It was summer in the city, and we went to Nougatine by Jean-Georges for brunch, followed by an afternoon of museum hopping on the Upper East Side. Later, we walked through Central Park and stopped at the Conservatory Gardens, where Brendan got down on one knee.

Guests were welcomed with a pre-ceremony gathering in the gardens at the hotel’s entrance, followed by the wedding ceremony. Afterward, an aperitif was served inside the hotel’s elegant indoor spaces. Dinner then took place at sunset on the iconic Vittoria terrace overlooking the Gulf of Sorrento, where round tables were set beneath the open sky, and a live band created a truly magical atmosphere. The five-course dinner was thoughtfully interspersed with heartfelt speeches, allowing guests to savor both the cuisine and the celebration. The menu showcased a refined and sophisticated interpretation of traditional Italian cuisine, highlighting impeccable flavors and presentation. Signature Drinks: Limoncello Drop Martini and St. Germain Spritz Dinner Menu: First Course: Caprese salad, selection of mozzarella cheeses and cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and basil; Second Course: Sorrento lemon risotto, red prawns and chives; Third Course: Mezzi paccheri pasta, san marzano D.O.P. tomato sauce, extra virgin olive oil and basil; Fourth Course: Guest choice of either (i) pan-seared chicken supreme, mashed potatoes, and spicy diavola sauce, or (ii) pan-seared sea bream fillet, gratinated zucchini batons, mashed potatoes, saffron sauce; Fifth Course: Ceylon cinnamon parfait and cantalupe melon sorbet

Light side drapery moved gracefully with the coastal breeze, enhancing the sense of effortless elegance. Round reception tables were styled with flowing centerpieces featuring white, blue, and green florals, creating a natural and refined look. Each guest’s place was marked with a lemon bearing their name, a charming nod to traditional Sorrento décor. The bridal bouquet and bridal party accessories echoed the same floral aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive and timeless design throughout the celebration.

The wedding cake featured a five-tier design finished in a smooth white glaze, with layers filled with light Chantilly cream and fresh strawberries. Floral accents, designed by the florist, completed the look with an organic and refined touch, perfectly matching the style of the wedding. A selection of traditional Neapolitan pastries was also displayed, adding a sweet nod to local tradition.

Entertainment truly made the difference throughout the entire celebration. The symbolic ceremony was officiated by the couple’s aunt and featured deeply moving readings, paired with carefully chosen songs that created an intimate and magical atmosphere. Music was thoughtfully curated by Red Monium, who accompanied guests from their arrival through every moment of the day with ever-evolving performances. From soulful saxophone melodies to international pop hits, alongside beloved Italian classics, the music set the tone for each phase of the celebration. The evening culminated in an unforgettable party in the ballroom, complete with dancers and costumes that transformed the reception into a vibrant and joyful experience. I do not have the songs anymore; maybe more details here would make it interesting. – Guests were welcomed with beloved Italian classics in the garden for the welcome drink. – As guests gathered on the Royal Terrace to await the start of the ceremony, the musicians performed an instrumental rendition of “Golden Hour”. – I walked down the aisle with both of my parents to “La Vie en Rose”. – For the aperitivo, a saxophonist played with a DJ. At the start of the reception, I danced with my father to a contemporary remix of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon”, where we were joined by Brendan and his mother, and eventually my mother and Brendan’s father.

Our wedding took place on my parents’ 34th wedding anniversary. The day was also significant for Brendan, as it marked the birthday of his late grandfather. In a gesture to my parents, I was married with my mother’s original wedding band, which is now newly engraved with the dates “8.31.1991, 2025”.

The hotel is famously associated with the iconic song Caruso by Lucio Dalla—an enduring ode to the beauty of the Gulf of Sorrento. As noted above, instead of traditional father-daughter / mother-son dances, both my father, Brendan, and his mother, and my mother and Brendan’s father waltzed together to a contemporary remix of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon”. Planning the wedding weekend with both of our parents was such a joy, and so we felt dancing together symbolized the new union of our two families

The effect was feminine and luminous rather than bold or graphic, a palette that felt timeless, effortless, and perfectly in harmony with the Italian countryside.

Karla, together with her wedding planner Katia of The Tuscan Wedding, approached the celebration as the creation of an atmosphere rather than a defined theme—one inspired by the Italian countryside, the softness of late summer, and a shared appreciation for timeless fashion infused with a modern fairytale sensibility. Rather than following trends, their vision was guided by emotion and intention: a palette of beautiful pastels, sculptural silhouettes, airy floral compositions, and an overall sense of lightness that flowed seamlessly through every detail. The result was an aesthetic that felt elegant and curated without ever appearing styled—more akin to a fashion editorial unfolding organically within a garden setting than a traditional wedding. Each element was thoughtfully selected to feel cohesive yet effortless, allowing the landscape, the people, and the emotion of the day to remain at the heart of the experience.

Karla and Darren’s love story began with a blind date set up by two friends, a quiet beginning that would soon unfold into a life shaped by travel, intention, and deep connection. In September 2024, while traveling together in Sardinia, Italy, Darren planned a moment that felt as effortless as it was unforgettable. On a warm, sunlit afternoon, the two were sailing off the coast near Cala di Volpe, surrounded by endless blue water and the stillness of the sea. Karla thought it was simply another beautiful day in one of their favorite places. Then Darren asked her to sit with him at the front of the boat, and, completely unexpectedly, got down on one knee. The proposal was intimate and emotional. Darren shared how certain he was about their future and how he wanted to spend his life exploring the world and building a home with Karla. She said yes through happy tears, laughter, and a moment that felt both surreal and grounding all at once. They continued sailing that afternoon, letting the moment unfold slowly, before celebrating with a romantic dinner overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. One year later, in September 2025, Karla and Darren returned to Italy to be married in Tuscany, completing a love story that began with a blind date, bloomed on a boat in Sardinia, and came full circle in the Italian countryside.

