3 Tips for Curating A Cohesive Wedding Design
Not sure how to bring all of your gorgeous wedding design ideas together? We totally get it.
Between wedding shows, magazines, blogs and Pinterest, there is a TON of inspiration out there. Wedding design can be so daunting and is an area of the planning process many brides struggle with the most. Keep your cool over peonies and place settings as we show you how to have fun (yes FUN) with your wedding design (and save you a few pretty pennies along the way as well)!

Pinning Down Your Pinterest Board
The first step in wedding design is making sense of that Pinterest board you have been swooning over since before you said YES to forever. In most cases, Pinterest boards are a beautiful mess of mixed messages and inspiration. Before you start booking your dream team to execute the wedding of your dreams, you need to lay the groundwork for your design. Is there a consistent color palette, theme or vibe amongst your pinned images? Find the common thread and weed out the rest to keep things fresh and cohesive.
TIP: Be sure to check out the “suggested pin” area next to your Pinterest board for additional inspiration that is in line with your vision!

Mastering Your Mood Board
Now that you have made sense of your Pinterest board, it’s time to put those ideas into a mood board to help translate your vision to vendors. First, pull out color palettes, patterns, and fonts from your favorite images. Then, curate your board down to 10-15 images your design vendors will love you for.
TIP: Don’t be afraid to bring several styles into your mood board! The perfect balance in event design will include a mix of contrasting styles (whimsical with industrial, rustic with romantic, etc).

Breaking Down Your Budget
One of the biggest mistakes you can make when planning your wedding is booking vendors before breaking down your budget. Before you jump into what you want, you need to prioritize what you can actually afford to avoid disappointment. You will find that floral, paper, and rentals dominate your design budget, so be sure to find the magic number for each of these three areas. Once you have the budget set, you can present to vendors (along with your perfected mood board) to make collecting proposals and quotes a snap.
TIP: Be sure to work with your vendors to make your vision work within your budget. Remember that your vendors are experts at what they do and may have alternative ideas for an even more gorgeous outcome.
Remember that event design is a marathon…not a sprint. Take your time and evaluate all options, but don’t overwhelm yourself with too much inspiration. Once you’ve nailed down the details, stop fussing, trust your instincts, and get ready to ooo and ahhh on the day-of.

A Gorgeous Celebration Centered Around Food, Family and Friends

For this Bride and Groom, crafting a day centered around food, family and friends was at the top of their wedding must haves. With the help of A Savvy Event, that wish list became a reality with a celebration built around their Greek and Italian backgrounds set against the beautiful outdoor backdrop of Gundlach Bundschu Winery. From breathtaking family style tables to the most gorgeous portraits, have a look at Anna Lord’s images for the full celebration.

From the Photographer… Nora and Dean… I can’t say enough about them. They’re humble, sweet, incredibly beautiful and their wedding day was filled with special touches for their guests and combined both of their cultures: Italian and Greek. It was really important for the both of them to create a day that intertwined their love of food, family, friends, and each other. Their wedding festivities began at the Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church followed by the reception at Gundlach Bundschu Winery. Nora had mentioned to me that she wanted to ensure that the tables during the reception had the classic Italian look of sharing a meal together; and I think it all turned out perfectly. Their closest family and friends celebrated together amidst the endless vineyards. Something extra special from their day was a surprise that Nora had for her groom. She played the violin for 10 years and Dead had never heard her perform… And has been asking her since they met! Following the introductory toast, she surprised him by playing ‘Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding with the string ensemble. It was a beautiful moment to be a part of!

Modern + Minimal Bridal Style in the Land of Fire + Ice

Iceland is definitely having a moment, and with its otherworldly landscapes, it’s easy to see why. So when this bridal style editorial landed on my desk, I was swept away. The minimal look of the Bride – with her long, straight locks by Angelica of Nika Vaughan Bridal Artists; dewy, natural makeup; and modern, sleek Sarah Seven dress – created delicious contrast against the stretches of black sand and the impressive lava rocks. Needless to say, gallery by Kyle John Photography will transport you to the the land of fire and ice.

