A Modern Winery Wedding with Soft Rose and Sage Details

The overall vision for this styled shoot was refined, approachable luxury. Rustic Roots Winery, a fairly new venue in Minnesota, upgraded its event space with a large window-wall frame tent that inspired us to design something more luxe than the tent weddings often hosted in northern Minnesota (not many venues in our market offer this tent style). We embraced a modern-luxe-garden-party aesthetic by blending the feeling of a light and airy outdoor wedding with romantic vintage accents such as the patterned linen and crystal glassware, and bold modern details like drapery and a checkered dance floor. HappiLily Events drew inspiration for the design from the Cora Rosewood linen from BBJ, which features a floral print that distinctly blends old-fashioned elegance and modern appeal. We pulled color inspiration from this linen, leaning into soft shades of greens and subtle rose tones in the overall design, paired with creamy ivory, sandstone, and taupe for a classic feel. All of the dramatic, luxurious elements we brought in were balanced by the natural beauty of the surrounding vineyard, and the result felt both ethereal and regal.

For bridal styling, our model wore two high-society-inspired gowns from Ivory Bridal Co., both designed by Divine Atelier. We chose each dress because the designs felt both classic and couture. Our bride wore the gown Miller for the ceremony. This dress felt light and ethereal, perfect for a vineyard setting. The dress featured a fit-and-flare silhouette with a V-neck, airy tulle sleeves, and an alluring cut-out just above the belly button. The reception gown was Danielle’s. This gown brought more drama and sultry flair, with an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline and a sleek skirt with elegant ruching and a dramatic leg slit.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Our groom’s attire was from Generation Tux. For the ceremony, he wore a classic black tux and bowtie. Our reception shoot had the groom in a white dinner jacket for a more modern high-end look.

The design came to life through an abundance of lush, colorful florals, balanced with statement details like dark green velvet drapery, elegant chandeliers, and a checkered dance floor. Floral arrangements were designed by June, and Jane Flower Co. Many of the flowers used were grown on their own flower farm and sourced locally. For a super chic, garden party vibe, florals featured pops of pinks and soft apricot, along with brighter greenery. To balance the more whimsical and colorful florals in the event design, the bouquet and boutonniere were kept classic and elegant, consisting only of white orchids. Tables were designed to feel like a garden in full bloom. The head table featured tightly spaced compote bowls, which created the look of a fluffy garland with lots of natural movement and height. The combination of lush florals and greenery was intentionally designed to feel wild, whimsical, and sophisticated at the same time. We mixed in a variety of votives, taper candles,s and pillar candles in rose pink, ivory, and sandstone to complete the centerpieces. Rather than competing with the patterned table linen, the florals and candles played into the color palette perfectly and brightened the look. Place settings featured rentalwares from BBJ La Tavola, Apres Party, and Linen Effects. Vintage-inspired plateware featured a subtle floral pattern that enhanced the garden party aesthetic, and cut-crystal glassware perfectly reflected the light. Striped napkins on the head table felt fresh and fun, while guest table napkins matched the head table linen for a cohesive look. The overhead chandeliers and drapery from We’ve Got It Covered added warmth and created a sense of intimacy within the grand space. Paper goods, designed by St. Croix Designs, echoed the overall aesthetic with shades of pink and green in tasteful stripe patterns and floral prints. The delightful balance between patterns created an elegant and playful aesthetic, perfectly suited to our luxe-garden-party vision!

The cake was a true focal point of our design! Hey there, Cupcake designed a tower wedding cake that stood taller than the couple. With six oversized tiers, the cake felt both architectural and romantic. We incorporated the cake into the overall design by staging it on a round platform, accented by bright florals and earthy greenery. With the already dramatically tall cake and the added height of the platform, the cake became a statement in the design.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]As an alternative to the venue’s typical ceremony location, a permanent pergola structure on the hill, we staged the ceremony in the vineyard; the goal was to inspire couples with a unique idea for their ceremony. Our ceremony was set on a pedestal stage surrounded by florals and a backdrop of billowing drapery, which felt very ethereal and romantic. The statement floral urns felt timelessly elegant and alluded to classic luxury.

Sheer white drapery framed the tent’s main entrance, giving a soft and romantic feel to the space. As you enter the reception tent, your eye catches the dramatic green velvet drapery that frames the couple’s chairs at the head table. Dark green may be considered a more “risky” shade for design, especially in such a heavy element like drapery, but paired with lighter-colored linens and brightened with chandeliers, it truly added a luxurious and sophisticated touch to the design! Drapery and chandeliers were provided by We’ve Got It Covered.

Where California Sunshine Meets Lush Greens and Open-Air Elegance

The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe provided the perfect backdrop, with its rich green interiors and refined yet relaxed atmosphere. Tables were set with cane back chairs, black and white patterned dinnerware and gold flatware to emphasize the classic aesthetic of the day. The couple added personal touches with the [/field]

One afternoon, Dalton decided to take his motorcycle out and explore a few local breweries in San Diego. He grabbed a seat at the bar and quickly found himself in conversation with the woman across from him, who happened to be Sarah’s Aunt Jennifer.
Within minutes, Jennifer was asking him just about everything, determined to get the full picture of who he was & what he was about. Then came the question she had clearly been building toward: “Are you single?” Slightly caught off guard, Dalton told her he was.
That simple answer set Jennifer’s real plan in motion, introducing him to her niece, Sarah. He gave her his number, Sarah worked up the confidence to reach out, and they connected right away.

Personal Proposal story from Sarah: “After a few hiccups in the secret keeping process and Dalton’s excitement getting the best of him, I accidentally found out almost every detail of the proposal, even down to the exact day. Somehow, it still felt completely magical and more perfect than I could have imagined.