The gown felt both classic and modern, a perfect reflection of the setting in the Tuscan countryside and the understated sophistication Karla envisioned for the day. Elegant without feeling formal, and romantic without being overly ornate, the dress embodied everything she wanted to feel as a bride: timeless, confident, and completely herself.[/field]

Rather than choosing a single bridesmaid dress, Karla wanted each bridesmaid to feel like herself. She invited her bridesmaids to select their own gowns in a soft, harmonious palette, allowing personal style, silhouette, and texture to guide each choice. The result was a beautifully layered look of pastels and movement: flowing satin slips, airy chiffon, soft pleats, and romantic ruffles in shades of blush, seafoam, sky blue, pale yellow, and sage. Designers ranged from McDuggal and Amsale to NANA Jacqueline, creating a mix that felt curated but never uniform. Together, the dresses felt joyful, feminine, and expressive, a reflection of the women themselves, and of Karla’s desire for the day to feel personal, warm, and effortlessly elegant.

The evening ends with a live cake show-cooking, desserts, and after-dinner drinks.

The floral design by Il Giardino delle Fate florist was conceived as an immersive, nature-driven narrative, deeply rooted in seasonality and the philosophy of slow flowers. A refined palette of soft whites, gentle blush, pale blue, and fresh green tones echoed the surrounding Tuscan landscape, creating a sense of effortless harmony between the setting and the décor. The ceremony space was defined by a sculptural, floral low arch, designed with abundant blooms at the front and layered greenery behind, framing the moment with a natural yet architectural presence. Along the aisle, elegant, non-continuous floral arrangements guided the guests’ view, complemented by a crisp white runner and delicate petals placed on each chair, enhancing the romantic atmosphere without overpowering the space. As the celebration transitioned into dinner, the floral elements evolved seamlessly. Round tables were adorned with lush yet airy centerpieces, composed in low vessels to encourage conversation, while a serpentine flow of candles connected each table, casting a warm, intimate glow. Three tonal variations of candles added depth and visual rhythm, elevating the tablescape into a refined, candlelit landscape. Every detail—from the bridal bouquet to the smallest floral accents—was designed to feel organic, elegant, and timeless, creating a cohesive visual story that celebrated natural beauty, craftsmanship, and understated luxury.

What began as a refined and elegant soundtrack quickly evolved into a full-scale celebration, where the dance floor never lost momentum. The live saxophone moved effortlessly through the crowd, creating a sense of connection and shared joy that blurred the line between performers and guests.

As Darren later shared, “They truly made it a party.”
Despite the intimate size of the wedding, the energy was magnified—“It felt like 120 people.” That is the signature of Tasten Sax: the rare ability to elevate a space, amplify emotion, and turn a carefully curated gathering into a euphoric celebration.

Every performance is guided by intuition and presence. Reading the room, responding to the crowd, and building energy in real time, Tasten Sax crafted a party that felt spontaneous yet perfectly balanced—where elegance met pure, unfiltered fun.

For Darren, it was a dream come true.

Menus with personalized calligraphy. The wedding menu By Laura Mazzetti – The Wedding Letter, was designed as a sculptural, fashion-forward detail within the tablescape. Its soft, rounded silhouette—layered in delicate, petal-like shapes—introduced a sense of movement and refinement, echoing the organic lines of the floral design. Rendered in powdery hues with subtle gold lettering and finished with a silk ribbon and a single blush rose, each menu resembled a curated accessory rather than a traditional paper piece. A tactile expression of modern romance, where form, texture, and craftsmanship came together in effortless editorial elegance.

In April, Carson and Eric went to Austin, Texas, to celebrate Carson’s birthday. While there, they went to Lake Travis and were getting ready for dinner to celebrate. Before dinner, Eric took Carson to the lake and got down on one knee and popped the question. Carson said yes, and both of their families surprised them at the lake. It was a sweet evening to celebrate the engagement with loved ones and a birthday Carson will never forget.

At cocktail hour, guests were served wine and the signature cocktail as they entered the space. The bar hosted lots of spirits, including the Bride’s signature drink, a Classic Margarita with Tajin on the rim. The groom opted for a signature drink of Diet Coke with a lime wedge. During cocktail hour, guests were served passed hors d’oeuvres, including a beef carpaccio on grilled focaccia toast with dijon caper cream and micro arugula, smashed avocado tostadas garnished with pomegranate arils, and chicken tinga quesadilla with honey chile lime crema on top. The guests moved into the reception space and were greeted with a glass of champagne and a plated field green salad with tart apples, dried cranberries, candied pecans, and cider vinaigrette. On the table was grilled focaccia brushed with herbed olive oil and served with whipped butter. The main course was passed next with the guest’s choice of red wine braised short ribs or pan-roasted airline breast of chicken with fig reduction. The entrees were served with rosemary new potatoes and charred broccolini. The food was absolutely divine from start to finish!

The florals and decor exemplified the romantic atmosphere and moody vibes. Florals were vibrant and brightened the space, while the moss and greenery hanging from the light fixture were earthy. Various roses, hydrangeas, amaranth, moss, and more florals flowed together, creating the perfect autumn floral scape. The tables dressed in linens were lined with beautiful floral arrangements, warm candles, table lamps, moss, seasonal fruits, white plates, satin napkins, gold cutlery, green velvet table numbers, and beautiful stationery. The checkered green and white dance floor complemented the moody tones of the florals. The cocktail space had a velvet lounge set with warm lighting. The seating chart was a beautiful light oak wooden table with an elegant floral arrangement consisting of the same autumn components and escort cards. At the end of the night, the cake stand had its moment. It was a mauve satin linen with a white marble cake stand, florals blooming from all around the table, and taper candles tied with satin ribbon bows. From start to finish, the florals and decor seamlessly conveyed the desire for a soft, moody, and romantic wedding.

