Self-Care for the Seriously Stressed out Bride

Safe to say, wedding planning is a whirlwind. Between booking a venue, managing your MIL, and all of the milestones and to-dos in between, any bride-to-be might get seriously stressed. But when all else fails (and it’s ok if it does), try a few of these simple self-care tips to combat your nerves. You got this, brides!

Heidi Lau Photography

Spa Day
Every bride needs a day at the spa—seriously, nothing is more relaxing. So take your mind off floral arrangements and head for a manicure and pedicure. Or make it a group activity and invite your bridesmaids, mom, and MIL along too—a great opportunity to check in with everyone (no wedding talk allowed!). Or splurge with a spa package made just for brides, like at Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa.

Work out
Yoga, spin, barre, you name it—a workout will do you wonders. Head outside for a hike with your soon to be hubby or go for a run or bike ride to clear your head. An hour of fresh air or upbeat music can completely change your stressed-out mood. Can we suggest the SMP Bridal Bootcamp with Peter Kraus?

Rachel Havel

Date Night
Remember the reason you got married—because you genuinely LOVE your guy! Rekindle the sparks with a date night: dinner and a movie, brunch at a place that’s been on your “it list,” or a cooking class/wine tasting you’ve always wanted to try. And make it a point to not talk about the wedding as hard as it might be. Taking a step out of the wedding-planning-bubble might just do the trick.

Jose Villa Photography

A Good Night Sleep
It sounds simple, but if you’re tossing and turning with thoughts of appetizer options in your head you might not be getting the sleep you need. Try turning off your phone an hour before bedtime or not wedding planning after dinner. Other easy tricks include a relaxing lavender bubble bath, lavender sachets in your bedroom, your favorite face mask, or just burning a candle and reading a book to help calm you down before bed. Once you’re getting the shut-eye you really need, your days will be smooth sailing.

The Bride Wore 3 Amazing Dresses for the a Hindu Fusion Wedding

3 dresses. 2 ceremonies. 1 perfect day. That was the formula for Jessica and Suchil’s Hindu fusion wedding set in Calistoga, California. And thanks to a top-notch crew of vendors, including IQ Videography, Bella Bridal Napa Valley, Found Vintage Rentals, La Tavola and Jenny Yoo the result was multicultural wedding perfection. A heartfelt thanks to IQ Videography + Susie and Will for capturing each moment you surely don’t want to miss.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/224689817 600 338]

Jessica and Suchil’s wedding at Solage, Calistoga was a celebration and a coming together of two families, two cultures, and two people, in California’s Napa Valley. Napa has also featured prominently in the lives of both Jessica and Suchil. Both runners, foodies and wine lovers, they frequently make trips to Napa and Sonoma. The first trip they took together was to Napa, where they stayed at Solage, so the opportunity to be married at this venue was particularly meaningful.

Festivities started at 4 PM on June 3rd, 2017 with a Baraat, or King’s Parade. The bride and groom entered on horseback, courtesy of Bay Area Carriage, accompanied by the Baraat Band and their bridal party. It is not typical that both bride and groom enter this way; usually, the Baraat is for the groom and his family, but the couple has always skirted the rules (a little) and wanted to be more inclusive. Jessica also insisted that she get to be a part of the Baraat because they are so much fun.

The bride and groom decided to conduct both the Hindu and western ceremonies in one day, which required a tremendous amount of work, creativity, and planning. Kristen Miller and the So Eventful team helped bring this modern Hindu-western vision to life. Jessica wanted the florals to reflect both the colorful tradition of Hindu weddings, but also the more neutral colors that would complement the natural setting and the Napa Valley. Angella Garret Floral design, in partnership with Jessica and Kristen Miller, helped the bride’s complicated vision come to life. She hung a flower curtain from the Mandap which was later repurposed inside the reception space.

The Hindu ceremony directly followed the Baraat and was officiated in Sanskrit by Dharmasetu das. During the Hindu ceremony, the bride wore Sabyasachi bridal couture from Kolkata. The groom wore a sherwani from Telon, in Mumbai.

