This Couple Found a U.S. Wedding Venue That Looks Just Like the French Countryside and It’s Game Changing

If you’re on the hunt for a U.S. destination that emulates the French Countryside, look no further my friends. With it’s rustic, old-world walls covered in climbing ivy and sprawling farmland views, Goodstone Inn is absolutely full of charm and happens to be where Ida Rose EventsCape May Flower & Co. and Emily Blumberg chose to see out their latest wedding editorial. It showcases the beauty of fall and winter, proving that the east coast boasts some pretty incredible gems when it comes to cold weather weddings. Step inside the full collection of inspiration here in the gallery when you’re done below!

We came up with this shoot hoping to showcase the beauty that is Virginia even in the dead of winter. We wanted to create a romantic versatile wedding, something that is more on the fall side but could also work throughout the whole year. We loved the idea of tying in yellows, oranges and light pinks at this historic mansion nestled into the countryside of Virginia.

We really wanted to play off the unique elements at this venue, from the ornate doors, open fields and lots of greenery, sort of a French countryside. We used details that went along with the venue, such as the brides Gucci shoes which we felt really matched the whole feel of this space, long stem candles for the table scape and touches of gold to add romance.

Also, we wanted to include a touch of modern, we did this by incorporating a more sleek bridal gown from Alexandra Grecco, not having calligraphy fonts on the paper goods, but something that had more lines and a bold font, and the ghost chairs used for the ceremony and reception.

One of my personal elements from this shoot was the monochromatic cake with it’s silk bow, I absolutely loved the simplicity and it’s femininity. Sweets by E did such a beautiful job creating this beautiful cake.

Giant Floral Wreath – Making An Already Gorgeous E-Shoot Even Better!

I’ve already taken engagement shots. My wedding came and went. We don’t have any major anniversary coming up anytime soon. And yet… I’m trying to figure out any way possible my hubby and I can have a photo shoot with a hanging floral installation like this one here by Petals and Hedges. Just look at these pics – gorgeous, right!? Elizabeth Forgarty captured it perfectly for this adorable and fashion-forward e-shoot and thanks to this gallery, we’ll be dreaming of recreating this for the foreseeable future!

From Elizabeth Fogarty… This engagement session proves that hanging floral installations should totally be a thing for engagement sessions too! Petals and Hedges created an incredible floral design with a laser cut wedding date in the middle. It makes for the perfect save the date pictures!

And  who says you can’t have two fabulous dresses for your engagement session? Tricia wanted to get the bridal look with the white dress but also a little sexy look with the off the shoulder deep wine colored dress. She absolutely rocked both!

Historic Estate Wedding With Secret Garden Style

If you’ve ever dreamed of a secret garden-style wedding, allow me to introduce this summertime Virginia fête that’s storybook romance brought to life. Captured by Jodi & Kurt Photography, it’s the love story of Hannah and Dyer who tied the knot on the bride’s family estate that’s steeped in history and beauty. We invite you to get lost in the pretty and head over to the gallery for a full glimpse into this truly timeless day.

From Jodi & Kurt PhotographyLong-time residents of the picturesque Middleburg, Virginia community, Hannah and Dyer wanted their home-based nuptials to capture the elegance and grandeur of the Reuter family’s historic estate.

Established as Glenstone in the early 1920s, the rolling pastures of this quintessential hunt country property have been the foundation of the Reuter family since the late 1790s. At the very heart of the farm’s 1200 acres stands an incredible 250-foot tulip poplar tree that is believed to be over 300 years old. It was under this magnificent tree so deeply rooted in both the Reuter’s land and their hearts that Hannah and Dyer exchanged vows.

Prior to the ceremony, guests were greeted with Champagne in Glenstone’s formal Boxwood Garden; the first of several unique outdoor spaces used throughout Hannah and Dyer’s celebration. Following an intimate first look in the estate’s Secret Garden, the couple joined their 300 guests beneath the imposing poplar.

Immediately following their joyous ceremony, guests made their way to the Eastern Garden, which was built to celebrate Hannah’s grandparent’s 65th wedding anniversary. Over cocktails and conversation, guests feasted on seasonal hors d’oeuvres prepared by Middleburg’s famed Red Fox Inn, which has been owned and operated by the Reuter family for three generations.

Dinner and dancing ensued under a lantern-lit tent on the South Lawn, featuring an abundance of flora from the estate’s grounds.

