From the Bride…Jason became a “hero” to me even before we officially met.  While at a college hangout at the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, TN, Jason noticed my unease with unwanted attention of an older patron.  Although we had never met before, Jason immediately walked up and hugged me, saying  ” I have not seen you in forever!” Situation solved. I loved his modern day chivalry. We began dating that night and now we are married!

We fell in love with Cedarwood on our first visit to the property, there was snow on the ground but we could visualize how spectacular it would look in July! It had the perfect casual elegant setting that we were looking for in Nashville. The inspiration for my wedding style was southern elegance. I found my bridesmaids dresses before I found my dress, so once I found my dress I was able to decide on a color theme for the wedding. I decided on classic light colors like blush pink, gray, and fawn, because I felt like they would compliment each other the best. Also, I knew that our flower arrangements would be stunning and I didn’t want to take away from their beauty.

We were married at First Lutheran Church in downtown Nashville where Jason and I were the 5th generation in his family to be married there dating back to the early 1900’s.  I wore my grandmother’s broach on my wedding bouquet, and also I wore my grandmother’s pink wedding dress when I left the reception. It is 55 years old and still fabulous! We decided to keep our honeymoon a secret from everyone, so at our reception we announced that we were going to Hawaii and Disney World to our family and friends.

It is true what they say, it is all a blur at the end of the day! I loved our wedding ceremony, it was flawless and incredibly romantic. The moment the trumpets started and I started walking down the aisle, I just knew it was going to be a perfect day and I was marrying my prince charming! I remember the moment I received my bouquet, it was exactly what I had wanted. It was the perfect touch to my wedding ensemble. Jason and I have a basset hound named Humphrey, and we decided to have him in some of our photos at the beginning of the day! He is our baby, so that was special to us.

Jason and I decided to have our grandmothers, Joan Cullum and Yvonne Barber, make our wedding favors! My grandmother’s specialty is peanut brittle and Jason’s grandmother’s is pickles, so for a month before the wedding they were making these delicious treats. We put them in mason jars, they were just adorable.

From the Bride…Jared and I met our freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill. We were on the swim team together for four years and after college we moved out to California. All of our friends and family are back east so we did long distance planning (lots of time on my Mac with a glass of wine in hand). We knew it would be a good time no matter what because our friends and family are so much fun.

Hillsboro Wedding from Luxe Event Productions + Evrim Icoz + Vibrant Table

We’re featuring a few weddings at Oregon vineyards on the LBB this month, and in case you couldn’t tell – I’m obsessed. This one, sent to us by the fabulous designers at Luxe Event Productions, was captured by Evrim Icoz Photography, and is stunning. Beyond stunning. Vibrant Table Catering and Events outdid themselves with the floral design, and what seems to be a delish looking menu from what I can tell. After this week, Oregon has definitely gained some speed in my travel bucket list, and while I’m there – I’m really hoping to be lucky enough to take in a vineyard wedding half as special as this one. Mosey on over to the gallery, and you’ll see why!

And if you’re in the mood for even more pretty, we have the film from Focal Point Media for your viewing pleasure…

Ashley & Mason (Excerpts) from Focal Point Digital Media on Vimeo.

From Luxe Event Productions … Ashley and Mason had a very elegant Oregon vineyard wedding at on of the most coveted places to wed in the north west, Garden Vineyards. There were a lot of great details, from flowers by Page Winograd from Vibrant Table Flowers, to simple yet beautiful place settings, again by Vibrant Table.

They day started at the Nines Hotel, doing some getting ready pictures where Ashley was photographed in the downtown Portland Park Blocks, and Mason and his men stayed at the hotel to play a little pool and relax.

We moved to Garden Vineyards, and continued the day there with live music, signature cocktails and a huge multi course dinner at sunset. From custom suits for the men to sparklers during the first dance to honeymoon in Dubai, this event was a stunner.

Vintage Arizona Wedding by Rust & Lace

If you are a lover of shabby chic then this Arizona wedding will certainly be your vintage cup of tea.  It is bursting with an awesome collection of vintage furniture and decor from Rust & Lace.  Every nook and cranny is styled perfectly with doilies, mirrored trays, chandeliers and mismatched vintage plates.  I love the sweet, personal touches like the antique brooch bouquet hand-crafted by the bride’s mother and the fun vintage truck that acted as the gift table donated by the groom’s family.  Click here to see all the fun details!