The day started with one of our favorite things, playing cards. Dalton kept joking, “Winner gets engaged!” and somehow, we both won.

From there, he took me to Windansea Beach, where he proposed with a bottle of bubbly waiting for us. Afterward, we celebrated with a catamaran ride with our families, which made it all feel even more meaningful. The day ended with a surprise engagement party at my parents’ home in Del Mar, complete with a taco truck, and it truly felt like the most joyful, perfectly us kind of celebration.”[/field]

To end the evening, Sarah & Dalton treated their guests to a delicious dessert with an authentic Italian gelato cart.[/field]

Midway through the celebration, Dalton shaved his beard into a mustache. It was an unexpected moment that perfectly captured their sense of humor & playful personalities.[/field]

Cane details, soft linens, and woven lighting layered with lush greenery brought an organic, European conservatory feel, while the floral palette of creamy whites, soft greens, and subtle plum tones added depth and quiet romance. The reception tables felt effortlessly abundant with airy, meadow-inspired arrangements and glowing glass candlelight, striking a balance between refinement and relaxed beauty. Altogether, the aesthetic read as timeless, textural, and quietly luxurious — a modern take on garden romance with a hint of old-world charm.

Each guest was welcomed with a Jo Malone gift, a sensory detail that refined the experience and transformed the table into more than a visual moment—it became a memory tied to scent, touch, and emotion.

The result was cinematic: the space glowed from below, illuminating faces, florals, and textures in a way that felt immersive and new. This concept redefined outdoor wedding lighting—bringing the inside outside while creating a signature moment for couples seeking something truly original.

At the heart of the celebration stood a one-meter-long cake, adorned with fresh flowers and fruits—abundant, natural, and unapologetically bold. Behind them, a projector played same-day moments, transforming the cake cutting into a cinematic experience—nostalgic, emotional, and deeply personal. A champagne moment followed, sealing the celebration with sparkle, joy, and timeless elegance.

A Romantic Garden Wedding with Painterly Florals and European Elegance at Wainwright House

The vision for the day centered on creating an atmosphere that felt artful, intimate, and quietly striking. Inspired by the romance of European garden entertaining, the design used color as a form of storytelling – layered corals, apricots, blush tones, and vivid pinks woven together in a tonal, painterly way rather than bold contrast. Every element was selected to feel intentional yet effortless: textural linens, scalloped details, candlelight, and abundant florals that felt composed but never rigid. The goal was to balance refinement with warmth, creating a setting that felt elevated yet inviting. The overall mood was romantic and transportive, with a sense of ease that encouraged guests to linger, connect, and fully take in the celebration.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]The proposal took place at Compo Beach in Westport, Connecticut, just down the street from the bride’s family home, making it meaningful from the very start. Under the guise of a quick glass of wine on the beach before dinner at one of her favorite local restaurants, the bride suggested a sunset stop by the water to celebrate the start of summer.

As they arrived with wine in hand, the bride noticed a beautifully arranged setup in the sand and commented on how special it was that someone might be getting proposed to – even suggesting they sit nearby to witness the moment. In a perfectly timed twist, she soon realized the proposal she was admiring was her own.[/field]

The bride wore a custom lace gown designed in collaboration with Nardos and her team, transforming a runway sample into a fully bespoke piece. While the original design featured a semi-sheer bodice and tea-length hem, the final gown was reimagined to feel timeless, refined, and uniquely hers. For the reception, she changed into a silk deep-V backless gown by Michael Lo Sordo and made a memorable re-entrance by limboing under a band member’s trumpet, an unforgettable moment that signaled the start of the dance floor celebration.

Dinner began with a burrata salad featuring heirloom tomatoes, grilled nectarines, and balsamic for a balance of sweetness and depth. Guests chose between two mains: split roasted Amish chicken with fragrant herb jus, tri-color cauliflower, and silky potato purée, or slow-braised short ribs with blackened asparagus, potato purée, and lemon zest.

Cocktail hour featured an abundant array of small bites, including lobster rolls, Maryland crab cakes, short rib bites, five-cheese mac and cheese, deconstructed elote, ahi tuna tartare, Swiss chard and goat cheese tartlets, black sesame chicken, and smash burgers. Signature cocktails included a vodka dirty martini with blue cheese olives and a blackberry elderflower smash, with a dedicated espresso martini bar adding a late-night boost.[/field]

Florals defined the atmosphere of the day, bringing color, movement, and artistry to the celebration. Designed in layered tones of coral, apricot, blush, and vibrant pink, the arrangements felt painterly and expressive. Dahlias, ranunculus, roses, and orchids were composed into lush, low centerpieces that encouraged conversation across the table. Clear hurricanes and taper candles added height and glow, while bud vases and votives created a soft flicker of light throughout. Textured linens, scalloped china, and tinted glassware complemented the florals without competing for attention. The result was romantic and polished – richly colored yet airy, and deeply inviting.

They ultimately selected a three-tier strawberry shortcake with vanilla buttercream, decorated with fresh florals to mirror the tablescape. Keeping the cake light allowed room for additional treats, including mini chocolate mousse pots, mini ice cream cones, and s’mores tartlets served directly on the dance floor.[/field]

The bride walked down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun,” a lifelong favorite. She even joked about hiring an “Etsy witch” to guarantee good weather for the outdoor event, a running joke throughout the weekend. Whether by spell or by luck, the day arrived unseasonably warm and sunny for early October, making the moment feel all the more magical.

One of the most personal design moments was the custom bar, wrapped in the same floral motif used on the invitations to create a cohesive visual narrative. Scaling the artwork transformed it from a paper detail into an immersive design feature, seamlessly tying together stationery and décor. The bar served as both a functional gathering place and a subtle focal point, reinforcing the thoughtfulness behind every detail.

