Colorful Amalfi Coast Inspired Wedding at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]From Beckon Events: When Anna approached us with her vision, we were utterly enchanted. She longed to transport the romantic vibes of the Amalfi Coast, with a modern twist, to the enchanting mountains of North Carolina for her magical weekend of celebrations.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]In Venice Beach on a summer night in 2019, a blonde girl tripped a tall handsome boy at a crowded bar. Little did they know that this clumsy, but cutely calculated encounter, would be the start of something neither of them could have ever imagined. After four cross country moves, a home renovation, dozens of flights and thousands of FaceTime calls, they are excited to take the leap into the next chapter of their journey together. They look forward to their wedding day, and being surrounded by their closest loved ones to celebrate a lifetime of happiness.[/field]

Dinner was served in house by the caterers at the club.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Vibrant floral arrangements cascaded from chandeliers, adorned the bandstand, and adorned each table.. This devotion to detail was evident in their monogram, a recurring motif throughout the events. It graced galvanized drink buckets, Adirondack chair throw pillows, and even cornhole boards. [field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake table was a true showstopper, surrounded by an opulent garden of florals and greenery, with a neon sign joyfully displaying the couple’s last name.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Cocktail hour on the driving range featured crisp white lounges, seated tables, and contrast-piping umbrellas, offering guests a relaxed atmosphere to savor delectable fare. Custom bar menus mirrored the wavy edge silhouette of the wedding invitation, showcasing Anna’s favorite signature drink—a lavender-infused elixir comprising citrus vodka, elderflower liqueur, and creme de violette.

The reception commenced in style with the couple popping a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, pouring a champagne tower that set the night’s celebratory tone. Traditional dances, including the couple’s first dance, father-daughter dance, and mother-son dance, were a heartfelt prelude to a special dance shared between Anna and her mother, a testament to their exceptional bond.

The reception details were nothing short of extraordinary. Crisp blue and white striped linens paid homage to the Bride’s Nantucket background. Place settings featured blush plates and whimsical wavy-edged coral embroidered napkins, complemented by custom diamond-shaped pale green menus. Vibrant floral arrangements cascaded from chandeliers, adorned the bandstand, and adorned each table.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The invitation suite was a tantalizing prelude to the magic awaiting guests. The main invitation, a contemporary two-tone letterpress masterpiece, hinted at the opulence to come. A blue details card discreetly conveyed logistical details, while a matching Welcome sign set the tone at the ceremony. The Green weekend itinerary card, with its playful wavy edges, artfully laid out the weekend’s events, maintaining an air of sophistication with event descriptions beneath elegant icons. The suite was elegantly sealed with an overlay featuring artwork that adorned the band backdrop and seating chart, bound together by a ribbon, ensuring a captivating unveiling.[/field]

Fantastic French Wedding Filled With Classic Touches And Sophisticated Charm

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette chosen by Jane and Julien for their wedding is a very delicate balance between the soft olive green typical of the Côte d’Azur region which recalls the magnificent shades of green of the olive trees, to which they added very bright, very colorful touch with a mix between peachy, fresh pink, a slight orange and cream tones. A very personal, elegant palette, chosen with taste, blending perfectly with the environment of the Castellaras castle.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]They wanted to organize a wedding that would re-introduce them both, she is the beautiful American woman and he is the elegant and courteous Frenchman. When we look closely at their wedding, the choices they made about the venue of the reception, the choice of colors, the choice of flowers, the decor we very quickly find Jane and Julien’s personalities. A very beautiful mix between strength and delicacy, a wedding in one of the most beautiful and noble castles on the French Riviera, the Castellaras castle exists since the 13th century, wrapped with so much taste and refinement in the choice of each detail ranging from the table centerpieces, to the wedding stationery, the cocktail venue and the breathtaking set-up of the dinner venue.[/field]

They chosen to have a mediterranean inspiration for their wedding menu who started with a gaspacho of tomatoes and ananas with gressins and condiements followed by a dos de loup with an italian risotto or a filet de boeuf en croûte with a gateau de pomme de terre. They proposed another main course who was vegetarian and that was very thoughtful of them to do that. They finished the dinner by a beautiful cheese plateau with an excellent wine selection.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

In line with their personalities and the general atmosphere of their wedding, they chose a very balanced and refined color palette, a beautiful selection pastel and colorful. A Western Style Wedding Weekend in the Colorado Mountains

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pastels across all hues of blue, pink, green, yellow, peach, lilac, coral, gold, silver
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We had a three-day, 110 person affair — kicked off with Western Style welcome drinks on Thursday, rehearsal dinner and mountain fireside hang on Friday, followed by wedding ceremony and rehearsal on Saturday. We (my husband, Thomas and I) got married in a tiny Colorado town, right outside Durango, called Pagosa Springs, where my parents retired from TX a few years ago and has become a really special mountain escape for us. Funny enough, we found a venue, Keyah Grande, tucked high up in the mountains but, surprisingly, built and styled like an old Italian villa, furnished with centuries old paintings, textiles, stone and even hand-painted wall paper imported from Europe. Definitely love at first sight for a girl like me who has been antiquing and thrifting with her mom since she was about 4 years old. That sealed the deal and aligned my vintage wedding vision— intimate, romantic and eclectic. Italian baroque meets English countryside. Because of my deep love for vintage and the quality I could get from items made in a different era, I knew I wanted to primarily use vintage fabrics, glassware and decor in every place I could. I spent the 8 months leading up to our wedding, thrifting all of the primary elements used in the decor — all of our cocktail glasses & barware, table linens, flower vases and vessels, candleholders and more. I’m lucky to have a core group of best friends who, between them, hand-drew and painted our wedding invitations, dinner menus and all event signage. Our food was modern Coloradan fare utilizing locally sourced meats, produce and bread, served family-style on mismatched vintage floral pattern serving platters. We had no wedding planner and the wedding was truly a labor of love between us, our families and our incredible best friends who made everything come together.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Thomas and I met in NYC in early 2017 as roommates after I just moved to the city from LA — we became bffs pretty quickly; I thought he was the most genuine, trustworthy, best guy friend I’d ever had (and, didn’t hurt that he was cute!). About 2 months into roommate life, we both realized we might be crushing on each other a little more than we realized and we started a little romantic fling, secretly dating for a few months and hiding it from our friends because we weren’t anticipating falling for each other for real, for real. Flash forward 5 years, 4 different homes and a cross-country move to Colorado at the beginning of 2021, Thomas proposed to me on a solo weekend getaway to Breckenridge at the top of a beautiful overlook in February 2022 — the best part was we had no reception up there so we had about 30 minutes of being the only two people in the world to know what just happened, like a little secret between us two. Which was fitting for our origin story, secret lover roommates who are now forever roomies and partners in life.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]My wedding dress was actually the first dress I tried on, Anne Barge — I loved it right away. But, it was my first time trying on dresses and I thought, “This isn’t supposed to happen right away, right?” So, I continued to try on like 25 other dresses, including going to another bridal dress shop to find “the one.” At the end of the dress excursion day, however, I knew that first dress was it, and headed back about 15 mins before shop closing time to lock it in. I knew I wanted a romantic, feminine, classically elegant look but also wanted to feel . I loved that I could make slight alterations (including removing the straps, adding boning, modifying the length of the slit) to the dress to make it feel as such and also very true to me. I also added the Anne Barge Florentine veil and bought additional lace used in the veil to customize lace gloves to complete my look. Donna Beth Creations created my custom gloves. Everything else I kept simple — vintage pearl earrings and my mom’s blue topaz and diamond engagement ring she gifted to me as my something blue. The dress was so special and comfortable, I didn’t want to take it off the entire night –and ended up not even putting on my second, shorter, post-rehearsal dress as a result![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids picked their own dresses based on their own personalities and personal style –guidance from me was romantic fabrics, florals, playful patterns and colors.
I surprised them on the wedding day by gifting vintage handbags and handkerchiefs for them to pair along with their chosen dresses.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Classic tux for the guys with the groom in white jacket. Groom paired a black velvet butterfly bow tie with his white tux jacket for a little drama.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Finding top notch caterers in a very small town for a prime summer wedding was no easy feat and luckily through word of mouth recommendations from the MOB, we found excellent, talented chefs who made the weekend truly memorable. The bride and groom wanted to provide top notch cuisine for their guests reminiscent of the local flavors and styles of the region in Colorado and Southwest. Rehearsal dinner featured pulled pork, smoked brisket & chicken and a baked potato bar made by famed local BBQ master from “Big Doug”; dessert at the post-rehearsal fireside hang included a s’mores bar and several bundt cake and pie varietals like lemon blueberry, coconut cream and fresh strawberry made by the bride’s mom. Wedding day cocktail hour featured light bites such as elk sausage “pigs in a blanket” and three signature cocktails: “His” – a Negroni, “Hers” a Double Dirty Martini and “Ours” a classic Manhattan, an ode to the city in which they met. Reception dinner menu was produced by local chef, Lindsey Czech, and featured family- style courses, like grilled hanger steak with onion finadene and herbed aioli, seared salmon with creamy tomatillo-poblano sauce and summer vegetable galettes, to wedding guests on vintage china platters and bowls curated by the bride. A special kid’s menu included mini hamburger sliders, mac & cheese, and buttered cheesy broccoli for the littlest guests. A special feature of the wedding both the bride and the groom’s brother-law-work in the wine industry — the bride works for DTC wine brand Naked Wines and curated the wines selected for the weekend’s festivities, while BIL, Dave Pauker, who owns Rye, NY wine shop, Wine at Five, provided the bubbly of which guests toasted to.
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The most emotional feature for me (bride) was seeing the wedding decor come together after months of hard work and countless (adored) hours spent finding all the things to use in the decor. All of those things came together with the right humans. I was so lucky to find the most incredible floral team, Adela Floral, who worked magic, incorporating all of the eclectic vintage vases into works of art that graced every corner of the day. They created beautiful floating floral installations and an unbelievable floral ceremony arch that they then moved to the reception area and transformed into a gorgeous entryway installation. All of our wedding event signage — from invitation to menus, place cards, seating chart, bar signage and wedding favors were hand-made from a few very close, talented friends and all of which came together in the most perfectly un-perfect way. It felt so personal and meaningful for us to see everything brought to life, the compilation of so many people who we love and who love us, and I could not have dreamed of anything more.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]In keeping with romantic, vintage-inspired decor, the bride and groom decided on an elegant three-tier wedding cake of white chiffon with chambord syrup, white chocolate mousse and raspberries that was adorned at each tier with fresh flowers from a local chef, Kellie Stevens. As a sweet focal point, the wedding cake was on display to guests via open double French windows in a special “dessert” parlor room inside the venue which was adorned in hand-painted floral silk wallpaper brought over from France in the early 1900s. This cake cutting ceremony was viewable to guests through the double French windows which made sweet vignettes for the moment. After cutting the cake, the cake was cut and served out on an eclectic mix of vintage floral patterned cake plates collected by the bride.

