Besides their Indian attire, to really be able to party more comfortably, they then changed into their western suits for dinner time and dancing.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The grooms had private vows during their ceremony. It was a very emotional moment for everybody attending as it showcased all the issues they have encountered for being a same sex couple in the USA. Their relationship started at age 18, now 14 years ago. Ryan expressed his feelings of remembering how they weren’t even legally allowed to be together. His vows ended with a positive tone as he stated: “And look at us now, surrounded by both of our families, on a location we could once only dream of, getting married to each other. Love wins”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The street in front of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo was closed to the public and vehicles by the local police, so our grooms could enter their wedding day on a horse, as an Indian tradition called Baraat. A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing. While it does not hold religious significance, it is an important custom nonetheless. News went in Lake Como that two princes were getting married and a lot of tourists stopped to see the show. The next day, walking down the streets of Bellagio, people there even asked if they were the Royals, seeing the Henna on their hands and the hands of their guests. [/field]

Magnificent Multicultural Celebrations At This Wedding Weekend On Lake Como

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding ceremony and reception had a lilac theme featuring the groom’s favorite flower -white gypsophila. And Lilac is the bride’s favorite color. The welcome dinner emphasized festive Asian vibes and so it featured hues of red, fuchsia and orange.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple wanted multicultural celebrations through out the two days and so they did. It started with a vintage-Italian-town inspired pre-wedding photoshoot in Bellagio. The couple rented a vintage Vespa original and visited the iconic steps of Bellagio, had gelato and toured the lake on a venetian boat at sunset.
The welcome dinner event featured an Asian theme with red, fuchsia and orange to honor the couple’s heritage. The couple wanted to transport the guests to a fictional early 20th century Chinese hotel. So they designed a pagoda adorned by bougainvillea as it’s the native flower of the couple’s hometowns. The pagoda also had Chinese lanterns hanging from above and double happiness signs. There’s also a side table decorated with Chinese traditional wedding candles and a tea set. Guests are encouraged to dress in their own cultural attires. The Asian night decor drew inspirations from Hong Kong movie “In the Mood for Love” and the latest Hollywood blockbuster film “Crazy Rich Asians.”
As for the wedding ceremony, the bride drew inspiration from the solarium scene from iconic movie “Sabrina” and wanted to feel on cloud nine. So the design emphasized cloud-shape floral designs. There was a custom pink couch with floral decoration as a bridal photo booth, there are full floral arches at the altar against the backdrop of the beautiful Lake Como. The bride adores hues of lilac, it’s also the bride’s mother’s favorite color, so the floral design featured various of flowers in lilac, dusty rose, white, and light green. It aimed to give a dreamy, romantic and timeless feeling.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The groom surprised the bride on her birthday last year with a helicopter ride to view their beloved New York City from up above. The groom wanted to have the helicopter stop by their apartment’s balcony where there would be flower arrangements forming a sign “Will You Marry Me.” But due to NYC air traffic rules that forbids personal use of east side air space, this idea is nixed. So instead, the couple just went on a helicopter ride on the west side, and as the bride returned home, she was so surprised to find there were beautiful pink and white floral arch, a flower cart, and many other floral arrangements on their patio. The TV was playing a thoughtfully-edited video of the couple’s many trips around the world over the years. She was confused and thought this birthday party was too extravagant! The groom took the bride to the patio and got on his knees. The rest is history! [/field]

The bride wore a custom Pnina Tornai wedding gown adorned with 3-D flowers, chantilly lace, corset and glitter details. The bride met the designer Pnina Tornai and said yes to the dress in Kleinfeld’s flagship store in New York last fall. “It’s my dream to purchase my wedding gown from the iconic place where I live. It means a lot.” The bride wore an heirloom diamond necklace purchased from the Sotheby’s for the ceremony. For the pre-wedding photoshoot, the bride enlisted the award winning New York based design house Dauphinette to create a one-of-a-kind bespoke dress. Designer Olivia Cheng’s work was collected by the Metropolitan Museum. For this gown, the bride wanted to incorporate her childhood memories and honor her late grandmother. The gown featured an original Dauphinette print, and is beaded with the bride’s late grandmother’s accessories. It also has a custom made pearl brooch as a tribute to the grandmother. On the Asian-themed welcome dinner night, the bride wore a traditional Chinese Qipao designed by herself and handmade by the tailor who has been making Qipao for the family for 20 years. To keep with the tradition, the bride wore 24K solid gold Phoenix & Dragon Necklace and matching bangles designed by Hong Kong based LukFood Jewellery.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids were encouraged to mix & match styles. The three of them chose floor length dresses from A.L.C., and ASOS. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groom wore a bespoke Brioni tuxedo for the wedding, and separately a gray Brunello Cucinelli suit for the pre-wedding photoshoot. The groom also wore a watch that was gifted to him by his Dad when he graduated from high school.

The wedding reception had a 1.5 hour cocktail reception, three-course Italian dinner, full open bar, a gelato cart, a traditional Italian wedding cake, and a champagne tower. The welcome dinner features live grill stations of seafood and sharable Italian entrees.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The bride wanted a dreamy feeling like walking on cloud nine, mixed with the feeling of a summer fragrant flower garden inspired by movie “Sabrina.” Floral designer Il Profumo Dei Fiori did a wonderful job bringing that to life. The ceremony space featured a loose “S” shape floral isle. Two floral arches with flowers in pastel colors of lilac, white, pink, and pale green are placed on top of a white platform, with cascading effect. The dinner reception featured a long table under the trees, two floral arches with chandeliers hanging over the newlyweds, hugging the head table from both sides. Embroidered napkins with the couple’s initials, candles and a runner of continuous floral arrangements were placed on the table.

[/field]

Making Baby’s Breath Look Sophisticated at This Black & White Affair

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Black and white
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Melissa wanted a classy, chic, sophisticated look, so she chose a black-and-white color theme with a modern vibe. She wanted to break away from a traditional Belgian wedding and opt for an elegant American look. Abundant white baby’s breath and white roses were used for decoration. Initially, she wanted to set a ‘black’ dress code, but she eventually abandoned this idea because she expected resistance from the guests. It was already daring to have the bridesmaids wear black, but that look suited them beautifully, and in the end, it all came together beautifully.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Melissa and Dion make a worldly couple. Due to Dion’s profession as a professional football player, they have lived in numerous places. Dion had planned a romantic marriage proposal at a sunny destination that year; they were set to go on vacation to Dubai during the Christmas period, which seemed like the perfect location for him to get down on one knee.

Unfortunately, during that period, the situation required everyone to provide a negative Covid test to travel. Unexpectedly and without any symptoms, Melissa tested positive, derailing their holiday plans.