Arl and Amanda’s love story began in a place characterized by its ability to create and foster passionate romances, known to many as “high school.” The beginning of their story is full of gems of teenage awkwardness, like taking each other to dances, driving each other to get #2 pencils the night before standardized testing, and overstaying their welcome at places like Dos Coyotes or Wing Stop. After spending so much time together, Earl realized on Super Bowl Sunday in 2014 that he had quite a catch, so it was prime time to “put a label on it” and ask Amanda to officially be his girlfriend. The two of them began to be inseparable during the rest of their time in high school, and they created great memories together along with friends and family. Who knew Eagles could be love birds? Earl went off to play football in college on the East Coast, and Amanda went off to school a year later at the “H*rvard of the West” in Chico. Whatever you’ve heard about long-distance relationships being difficult is baloney! All you have to do is fly to the opposite side of the country to visit your partner once a month, maximize time together during holiday breaks, stay up to talk to your partner who’s three hours behind every night, have Edible Arrangements and Flower.com coupons on hand at all times, and get really, really really efficient at airport goodbyes before they tell you to move your car. Easy peasy. When not thinking about each other, Earl and Amanda otherwise spent time in college preparing for their future careers. Amanda had her sights set on being a teacher and entering a credential program, and Earl had his sights set on medical school. They supported each other’s endeavors the whole way, even and especially when apart. (You just said “aww,” didn’t you ;-) After college, Amanda entered into a teaching credential program and subsequently began teaching near home in Folsom, CA. Earl began medical school in Chicago around the same time, entering his Midwest Era. Amanda was crushing it in the classroom, winning district awards and setting up the youth of America for success. Earl, not to be outdone, joined a flag football league, rediscovered his love for deep dish pizza, and finished The Wire. Fortunately for Earl, Amanda was able to visit Chicago several times, and they were able to continue to add memories and new experiences to their love story. Chicago will always be a special chapter in Amanda and Earl’s story. After a few years of visiting Earl, Amanda was able to move to the Windy City. Finally, the two of them were again living in the same place. Whether it was exploring Logan Square, trying new restaurants (s/o Mi Tocaya and Ramen Wasabi; iykyk), laughing their tails off at Second City, spending time with friends, sharing the tradition of Malört, taking visitors to the Bean, taking visitors to the Bean, or taking visitors to the Bean, they loved every second of their time together. Just don’t ask Amanda about the winter. After 20th grade, Earl finally got a job. He and Amanda moved together to San Francisco to write their next chapter. In the city, Amanda teaches 4th grade, and Earl is a pediatrician. Having created years and years of memories and shared countless laughs, Earl decided to make the easiest decision of his life: to ask Amanda to marry him. June 30th, 202,3 was a beautiful day. Earl had spent months planning and coordinating with friends and family, and Amanda had no idea. He had figured out when and where to pick up the ring, and she had no idea. He had chosen a perfect spot and found a photographer for the occasion, and—even then—she had no idea. But the “one time” he picks out an outfit without her input to head to a surprise dinner reservation, and suddenly she knows something’s up… They leave together, er and Amanda has the cutest, knowingest smile on her face the whole way there. They arrive at the Palace of Fine Arts. They get to the perfect spot. She says yes, he gets down on one knee, she says yes, he asks, she says yes again and again and again. (It really happened in this order lol proposal nerves are *crazy*!) Skip a few pages forward, and we get to the present. We’re planning the wedding of our dreams and reminiscing about all the amazing times and incredible people who’ve been so important in our story. A Chic Wedding with Lavish White Blooms and Playful Personal Touches at Azuridge Estate Hotel

It was really important to both of us that our wedding felt timeless and classic — the kind of day we could look back on twenty years from now without cringing at a single design decision. We steered away from anything too trendy and instead leaned into lavish florals, soft drapery, and subtle personal touches that told our story. Some of our favorite details included cocktail napkins featuring our dog Archie, a Taylor Swift quote reading “At Every Table I’ll Save You A Seat” on our seating chart, and our honeymoon destinations used in place of traditional table numbers.

Taylor had been planning to propose during our New Year’s trip to Laguna Beach — but the universe had other plans! We both came down with a terrible bout of food poisoning on the first night, leaving us completely out of commission for three days. Looking back, it was actually the perfect distraction, because I was so preoccupied with just surviving that the thought of a proposal never even crossed my mind. So when it finally happened, I was completely caught off guard.

Once we recovered, Taylor convinced me to take a walk down to the beach. It was there, on a private stretch of sand called Victoria Beach, that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The fact that it happened on a beach named Victoria made the moment feel even more meaningful.[/field]

I originally had my heart set on something sleek and fitted, but after trying on countless gowns in that silhouette, I still hadn’t had my “it’s the one” moment. My mom gently nudged me to try an A-line satin gown — and the second I stepped out in it, I knew. I immediately felt like a bride. Moms really do know best! That said, I still wanted to honor my original instinct for something more fitted, so I chose a second dress by New White for the reception. It was form-fitting throughout, but had the most romantic tulle detailing — that included off-the-shoulder sleeves, a flowing overskirt, and an ethereal illusion back. It felt fashion-forward and fun while still nodding to classic bridal style, and the soft movement of the tulle beautifully mimicked a veil throughout the entire evening.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Since our color palette was almost entirely white and muted tones, I knew I wanted my sister/maid of honor to serve as my “something blue.” I was equally determined that her dress wouldn’t look like a typical bridesmaid dress — I wanted something that felt more like an elevated evening dress. We found the perfect option through House of CB: a soft blue maxi dress with delicate floral detailing throughout. It looked chic and intentional rather than bridal-party standard, and more importantly, it suited her beautifully. Having her be my something blue made the tradition feel genuinely personal.[/field]

The day began with glasses of rosé as guests arrived at the estate and were welcomed into the relaxed elegance of the setting before being ushered to the back lawn for the ceremony. Following the vows, guests gathered at the iconic Azuridge gazebo for cocktail hour, where canapés were passed alongside champagne and a signature Empress Gin–based gin and tonic named after the couple’s beloved dog, Archie. As the evening unfolded, guests transitioned into a beautifully chiffon-draped open-air tent for a plated three-course dinner beneath the soft glow of candlelight. After dinner, the celebration continued indoors, where guests danced the night away.