This dress. Just stop for a second and take a look (don’t worry, we’ll wait right here)… from the gorgeous hue to those layers of tulle, it’s pure perfection courtesy of Tara La Tour. Add in the florals from Holly Chapple (seriously stunning) and Elizabeth Fogarty’s pics and we’ve got a treat on our hands. See every lovely angle and romantic moment in our Vault right this way!

From Elizabeth FogartyThe entire inspiration, from the cake to the invitation came from Tara La Tour’s soft and whimsical gown. We wanted this editorial to have different textures and tones. The bouquet is what makes the shoot so special with its volume and shape. It’s an inspirational piece for brides to step away from the traditional white gown and round bouquet and to embrace new designs.

The Bride Wore a Purple Wedding Gown And We’re Obsessed!

Russ and Erykah didn’t want the typical wedding day. They wanted a tight-knit celebration surrounded by 15 of their dearest friends and family, so they planned what just might be the prettiest styled elopement ever. Of course, with a dress like Erykah’s you have to have a statement bouquet and headpiece designed by La Fleur Du Jour to match, and our faves Michael and Carina didn’t miss a single second behind the camera. Head to the gallery and see just how chic an elopement can be.

From Michael and Carina PhotographyThis elopement at the Salamander Resort in Virginia was intimate, stylish, unique and oh so romantic. The bride was rocking a lilac gown, a blueberry bouquet and romantic lace-up shoes. The couple married in a romantic Virginia setting, surrounded by only 15 friends and family. It was so beautiful!

And while it was a unique elopement, nothing was missing at all from this wedding. The calligraphy paper suite, the neatly decorated farm table, and the elegant cake, all made for beautiful accents. Personal pies made a beautiful addition to the wedding cake. This celebration was so special, and I know the trendsetting couple will inspire many brides and grooms-to-be.

Add in this ethereal lady – and Amie Decker Beauty’s talents – and I’m planning on printing these pics for myself. Only problem: where to start? I’ll be in our Vault as I try to decide

Romantic Hunt Country Wedding in Virginia

In my humble opinion, there is nothing more heartwarming than an intimate wedding. Take this romantic fete tucked away in the mountains of Northern Virginia. Complete with rolling hills, spectacular views and sunny yellow flowers, Kristen Lynne captured every detail right here!

From Kristen Lynne Photography….Tucked away in the mountains of Northern Virginia, Aden and Steve hosted their intimate wedding at the Goodstone Inn. The entire property was reserved for their family and friends as they celebrated over an incredible weekend.

Aden got ready in the gorgeous Manor House along with her bridesmaids and man of honor as her groom, Steve, got ready in the lovely Spring House. The spring sunlight filled the rooms as the excitement stirred up for the ceremony!

Aden and Steve said their vows with the rolling hills and Goodstone farm in the background. What a spectacular view for their guests on this perfect wedding day. Yellow sunflowers accented the bridesmaids blue dresses, which were the perfect match for Aden’s “something blue” Jeffery Campbell shoes!

The vintage equestrian theme was perfect for Aden’s style and paired seamlessly with the rural Hunt Country venue. The guests enjoyed an outdoor, tented cocktail hour followed by a lovely plated dinner and lots of fun dancing! As the sun set the lights under the tent came on and provided a romantic scene to wind down the evening.

Southern Black Tie Wedding at Goodstone Inn

An oh-so-charming garden estate paired with everlasting love is the recipe for a wedding day done right. But add in a good dose of glamour planned in the hands of Strawberry Milk Events and you’ve got yourself nuptial perfection. From the surprise mariachi band to the mini margaritas (yes, please!) that followed, every capture from the lens of Abby Jiu is fit for a modern-day fairytale and you can see it all here!

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/116748287?color=e6d1b8&byline=0&portrait=0 600 338]

From Strawberry Milk Events… Kristen and Kevin were married in Middleburg, Virginia at the oh-so-charming Goodstone Inn & Estate, in wine and horse country. The wedding party took over the 265 acre estate for the weekend – which consists of 6 historic guest houses spread all over the property, with a total of 18 bedrooms. All are impeccably furnished in elegant French and English cottage decor. Although only an hour south of D.C., guests felt like they were a world away. Guests enjoyed the heated pool with breathtaking views of the blue ridge mountains, hiking, canoeing, visiting the working farm, gardens, acclaimed farm to table restaurant, etc. The couple was married in front of the gorgeous ivy-covered stone wall – the ruins of the estate’s original mansion.