The groom (not gluten-free) said it was the best gluten-free dessert he had ever tasted! Truly delicious and gorgeous.

The bride and groom love coffee. One of their first dates was over a coffee, bright and early in the morning. They wanted to add a fun surprise for guests and incorporate their love for coffee into the wedding. Plus, coffee helps the dance floor be more energetic and lively. It was a hit! The coffee cart came out after dinner and served matcha, tea, hot chocolate, seasonal and classic latte flavors, and regular coffee. People raved over the coffee cart as a source of joy and energy to keep the wedding lively.

The couple had a crest made with their first initials for the wedding to add a personal detail to the event. It was seen first in the invitation to set the intention. On the wedding day, it was printed on the linen welcome sign, flowing in the wind at the entrance. Then, on the programs during the ceremony. It was also featured on the frosted cups at cocktail hour and the back of the menus at dinner. It was a tiny reminder of the couple spread throughout the night that made it special and memorable.

The proposal happened in July 2024 and was a complete surprise in terms of timing; however, Zahra had suspicions that it would happen sometime in 2024, as they had gone ring shopping in January and February. The first year of their relationship (2022) was long-distance, with Zahra living in DC and Marshall living in Seattle. In July 2024, they happened to be back in Seattle for a day before heading out on an Alaskan cruise. They spent the afternoon in Seattle visiting one of their favorite restaurants for happy hour and exploring Marshall’s old neighborhood. In a local park that they had previously spent a lot of time in, Marshall was able to find a secluded spot by the water where he asked Zahra to marry him. They ended the evening by going out to dinner at their actual favorite restaurant in Seattle: Pink Door.

From the beginning, the creative direction centered on contrast. Elegant yet playful, elevated yet earthy, timeless with a touch of modern irreverence. Because in Italy, beauty often lives in the in-between.

Muted terracotta and earthy browns anchored the editorial in something raw and honest, a tactile nod to the Sicilian soil. Olive green, drawn directly from the surrounding groves, introduced an organic counterpoint, both grounding and alive. A Cultural Fusion Wedding in Prague with Indian Traditions, Czech Customs, and a Vineyard Mandap Ceremony

The groom proposed to the bride on an unseasonably warm and sunny December afternoon in Central Park, a place closely tied to their life together in New York City. Having met in the city and spent countless hours wandering the park over the years, it felt like a natural setting for the moment. The bride wore a deep wine–colored lehenga with intricate beading that reflected the light throughout the ceremony. The embroidery extended across the lehenga skirt and blouse. She paired the look with a sheer wine-toned veil, which, like the lehenga, included emerald green accents threaded through the palette. The touches of green added dimension and echoed the emerald details on the groom’s traditional Indian sherwani. The lehenga was from Frontier Raas in Delhi, India.

We hired indian chef coming to the villa and making traditional indian food for cocktails after the ceremony and late snack – samosas, pani puri, lassi, etc. The dinner was served, international, where guests had a choice between meat and vegetarian options.

The wedding cake was ordered by the mother of the groom and delivered to the villa with a sweet bar. Groom’s mum also baked traditional Czech wedding sweets that were served in lovely boxes. The bride and groom set out to weave together elements of their Indian and Czech cultures throughout their wedding celebrations. The wedding festivities began with a sangeet held aboard a boat on the Vltava River, where guests danced while taking in views of Prague. The wedding day featured a Czech civil ceremony followed by a Hindu ceremony, overlooking the beautiful and historic city. During the reception, the bride and groom shared a speech in both English and Czech and took part in a Czech tradition in which a plate is broken, and the couple cleans up the pieces together, symbolizing partnership and cooperation. The celebrations concluded the following day with a historic tram ride through Prague.

To keep authenticity, many items were delivered directly from India – from saris for both families, to pashminas for ladies, beautiful earrings and bracelets that ladies took as a gift, in a lovely traditional indian bag. We customized 2 stalls, in on was placed the jewelry, in other served traditional masala chai, decorated by indian spices in packets from India. The couple sits in front of a beautiful wall with original fabric wallpaper, decorated by peacocks, that was also delivered from India. Peacocks were used at all stationery, especially a beautiful order of service, which perfectly explained the ceremony for Western guests.

A Hindu priest arrived from Budapest, Hungary, to marry the couple after a traditional Czech ceremony. Mandap was decorated by loverly pieces delivered from India, and all the ceremony props came from India as well.

A Timeless Summer Wedding with a Long Table Reception and Old World Candlelit Elegance

In our design endeavor for the wedding of Dania and Ivan, Adriatic Weddings and Showroom design aimed to infuse a sense of timelessness and warmth into the wedding details, creating a table setting that is memorable yet harmoniously integrated into its surroundings. Soft elements highlight the ease of the evening, fostering a calming atmosphere. The gentle movement of the breeze serves as the final touch of the design, playing with textures to create a magical and vibrant ambiance at the table. To enhance the dining experience, we incorporated silver cutlery that exudes old-world charm, complementing the white linens and the vibrant green and burgundy hues of the grape installations. This choice beautifully connects the venue’s stone facade tones with the table arrangement. The warm flicker of candlelight suspended by vintage, silver-toned candelabras created a gentle glow, fostering an inviting atmosphere. We also utilised natural fabrics for the table setting to achieve a classic and timeless aesthetic. This enduring design encapsulates the spirit of a summer evening, where sophistication and style seamlessly blend, inviting guests to savor a memorable dining experience in a stunning environment. The intimacy of the atmosphere of friends and family was accentuated by all 115 guests dining at one long table.