Taylor and I both feel strongly that music sets the emotional tone of an entire day, so we were very intentional with every choice. For the ceremony, we hired a string quartet — but with a twist. Rather than traditional classical pieces, we asked them to perform modern songs our guests would subtly recognize, giving the whole ceremony a Bridgerton-meets-romance feel that our guests absolutely loved. For our key musical moments, we drew inspiration from the iconic rom-com soundtracks of our childhood. We concluded our ceremony as husband and wife for the very first time to “Got to Be Real” by Cheryl Lynn — it was the perfect joyful sendoff to close out the ceremony. We then made our grand entrance into the reception to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole, setting the tone for the celebration ahead. And for our first dance, we chose the timeless “At Last” by Etta James. These are songs we genuinely listen to on Sunday mornings while making breakfast together, so they felt deeply authentic to us as a couple. For the reception, we wanted to party! We’ve been to countless weddings where the dance floor fizzled out early due to jarring genre switches or slow-tempo detours, and we were determined not to let that happen. We gave our DJ one directive: keep the energy high and the floor packed all night. No “Sweet Caroline,” no slow songs — just nonstop, club-energy music from start to finish. Our wedding planner also gave us the most brilliant piece of advice: never leave the dance floor, because the moment the bride and groom step off, the guests follow. We took that very seriously and made a point of staying on the dance floor together all night. Our guests danced with us until nearly 33 am— and we’d call that a success!

Here, Claire and Jack envisioned a multi-day celebration that honored the setting — blending relaxed Italian charm with subtle Old World glamour. After ten years together, they prioritized experience over formalities—bringing their closest people together in a destination that encouraged connection, ease, and the joy of celebrating together. The celebration unfolded in thoughtful chapters. Guests were first welcomed to Monteriggioni at Borgo San Luigi, where they stayed, before gathering at Borgo Stomennano for an intimate pizza party with a live Italian swing band and Brindapino’s food and drink stations. The wedding day then embraced a richer palette of burgundy and crimson, with crystal chandeliers suspended from century-old trees, adding romance while honoring the estate’s natural beauty. Every detail — from the bespoke burgundy stationery by Lupine Letters to the artisan table linens by Apollonia Linen — was thoughtfully curated by Madame Wedding Design to create an immersive experience that felt both grand and deeply personal.

We both liked the idea of getting married outside by the water down the beach. Our families have places down at the Delaware beaches. We fully acknowledge that it is not the easiest place to get to, but we had been trying to have our friends from Boston come down to Delaware to experience the beaches, and this was the perfect occasion. Since our wedding was on a Friday, some of our friends even stayed for the weekend to explore our favorite spots.

We met at a housewarming party in DC in 2019. Mark’s roommate and one of my closest friends were coworkers. Mark’s roommate brought Mark to my friend’s housewarming party. We hit it off instantly. In fact, Mark’s roommate’s parents actually introduced Mark’s parents. Match-making must run in the family! Mark completely swept me off my feet, and I knew he was the one. He kept me on my toes with many surprise dates and grand gestures. His thoughtfulness continues to amaze me. We dated for five years- navigating various cities and jobs by each other’s sides. Mark surprised me and planned a day trip to Nantucket over Memorial Day Weekend. He insisted that we leave extra early for 1the 1:00 ferry ride so that we could go on a beach walk, where he ultimately proposed. In fact, we never got on the ferry; after proposing on the beach, he drove me to an Airbnb where both of our immediate families stayed for the entire long weekend to surprise us and celebrate. It was such a magical way to celebrate this exciting chapter, uniting our families.

I wore a dress by Lihi Hod. I went dress shopping with a completely open mind. I tried on a very similar dress, but Linda from Elizabeth John at Ardimore picked this one out for me to try, which she felt was a more elevated version of my original dress. I could not agree more! I felt like a princess in a white ballgown with a bit of a skirt. The slit was a fun touch as well, and we added a bow in the back as a fun, feminine touch.

We liked the idea of using our monogram M&M in various design elements- the welcome bags, the programs, the matchboxes, the golf balls, the escort board, and the napkins. We even had pink and yellow M&M’s at the bar. Our families also really like playing golf, and the escort board with the golf balls was a perfect nod to a sport we both enjoy and the beautiful country club venue.

The Bellagio was intentionally selected for its grandeur, with the sweeping staircase, statuary, and terrace serving as a runway-like backdrop for the ceremony. Textural layering played a defining role throughout the design, from embossed linens that echoed the tactile quality of the stationery to gold foil accents woven through menus, signage, and paper goods as a nod to Dior’s iconic branding. Mauve tones softened the crisp white palette, adding warmth and contrast while maintaining a polished, timeless aesthetic. Every detail was approached with intention, allowing personal elements to feel seamlessly woven into the design rather than overtly themed. Couture-inspired tablescapes, a sculptural cake, a vinyl-wrapped dance floor, and a thoughtfully designed escort display all contributed to a cohesive visual story that balanced fashion-forward elegance with emotional depth. Hidden throughout the celebration were subtle Taylor Swift “Easter eggs,” included as a personal reflection of the bride’s love for the artist. From the Alchemy escort display and intentional table count of thirteen to signature cocktails named Bejeweled Martini, Bad Blood Bourbon, and Pineapple Problems, each reference felt playful yet refined. The bride’s walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of Daylight, the piano-led ceremony, and even the thirteen-member bridal party tied the narrative together in a way that felt deeply personal, elevated, and seamlessly woven into the overall design.