From Linn P. WheelerFor a while it was our dream to do an editorial bridal shoot in Iceland. We had all these ideas, and when the opportunity finally arose, we struck. We did a series of four editorials, each portraying a different aspect of the Icelandic nature that is so vast and different than anything we have ever seen before. As we drove around the island, we would be stunned by how the landscape would change drastically within a few miles – lava fields covered in moss would be resting beneath dormant volcanos, sharp cliffs would rise above the fjords in stark supernatural formations and immediately be contrasted by rolling hills covered in sweeping grass surrounding trickling brooks that would turn into massive waterfalls. To us, it is the most beautiful place on earth.

This was the first shoot in our series of four. It focuses on the softness found in the Icelandic nature, the interplay between these rolling grassy hills and the stunning young woman inhabiting these hills, became a modern and minimalist homage to great classics, a la Wuthering Heights. We wanted our Bride’s look to be simple, clean, and youthful – a reflection of and complement to the natural elements that she is in. We wanted her to appear like an inherent part of the landscape, and the landscape a part of her past, present, and future story as well.

A Brunch Inspired Wedding That Pairs Romance With Pancakes

If every meal could be brunch, I would be the happiest of campers. It’s the best of the best and if you’re anything like me (guessing most of you fall firmly in that category) then a brunch themed wedding is what dreams are made of.  This pastel infused shoot designed by Natalie Scott Events, with florals by Magnolia Belle Design and images by Erin Wilson Photography melds classic romance with stacks of pancakes and a sweet tea bar too. It’s pure genius with a side of syrup.

Dreaming of the kind of classic southern fete with a twist brought us to design a wedding inspiration shoot filled with buttery yellow, soft blues, peaches and pinks and all the sweet tea you can dream of. This inspiration shoot was thought out for that classic southern style bride dreaming of a an early afternoon wedding filled with brunch, flavored sweet tea bar, floral prints, organic but bright colored florals and still having that classic but elegant vibe. We chose Spain Ranch in Tulsa Oklahoma as our beautiful venue and showcased their indoor outdoor seating area to show couples a different way to approach a wedding day. I am in love with the color palette and those romantic, southern and classic details. I think most importantly I’m in love with this brides red hair! She looked stunning in her gown and classic hair style. This entire session was photographed on film.

All You Need Is Your Love + a Gorgeous Dress

All you need for your wedding other than the love of your life is a gorgeous dress for the rest to fall into place, and this wedding captured by Elizabeth LaDuca is proof. The Bride’s overall vision for her special day became clear the moment she tried on her oh-so-pretty gown by Monique Lhuillier for the first time. Its delicate, floral lace appliqué was reflected throughout the day, from the paper suite and floral arrangements by F as in Flowers to the linens and cake by Simply Elegant Cakes. Love what you see? There’s more waiting for you in the Vault!

From the Bride… When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married in a place special to us, and where we shared many happy memories. We narrowed it down to Rye, New Hampshire, where Brett is from and where we spend most of our summer vacations. Picking the season, summer, was easy since coming from Puerto Rico, I knew that was the only time I could get my family to New Hampshire without having them freeze! Not to mention that New Hampshire in the summer is so beautiful; the weather is perfect and all the flowers are in full bloom.

As many of our friends and my part of the family, hadn’t been to New Hampshire, we wanted to make sure we captured that New England charm. We found the cutest little chapel in North Hampton with views of the ocean. From there we got a trolley to transport the guests to the reception while they took in the beautiful coast. And when they got to the reception, a vintage VW bus converted into a photo booth welcomed them.

Coming from Puerto Rico, I also wanted to incorporate some of my culture into our wedding, so we were very grateful that one of our good friends, who is bilingual, officiated our ceremony in both English and Spanish. For the reception, we worked with our awesome band (Groovin’ You) to craft a Spanish music set list, and for that hour we brought out LED foam sticks and flower crowns, which are must haves for Puerto Rican weddings. And for wedding favors, we decided on our favorite guava cookies from the island!

I spent so many hours in the SMP Vault looking for inspiration and vendors; I knew what I liked, but I didn’t really have a defined theme in mind until I found, and fell in love with, my wedding dress. The dress itself became the theme! I loved its femininity and how it was able to capture the romantic feel I was looking for. Monique Lhuillier also customized my veil by adding the floral lace appliqué to match the dress perfectly. From that moment on, every detail – from the cake to the linens to the paper goods that I designed – all came so naturally. My florist, Lynn, was able to bring my vision to life in the most gorgeous way with her beautiful arrangements that surrounded the ballroom.