From Rust & LacePeyton and Preston were set up by their parents who had been long time friends and decided life could only get better if their son and daughter thought as much of each other as they did of each other as friends. After dating off and on for while the pair decided they couldn’t live without each other and decided to make it official after Preston popped the question and they became engaged in December 2010. The couple set their date to be married April 22, 2011 in the Mesa Arizona Temple later that same day they had a ring ceremony and reception for their family and friends in the backyard of the groom’s parent’s home in Chandler Arizona.

Family and friends all pitched in to help make Peyton and Preston’s day as special and memorable as possible. Peyton’s mom made her brooch bouquet from searching antique stores and thrift shops and then spent hours putting it together it included heirloom pieces handed down from the bride’s grandmother. The groom’s family business provided the gift receiving 1940’s vintage Bashas truck and lots of yummy donuts at the groom’s request. There was also a soft serve ice cream station for guests to cool off and enjoy. Peyton’s step dad hung all the outdoor lighting including the vintage chandeliers.

Peyton and Preston said their I do’s in front of family and friends to a standing room crowd. The flower girl, Peyton’s niece was ushered in a wagon decorated with flowers ahead of the bride who was walked down the aisle by her father and the rest is history. Peyton’s bridesmaids wore yellow dresses and blue coverlets. The flowers were assembled by the bride’s mom’s friend and the stylist/decorator Lettie Peterson. Dinner was a coconut chicken and rice pilaf with a summer salad and rolls. The children weren’t left out, they had there own station of chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, after a yummy dinner a tire swing awaited them in the kids area.

This family knows how to have fun and danced the night away until the bride and groom decided to start their lives as Mr. and Mrs. and called it a night as they ran under the open sky to a sparkler hallway and cheers goodbye from family and friends.

Sydney Engagement Session by Leah Kua

This Sydney engagement session by Leah Kua is like a dream. A dream come true. Each and every image is a timeless keepsake for this seriously good looking couple. Not only do they have some serious style (how much do you love her dress?), but they couldn’t have picked prettier back drops for their sweet as can be shoot. Each image is frame-worthy, and there is so much more in the full gallery of images!

From Leah KuaI always encourage my couples to select a place for their engagement session that is meaningful to them in some way. Hong & Robert chose the location surrounding the apartment they lived in together before buying their first home, with it’s gorgeous views of Sydney Harbour. They wanted something soft and romantic that reflected the city and who they were. After exploring the pier we wandered up to Observatory Hill to watch the sunset  and capture them with the gorgeous city skyline.

Clift Hotel Wedding by Nicole Hill Gerulat

I have a mini love affair with the city hall in San Francisco.  I think I might need to renew my vows just so I can get some photos in front of those gorgeous, gilded double doors just like these two cuties.  Their romantic, intimate wedding is so incredibly chic and elegant with simple, sweet details and pretty, delicate florals.  Nicole Hill Gerulat captures the exquisite and glamorous celebration in all its glory with her phenomenal photos. Click here to see the entire affair in the full gallery!

From the Bride…Aaron & I met in 6th grade and were friends until the end of our senior year of high school when we started dating.  We dated for 5 years when he proposed at Sundance during December.  It was snowing and I don’t think it could have been more perfect. We decided to get married 5 months later in San Francisco. We decided to keep the wedding small, inviting immediate family, aunts, uncles, cousins and our closest friends. I don’t think it could have felt more intimate, which was exactly what we wanted.

Mr. & Mrs. Session by Kristin La Voie Photography

We love a good couple’s session around these parts, especially a session that involves a recently married couple. They just have a certain je ne sais quoi that only a day of celebrating your love can produce. Plus a flash of our favorite red soles from Mr. Louboutin never hurts. Then there’s the fabulous picture taking by Kristin La Voie Photography that makes this love shoot a total gem. The recently married Mr. and Mrs are down right gorgeous and their love is positively bursting from each and every photograph. See the full session here. Congrats you two love birds!

From Kristin La Voie PhotographyI’m dying to share this mouthwatering new Mr. & Mrs. Session of Jenni & Rob at sunset in Wauconda, IL’s Lakewood Forest Preserve. We had a blast photographing their engagement session together and were so bummed to find out I was already booked for their wedding date! We made up for it by taking stellar photos after they tied the knot, and Jenni was thrilled to wear her custom made wedding dress again, and Rob his tux.