Dion remained as calm as ever, so Melissa remained unaware of his plans. Eventually, the marriage proposal took place on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, during a heartfelt conversation. This was also the time when they had to move again due to Dion’s work. During that moment, in quarantine with their little son, Dion got down on one knee and asked Melissa the question she had always longed to hear.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]For her wedding gown, Melissa opted for an Elysee A-line design with an elegant, extended train. Her choice exuded a modern and refined aesthetic, devoid of lace, and uniquely customized with a daring high split in the front. She was adamant about having this split and spent the entire day with the tailor, ensuring it met her exact specifications. The result was a stunning, contemporary bride. Her Hollywood glam hair and makeup complemented her look, perfectly capturing the essence of chic elegance. For the evening festivities, she slipped into a short, glamorous dress by Nadine Merabi. This dress retained its elegance but added a touch of fun and ease for dancing the night away. Both ensembles were impeccably paired with exquisite footwear by Rene Caovilla, embracing full-on glamour.[/field]

A unique touch was the wall adorned with champagne glasses, each bearing customized name tags for every guest. This clever setup served as both a table chart and a delightful conversation starter. The pinnacle of the evening commenced with a magnificent champagne tower at the outset of the celebration, marking the beginning of an enjoyable night. As guests arrived at the ceremony, they were warmly welcomed with refreshing mocktails, which provided much-needed relief on a scorching day, given that the ceremony unfolded under the unrelenting sun. Adhering to the elegant black and white theme, the vibrant array of appetizers served during the reception added a delightful splash of color that illuminated the entire event.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]An abundant floral decor was chosen for the wedding. Maison Julie put in her best work again to create a black and white dream. In line with the black and white theme, all white flowers were chosen. Seas of baby’s breath accompanied the aisle with at the end an all baby’s breath floral arch. At the dinner tables also all white florals were used in combination with black table cards and blac chairs. The famous stairs in the hall of Hove van Herpelgem were adorned with white florals as well. The modern, elegant but simple look of the venue formed the perfect background basis for the decor of black and white chairs and detail, with a few golden touches. [/field]

Klaudia and Sammy’s enchanting wedding at Jasna Polana in Princeton, New Jersey, was a dreamy celebration that transported guests to a countryside in full bloom. The event seamlessly blended the charm of a cottage garden with the sophistication of a Provençal summer soiree. The theme was cottage garden meets provençal summer soiree. Delicate butterfly motifs graced the details, adding a touch of whimsy to the festivities.

Flower-Filled English Country Garden Wedding in the French Countryside

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

White, dusty blue and small elements of navy and taupe.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

A traditional English country garden with a French backdrop is the easiest way to sum up the aesthetic! We are very much a couple of classic tastes with a modern twist and hoped that would be completely reflected in their day. After deep diving for 15 months in endless Pinterest boards, wedding blogs, magazines and suppliers weddings, it was a very visual process, I took elements from lots and lots of different boards using them as a base for the day. I hoped for a timeless & elegant feel made up of white, dusty blue and small elements of navy and taupe, this was implemented through moments on the day in the form of flowers, suits, bridesmaids dresses and table ware. As this was the first wedding at Chez Lussaud it allowed for complete creativity, literally building the wedding from the ground up, we were able to choose every single detail from the style of cutlery through to the ceremony backdrop and everything else in between! I loved the visual part of this process, the wedding was something I could completely visualise from the very start and I was so invested in the detail. So during our planning meetings with Julia I was able to explain our vision down to the smallest detail which made the overall experience so much more cohesive! Aaron and I are absolutely detail people in all areas of our life so we felt it only fitting for it to run into the wedding. I loved the elevated feel of the monogrammed napkins, cocktail stirrers & stationery, the etched detailing in the glassware, the complimentary chargers…to name a few! Planning a wedding on a different continent is no mean feat! Knowing they would need a very organised helping hand we chose to work with Julia at Chatelaine Events. Julia was cool, calm and very collected from the very start. Keeping us on schedule & task throughout the 15 months of planning. Speaking fluent French was also a real help, the day was planned to singular precision, the absolute best suppliers for the day they hoped to create were recommended (and what an absolute dream team they were!). I had a very strong vision for the day, down to the finest detail, and Julia was amazing at helping bring that vision to life with the right suppliers. My parents relocated from the U.K. to France in 2018 following a dream to set up a small gite business. Many many memories as a family have been made together in the time they have lived in France, the grounds are stunning, the weather is glorious and so it seemed like a very natural fit. Natalie & Aaron had talked early on (even before being engaged) about how beautiful it would be to have their wedding at the family home. An opportunity they are extraordinarily grateful for. Chez Lussaud holds alot of sentiment, it’s such a special place, many moments are cherished from their time in France and it allowed them to build a completely bespoke wedding day, something we were very keen on doing!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We are Aaron & Natalie – we met 13 years ago in Wiltshire, originally from the West Midlands, U.K. we have been very nomadic over the years but are currently living in North Carolina in the USA, Aaron working in finance and Natalie a teacher! The proposal had been a long time coming! Aaron was biding his time and knew he wanted to make the proposal unforgettable. A long weekend planned by Aaron on the couples first visit to Washington DC, a beautiful few days in the beautiful Hay Adams overlooking The White House. Natalie understood they were visiting DC for a foodie/ cultural weekend just before Christmas 2021. DC being one of the cities in the US they wanted to tick off their bucket list. They hired bikes & toured the stunning architecture, perused the museums – Natalie spending a significant amount of time admiring every inch & angle of the Hope Diamond in the Harry Winston Gallery! That evening Aaron had arranged for a reservation in the stunning Lafayette at The Hay Adams followed by a private drive round the beautifully lit Washington monuments by night. Returning to the hotel Aaron had arranged for the most wonderful set up in their suite, Natalie’s favourite flowers, photos of their 13 years together & champagne…and of course, the beautiful ring. It was private, beautifully intimate and a memory that will be cherished forever Natalie – I was completely and utterly blown away the entire weekend, so much thought had gone into the proposal, which is Aaron all over, his attention to the finer detail is never missed and the whole weekend reflected just how well he knows me – it was wonderful

I wanted her mum, Meg and sister, Laura to be really involved in this process and living in the US, France and the U.K. knew this could be challenging to coordinate! So after shortlisting some styles & designers, I found a bridal boutique in Glasgow, Scotland (Anne Priscilla Bridal) that carried everything she thought she was after! (Simple, mikado & classic) After trying on the 5 dresses shortlisted…the “one” ended up being the dress I pulled as a “I’ll just try this one” it was still the full mikado skirt & train she had dreamt of having but the neckline carried a modern twist. Cocora by Pronovias was “the one” with alterations including a full button train, and a bespoke cathedral veil by Anne Priscilla in tulle. It was the most wonderful experience & Anne Priscilla were an absolute dream boutique, service was absolutely second to none and the experience will never ever be forgotten. I just LOVED my dress and the veil absolutely made the moment for me, that was when I knew it was the one for me, I cannot thank Anne Priscilla enough for how special they made me feel throughout the whole process.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I was after a tailored simple and “classic evening gown” look for the bridesmaids, and I knew I wanted to incorporate navy into the day, I had decided to wear navy shoes, and Aaron had a navy tux so it seemed only fitting the bridesmaids wore navy too! Having seen and worn Dessy before, I knew fairly early on the brand would be a good fit for what I was looking for. I had sourced a few dresses that I’d found on the website and spoken with a bridal store to make sure we could try them when I met with the bridesmaids! There were actually a few gowns that would have worked beautifully but In the end we went for a simple navy form fitting floor length gown with a slight train, higher neckline and cowl back, the girls and I picked the dress together. I’m all about that re wear so I wanted to make sure they all loved it enough to be able to have it reworked into a midi dress or worn again as is sometime in the future! They all looked so beautiful!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Both of us are huge foodies and so it was wonderful working with The Event Kitchen (wedding caterers) to create an amazing foodie experience for us & our guests that was perfectly “us”. We created signature cocktails, complete with edible flowers, and the canapés and four-course French wedding breakfast were carefully chosen to reflect our love of great food – all washed down with hand-selected local French wines of course – and the guests LOVED IT.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