One piece of advice to future Brides: Don’t start checking the weather a month in advance! My mom started the vicious cycle, and we ended up buying and returning umbrellas several times (thank you, Amazon Prime). In the end, it turned out to be the most gorgeous day, and we were so lucky we got to celebrate it with the people we love the most.

This Is What Dress Dreams Are Made Of

Well, I don’t need to look any further; I’ve found the wedding dress of my dreams. This Marchesa masterpiece is stunning, no if’s, and’s or but’s about it. The only thing giving it a run for its money is the beautiful bride wearing it. And she wore it oh so well for her summer celebration, put together by Proud to Plan and with florals by A Garden Party. Alison Conklin captured all – come on, does it get any better than this!?

Dreamy Tropical Destination Wedding in Key West

Dan and Vivian call New York City home base but opted for a destination locale on the big day. They escaped to Key West, Florida with all their favorite people and Destination Wedding Studio made sure the celebration went off without a hitch. Peek at the images by Renee Lemaire and see why we adore this blue and gold fête from beginning to end.

Dan & Vivian planned a gorgeous destination wedding Key West, Florida. While living in New York City, they had the help of Vivian’s father, a Key West local, and Peggy from Destination Wedding Studio to make sure every detail was perfectly executed.

Their candlelit ceremony was in the chapel of Fort Zachary Taylor, surrounded by their closest friends, family, and the beautiful historic architecture. Afterwards, they had a beautiful tented reception in the courtyard of the Fort, complete with lush, pastel florals, gold accents, and soft blue linens lining every table.

Dan and Vivian had many creative personal touches tied into their wedding day. As a talented designer, Vivian created their adorable stationery & paper products for the day. Since their first date was over hamburgers, they served gourmet burger sliders to their guests. One of my favorite hidden details was Dan’s socks, which were dotted with tiny hamburgers! The couple also served some of their favorite Key West treats; cookies from a local bakery and Key Lime pie on a stick (which is definitely worth making a trip to Key West in itself!).

To tie in both of their family traditions, guests took part in the traditional Jewish hora and a Hora Loca for Vivian’s Cuban roots. It was so much fun to see these two families come together!

Your Visual Playbook the Prettiest Brunch Wedding

By now you’ve likely caught a glimpse of our latest bridesmaid dress line with Weddington Way, and today we’re seeing these pretties in action with some brunch wedding goodness. Designed by our girl, Keri of Always Yours Events, with stationery beauty by Amanda Day Rose, it’s a shoot featuring farm-to-table bites with all the feminine design vibes captured by Meredith Jane Photography and JF3 Productions. Peruse the images and head this way for even more.

From Always Yours EventsIn the last few years we have seen the much-loved brunch trend grow, and as a wedding planner and designer I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of designing a wedding around an elegant and romantic brunch. The inspiration for this shoot actually came to light after a recent venue search experience I had with a couple who had found the perfect private estate to host their gorgeous wedding, however the venue only offered weddings during the day with an end time by 8:30pm. While the couple ultimately ended up selecting another wedding venue, I had already begun dreaming of ways that a day wedding could not only be just as spectacular, romantic and magical as an evening wedding, but also a little bit unexpected and unique. And from that real life experience came this feminine and romantic brunch design filled with lovely long tables covered in patterned linens, lush and colorful florals, a farm-to-table inspired brunch menu served family style, gorgeous bridal style, and of course rosé.

As we planned and designed this brunch celebration, the incredible vendor team and I wanted to incorporate a plethora of pretty and unexpected details to each facet of the day. For the venue, we hosted at the newly renovated and gorgeous Dennis Inn on Cape Cod, which is booked by weekend, offering the couple a private estate wedding with the ability to have multiple wedding weekend events. To accommodate the early morning getting ready hours for a brunch wedding, we arranged a light and feminine spread of berry parfaits and fresh French pastries to be enjoyed while the bridal party got ready with beauty stylists Natalie Lelless and Maricruz Polito, and opened their wedding day gifts curated by the bride with the Lux Box Company. The bride wore a modern romantic number and veil by Theia from Head Over Heels Bridal, and the bridesmaids wore these stunning and ethereal long rosé colored gowns with a gorgeous open back (in the style Hazel) from the Style Me Pretty x Weddington Way. Complete with overflowing bouquets filled with sorbet colored peonies, poppies, garden roses, and ranunculus, the bride and her bridesmaids were a vision. The groom and groomsmen donned J.Crew’s bright navy suits silk ribbon tied boutonnieres, and went with a crisp white shirt and sans tie to give a bit more of a comfortable while still dapper daytime look.

