[field title=”Proposal Story”]
How Andres and Elina met: Andres and Elina met the summer before freshman year at Northwestern, connected by a mutual friend who knew they were both heading to Evanston that fall. What started as easy hangouts and long phone calls quickly turned into the kind of friendship that defined their entire college experience; for four years, they were inseparable best friends, sharing every triumph, heartbreak, and late-night study sessions. It wasn’t until after graduation, when Andres stayed for his master’s and Elina remained nearby to prepare for medical-school applications, that the spark finally ignited; the people who had shared every secret and inside joke for years suddenly realized they were in love. Four years of dating (and nine years of friendship) later, Andres proposed on a candlelit, rose-covered rooftop in Manhattan. On October 5, 2024, exactly five years to the day from when they officially became a couple and the tenth anniversary of the summer they met, Elina married her college best friend, closing one perfect decade and beginning the next. Proposal Story: The night before Elina was set to move to San Diego for residency, Andres told her he had planned a small going-away gathering with friends on the following evening—but first, he wanted to take her somewhere quiet, just the two of them. When the private elevator opened onto the rooftop of his Brooklyn apartment building, Elina found a glowing pathway of crimson rose petals lined with candles, leading across the space to a single table buried in roses, the New York skyline glittering behind it like a private fireworks display. Andres took her hand, walked her slowly down that petal-strewn aisle, and dropped to one knee beneath the city lights. He told Elina he couldn’t imagine life without her and asked her to be his wife. She said yes through joyful tears, and seconds later their closest friends—who had helped Andres orchestrate the entire surprise and had been hiding just out of sight—rushed out with champagne, turning Elina’s going-away party into the most joyful engagement celebration the city had ever seen.

Romantic, whimsical florals with organic shape and movement set a tone of lighthearted elegance. Floral colors were warm and vibrant, complementing the beautiful Malibu sunset, but in slightly muted tones to represent the coming of Fall in the October wedding. Traditional style vessels with a clean, natural finish blended seamlessly with the outdoor setting. Warm candlelight sparkled through the reception with pleated glass votives and tapers, thoughtfully styled amongst the florals.
