An Around the World Romance Led to this Sweet Washington Wedding

They met in Germany, fell in love in Thailand, and became husband and wife in Washington in the most breathtaking setting ever. And with views like that, Cooper and Debbie kept the decor at their at-home wedding simple, allowing Washington’s natural beauty and their love shine. Head to The Vault for all kinds of pretty courtesy of Brittany Mahood Photography!

From Brittany MahoodCooper and Debbie met four years ago while attending a missionary training school in Herrnhut, Germany. Debbie is German and Cooper came from Mt. Vernon, Washington. They went on outreach to Thailand and their relationship developed from there, where last summer they tied the knot at Cooper’s family home in Mt Vernon.

Friends from all over the world came to celebrate their intimate day. Cooper and his two groomsman donned navy blue suits with simple white boutonnieres. The bridesmaids rose quartz dresses were beautiful and feminine amongst the great mountainous backdrop of the outdoor affair.

Cocktail hour was held amongst the property with simple flowers and fruit arranged in glass vases. The paper cranes were handmade by the bride and hung among the trees, dancing in the wind.

This Groom Had a 24 Hour Window to Pull Off the Perfect Proposal

Being in a long distance relationship is not easy. Neither is planning the perfect proposal when you only have 24 hours to pull it off, but with the help of Olive Photography, Andy did. Meeting up in Toronto before heading on a trip through Asia, Andy arranged a sweet proposal followed by gorgeous engagement photos. Fall in love with it all in The Vault!

From Olive PhotographyOn a recent evening my phone started to ring – the call display said the number was from the US. I picked up, and learned of the sweetest thing!

Andy and Viv have a long distance relationship – both living in different states currently. Originally both from California, she moved to New York to be a real estate lawyer and he tours around being a dentist for the military. They were planning a trip through Asia, and they had a one-day layover in Toronto.

Andy wanted to propose on that layover day, and he wanted a photographer to document the happy occasion.

I was SO excited. I can’t even tell you.

Well, being the totally enthusiastic and keen person I am, I immediately started working with him to brainstorm ideas, and we quickly set a plan. I would gather a few items – picnic basket, blanket, champagne, glasses – and help him find THE BEST Toronto skyline view for a romantic site for him to pop the question.

The day approached. Their planes had both arrived in Toronto and they met up around 11:30 am. They checked into a hotel, dropped off some stuff, & explored the city. Meanwhile, I took the ferry to the Island that afternoon and set up the picnic stuff at the site.

At 5:30pm, they took the ferry across and Andy started to lead Viv across the island (saying a friend had said it was super pretty) using the directions I had sent him.

I knew what they looked like (he had sent me a photo), and when I saw them approach I readied my camera.

They arrived at the spot, and Andy made a comment about the strange picnic basket. They walked towards it, and he got down on one knee.

Y’all know what happens next. She was totally surprised in that moment. And I was smiling ear to ear as I photographed the magic happen.

Hugs, kisses, happiness abound!

They then enjoyed some bubbly and some quality time exploring the beautiful scenery as I snapped away to commemorate the evening.

At the Halfway Point Between Their Two Hometowns, This Bride and Groom Said “I Do”

For this New Zealand Bride and her New Jersey Groom, getting married in Hawaii wasn’t just pretty, it was practical with its location halfway between both of their hometowns. With guests in all white, Keren stunned in a beaded blush gown, which made for beautiful beach photos on the beach at sunset. See every pretty detail from Moana Events, captured by Christie Pham Photography, in The Vault!

From The Bride…How and where did you meet? A mutual friend of ours asked a group of us to help him review a restaurant (he’s a food blogger) – that was the first time Adam and I met and we spent the whole night talking behind the back of the guy sitting between us – we were inseparable! Adam asked for my number at the end of the night and we went on a date the following Saturday and the rest is history!

How did he propose? At the Taj Mahal in India

From Moana EventsKeren from New Zealand, met Adam from New Jersey, while they were both living and working in Singapore. This fun-loving and well-travelled couple decided to have their dream Jewish destination wedding in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, which was the half way point between the bride and grooms hometowns. Loulu Palm Estate, which offers gorgeous oceanfront and mountain range views, was the perfect location that provided the tropical elements the couple wanted for their romantic wedding day.

In a private ceremony, before their wedding, Keren and Adam signed their Ketubah, a document that outlines the husband’s obligations to his wife, that they had specially made from Israel. Guests were asked to wear all white allowing the bride, who was stunning in a blush pink gown with sparkling embellishments, to truly be the center of attention. Keren and Adam provided specially made light pink yarmulkes, embroidered with a yellow and pink hibiscus flower, for the men to wear. In true Jewish tradition the couple was married under a wooden chuppah, adorned with creme and blush flowers and solidified their union with the breaking of glass. During cocktail hour, guests were able to choose from five cleverly named specialty drinks, including a “ Mazol Tov Mai Tai” and “Singapore Sunset.”