Auberge Les Pignons Verts Wedding by LachancePhoto

From croquet to a late night bbq feast, this is a couple that personalized their day right down to the very last detail and it shows through in every single image. The Bride also happens to be a budding photographer so great photography was a total must. Enter Stephanie of LachancePhoto who captured all of the fun moments (groomsmen flashing their superhero t’s), and even a furry friend or two. From the Bride…First we booked the ceremony location. As it turned out, the little white church, officially St-Andrew’s in the Pass, was now a historical monument maintained by local residents who happily agreed to let us use it for our wedding. Finding a reception venue nearby proved to be slightly more difficult. Unimpressed with the cost and inflexibility of surrounding hotels, restaurants, and other typical reception venues, we started looking into renting a private estate. After getting lots of NOs, booking two venues that fell through, we were left without a reception location just four short months before our Labor Day weekend wedding. Then we found Les Pignons Verts (French for Green Gables), a beautiful ivy-covered B&B located just fifteen minutes away from the church.

I also saved tons of time and money buying things online, including my wedding dress, which was beautiful and fit perfectly (despite my never seeing it in person or trying it on). Plus it was less than I paid for my prom dress ten years ago! I bought all the guys accessories online, as well as the entire bridal party’s shoes and the bridesmaids dresses (which was easier anyway since one bridesmaid was living in South Korea and another was living in Barbados at the time). One thing we didn’t skimp on was the photographer. As a budding photographer myself, it was important to me to find someone I felt confident about. That person was Stephanie from LachancePhoto. From the moment we first met she jumped on board with our vision and did an amazing job of capturing our special day using a fun photo-journalistic approach.

We went with garden party theme with a yellow color palette, inspired by my engagement ring (an antique canary diamond ring), paired with mint green and black accents. Almost everything about our wedding was do-it-yourself or get-friends-and-family-to-do-it, which required a lot of time and effort, but was totally worth it and made everything feel that much more personal. My granny made our wedding cake; the caterer was a talented chef and family friend; my mom sewed all the table runners and pennants; my brother doubled as both our MC and DJ; the maid of honor hand painted wooden signs which Daniel and I put together from recycled shipping palettes; my friend from work did all the girls hair (we tried out different hairdos all summer on our lunch break until we found the perfect style); two friends put together all the bouquets and mason jar centerpieces from the two hundred bulk roses I snatched up from a wholesaler; I did a bunch of graphic design and photo projects; and our bridal party helped set up and clean up everything at the ceremony and reception (including rinsing off all the rental dishes the day after the wedding!).

Our wedding was absolutely perfect. A gorgeous day spent with seventy of our closest family and friends. Our ceremony was short, sweet and unique. One of the groomsmen played the violin for our processional (Fireflies by Owl City) and recessional (Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve). The trio of my aunt, uncle and Daniel’s older brother performed the Beatles ‘In My Life’ (which my aunt had sung at my parents’ wedding thirty years ago). One of the bridesmaid’s read Shel Silverstein’s ‘The Giving Tree’ (we planted a tree beside the church in memory of family and friends that we wished could have been there for our special day). And, our two dogs fittingly served as the official ring bearers.

Following the ceremony everyone headed to the B&B where cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served on the front lawn overlooking beautiful Lake Memphremagog. Dinner was served in the backyard under a tent. It was important to us that the food be both delicious and sustainable. We served local Brome Lake duck confit accompanied with vegetables grown especially for the wedding from a farmer down the road paired with our favorite wines, followed by Granny’s homemade lemon cake with butter cream frosting and fresh summer strawberries for dessert.

We tried to infuse our reception with as much fun as possible: we had a table with all sorts of vintage items including wedding photos of our parents and grandparents; instead of table numbers, we named all the tables after our pets and made a donation to a local animal shelter in lieu of favors; we made guests who clinked their glasses to get us to kiss serenade us with a Beatles song first; we set up a photo booth in the greenhouse with tons of disguises (which produced hilarious photos, including one of my Grandma dressed as a tiger); we played croquet and the infamous ‘shoe game’; we danced our first dance to a slideshow of side-by-side photos of Daniel and I growing up (which had everyone in stitches); and, we ended the night with a midnight BBQ complete with yummy baby back ribs.