The bride’s southern roots influenced the need for a groom’s cake, which was a simple one-tier carrot cake (his favorite flavor) in which she surprised him with the cake cutting.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The groom’s very close family friend and next door neighbor throughout life, became ordained and officiated the couple’s ceremony, which included having the couple submit surprise vows to each other they would hear for the first time in front of all their friends and family. In a nod to the vintage theme, the groom curated the wedding weekend playlists with their DJ based on regular weeknight songs in rotation at the couple’s home –classic rock, folk, soul + blues, and R&B including Van Morrison, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Sade and more. Couple’s entrance song was ” Right Down the Line” by Gerry Rafferty and their first dance was “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Both the bride and groom come from large families and incorporating the wedding weekend to be inclusive of children was incredibly important to them both so as kids and moms and dads could all have a great time. The bride and groom’s nieces and nephews all played a role in the bridal party and the MOH’s daughter was a baby bridesmaid. Making sure kids had something to keep them busy was super important too throughout the weekend. Outside of adult and kid yard games which were perfect for all ages, small details at dinner like kids activity books and crayons on tables, high chairs/booster seats and small stacking toys at infant seats and, most importantly, a kid-friendly menu, were top on the list in helping our littlest guests have a happy time too.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Colorado temperatures, even in summer months, dip in the evening between 10 – 20 degrees. Though we let guests know to bring a jacket or layers, we made sure we had additional warmth on hand with Turkish blankets as party favors placed at each guests’ seat.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Vintage bells collected by the bride were featured on all guest tables and made for a fun game throughout the evening of having the bride and groom kiss whenever they were rang.

Sophisticated Black Tie Wedding at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Whites, Ivories, lots of green foliage with pops of blush and sahara rose, gold undertones[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Christina & Martin dreamed of a castle wedding and hosted an elegant & classic black tie affair in the lush and regal surroundings of Luttrellstown Castle, Dublin. The day exuded opulence and grandeur from start to finish, beginning in the city centre of Dublin with their ceremony partly conducted by the groom’s cousin. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]It was the summer of 2022 and Christina and Martin were headed to France, after a long stretch of limited international travel from New York. They were flying into Paris first, landing on a Friday morning, and then heading to Bordeaux by train the next day, on Saturday afternoon. Before heading to Bordeaux though, Martin had told Christina the plan was to meet a friend nearby for a classic Parisian brunch with views of the Eiffel Tower. (Little did Christina know, they were not really going to meet a friend or go to brunch!) The two hopped into a cab from their hotel that Saturday morning, and Martin instructed the driver to head to a cute restaurant nearby where they would allegedly be having brunch. Upon exiting the cab though, Martin noted the restaurant was not yet open, but the friend they were meeting had directed them to another spot along the Seine River for a quick brunch cocktail and views to pass the time. Christina and Martin began walking on the promenade along the river, but soon, Christina started to complain about the walk in her wedge heels on the cobblestone. This added more pressure to the situation for Martin, as he was simultaneously, secretly texting with the photographer trying to pin down her exact location. Eventually, the two find flat pavement on the promenade and walk along, where there were few people and only gorgeous, uninterrupted views of the Eiffel Tower. Christina spotted a photographer at the edge of the river taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower and thought to herself, “wow, what a great hobby!” All of a sudden, Martin then suggested asking the photographer to take their photo, to which Christina agreed. Before Christina knew it, Martin was down on one knee, asking her to marry him. Christina was in such disbelief, and kept repeating “Oh my gosh!” to which Martin had to respond by nudging her to put on the ring (and say the word “yes”). It was a magical trip from that point on, to say the least.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Church Ceremony in St. Stephen’s Green: Christina and Martin were traditional in that they were keen on having a Catholic wedding mass, as opposed to having the ceremony at the beautiful Luttrellstown Castle. So, the couple had their ceremony at Newman University Church, right on St. Stephen’s Green, which was not only a gorgeous setting but also centrally located for their guests, most of whom were staying on the Green. The ceremony was filled with meaningful moments, including the lighting of a candle for Christina’s late father, as well as having Martin’s cousin, a priest who married his parents 40 years prior, co-host the ceremony.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Oyster Bar: Christina and Martin’s love of oysters were a key inspiration throughout the wedding weekend. For the reception, Christina and Martin asked Luttrellstown to include a lavish Oyster Bar as part of the Cocktail Hour menu. It was the first time the Luttrellstown team had received a request for this, and they absolutely perfected it. Not only was it beautifully designed throughout the library, but the oysters themselves were some of the largest, most delicious oysters the guests ever had![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Christina and Martin enjoyed designing and picking out their wedding
wear accessories, including earrings, rings, and bracelet for her, and cufflinks and stud set for him. Christina’s custom earrings even matched the design on her shoes, while Martin and his groomsmen suavely sported green clover stud sets in true Irish fashion![/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Our beloved bride shares: ‘A January weekend in one of our favourite getaway cities – Milan. The story unfolds with an exquisite first evening performance of Romeo and Juliet at la Scala. As both well acquainted with the city from the time we both lived there (though at different times – in a parallel universe), we spent most of the following day walking through with picturesque streets of Brera, enjoying food in familiar spots and marking off our list one activity we both had managed to miss during our time in Milan. The duomo terrace. We went there during sunset and were mesmerised by the colourful symphony, in perfect harmony with the architecture marvel around us. To top the weekend, a romantic dinner at “Langosteria”. Back to our hotel, my now husband was insisting on a drink by the patio – during a very cold January evening – and his sweet persuasion had us sooner rather than later walking down the gardens of Bulgari Hotel. I soon came to realise the surprise awaiting, a table for two filled with opulent flowers, embellished by candles and champagne under a clear starry sky. As we sat down and my darling started speaking, I could not help my heart skipping a beat. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment for us to declare our love for one another and embark on this trip together. ‘[/field]

I was fortunate to find my special one in Milan, at “Nicole Milano” surrounded by my mother and my closest friends. The versatility achieved in one dress, a strapless French chiffon dress ideal for the almost-summery Greek party reception transforming into a classic outfit accompanied by a lace bolero for our ceremony was the winning combination. ‘[/field]

A proud Scotsman, wearing his kilt with honour as it embodies his enduring heritage and tradition. Especially created and tailored by Kinloch Anderson for the occasion, featuring the tartan and colours of the groom’s clan. A proper kilt is usually accompanied by a sporran, a small bag worn around the waist and over the kilt. It’s the Gaelic word for purse; A kilt pin holds the two pieces together at the front; and the Sgian dubh (skee-an doo) is a small dagger that sits in the sock.[/field]

‘Luckenbooth – the heart-shaped ornament proudly worn by the groom.