For the tablescape, we chose this statement white and pink patterned linen, tying into the color of the coral charm peonies found in the bouquets and working well with the elegant white cross back chairs from True North Event Rentals. Behind the head table The Wild Dahlia created a backdrop by draping the large windows with greenery and roses for a romantic look within the space. On the table we mixed Be Our Guest’s gold rimmed glass chargers with gold and silver flatware and crystal stemware from three different collections to create visual interest, and amongst the florals we added deep rose colored taper candles, acrylic table numbers and a bottle of Belvoir Elderflower Lemonade as favors for each guest. For the brunch, we hand selected classics with a twist for a higher end menu, such as berry parfaits with basil mascarpone, bagel BLTs with homemade smoked bacon and colorful heirloom tomatoes, and and lobster eggs Benedict. For dessert we selected heart shaped ice cream pops in a variety of flavors from the Local Scoop for a playful and unique dessert.

And finally for the stationery suite, the talented Amanda Day Rose created a suite perfect for a modern romantic brunch complete with an RSVP card featuring the title “Brunch with Us,” a personalized crest, sheer textured ribbons, and a vellum envelope calligraphed with gold ink. In lieu of traditional escort cards we tied each white hemstitch napkin with silk ribbon, which we had calligraphed by AMR Calligraphy with each guest’s name.

This design and day was captured so beautifully by Meredith Jane Photography and JF3 Productions, and looking through the galleries and video I love how much a brunch wedding allows for light and airy galleries featuring every aspect of the day in ethereal natural light. This design is one that I hope will inspire couples to think outside the box for their own celebrations, and create something romantic and a little bit unexpected that will leave a lasting impression on their guests.

Are You Making These Common Home Decor Mistakes?

Layering your home with pretty isn’t just about finding the right pieces—it’s also about knowing how to incorporate those pieces, properly. From how to make an area rug work for your room (not against it) to hanging curtains and mounting lighting, I’ve personally made all three of these mistakes. Have you? If so, see how to fix them below!

Area Rugs

Have you ever put down a brand new area rug that you loved in store or online and it just didn’t seem to fit with the room? It’s probably not the size, color or pattern but how you have your furniture placed on it. In a room where multiple furniture pieces are used, like a living room—use area rugs to connect the pieces in your room and create a seamless flow. Avoid placing all of the furniture legs completely on or off of your rug. This can make your space feel too crowded or too empty. A good in between? Front legs on the rug, back legs off.

Window Treatments

Naturally, you’d think that curtains need to be mounted and hung around the window frame, right? Wrong. This can actually make your windows feel a whole lot smaller and let in a lot less light. For height, aim to mount the curtain rod 6-8 inches above the window frame. For width, extend the curtain rod 3-6 inches outside of the frame.

Ceiling-Mounted Lighting

Lighting makes a statement, so make sure to get that statement right with the proper measurements. For an 8 foot ceiling, aim to hang a pendant or chandelier 30 to 34 inches over a table. For each additional foot of ceiling, mount your lighting 3 inches higher. Also, avoid hanging pendants or chandeliers that are wider than your table—lighting should be about a foot narrower than your table.

Inspiration that Brings the Dreamiest Garden Romance to Life

For the recent Bestow Workshop, this group of insanely talented vendors, including Jenny Haas, Tracy Burch, Leah Barry, and Evergreen Flower Co. dreamed up inspiration for a gorgeous garden celebration. Filled with lace, florals, and alfresco dining, it is the epitome of romance and begs the question, why wouldn’t you opt for a dreamy garden affair?

The Bestow workshop was a collaborative vision from Jenny Haas, Tracy Burch, Leah Barry, and Heather Edgar. We envisioned deeply romantic, clean lines, a muted color palette of golden yellow, pink, nude, and a deep emerald green. Our vision for the couple was one that could easily express romantic emotion. Heather created a lovely floral halo, it was perfectly paired with our head table center piece, and bridal bouquet. Kelsey Malie created the most romantic invitations with delicate writing. Everything came together beautifully for our workshop attendees.