Maui Wedding by Wendy Laurel

Being a wedding photographer, this bride knew exactly what she wanted for her own wedding and it did not include any grand gestures and over the top design. Instead, she chose to have an intimate ceremony on the beach in Maui with her closest friends and family and the result is pure, Hawaiian romance. Wendy Laurel captured all the special moments on the beach and if you love romantic beach weddings as much as we do, click here for the full gallery.

From Wendy LaurelJoe and Stacy chose to get married while on vacation in Maui because they wanted to have a simple wedding in a beautiful location. As a wedding photographer herself, to Stacy the photography was second only to the exchanging of the vows. “Choosing Wendy Laurel as my photographer was easy, her photos make me smile” said Stacy. “I wanted someone who would make me feel comfortable in front of the camera since I’m only accustomed to being behind it.”

Joe and Stacy wanted very simple.  Because she is used to shooting big weddings, Stacy wanted to go the opposite direction and have a simple beach ceremony with just her close family and friends.  She wanted to have fun and enjoy her wedding with no stress.  A small beach wedding is an intimate celebration and very romantic.   They picked North Malauka in Makena next to the old Hawaiian church named Keawala’i.  Its amazingly beautiful there with beautiful blue skies, palm trees, and white sand.

I am quite smitten with this backyard wedding by Katherine O’Brien Photography.  Everything about it is full of so much joy and whimsy.  I love the cheerful color palette and all the sweet DIY details.  Hello! From Katherine O’Brien PhotographyThis sweet bride grew up in Texas, went off to London to study, found her true love and came back home to be married!   Their backyard wedding was filled with tons of DIY projects her mom put together! She made all the wooden signs, a custom bridge for crossing over to the reception. A white tent filled with floral fabrics flags, recovered chairs, old books, milk glass vases filled with  beautiful coral and yellow flowers. Her mom even made the sweet peach polka dot tie for the groom!

Haley found her dress via J.Crew but accessorized it with a velvet ribbon tied in back with a cameo pin. Their presents for each other were equally cute- for Haley a lace Anthroplogie fan and turquoise bracelets- and for him a Kenneth Cole watch!

The ceremony was super touching when her little brother sang a song just for her. The reception was filled with dancing, our photobooth, an outdoor lounging area and late night root beer floats and amazing homemade desserts by family and friends!

Dairy Farm Wedding by Kelly Dillon Photography

This adorable dairy farm wedding by Kelly Dillon Photography is the epitome of a DIY wedding.  Each country chic detail – every  flower, sign and burlap runner –  was hand-crafted, hand-picked, hand-painted and hand-sewn by this resourceful couple with their friends and family.  Many elements even came from or nearby the farm where the bride grew up including the wood used for the table numbers and the hay bales for the ceremony seating. Click here to see it all!

Click here to see the entire gallery of images!

From the Bride…Our wedding day was more beautiful than we could have ever dreamed of. As a young girl growing up on a dairy farm, I spent many summer days daydreaming about having my wedding on top of the hill. Jeff and I knew we wanted our day to look and feel country and rustic, incorporating parts of the farm into our day. With a limited budget we focused on items we already had or details we could make ourselves. My dad spends many days in the summer haying the fields for his beloved cows so I had him make a few extra bales for the ceremony seating. Our mothers collected fabric from thrift stores and donated their old curtains to use as covers for the bales. Jeff’s father took apart and painted the arbor that was in his garden for us to get married under. I hope one day to be able to have the arbor in our yard to remember back to the day we vowed to love each other for the rest of our lives.

Guests found their seats on an old door that was once in my grandmother’s house and has been in the attic for years. The wood from the table numbers came from an old red barn that recently collapsed. During one sunny afternoon my friends and I painted the signs and table numbers to add to the feeling of a country wedding. Tables were topped with burlap runners that my mother so kindly assembled. One of my favorite DIY projects was our invitations. I am thankful to the Boston Bruins for winning the Stanley Cup, it was during their 2 – 3 games per week that I chose to assemble the invitations while cheering them on! Flowers, oh the flowers, I still think about them! My aunt spent the day before the wedding gathering wildflowers located on her sheep farm for the centerpieces. I didn’t know that there were so many varieties and colors of wildflowers, they were beautiful.