Ivan and I have been friends for a very, very long time. He’s always been part of my family because he’s my older brother’s best friend, so I’ve always known him. I think as soon as we realized that we liked each other and that we were going to start dating, which was in 2021, we already knew that it wasn’t going to be just a summer fling. We knew it was going to be more than that and something serious. So the proposal wasn’t very surprising. It was something that, from the very beginning, we kind of expected after about two years of being together. He took me to an industrial warehouse where they do painting classes. The place was booked out just for Ivan and me. There was a painting teacher, a long table, and a canvas and paint on each side of the table. The teacher said that the lesson for the day was to paint what we believed our relationship would look like over the years. I painted a flower that was growing and growing in stages. I don’t even remember what Ivan painted. The whole place was booked for us, there was music, and we weren’t allowed to look at each other’s paintings until we were finished. As soon as we showed our paintings to each other, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. It was the most special moment. It was beautiful, and I’ve never said this out loud.

The kick-off of the festivities was at the welcome cocktails. Guests were served an open bar with two signature cocktails – Pisco Pitch – a tribute to the groom’s football obsession – bright, punchy, and guaranteed to score! Disco Kiss, named after the couple’s first kiss under a disco ball. A buffet of local mezze delicacies was served as well. The guests enjoyed San Canzian’s gastronomical expertise with tuna tartare as the cold appetizer, followed by a traditional local Istrian specialty – Pljukanci pasta with seafood bisque. Each guest had a choice of either beef steak with a side of potato dauphinois or sea bass fillet with sweet potato cream, citrus gel, and crispy fennel as the main course. In a sweet twist of events, the selected dessert at the sit-down dinner was an Espresso Martini cocktail for each guest. This choice of dessert made sure the guests got a shot of energy before proceeding to the dancefloor, where a buffet of sweets awaited, curated by the lovely local KJ Pastry patisserie.

The wedding bouquet was medium-sized, a statement piece that gives the impression of an elegant, light summer composition and frames the overall impression of the wedding. The florals used were local and garden-grown, inspired by Istria. The table decor was achieved through grape, fig, and asmaranthus installations, all accentuated with subdued tones from the candlelight. All the cutlery and candelabras were silver-toned, giving the setup a vintage, old-world feel. At each seat, a craft paper name tag was held securely in position by an artichoke.

The couple opted for a Tiramisu Tower, again curated by KJ Pastry. After a toast, each guest was offered a Tiramisu serving.

The ceremony opened with the procession of the wedding party. It was officiated by two of the couple’s nearest and dearest friends, and culminated in the couple’s vows to each other, followed by a beautiful and deep reading of an excerpt from ‘On Marriage’, by Kahlil Gibran: Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of Marriage, master? And he answered, saying: You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread,d but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, even as the strings of the lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow. The couple opted for a well-known local harp player, Doris Karamatić, to be their musical soundtrack to the ceremony. The bride entered to ‘Forever’ by Labrinth, and the couple exited to the song ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges.

Approach to wedding photography. For Dania and Ivan, photography was envisioned as an unobtrusive, documentary experience, one that would preserve the genuine rhythm of the day and the natural flow of emotions. In close collaboration with the photographer, the couple embraced a relaxed approach focused on capturing spontaneous moments shared with their guests, allowing the story of the celebration to unfold organically. The imagery reflects the warmth and authenticity of the gathering, framed by the timeless beauty of San Canzian’s stone architecture and serene surroundings. Thoughtful attention was also given to the details of the evening table setting, where textures, candlelight, and carefully curated elements were documented in a way that felt effortless and true to the atmosphere. Together, the photographs convey an intimate visual narrative, one that feels natural, emotive, and deeply connected to the setting and the people within it.

A Joyful Pastel Wedding with Colorful, Conversation-Driven Design and a Statement Oval Bar

From the first planning call, Bride Leah gushed about loving pastel colors and wanting to brighten every space for her guests. No colors were off-limits, but the design was rooted in shades of pastel pink with yellows, corals, oranges, and blues.

With a stationary reception, we wanted the guests to utilize the entire venue and have the design be creative, colorful, and encourage conversation. By using the veranda and tasting room as additional dinner locations, we were able to bring in fun design elements to the Granary in addition to the guest dining tables you typically see. We anchored the reception design with a large custom oval bar from Paisley and Jade. We used a warmer color palette for the florals, from peach to butter yellow, and complemented this with a cooler color palette for the linens and furnishings in green, blue, and pink. The design flowed effortlessly throughout the venue with slightly different vibes in each room to ensure guests always felt welcomed, engaged, and included.

Leah and Blake got engaged on a Sunday evening in Nashville, where they were both pursuing graduate-level studies at Vanderbilt. Their engagement was a private moment as the sun was setting, but absolutely filled with joy. They went on an engagement-moon to Rocky Mountain National Park to celebrate, and shared the news publicly upon their return. It was as sweet as can be.

At the beginning of dress shopping, Leah tried on her grandmother’s wedding dress that both her mom and aunt wore for their own weddings. It was so special, but it wasn’t quite right for Leah’s ceremony, so she wore the dress to her rehearsal dinner downtown, surrounded by family, and it was so sentimental. Leah’s wedding gown choice was no less sentimental – she interned with a non-profit in high school called Cherie Sustainable Bridal, and ended up being able to return to her roots and find her dress at an organization she already cared so much about!

Pippin Hill Farm is known for its bespoke wedding menus, and Leah and Blake’s wedding was no different. Their 215 guests spread throughout the venue and enjoyed stations of southern cuisine, a variety of pastas, and a station of traditional beef tenderloin and cozy side dishes. There was something for everyone! The full bar was complemented with signature cocktails – (His) Maker Happy – Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Red Pump Red Wine, Lemon, Simple Syrup (Hers) Summer Sangria- Rose, Elderflower Liqueur, Seasonal Fruit

Tupelo Floral Co. took the pastel, floral-forward design and brought it to life. At Christ Episcopal Church, we hung wreaths of the wedding colors around the front doors that complemented the bridesmaids’ bouquets. At Pippin Hill, guests were greeted with floral baskets at the entrance to the veranda, along with disc golf disks the groom designed himself, using the wedding crest. The big design moments were in the Granary for the reception. Guests walked through a lush floral arch to be greeted by the expertly designed wedding cake, hanging greenery and florals, and a varied reception with three different table designs. Anchoring the reception design was a 16′ oval bar and a matching stage facade for the band, provided by Paisley & Jade.