Wedding Cake Trends + Traditions

Cutting the cake seems like a small, brief moment on your wedding day. After all, you’ve already said the vows, and isn’t the best part of dessert eating it? But if cutting the cake is important to you, there are ways to make the occasion more memorable and snag some snapshots that you’ll treasure long after the last crumb of cake is gone.

Judy Pak

Cake Cutting Traditions

To smash or not to smash? Whether or not you decide to smash the cake in each other’s faces, just agree upon it beforehand. Remember that some dyes in frosting can stain your dress, and cake dripping from your eyelashes may not make for a pretty photo. But if you’re both lighthearted folks who enjoy a good cake smash, go for it–it guarantees a laugh.

Rebecca Yale Photography

Does the groom get a cake? Some couples opt for a groom’s cake, a decorative one-layer dessert adorned with his favorite sports teams colors or a silly saying. They’re meant to be lighthearted and festive and don’t need to be cut alongside your main wedding cake. For a more modern take, you could make alternating layers for the bride and groom with fillings and frosting flavors you both enjoy.

Take a brief pause. For your photographer to get a sweet shot, take a moment to pause when cutting–don’t just whip the knife through and be done with it.

Trendy Cake Cutters

When it comes to cutting the cake, you could just use a knife from the caterer–or you could go the extra mile and find a cake cutter that’s both fitting for your wedding aesthetic and something you can use again! Here are a few options:

10 Trending Cake Cutting Songs:

When you’re cutting the cake, which song do you want playing in the background? If you’ve already had your first dance, you could easily just reuse that song, but if you’re cutting the cake pre-dance floor, consider using an upbeat jam to get everyone in the mood for some chocolate before the Cupid shuffle. Bonus points if you can tie in a dessert pun!

Shedding For The Wedding – Week 3 #SMPBootcamp

Hey, everyone! We’re officially at Week 3 of bootcamp! How has it been going? Are you noticing any results yet? As always, we’d love to hear your feedback on social with #SMPBootcamp or in the comments below!

I wanted to focus on the importance of sleep this week. Quality sleep — and enough of it — is huge for everyone, of course, but to my fellow brides out there, there’s no exaggerating how crucial sleep is for us, especially when doing a workout program like this!

First and foremost, the #1 effect of sufficient sleep (at least 7 hours per night — I personally can’t function on less than 8) is its effect on your mood and energy levels. When you’re getting enough sleep, you feel happier and more energized throughout the day, making it possible to tackle everything your day throws at you: work, wedding planning, exercise, etc.

In addition to simply having the energy in your day to give these workouts a shot, getting the right kind and amount of sleep is directly linked to how effective your efforts are in the gym. Without getting into the scientific details, poor sleep makes it almost impossible for your body store fat the way it’s supposed to. Essentially, when you’re exhausted and making dumb mistakes throughout your day, so are your fat cells, and that’s going to completely undo your fitness efforts.

Another major downside to inadequate rest is that it will totally derail any plan you have to eat right. Yep, you heard me correctly: not getting good sleep makes you crave unhealthy foods more than you normally would, and it messes with your hormones, too, causing your body to think you’re hungry when you actually aren’t. Without a solid night’s sleep, you might as well not even try to stick to a nutrition plan.

So PLEASE try to really prioritize your sleep for the next five weeks, my dears, because it’s going to be so good for you on so many levels! To do this, cut off your screen time an hour before you go to bed — no Netflix, no shopping on the internet, no scrolling through your Instagram feed (yes, your phone counts as a screen!). Instead, brew some chamomile tea, take a bath, or read a book or a fun wedding planning magazine, and then hit the hay.

Your efforts will be so worth it, I promise — and I’d be willing to bet that you’ll be more diligent about your diet as a result. This week’s nutrition plan is pretty simple, and of course, I’ve got a new recipe for you: my famous stir fry!

Lastly, if you’ve been needing some guidance on cardio the last few weeks, Peter and I are big fans of biking, swimming, running, rowing, or spin class. Hot yoga or a barre class isn’t bad, either! As a reminder, you should be doing the circuit exercises three days per week (i.e. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and then cardio for at least 30 minutes on your off days (i.e. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

So catch those Zs, keep working hard, and I’ll see you next week!

XO,
Molly

5 “Why Didn’t I Think Of That?” Wedding Planning Tips

You’re engaged! Now what?