For the reception guest were invited to sit under a clear top tent partially draped in white silk fabric and adorned with crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Guest tables were arranged in a “U” formation and decorated with blush tablecloths. The centerpieces included clear, textured glass and wooden vases that were filled with creme and blush flowers and accented by dark green foliage. The couple was married on the first day of Hanukkah and conducted a menorah lighting during their wedding reception. In honor of their Jewish culture, the couple and their guests danced the Hora and had the blessing of the challah by the rabbi. For dessert, guests were treated to Malasada’s, a delicious Hawaiian doughnut. Surrounded by loved ones, Keren and Adam danced the night away which was the perfect ending to their dream wedding.

A Boho Inspiration Session Fit for a Grecian Goddess

It all started with a dress. And not just any dress. No, this is the Hayley Paige “Honeycomb” dress, which inspired The I Do Scene to dream up this gorgeous “Grecian bohemian” editorial photo shoot. With a vision for a lush, intimate ceremony and tablescape design, these amazing vendors transformed Sage Market + Design‘s floral studio into the perfect photo shoot backdrop. See all the pretty from Christina Bernales in The Vault!

From The I Do SceneWhat an amazing shoot this was!! I came up with the concept to create this gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired shoot after first seeing an inspired gown from Hayley Paige and my vision for “Grecian Boho” was born. I wanted to create an intimate, lush and elegant setting for the ceremony and I wanted that same feeling to carry through the tablescape décor as well. New England Country Rental provided the gorgeous rentals and when I first saw the white oval table I had to have it! I like the juxtaposition of the modern feel of the table and the organic elegant feeling I created with the tablescape décor. The china setting had a heavy Grecian style influence that I loved and paired with the mother of pearl flatware and a simple olive green cotton gauze napkin the combination made my heart skip a beat!

Sage Market + Design is an amazing little design boutique in Newburyport, Massachusetts owned by mother-daughter team, Beverly and Jordan Fowler. These ladies were a dream to collaborate with! They graciously offered their studio space as the location for the shoot and are responsible for the gorgeous floral design! The floral design for the tablescape consisted of two lush centerpieces featuring olive leaf, asparagus fern, eucalyptus, white hydrangea, white roses and white peonies and the gorgeous garland that flowed from the edge of the table and spilled onto the floor. The backdrop for the “ceremony” was a living wall of boxwood with dripping floral “lanterns” hanging from either side of the beautiful gilded sconces from Anthropologie, anchored by tall gold lanterns on the floor. The stunning bouquet mimicked the same beautiful flowers and greenery featured in the centerpieces.

Rachel Meadows of Honey Honey Calligraphy designed the beautiful watercolor-inspired stationary and lettered the gorgeously unique calligraphy! I loved the gorgeous shades of green from the paper goods that was woven throughout the design in the tablescape and ceremony backdrop.

The white linen vow book from Wedding Story Writer was the perfect heirloom piece that added just the sweetest touch of romance. I just adored this book from the first moment I laid eyes on it and was so happy to have been able to feature it.

Our beautiful model “Bride” Danielle is a real bride-to-be and one of my beautiful clients getting married next year. She excitedly transformed into our Grecian-Boho bride and brought life to this shoot. She truly was a vision in the “Honeycomb” gown from the incredible Hayley Paige. The beautiful jewelry from designer Eugenie Bee was just the right touch-I especially loved the gold bee earrings! Hairstylists Monica Tufts and Jacqueline Barone from Mirror Mirror Salon created a beautifully relaxed, yet romantic hairstyle for Danielle, and the talents of makeup artist Raena Tripp Mason highlighted her natural beauty flawlessly.

Last but certainly not least is the incredible talent you experiencing while seeing these gorgeous images. Christina Bernales is truly a visionary behind her lens. She is patient, thoughtful and is an inspiration to see in action!

Bridal Braids + Blush Gowns Add Style to this Romantic Spring Wedding

This Groom knew from the start that this lovely lady wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and after only a couple short years of dating, she was right there with him, ready to take the next step forward. And they did so with one beautiful, rustic elegant affair, captured by Michael and Carina Photography and Molly Scott Photo. From the Bride’s braid that I’m eager to copy, to the florals and styling by So Lovely Wedding, it’s a wedding winner we’re happy to have in our Vault. More this way!

From Michael And Carina Photography… A rich color palette, lots of emotions, movement and stunning details make us think that many SMP brides will fall in love with Katie and Jared’s Richmond wedding. The blush wedding dress and organic florals left guests speechless. But it is not only the beauty of this wedding that will inspire brides, but also the personal touches of it. As the bride was preparing for her wedding day, the grandmother was reading the vows for the wedding video. It is those precious moments and personal details that tell stories best.