THE FLOWERS! Where to even begin, Claire was just sensational! Going into this wedding planning, I knew flowers would likely be the area I would have to compromise the most, down to two reasons, keeping within budget and the weather. With France being SO warm, I was told time & time again that fresh flowers in the heat wouldn’t last the day and it was a risk. Something that played on my mind until I found Claire….Claire at Silk Flowers France is an artist, her work is so so STUNNING! I went to Claire with a complete vision, no holding back, and she told me that she could do everything, quite literally bring my Pinterest board to life! From a ceremony back drop, to a photo opp floral arch all the way through to the beautiful cake garden & floral mirror drape everything was complete perfection, my obsession with white roses and hydrangeas was there in an absolute abundance, we cannot thank Claire enough!

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Lucy at Invitation au délice was just FABULOUS! I knew from the start I was after a statement cake, we had talked about having the cake central in the marquee as the guests entered. Even though we were after a statement came we still wanted the over all look very simple, I knew that traditional cascade of flowers (although lovely) wasn’t for me, and with the cake garden being an option with our florist we decided to run with a 5 tiered simple structure, with a little detailing on tier 2 & 3 and in place of a cake topper, we had the our initial monogrammed by Lucy in a champagne gold on tier 3, which I just ABSOLUTELY LOVED. The cake was lovely, we opted for a vanilla sponge with different flavoured creams throughout the tiers including, lemon, coconut, blackberry, praline…the list goes on! it tasted beautiful! We also had a light blue Macrons made by Lucy to compliment the cake and they were AMAZING!!!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

We had a string quartet (Ensemble Obbligato) who played hand-selected music for the ceremony, and our closest friends and family did carefully selected readings that reflect us as a couple (Winnie the Pooh, Albert Einstein, etc.) which had a few in the crowd reaching for tissues We are also huge movie buffs, so had our string quartet include many of our favourite soundtracks, combining classic sounds with a modern twist.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Of course, the ceremony where we said “I do” is a particular favorite. Working with Alison (celebrant) to create a unique ceremony that was not religious but still full of love & celebration. Alison even came bearing a gift – a bottle of wine and a letter – something “to open” on our 5th anniversary as husband and wife – to look back on our first 5 years of marriage. What a beautiful surprise.

For Aaron, listening to the string quartet play the hand-selected ceremony music as he waits patiently at the bottom of the aisle for Natalie. Nervous excitement and knowing she would look absolutely beautiful.

Having the family pets (two golden retreivers) walk down the aisle as makeshift bride & groomsparty brought some entertainment to the ceremony!

Obviously for Aaron, watching Natalie walk down the aisle in her beautiful dress was a highlight but for me, being able to walk down the aisle with my father wearing his Number 1s (he is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the army) was truly special and something I had dreamt of since I was a little girl.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

For Natalie, it was every single detail – from the small stuff like monogrammed napkins and cocktail accessories, Negroni favors (Aaron’s favorite cocktail) and White Company candles (Nat’s obsession with candles) to the larger things – the bespoke built ceremony arrangement (flower train with chandeliers creating the perfect altar, courtesy of Claire from Silk Flowers France), the marquee interior design that just screamed Aaron & Natalie, the wedding stationery that was painstakingly created for hours! All those details being noticed throughout the day was just wonderful.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Our photographer and videographer! Our planner recommended Katy Lunsford to us and from the very beginning we were completely blown away with her work, it felt like her style absolutely suited the aesthetic I was trying to create. Katy’s work, passion and attention to detail is absolutely second to none, we had wonderful conversations leading up to the wedding, Katy really took the time to get to know us as a couple which made us completely trust the process, I feel like she absolutely understood every aspect of the type of day we hoped to be captured. A couple of months before the wedding Katy visited Chez Lussaud, and four hours later we were still talking all things aesthetic, golden hour and even a spot of rose tasting! It’s fair to say that by the time the wedding came round, we were genuinely great friends and we felt totally at ease. Both Katy & Mark (videographer – Award Weddings – recommended by Katy) were completely integral to our day and we were so so pleased to have them with us during our wedding breakfast, a small token to show how much they meant to us throughout the day. They were a fantastic team – both of them work so cohesively together, very calm, collected, engaging with the guests. They both used their sensational talents to capture the absolute essence of our day, we really cannot thank them enough. Aaron remembers fondly Mark helping with the buttonholes and bowties like an honorary member of the grooms party!

Fall Wedding at Addison Grove With Western Style

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

My inspiration was drawn from wanting to combine modern boho with a western/rustic style and design. With our wedding being at the beginning of fall, it was a perfect opportunity to use a beautiful fall color palette. We also wanted to incorporate a lot of personal details throughout the day to make it more special for us and for our guests. Some of these details were the cowhide branding during the ceremony with our personal brand, personalized thank you notes, postcard guest book, and much more!

My wedding gown was designed by Katy Corso and purchased from Blush Bridal Lounge in Austin,Texas. I fell in love with my gown because of its fit and uniquely textured fabric. It was a fitted gown with a sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder sleeves. I chose to pair a set of perl sleeves with the gown to make the whole look come together.

Bridesmaids were given a color palette (Champagne, gold, neutral tones in satin fabric) and from there they had the freedom to choose any style dress they felt the most beautiful in!

Our wedding’s florals were put together by the amazing Native Bloom, the onsite florist at the Addison Grove!! The florals are truly what brought my vision to life and helped to make our wedding as beautiful as it was. For my bouquet, I went for an organic, lush, floral-forward bouquet with lots of color. For the bridesmaid’s bouquets, we went for monochromatic arrangements so that each bridesmaid had their own unique bouquet and each was given out based on personality and what matched their dress the best! Overall, the florals helped bring our boho western vision together and brought so much color and life to the space while also complimenting the stunning Addison Grove venue.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”][/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

My favorite design element, besides the gorgeous florals, would have to be the cowhide seating chart. I had a vision for this seating chart for months and it was so great to work with my mom and husband to create such a beautiful focal point. Nate built the wooden arch for the cowhide to be hung on, I designed all the acrylic sheets in canva, and my mother (owner of the newly started business “Etch & Burn ATX”) etched out the designs with her laser etching machine.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

All of the wood signage (unplugged sign, bar sign, guest book sign, dessert menu, gift table sign), the seating chart, and name tags attached to the thank you cards were designed by the bride in canva and etched by her mother, owner of Etch and Burn ATX. The guest book was inspired by mine and Nate’s travels together so I created postcards from all the places we have been together for our guests to write a message on. For the favors, we gave away tic-tacs (a large part of our love story… Nate proposed with a box of tic tacs … and a ring!) and I (the Bride) designed and printed the labels, it was a group effort to put them all on the tic-tac boxes. I also hand wrote/drew all the table numbers and made the welcome mirror and “hello darling” mirrors with a cricut machine.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The thing that helped me the most when choosing design elements for our big day was sticking to a single color palette, theme, and design while also staying true to what Nate and I loved without focusing too much on being trendy. From the beginning, we knew we wanted a modern western flare throughout the day so incorporating those elements in small pieces throughout the space really helped bring everything together.