Kristen donned a stunning Carolina Herrera gown. After the ceremony, guests passed through the ivy wall “door” to poolside cocktail hour hour where local fare such as mini Virginia ham biscuits were served. The bar featured “his and hers” cocktails – the Tequila Sparkler and the Gentleman’s Old Fashioned. The wedding reception was a fun contrast to the “au natural” setting of the Inn – a very elegant yet fashion forward cocktail style style reception featured a custom, graphic black and white dance floor, oversized crystal chandelier and lots of gold and mirrored furniture.

Florals in shades of pink were lush and in true garden style to tie in the surroundings. The reception had mixed seating (bar height tables, low cafe tables and lounge furniture) with stations of yummy local food such as heirloom tomato salad, spring vegetable risotto, roasted organic chicken, seared scallops and prime rib – most of which is sourced right from the farm! At sunset, the couple stole away for a private moment to read letters they had written to one another earlier that day. Sound Connection from Andy Kushner Entertainment kept the dance floor packed and the party going! Later in the evening, a surprise mariachi band serenaded guests while wait staff passed out mini margaritas.

Fashionable Engagement in the Fields of Virginia

I truly believe that a gorgeous dress and a fancy bow tie are the perfect answer to a sprawling field engagement. Now plop some pretty greenery on your head crafted by Floral And Bloom Designs and grab a talented photog like Vicki Grafton and the result is imagery that so perfectly captures that newly engaged glow. Click here for so much more.

From The Bride… Kelly and I met as teenagers in middle school and were lucky enough to have found each other so young and we have been together ever since. Our engagement session was perfect. It was a few days after our fourteen and a half year anniversary. A lot of people are pretty surprised we’ve been together for that long. Trust me when I say it is a long time, but days like this brings me back to the day I first fall in love with him. I could not have imagined a better way of spending time with each other, being in the moment right there with him, holding my hand and kissing me. Our shared love of the scenic outdoors of Virginia took us to this charming Inn in Middleburg. I wanted our photos to convey the soft romantic look. Vicki perfectly captured us and how in love we are with each other.

Elegant Dinner Party + Sleepover

As I inch my way towards my thirties, the idea of dinner parties becomes significantly more appealing. Bottomless glasses of wine, fancy appetizers, over-the-top desserts? Sign me up! Throw in a post-dinner party slumber party, with movies & popcorn no less, a la Events In The City and you’ve got yourself one happy dinner guest. Captured by  Abby Jiu, there’s more where this came from right here!

From Events in the City… The Goodstone Inn is a hidden gem in Virginia Farm Country, perfect for a weekend getaway or a romantic wedding soiree. Events In The City partnered with the Inn to host some of the top wedding planners in the Washington DC area for a night of glamping at its finest. The group was given tours of the property and information about events that could be hosted at this historical site. The guests we also wined and dined in the French restaurant on site and treated to incredible tablescape designed by Events In The City with florals by Holly Heider Chapple. The rich tones of green, pinks and golds were a great accent to the carriage house that held the restaurant on the property.

Events In The City happily tied in the horse country atmosphere by creating gold horseshoes that served as the placecards. Everyone grabbed theirs as a keepsake to take home to remember the lovely night away from the hustle and bustle of the city. More special touches to this adventure included calligraphied room keys for each guest so they could access their cottage for the evening. Michele from Meant To Be Calligraphy lovingly hand wrote each name out so when they checked in they knew where to head.

A sleepover that night included snuggling by the fire, watching Troops Beverly Hills, popcorn and movie theatre candy. Not to mention, a fabulous breakfast the following morning by The Goodstone Inn just before checking out!

Intimate Goodstone Inn Wedding

With just nine guests to bear witness, this wedding is the epitome of intimate. But more than that it’s a celebration of love fashioned to perfection by Holly Chapple Flowers, Events In The City and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They made certain Lauren and Kevin’s day was every bit as thoughtful as a traditional affair, and you can watch the whole story unfold in the gallery from Abby Jiu right here.

From Laura Ritchie of Events in the City… I had the honor of designing a gorgeous and unique wedding of only nine people. Lauren and Kevin decided to share their special day with only immediate family at The Goodstone Inn in Middleburg, Virginia. A historical inn situated in Virginia horse country on two hundred acres. Abby Jiu captured the entire night, starting with the ceremony held in front of an ivy covered stone façade, which was the original house from the 1930’s on the property. The ceremony was serenaded by a cellist and violinist as the guests looked on. After the ceremony ended guests were greeted with glasses of champagne and escorted down a grass pathway behind the carriage house for the reception.