From the Bride… Jared and I met towards the end of 2012 on a popular online dating website. He was my very first date from the site, for him I was number ____ (still to this day the number is undisclosed); he likes to tell me he was waiting for me the entire time. After a week and a half of seeing one another he stated I would be his girlfriend one day and like a gentlemen would wait for me to figure out we belonged together. Lucky for me he was right! I do not think I knew how lucky I was to have someone like him till the day he began looking for engagement rings. In good Jared fashion he did lots of research on diamonds and sought out the best of the best, just to come back home more stressed than ever because of the cost for the best of the best. He never does anything half way though, when something matters to him he gives all of himself to it. That was the moment I really realized I was the someone that mattered to him and he would dedicate himself to investing into us. See, when we first began dating he was at a point in his life where he did not know if he wanted a wife and kids, but after two years together he would look at me and tell me “Katie, I would not be getting married if it was not to you.” Every time I think of him saying those words I grow so warm, what a treasure that gift is. I am so blessed to live this life with him and our two fur babies, Polly and Athena.

Being a photographer myself I knew I wanted my day to be something I would be excited to photograph! Soft color palette, lots of greenery, a gorgeous Roman inspired building with gorgeous architecture, urns full of flowers, and vintage touches were a must. Michael and Carina were the first vendors I knew I needed to book! I actually told them they would be my photographers six months before I was even engaged. We lucked out finding The Scott House which is a building on my college campus and made the perfect backdrop to our wedding. Food was another big one for Jared, we ended up hiring our favorite restaurant to cater our wedding, and Alan even went off menu to prepare special requests! Ultimately I wanted things to feel garden wedding elegant with touches of Jared and I throughout.

As a bride I realized these few things: having a wonderful and trustworthy wedding coordinator is worth the price! Do not skimp on having one; Lauren saved me so many times the weekend of our wedding and kept everyone at ease. Hire a videographer!! So many people have said that was one of their biggest regrets and I ended up digging deep in my pockets to hire Molly Scott Photo & Video. She posted a sneak peek on her IG two days after our wedding and I have seriously watched it at least 100 times, it’s beyond memorizing! I cannot wait to see how she incorporates my grandma’s voice into the video, as that was a top priority for me. Have a rain back-up plan well before the wedding date, price out tents and rent one sooner if you feel uncomfortable waiting (especially the – apparently – super popular clear top tents, because… natural light), this will save you about ten grey hairs down the road! Do not allow the stress of planning to make you forget why you are getting married in the first place. Take time to go on no-wedding-talk date nights, because it can be stressful and sometimes you just need to go back to the root of what this day actually means.

Clifftop Views. Windswept Hair. This Engagement Has Everything.

We like to think of ourselves as experts in the engagement session department. I mean, we’ve covered what to wear, where to shoot, and how to get those dreamy, romantic photos we all completely adore. And this e-sesh from Winsome And Wright? It puts all of the above into practice. Go see the full gallery with a trip to The Vault!

From the Bride to be…Matt and I were introduced by his sister-in-law during my senior year in college at a fundraiser. He was (and still is) hilarious, nerdy, and awkward enough to give me the wrong number during our initial phone number exchange. Our first date was at a Halloween party, to where he wore a Slytherin crest on his costume knowing that it was my favorite Harry Potter house. That’s when I knew a magical adventure was in the works.

Over the years, we’ve grown to love nature and have made experiencing it a priority in our lives. We’ve traveled near and far to some of the most enchanting parts of the world and Matt even pulled off an epic proposal in Yosemite National Park! The next stop for us was Big Sur and taking our engagement photos there was only natural.

When we discovered Faith of Winsome of Wright, we were in awe. Her photos were beautiful and her personality was even more so. She was friendly, positive, and helpful right from the beginning. During the session, she made us feel comfortable and knew exactly what she was doing with the camera. We give Winsome and Wright our highest of recommendations.

They Said “I Do” at Australia’s Oldest Church and it was Breathtaking!

It’s hard to top an Eiffel Tower proposal, but these two sweeties managed to do just that with a wedding that was even MORE romantic than their ice skating engagement in the City of Light. Think a stunning ceremony in Australia’s oldest church followed by a sweet celebration at the beautiful bride’s grandparents’ farm, all designed by Decorative Events and Exhibitions and captured by Gabriela Ana Weddings.  See the breathtaking results in THE VAULT.

From Gabriela Ana Weddings… Lucy and Paul had the most beautiful early spring wedding getting married at Australia’s Oldest Church, Ebenezer Church, which Paul’s ancestors actually help built (amazing!).