I found the one by Justin Alexander at the bridal boutique in Lewisville, and my dress perfectly aligned with my vision—romantic, timeless, and effortlessly elegant. The dress featured delicate lace details, a soft yet structured silhouette, and a sweeping veil by Rita Vinieris that caught the Tuscan light beautifully as it trailed along cypress-lined paths at the Villa Montanare. When I first saw the gown and tried it on, I felt incredibly emotional—like stepping fully into the woman, wife, and mother I have become over the past ten years. It was the perfect balance of grace, femininity, and quiet confidence.

Thoughtfully selected scripture readings spoke to love as patient, enduring, and selfless—mirroring the journey of a marriage shaped over ten years. Rather than recreating their original vows, the couple chose to reflect on how their commitment has evolved, acknowledging the grace required to grow together through every season of life. A Winter Editorial Rooted in Heritage, Historic Elegance, and Heirloom Romance at The Mount

Inspired by the idea that historic homes quietly absorb the lives lived within them, this editorial reflects how modern couples step into spaces shaped by generations past, adding something entirely their own. The design narrative centers on the concept of inheritance: not only what we are given, but what we choose to carry forward. It is a dialogue between old and new, tradition and reinterpretation. We intentionally wove in elements from previous generations – heirloom vintage silverware passed down through families, classic Ginori 1735 china, Italian linens, antique silver, and calligraphed menus – to honor the rituals and craftsmanship of the past. These pieces were balanced with a fresh, contemporary palette and playful patterning, creating a layered aesthetic that feels both reverent and modern. At its heart, this editorial is a reflection on continuity – on love carried through space, ritual, and memory. It reminds us that while we inherit places, stories, and traditions, we also have the freedom to reinterpret them, leaving behind something meaningful and uniquely our own.

Set within the storied walls of The Mount, the former home of Edith Wharton, this editorial examines the idea of inheritance through a contemporary lens. Wharton was, after all, a storyteller; it felt fitting to consider how modern couples enter spaces already steeped in history, and how they, in turn, add a chapter of their own. Every element was chosen to feel as though it belonged. The setting felt collected rather than styled – resonant with the past while remaining unmistakably of its moment. A grazing table for cocktail hour was layered with texture, fruit, and florals, while the reception was set within the gallery for an intimate celebration among the couple’s closest friends and family. Rather than imposing a new aesthetic, the design listened to the house itself. The Italian marble fireplace and architectural details echoed through our choice of linens, and the color palette was drawn directly from Wharton’s iconic burgundy toile boudoir. As evening fell, the couple slipped away to the library for a dirty martini, surrounded by Wharton’s book collection. In that moment, they weren’t just guests of the house; they were both readers and writers of its stories, adding their own chapter to a narrative that has been handed down through generations.

The bride’s first look was a drop-waist Mikado ball gown. The silhouette was pure drama. A plunging sweetheart neckline, framed by sculptural U-wire detailing, gave way to a precisely constructed bodice that felt structured yet feminine. But it was the skirt that truly captivated — a sweeping masterpiece crafted with over 14 yards of satin layered atop structured netting and lining to create exaggerated volume and movement. Finished with horsehair at the hem for added shape and a scalloped zipper guard for a couture-level detail, the gown delivered a regal presence that mirrored the grandeur of the historic setting. It was a statement in modern romance – bold, intentional, and unforgettable. For the second look, the gown offered a softer, more intricate counterpoint: a beaded mermaid silhouette layered in Chantilly lace, glitter tulle, and hand-placed appliqués. The sweetheart neckline and delicate peplum detail created an elongated, sculpted shape, while the sheer bodice gave the illusion of lace floating against the skin. Dozens of appliqués were meticulously arranged over 25 hours, with hundreds of beads, sequins, and pearls applied by hand — each detail catching the light with a quiet shimmer. A sweeping 100-inch train and pearl button accents added just enough drama for the evening, proving that delicacy and impact can coexist beautifully.

One example of traditions reimagined: the couple chose to get ready together. This allowed their wedding morning to unfold much like their everyday life. Side by side, they shared quiet, intimate moments – fastening final details and lingering in each other’s arms. Rather than feeling staged, the morning felt deeply personal, offering a genuine glimpse into their life as a couple and how they begin their days together. Instead of retreating indoors in the low temperatures, the couple embraced the snow, letting the season shape their memories. Stepping outside into the crisp air, the landscape became a backdrop that felt both romantic and real. The bride’s choice to pair her robe with her trusty L.L.Bean boots added a playful, practical touch – a reminder that authenticity often makes the most meaningful statement.

Pull inspiration from architectural details, fireplaces, or existing color palettes to ensure the design feels collected rather than imposed. 5. Balance Opulence with Intimacy. Abundance is beautiful, but scale matters. Keep arrangements layered and overflowing, yet proportioned to the space. This ensures luxury feels welcoming, not overwhelming. 6. Infuse Personal Moments Steal a moment away for the couple – whether it’s a quiet drink in a library or a private walk through the gardens. These intimate touches connect the design to the people at the core of the celebration, not just the aesthetics. 7. Play With Edible Deco:r Incorporate fruits, vegetables, or even small edible accents into tablescapes or grazing stations. They add color, texture, and a sense of generosity, while keeping arrangements dynamic and layered.