Cakes by Rachel took this pastel, whimsical summer design and brought it to life in the wedding cake. Knowing this masterpiece deserved to shine, we placed it at the entrance to the granary so every guest saw the work of art with sugar flowers that perfectly matched the design of the day.

If you asked Leah and Blake throughout the planning process what they were most excited about, they always answered that they were excited to marry each other and exchange vows while surrounded by loved ones. The design of their day was so incredibly fun, it flowed impeccably, and yet the root of the entire event stayed with Leah and Blake and their marriage.

The Groom was an active disc golf player in college at UVA, and the wedding favor was custom discs with their wedding crest. We set up a disc golf area on the lawn at Pippin Hill, and with the late summer sunset, it was a popular activity throughout the event.

Leah’s brother surprised guests at the end of cocktail hour with a bagpipe performance, starting in the vines of the vineyard.

Muted tones were complemented by statement floral accents, creating depth and natural movement, while a simple silk ribbon wrap finished the stems with understated elegance.

For the ceremony, floral moments framed the space with purpose and balance. Arrangements anchored the aisle behind the ceremony chairs, welcoming guests and later transitioning seamlessly into the reception. At the altar, a lush, cascading installation featured a series of large arrangements placed on and below pillars, composed at varying heights for an asymmetrically balanced look. Variations in bloom size, color, and texture channeled a sense of naturally wild elegance, grounded by smaller arrangements at the base.

At the reception, guest tables were styled with wildly elegant centerpieces displayed in footed compote vases, blending lush florals with trailing foliage for an organic, romantic tablescape. The head table featured a layered approach, combining petite floral arrangements with delicate bud vases to create an intimate, thoughtfully styled focal point that felt cohesive, inviting, and effortlessly refined.[/field]

Blue Plate was the perfect catering match for Christine & Blake, and they knew to start the wedding celebration off strong during cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres that pleased all palettes, from tacos to chicken skewers to vegetarian maki. The dinner service was a plated three-course meal that started with a mini charcuterie board for each guest, architecturally placed on each plate. Then, before the sweet treats were ready to grab, guests were served their choice of a petite tenderloin with the classic fixings, a lemon and olive oil chicken breast paired with mashed potatoes and broccoli, or a truffle gnocchi topped with a fennel fondue.

A gorgeous neutral palette was decided, which celebrated the use of negative space, giving the florals purposeful movement. Textural spider gerbera daisies filled long guest tables – and the ceremony at the base of the Women’s Board Staircas, with all of their loved ones literally surrounding them, was beyond breathtaking. Watching Christine enter through the stairs was incredibly special as her brother officiated their wedding.

A Fashion-Forward Wedding at the California Academy of Sciences with Bold, Artful Style

Knowing that their stylish guest list would arrive in wildly inventive, fashion-forward ensembles, the couple opted for a neutral ceremony palette to allow their loved ones—and the venue—to truly shine. Because the California Academy of Sciences features striking architectural elements of concrete and glass alongside lush, leafy environments, the wedding day palette focused on soft, organic shades of green, cream, white, and blush. However, the couple loves a moment of contrast. For the Welcome Party and the wedding cocktail hour, the vibe shifted dramatically to a bold, vibrant explosion of bright reds, pinks, yellows, blues, and oranges. These saturated hues were designed to complement the art-filled interiors of the Vita Brevis Club and the glowing tanks of the Academy’s aquarium, mirroring the daring fashions that filled the halls.

With Vinney being a true fashion aficionado, the guests knew the sartorial bar would be set incredibly high—with many guests sharing stories of how long it took them to dress for the event! Consequently, the design centered around creating a canvas that would complement the guests’ avant-garde silhouettes. The goal was to weave an aesthetic thread through the venue’s diverse spaces, merging the art-filled, architectural structures with the plant-filled, living environments for an experience that felt immersive and editorial.

In July 2024, Andy whisked Vinney away on a European summer adventure, visiting Paris, Madeira, and Lisbon. Behind the scenes, there was a bit of drama: the custom-made, east-west set emerald cut engagement ring was almost not finished in time. Andy had nearly resigned himself to proposing with a ring pop, but he managed to secure the ring on the very morning of their departure. While Vinney suspected a Parisian proposal, Andy—never one for clichés—had a different plan. He chose a hike on the island of Madeira, tapping into a cherished hobby the couple shares. The trek was treacherous and breathtaking, winding up narrow trails lined with steel cables and steep drop-offs, but softened by lush wildflowers and buzzing bees. When they reached the summit, sitting high above the clouds, Andy found a secluded spot off the trail for lunch. As they took in the view, he began reflecting on their journey together before pulling out the ring. It was an immediate, tearful, and enthusiastic “yes” on top of the world.

While he once used clothing to hide his identity, he now uses it to celebrate it, having been featured in Vogue for the statement looks he wears to galas supporting arts organizations that the couple love. It was at one such gala that he and Andy first noticed the work of San Francisco-based designer Jad Racha, whose designs adorned the most elegant attendees. They connected instantly and promised to collaborate one day. When it came time for the wedding, the couple immediately tapped Jad Racha to design bespoke ensembles for the ceremony. Vinney’s vision called for architectural asymmetry, length, and high drama, while Andy opted for clean, classic lines elevated by subtle embellishment. Over months of collaboration, they created two unforgettable, distinct silhouettes that harmonized perfectly. A true creative, Vinney also took to the sewing machine himself, utilizing his own design skills (with help from family and friends) to create his own custom looks for the Welcome Party and the reception.