The reception was held at Lucy’s grandparents acreage on their breathtaking property in Mt Wilson nestled within the Blue Mountains, Australia in a Marquee. Lucy had always wanted to have her wedding at her grandparents place ever since she was a little girl.

Lucy and Paul are both nurses and met while Lucy was on work placement on Paul’s ward. Lucy even yelled out “By the way, my name is Lucy!” after she met Paul while he walked away so he wouldn’t forget who she was! From there, their romance blossomed and then Paul proposed on their overseas holiday to Europe on Christmas Eve while ice skating in front of the Eiffel tower. Because the ice was so cold Paul didn’t want to bend down on one knee until Lucy made him do it again on one knee to make it official. (I think I would have done the same haha!)

Beautiful Buenos Aires Is Our New Bridal Dream Destination

While it’s no surprise that the City of Light is for lovers, what about the “Paris of South America” aka Buenos Aires? Well, if these pics by Sophie Epton are any indication, this Argentine city is ripe for romance. Sophie captured a gorgeous Bride-to-be and all the beauty surrounding her and lucky for us, we get to take a virtual trip with this uber pretty Vault gallery – bon voyage!

From Sophie Epton Photography… Traveling to Argentina is always at the top of my list, but traveling to this incredible country for a dear friend’s wedding and getting to shoot her bridal… well, that’s just the icing on the cake! Three years ago when I eloped with my husband Jordan in Buenos Aires, we met the most incredible girl, Clari Firmat, who we hired for hair and makeup. Little did we know that during the next year, over many e-mails, we would become dear friends as well. She became our officiant, drove us around the city for incredible portrait shots, and even took us out for a seafood dinner at her family’s local yacht club. Although we only spent about four days with her, we felt like we had known her our whole lives. When she told us she was engaged and getting married, it took about three seconds for Jordan and I to say “We’re in!” We flew back down to the “Paris of South America” where it all began, and embarked on a joyous weekend filled with amazing friends, laughter and unforgettable experiences.

Clari’s bridal is something I will cherish forever. We photographed her at the beautiful and quaint Hotel de Casco in San Isidro, just a little outside of Buenos Aires. The greenery, architecture and Clari’s stunning looks were a dream to photograph; literally around each corner and turn, there was new inspiration for me to utilize as a background. Clari wore the most amazing hand-designed wedding dress made just for her by Luli Greig… I loved the blush shell color and intricate beading that draped so elegantly over her body. She also wore an heirloom ring made with sapphires from her own great-great-grandmother’s brooch, and a shimmering crystal hair piece she made herself with her company Tepeino Puntocom. Jessica Crowell designed the most beautiful suite that reflected the old-world, whimsical feel of the venue – I just adore the hand-painted palm fronds and leaves on the envelope liner! The day ended with a walk amongst the large Jacaranda trees as the sun set over this beautiful bride, a moment I will never forget…

A Stunning Mountaintop Wedding With a Meaningful Details

After the tragic loss of the bride’s father just months before the wedding, it was this couple’s number one priority to honor his memory on the big day.  They included beautiful moments like a candle lighting at the welcome table and a locket tied around the bridal bouquet. Peony & Plum and CCL Weddings helped make it a day to remember and The Great Romance and FonD Productions captured every bit.

From The Bride…Roy and I met in college and started dating 5 years ago, and it has been a whirlwind of an adventure since! Upon beginning our careers, our professional endeavors took us all over the East Coast – starting in Boston, then to Philadelphia, and now New York City. But when it came time to decide on the location for the wedding, we knew right away that we wanted to get married where our roots were planted and where our hearts collided: California. With general geography out of the way, we began the venue hunt. Roy and I are fortunate to have very similar preferences in style, but with it came the almost-unattainable specificity in the vision of what we wanted. After months of a seemingly endless search, we came to the realization that to materialize that vision and truly reflect us as a couple, we needed a blank-slate where we could customize and build our wedding from the ground-up.

We found that perfect blank slate in Malibu Rocky Oaks. From the moment we stepped onto the venue, we fell in love with its Tuscan architecture and design that exuded elegance. The private estate provided the right amount of intimacy, while the sweeping vineyard landscape painted the perfect romantic atmosphere. The raw setting was all that we could ask for, and enabled us to put in our personal touches to bring everything together.

In keeping with the Tuscan theme, we incorporated olive branches and Italian-inspired greenery throughout our floral décor. We opted for a fairly neutral color scheme consisting of ivory, nude, blush, peach, and pops of gold to tie in all of the details. Our aim was to produce a timeless, romantic, and elegant affair. Luxurious, but in an understated way. In addition to having a private space to celebrate, we also felt strongly about having an outdoor dining area. Building upon the breathtaking views of the mountains and vineyards, the use of bistro lights, crystal chandeliers, and gold candelabras came together to create the perfect al fresco dining experience that we dreamed. The overall theme for the wedding was “Let Everything Be Done in Love” – the phrase by which we choose to live for one another. And we infused these phrases into various elements of the wedding.