The western ceremony was officiated by Jessica’s uncle, Derek Anderson. The bride wore Zuhair Murad, and the groom wore a custom dinner jacket by John Urban. The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo gowns. The ceremony was accompanied by music from Synchronicity Strings, and the couple recessed with “No Diggity”, which was played on strings.

The bride changed into a Mira Zwillinger gown for the reception. One of the most memorable parts of the night was when Suchil surprised Jessica with her favorite treat — ice cream from Noble Folk in Healdsburg, CA. After the speeches and the first dances, DJ Dart took over the tables and spun classic hits on vinyl until the early morning.

This Is the Cutest Engagement Session to Usher in Your Long Weekend

From the retro bikini and the sweetest ice cream shop to these two cuties cuddling in the cab of their vintage GMC, this engagement session is an ode to the best things about summer. And we promise, this is indeed a real couple, not a scene from a movie. So before you head into your long weekend, take a moment to soak in this sweet gallery by Erin Stubblefield Weddings + Portraiture and Ready Set Swoon.

From Erin Stubblefield Weddings + PortraitureLike a scene straight out of a Nicholas Sparks movie, Amanda and Nick’s engagement session captures the quiet romance of summertime in small-town Missouri. On a hot summer weekend in July, the two made their way around Steelville nestled in the cab of a vintage GMC. Between the cutest local ice cream parlor and tree-lined dirt roads, Amanda and Nick shared stories and laughs (and of course, a few bites of ice cream!). The day ended at a secluded swimming hole off of the Meramec River. The couple lounged on the riverbank and waded in the crisp water until the sun began to set. As the engagement session concluded, we listened to Amanda and Nick tell us their sweet love story and plans for the future. The conversation was sincerely comfortable and inviting, much like the hidden gem of a town located inside the heart of Missouri.

Summer in Paris is Where Engagement Shoots Shine

Summer in Paris… are there any words as sweet? We think not and these pics by French Grey Photography sure do bring it all to life. These two cuties first met briefly years ago, reconnected and well, the rest is romantic history. But before their happily ever after continued, they captured their love in Paris… aka the perfect idea if you ask us! Enjoy!

From French Grey PhotographyI just love this couple’s natural love and energy during their Paris engagement shoot! Plus the fact that their outfits go so well together made this session a pleasure to capture!

Here’s their cute story in their own words: In 2014, Nick and I met in LA, six weeks before I moved to New York from LA. We were at a mutual friends BBQ in the summer. We were inseparable after that day, and when it came time for me to move neither of us had any idea if we would work out… but three weeks later he was on a plane to NYC

5 Ways To Step Up Your Makeup Game

It is SO easy to get stuck in the same old beauty routine, and in turn fall victim to some of the most common makeup mistakes. I’m talking spidery lashes, blending issues, foundation overuse, dry lips, etc. We’ve all experience one or another (or all of the above!). Take your beauty beat to the next level with these 5 simple tips.

Use a Lash Primer

I personally love a more natural looking lash with a bit of added fullness. Mascara primer is a great way to achieve this look while avoiding the ‘spidery’ look. Tip: apply mascara before the primer dries, for a smooth application.

Blend Foundation Into Your Ears and Neck

Makeup should only go on your face, right? Wrong! Don’t forget to blend your foundation or powder into your ears and neck, right down to the collar bone. We love this multi-purpose brush for a seamless look. If you’re still running into blending issues you might have the wrong shade for your skin.

Go Beyond the Lid

Just like we talked about blending our foundation into the neck and ears above, think similarly when it comes to your eye makeup. If you’re focusing only on the lid, you’re probably ending up with a look that’s too harsh and dramatic. It’s all about the blend beauties. Pull that shadow right up to your brows, into the corners of your eyes and below your bottom lashes as well.

Foundation Overuse

A good rule of thumb when it comes to foundation is: focus on your problem areas. Rather than covering your entire face with foundation, start at those problem areas and blend outward. You want a bit of your natural skin to show through and why cover up the areas that are already winning?

Exfoliate Your Lips

One of the biggest mistakes I made for years and years was to neglect my lips. I always complained that my lips were too dry for lipstick, when really, I just needed to make exfoliating a part of my regular routine! This one is amazing and makes your pout feel super smooth any time of year.