After finding traditional tastings uninspiring, they discovered Chef Dov at California Rose Catering & Events. Chef Dov embraced their love for spice and texture, dreaming up an eclectic, Asian-fusion family-style feast. The menu was a gastronomic journey featuring duck confit summer rolls, soup dumplings, gochujang tofu lettuce cups, nam prik salmon with spicy fish sauce, and green curry short ribs. The crowd favorite, however, was the delightfully bouncy garlic noodles. The experience ended with an equally inventive dessert buffet of matcha cheesecake, pecan pies, black sesame cookies, and coconut mango tapioca. To ensure the party never stopped, the grooms prioritized efficiency at the bar, hiring experienced staff from Bartenders Unlimited and developing a pre-batched, high-craft cocktail program. In a cheeky nod to Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love,” the signature drinks included “Andy’s Swervin’ On That Negroni” and “Vinney’s Surfboardt Aperol Spritz,” alongside tributes to their dogs: “Olly’s We Be All Night Espresso Martini” and “Sunny’s I Want You, NA NA (non-alcoholic) Peach Mule.”

The dinner reception shifted to a minimalist aesthetic inspired by Ikebana traditions. These restrained, elegant arrangements ensured there was ample room on the tables for the generous, family-style platters of food to be shared and enjoyed.[/field]

Breaking with tradition, the grooms bypassed a tiered cake in favor of a curated dessert buffet. Guests treated themselves to bite-sized matcha cheesecakes, Asian-inspired cookies, and velvety tapioca puddings topped with fresh tropical fruit.

The ceremony’s emotional peak came during the vows. Vinney fought back happy tears to sing a portion of “Gratitude” by Above & Beyond. The song holds profound meaning for the pair, as they are not only Andy’s favorite artists, but it was also at an Above & Beyond concert that the couple first said, “I love you.”[/field]

The Welcome Party was a full-circle moment, held at the Vita Brevis Club where the couple first met. Andy is an investor in the private art club, and Vinney knew the owner, Matthew Kimball, through the local music scene. Matthew had asked Vinney to sing at one of the club’s early membership drive dinners. Andy and Vinney were seated next to each other that night, and the rest is beautiful history.

I found my gown at Bella Bianca Bridal Couture during a girls’ trip to Chicago with my Mom. I wanted something that felt classic, and I fell in love with the taffeta fabric of my dress. I chose a classic Sareh Nouri ball gown, but had them remove the tulle from the skirt and add tulle detailing instead of the original sleeves.

We used Chowgirls catering for the food and bar! Having great food that tasted amazing was important to us, given our desire to make people feel like they were being welcomed over for a fantastic dinner party. Plus, we all love to cook! Chowgirls completely delivered. As for the bar, of course,e we had to have our signature cocktails. Mine was a Hugo sprit,z and Mike chose a classic old-fashioned. For an NA option, my brother (who works in the beverage industry) made a giant batch of rhubarb syrup from the rhubarb in his garden. Chowgirls added it to pink lemonade and topped it with a sprig of rosemary for an adorable mocktail.

The florals stood out as one of my favorite parts of the day! Our florist, Amy from MillerHouse Flowers, turned the tables, tent, and bars into floral visions. The residence already had a beautiful backdrop of abundant hydrangea,s so we leaned into those and other seasonal flowers. I’d always loved Lily of the Valley bouquets, but Amy suggested Pieris Japonica as a seasonal alternative, and it turned out beautifully! We said our vows under an arch adorned with locally grown white lisianthus, meant to mimic a lush garden rose climbing over a trellis, and we filled rattan baskets with bunches of beautiful flowers that looked like they had just been plucked from the garden for the aisle. Our seating signs were also arranged into ginger jars from Mike’s mom’s collection, filled with bunches of flowers. Queen Anne’s lace, cosmos, and delphinium danced in the breeze down guest tables, winding between fluted hurricanes that added a special touch to the candlelight.

As a fun DIY activity, Mike and I embroidered our couple’s monogram on every single guest’s napkin! It was way more work than anticipated, but it paid off to see them laid out on the tables on the big day. Now we also have napkins for life! Furthermore, my now mother-in-law was kind enough to sew table runners and pillows to decorate the tables and chairs with. We picked out the fabrics together, and she crafted amazing touches that made the wedding feel so personal to us.

La Dolce Vita in Pink: An Italian-Inspired Wedding Infused with Personal Heirlooms

After spending the summer of 2024 in Italy completing her master’s degree, Sydney returned to the U.S. brimming with European inspiration. Growing up listening to Dean Martin with her father and embracing a newfound desire to live truly “La Dolce Vita,” she envisioned an Italian-inspired wedding, with a signature twist of pink! The color palette was chosen to create a high-energy, joyful atmosphere, focusing on an upbeat, celebratory feel. A special detail woven throughout the flat lays was that nearly all of the items were pieces Sydney had collected during her time in Italy. She included Italian stamps, vintage postcards, and her favorite treasures – two wax seals sourced in Venice from a multigenerational Venetian stationery shop. Each seal was hand-carved from gondola wood: one bearing the symbol of Florence, where Sydney’s apartment was located, and the other featuring an ornate “W,” a beautiful nod to her soon-to-be last name.

Aubrey had originally planned to propose during a family trip to Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and the Tetons at Christmas, choosing the scenic Soldier’s Chapel as the perfect backdrop. When the Air Force unexpectedly canceled his promised time off, he knew he needed to act quickly as he would soon be leaving for training in Alabama and might not see Sydney until January. Knowing Sydney dreams of designing hotels and resorts, Aubrey and her father arranged a special stay at a beautiful new hotel in Tennessee, opening under Dolly Parton’s guidance. They secured reservations before the grand opening, giving them the rare opportunity to experience the hotel almost entirely to themselves. Aubrey proposed outside the Heartsong that evening, creating a private and unforgettable moment. The story had a second happy ending: the Air Force later reinstated his Christmas time off, allowing Aubrey to surprise Sydney by returning home on Christmas Eve and joining her family’s trip two days later, where they finally visited the Soldier’s Chapel, the original proposal spot!