As I began my planning process I was overwhelmed with the advice I received from family and friends, but on looking back there are a few things I am so happy I did, and would recommend to every new bride.

Create a Separate Email Address

I cannot tell you how much easier this made my life. I created the address right at the start of planning and used it to sign up for planning website, coupon codes, to contact vendors, sending wedding event info to guests, and to manage all planning communications. That way I didn’t have to sort through my regular emails for anything wedding related, and everything I needed was in one place.

Use Multiple Books and Websites for Advice

There is so much planning information out there – you’ll find everything from the height of etiquette, high society planning guide, to the DIY backyard blog. In the early days of planning I read it all, picking and saving only the things that felt like us. We went more formal on the invites, more DIY on the guestbook. Everyone has a different amount of time to plan, a different style – so there’s no need to rely on only one source of truth!

Choose One Method of Information Storage

I’ll totally admit – in the early days I went all in on all things bride. This includes all those planning binders, notebooks, Pinterest boards, apps and websites you’ve heard of. And within a few months I was overwhelmed, looking all over the place for that one detail I needed. Things got a lot easier when I consolidated, so whether you’re old school or super tech savvy, choose the method that works for you and stick to it.

Save Keepsakes and Odds and Ends from Planning

Now that I’m on the other side of our wedding, I can tell you that all those months of planning seem like an absolute blur. That’s why I’m so glad I saved a few odds and ends – I have box of cocktail napkins, fabric swatches and engagement cards that bring the memories of that time right back!

Take a Night Off.

It’s so easy to let wedding planning become a third person in your relationship. Especially as that date got closer and closer it felt like every conversation my fiance and I had found it’s way to flower arrangements, bills that were due, guest list issues, you get the picture. I think the healthiest thing we did was take a night now and then to talk about anything but wedding, and do something fun. After all, your wedding is all about preparing for your life together as a couple, so you shouldn’t abandon that in the engagement!

When the Wedding Is Inspired by all Things Floral, You Know It’s Going to be Good

The Bridesmaids’ printed boho dresses by Show Me Your Mumu, the Bride’s lace gown by BHLDN, and the delightful pop of pattern on the gentlemen’s ties all perfectly incorporated the the floral inspiration for this California wedding. Add in the pretty arrangements by the ever-talented The Flower House, and you’ve got one absolutely beautiful wedding. Kristine Herman Photography and Eagleye CQS Cinematography captured all the blooms, and they’re waiting for you right here.

From Kristine Herman PhotographyIn the middle of wine country in Livermore, Ashley and Jeremy got married in a beautiful olive grove at The Purple Orchid. With flowers inspiring the entire wedding party’s attire, from the Groom’s tie to the beautiful hint of floral print on Ashley’s BHLDN dress. The colors stayed on theme with the name of the venue, with hints of purple scattered throughout the day. The reception was held in the olive orchard behind the resort. The hills and the trees made for the perfect backdrop for this couple’s day.

Multicultural Castle Wedding in Baltimore

There’s so much to love about this wedding, but first and foremost, it’s Kathryn + Arun’s contagious sense of joy captured in the images by Nicki Metcalf. These two brought together all their people for a multicultural celebration at The Cloisters Castle and East Made Event Company planned each moment to perfection. Scroll below for a closer look with even more waiting right here!

Kathryn and Arun’s wedding was full of personal details and sentimental touches, encompassing all of the elements that make a wedding truly meaningful. Held at a unique venue in Baltimore, a 1932 Gothic revival mansion, Cloisters Castle was also the site of Kathryn’s parents’ nuptials some 40 years earlier. As a touching tribute to her late mother’s memory, Kathryn knew she wanted to marry Arun at the Cloisters to continue the sentimental family tradition, and this grand location did just that.

Juxtaposing their own more minimal, relaxed style with the grandeur of a medieval castle, Kathryn and Arun chose farm tables, wooden cross-back chairs, and all white flowers with lush greenery to decorate their reception space. When rain threatened their al fresco dinner plans, they kept calm and still held the ceremony and cocktail hour outside on the patio, with the castle facade in the background. Kathryn’s two bridesmaids wore light gray Jenny Yoo dresses, and the bridal party processed to “Somebody to Love” by Queen.