Inspired by the Breathtaking Beauty of the New England Coastline

There’s nothing quite like the natural beauty of the New England coastline and that rugged yet elegant aesthetic is exactly what inspired this ethereal shoot. Combining moody blue hues reminiscent of the ocean with a gorgeous Alexandra Grecco gown and wildly romantic florals by Jayson Munn Design, this is a gorgeous take on an intimate wedding with the perfect coastal backdrop. One look at the sunset infused photographs by Gabe Aceves and you’ll be hooked.

From the Photographer…Recently myself and an A-list group of Vermont and New England Vendors collaborated on an inspiration shoot with gorgeous details and a real couple inspired by the rocky shores of New England and the beautiful sunsets over Lake Champlain. We wanted a classic take on a small wedding, with good food, good drinks and the perfect coastal setting, with just a little bit of modern style. The flowy, ethereal gown from Alexandra Grecco gave us inspiration for the details of the table and the mood and feel of the florals.

Can You Name These 10 Popular Wedding Flowers?

As a wedding blogger, I’ve come to know and love many blooms by their name. If you had asked me five years ago what Scabiosa was or how to describe a Cafe au Lait Dahlia, I would have had nothing for you. So, I’m here to give you a little lesson today on some of the beauties we love around here most. When it’s time to meet with your floral designer, you might just surprise them when you request Juliet Garden Roses!

Anemone

These fluttery petals with black centers are show-stopping and super lovely for modern affairs.

Coral Charm Peony

This vibrant bloom is a showstopper, perfect for a pop of pink pretty in your Big Day.

Cafe au Lait (Dinnerplate) Dahlia

They sure do look pretty enough to eat, but save these beauties for your bouquet.

Juliet Garden Rose

Turn up the romance with these peachy layers of petals.

Bougainvillea

The pronunciation is a bit intimidating on this one, but they sure do make a statement and are rather sweet for tropical fetes.

Ranunculus

These delicate darlings have a mind of their own, gracing bouquets with their wildly turning stems. They also make for lovely boutonnieres!

Lisianthus

These dainty petals make for a beautiful alternative to the all white rose bouquet.

Scabiosa

These burgundy beauties may be small, but they are mighty. Add them to bouquets for gorgeous layer, or make them into handsome bouts.

Protea

This spiky stunner is perfect for tropical fetes!

Poppy

These pretties come in a variety of colors and have a delicate nature but they sure do pack a punch.

Eclectic LA Wedding With All The Old Hollywood Vibes

Any wedding that marches to the beat of its own drum is a wedding we can totally get behind and this LA affair embodies just that. It’s a style mash-up of modern, eclectic and old-school glam for a one-of-a-kind celebration coordinated by Orange Blossom Special Events. Treat yo’ self to a stroll through the full gallery with captures from the lens of This Modern Romance.

From the couple… We first met fifteen years ago in Berkeley, but spent the next decade on separate journeys, exploring the world and growing up. When our paths crossed again in New York in 2014, we discovered that we were re-meeting at similar places in life and had more in common than we could have imagined. What started as an art delivery (an oil painting of Natalie on a denim vest) ended as a profound connection, and we fell in love! Since then, we have rearranged our lives to be together, moving to Los Angeles and celebrating our love and friendship every day.

One Friday evening in March, as we drove up to Griffith Observatory to watch the sun set over Los Angeles, Nathaniel had a ring in his pocket and a surprise in mind. However, LA and the radio conspired to spoil his plans: “For your love/ I’d bring you diamond rings and things right to your door,” sang The Yardbirds through the car radio on our drive up. The road to the observatory was a veritable LA traffic jam and there wasn’t a single parking spot available on the way up or down the hill—a typical LA story. Instead of battling traffic and fate, we went back to our home and Nathaniel got down on one knee.

I was never the kind of girl to daydream about my wedding day, so I didn’t start the planning process with a dream wedding in mind. All I knew was that I wanted an intimate, aesthetically captivating, and meaningful experience that our family and friends would enjoy as much as we did.