The Luckenbooth Brooch is an enduring Scottish symbol of love, friendship and good luck, strongly associated with Edinburgh. Traditionally made of silver and sometimes set with a Cairngorm or gemstones, the Luckenbooth design is typically heart-shaped, or two hearts intertwined, surmounted by a crown. The first Luckenbooth brooches date from the late seventh century. This traditional gift was given by a man to his sweetheart on their betrothal – on our modern day version, this was one of the bride’s surprises to her beloved for their special moment.'[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From George Liopetas:

My favorite detail from Julia and David’s wedding was their kind souls. I was more than honored to meet them in person for the first time and shoot the pre wedding session of these two sweethearts back in New York, were I spent my last winter while my time there for New York Fashion Week. I always admired the good people, especially when ‘good’ is perfectionated with kindness, smiling and warm heart. We had some amazing portraits beginning from the Bethesda fountain. After a few really really cold minutes, we decided to have a walk at Central Park (by the way, Central Park is so amazing during the winter days too) ending our walk at The Met, where we had some fancy portraits, too. Finally, we visited Morgan Library, where we ended having some classy yet ‘so in fashion’ portraits, as the library portrait session is so in fashion right now in NYC.

Destination Wedding in Chicago’s Hyde Park

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Courtney and Brett’s wedding colors were a mix of bold black & white, multi-hued greens, with touches of subtle gold accents woven throughout.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

When Courtney and Brett first shared their overall design-aesthetic dream with us, their key words were “light & airy”. Coupled with their shared love for the city of Chicago, knowing it’s not ALWAYS the lightest or airiest (unlike Courtney’s native California), they adored the light that streamed in through the floor to ceiling window’s of Penthouse Hyde Park‘s panoramic windows. The venue’s one of a kind, uniquely patterned black and white tiled dance-floor was the grounding element to their classic, clean, and garden-inspired designs!

Courtney fell in love with a Rita Vinieris gown featuring a form-fitting plunge neck bodice that transitioned at the waist into hundreds of layers of tulle. It was a dream ballgown wedding dress but with a modern take! While dress shopping, she fell in love with two dresses and decided she’d buy the second for the reception, knowing all the layers of tulle were going to be quite heavy, and she’d be ready to shed some weight by dinner time! Her second dress, which she changed into at the end of cocktail hour, and surprised Brett with a second “first look” was a Valentini Spose curve-hugging silhouette covered in stunning lace floral applique. Attached to the waist was a gauzy half-skirt that she wore until just before their first dance.

Paramount Events provided a well-rounded and delicious menu, beginning with passed hors d’oeuvres throughout cocktail hour. Guests nibbled on smoked salmon, black truffle risotto bites, elevated mini grilled cheese, and prosciutto-wrapped melon, complete with a balsamic glaze pipette to infuse into each bite. With produce procured straight from their own garden and greenhouse, Paramount focused on artisanal ingredients and straightforward flavors that played into the couple’s laid-back and “light & airy” vibe! Wood-grilled chicken breast, hanger steak, and herb ricotta gnocchi were the featured entrees that guests enjoyed. Specialty drinks dedicated to Courtney and Brett’s beloved pups, were enjoyed throughout the evening: Roxie on the Rocks, which was a gin-yuzu cocktail, and Milo’s Mai-Tai (Brett’s favorite drink).

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Courtney and Brett’s florals were timeless yet designed in a re-imagined & modern way. Taking their love for all things black, white, and green – we honed in on rose varietals, snapdragon, hydrangea, lisianthus, and, of course, our hero flower – anemone’s, for their striking black center and delicate white outer petals. Courtney adored all types of Eucalyptus, so we brought in many varieties to their greenery, as well as variegated pittosporum, salal (lemon leaf), and Italian ruscus. We even tucked a sprig of fresh eucalyptus into each guest’s napkin for a soft accent against their black napkin knots. Their ceremony took place on Penthouse Hyde Park‘s sprawling rooftop, which features sweeping views of the Chicago Skyline and Lake Michigan. Flanked by a deconstructed floral arch bursting with lush florals and greenery, Courtney and Brett exchanged vows surrounded by their 50 nearest and dearest friends and family members for the most special and intimate ceremony. Courtney and Brett’s intimate guest count required us to be strategic of their floorplan, utilizing the ballroom space (just adjacent to their rooftop ceremony) intentionally while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. With their sweetheart table (the backdrop of which was accented with their stunning floral arch we moved after their Ceremony), centered in the ballroom, we utilized four long rectangular tables to create a perimeter of the dance floor in the shape of a diamond, with round tables in each of the room’s four corners. Each rectangular table had a design featuring a modern matte black stand running horizontally across the length of the table with garden-inspired blooms woven throughout for a “growing upward” design. The round tables featured tall centerpieces designed on the same black matte stands (placed vertically on these tables), which were topped with cascading blooms and greenery. All tables featured a variety of candles in either modern glass or matte black vessels for the most romantic, candle-lit atmosphere.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Huge Donut Lovers Courtney and Brett ventured out to find the BEST donut in the City of Chicago during their many planning trips throughout the year leading up to the big day. The winner was DoRite Donuts and they honored the donut shop with a full wall of their donuts for guests to enjoy, along with a giant Donut ring that served as their wedding cake, complete with rainbow sprinkles and a cake topper!

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Courtney and Brett’s wedding was 100% destination. With no ties to Chicago, aside from falling in love with it the first time they traveled to the City for fun, they decided it was a perfect MidWest destination for their guests traveling in from all sides of the U.S. They truly created a weekend get-away and showed their guests why they fell in love with this City in the first place.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Because all guests were coming in from out of town, there was a large emphasis on Courtney and Brett’s welcome boxes handed out to guests at hotels once they arrived in Chicago for the weekend. Mapping out all of the different places their love story had taken them (from where they first met in Kentucky – Brett was Courtney’s personal trainer at a kick-boxing gym), to where they called home for much of their relationship (Georgia), to where they both are originally from (California and Indiana) – they included a keepsake item representing all of the states that they’ve called home. And, of course, included Chicago’s famous Garret’s Popcorn as a nod to the City they’d be getting married in!

A Stunning Lowcountry Wedding With Bright Florals and Timeless Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pink, yellow, blue, green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Joined by their closest friends and family, the couple wanted to inspire their guests with vibrant colors from the coast within the sunny historic district of the Jekyll Island Club. Adison has an affinity for bright colors mixed with timeless details so the design of the reception and ceremony were meant to simply enhance the beauty of the chapel and Cherokee Cottage.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Jordan and I were coming up on our fifth anniversary and had just moved to our third state together. I knew we would get married one day but I didn’t think it would be anytime soon so to say I was surprised, is an understatement.

It was labor day weekend (2022) and we were going to check out St. Simon’s Island for the day, with our golden retriever, Bandit. As we’re walking down the beach, Jordan notices something in the sand and starts walking over towards it. He has Bandit with him and I keep telling him to be careful and not to “mess up whatever someone has planned.” That’s when he got down on one knee, in the middle of a heart made from long stemmed roses, with our dog and I pulled out my phone to take a picture saying “okay this IS cute but everyone is going to think you proposed.” Then, I saw the ring through my phone camera and he said “I hope someone does.” He asked me to marry him and I said yes, obviously.