Exactly How to Change Your Last Name After You Say “I Do!”

What’s in a name? Apparently, a lot of legal documents and visits to the DMV. Thankfully it’s 2020 and there are some ways to make changing your last name a whole lot easier than it used to be.

Full confession, I’ve been married for almost seven years and have yet to change my name. I didn’t really choose to keep my last name, it’s just that every time I thought of changing it, the task seemed almost insurmountable. I’m a bridal designer and own my own company and the thought of changing all of that already tedious paperwork into my new last name was enough to get me to wear my maiden name just a little bit longer. I am also known professionally by my maiden name, it’s in all my branding. This is something that I know a lot of women struggle with. It’s hard enough to pave your way in this world as a woman and changing your name once you’ve achieved all of your career goals somehow seems wrong.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Maria Sundin Photography

My husband has always been totally supportive of whatever I want to do with my name, though I know that secretly it would make him happy to share the same last name as me. Truly, the only person preventing me from changing my name is me. When we found out that I was pregnant, I decided that it was now or never–I decided to finally change my last name so that I could share it with my daughter and my husband.

Just remember that your reasons for changing your name or not changing it are totally valid. Sometimes it takes time to make that decision. Also, remember that a name is symbolic. You would still be you with or without your name, so try not to stress too much about it.

Today we’re sharing all of our tips and tricks for taking the stress out of changing your last name. Please keep in mind, this is an article about how to change your name in the United States, and each state has its own rules and regulations, so make sure to research your specific state’s requirements before you dive in.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Tenth & Grace

The Easy Way

If the thought of trolling government websites for instructions and calling all of your banks makes you break out in hives, you may want to consider using a name-change concierge service. Sites like Newly Named take all of the think-work out of changing your name. You simply fill out a questionnaire that helps them compile the necessary documents for you to submit to the various institutions.

This process still requires you to fill out most of the necessary paperwork and deliver it to the right place, but they make sure you know exactly what to do, where to go, and in what order. As with every service, the convenience is going to cost you, but honestly not that much! Newly Named has two different packages. The basic (print at home) package is $39 and includes auto-filled applications, online document access, step-by-step instructions, and name change support. Their name-change kit is $99 and it includes pre-printed versions of the forms from the basic package as well as prepaid mailing envelopes.

I have friends who have used this service and swear by it. It is especially great for people with hectic work schedules because you don’t have time to compile all of the paperwork while balancing your nine-to-five.

The Not-So-Easy Way

Since I was doing all of the research anyway, I decided to do it the long way myself. Here’s what you need to know.

Step 1: Marriage License

The first thing you’ll need to do is get married, officially. To do this, you’ll need to go to the courthouse in the city where you are getting married to obtain your marriage license. Each state has different regulations, but in general, you should get this no less than 72 hours and no more than 30 days before your wedding to allow enough time for processing. I know what you’re thinking, “I spent so much time obsessing over my wedding date, and now it’s going to be on some random day instead.” Don’t worry, you’re not actually married until you and your fiancé(e) sign the license with your officiant, so your official wedding date will still stand.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Anna Marks Photography

Step 2: Social Security

Now that you’re officially married, you’ll need to change your last name with the Social Security Administration. You can do this in-person at your local Social Security office or by mail. Keep in mind you will have to provide very sensitive personal documents that are hard to replace. For this reason, I chose to bring my documents in person because I was too scared of losing them in the mail.

While the Social Security Administration does offer appointments, they, unfortunately, do not take appointments for name changes, so we would recommend getting there right when they open or at least avoiding the lunch hour rush.

To file the name change, you will need to bring with you the following documents:

  1. Original or Current Social Security Card
  2. Birth Certificate or other age identifying document (i.e. Passport or Final Adoption Decree)
  3. U.S. Driver’s License or (U.S. Passport, U.S. State-issued ID)
  4. If you were not born a U.S. citizen, you will need to provide a Consular Report of Birth, Certificate of Citizenship, or Certificate of Naturalization. You must also “provide a current unexpired document issued to you by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) showing your immigration status, such as Form I-551, I-94, or I-766. If you are an international student or exchange visitor, you may need to provide additional documents, such as Form I-20, DS-2019, or a letter authorizing employment from your school and employer (F-1) or sponsor (J-1).” – Social Security Administration
  5. Print and complete the name change application

According to the Social Security Administration, it takes about two weeks to process the name change documents and return them to you with the updated social security card.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Angelica Marie Photography

Step 3: Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

Wait at least 48 hours after filing your name change with the Social Security Administration before going to the DMV, this will ensure that your new name is in their system. All name changes must be filed in-person at the DMV. Thankfully, they will make an appointment for a name change, so make sure to schedule one to avoid those lines that wrap around the block.

At the DMV, you will need to change your name on your driver’s license, your voter registration card, and your vehicle title and registration. You will likely have to fill out a separate application to update your title and registration, which may require a separate visit to the DMV or can possibly be submitted online or via mail.

Each state has different requirements for each of the categories, so please be sure to research the necessary and accepted forms of documentation for your state.

Here are some of the documents that you will likely need to bring with you to the DMV to file your name change:

  1. Current driver’s license
  2. Primary ID which can be any of the following: U.S. Birth Certificate, valid U.S. passport or passport card, consular report of birth abroad, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship
  3. Marriage License
  4. Proof of Social Security which can be any of the following: Social Security card (with your new last name), W-2 form (not handwritten), paycheck/stub, SSA-1099 or any 1099 (not handwritten)
  5. Two items for proof of residential address which can be any of the following: Deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet or residential rental/lease agreement, voter registration card, vehicle registration or title, utility bill, medical or health card with address listed, current homeowner insurance policy or bill, current automobile insurance policy or bill, W-2 form or 1099 form, Form DS2019, Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) status, mail from financial institutions including checking, savings or investment account statements, mail from federal, state, county or city government agencies

Keep in mind, if you decided to file with the Social Security Administration by mail, you may need to wait for some of these documents to be mailed back to you before scheduling your appointment with the DMV.

Step 4: Passport

Your passport is likely the last form of ID that you’ll need to change and thankfully, it can all be done by mail! It usually takes 8 weeks to process a name change on a passport, though you can pay to have it expedited, which takes 2-3 weeks. If you plan on traveling abroad shortly after your wedding, we recommend waiting to start the name change process until after you return from your travels, this way you don’t run into any unnecessary hiccups in customs.

There are two different filing procedures for changing your name on your passport, one if you are filing the change less than one year after your passport was issued, and one if you are filing the change more than one year after your passport was issued. Here is what is required for both:

Filing Name Change Less Than ONE Year After Passport Was Issued

“Please submit the following by mail:

  • Form DS-5504
  • Your most recent U.S. passport
  • Your original or certified name change document, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order
  • One color passport photo

Please note: You will not have to submit any fees unless you request Expedited Service. You must send Form DS-5504 and supporting documents via USPS. UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other companies cannot deliver to the PO Box addresses listed on Form DS-5504.” – Travel.State.Gov

Step 5: All Other Accounts and Documentation

You’re almost done, I swear! Now that all of your IDs have been updated, it’s time to update your other accounts and documentation. Because everyone’s accounts are different, your list of what needs to be updated will be different than mine, but in general, here are some of the accounts you will want to update.