One of our key focuses was on catering to our guests and their experience from beginning to the end. Starting with a chauffeured ride into the venue, we welcomed them with tasty refreshment drinks, and surprised them following the ceremony with cold eucalyptus towels and popsicle-infused champagne to cool them on a warm Malibu day. We certainly wanted to account for the diverse sweets palates of our guests, so multiple dessert stations were a must, although the macaron ice cream sandwiches were the biggest hit.

I recall a moment during the reception as Roy and I marveled at the sight of our loved ones enjoying their meals, and we gazed at one another with pure joy in our eyes, the biggest smiles, and overflowing hearts, truly thankful that everything, and most especially that everyone, had come together for our special day…it was a perfect celebration to honor our love and union. The only thing that would have made this day even more perfect was having my father by my side. The wedding was already a roller coaster of emotions for obvious reasons, but it was an especially emotional day for me as I had lost my father just months before the big day. To overcome the anxiety and heartache on the day-of, we found small ways to honor and remember him throughout the wedding. On the welcome table, we laid out rows of candles that our guests could light in his memory. At the ceremony, we reserved a seat with his name and picture, and had an acoustic guitarist to commemorate his love for the guitar. And as I walked down the aisle alongside my brother, I carried a gold locket of his picture around my bouquet.

Losing my father was the single most tragic event of my life, and to marry Roy was the single happiest moment of my life. I consider having these two juxtapose one another as a symbolic representation of life and our matrimony. It is in the toughest times that we vowed to lean on each other, and to breathe new hope and bring laughter when life seems devoid of either. It shows us what we can overcome and endure, as long as we have each other by our side. And it highlights the fragility and ethereal nature of life, but the beauty that can always be found within it. Our wedding was remarkable to us for so many reasons, but it is the discovery of a true ‘soul mate’ within each other that really makes this love extraordinary.

This Bouquet Takes the Wild + Romantic Floral Trend to New Levels of Pretty

Pretty is in our name, so it should come as no surprise that here at SMP we love all things gorgeous, and this Bride’s oversized bouquet from floral designer Brad Austin is definitely beautiful. Then again, every detail of this Los Angeles wedding is gorgeous and romantic. Head to The Vault to see photos from Alex Warschauer Photography and every ounce of pretty from this day.

From Alex Warschauer PhotographyI was asked to photograph Jessie + Colin’s wedding at one of my favorite little venues in Los Angeles, the iconic Carondelet House. This stunning 1920’s Italian villa is nestled in the heart of downtown LA and boasts classic domed archways with hand painted ceilings, exposed brick walls, and gorgeous courtyards with full grown trees protruding in the center of the building. I had documented another wedding there a year prior and I was over the moon to be returning. Jessie and Colin’s story isn’t that of your typical couple, these two lovebirds met back in preschool when they were just 4 years old, parted ways for almost 3 decades, and then reconnected at 31 through a Facebook message and recanted about playground kisses.

Their wedding was held on a Friday evening. Dark clouds and scattered showers were on the horizon in Los Angeles but I was so excited for that perfect milky light. Being that their ceremony and reception were to be held indoors I knew the weather would have no effect on the day’s plans. While Jessie and her bridesmaids were having hair and makeup done I walked around Carondelet capturing all the little details that make the venue so unique. After covering some whiskey toasts with the groomsmen and Colin’s dad, gorgeous geometric lighting fixtures in the ceremony area and stunning florals by Brad Austin I headed upstairs to see Jessie and her entourage.

The first look and ceremony went off without a hitch. All of the guests roared in applause as Colin and Jessie sealed their love with a kiss. High fives were given to Colin as he walked his bride down the aisle to go upstairs and share a private moment together. The reception was something out of a fairytale. The room was glowing in warm candlelight that spilled over the table and chairs onto the classic rose centerpieces and crystal stemware.

After some heartfelt speeches and savory food provided by Tres LA Catering everyone then headed downstairs for some sweets and to dance the night away.

From The Bride…My husband Colin and I met when we were 4 years old and carpooled to preschool together everyday. We were inseparable both in the classroom and on the playground. We actually remember kissing by the jungle gym to which Colin got in trouble for. After preschool, we went on to attend different elementary schools, high schools, and colleges. Even though we had a ton of mutual friends in common, we somehow managed to never cross paths even once during all those years. It wasn’t until we were both 31, that Colin found me on Facebook and sent me a message. We reminisced about the past and picked up right where our preschool love affair left off. We’re now married and at the entrance of our wedding had a life-sized cutout of the picture on the left. We were each other’s first kiss and now well be the last.