We got engaged at the end of March 2016 and were married about eight and half months later in November. Aware of my perfectionist tendencies, I gave myself a short timeline for wedding planning so that I couldn’t overthink the details or spend years in the planning process. Even though planning really started only six months before the wedding date, all decisions were made thoughtfully and vendors were very carefully vetted. And in the end, I couldn’t be happier with our all-star team and how everything turned out.

Since we wanted a visually stunning setting, I searched for a unique, distinctive venue for our marital soirée and was thrilled to find Lloyd Wright’s Sowden House. We were obsessed with the 1920s Neo-Mayan architecture and the gorgeous, lush landscaping. We also love that the house has some Hollywood history and isn’t a traditional wedding venue. This architecturally striking, historic house ended up setting the aesthetic tone for the entire celebration, with a nod to Old Hollywood.

In the tradition of quirky L.A., we had an unconventional yet beautiful, meaningful ceremony involving crystals and burning sage, officiated by my best friend. In addition to the vows we made to each other, our officiant led a community vow of love and support that our family and friends repeated to us. We also made individual commitments to ourselves, each with a hand-selected crystal to keep as our lifetime “wedding stones” to guide and protect us, as well as to remind ourselves of the power of our own strengths as we continue our personal journeys as individuals and as a married couple.

3 Reasons Why I Hated Being Engaged

On a warm December day in Michigan, my now husband got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. We’d dated for 6 years through high school and college prior to getting engaged. I was immediately filled with overwhelming joy and thankfulness. Shortly after he popped the question, we set the date for a June wedding on Lake Michigan.

I was so excited to marry my best friend, but it was after things settled in that I began to hate being engaged. Here’s why…

Anagram Photo

No Privacy
Once you get that ring on your finger, your personal business immediately feels like it becomes everyone’s business. I was quickly bombarded with questions that caught me off guard and crossed through my personal boundaries. I got questions about the cost, the guest list, the message the officiant was giving, how the sex talk went in marriage counseling, and everything in between. I was frequently shocked by the questions I received and I didn’t know how to react. I constantly felt like my fiancé and I were under the microscope, and while others may love that attention, I really didn’t.

Looking back, I wish someone would have said, “hey let’s go shopping or go for a run…” or anything to give me a break from all of the questions and remind me that I’m a person and not just a bride to be, or future daughter in law, or future wife.

Katie Nicolle

Event Planning
Pinterest gives you the false hope that all of us have a tiny wedding planner inside of our souls who can create elaborate weddings out of THIN air. I was great at visualizing what I wanted and bringing it together (sorry but I’m going to toot my own horn for a hot sec) BUT I didn’t like playing phone tag with the vendors, choosing the food, re-arranging the seating chart for the hundredth time, or writing up the invitations.

For me, the fun parts of planning included shopping for a dress, and picking out the flowers. Everything else was stressful and not enjoyable. Looking back, I wish I had hired an event planner to deal with everything and everyone so that I didn’t have to.

Jose Villa Photography

Loneliness
On many occasions during my engagement, I didn’t feel like the “normal” bride. There were a few things I did that may surprise people… I didn’t go to the cake tasting, the first time I visited the venue was the day of the wedding, I didn’t tear up when I picked out my wedding dress, I felt uncomfortable opening wedding presents in front of everyone, and I wasn’t jumping up and down with excitement every second of every day.

I felt like I didn’t fit the mold of “blushing bride” and so I was constantly second guessing myself. I couldn’t relate to many normal emotions and things brides have and do which made me feel isolated. Looking back I realize that each bride is completely different. We’re not all the same just because we’re technically a “bride”. I wish I’d known that then.

Even though being engaged was not for me, marriage is—and I love being married to my best friend.

The Secret to Stunning Indoor Wedding Photos

We’re all used to seeing amazing wedding photography featuring expansive landscapes and veils blowing in the wind. But who says you can’t get equally as breathtaking photos in an indoor venue? Read on to discover what it takes to get some great images of your indoor wedding!

Jessica Lorren Photography

You may realize that you need to focus on indoor photography for a number of reasons, the most obvious being weather. Put so perfectly by NYC wedding photographer Amy Rizzuto: “If you know you have a beautiful indoor location, you will save so much time the week leading up to your wedding NOT checking the weather app every 15 minutes.” And what’s more crucial than saving time when planning a wedding?