While history and luxury defined the atmosphere, it was the intimate, personal moments that gave the celebration its soul. Vintage silverware passed down through generations, and the layered textures on the grazing table introduced a sense of collection and continuity, grounding the design in something tangible. A Timeless All-White Wedding with French Château Elegance and Haitian Heritage

The bride had a very specific vision for the design and overall vibe, and that was an all-white, classic affair that was European-inspired, French Chateau, and timeless. I wanted our wedding to be photographed and designed in a way where if someone were to see it 100 years from now, it would be timeless, and they wouldn’t be able to tell what year it was,” the bride explains. “I didn’t want any trends and popular fads at our wedding—just something timeless and chic. I think we nailed it.” As well as plenty of nods to their shared Haitian roots (this involved hiring a Haitian chef, DJ, and officiant, as well as prioritizing a bilingual experience for guests who exclusively speak Creole), so “everyone felt seen and included” was executed to the fullest.

Barbarah purchased her Sareh Nouri wedding dress, a lace ball gown with long sleeves and a high neckline, from Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City after a long search. “The moment I put it on, I felt butterflies. I kept waiting for these butterflies after trying on 50 to 80 different dresses, and it finally (and only!) came with this one,” she explains. She worked with the atelier’s seamstresses to customize the ensemble; they added more buttons down the front to elongate the gown, closed the neckline a bit higher, and introduced more tulle at the bottom for extra drama. “My favorite wedding dresses of all time were worn by Grace Kelly, Kate Middleton, and Jasmine Tooks, so this was the exact look I was going for,” she adds, noting that she was also influenced by her favorite movie, The Princess Diaries. “But I never wanted to be Mia Thermopolis! I’ve always admired and wanted to be Queen Clarisse Renaldi, and this dress was my moment to be her. This is definitely the gown she’d wear.”

Barbarah’s bridesmaids stepped out in black Anthropologie Weddings dresses of their choosing. “It was very important to me that the girls chose the style of dress that made them the most comfortable and beautiful. My only rule was that the dress was black and floor-length, along with the same silk material,” she explains. “Black is my favorite color, and everyone looks chic in black.”

Fequiere joined his bride in the wedding’s signature shade in his ensemble from The Black Tux, complete with a white tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo pants, a velvet bow tie, and cap-toe shoes. His half of the wedding party, including his best man, who has known the couple since their school days, also selected tuxedos from The Black Tux.[/field]

We are both Haitian, and so we absolutely knew that having Haitian food at our wedding was 1000% anon-negotiablee. We have been to dozens of weddings where the food was bland and didn’t represent the couple’s culture at all,l and for us, this was one of the most important details that could not be missed. The entire event’s cuisine was handled by the couple’s on-site chef and his team. “Lamartine Alvarez from Chez Lama Haitian Cuisine came all the way from Nashville,” explains the bride. “We had Haitian Fritay for cocktail hour, which is an assortment of fried foods. It consists of a variety of delicacies such as fried plantains, pate kode, accra, and marinade. For dinner, we had their Haitian Black rice, which is made with Djon-Djon mushrooms, which give the rice its distinct black color and texture. Along with fried plantains, we served chicken in sauce topped off with Pikliz, which is a condiment in Haitian cuisine of pickled cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and other spicy peppers to make the dish spicy.

The bride had a very specific vision for the ceremony’s décor. “I wanted the entire aisle to run all the way up until the gorgeous marble dome, which was covered in white florals. I’ve never loved how wedding aisles seem to stop at the chairs and that there is a gap between the chairs and the altar, so I wanted my flowers to completely cover it, from the entrance of the ceremony all the way up to the marble dome,” she explains. Xpressions Floral Designs delivered and ensured all of the flowers used were white sans greenery, per the bride’s request.

An empty chair was marked to honor the memory of Barbara’s late brother, who passed away when he was 16. “My favorite part of the day was seeing a butterfly land right behind my husband as he was saying his vows,” reflects the bride. “Honoring my late brother meant the world to me, and I did go visit his gravesite and ask him to show me a butterfly on my wedding day to let me know that he was there. The day was complete for me after seeing the little butterfly—I knew my brother was there with us.”

At their welcome party, inspired by a summer garden, guests enjoyed passed hors d’ouevres that included pork belly bao buns, chicken and waffle sliders, and crab cakes; a Mediterranean station and a mezze station. At the wedding cocktail hour, guests noshed on raw and roasted seasonal Vegetables, and several passed appetizers, including pork skewers, smoked briskets with jam, chicken satay, caprese bocconcini, bagel spice gougeres, and tuna tartar. Their signature cocktail and mocktail, called “The Moon” and “The Stars,” a nod to their favorite saying, were inspired by a Raspberry Smash. For dinner, guests dined on panzanella salad and chose between braised short rib with port reduction, miso-glazed sea bass, or sweet corn risotto.

Starting with the welcome party, the weekend was dubbed a “botanical wonderland” by the father of the bride. Inspired by a summer garden, the welcome party flowers were bright red, yellow, and orange, and incorporated heirloom tomatoes and vegetables. At the wedding, Peri and Jason exchanged handwritten vows under a stunning chuppah bursting with vibrant flowers in sunny yellows, an array of pinks, and warm oranges. Long tables were dressed in patterned linens and paired with cane-back chairs, grounding the space in texture. Florals spilled across tabletops in joyful shades of marigold, coral, pink, and soft green, echoing the garden-inspired palette woven throughout the weekend. Colored taper candles and glassware added depth without feeling overly formal.