Then Jordan’s brother and his wife, aka my best friend, popped out with champagne and flowers and told me they were taking photos the entire time. They live about 5 hours away, and Jordan and I met at their wedding, so it was a really special surprise to have them there. The four of us stayed on the island that weekend and celebrated. It was perfect![/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]After the ceremony, we wanted our guests to have a little fun while we took pictures so we set up a cocktail hour with hor d’oeuvres on the lawn. We had a full, open bar and served lamb lollipops, raspberry and basil crostinis and bacon wrapped scallops.

We then served a three course, plated dinner that included a Caeser salad appetizer and guest’s choice of Ashley Farms Chicken Breast served with local vegetables and risotto, Beef tenderloin with Yukon whipped mashed potatoes and local vegetables or Award Winning Shrimp and Grits with Andouille Sausage to nod at my Southern roots.
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]I wanted bright, happy florals and my florist absolutely understood my vision from the beginning. She even surprised me with big beautiful peonies after learning it’s my favorite flower, that I actually have a tattoo of. Because of the natural beauty of the resort, I didn’t have much décor other than the florals. I chose clear acrylic with white lettering for table numbers and other signs so that they would blend in and let the flowers shine. I ordered blue chargers for the place settings last minute and they really popped and made the tables look more cohesive.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We ordered our wedding cake from a local baker in Jesus who makes the most delicious desserts. The brides cake was lemon-blueberry pound cake with cream cheese frosting and the groom’s cake was yellow cake with chocolate icing. We each had two round tiers, decorated with simple stripes all the way around. The brides cake had a special surprise on the side – a small figurine of our golden retriever, Bandit, stealing a bite of cake. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our acoustic guitar artist played Little Martha by (the groom’s favorite band) the Allman Brothers as I walked down the aisle and he played Blue Sky during the recessional.

We were married by our very close friend who has been a second mom to us over the last five years. She texted both of us ahead of timing asking why we loved each other and then incorporated our answers during the ceremony. We were surprised to learn our answers were incredibly similar with each of us saying the other is “goofy” and referencing how “great of a dog mom/dad to Bandit” the other is. She closed out the ceremony with the Apache Prayer. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]As a thank you gift, we gave each guest a glass fishing bobber. It serves as a special reminder because of their history in Jekyll Island:

(From https://www.jekyllisland.com/signature-events/island-treasures/)
In the early 1900s, east coast fishermen used hollow glass balls, or floats, on their nets as markers. Occasionally, the floats would break loose and wash ashore for lucky beachcombers to find and keep. Collecting these rare, highly sought-after glass floats became a hobby in the 1950s.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]I took photos with the bible my grandmother carried down the aisle to marry my grandfather in 1946. This heirloom was a special detail that I had to make sure wasn’t forgotten when photos were taken.[/field]

Pops Of Color To Contrast Flood Mansion’s Black Architectural Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Green, White, Coral, Orange. From the Couple: The color palette was based purely on florals that we liked and that would be in season. This is not a white wedding, as it was full of colors found in nature. The palette consisted primarily of pink hues, peach, apricot, salmon, pops of fuchsia with a myriad of textural greenery with spots of stark black to highlight Flood Mansions black architectural features. The furniture and linens were carefully selected to highlight the colors of the florals. A special homage to Itzel’s Mexican heritage was weaved throughout with careful touches. Specially curated elements allowed guests to enjoy a truly personal experience.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Itzel and Stuart hosted a truly distinctive and memorable wedding at Flood Mansion. They chose the venue for its architectural charm and sweeping San Francisco views, setting the stage for their departure from tradition. Custom design elements, like the “SI” crest and Toile pattern, added an intimate touch, and they meticulously coordinated their fashion choices, while sentimental moments enriched their wedding story. Ultimately, their wedding was a unique blend of personal narratives, cultural influences, and artistic design, serving as a testament to their love story and the merging of their diverse life experiences. From the Couple: We chose to incorporate the Lily of the Valley as a unifying element throughout our wedding, symbolizing good luck and prosperity. We personally selected this delicate flower to grace our wedding invitations, appear in our custom “SI” crest, and adorn my bouquet as I walked down the aisle. Stuart wore a brooch featuring the Lily, and it even found its place on the embroidered pillow. Throughout our floral arrangements, we thoughtfully scattered the Lily of the Valley, adding a touch of charm and symbolism. Even the fragrance I wore, Dior Lucky, featured notes of Lily-of-the-Valley, creating a sensory connection. Dior Lucky soap in the bathroom echoed our theme, infusing Lily-of-the-Valley notes throughout. We also aimed to celebrate my Mexican heritage in a way that resonated with all our wedding guests. Mariachi made a grand entrance, bringing tradition and a joyful celebration. Our signature cocktails were infused with Mexican flavors, incorporating Mezcal, Tequila, and hellfire bitters. Even our Espresso Martini contained cinnamon as a nod to Cafe de Olla, a traditional Mexican coffee drink. Perla Valtierra, a Mexican designer, contributed exquisite pottery with stunning floral arrangements. We embraced meaningful Mexican wedding traditions, such as Stuart placing my 100-year-old Grandma’s wedding ring on my finger alongside our wedding bands. The Wedding Lasso, symbolizing unity, was placed around us, and the Arras Matrimoniales, coins representing prosperity and the promise to protect each other’s wealth, were the same ones used in my grandmother’s ceremony. We ensured that our wedding was accommodating to both English and Spanish speakers. The bilingual priest delivered a bilingual mass, the cantor sang in both English and Spanish, and our bilingual and Mexican DJ accommodated song requests, creating a beautiful fusion of musical traditions. We also aimed to celebrate Itzel’s Mexican heritage in a way that resonated with all our wedding guests. Mariachi made a grand entrance, bringing tradition and a joyful celebration.

The couple first met at a natural wine bar in the heart of New York City, where they bonded over their shared interest in orange wine. Their connection at this wine bar inspired them to serve natural wine from Swick Wines at their wedding, including a pet nat, a chilled red, and an orange wine. Their engagement took place at the same wine bar where they had first crossed paths, adding a special layer of significance to the location as they began their journey towards marriage. Their adventures also took them to Mexico before their wedding, where Itzel’s 100-year-old grandmother passed down to her the arras (the ceremonial wedding coins) and her wedding band. During this trip, Stu discovered and fell in love with Cafe de Olla, inspiring them to put a unique twist on the classic espresso martini for their wedding. And, although they currently call New York City home, they have dreams of eventually relocating to the picturesque San Francisco Bay Area, where Itzel grew up. This dream led them to choose the Flood Mansion as the venue for their wedding, not only because of its elegance but also to emphasize the significance of San Francisco in their lives, a place where their future together is destined to unfold.

The bride chose an archival Vivienne Westwood dress made from a discontinued fabric called “The Absence of Rose.” Itzel was drawn to this fabric because of its subtle floral print, which beautifully tied into the floral theme of the wedding, adding an elegant and old-world touch to her attire. The sleeves’ pattern couldn’t be found in London, so a sample was located in LA and shipped to NYC, where a skilled tailor, the same one who tailored Kim Kardashian’s Marilyn Monroe dress, performed the alterations. To complete the tradition of “Something Old, Something Borrowed, Something New, Something Blue,” Itzel wore her grandma’s wedding ring as something old, her mom’s pearls as something borrowed, her sister gifted her a new long strand of pearls, and she changed into blue Manolo Blahnik shoes as something blue. The veil, from Monvieve and handmade in Italy, was an important element but not overpowering. It was cathedral-length and had a traditional appeal without being old or lacey. It added drama to the look, complementing the sleeves on the dress. As for accessories, the couple incorporated pearls throughout. Stuart gifted Tiffany Bracelets to both mothers and Itzel before the wedding. Stuart’s cufflinks and studs featured pearls, and his Lily of the Valley brooch included pearl detailing. Their first dance was to Prince’s “Diamonds & Pearls.” Additional accessories included an ostrich feather Lapointe veil for the cake cutting and dancing, handmade gloves from Italy (the same brand as the veil), and a pearled and brassed crown worn during dinner to avoid interfering with the meal. The rotating accessories added unique touches to their wedding attire and made for excellent photo opportunities.