Carmen Santorelli Photography

Choosing a Venue
According to Amy, “try look for venues that have a lot of natural window light! This allows for bright, airy images and more natural skin tones. Also check out the colors of the ceiling, walls and floors. Light, neutral colors help reflect pretty light, whereas dark ceilings or vibrant colored walls could reflect unflattering light. For example, if the walls are red, chances are your skin tones will end up looking slightly red as well.” Have a look at other weddings and the images that have come out of the venue. This can help you and your photographer decide on certain shots. Just don’t forget a key element…

Lance Nicoll Wedding Photography

Lighting!
Any photographer knows that both composition and lighting make for a good photo. When having photos done indoors it’s crucial to find natural lighting, and with minimal shadows. As we mentioned, large windows in bright spaces will create a picturesque setting for you and your groom, family, and bridal party.

Amy says, “It would be really helpful to let your photographer know your wishes to capture indoor photos. This will give them the opportunity to fully prepare and bring any additional lighting that will help create the most beautiful images.”

Michael and Carina Photography

Decor
In a lot of ways, you can let a stunning venue do the heavy lifting for you. Having a space with beautiful interiors will make for a really dynamic image and will essentially do a lot of the décor for you! Add in some great greenery and florals and you’re set! At the same time, use the space for the structure and get imaginative with your altar. It’s a great chance to bring the outdoors in- with beautiful blooms, greens, and any imagery you like. A gorgeous altar will not only set a tone for the ceremony but will hopefully serve as a good setting for several photo opportunities.

Overall, remember that how you feel in the space will translate in a photo. So if the interior is uplifting and positive, you will be sure to end up with stunning wedding photos!

Intimate Parisian Wedding With 11 Guests

If you’ve ever wondered what a small, sweet yet insanely stylish wedding in Paris looks like, consider this your lucky day. Thanks to the beautiful images by Michelle Boyd Photography, we’re getting a glimpse into Hannah and Jordan’s intimate celebration with 11 of their dearest friends and family. It’s a wedding that proves less is truly more and you can watch it all unfold right this way.

Hannah & Jordan were married this February in Paris, surrounded by their 11 closest family and friends. When Hannah asked if I would be up for traveling with them to my favorite city in the world… well there wasn’t really any decision to make, was there?! Hannah and Jordan are two of the most relaxed, kind people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

From Hannah… Because Saturday was looking rainy, we decided to move our portraits to Friday while the rest of the crew was on a Fat Tire Bike Tour wandering around the city. Before taking pictures, Jordan and I went to pick out flowers from one of the street shops and grab a quick coffee at a cafe with our sweet photographer, Michelle, and her husband, Bryan.

Fortunately Michelle is a renaissance woman and was able to help build my bouquet, put my dress on and do my hair! Seriously, the best. Jordan came to my room to get me and we had a few private moments together before heading into the city for our pictures. First, a random alleyway I spotted out the side of our Uber and then on to the Palais Royal and Notre Dame.

Saturday morning finally arrived and I think I got four hours of sleep. Jordan and I went on a walk together that morning before the girls and guys split up. The guys had some of the best barbecue of their lives (in Paris, I know?!) at Melt – a bbq joint owned by some Dallas boys while the girls enjoyed coffees, cheese trays and more macarons than you could ever want while Victoria did our hair and makeup.

My dress was made by Coutures by Laura, the shoes are my favorite ever from Sevilla Smith, and the invitations were written by Kristy Sugg, Illustrated by Hayley Johnson. Oh, and of course, boutonnieres by our ever talented photographer, Michelle.

We had our ceremony and reception dinner at The Peninsula Paris where the staff truly went above and beyond. I am still so amazed and so thankful for how they treated us!

To say I cried the entire time would be an understatement. Something about having so few people there just made the whole weekend incredibly special. Standing out in the hallway with my sweet dad was so surreal, cue the tears. When I turned the corner and saw, not only Jordan, but all of our family I just started bawling.