On the wedding day, one of my closest friends, who I’ve known since age 5, went out with me to cut the sunflowers for the bridesmaids bouquet, it was such a special moment to reflect on how exciting of a day this would be! And what a day it was. Even the cows came out to graze in the field as we partied the night away.  As Jeff and I made our way to the Mount Washington Hotel for our honeymoon the next day we were amazed at how perfect everything was. It truly was our dream wedding.

Sunbrite Farm located in Bernardston, Massachusetts (otherwise known as Western Massachusetts) has been in my family for generations. The idea to use milk bottles for the centerpiece came from the glasses my grandfather used to bottle and deliver milk. This wedding could not have been as wonderful without the love and support from all of our family and friends. Bernardston has that small town feel where everyone knows everyone and neighbors are always willing to lend a hand or an old fashioned tractor in this case.

This gorgeously casual yet elegant farm wedding is bursting from the seams with happiness and love. You can totally see it radiating from the pretty bride’s face in each and every beautiful image from Watson Studios. There are so many details to love but we especially love the vibrant purples and greens juxtaposed with the natural surroundings of the sustainable farm and those beyond gorgeous florals…to die for! Ashley Baber Weddings coordinated the pretty, pretty day and if you’re into this as much as we are, you’re definitely gonna wanna hit up the entire gallery of images!

From the Bride…We chose The Inn at Serenbe for our wedding because it offers a unique and beautiful background in a very intimate setting.  While planning, we envisioned our wedding taking place outdoors, in the fall, with a rustic theme.  We loved that Serenbe has a environmentally sustainable farm along with a vibrant community of residents, in addition to the inn.  We wanted to create a weekend event in which everyone could relax and enjoy the beautiful farm and community!

We chose aubergine and acid green as our wedding colors because we wanted to complement the natural hues with a pop of bright color. The best part about planning the wedding was seeing everything that started out as just an idea come together to make a complete piece.  We worked with some wonderful vendors who made our ideas come to life in the most beautiful way. I think our wedding turned out perfectly!  We had such a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends and I feel very blessed that we were able to work with people who will help us remember our wedding as one of the best and most beautiful days of our lives.

Hammock Beach Resort Wedding from Agnes Lopez Photography

What is it about Florida weddings that feel so fresh? Maybe it’s the warm, beach breeze or the sweet ocean sunsets. I have a hunch that it just might be the impeccable, clean style of Florida brides and grooms. At least in the case of this Florida wedding, I know I’m right. Captured by the talented Agnes Lopez Photography, the soft coastal glow, the stunning, sparkle filled details, and the fabulous fashion must have been a product of this gorgeous bride and her handsome groom. Make sure to spend your day in the full image gallery – where we can all imagine that our day has just as wonderful an ambience as this soiree.

Our wedding was a grand celebration of our love story that began over ten years ago.  Michael and I met in high school with our first date being the Homecoming dance.  We shared many wonderful memories throughout high school, then college at Auburn University, and now in our adult lives.

Even though we had been talking about our future and getting engaged, Michael managed to surprise me with a beautiful proposal at our home in Brookhaven, Georgia.  We were so excited to officially start our lives together!

While I haven’t been planning my wedding day since I was little, I had always dreamed it would take place at the beautiful Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.  I have been visiting this location for many years and found it to be one of Florida’s hidden treasures with a gorgeous beach, first class golf course, amazing amenities, and breathing-taking views.  Michael and I love to travel and felt that a destination wedding suited us well.

The overall ambience and style for the wedding was regal and elegant with a bit of a twist.  We incorporated some items that were timeless, our personalized monogram, along with a few unique touches such as six foot canvas pictures from our engagement session at the cocktail hour and a beautiful arbor that we were married under which had bands of flowers across the top with strands of hanging crystals that gleamed in the sunlight.  The wedding took place on the Resort’s Grand Lawn with a fabulous backdrop of the 18th green and the beautiful blue ocean.  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day in June!

One of the most vivid memories I have from my wedding day is walking down the aisle with my father and seeing my best friend smiling back at me. It was such a surreal moment that captured the whole day perfectly; the many months of planning every detail had materialized into an amazing moment, where I was surrounded by all the people who loved and supported us throughout the years and finally getting to marry the love of my life.