For the groom, a made-to-measure Tom Ford tuxedo was the choice. It conveyed a strong presence with its “X” silhouette and featured a traditional black design. [field title=”Food & Drink”]The couple celebrated Itzel’s Mexican heritage with Mexican-infused cocktails. Guests enjoyed a stunning assortment of shellfish on a beautiful raw bar presentation during cocktail hour. A four course dinner was served, consisting of a classic wedge salad, spinach ricotta raviolo, filet mignon, and a colorful lemon berry tartlet served with an espresso martini closed out the feast. From the couple: Cocktails hold a special place in our hearts, serving as a significant part of our New York lifestyle and early dating days. When COVID-19 forced New York’s dining scene to shut down, we took matters into our own hands and sourced our own liquors to recreate the beloved cocktails we missed. One of Itzel’s favorite mixologists from her time in California, Darwin Pornel, made the move to NYC and swiftly became one of our cherished bartenders. We teamed up with Darwin to craft three distinctive signature drinks, along with a bonus espresso martini, all of which were a reflection of us, our backgrounds, and felt deeply personal. In crafting these cocktails, we aimed to steer clear of the typical spritzes or Old Fashioneds and instead embraced subtle infusions of our Mexican heritage, using Tequila and Mezcal. We firmly believed that a signature cocktail should be a one-of-a-kind and custom creation, something you couldn’t simply order at any bar. While we ensured the bar was well-stocked to handle any classic cocktail requests from our guests, our primary focus was on crafting true signature drinks that mirrored our unique tastes. Here’s a glimpse of the custom cocktails we designed: The Father – A playful twist on a Mezcal negroni, highlighting the Mexican influence with Mezcal and featuring a “C” monogram single ice cube. The Son – A refreshing cucumber highball, where Tequila takes center stage and is stirred with an “SI” crest stirring stick. The Holy Spirit – A classic ‘up’ drink with a twist, featuring the Mexican influence of Hellfire bitters and a dramatic bubble filled with citrus smoke, adding a touch of flair that Itzel absolutely adored. Bonus: Cafe de Olla Espresso Martini – A delightful nod to Mexican Cafe de Olla, this espresso martini incorporated cinnamon for that authentic Mexican flavor. It was served table side after dinner, rounding off our cocktail experience with a deliciously caffeinated twist. These custom cocktails were a reflection of our unique taste and Mexican heritage, making them a memorable part of our celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

They beautifully incorporated the Lily of the Valley motif throughout, from invitations to bouquets. Stuart and Itzel utilized a vibrant, nature-inspired color palette. Amy Burke Designs provided the enchanting florals that created a captivating atmosphere.Florals played a central role in crafting an enchanting and captivating experience for our guests, and our collaboration with Amy Burke Designs brought this vision to life. They served as the foundation for our entire color palette and inspired the design elements throughout the day. When it came to table arrangements, we aimed to create a sense of structure, embrace asymmetry, and maintain a light and balanced feel to keep the attention at the ground level. In addition to the main table centerpieces, we incorporated small yet impactful satellite arrangements featuring exotic stems and pops of color, all carefully held in place by Flower Frogs, creating unique shapes. We also wanted to make the most of the venue’s high ceilings by adding elements to draw the eye upward. Down the center of the tables, we introduced dramatic interest through various objects and vessels: Vintage-looking candlesticks of varying heights Satellite arrangements featuring unique stems Tall vases filled with greenery and foliage, creating a lush canopy a whimsical and maximalist touch, while maintaining an overall sense of elegance and formality Custom design work played a significant role in personalizing our wedding. We created two distinct crests to carry through our event and beyond: Couples’ Initials Crest, “SI”: This crest, featuring our initials, Stuart and Itzel, cleverly played on the word “¡Si!” (Spanish for “Yes”). It served as a symbol of our commitment and was a unique touch to our celebration. Married Crest, “C”: We designed a solid and strong “C” crest that could be cherished throughout our lives. This custom creation was entirely unique and not found in the market. Additionally, Itzel, with her background in design and a passion for textiles, embarked on creating custom pieces for our wedding and future home. These pieces, such as pillows, napkins, coasters, and more, would serve as lasting reminders of our special day. Here’s a list of the custom items we crafted: Pillows: Custom pillows using the Toile pattern and embroidered with the Married “C” Crest. Napkins: Table linens beautifully embroidered with the Married “C” Crest. Coasters: Cocktail coasters featuring our Married “C” Crest, paying subtle homage to our love for New York’s cocktail scene. SI Crest Pillow: Utilizing our Custom “SI” crest for a decorative pillow. Hand-Painted Needlepoint Canvas: A commissioned canvas that Itzel herself needlepointed. Custom Ring Pillow: We used archival Vivienne Westwood fabric for this special piece. Custom Toile: A unique Toile pattern was commissioned and incorporated into various elements of the wedding. It offered a modern twist on old-world charm, featuring elements from our life journey, such as our pets, a bottle of wine, and more. The Toile was expertly designed by artist Lauren Hughes, known for her custom prints and Toile designs. Tablescape and rentals were thoughtfully selected to create a feeling of being found and lived in. Rather than sourcing all rentals from a single company, we chose five, each highlighting its strengths individually: Linens: Two different vendors provided linens in subdued colors and patterns, enhancing the floral colors and avoiding the typical “white wedding” look. Furniture: Antique couches and chairs in the right color palette were chosen, along with two dramatic long tables to achieve both drama and equality among guests. Accessories like cloches, vintage books, lanterns, candles, candelabras, and pillows were carefully placed to enhance the space’s cozy living room feel. Bar: Our statement piece, “The Wellington” antique bar, was adorned with florals and featured custom bar-backing showcasing the Toile pattern, completing the elegant and personalized ambiance.

A Fusion of Indian and Vietnamese Cultures in Texas’ Hill Country

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Color is an important aspect of both Indian and Vietnamese cultures, so we thought very carefully about our color palette and wanted to ensure that our wedding weekend was bright and vibrant (we even asked our guests to dress colorfully and refrain from wearing black). The color red is auspicious in both of our cultures, so it played a central role throughout our wedding weekend – from our save-the-dates and invitations to the bride and groom’s wedding outfits. For our two main events, the sangeet and the wedding ceremony/reception, we leaned heavily on color to create two distinct vibes.

For the sangeet, we leaned into a more dramatic and jewel tone color palette which was reflected in all aspects of the design from the furniture rentals to the dance floor to the florals to our outfits. For our wedding ceremony/reception, we leaned into a moody fall citrus color palette of reds, oranges, yellows, pinks and greens, which was especially evident in the floral design of our mandap, the centerpiece of our wedding ceremony.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Sangeet Design: At the sangeet, we wanted our guests to feel like they had been transported into an all-night dance party where the music never stopped. The Sangeet had a color palette of purples, blues, golds, and pinks. The space was designed around a custom blue acrylic dance floor with a gold mandala pattern. The space was filled with coordinated lounge furniture in blue velvet accented with gold tables and gold carved arches. A ceiling installation of marigolds, carnations and miror umbrellas added to the dance party vibe. We wanted our wedding weekend to stand out from any previous Indian fusion wedding our guests had attended and also for it to feel true to who we are as a couple. For our wedding ceremony and reception, we wanted to create a day that honored important aspects of our Indian and Vietnamese cultures, the location in Texas Hill Country, and the fall season. We did this in small ways throughout the day including serving a family-style dinner inspired by all three cuisines at our reception and ensuring that all our guests could experience the magic of a Hill Country sunset through the magnificent windows at the Arlo during dinner. Our wedding planner Kate from Wild Sky Events was the true glue that held everything together and was the reason our vision came to life – we couldn’t have made any of this happen without her. From Kate at WSE: To design Trishla and VP’s vision the overall wedding design focused on a muted citrus fall color palette with pops of orange, red, pink, and neutrals. The venue is a neutral space and having a bright and modern color palette makes the design pop. Textures was the next main focus and we incorporated beautiful pattered neutral linens and textured china for the place setting. To complete the look we worked with Jolie and Co to create a custom signature stamp pattern in red and pink that was used on the menus, bar decor and seating chart. During the design process we were reviewed every detail to ensure it added to the design and didn’t detract from the overall space.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We got engaged in October 2020 during a trip to Yosemite National Park with two of our friends. Although I chose all the hikes we did on the trip, VP kept the ring stashed in his backpack, waiting for the right place in the park to propose. When our group reached May Lake after hiking for a few hours, VP decided it was the perfect view for his proposal and sat down next to me to ask if I wanted to get married. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Since we were planning a lot of the wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was difficult to go to India to do any wedding outfit shopping. Instead, I worked with Divya Agarwal of Studio D Dallas to source all of my outfits. When she first showed me the red lengha that I wore for my wedding ceremony, I knew I wouldn’t be able to find anything that matched it even in India. The embroidery was exquisite and the animal motifs at the bottom of the skirt were completely unique. We also sourced an amazing coordinating red sherwani for the VP’s wedding outfit from Ishan Sanghvi at Rivesse that was tailored to fit VP perfectly. Although I loved my classic red wedding lengha, nothing could beat how I felt in my silver, shimmery reception lengha, another outfit that I immediately fell in love with the first time Divya showed it to me. Silver is one of my favorite colors so that outfit combined with an amazing old-school Hollywood glamour hairstyle from Miranda at LoLa Beauty made me feel on top of the world.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]For the food, we wanted a vegetarian menu that took inspirations from Indian, Vietnamese, and Southern cuisines. We shared Indian and Vietnamese recipes that we liked with the Contigo team, along with a list of ingredients that we loved (for example, mushrooms and okra). They took that input and created an amazing ensemble of creative dishes that celebrated our heritage in a subtle and accessible way. For the beverages selection, we wanted to highlight wines from Sonoma, a place of fond memories for us, and also celebrate local breweries and distilleries in Texas. Kate and the team at Specs did an amazing job at helping us curate the drinks menu the way we envisioned.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The overall wedding design focused on creating an muted citrus color palette filled with texture inspired by the fall season.