First Anniversaries Call For Lush Bouquets + Sweet Kisses Galore

I believe love stories are to be honored. And love stories that start in high school and continue to grow stronger day by day? Well they deserve full on celebrations and that’s exactly what these two lovebirds did when they hit their one year of marriage mark. Natalie Bray and Simply Elegant Weddings collaborated to create the scene before us and Natalie captured all the sweet love for us to peruse in our Vault as well, leaving us feeling inspired and giddy. What can we say, we love love.

From Natalie Bray… I hope this love story brings you joy. When two souls meet as high school sweethearts and finally marry… it is fantastic! But why stop there. Why not celebrate with a romantic One Year Anniversary session.

That is just what Jenny and Matt did. The inspiration for this session was romantic minimalism. The bride’s elegant dress from Sarah Seven with romantic open back accented her look beautifully. Now, pair that with Catalina Neal’s cascading florals full of greens, white, and oatmeal adding to the romance and the bride shined. Her hair and make-up focused on a more natural aesthetic with romantic pops of light pink and a simple chignon. She looked stunning. Matt sweetly helped get Jenny ready. What a wonderful connection and moment to have your husband help button your gown or put on your shoes. Just lovely!

The couple wanted to say their vows to each other as a way to relive the day and the words they spoke from the heart a year ago. A reminder of their love and commitment. The ceremony site was draped with olive leaves and gorgeous florals. Such a sweet and heartfelt occasion; therefore, we wanted the couple to stand out, but feel as if there was a canopy of nature surrounding them. The Bradford Ranch did just that. The Ranch was also where Jenny and Matt became husband and wife, so this location was perfect to celebrate. As they repeated their vows, smiles lit up their faces and was such a joy to be a witness to.

A refreshing rose water mojito was prepared for them to enjoy afterward.

The colors and concept continue into the tablescape design. With a Silk and Willow hand dyed table runner and florals filled with white ranunculus and peonies.

It was a beautiful way to celebrate such a special anniversary.

Bring the Barn Vibe Indoors with These Sliding Doors

On any given day, you can find me trying to convince my husband that we need patterned tile somewhere in our home, a bigger entryway or an in-home movie theater in our unfinished attic space. And the latest design lust? Sliding barn doors. I blame it on Fixer Upper and of course, this stunner home tour we shared earlier today from Megan Papworth and Dawn Terry of E.Interiors. More right this way!

After He Proposed, They Literally Sailed Off Into the Sunset

It’s a little ironic that a wedding nearly ruined this Groom’s proposal. Originally planning on taking his Bride for a walk out to a scenic lighthouse, he was forced to stall his plan when the path to the lighthouse was obstructed by a wedding. As soon as it ended, though, the plan was back on and he led his future bride to the lighthouse where he got down on one knee before they literally sailed off into the sunset. See every sweet moment, captured by Sheradee Hurst Photography, in The Vault!

From The Bride…Although Kevin and I had several mutual friends, our paths never crossed until two summers ago. He was interning with a friend of mine at an oil company when they came across my Facebook page. He became very adamant about getting my Snapchat name. She, knowing that I was not interested in a relationship, denied him the information. He decided to take matters into his own hands. He eventually found my username and added me immediately. We began snapchatting, the newest form of communication at the time. After weeks of sending pictures of our daily lives, we decided to go to a movie. We continued to hang out, after all, there were only a few more weeks of summer and life would soon go back to normal. Those few weeks ended, but we weren’t ready to. Going to rival schools, the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, we parted ways for the school year, meeting up on weekends, having daily Skype dates, and very quickly falling for each other. This past year I graduated and began teaching third grade, and impatiently waited for him to get down on one knee, something I had been dreaming of since the very beginning.

As spring break approached, I became very suspicious. I just knew he was going to propose that Friday. Everything was lining up perfectly, until he showed up in sweatpants. I was so disappointed. If it didn’t happen Friday, I couldn’t figure out when it was going to. It was definitely not the following night due to a double date we had planned. Once we arrived to our planned double date, Kevin began walking in the complete opposite direction of the restaurant. Evidently he had no intentions of actually going inside. I insisted that we go check in for our reservation and he finally obliged. After listing every possible name that the reservations could be under, with a line forming behind me, we left. Our friends were running late, but that was nothing out of the ordinary. Kevin decided that we should go walk around the lake to the lighthouse while we waited on them. To his surprise, there was a wedding going on, altering his entire plan. We began aimlessly walking in circles and he became glued to his phone, trying to figure out a quick backup plan. Eventually, the wedding ended and we made our way down the to the lighthouse where he asked me marry him, making me the absolute happiest girl in the world. Just when I thought the moment could not get any better, he pointed across the cove of the lake where a sailboat stood, awaiting us. We sailed around the lake on what could have easily been the coldest and windiest day of the year, drinking champagne, cuddled up in blankets. I could not have asked for a more perfect day in the world.