As a truly special touch, my Mom had a special piece of jewelry she gave to me on my wedding day for my “something old”.  My late grandmother had a beautiful diamond pendant that she passed down to my Mother, which in turn she had made into a ring as a wedding present.  It was such a thoughtful gift – I felt as though my grandmother was with me during such an important occasion in my life.

I feel so bless that our wedding was everything I could have wished for and am now married to my best friend!

From Make My Day Event Planning This wedding was on a perfect June evening, set in the backyard of the bride’s family home in Harrington, Delaware. The traditional elements and personal touches spoke to the couple without saying a word, except “I DO,” of course!

The bride’s sister created a one-of-a-kind wedding gown for the bride which paid an ode to Korean tradition and form, but followed American tradition in it’s color. The two flower girls also wore handmade gowns by the bride’s sister, as well. The ceremony consisted of about 60 close family and friends who gathered underneath the old cherry tree, perfectly green and full, to witness the wedding ceremony performed by the bride’s most inspiring professor from college who flew in for the occasion. The professor spoke of Korean tradition and referenced the history of marriage, Korean wedding tradition and the history of the couple in his meaningful service. At the center of the ceremony, sat two wooden ducks – symbolizing a long and happy marriage in Korean tradition. Guests celebrated and showered the newlyweds with walnuts as they celebrated their recent vow exchange, which in Korean tradition symbolizes luck in fertility in their marriage.

As guests enjoyed the soft sounds of a string ensemble, orange mojitos and mint juleps were flowing (a favorite of the groom) and passed hors d’oeuvres were presented which began to introduce the cultural fusion menu to guests with fresh sushi rolls and eastern shore mini crab cakes. The bride and groom shared a few quiet moments together before mingling with their guests during cocktail hour.

A true sense of family and tradition was the highlight of this couple’s wedding day, just as they had envisioned. The reception tables were dressed in colorful flowers and elegant touches of gold and porcelain complimented to match the “English Country meets Korean Tradition” decor – and wedding photos (dating back to the 1920’s) of their family members were scattered throughout the outdoor space bringing an even more personal and real sense of family and history to this wedding.

Guests made their way to their seats inside the dinner tent and enjoyed a family style feast of traditional kimchi (brought all the way from the couple’s favorite restaurant), Korean short ribs, soybean salad (all Korean dishes) and inspired by the Eastern Shore of Delaware (and all grown  locally) guests also shared/passed platters of grilled scallops, barbecue chicken, and summer potato salad. The meal was finished with the groom’s mother’s famous strawberry shortcake, served individually to each guest and wedding cake made by the groom’s mother herself. Throughout the evening, guests mingled, swayed to the jazzy string ensemble, witnessed an impromptu Korean calligraphy demonstration from the bride’s grandfather and to end a magical evening of family and love, “What a Wonderful World” played (a surprise request from the groom to the bride) under the soft string lights dancing in the ceiling of the tent. This wedding was not only full of family, culture, history and tradition – but everyone present could feel the love.

From the Bride…Our love story feels like something out of a movie! We met at his own birthday BBQ in the Bronx (introduced by his sister!). We fell in love over a tray of pulled pork (we’re both Southerners at heart). We were engaged 7 months later after he proposed on one knee in my studio apartment with an art deco ring I “accidentally” picked out. And seven months after that we were married (at our parish church, the beautiful St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, surrounded by loads of family and friends from all over the world)!

It was a scorching hot day, but the sun was shining and I was the happiest person in the world. A 1933 Rolls Royce convertible picked us up outside the church after the ceremony, and we created quite the spectacle. Tourists came in throngs to take pictures! Mark pulled out a bottle of champagne and let the cork pop for the entire crowd to see. People were clapping and cheering as we made our way down Fifth Avenue, all the way to the South Street Seaport, where our reception was at. The venue was perfect. Light flooded in the space that overlooks the water and the rock/country band that we hired because they were playing the night Mark threw me a surprise birthday party was a ton of fun.

When Mark and I first started talking about our wedding, we decided we wanted to have as many of the people who have loved and supported us through the years with us on our wedding day, and to celebrate by throwing a great fun party in the city that we met and fell in love in! Working on a budget in NYC was not an easy task. I spent hours scouring blogs and websites and magazines to find really AWESOME vendors at reasonable prices.