As another Disney nod, the Father-Daughter dance was “You’ll Be in My Heart” by Phil Collins, while the Mother-Son dance was “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack.

The reception design brought Peri and Jason’s summer camp wedding vision fully to life, blending nostalgia with thoughtful refinement. Guests stepped into a space that felt immersive, warm, and layered, where every detail had intention behind it. Overhead, rattan lanterns filled with greenery and soft candlelight were suspended throughout the ceiling. Greenery crawled up the walls and covered the ceiling, creating a scene that was truly jaw-dropping. The effect was whimsical and inspired by the lantern release scene from Tangled, one of the bride’s favorite movies. As the lights flickered and moved gently above the tables, the room took on a cozy glow that felt both playful and romantic.

A Nature Inspired Wedding Weekend with Romantic Lantern-Lit Details in Carmel Valley

The overall design vision for the wedding was deeply inspired by the couple’s love for the outdoors and travel, with a strong emphasis on blending their cultures in thoughtful, personal ways. They intentionally chose venues, Mountain Winery and Carmel Valley Ranch, that offered an indoor-outdoor feel and overlooked naturally beautiful landscapes, avoiding a traditional ballroom setting in favor of environments that felt open, scenic, and connected to nature. The aesthetic was designed to feel soft, romantic, and organic, allowing the surrounding scenery to take center stage while being enhanced with intentional design elements. For the reception, the couple focused on creating a warm and intimate atmosphere, using gentle lighting and lanterns to evoke romance. The lanterns subtly referenced Jake’s Asian heritage, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese lanterns while still fitting seamlessly into the overall design. Cultural fusion was a core pillar of the wedding vision. Rather than separating traditions, the couple wove their backgrounds together throughout the experience, from fashion and décor to food and guest experience. This included a thoughtfully curated culinary program featuring Indian and Eastern Asian-inspired items, and creative fusion elements, such as lotus root prepared in an Indian style. A boba station during cocktail hour reflected their shared love of the delicious Asian classic! Personal storytelling played a major role in the design. Tables were named after places the couple had traveled together, many of them national parks, reinforcing their shared passion for outdoor adventures. Each table included a photo from that location, while the head table was named “Home,” featuring the very first photo the couple ever took together, grounding the celebration in intimacy and meaning. Even the favors reflected this layered vision: loose-leaf teas sourced from both Taiwan and India, paired with local honey from Carmel Valley Ranch, symbolizing the coming together of cultures, travel, and place. Overall, the design was intentional, heartfelt, and experiential, focused on creating a wedding that felt personal, culturally inclusive, and rooted in the natural beauty the couple loves most.

The proposal took place during a hiking trip to the Eastern Sierras, just beyond Yosemite. Ramya, the bride, had previously shared with Jake, the groom, that one of her favorite landscapes was an alpine lake set against dramatic mountain backdrops. Although they loved outdoor adventures together, they had never visited this particular scenery yet, and Jake secretly planned the proposal around this dream setting. To keep it a surprise, Jake asked a friend to pretend to organize a group trip with his girlfriend and the couple, making it seem like it was not Jake’s idea. After driving to the Eastern Sierras, they went on a long hike that ended at a stunning alpine lake surrounded by mountains. At the top, Jake’s friend and his girlfriend suggested taking photos of the scenery. They first asked Ramya to pose for pictures, then encouraged her to take a photo with Jake because the view was so beautiful. When Jake stepped in, he proposed. The only moment she realized what was happening was when she felt how fast his heart was beating. To make the moment even more special, Jake had secretly packed nicer clothes for her from her own closet so they could change at the top and take photos. In the end, her favorite images ended up being the ones taken in their hiking clothes, which captured the authentic and candid moments.

Indian Wedding Ceremony: For the Indian wedding ceremony, Ramya wore two traditional saris that she and Jake purchased together during a trip to Chennai, India. The pieces were not from a specific designer, making them especially personal and meaningful, as they reflected a direct connection to place and culture rather than a single brand. Each sari required individual tailoring, adding to the craftsmanship and care involved in bringing the look together for the ceremony. Western Wedding Ceremony: For the Western wedding ceremony, the bride chose a white lace sari-style gown by Premya by Manishii, a designer known for creating fusion pieces that blend Western bridal elements with traditional Indian silhouettes. The look combined the romantic lace and elegance of a classic wedding dress with the drape and cut of a sari, perfectly reflecting the couple’s intention to honor both cultures in a seamless, modern way. The piece was selected specifically for the ceremony as a visual representation of the couple’s blended traditions. For the reception, the bride made her grand entrance in a custom lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock (FSP). Glittered with strands of gold, beading, and deep hues, this lehanga took her into their first dance and the special performance for her new husband and family. She later changed into a House of CB white dress and danced the night away with loved ones.

The groom’s attire thoughtfully reflected both cultural significance and craftsmanship. For the Western wedding, he wore a custom-made tuxedo tailored in Taiwan. For the Indian wedding ceremony, he wore a traditional look from the menswear brand Tasva.

During cocktail hour, the couple included a boba station, a nod to their shared love of boba and Asian flavors. A New York Public Library Wedding Weekend Rooted in Tradition and the Energy of Manhattan

New York City is where Ayesha and Ben are happiest and where they call home. The energy of the city feels inherently celebratory, vibrant, and deeply welcoming to the couple. It felt natural to anchor such an important part of their lives in a city that brings them such joy. Practically, it was also conducive to their global guest list (with a portion of their 220 guests traveling in from about a dozen countries). The weekend was filled with a range of celebrations: a Mendhi, welcome party, Baraat, Jai Maala, Saat Pheras ceremony, and Sangeet all transpired before the big day itself. Ayesha initially experienced the New York Public Library as a 5-year-old visiting from Mumbai. She was one of those girls who dreamed about her wedding when she was little, and remembers standing in front of the iconic venue in complete awe of its scale and history. Ayesha and Ben both wanted to get married in a place that felt timeless. Somewhere, they could return year after year. They took pride in choosing a venue that has welcomed multicultural celebrations and where many milestones have been hosted.

