Happy Happy Happy ~ Anniversary to Cameron and Matt from all of us here at Style Me Pretty!
Cameron and Matt are celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary, today … and oh, my how their lives have changed! They now boast a family of two positively precious babies ~ Harper Jo just turned 6 months old and her big brother Owen is a little over 2 years old! Talk about precious!
You know how much we LOVE to feature our Little Black Book members’ own weddings and even though it’s been a few years, there’s no denying that Cameron and Matt were quite the trend-setters back in 2006! As a wedding photographer, herself, Cameron knew she wanted a themed wedding and wanted all of their guests to join in the fun. So, from Cameron ~ of Cameron + Kelly Studios … a look back at her own fabulous wedding day!

We got married in Flagstaff, AZ June 17, 2006. We were delighted when our wedding was featured in Arizona Bride Magazine in early 2007. Since I’m a photographer… I knew I wanted a themed wedding. Matt and I had been to a great 70′s theme wedding in 2003 where all the guests were encouraged to dress up (and they did). We loved the idea of the guests fully participating in the theme, so we asked guests to dress up in 30-40′s Hollywood style.

Matt and I love the Arts and Crafts movement and at the time (2006) themed weddings seem to be found only in Martha Stewart’s magazines. People thought we were crazy and kept asking, “what are we supposed to wear?” — We reminded people to draw inspiration from movies of that era (Notorious, Suspicion, King Kong, Hell’s Angels, Casablanca, Citizen Kane,This Gun for Hire, Chinatown, Philadelphia Story and more… ) and asked them to pick a character and just do it!

Just seeing the look on Matt’s face as I came down ‘the aisle’ will live with me for a lifetime. My florist, Events by Showstoppers, recommended that I carry my rose bouquet in my arms (like in a beauty pageant) because that’s how bride’s held their bouquets during that era! It was certainly fun to put our spin on the event and as a wedding photographer, I felt a lot of pressure to make it memorable. Seeing all my ideas come to life was made possible by hiring KD Event Designs who took care of all the little details that I dreamed up but didn’t know how to execute (one of which was having the ceremony in a circle vs. traditional).
Matt is a film buff and so this was his major contribution to the event. We found old movie posters, scanned them and had them mounted–they served as the table card names. I hand-cut with an exact-o knife all 100+ invitations and Matt created a wood cut (he’s an artist) that served as part of our save the date and invite. He also hand drew maps for our invite map. I really wanted to do letterpress invitations but at the time, I couldn’t find an affordable resource. I hand-lettered ALL the invitation addresses and papercrafts in a font I created that was similar to an arts and crafts font I found online.
We also knew we wanted a live band ~ they played 30-40′s themed music which everyone LOVED. We served a few signature cocktails that were popular during that era as well.
It was one of the best days of my life!
cameron and matt …. have a happy happy anniversary!

Well this couple surely paved the way, didn't they?! This is such a stylish wedding, I adore all the vintage details (ESPECIALLY that dress!). And I know it's four years old now, but I would totally "recycle" this wedding and use these ideas!
Thanks SMP, I haven't seen these in a while...'looks better than I remember. Not wanting to be too catty with my lovely wife on our anniversary, but those deco font hand addressed invites were mostly done by me!
It is hard to believe that it has been four years! Cameron and Matt intrusted me to pull together this amazing event, what an honor! It is still one of my favorite weddings! Happy Anniversary! Congrats
Oh, I've got to take a photograph of an invitation (which I have upstairs) -- it had the best Gretta Garbo stamp on it. Um, see, my handsome husband has a selective memory... he remembers the late days AND nights we BOTH spent hand-lettering the invitations (had to twist his arm, though). Hand-lettering the invites took FOREVER but it was worth it. Almost everyone that received one commented on how much they loved them. Enough talk, I better go photograph them. I've been meaning to do so for four years. As for being trend-setters...I didn't think of it that way until this vintage thing took off recently. In 2005 when I was planning this event, the big wedding blogs weren't around and I scoured the web for vintage wedding ideas and came up short. Having seen what has been done is incredible. I would've loved some mismatched china and candle sticks and fun linens. I got Kim Duncan involved too late... she would've come up with EVEN more amazing ideas.
What a beautiful wedding! The dress is amazing and I love the bride's headpiece. I am a huge fan of the Arts & Crafts era myself--I love the architecture, the pottery, the furniture... It's great that the couple was able to integrate so many details into their day. What a lovely event!!
~ katrina and i attended the wedding as guests, just a week after our baby boy was born!! it was such a cool wedding, cameron+matt nailed all the details home, and of course had the help of kim @ kdevents, and the always amazing floral of jim and ken at show stoppers... it's fun to see these pictures of them from their wedding,, i especially like the ceremony photos and their smiles for each other :) wow, so much happens in just four years.. congratulations, cameron+matt!
What a great blast from the past! I attended their wedding and had an incredible time. Cameron and Matt had all the details down to a tee! And I looooved the circular ceremony site and the fact that all of their friends and family were really in the spirit of the day with the costumes.
Beautiful photos as well Lacour.
Congrats on your anniversary C&M!!