I fell in love with my stationery from a rockin’ place in Brooklyn called Lion in the Sun. To see those words in writing for the first time “request the honor of your presence at the nuptial Mass uniting their daughter”…it still makes me giddy with glee. Our photographer, Judy Pak, I stumbled upon on SMP’s website. I was inspired by an engagement shoot she had done. When we met over a cup of coffee at Starbucks for the first time, we just seemed to click and I knew she would do a fabulous job!

The DRESS…was an adventure. I tried on every single dress in the great city of New York and then some more when Mark and I went on vacation in Costa Rica. I kept waiting for that “THIS IS IT!” moment, but it never really came. Finally, as March was upon me and I still had no dress, I went by myself one day after work, saw my dress on the rack, tried it on, and bought it…feeling a little like Grace Kelly and knowing I would be comfortable. It wasn’t until my actual wedding day that I was completely head over heels for my dress.

After I selected each vendor, I trusted them to do what they do best and in the end, we could not have been happier. Everything was beautiful, classy, simple, yet lovely. And from what I can tell, everyone had such a fun time, especially us!

The Breakers Hotel Wedding by Ray Roman Films

Wow. This film, this wedding – just wow. It’s breathtaking to the point I am speechless. Shot at the completely glamorous Breakers Hotel by Ray Roman Films, it is elegant, emotional, stylish and then some. If you thought Wednesdays were a bit dull, well you are about to get a beautiful awakening. It’s such a lovely way to start the day, and I highly recommend pairing your cup of coffee with this piece of cinematography this morning.

From Ray Roman FilmsYou know it’s a special couple when everyone involved with the wedding seems to be waiting for this one special day. Well, the day finally arrived (in the most amazing way possible). Vanessa and Taylor had an UNBELIEVABLE wedding at my favorite venue on the planet, The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Between the jaw-dropping architecture at the Breakers Hotel to stunning decor provided by the Breakers Design Studio, this wedding was just one eye-candy shot after another.

Vanessa & Taylor were truly one of the coolest couples we’ve ever had the pleasure of documenting. Their unique style, presence and personality just lit up the room and their love for each other most definitely took this film over the top. I hope you enjoy this film as much as we enjoyed documenting Vanessa & Taylor’s incredible wedding.

Atlanta Wedding by Harwell Photography + Ashley Baber Weddings

Anything that Jeremy Harwell shoots is usually gorgeous. Whether it’s a crazy beautiful tented wedding or an insanely lovely fashion shoot, Jeremy just has a way with the camera. So when he teamed up with Ashley Baber on a recent Atlanta wedding, we knew we were in for a treat. Add to that equation a bride and groom who designed a wedding that truly represented who they are now, where they came from, and where they are going…and you have a wedding that is pure magic. And even though the photographs are gorgeous, make sure to also read the bride’s words because it’s such a lesson in planning a wedding that everyone here will love. A reminder to look only to yourselves and your loves to guide your celebration. Click here to see even more.

From the Bride…No doubt, when Ernesto’s parents and my parents fled their respective countries (Cuba and Vietnam) decades ago to come to the United States, they had no idea that leaving their homeland to start a new life in America would lead to this special day. Ernesto and I are, in essence, the first truly “American” generation in both of our families, and we wanted to have a wedding that everyone could enjoy, but one that reflected our particular tastes.

Our families came from all over the U.S., from Miami, San Diego, Dallas and Boston to name a few, and from places as far as Malaysia and Saigon to celebrate with us.  We found early on that one of the challenges in having a cross-cultural wedding was that our cultural wedding traditions differed significantly.  Instead of trying to blend our traditions, we decided to start anew and have a wedding that acknowledged the new life that Ernesto and I have created together in Atlanta.  Although it may be surprising to some, Atlanta is truly a global melting pot and an place of eclectic tastes. We found the perfect venue in Summerour Studio, which is part Tuscan villa, part urban warehouse tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, but with a great view of the city skyline.