Guests were then treated to a candlelit dinner on the stone patio, which was overflowing with dahlias from Holly Chapple Flowers. Events in the City sourced décor from multiple vendors to create this unique look, some of which included Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and DC Rental. The look was a perfect mix of a traditional wedding however it boasted tons of textures and creative layers of special touches to really make it look lux. From the unique combination of chairs to the layers of antique chargers on the table, we really strived to not miss one detail. Luckily with only nine guests total, it was a joy to really get into the experience for each attendant and make sure it was immaculate.

The five course dinner hosted by The Goodstone Inn’s highly rated French restaurant onsite was a huge factor during the night. Guests noshed on the creative menu personally picked by the bride and groom. Laughter, great conversation and the string duets music was a great reminder of really what a wedding is all about. The joining of two lives and the happiness of a family growing. The union of this couple witnessed by such an important and intimate group and it really was an affair to remember.

Virginia Wine Country Wedding from Gabe Aceves

There’s really nothing I love more than a good ol’ Southern wedding. But this one, SMPers, is a little extra special. It’s smothered in that southern charm sauce, with the cutest B&B setting you EVER did see. But even more than that are the photos from Gabe Aceves, captured in the most gorgeous, artful fashion. They tell the story all on their own — making a trip to the gallery a complete and total must. Ready, set…swoon.

From the Bride… Shortly after Dan and I were engaged, when looking for venues to hold our wedding, the first place that came to mind was The Briar Patch. We dated long distance for a year before living in the same state. We cherished the time we were able to have together during that first year, and our first weekend getaway together was to the Briar Patch so it holds a special place in our hearts.

Once we chose the location, everything fell into place over the next 15 months with much help from our families. Dan makes fun of how much I over-research every little decision, but he now agrees it paid off. We found a great team of people to make our day perfect. As far as the decor, I have always loved the look of vintage things that have a story behind them. My engagement ring was my grandmother’s, and my wedding band is made from a ring my mom purchased while pregnant with me. We were married by Dan’s Stepfather under a beautiful chuppah that was started by Dan’s great-grandmother, then worked on by his grandmother, and finished my Dan’s mom to be used for our wedding. We had a vision of how we wanted things to look, but we weren’t quite sure how to execute it on our own. Fortunately, I had a chance encounter with Rosanna of Bella Villa, a great shop down the street from the Briar Patch. She completely understood what we wanted, and made everything look so beautiful.

We really wanted to utilize the patio outside of the ballroom for our guests to enjoy, and she transformed it into lounge area using her beautiful pieces. We served a family-style meal, had a great time choosing our bar with the help of Dan’s sister’s boyfriend, who owns a fantastic wine store, and opted for a gelato bar instead of cake. We wanted everything to reflect us, and be fun for our friends and families. We feel so blessed and had the most amazing wedding day we could have imagined.

Click here to see the entire gallery of images!

From Anne Robert PhotographyAfter having found our venue for another shoot, a private estate in Middleburg, VA, Kelley and I were so inspired by the lush greenness of our surroundings that we decided we had to create another, more summery concept for a second shoot. We both knew we wanted a colorful palette and bright florals which would exude the feeling summer brings so when we came across Erdem’s Asta print dress we knew we had our concept. We used the design which contained nautical stripes and a bold floral pattern as our inspiration throughout the shoot from the table linens to the bride’s hair piece and jewelry.

Just like the dress, we wanted our “wedding” to be playful, edgy, bright and feminine all at the same time. For the tablescape, we combined nautical navy blue and white striped linens with vibrant colors such as red, fuchsia, yellow, orange, blue and green in the Anthropologie “Flights and Fancy” dinnerware, red stemware and floral arrangements created by the always amazing Holly Chapple. To unify the colors, we added touches of rustic elements and gold accents in the centerpieces using wood and gold frames. The frame and floral concept was carried out again above our “Favorites Table” which featured all of the bride and groom’s favorite foods and again in the seed packets we envisioned as favors for our guests.  The Rivini short rosette dress from their spring 2011 collection, Trina Turk hot pink shift dress tied and the fabulously edgy hair and make-up tied in perfectly with our overall vision.