When Sydney began planning her wedding, she focused on a few elements that were most important to her, with the dress at the very top of the list. After years of research, she knew Iconic Bride in Dallas carried the designers she loved most, including the Nicole and Felicia style #NF043 that she wanted to try on. She fell in love with the material and waistline but preferred a higher neckline than the scoop design offered. The Iconic team went above and beyond, bringing out toppers and gloves in the most stunning lace to help her achieve the look she envisioned. When she mentioned wanting a different neckline, they immediately suggested a cat-eye style and arranged for Nicole and Felicia to create it. They also customized the topper with the lace she loved and added length to the train exactly to her specifications, showing her what various lengths would look like with a measuring tape. A sparkling veil by Leah da Gloria completed the ensemble, perfectly matched to her extended train. Sydney’s final ceremony look combined three designers: a Nicole and Felicia dress, a Lee Petra Grebenau topper, and a Leah da Gloria veil. She later changed into an off-the-shoulder Maggie Sottero gown to dance the night away with her guests.

The menu featured Tagliata di Manzo alla Puttanesca as the steak selection, classic Cacio e Pepe, Rigatoni in a creamy tomato–Parmesan sauce with grilled chicken, and a rich, velvety risotto. Each dish was served alongside fresh salad and warm bread. During cocktail hour, guests were welcomed with an abundant spread of the couple’s favorite small bites—an offering they later admitted they were heartbroken not to enjoy. The display included an array of artisanal breads with olive oil, a selection of cured Italian meats, cascading grapes, and the star of the table: Prosciutto Serrano al Coltello, hand-carved directly from the bone. The accompaniments added both beauty and depth of flavor, with offerings such as fig jam, dried apricots, truffle honey, and a variety of cheeses. The bride was intentional about ensuring the cocktail hour display felt distinctly Italian rather than resembling a traditional charcuterie board. She wanted it to reflect the effortless elegance found in Italy, where artistry is expressed through thoughtful restraint. Instead of filling every inch of the table or stacking elements tightly together, the foods were spaced with care, creating a sense of airiness and allowing guests to graze leisurely. The result was a presentation that guests paused, admired, and savored each option without feeling crowded or overwhelmed.

The floral installations throughout the venue, including the arches and table arrangements, were created by Gabrielle Bush. The bride’s bouquet and the bridesmaids’ flowers were thoughtfully designed by Rosemary Bray and Charlotte Helton. Much of the décor was personally collected by the bride over the course of a year, resulting in many different pieces that all felt personalized to her style. Notable pieces included pewter horse heads that added a striking touch to the grazing table, antique silver trays incorporated throughout the space, and an antique glass coffee carafe set on a silver stand, used to serve the abundant olive oil for dipping bread. The combination of meaningful, bright florals and carefully sourced décor created an atmosphere that felt carefully curated and full of vibrant energy. One of the most charming floral details was the pearl-handled floral clutch. Wanting something more unique and refined than a traditional corsage for the women in her processional, the bride chose these elegant handheld arrangements. The grandmothers and the mother of the groom carried pearl-handled clutches filled with vibrant blooms, creating a delicate and stylish alternative. The mother of the bride carried a petite bouquet crafted from the same flowers featured in the bride’s own arrangement, adding a meaningful touch of cohesion.

The wedding cake was a gift from a beloved family friend. Five tiers featured four delicious flavors! White almond, strawberry, chocolate, and a standout Butterbeer (both Aubrey and Sydney are true Gryffindoors!) barely leave the couple a chance to sample it themselves.

The accordion player set the tone at the guest book, playing classic Dean Martin songs as guests arrived at the venue. For the ceremony, a pianist and violinist performed instrumental versions of beloved Disney songs from original princess movies, including: Part of Your World, A Whole New World, Some Day My Prince Will Come, and A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes. Sydney walked down the aisle to The Goodness of God, and for the recessional, the mood shifted to celebration with “That’s Amore,” accompanied by accordion, piano, and violin. During cocktail hour, the accordion provided a lively Italian soundtrack on the patio, while a DJ filled the indoor space with a similarly warm, festive ambiance. The bride and her father danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, another favorite, before suddenly transitioning to a faster pace with “Without Me” by Eminem. They finished with none other than the iconic “Rasputin” dance from Just Dance 2 (2010)

Guests raved about the delicious flavors and returned for more throughout the evening.

An olive oil cart, which doubled as a seating chart and favors. The groom handcrafted a wooden cart from scratch after the bride showed him an inspirational photo she loved. Positioned at the entrance beside the guest book, the cart displayed the personalized olive oil favors, each bottle hand-poured and sealed by the bride and her mother, and finished with a tag featuring every guest’s name and table number.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Around 9:30 p.m., as the dance floor hit its peak, an outdoor pizza oven opened to offer guests a much-needed burst of energy. A variety of toppings were available, and the pizza team even crafted a heart-shaped pizza for Sydney and Aubrey to enjoy in a quick moment between dances. It was a charmingly delicious Italian finale to an already unforgettable night.

A Multi-Day Indian Wedding in California Wine Country with Sunlit Haldi Hues a Candlelit Vineyard Reception

The wedding weekend unfolded through a thoughtfully curated palette that evolved with each celebration. The Haldi and Mehendi embraced marigold yellow as the hero hue, accented by soft pinks, warm oranges, and fresh greens for a look that felt joyful, sunlit, and celebratory. Our ceremony design embraced the natural beauty of the California vineyards. We chose a grounded floral arch, designed to stretch the full width of the aisle, creating a feeling of being surrounded by flowers without overwhelming the space. The aesthetic was refined and minimal, with soft, sun-washed neutrals, peaches, sage greens, and ivory that blended into the landscape rather than competing with it. The entrance of the mandap featured bowls of strung jasmine for guests to tuck into their hair, a gentle gesture of South Indian tradition woven into the moment. The mandap itself was designed to feel intentional and serene, a modern homage to South Indian minimalism.