  1. Bank Accounts (Checking and Savings)
  2. Investment Accounts
  3. Loans
  4. Leases, Mortgages
  5. Credit Card Accounts
  6. Insurance
  7. Will
  8. Loyalty Accounts

Each company/organization will have different requirements for documentation that you will need to submit your name change, but by now, you should have everything you need (and more!). Thankfully, most can be done online or over the phone.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Jessica Blex Photography & Design

Step 6: Optional Updates

Now that you’ve updated all of the necessary items, you may want to consider updating some of your other, less important but more visible accounts like your social media pages or your e-mail address. These are totally optional and there is no harm in keeping your old name. If you do decide to change your e-mail address, just make sure to forward the e-mails from your old address so you don’t miss anything important. You may also want to send out an e-mail to your contacts letting them know that your e-mail address has changed.

Additionally, if you’ve decided to change your name in your professional life, you’ll want to have new business cards printed and update your website or company bio with your new name.

Well, that was a process! But, if you’ve been determined to change your name, it will be well worth it in the long run. If you read this and decided to forgo the name change, don’t sweat it–it’s 2020, you do you!

A Pacific Northwest Wedding With Coastal Elegance at The Admiral’s House

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Shades of french blue, navy, and white.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The bride named her vision Coastal Elegance – an organic Pacific Northwest feel with an elevated New England aesthetic. She wanted to highlight the colors of the PNW coastline from their historic venue overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound. The couple feels most at peace near or on the water, both growing up on the West Coast, so the wedding colors were inspired by the cool and airy tones you experience while at sea. The venue offered ties to both families of the bride and groom with a view of the ferries crossing between the city and Bainbridge Island (the groom’s hometown) and sitting just above Elliott Bay marina, where the bride’s family spent many weekend trips on their boat. Lastly, the couple worked so hard to match in Seattle for their residencies together and have been thrilled to make Seattle their ultimate home. With so many family and friends traveling to celebrate in their city, the bride and groom felt there was nothing more picturesque and iconic than the venue’s ocean view looking back over the city skyline, the Space Needle, and Mount Rainier in the hazy distance. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Connor and Hannah met the first week of medical school at the University of Colorado. During their first conversation, Connor mentioned that he liked to fire up pizzas on his pizza stone, which immediately made sparks fly for Hannah. For the next couple of weeks, Hannah tried to get the attention of Connor at a Rockies game and over beers at the local breweries. It wasn’t until they stood in line to get their flu shots that Connor finally mustered up the courage to invite Hannah over to study and the rest was history. Connor proposed to Hannah on his birthday, the day before they graduated from medical school. All he wanted for his birthday was to hike their favorite local trail before closing their chapter in Denver. Along the entire hike, they reminisced in chronological order about their medical school memories and life in Denver together. With perfect timing upon reaching the top of the hike, Connor said “I think my favorite Denver memory will be the day I asked you to marry me” and he got down on one knee! After the hike, their families, in town for graduation weekend, were waiting to celebrate all of their exciting milestones at their favorite brewery. [/field]

The Bride’s Alyssa Kristin gown was called the Katherine – a fitted silhouette, stretch crepe, boatneck gown with rounded v-back, button accents, and long dramatic train. The side features nude mesh v-cutouts for a peek of skin without losing any support. The dress was made in Chicago and selected from A&Be Bridal Shop in Ballard, Seattle. The elegant gown was accented with pearl jewelry and a pearl-studded veil. The bride changed into a fun and flirty mini dress by Zimmermann paired with white Rothy’s shoes, so she could really boogie on the dancefloor!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Lisa Dupar Catering is the creme de la creme of Seattle fine catering! The bride’s father is a total foodie, so his job was to find the best caterer and he most definitely did! Cocktail hour offered small-bite appetizers including mint-compressed watermelon cubes, jicama ahi tacos, deep fried Barbacoa tacos, and Dungeness crab cakes. The bar offered specialty drinks named after the couples’ pups, Winnie & River. The Winnie (peloton de la muerte mezcal, cilantro, jalapeño, grapefruit bitters, lime) was designed with inspiration from Hannah’s favorite spicy mezcal margarita. The River was a classic old-fashioned for the groom: Jameson, orange, cherry, and a dash of bitters. Dinner started with a roasted peach and burrata salad served with marcona almonds over torn radicchio. Guests selected from grilled wild local salmon, seared beef tenderloin, and grilled eggplant involtini for their plated entree meal. Late Night Wood-Fired Pizza: The couples greatest love in life besides their dogs and each other is hot cheese (their term for pizza)! From their very first conversation about Connor’s pizza stone and first study date over take-out pizza to hosting countless pizza nights with medical school friends, they say their love story was founded over their shared obsession with hot cheese. They even spent an entire year counting the number of pizza slices they had eaten together! When they heard Lisa Dupar had a wood-fired pizza oven, they knew this had to be their late night snack. Lisa Dupar and company outdid themselves and will go down as the best hot cheese they have ever had.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Kaleb Norman James Design was the floral artist and designer for this wedding and he did not disappoint. The bride wanted lots of blues scattered throughout beds of white florals to bring her coastal chic theme to life. The bride and groom, both lovers of nature and the outdoors, wanted the ceremony to have an organic and intimate feel. They selected beautiful large wooden benches for seating and a winding isle lined with florals, both unique selections to the The Admiral’s House. Full hydrangeas helped to shape the bar and fill the floral arrangements lining the ceremony aisle for an elevated look. Her bouquet was dainty and whimsical, fitting her personality and dress so perfectly! Paper goods were designed by Etiquette Design, a luxury event stationary company based in San Francisco that prides themselves on refined and sophisticated prints. The menus with french blue letterpress, ribbon tie, and the couple’s monogram accented the elegant invitations received by their guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Lisa Dupar Catering created a beautiful three-tiered vanilla sponge cake with Pacific Northwest berries and white chocolate buttercream. Sugar flowers decorated the cake to accent the florals of the ceremony. The cake stand was placed on a blue seersucker linen from BBJ Linen | La Tavola Linen, which offered an adorable coastal touch. A late night desert bar also included mini espresso panna cotta, strawberry rhubarb tartlets, mini creme-filled ginger molasses cookies, and chocolate dipped nutter butters all handmade by the incredible pastry team of Lisa Dupar.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