Jill from Layered Vintage creates pure magic with flowers. From our first meeting with her we knew she would be able to create floral arrangements that would make a lasting impression on our guests. Whether it was creating beautiful marigold arrangements hanging from ceilings and chandeliers, constructing the floral-forward mandap that we got married under, or creating beautiful bouquets for the tables and our wedding party, Jill did a great job sourcing so many gorgeous flowers that perfectly matched our color scheme for all of our events and brought our vision for the weekend to life. Our wedding planner Kate from Wild Sky Events also sourced some beautiful Vietnamese lanterns to hang over our reception dance floor.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We had the most delicious chai-flavored wedding cake from Danae at Feathers and Frosting. We chose the chai flavor as a nod to my Indian heritage and one of my favorite drinks and as a subtle ode to the fall season. Danae and her team knocked it out of the park, and we had so many guests come up to tell us that it was the best wedding cake they had ever eaten. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The day before the wedding, we did a special ceremony called a chura ceremony where a set of red and white bangles traditionally worn by a bride on her wedding day and for a period of time after her wedding are presented to the bride by her maternal uncle. I’m wearing my churas throughout all of my wedding weekend events. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As a nod to both cultures of the bride and groom the installation above the dance floor incorporated traditional Indian wedding flowers of marigolds and carnations along with specially sourced Vietnamese lanterns. [/field]

A Modern-Luxe Wedding in the Northern California Countryside

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, ivory, peach and black. The vision was a modern garden wedding. The soft blush, ivory and peach tones anchored the garden wedding, while pops of black brought it modern![/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Kate and Dan’s modern-garden couture wedding design was absolutely incredible. The design included black textiles, romantic florals, fashion-forward attire and so many intentional details to make your heart beam. Some of these details included having Kate’s grandma wear blue, to be her something blue. The sweetest first look with Kate’s dad before the wedding. Signature scents from Louis Voution. Custom Mr. & Mrs. Converse to dance the night away with friends and their favorite fast food for late night snack–In-n-Out. There wasn’t a single detail that wasn’t perfectly curated to represent Kate and Dan everywhere you looked. The entire wedding felt intentional, modern, and over-the-top stunning.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Kate and Dan’s love story started with two teenagers who called each other best friends. It took years of being best friends before Dan asked Kate out and many years later for them to finally tie the knot. Every second of the wait was worth it as Kate professed in her heartfelt vows to Dan on her wedding day.

A Modern Romantic Summer Affair In Texas

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Lexi and Josh chose whites, creams, peaches, and champagne throughout their floral design, invitations, and bridesmaid dresses. Some greenery filled the venue as well, especially hanging from the eye-catching chandeliers at The Arlo.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Lexi and Josh’s summertime wedding in the hill country was filled with love, laughter, darling details, and so much dancing. The two met working a summer job as college students, so it was only fitting that they wed in the summertime, choosing a date that was exactly one year to the day since their beautiful, intimate engagement. The bride opted for an elegant satin gown with a full skirt and a pearl studded veil, drawing all eyes to her all night – with a little extra help from Lola Beauty. The groom chose a black tuxedo, matching Lexi’s romantic, classic style. Whites, pinks, and champagne (and not just the champagne tower!) were a constant throughout, aside from the colorful cocktails shaken up by Too Shay Spirits. The Arlo posed as the ultimate setting for a bright and airy wedding, with it’s large windows letting in the natural light that only emphasized the beautiful design planned out by the Ashley Nicole Affair team. From a custom invitation suite designed by their dear friend who owns Green Girl Design Co., to an incredible ceremony backdrop put together by Forsythia Florals, to a simple sweet cake baked by Feathers & Frosting, this local team of vendors creative a cohesive look that took “classic” to a whole new level . The Texas heat was no match for the heat of the party, with Blake from Premier Entertainment bringing the house down – keeping the dance floor full until the sparkler exit. As Lexi + Josh look back on this dream day, they can only keep saying how much they loved their vendor team and had so much fun working with each and every one of them.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Josh turned to Lexi’s closest friends and family early in 2022 to plan the perfect, intimate proposal for his dream girl. Lexi’s best friend (and stationery designer) Liz got in contact with the lovely ladies of Camino Real Ranch since she loves them and their venue. They connected with Josh to rent the space for the proposal. Lexi’s sister (and maid of honor) Monica took the reins and decorated the greenhouse in light bright florals and tons of candles. When Lexi arrived, Josh had set up outfit options for her to change into, and a laptop with a video of all of her favorite people telling her why they love her, them as a couple, and how excited they are for her. Her best friends popped out to watch the video with her, and then send her on her way to Josh. The walk to the greenhouse seems so long, but she made it inside and saw Josh standing at the end smiling from ear to ear. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him with the most gorgeous ring that they picked out together. She said yes (of course!) and the friends and family hiding nearby came in for hugs and to bring the couple champagne. Then, there was an extra surprise back home with an engagement party!

Lexi didn’t go with her initial vision for her gown, which happens more often than not. After trying on dresses at three different shops, she found “the one” at a local bridal shop in the town over. She went more classic and satin, feeling like an actual princess in a fuller skirt and a more structured bodice. She paired the floor length gown with her “something blue” – some blingy strappy heels from Badgley Mischka – and simple pearl jewelry. Her pearl studded veil was everything and more to add onto this look!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The bridesmaids wore all champagne gowns from SHow Me Your Mumu. Lexi let her girls pick which dress shape/style they felt most beautiful in, which always helps everyone look best in the photos! The girls paired their champagne dresses with nude heels and neutral glam beauty.

Lexi & Josh searched for the perfect catering fit for them and landed on Vestals, who gave them meals with two different entrees. The signature guava margarita – which Josh mixed up for Lexi for months and months before the wedding – was such a hit.

Forsythia Florals brought Lexi’s floral vision to life with a larger than life bouquet and a beautiful ceremony backdrop that was later moved to create the ultimate head table look.

These branches appeared to extend from the unforgettable green and white wallpaper backdrop, which dated back to the 1960s. The couple stood in front of the elaborately mirrored mantle in a room hung with elegant crystal chandeliers. The River Oaks Country Club in Houston provided a casual-but-elevated space to transform the ballroom wedding into a garden oasis. Their reception focused on lively decor and a room that encouraged guests to mingle. This included an array of dinner tables set in comfortable lounge arrangements. A circular bar with a large light-up tree served as a focal point for the space. They even had a checkered peach-colored dance floor![/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Unique touches inspired by their custom floral monogram graced their invitation suites, bar signage, and cocktail napkins.