All in all, we truly loved having our wedding this way and have not once regretted it or wished we could change one thing. We were able to focus on the things that mattered most to us – our marriage, our families, and that we enjoyed our time together. It is certainly not for everyone, but it is definitely worth considering!

A Classic Soiree That Will Bring a Smile to Your Lips

This classic soiree at The Stanford Faculty Club has absolutely made my day, because as Alex W Photography puts it, “Mina and Joe’s love for one another is so real and palpable that it’s hard not to have a smile on your face when you’re around them.” And it’s absolutely clear, as each and every photo of their nearest and dearest features the most magnificent grins.

From Alex W. Photography I have been eagerly anticipating Mina and Joe getting married. When I initially spoke with Mina, and she told me that she would be having a timeless Stanford wedding, I could hardly contain myself! I knew that this was going to be a classic affair. What really touched me about these two is how truly in love they are and their focus of the day was on their family.

I spent the morning photographing Mina and her Bridesmaids in the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto. The bright and airy suite was the perfect backdrop for Mina’s accessories. We headed downstairs from the suite to the gorgeous lobby for some bridal party photos. Filled with natural sunlight that poured in from the expansive windows, this was the perfect complement for such a great looking group of people. We soon left the hotel and headed out to Stanford Memorial Court. Boasting classic architecture, warm stone columns, and cascading ivy, it set the scene for Mina  and Joe’s first look. Mina and Joe’s love for one another is so real and palpable that it’s hard not to have a smile on your face when you’re around them. We spent the rest of our time there exploring the campus, taking advantage of the golden natural light.

Their ceremony was held at a local church that had the most beautiful window behind the altar that exposed the giant redwood trees outside. We took the bridal party there after the “I dos” for some nature portraits and then returned back to the Stanford Faculty Club for the reception. Mina was carried in Joe’s arms for the grand entrance, by far the best way for a Groom to introduce his Bride. During dinner, Joe and Mina gave heartfelt speeches to their friends and family and shared a song with their parents on the dance floor. Everyone danced the night away, and Mina even managed to surprise Joe with a dance performance of her own. I had the absolute best time with these two and can’t wait to return up North for another Stanford wedding!

This Wedding Captures the Best of the Copper Craze

Inspired by the Arizona landscape, Alli and Josh’s al fresco celebration held in the Country Club at DC Ranch exudes effortless style. The key? A warm, copper palette carried through from the stationery to the floral vessels, plus plenty of succulents expertly incorporated throughout the day by Butterfly Petals. If you’re loving the copper craze as much as we are, head to the Vault to see all the snaps of this desert vibe wedding, captured by Melissa Jill Photography.

From Melissa Jill Photography After two years of spending all of their time off traveling to friends’ weddings, Alli and Josh needed a break! When they finally had a chance to take a real vacation together, they made it count – they took a glorious trip to Belize! Unfortunately, they weren’t the only ones enjoying the beauty of Belize, and though they tried for several days to find a pier where they could be alone to enjoy the view, other people were always around. So when they finally came across a pier with no one in sight one day after breakfast, they were thrilled! They relaxed on the end of the pier, feet dangling over the side, and admired the crystal clear water and blue sky. Josh decided to take advantage of the opportunity. After a lot of conversation and one excited fish sighting, Josh took a deep breath and looked over at Alli. Surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean and holding a tiny box in his hand, he said, “I wouldn’t change anything about this trip…except to have you as my wife.”

For their wedding style, Josh and Alli drew inspiration from the Arizona desert, creating a clean, modern look with succulents and touches of copper. The Country Club at DC Ranch offered a beautiful desert backdrop for the ceremony, where large succulents in metallic containers lined the aisle. A wooden arch draped in flowers, and gauzy white fabric lent an air of romance. The reception was held outdoors in a charming stone courtyard, where the copper tones of the flatware and centerpieces reflected the warmth of the Arizona sun. The guests dined and danced under the stars.

It was a dream come true to photograph Josh and Alli’s wedding! Not only are they incredible people in their own right, but I photographed Alli’s sister’s wedding nine years ago. It’s such a blessing to connect with a family again and again over the years!