A Seattle/Vancouver-based band, Side One, played acoustic guitar for the ceremony, jazz for the cocktail hour, and the perfect blend of oldies, rock, and pop for a dancefloor that was absolutely on fire all night long!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]It was so important to the couple to include their pups, Winnie and River, in their day! Winnie and River came to Discovery Park to join Hannah and Connor in their first look. They were glowing when their dogs arrived! In addition to the groomsmen, two friends played the role of esteemed escorts of Winnie and River, who brought them to the ceremony and walked them down the aisle to give the groom some love before he was joined by his bride. Specialty drinks were named in their honor as well. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Unforgettable moments with their most important people including the bride’s emotional first look with her dad in The Admiral’s House sun room, the bride’s cousin starting dinner with a prayer in honor of his father who recently passed, the officiant being one of the couple’s best friends from medical school and residency, the presence of all of the bride’s grandparents, and a photo memorial to honor family who are no longer with us. The day wouldn’t have been what it was without the couple’s loved ones who mean so much to them and played special roles in their day.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The wood fired pizza was more important to them than their cake! These two are major pizza lovers! See info in food section and the melted goodness of the best hot cheese in the photos. [/field]

The First Kiss On A Ferris Wheel Inspired this Whimsical Meets Glam Estate Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]My vision for our wedding was whimsical meets modern glam. I also wanted to make sure the styles we chose were memorable and timeless. We decided to go with a softer color palette for a more romantic summer vibe and chose sage green, blush, ivory, and gold for our wedding colors.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]When I think about our wedding day, my heart is so full. I envisioned a summer evening of pure bliss, celebrating with our family and friends in a large estate that had everything we needed in one location. We wanted our ceremony to be heartfelt and intimate, our cocktail hour to be jazzy and soulful, and the reception to be a party! At the end of the night, we wanted our guests to leave smiling and full of joy, saying, “We wish we could do it all over again.”[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]My husband and I had our first kiss on the Great Wheel in Seattle, WA. So it was meaningful to us to incorporate that in some way on our wedding day, and our wedding planners made it happen! We had a custom gold Ferris wheel made paired with walls for guest escort cards on each side labeled, Come take a ride with us. Each escort card had a fun fact about our first kiss on the back.[/field]

Vestals Catering did an incredible job with dinner. Dinner began with their signature seasonal salad with mixed greens, berries, and feta drizzled with Texas honey dressing. The main course was their choice of citrus grilled chicken or herb-crusted bistro fillet. Seasoned vegetables and roasted potatoes with fresh baguettes finished off the meal.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our florist, Wedfully Yours, created beautiful floral arrangements that included mixtures of white/cream floral types, greenery, textures, and touches of blush to create organic shape and interest. The chapel had several large floral installations that pointed everyone’s attention to the altar. The reception space had flowers dripping off of the sweetheart and cake table. Each guest table had a mixture of flowers and candles to create an elegant atmosphere but didn’t obstruct their view of one another during the reception.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Our cake, made by Butterfly Cakery, was simply amazing. We had a 4 tier cake with Snickerdoodle and white mouse cake for the top 3 tiers and chocolate with chocolate mousse cake for the bottom tier. Custom decor details included smooth classic buttercream base coverage, fondant elements, petals, florals, stemmed sugar, and wafer paper florals with the cake wrapped in white tulle wrap.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Nick and I each spoke our vows to each other. We both shed tears during the ceremony because we were so filled with love and gratitude to have found one another. That moment of standing before all of our family and friends, sharing what our love meant, of making promises to continue to support and believe in one another, meant everything.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]I loved everything about our wedding day, but my favorite part of the wedding was dancing with our family and friends and seeing them have the best time on the dance floor! We swagged and surfed until we couldn’t anymore, and it was so much fun![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]On the wedding day, pause, slow down, and take in everything. The day really does fly by, and it’s important to cherish and enjoy every moment and not stress about the little things. You want to be able to look back on your wedding day and know it was everything you’ve dreamed you wanted it to be.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

There were so many beautiful details that it’s so hard to choose. We got married at The Hillside Estate and the venue in and of itself is beautiful! We absolutely loved the design of our reception. From the sage green round monogrammed dance floor to our lush sweetheart table, our stunning wedding cake, and our incredible tabletop designs. All were designed and planned perfectly by our wedding planning team, Gathered Events.

How to Properly Infuse Softness and Fine Artistry to a Modern Venue

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Erato from 5th Muse Wedding Planning Agency says “The beauty of design truly shines when we artfully blend two seemingly disparate elements, weaving them into a tapestry of harmony and coherence. Our recent Wedding Styling Bridgerton-inspired photoshoot was a testament to this concept, as we sought to infuse an aura of softness and fine artistry into a thoroughly modern and upscale venue. The vibrant bloom of spring flowers strikingly contrasted the nature’s backdrop, giving life to an open garden celebration.”

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The enchanting color palette we chose for this grand affair was a delicate fusion of soft light blue, radiant yellow, and pristine white. These colors, reminiscent of the early 19th century, gracefully adorned every aspect of our event, from the sumptuous floral arrangements to the exquisite table settings. The soft light blue whispered of courtly sophistication, while the yellow added a touch of sunlit vibrancy, and the white exuded purity and grace. Together, these hues created an atmosphere of timeless beauty, evoking the charm and opulence of the Bridgerton era, making this photoshoot a breathtaking journey into the past.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

Golf Prive Glyfada is an iconic wedding venue in Greece. The lush gardens of Golf Prive Glyfada, are surrounded by the embrace of nature’s beauty. This idyllic setting adds an extra layer of enchantment to your special day. Under the open sky, amid blossoming flowers and lush greenery, your love story will truly come to life.

The wedding gown stole our hearts that moment we laid our eyes on its amazing fabric. Made Bride by Antonea created a masterpiece as all gowns in her collection. Every year, she remains loyal to the characteristics that made brides love her gowns: the insistence on detail and the handcrafted decorative elements that are placed by hand piece by piece. Our bride looked like an angel… She was the epitome of grace and elegance, covered with the glow of wedding haute couture. Of course, the magic touch of Ioanna Karkantelou for the bride’s hair and makeup added a divine wedding look. The groom’s tailormade suit made him look as if he popped out of the Bridgerton series. The light blue tulle dress we carefully selected for the celebrant was a true standout, showcasing a level of uniqueness that was nothing short of enchanting. Its ethereal layers of tulle exuded a sense of timeless elegance that effortlessly harmonized with the romantic ambiance of our Bridgerton era inspiration.

Under the artistry of Erato Flessa from 5th Muse Wedding Planning Agency, the magic of spring seemed to descend from above, draping the wedding table and ceremony space in spring florals. Our journey began with a single, exquisite floral dinner plate, its foliage and blossoms inspiring the graceful descent of flowers from the luxurious handmade candles on our dinner table. We carefully infused our design with a touch of elegance through an artistic floral pattern, which found its place in various elements: the table setting, the ceremony backdrop, and the delicate wedding stationery. Our floral arrangement took inspiration from the captivating anemones and roses that played a starring role throughout our wedding design. We celebrated this timeless flower’s resurgence by showcasing its white petals and soft yellow hues, paired with other soft and romantic textures, we created a captivating contrast that resonated throughout the entire design. Our expansive 10-person table stood as a centerpiece of grandeur in the open veranda. It served as a canvas for a garden that appeared to grow from its very heart, reaching upward toward the entire backyard. Each detail on the table was thoughtfully selected, from the fine china to the vines gracefully descending towards the dinner crystals, maintaining an air of elegance.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]

Within our treasure trove of design elements, two shine with a distinct radiance. First, the cake, a masterful creation by Cake it Easy, captured the essence of our bridal aesthetics. Finding the perfect wedding cake for your big day is a challenging task for all brides-to-be in the world. This whimsical flower-adorned wedding cake is the masterpiece we were dreaming of. Secondly, our invitation suite, thoughtfully designed by 5th Muse, epitomizes modern elegance through carefully selected design choices. These include sophisticated typography, delicate handmade paper in soft hues, a venue illustration, and a custom envelope. Each element was chosen with care to seamlessly blend with the overall decor and presentation of the wedding day. These ethereal handpainted and handcrafted wedding invitations would match almost any wedding style and color palette giving an extra drop of the Bridgerton era.