“I used illustrations from our invitation suite by Mesh by Alex and created/printed my own stickers for a variety of DIY details, including welcome bag packaging, stationery for our day-of letters to each other, gift wrap for parent presents, plastic cups (waterproof stickers were key), and chicken tenders/fries containers that were passed around for late-night bites!”[/field]

A Coastal Wedding Weekend for Two High School Sweethearts

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blue, White, Gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Lauren and Parker wanted to embrace a classic Southern coastal wedding with elegant blue, white, and gold elements. Their vision was made a reality in the Delegal room at the The King & Prince. Each table was adorned with fun patterned table cloths and exploding with gorgeous florals from A Courtyard Florist.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]8 years ago, Parker asked Lauren to be his high school sweetheart and the rest is history. They went on to attend Texas A&M University, where their relationship grew stronger amongst many football games, date parties, formals, and even attending some classes together.Following graduation, the two moved back to Houston Texas where they decided to plant their roots and bought their first home together.
They always knew they would get married one day, but Parker knew the moment they brought home their golden retriever puppy, he needed to plan how to ask the big question. Lauren is notorious for figuring out details, especially when her sister Leah ask to get her nails done. However, with the help of friends and family they worked relentlessly to keep this a surprise.
As Parker’s family usually sends out Christmas cards every year, Parker suggested they take family photos with their new addition, Piper. Lauren wasted no time in ordering Piper a red checkered bow, as Parker worked behind the scenes ordering a bandana that said, “My humans are getting married!” If you are familiar with Houston weather, you know October can be on the warmer side, but Lauren followed the “Christmas” card theme, purchasing a sweater dress, while Parker dressed in a classic checkered button up. On 10.22.22, the three went to the Mcgovern Centennial Gardens ready to take family photos, after Parker spent the week scouting the perfect park backdrop, with his cousin ready as the photographer. As they began wrapping up photos, Parker insisted on taking a photo against the waterfall as he got down on one knee and popped the big question, as Lauren said “Yes!” Afterwards, they made their way back to their house, where their closest friends and family eagerly waited to celebrate the two. Lauren always envisioned herself in a simple wedding gown, so when it came time to go dress shopping she only made one bridal store appointment at Belleame Bridal Houston hoping to find “the dress.” She fell in love with the Essex gown by Allison Webb, a strapless trumpet gown with delicate beaded embroidery, cuff neckline, and of course, an embroidered bow for a southern touch. Lauren had a custom veil made to compliment her gown with delicate beading scattered with touches of lace. Classic Manolo Blahniks were added for Lauren’s, “something new.”

It is no secret that blue looks great on everyone and because of this, the decision to wear blue satin gowns for the bridesmaids was easy. Each gal had the opportunity to select one of two gowns from the Show Me Your Mumu bridal line and each wore it beautifully too!

Lauren and Parker chose a “Watermelon Margarita ” as a signature drink presented with a sugar rock rim (how the grooms orders his margaritas) to bring a touch of Tex-Mex to the island, including a watermelon twist as the two tied the knot in the summertime. Hors d’oeurves included a range of seafood and southern options including Mini Shrimp And Lobster Rolls, Classic Chicken & Waffles, along with Mini Quesadillas, of course! Usually choosing a menu can be difficult; however, for Lauren and Parker choosing Italian food was one of the easiest wedding planning choices they made, serving Penne Pasta Alla Vodka with Italian Meatballs and Classic Alfredo with Julianne Chicken. The groom, along with his father and brother enjoy grilling together, the two offered a casual Shish Kabob station with Honey Garlic & Lime Marinated Scallop & Prawn Kebobs,Thai Peanut Chicken, Snow Pea & Basil Kebobs, and Hoisin BBQ Glazed Beef Kebobs. To end the night, the bride wanted to include a fun way to celebrate her Mother in Law that recently passed. Patricia Smith was notorious for opening up her home to friends and family, and always had homemade baked goods and a cocktail ready for guests. The “Late Night Snack,” included homemade chocolate chip cookies from Ruby Lu’s Bakery coupled with Espresso Martinis presented in a frosted martini cup.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A Courtyard Florist filled the reception room with oodles was classic blue and white florals. Lauren selected the timelessness of long stemmed roses mixed with blue hydrangeas. Each table enjoyed the sight of magical arrangement. Her approach to the ceremony arch was that of celebrity status. Lauren wanted to create a garden-worthy picturesque ceremony that was a feast for the eyes. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Sweet Piper, Lauren & Parker’s golden retriever pup did not get to partake in the weekend festivities, however her image lived one throughout many of this wedding’s details. Particularly, Piper was featured on both the bride and groom’s cakes. Parker notoriously loves cookie cakes so the A&M cake was a two tiered cookie cake.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Bows played a huge role in the design vision for this wedding day. Lauren featured a stunning beaded satin bow on the back of her ceremony gown, and when the time was right, she swapped into a fun mini dress from Alexia Maria that also featured a large bow on the back for some sexy personality pics around the hotel.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Piper the Golden Retriever was featured in several details throughout the night. From the cocktail napkins to the cake, it was clear that her presence was missed![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

When choosing a wedding venue, Parker and Lauren settled on The King & Prince in St Simons Island, GA. As the bride’s family has been going to the Island to visit family for years, along with many family events at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, the venue and location held such special memories. When Lauren first brought Parker to the Golden Isles, he fell in love with the coastal small town with its friendly, warm, and welcoming sunny beaches, along with its whimsical oak trees, rich with history. Lauren and Parker were so excited to share the island with their closest family and friends, as the two decided to take a leap of faith and have a coastal destination wedding from Houston, Texas.

In April 2022, we went on a golf cart cocktail cruise in Mountaintop Golf Club while visiting my parents. Both of our parents were there that weekend because it was Easter (didn’t think anything of it because they came the year before for Easter).
We were driving on the 18th whole and earlier that day they had been hitting golf balls on that hole (the course wasn’t open for the season yet). He knelt down to put the ball down on the green and the next thing I knew he was on one knee looking at me with a ring in his hand. I was gobsmacked! The setting and timing was very fitting especially since our wedding, one year later, looked out over the 18th hole.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]With the bride’s fashion sense and love of color in mind, we chose a very vibrant color story with pops of yellow, corals and pinks along with softer touches of orchid and lilac.

A few weeks before the wedding, the planner/designer found some neon yellow ceremony chairs that had just been released by a company in Atlanta. Eva suggested that they be used in place of the white chiavari ones that had been ordered. They were a huge hit!! Guests were also mesmerized by the customized bar and dance floor which was a watercolor design used on the wedding invitations.

We carried through warm green tones for the tablecloths. This provided a natural backdrop for the colorful flowers to show off. Half of the tables had patterned tablecloths while the others were solid green. Moss was used as part of the centerpieces as a nod to the live moss that is common in the mountains.

With their Capri, Italy honeymoon in mind, fresh lemons were used as place card holders and were also used in abundance on the cake cart and guest book cart. Lemons made their way onto the signature cocktail menu as well.[/field]

Playful Pops of Color at This Summer Wedding in Sonoma

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]I wanted the day to just feel happy, colorful and playful/whimsical. The theme I kept picturing was confetti and wildflowers, so I tried to incorporate as many colorful and playful details into everything.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The proposal was a cascade of surprises! It was December in San Francisco and Max told me that there was a new holiday pop up spot in town that we wanted to go to as a date. However instead of a holiday pop up, he took me to the rooftop garden of the Fairmont where there was a heart made out of flowers was set up (which he’d enlisted one of my best friends to set up, the same best friend that he convinced to hide in the bushes to capture the moment :)). He then proposed on the rooftop and right after I said yes I heard cheering from the on lookers on the nearby balconies that happened to have a perfect view of the proposal.

After sharing a celebratory glass of champagne on the roof, Max led me into the lobby of the Fairmont that had its holiday life size gingerbread house set up. We were led into the house and at the table inside the house were my parents, Max’s parents, my best friend and Max’s best friend (who’d flown in from Texas and Southern California for the surprise)! We had a perfect dinner inside the life sized gingerbread house. We were event sent champagne by one of the hotel guests that had seen the proposal from the balcony. They told us that 30 years ago someone saw their proposal and sent over a bottle of champagne, and they were so excited to see ours and be able to pass along the tradition to us.

Just when I thought the evening could not be better, we decided to head back to our apartment for drinks, and when I walked inside, the apartment was full of all of our favorite people and decorated to the nines to celebrate our engagement![/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Sonoma Preferred Catering did an INCREDIBLE job on the food and drinks! Not only was the food incredible, they also included edible flower confetti to decorate each tray. The menu included tray passed hors d’oeuvres, spring green salad with peaches and chèvre, dry rubbed tri tip, sautéed chicken breast, spinach and roasted garlic ravioli, rosemary and olive oil grilled vegetables.