Beach Resort

From Stephanie Brazzle… Being in a tropical place like Playa Mujeres is always very inspiring. The Finest Playa Mujeres Hotel and Spa has lush gardens with fresh flowers in every corner. Feeling the breeze, the sand on your feet, and the sound of the waves; it really brings you back to nature. Amy and Adil are a fun couple to say the least. They work hard and play hard. I knew it was going to be not only a beautiful wedding but a fun wedding. I arrived to the suite that morning to see beautiful flower crowns for every bridesmaid by Canteiro Weddings. The groomsmen were dressed in blue and white attire and the bridesmaids in a pale blush. It was an intimate wedding filled with joy and tequila and perfect amount of sea breeze.

Pink on Pink Will Set Your Heart Aflutter!

For the Bride who loves pink, this inspiration session dreamed up by Rebecca K. Events and Styling will set your heart aflutter! Lucy Davenport masterfully captured the concept, which combined feminine touches – like the playful glittery shoes by Charlotte Mills – with moments of modern – like the ghost chairs by Hire It. Jump right in to the gallery,  because this one, lovelies, cannot be missed.

From Rebecca K. Events and StylingThe idea behind this inspiration shoot was to create a style that represents the Rebecca K. Events client – a modern, stylish Bride that truly loves a bit of pretty on her wedding day, from gorgeous flowers to elegant place settings, but also wants to have splashes of fun and sophistication thrown in throughout the wedding celebration.

The color scheme for the shoot was inspired by the colors of my brand: blush pink {pretty}, black and white {modern}, and little bits of gold {fun}. I was lucky to be able to coordinate an amazing dream team of vendors for the shoot! Together we created a gorgeous piece of inspiration for a sophisticated Bride-to-be. I knew I wanted to create something pretty, dramatic, and feminine, but I also did not want it to be over-the-top girly. I added in modern touches using clear chairs, white sequin linens, and small dotted runners with gorgeous flowers by Amy from Bo Boutique. The Bride’s overflowing bouquet in shades of pink added a gorgeous, dramatic effect for this London Bride. The stylish setting of a studio was the perfect venue for the entire shoot! The white and brick walls at Loft Studios is perfect for a city couple looking to transform the space for their own unique day. The studio allows a couple to truly change the space into whatever they wish it to be. In this case, we had beautiful, white clean walls with branches hanging that added a touch of color and flowers without being over the top.

I was so lucky to have the wonderful Lucy Davenport shoot the day for us. The images are so beautiful and dreamy having been captured on film. Investing in gorgeous photography on your wedding day is something I always highly recommend to my clients, and Lucy’s work is truly a reference to what I mean.

There were a lot of little personal details sprinkled throughout, which is something I think is very important to any wedding day – not just creating a pretty wedding, but also having meaning behind it. From the stunning wedding cake by Cakes by Krishanthi that included a touch of pink with a huge statement peony, similar to some found in the Bride’s bouquet, to the beautiful London-themed welcome boxes for the guests, to the floral themed personal cocktails on the bar, to the glittery shoes peeking out from beneath the Bride’s wedding dress, to the after party jumpsuit with mini skirt, it was a beautiful shoot for many Brides to get inspiration for their day from!

This Celebration Started with a Surprise Puppy as a Wedding Gift!

This bride’s gift tops the charts in terms of cuteness. As a surprise for her Groom, she gifted him with the sweetest pup at their first look. It will give you all the feels and the celebration that followed is equally as heartfelt. Planned by Sweetgrass Social with blooms by Farm City Flowers, this day will dazzle you with it’s bright bold color and pull you in with its fur baby cuteness. Pore through the sweet images by Rachel Red Photography right here.

From the Photographer…Bethany surprised Warrie with a brand new puppy during their first look! Bethany grew up visiting this private plantation on Fripp Island, South Carolina, every summer as a child and has so many fond, personal memories attached to the property. She decided to add one more by throwing the bash of a lifetime on their wedding day. Sweetgrass Social was in charge of the design and went over the top with a tent lighting system that made the top of the tent look like shadows of trees with spanish moss. The cross at the altar is engraved with every couple’s name who has ever been married on the property.