Haldi & Mehendi – Garden Party Meets Haldi Celebration For the Haldi and Mehendi, the couple envisioned an atmosphere that felt bright, playful, and deeply rooted in togetherness. Designed as a joyful celebration of color, laughter, and family, the space transformed into a sun-soaked garden moment at the Ravenswood Historic Site. Fresh citrus, marigold garlands, trailing vines, and grounded floral arrangements brought warmth and texture to the gazebo, while the vibrant yellow palette layered with touches of pink, orange, and green felt both earthy and elegant. The result was a celebration that honored cultural tradition while embracing a relaxed, vintage California outdoor sensibility. Ceremony – South Indian Vineyard Romance Set against the natural beauty of Wente Vineyards, the ceremony design embraced restraint, intention, and serenity. A grounded floral arch stretched the full width of the aisle, creating the feeling of being surrounded by blooms without overwhelming the space. Soft peaches, sage greens, and sun-washed neutrals blended effortlessly into the vineyard landscape. As a meaningful nod to South Indian tradition, guests were welcomed with bowls of strung jasmine to tuck into their hair. The mandap itself was minimal and refined, a modern homage to South Indian design that allowed the rituals to take center stage. Reception – Starry Night Garden Gathering As the sun set, the vineyard transformed into a glowing evening celebration under the stars. The reception design centered on warmth, texture, and candlelight. Tables were styled with white florals, greenery, soft peach accents, and clusters of green grapes, paired with tall taper candles and glowing votives. Above the dance floor, twinkle lights formed a starry-sky canopy, creating an atmosphere that felt cinematic yet inviting. The overall effect was modern and romantic, refined but deeply welcoming, a garden gathering that felt both elevated and heartfelt.

Ashwin planned what felt like a spontaneous fall weekend getaway, a quiet road trip from Chicago to South Haven, Michigan. Priyanka, who grew up in Michigan, had always said Lake Michigan was her favorite place in the world. They stayed in a cozy Airbnb tucked among trees turning shades of gold and amber, cooked dinner together, and spent the evening wrapped in blankets and movie glow. The next morning, standing along the edge of the lake with the wind soft and the waves steady, Ashwin got down on one knee and proposed. The rest of the weekend unfolded into joyful surprises: a local winery visit, late-night board games, and heartfelt celebrations with friends who traveled from near and far to share the moment.

Inspired by her great-grandmother, Lakshmi Amma, granddaughter of philanthropist Raja Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar, Priyanka paired the saree with a regal high-neck blouse and heirloom temple jewelry. Her hair was styled in a sleek, center-parted bun wrapped in jasmine, completing a timeless South Indian bridal look that felt both powerful and deeply sentimental.

For the Haldi and Mehendi celebrations, the couple wore custom-designed ensembles by Anushree Reddy, chosen for their playful elegance and garden-inspired detailing. The colors and embroidery were selected to complement the bright outdoor setting and celebratory palette.

For the reception, Priyanka changed into a hand-embroidered lehenga by Varun Chakkilam, designed to catch the candlelight and glow under the evening sky. The look felt modern, elegant, and effortlessly romantic as the celebration carried into the night.

Ashwin embraced traditional South Indian attire for the ceremony, wearing a silk ivory kurta paired with a silk panchakacham styled in true Tamil fashion. Finished with a gold zari border, the look complemented Priyanka’s Kanjivaram saree beautifully. The groomsmen wore matching sage green kurtas with dhoti-style pants, a tribute to South Indian heritage that echoed the bridesmaids’ palette and created a cohesive visual balance. Each kurta featured hand-done embroidery custom-designed virtually with Paarsh, a menswear boutique in Kolkata—traditional, personal, and thoughtfully crafted.

For the reception, Ashwin changed into a classic black tuxedo, keeping the look timeless and refined as the evening transitioned into celebration.[/field]

Our maids of honor wore warm ivory, creating a soft highlight. The result was cohesive, graceful, and deeply personal. Each woman looked like herself, yet together they formed the dreamiest wash of green textures and movement.

The food and drinks felt fun, relaxed, and joyfully summed up exactly the energy we wanted for the afternoon. The wedding day began with a warm, comforting breakfast reminiscent of mornings in Chennai, such as soft idlis, crisp vadas, and steaming filter coffee. Lunch was filled with home-cooked flavors that invited everyone to slow down and savor. By evening, the reception shifted into a California meets India menu, with vibrant small plates like peri peri paneer tikka and lotus root chaat passed during cocktail hour. Dinner featured familiar favorites elevated with a fresh, West Coast sensibility – pesto naan alongside creamy curries and slow-simmered dals layered with herbs and warmth. To close, guests enjoyed a trio of playful, modern desserts, a sweet finish to a day that moved from nostalgic comfort to contemporary celebration. The Chi-Tini, with lychee and lime, was a playful nod to where we’ve built our life together in Chicago. For guests looking for something non-alcoholic, the Cranberry Fizz and Pakka Local Punch brought the same warmth and color, ensuring everyone had something festive in hand. It felt like the perfect blend of Mumbai, Madras, and Chicago gathered into one joyful toast.

Working with Fluid Blooms, we focused on grounded arrangements, airy movement, and a palette of soft greens, peaches, blush, and ivory that echoed the vineyard around us. Just as important as the aesthetic was the intention behind it, we were committed to minimizing waste and ensuring that each arrangement had a second life throughout the day. Fluid Blooms thoughtfully designed every piece to be repurposed wherever it made sense, transitioning florals from the Mehendi to the Haldi, from the mandap to the welcome table, and finally into our reception tablescape, allowing the flowers to tell one continuous story from morning through night. It was a reminder of the importance of choosing vendors who share your values. Nikki went above and beyond to honor our vision, making the décor not only beautiful, but meaningful and quietly sustainable.[/field]