Kevin is currently finishing up school at Oklahoma State University and will be getting degrees in both mechanical and aerospace engineering. We plan on moving to Edmond, Oklahoma and are ready for whatever life brings. June 10th, 2017 cannot come soon enough!

See How This Couple Brought the French Glamour to Shanghai

At first glance I would’ve sworn this couple married in the South of France, but then to my delight I learned that they managed to bring the je ne sais quoi of my favorite European country to Shanghai! Proving that elegance isn’t only about location, Jada Poon Photography captured this stunner of a celebration and we’ve got it all in The Vault!

From Jada Poon PhotographyWhen I first met Sonia, we instantly clicked on what we love about weddings and all the wedding details and visions. It was always such a joy to chat about her wedding planning and her decisions on all the wedding details. Shanghai is not the most common choice for a western destination wedding, and Sonia’s wedding planning and vision show how it is so important to know what you want and how cohesively the wedding decor and details tie in together. In the end, Shanghai turned out to be the perfect place to realise her wedding vision and address their respective family’s preferences. It was a lot of fun photographing Sonia and Horace’s wedding, as it was the perfect combination of beautiful and elegant details, and heartwarming and fun moments.

From The Bride…I have always had a clear vision about our wedding- a classic, elegant and intimate affair. It is also important to make sure that our guests have a blast. We wanted a destination wedding, and after considering many options decided to settle for Shanghai as a good balance of everyone’s interest- a place where the venue has a touch of colonial flair but close to home (Hong Kong) for grandma and our friends. Photography to me was most important – I wanted to find someone whose vision aligns with mine so they can capture our wedding story and all the moments and details that I may miss on the day.

When we first started planning our wedding, I didn’t realize how much details and effort go into planning a wedding until you are actually on it. As I am very particular about the style and mood of everything, on top of that we had to manage remotely from Hong Kong, there were moments when I felt very stressed. Funnily enough, on the wedding day, I was so relaxed about everything and enjoying myself so much with all the people closest to us in our lives that I didn’t care whether everything turned out exactly how I had envisioned. In the end, everything was perfect.

From The Bride…After getting engaged, I was excited to start wedding planning but wasn’t sure where to begin. I had no idea what I wanted for the color scheme, decor, venue or any of the major elements that go into a wedding. So after many bridal magazines, and hours spent on Pinterest and Style Me Pretty I finally began to create a vision for our wedding.

Sean and I started by touring wedding venues in Philadelphia. We are both from Maryland but have called Philly home for the past 4 years and knew it was the perfect place. It was an easy decision for us to book the Horticulture Center in Fairmount Park. We loved the outdoor feel of the greenhouse venue and how magical it looked at night with all the hanging lights and candles. A huge plus for us was that their exclusive caterer was Starr Events, since we were familiar with their numerous restaurants around Philadelphia.

Sean and I found Uncommon Events through a recommendation at our Venue and are so happy we did. We used them for planning, design & floral decor. Their creative vision and planning helped to create such an amazing day. I was blown away by the flowers and decor and seeing all the ideas we had come to life. They did such a fantastic job.

Since we were getting married in April, we knew the weather would be unpredictable. We ended up getting really lucky with it raining in the morning then suddenly clearing up right before heading outside to do pictures. The cherry blossoms outside the Horticulture Center also bloomed earlier than normal so we had a gorgeous background for our pictures.

From the beginning of our day getting ready at the Monaco to ending the night with a packed dance floor (thanks to our band!) our wedding was like a dream and one of the best days of our lives. It was absolutely perfect and we’re so thankful that Mary Dougherty and Cinemacake were able to capture all of these memories in such an amazing way!

Getting Married in an Train Museum Has Never Looked So Good

Who knew that getting married at a train museum could be so incredibly chic?! I’ll tell you who, Piper + Trey did, and boy did they pull out all the stops. From the lush bouquets to the seriously sweet captures from The Happy Bloom, this is one celebration that we’re going to have and to hold for-e-v-e-r. See it all in The Vault!

From The Happy BloomLove can be found in the strangest of places. And on this special day, love was found in a tiki bar. Piper heard that “that cute med school boy” would be there and suddenly she found herself sipping a fruity cocktail listening to a local band. And there playing on stage….was cute bed school boy. Med school boy introduced himself afterward and the rest is history.

They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. And we believe in that wholeheartedly. Piper + Trey’s wedding day was on a grey, misty Friday here in Savannah, Georgia. But even the grey skies couldn’t damper this incredible classic black & white wedding day.