[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

If the idea of a second look has crossed your mind, why not consider a choice that resonates with your initial attire on a more personal level? Choose something that could easily paired with your first wedding gown. One tip: trust your Wedding Planner and plan ahead for your second look.

This Ethereal Garden Soiree Blended Persian Cultural Elements, Thoughtful Details, and Southern California Charm

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette was blush, petal, sage, sand, white.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We wanted our wedding day to encompass our 10 years of love, include aspects of my Persian culture, have thoughtful details, and, most importantly, allow us to be surrounded by those who share a love for us and our families. The theme for the wedding was an elegant, ethereal garden soiree, and we envisioned a peaceful day that transformed into an epic party at night. When we began wedding planning, we both knew we wanted to find a venue in Southern California, as it is where we both grew up and it would be close to many of our family and friends. With the beautiful Southern California weather we knew we wanted our ceremony and reception outdoors if possible. We toured Saddlerock Ranch, which is located in the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu, and fell in love with the views that surrounded the venue space. With the rolling hills of vineyards, the infamous “Saddlerock” in the distance, and the serene lawns that spanned the venue, it was the perfect backdrop.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Nick and I share a love for traveling and he enjoys doing most of the planning for our trips, researching the best places to eat, see, and stay. In 2021 we decided to plan a trip to Anguilla, as many countries were starting to open back up after COVID. Nick planned the trip as he usually does, so it definitely made it easier to hide his proposal plans from me. Nick found a beautiful boutique hotel, The Malliouhana Resort, which sits on a little cliff off Meads Bay. One of the evenings as we were on our way to dinner, walking along the beach of Meads Bay to the restaurant (which was just a ploy to get us onto the beach), Nick stopped me and got down on one knee. He had a whole speech prepared and it was such a special moment that was also a blur for the both of us. He had a photographer hidden and then after the proposal surprised me with a private dinner on the cliff at the resort. The proposal, trip, and island were a dream and one we continue to reminisce on. [/field]

While looking for a wedding dress, I gravitated towards A-line gowns and always loved Monique Lhuillier‘s romantic designs. Then I saw a gown in her Spring 2023 collection, and immediately fell in love. When a collection first comes out, it usually takes several months before the dresses arrive are in flagship stores. As I patiently waited for my dress to come to a store near me, it started nearing the deadline for ordering. So I called the Orange County flagship store and they were able to ship in the model dress for me to try on. My dress was the last dress I tried on, and I knew immediately that it was the one. I loved the sweetheart neckline, corset bodice, A-line gown, and all the intricate floral lace and beading appliqué. To give dramatic, but clean lines, I paired the dress with a cathedral-length veil made by my seamstress, and the look was complete.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Lila and Nick selected Harvest Kitchen to cater their wedding, drawn to their dedication for using the freshest, in-season ingredients to craft dishes bursting with flavor. The hors d’oeuvres had an assortment of unique treats, including chicken and waffle cones, and refreshing melon ceviche. To add an element of sophistication, Lila curated custom hand towels from Etsy, which the servers gracefully draped over their arms as they served guests during cocktail hour. The signature cocktail selection was crafted to embody the essence of summer, each drink infused with Lila and Nick’s favorite ingredients. They chose a timeless Old Fashioned for “His,” a delicate vodka Lavender Lemon libation for “Hers,” and a spicy Margarita for “Ours,” which added a spirited touch to the mix. The signature cocktail menus were displayed on an elegant, cascading linen that draped over the bar. At Persian weddings, Persian sweet and tea are a must! In a nod to Persian tradition, Lila and Nick included a dessert table adorned with an array of bite-sized pastries, all skillfully prepared by Lila’s family’s favorite local Persian bakery, Asal Bakery in Irvine. It was a sweet tribute to Lila’s Persian heritage and a delightful treat for guests.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]My mom and I love florals! Gardening is one of her biggest passions, and she is nicknamed “gol” by her Persian friends, which means flower. Needless to say, the flowers were important to us. We already had a beautiful backdrop for the wedding with the venue but to bring our ethereal garden vision to life, we chose to go with meadow-like florals. I wanted soft shades of peach and blush with hints of white, and lush greenery added a clean look with dimension and texture.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We opted for a smaller 2 tier cake with sugar flowers and fondant to give the cake a clean look while also helping it stay intact with the summer heat. The cake stand was a special gift from one of my best friends who had the stand handmade in Turkey, and the engraved serving knife set was gifted to us by my sister at my bridal shower. There were so many personal and thoughtful items incorporated throughout the wedding day, which made the day all that much more special. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Nick’s brother, Jake, sang and played the guitar and harmonica for our first dance. We chose the song Harvest Moon, and it was so special to have him perform it while we danced. We kept it a surprise from our guests and our families did not know he would be performing either. It was so important to us to have an energetic and fun dance party, so we had our DJ accompanied by a percussionist and a violinist, and our reception came alive with an energy that was palpable. The dance floor was filled and we did not stop.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Instead of hiring a vendor to design and set up a Persian Sofreh Aghd, I chose to design it myself and had my good friends set it up the day of the wedding. Each piece of the Sofreh I curated from different places; some pieces were from Iran gifted by relatives, some were made by an Iranian woman I met through Etsy, and some I found in antique shops or borrowed from my mother’s collection. The Persian Sofreh Aghd is a cultural wedding tradition that has been around for over 2500 years, and it was important to me to have this incorporated into our wedding. By blending the Persian Sofreh Aghd with a traditional American ceremony, we celebrated not only our union but also the rich tapestry of our diverse cultural heritages.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]For the reception space we wanted to make that a classy dinner under the massive oak grove trees that would then become an ultimate party space after dinner. We chose French inspired cutlery and plates with scrolls on the champagne glasses as the meal and seat assignments. At this venue you must provide the power and most of the lighting. So we had a structure built over the dance floor with chandeliers and string lights coming off of the structure over the dinner tables. We had risers for the DJ and musicians so that it would be a stage. The DJ brought a CO2 cannon and cold sparks which really made for an epic party. It was beyond what we had hoped for dancing with our loved ones who brought so much love and energy with them. We are truly so lucky to have these friends and family in our lives.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]In the early stages of wedding planning, long before I had chosen my wedding dress or any other wedding details, I stumbled upon a beautiful lace cloth adorned with butterflies. Butterflies have always held a profound significance for my mother and me, and I felt an instant connection to the fabric. My seamstress cut and sewed some of the butterflies onto my flower girl’s dress and we wrapped some of the lace around my bouquet. It was a meaning tribute to the connection my mother and I share, woven into the very fabric of our wedding day.[/field]