Our wedding buffet featured some of our favorite things, like New York strip and deep fried anything (specifically, deep fried turkey breast at our wedding), but also gave our guests a taste of the South, with Georgia mountain trout in pecan butter, sweet potatoes, and coca-cola glazed pork tenderloin.  Our favorite local trumpet player, Joe Gransden, and his 9 piece band played classic, big band era tunes that inspired everyone to grab the one that they love and head to the dance floor.  Instead of a traditional wedding cake, we ended the night by cutting some wedding flan.  Flan was surprisingly appropriate because it is a dessert that is familiar to both Cuban and Vietnamese cultures, and our favorite dessert in general!

As a bride, some of my personal favorite details were the seating place cards that I hand-stamped myself in sepia colored ink with a cute little heart and arrow stamp for the table number (although I was cursing myself in those final few days for undertaking such a task).  I also loved the miniature Woodstock wind chimes that we gave away as wedding favors.  I hope that help give the blog people a better idea of where we came from.  We wanted to have a timeless, classic and romantic wedding that anyone, young, old, Asian, Latin, and “other” could enjoy.

DeArmond Garden Estate Wedding from Stark Photography

Ooh, la la. I don’t say that often, but today, with this gorgeous Oregon wedding on my plate, definitely calls for a Ohh la la. The stunning bride and her Prince Charming decided on a vintage garden theme for their special day – and with that, she added a touch of whimsy, a little DIY, and just the perfect amount of fun. The result? A fanciful wedding filled to the brim with amazing little details, from streamers, to vintage milk bottles, to some pretty amazing patterns. The whole affair was captured by the talent that is Stark Photography – and it continues in the full image gallery, where you will get lost in this beautiful soiree!

When Ryan and I became engaged I was so happy and excited but also a bit overwhelmed.  I wasn’t the type of person who had dreamed of their wedding since they were a little girl and so wasn’t sure what I wanted my wedding to look like – aside from knowing that I wanted to get married in the summer and that I wanted our wedding to be beautiful and fun.

I began scouring wedding blogs (including SMP) for ideas and inspiration and found myself drawn to many different styles.  Modern, rustic, eclectic and vintage weddings all appealed to me and I was a little confused with what style to focus on.  Luckily when we found our our venue I was able to draw on it for inspiration.  Our venue had a gorgeous grand lawn and an amazing conservatory and English garden that reminded me of a place that would have hosted a fabulous garden party in a later time.  I decided to focus on the idea of a vintage, French garden party with some modern and quirky touches to reflect our sense of humor and fun.

Lots of time was spent at antique stores and online looking for vintage pieces that fit our theme and color scheme.  I ended up collecting vintage milk bottles (for the centerpieces), along with milk glass, table clothes, cake plates and anything that really struck my fancy.  I wanted our wedding to be something that we really loved so I focused more on finding things that Ryan and and I adored more than things that fit into our theme exactly.   I also found tons of amazing things for the wedding on Etsy.  One of my favorites was a hand-carved stamp of our faces that was made by a woman in France.  We used it on our invitation envelopes and our candy favor bags and everyone found it so delightful.

I also decided to do quite a few DIY projects for the wedding (with help from my friends and family) for a more personal touch.  My favorite of them was the flags that we made for each of our guests out of muslin that were hand stamped with a “Hooray!”  stamp that I had custom made.  I intended that they be fun favors and had our caterer tuck them in with our menus on everyone’s reception plate.  To my delight when Ryan and I were announcedand made our entrance into the reception area everyone waved their flags and shouted “hooray!”  I was so excited!

I love our wedding.  We worked with such amazing vendors and even though everything didn’t look exactly as I had envisioned some of it was even better than I had imagined.  I will never forget how amazing it was to see my soon-to-be husband (who I had never seen cry) with tears in his eyes when he first saw me in my wedding dress and the joy of having our family and friends around us on such a special day.  Hooray!

From Sweet Monday PhotographyRakhee and Jacob had a gorgeous two day Indian Wedding in Los Angeles (August 26 & 27th). The first day’s festivities were held at Vibiana, a former cathedral in downtown LA.  During the Garba (traditional Indian dancing), guests dined on Korean BBQ tacos and Indian dosas from food trucks in the courtyard, and later cooled off with shaved ice.

For the wedding day, Rakhee and Jacob chose Union Station as the backdrop for their ceremony and reception.  Details were, naturally, travel themed, with guests being sent to a “track number” for their seat, passing by a scrumptious dessert ticket counter on their way!