Piper’s girls wore neutral dresses letting their lush bouquets shine. Piper gifted her girls all a ring, each coming in a golden shell case. These rings symbolized their friendship and gratitude Piper felt for her girls on her big day.

Trey and his guys wore classic tuxes and bowties making this wedding day a sophisticated affair.

Trey’s father passed away three years ago but his dad was there every single second of this incredible day. Trey wore his father’s ring ensuring that his presence would be there from the very beginning all the way until the excited sparkler sendoff.

Right before their first look, Trey opened a gift from Piper. It was a handkerchief with the sweetest words from Piper: “Trey, in all the world there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world there is no love for you like mine. I do love you. – Piper” What an incredible prelude to a romantic first look in Savannah’s Forsyth Park.

This Kitchen Checks Every Box on Our Dream Wish List

We are always on the hunt for our next great kitchen love affair and this home designed by Megan Papworth and Dawn Terry of E.Interiors is offering up a winner. Two things: killer (and we mean killer) lighting and a navy barn door. Those lovelies mixed with an all white kitchen and colorful rugs make for showstopping goodness. Tour the full space shot by Megan Papworth in the VAULT.

Megan and Dawn worked with The Browns to help turn this semi-custom home into a light, bright, modern showpiece. This project took over a year to come to fruition, but it truly is everything that the Brown’s and E. Interiors hoped it would be.

Megan and Dawn helped the Brown’s select all of their finishes and furnishings; everything to the flooring, surfaces, fixtures, and hardware was lovingly selected to go with Kelly’s modern aesthetic.

The trim work and the lighting were the two showpieces of the house and a huge investment in time, energy and money was put into making sure that every fixture and trim detailing was perfect for the space and matched Megan and Dawn’s vision for the home.

All interior doors were painted dark with gold hardware to pop against the all white walls. The client had impeccable taste and style and was a true joy to work with.

Since she had a more modern design aesthetic Megan sourced products for some of their favorite vendors: West Elm, Urban Outfitters, Caitlin Wilson, Lulu and Georgia, Anthropologie, Wayfair, The Cement Tile Shop, and many more.

From the Bride… Matthew and Asha were married March 19, 2016. Asha has mixed heritage and is half Indian, so the couple decided to fuse traditions and invite guests to a two day celebration in New York City where they reside. The first event was Friday March 18, an Indian Sangeet at Ph-d rooftop lounge at the Dream Downtown. The location was significant to them as three years prior, they had met and were stuck in an elevator in that very hotel! The couple wanted to return to the ‘scene of the crime’ to celebrate with friends and family.

The couple opted for minimal decor – just vibrant petals and colorful votive candles to contrast the sweeping skyline views and amazing lighting at the venue. Guests feasted on Indian food and then the festivities began. Accompanied by a dhol player (traditional Indian drum) the bridal party performed dances choreographed by the bride and her friend (both former dancers, the bride a former Radio City Rockette.) The night ended with a raucous dance party.

The color palette inspiration was shades of rosé and gold. The bride’s dress was Marchesa with intricate crystal and pearl detail on the décolletage. The bridesmaids dresses were sequins in alternating shades, each dress with a unique detail to make it their own. The florals were in the same palette, roses, hydrangeas, vintage yet modern. The bouquets were all studded with crystals for an extra sparkle. The groom opted for a navy blue tux and his groomsmen wore black. The groom loves to wear red socks, so he incorporated touches of red into his custom suit supply tux – embroidery on the shirt and under jacket collar, and lining of the jacket. The bride’s nephews also wore red socks to match the groom during the ceremony. The girls got ready in the glamorous Tiffany suite. The matron of honor (bride’s sister) conducted a ‘burn ceremony’ in which each bridesmaid made a wish for the couple and threw it in the fire.

The ceremony was interfaith, drawing on Christian & Indian traditions, designed by the couple and officiant Lisa Traina. In addition to Christian readings, there was the hindu ‘7 steps’ and a rose ceremony for the bride’s late mother. The rose ceremony was conceived by the bride and a tribute to their shared love of the ballet, and when the ballerina pulls a rose out of her bouquet for her partner. During the ceremony, the bride pulled a rose from her bouquet in honor of her mother.During the reception, the couple continued the themes of ‘old New York’ and travel through their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s ‘Come Fly with Me.’ The dip and groom’s moves surprised guests! The couple and guests dance the night away…

Guests left with a luxury scented candle designed by the bride who works for a global fragrance house. She worked with a perfumer to make a custom scent that reflected Matthew & herself – Indian sandalwood, American Cedarwood, to represent their roots, and a touch of coconut as a nod to their family name. Named Wanderlove, the candle represented two individuals coming together, filled with wanderlust and love.