Timeless Elegance at a Private Estate in Paradise

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, peach, pink, blush, green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Alle and Stewart wanted to create a sense of timeless romance, combined with the gorgeous backdrop of Maui, Hawaii.
The couple wanted an elegant and classy feel, with lots of white florals and hues of peach and blush. They envisioned thousands of fairy lights after sunset to create a magical glow over the whole venue with everyone dancing the night away to provide an experience that would be etched in the memories of all their friends and family. This vision was perfectly executed by the amazing team at Opihi Love Wedding Planning and Design.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After moving to Singapore at the beginning of the Covid lockdowns, Stewart started planning his proposal to Alle. From designing her Engagement Ring, to surprising her with a staycation for their anniversary at Singapore’s famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel, it was then he proposed on the Skydeck overlooking the bright lights of the Singapore city skyline. Everything had been coordinated with the hotel in fine detail, to the point of Alle getting suspicious because Stewart was almost too organised for someone who is “flexible” with time. While he was getting down on one knee proposing, their two best friends were down in the hotel suite decorating the room with hundreds of balloons, flowers and champagne so the celebrations could begin! It was the most magical weekend the two could have asked for.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Alle wore the beautiful “Livia” gown by an Australian designer, Le Lee studio, through the amazing Eternal Bridal in Sydney Australia, with a lovely V-shape neckline and exquisite handwork of 3D embroidery flowers throughout the gown. She wanted something romantic & elegant, with a touch of drama through the gorgeous long train and an even longer veil. This was not the style of dress Alle thought she would have gone for (or later found out Stewart thought she would go for), but it was the second dress she ever tried on, and one she couldn’t stop thinking about and going back to! [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Alle’s Maid of Honor was dressed in a beautiful dusty pink satin Shona Joy dress and the two Bridesmen, her cousin and brother, wore custom navy suits from Australia with a dusty pink pocket square.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Stewart is extremely proud to be Scottish and in keeping to tradition for a Scottish wedding, Stewart alongside his father and his two best men, donned Highland Skye Kilts with traditional waistcoat, jacket and dusty pink crava. Stewart’s Arrochar blue Crail waistcoat and jacket was custom made, as was his white rabbit fur sporran which he also had engraved with a special message for Alle to remember their special day. Stewart gifted the Father of the Bride a matching tartan tie to wear with his custom navy suit.[/field]

[board_carousel title=”Cocktail Hour”]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The menu was created in close collaboration between Cutting Edge Catering and the couple. Since Alle is Italian, she really wanted to make sure the menu was a perfect balance between embracing the food of Hawaii with an Italian influence.

For appetisers during cocktail hour, they served Charcuterie cups, Mochiko chicken with unagi glaze, Bufala mozzarella, tomato, watermelon, and basil skewers and Hawaiian ahi poke on a puffed rice crisp.
The starter course was a hearty (Italian-sized) portion of Prosciutto and pecorino risotto with gremolata and black garlic.

Mains were a choice of Beef Ribeye, potato au gratin, bone marrow bordelaise and asparagus “Béarnaise”, Hawaiian Catch with spiced Asian pears, sake kaffir butter and Molokai potato puree or Roasted Cauliflower steak, rosemary Tuscan potatoes and pistachio date pesto.

After some cocktails and dancing, guests were served a late-night snack of Pork tacos on corn tortillas!
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We worked with Bella Bloom Floral Boutique and had an absolutely stunning orchid bouquet with the most gorgeous white orchids that were flowing as she walked down the aisle.

Alle and Stewart had a tough time deciding on florals for the tables because the backdrop of the beach with the palm trees by itself is so stunning, but they knew they wanted lots of white flowers for the ceremony arch and white rose petals coming down the aisle.

Alle wanted the decor to feel romantic, elegant and whimsical – but since Stewart has the better eye for design, he helped select the gold cutlery, white plates, classic clear glasses and round tables to meet Alle’s vision board. Thousands of fairy lights were strung over the dancefloor with an amazing curved bar overlooking the waves. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a multi-tiered vanilla sponge with buttercream and pink and blush real flowers as decoration.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Stewart chose to walk down the aisle to John Legend’s “All of Me”, and Alle walked down the aisle to Hayley Reinhart’s version of “I Can’t help falling in Love”, which she managed to keep a secret from Stewart until the ceremony.

Seeing Alle walk down the aisle brought Stewart to tears (as she hoped). The ceremony was performed by one of their closest friends, who officiated the most personal and beautiful service that brought tears of happiness and laughter to many in attendance.

Alle and Stewart’s first dance was to “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, and even though they hadn’t practised nearly enough, they still managed to time their dips with the cold sparks in the background, which made for a perfect photo opp.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Leo was their adorable Bichon Frise puppy in Singapore but unfortunately passed away in a tragic accident after his 1st birthday. He was the love of both their lives and meant so much to them, so he had to be remembered as part of the day through the beautiful bar signage with his picture and an ice stamp created using his paw print for each individual ice cube for the signature cocktails. Aloha Bars flawlessly delivered on all the personal touches they asked for throughout the day.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Stewart has always been a Porsche fan, so when he had the opportunity to have a vintage Classic Ivory 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster as a backdrop at the wedding, it was a no-brainer! The car perfectly matched the vintage look and feel of many parts of the venue and complemented the classic elegance of many other wedding details and was a big hit with guests “for the gram”!
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Stewart loves to create cocktails at home, so it was important for the couple to design custom cocktails for guests to enjoy at the reception.

One of Stewart’s favourite cocktails is a Margarita which they named “Feelin’ Salty” (in a nod to the beach setting), and Alle wanted something refreshing, so she created a “Strawberry Fizz” named ” Isn’t she Bubbly” since her father-daughter dance was to Stevie’s Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely”.

Aloha Bars went above and beyond to make the cocktails memorable for their guests with surprises such as a smoke bubble on the cocktails to create an extra wow factor.

Another of Stewart’s favourite cocktails is an Espresso Martini, which were passed around after dinner to get the dancing started!

A Dreamy Chateau Wedding in Provence: Where Elegance Meets Timeless Romance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]This magical day set at a sun-kissed chateau nestled in the heart of Provence, France, radiated with timeless beauty and luxe European charm. Our primary inspiration was the hues of the venue itself with an added pop of colour featuring some soft pink and yellow tones to enhance to overall palette, creating a visually captivating celebration. This stunning destination wedding was curated where high fashion and lush floral designs merged effortlessly, culminating in a vintage car exit moment nothing short of cinematic.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Provence, the wedding’s color palette revolves around shades of yellow, green, and pink. Soft pastel tones of lemon yellow and blush blend seamlessly with fresh, verdant greens, evoking the lush countryside and gardens that envelop the chateau. This palette sets the tone for a celebration that is both vibrant and harmoniously soothing.

[field title=”The Venue”]Nestled amidst the stunning Provencal landscape, the chateau is a sight to behold. Its neautral-colored facade exudes warmth and history, while the mint toned shutters add a refreshing touch of contemporary charm. The combination of old-world architecture and modern accents creates a unique atmosphere that sets the tone for an enchanting celebration. The warm sun and gentle breeze provided the perfect atmosphere for an outdoor celebration that feels straight out of a fairytale.[/field]