Guests enjoyed Maryland crabcakes for dinner from Rouge Catering, and later snacked on Frito pie (Texas chili poured over Frito chips), a nod to Arun’s Texas roots. The dance floor was packed until the end of the night, with the groom and the father of the bride hugging and stomping to the beat of the music.

Guests departed with maple syrup favors, homemade from the bride’s family’s farm in upstate New York. It was truly an emotional and memorable evening.

You Must See This Wedding’s Showstopping Ceremony Flowers

We can all appreciate a good ceremony arch, and this one wrapped in olive branches and accented with white, fluffy hydrangeas is a total showstopper. Phosart Photography Cinematography captured the stunning arch along with the rest of the impressive blooms created by Chlorofilli for this wedding in the gardens of a Greek castle, and we’re digging the simple combination of natural greenery and white blossoms.

Whimsical

From Phosart Photography CinematographyThis is a wonderful May wedding that came out of the pages of a fantasy book. Samia, who we had the opportunity to meet months before her wedding when searching for the perfect location, and her love, Khalil, had their natural, garden wedding at Petreza Castle. Living in Dubai, they felt that Greece was the perfect destination, and they were right!

Greece is an amazing place to celebrate love, like the love of Samia and Khalil that has been blossoming for 11 years, believe it or not. They met in university and have been together ever since. Khalil was on the football team, and Samia was on the dance team. They met at a bar on campus and kept seeing each other at sports games and events. The result you can see through this lovely photographic collection.

Their wedding style was natural in white and greenery, our favorite combination this season, which highlighted the beauty of the venue. We loved every detail of this event, from the mint ties of the Groom and his party, to the white balloons that were released to the sky, to the lovely decoration by Chlorofilli flowers, to, of course, Samia in her Monique Lhuiller wedding dress!

A Classic Tented Reception Under the Stars

With a traditional and refined celebration in mind, Jessica and Billy set out to plan a day inspired by the royal wedding. They chose a polo club outside Chicago as the setting and opted for a romantic tented reception beneath the stars. The result was a wedding that’s totally Will + Kate approved and you can see it all with photos by Natalie Probst.

Jessica and Billy drew inspiration from the royal wedding but wanted their wedding to feel anything but traditional. Their Arranmore Polo Club wedding did not disappoint one bit. They wanted to give their guests an all-around incredible experience appealing to all their senses – from décor to food to music. Fleur brought life to the tented reception with black tapered candles, lush magnolia trees, and accents of honed metallics. It was an intimate and oh-so-chic affair.

Shannon O’Brien and AJ Palace are the dream team when it comes to hair and makeup – Jessica and her ladies looked flawless. Jessica wowed in her stunning Carolina Herrera dress and carried a Princess Kate-inspired simple bouquet wrapped in leather, our favorite detail incorporated all throughout the day. Sarah Drake Designs provided the most beautiful paper goods: leather accented invitation suite and custom wax seal menus at each place setting. A seating chart hand lettered on leather and set in the lush ivy of a polo pitch farmhouse led guests to their seats.

And let’s not forget about the food from Boutique Bites! Coming from an Italian family, Jess knew an abundance of delicious food was a must. Preset charcuterie boards at every table and a super fun late night snack – cotton candy served on silver platters left guests ending the night on a good note. We could go on, but you get it, this wedding was absolute perfection.

Classic NYC Romance + Glamour at Top of the Rock + Central Park

NYC may be a thoroughly modern city but there is something classic, something old school New York about this shoot. The glamour, the romance, we love it all. The only way to make it even better? Infuse it with a bit of fun, and that’s exactly what Rebecca Yale did (I mean, how adorable are these two!?). Add in Face Time Beauty Concierge helping this bride-to-be shine her brightest, and this gallery is absolutely picture perfect.

From Rebecca Yale… Paul and Dakota were introduced through their roommates at Penn State in the summer of 2011. After dating throughout college, they moved to Manhattan together so Paul could work in finance and Dakota could work in entertainment. Through busy schedules, they always made it a point to go back to Penn State for football games. Paul proposed on Penn State’s campus a few hours after the Penn State victory over Ohio State in 2016. They chose to do their engagement session on the top of New York City, Top of the Rock, that is. With magnificent views of the city they’ve come to call home, they enjoyed a beautiful summer morning on the roof of 30 Rock followed by a walk through Central Park.