Ayesha and Ben got engaged on April 4, 2024, at Wildflower Farms—a secluded Auberge resort in upstate New York. He had been planning the surprise for months, telling Ayesha only that they were going away for the weekend and refusing to share a single detail. What she didn’t know was that he had coordinated with the property’s owners to propose under a tree-lined canopy by the river with champagne waiting. The day before, a torrential rainstorm rolled in and washed out the original plan, forcing him to pivot at the last minute. With their help, he transformed a fireside cottage on the property to serve as the new setting and led his bride-to-be there under the guise of a simple romantic morning stroll. Inside, with the rain tapping against the windows and a fire crackling, Ben got down on one knee. “There is nothing like seeing your best friend in life kneel in that formal, intentional way and ask the biggest question you’ll ever hear,” Ayesha recalls. “I was so overwhelmed that I completely forgot to look at the ring—until I did, and nearly fainted.” The five-carat pear-shaped diamond with French-cut emeralds set into a platinum band is an ode to the women in Ayesha’s maternal line, all of whom wear pear-shaped rings. Over time, the pear has become a symbol in her family, even woven into the wedding day’s crest, so it was a deeply personal choice. The rest of the weekend was slow and joyful: feeding animals at the farm, indulgent farm-to-table meals, and, of course, lots of Champagne! That weekend, Ayesha and Ben gathered their immediate families for a celebratory dinner at the Bowery Hotel—a location that they (and many others) gathered at once more for the couple’s welcome party and Sangeet.

For the Welcome Party, it was all about setting the tone for the weekend with a visual conversation that married history and reinvention. Something old and something new. Sandra Mansour’s atelier allowed Ayesha to reimagine one of her “Quiet Fields” silhouettes in a custom ivory-gold palette, a subtle twist on the traditional bridal white. To ground the modernity of the dress, she paired it with Dior slingbacks from 2010. A Mendhi kickstarted the wedding weekend, with Ayesha donning saffron-hued Dolly J and her grandmother’s vintage jewels. A change into custom Sandra Mansour and vintage Dior heels for the welcome party set the tone of old-meets-new. For the Baraat, Jai Maala, Saat Pheras ceremony, and Sangeet downtown at the Bowery Hotel, the couple chose pieces by Masaba, with Ayesha adding a 600-year-old gold belt worn by generations of women in her family, and then they both changed into custom Rohit and Rahul for the latter half of the night. Vera Wang’s “Mia” was the very first gown Ayesha pulled to try on — and she was instantly drawn to it. She had a gut feeling it was the one. There was something about its structure and movement that felt like a mirror of her personality: elegant and timeless, yet young, feminine, and a touch irreverent. The soft tulle through the center reminded her of a ballerina mid-motion, and the way the dress moved felt alive. It embodied everything she wanted in that moment — grace with a little edge, romance with confidence. For her final look of the weekend, Ayesha wanted something that felt like both a revelation and a release — something ultra-comfortable yet undeniably luxurious. The Dottie dress from Danielle Frankel’s newest “X Clementine” collection embodied exactly that balance. Its ethereal draping and heavenly-soft textures moved effortlessly, allowing the bride to dance and celebrate without constraint. After a weekend of layered meaning and tradition, Ayesha wanted to begin her marriage in total newness — and wearing the newest collection piece felt like the most poetic way to step into that next chapter. In Hindu tradition, the color black is believed to ward off the “nazar” — the evil eye — a quiet form of protection during life’s most auspicious moments. Wanting to weave that symbolism into her bridal look, Ayesha chose to forgo conventional white accessories for black ones instead. Black Khaite heels and Jennifer Behr earrings became modern talismans — elegant, sculptural pieces that balanced purity with power, and paid homage to heritage through subtle rebellion. She also slipped on a diamond tennis necklace that her parents gifted her, which felt like a symbolic way of them ushering her through the momentous occasion.

It was important to the couple to include a vegetarian entree in the main selections and not as an alternate, as many of Ayesha’s Hindu family members are vegetarian, and Pinch Food Design, which catered the event, was eager to oblige. A global offering of wines was on offer to pair with the meal. Guests also signed special bottles for the newlyweds to toast with on milestone anniversaries. The bride’s family brought in special red wine from their home cellar to be poured tableside, all coming from California vineyards they had visited together.

While the setting of the wedding was a backdrop of warm marble, color was added with vibrant blooms. For the ceremony in the round, the circular chuppah was covered with peach, coral, and green flowers and an abundance of greenery from all sides. Cocktail hour boasted statement pieces with anthurium, orchids, lotus pods and flowers, dahlias, ranunculus, Japanese anemones, and roses. On the reception tables, low arrangements of peach roses and ranunculus, vibrant coral and persimmon dahlias, roses, and anemones, pale green lisianthus and hellebores, and deep plum-colored ranunculus mixed with greenery, including ferns and ruscus. Fresh fruit and hand-painted gold were incorporated to add dimension and symbolism. A mix of taper candles and votives illuminated the storied space, with gold accents on everything from the chairs to the monogrammed napkin rings to the menus to the tabletop, further adding to the warm glow. And an organic installation of assorted greenery dripped overhead, while underfoot, the dancefloor was covered with a design inspired by an aerial view of manicured gardens.

The crest’s symbolism came to fruition in the form of fruit trees on display behind the band.