For dessert, I mentioned that I would love to incorporate cotton candy and rice crispy treats, and Sonoma Preferred delivered! They were spinning mini cotton candy cones all night and used a custom sprinkle mix with our colors on the rice crispy treats, as well as chocolate mousse, apple tartlets and chocolate caramel squares (which were made by a good family friend of ours and Sonoma Preferred incorporated seamlessly into the dessert display).

Then we had late night pizzas made in the on site wood fired pizza ovens passed around at the silent disco after party in the underground barrel room.

Our Signature Drinks included fresh, edible flowers in each cocktail as well as ice cubes with our monogram. We also had edible glitter for guests to add to their drink to add some sparkle![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]I wanted the florals to be bright, happy, colorful and whimsical and Fignvine delivered! Our aisle had flowers along the way and at the end of the aisle we had a floral ground arch with a loose, wild flower-esque design. I’d also asked that my and the bridesmaids’ bouquets be on the smaller side and look whimsical. The bouquets were all gorgeous and looked like each of us had just picked a posy of bright wildflowers.

For decor, we wanted to include as much color as we could and also include personal touches throughout. For the escort cards, we designed custom note cards and hand wrote a note to each guest, which we then placed in a colorful envelopes with each guest’s name and table assignment on the front. With 250 guests, we wanted to be sure we were able to personally thank each person for coming and celebrating with us, so we decided writing a love note to everyone there was a great way to express our love and gratitude.

For the table decor, we kept the table cloths and napkins simple so that we could focus on color with the table settings and flowers. For each table setting, we incorporated paper in each of our colors and tassels to add a bright element. Each table setting had the guests name, a QR code that turned the guests’ phone into a disposable camera, a fun facts quiz about the bride and groom to stir up some friendly competition amongst the table and the menu.

I made all of the signage and painted each acrylic sign in one of our colors and used my circuit to add all of the designs on the signs. I love dinosaurs and included a few hidden dinosaur elements throughout the decor as well.

To add a personal touch to cocktail hour, we made different “two truths and a lie” napkins about the bride and the groom in each of our wedding colors. Guests were able to find out the answers to each of the napkins at their place setting.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]I decided to make my own wedding cake! Max loves to surprise me with flowers, so over the last year, whenever Max brought me home a bouquet of flowers, I’d save and press a few from each bouquet and then used the pressed flowers to decorate the cake.

It was quite an adventure getting the cake to the venue. The day before the wedding the elevator in our apartment broke, so we had to carry the cake down five flights of stairs. Then in between hair and makeup on the day of the wedding, I brought the cake to the venue to set up, while still in my pajamas and with curlers in my hair. But it all worked out!

The bottom layer was cinnamon spice cake, middle layer was red velvet and top layer funfetti.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]I walked down the aisle to an acoustic piano mash up of Canon in D and the Jurassic Park theme song. The song was custom made by Johnny Keys on TikTok.

One of Max’s sisters officiated the wedding and we wrote our own vows, which we read from vow books that I painted with flowers to match the florals of our wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Barbie Jeep!

Growing up I’d asked my parents for a Barbie Jeep at every holiday and received the same answer: “We’ll get you one as a wedding present.” This was of course just their way of avoiding having to get me the Barbie Jeep by punting this off to the future. Although I never forgot about the Barbie Jeep, I eventually gave up on the dream of owning one.

Then, at the wedding, at the end of my dad’s speech, he asks: “What is the one thing you’ve asked us for your entire life that we never got you” and as I respond with “Barbie Jeep”, I turn around and a Barbie Jeep is being carried out to me! I could not believe it—I finally got the Barbie Jeep of my dreams! I drove the Barbie Jeep out on to the dance floor and it was perfect. The guests also got in on the fun and were taking the Barbie Jeep for a spin. My mother in law even took it for a ride!

(Given the hype about the Barbie movie this year, Barbie Jeeps were sold out everywhere, so my Dad actually was only able to find a Frozen Jeep, which he then turned into a Barbie Jeep after ordering the original 90s Barbie decals.)[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Welcome Bags

Our welcome bags were custom McDonald’s happy meal boxes. McDonald’s chicken nuggets played a central role in our first meeting, so we designed our welcome bags in the iconic happy meal shape as a nod to our initial meeting. Inside we included our favorite treats, which included Hershey’s “nugget” chocolates and custom fortune cookies.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Max and I both lost one of grandmas, but we wanted to be sure we included them in our day. I had each of our grandma’s names in their handwriting etched onto pendants and I attached the pendants to my bouquet.

The pearl necklace and bracelet I wore were on the wedding day were from the necklace my grandma had given me as I grew up. When I was born, my grandma gifted me a gold necklace with one pearl. Then for each major birthday or graduation, my grandma added an inch of pearls to that necklace. At my law school graduation, she gifted me with the completed 20 inch pearl necklace. For my wedding, I had the necklace restrung into a shorter necklace and bracelet to wear on the day.[/field]

Here’s What to Do When Your Wedding Vendors Aren’t Getting Back To You

A great wedding vendor can completely transform your planning process. Where there once was stress and uncertainty, your process becomes filled with color and magic, beauty and order. But what do you do if, at some point in the process, your e-mails and phone calls go unanswered? How do you know when a vendor’s silence is just situational, and when it’s something else entirely? Whether you need just a little patience or you need to let go, we’re here to help. By the end, we promise, you’ll feel reconnected– with your vendor or with your own intuition. Read on for our best tips!

1.    Give them grace

We really can’t emphasize this enough: wedding vendors do it all. Imagine if someone told you that you had to create your masterpiece—and you had a week to do it. Vendors really pour out their hearts and put their bodies on the line for the sake of their art– and their clients. Even though they plan events for a year or longer, they have just a handful of days to execute a vision. Each wedding comes with so much buildup and anticipation—both from the perspective of the bride and the vendor—and a true artist will do anything to ensure that the day is perfect. Wedding vendors really work full out.

If the intensity of wedding production wasn’t enough, all vendors go through the daily grind of owning and operating a business: taxes, admin work, payroll, recollections, you name it. It’s a lot. And yes, it’s true– everyone does hard things for their jobs, and wedding vendors shouldn’t receive special exemptions. But wedding work is unique in that it demands so much of a vendor both artistically and professionally. That’s why it’s so important– for both parties!– to begin with empathy and grace. If you haven’t heard from your vendors in a few days, understand that they are probably giving their all to a project—and you will appreciate this level of commitment so much when it comes time for your own wedding.

2.    Empathy works both ways

That being said, your experience matters. In a totally ideal, healthy vendor relationship, empathy flows both ways. There should be a mutual sense of, I don’t know what it’s like to be on the other side of this experience, but I want to try and understand. It’s important to recognize that your vendors have a lot on their plates, but it’s equally important that your vendor considers what the experience is like for you as a bride or groom. As you read through these suggestions, try to keep in mind what a healthy vendor relationship looks like— strive to both give and receive that level of grace—and admit when the relationship falls short.

3.    Notice little things before they become big things

The good news? Warning signs generally pop up early; if you pay close attention to your first exchanges, you can learn so much about a vendor’s communication style. Michelle of Michelle Lange Photography strongly encourages brides and grooms to pay attention to these early interactions, as they *usually* set the tone. “When inquiring with vendors it is important to note their responsiveness to not only your inquiry but also any additional correspondences you may have prior to booking,” notes Michelle, adding, “This is usually a good indicator of how responsive they will be after booking.” Ask yourself: how would you describe your first interaction? Professional, prompt, and kind? Or haphazard, disorganized, and confusing? “If you are unhappy with their response time, go with your gut and continue searching until you find a better fit,” encourages Michelle. “The last thing you need while planning your wedding is the stress of communication issues that are likely to continue. Every couple deserves to have a great experience with their wedding vendors and it starts with having excellent communication.”

4.    Ask your planner for an opinion

Wedding planners are the fairy matchmakers of the planning process—one minute they’re meeting you, the next, their introducing you to your (wedding vendor) soulmate. Planners draw from years of experience and insight, and can tell you firsthand what it’s like working with a vendor… or who you might have even better chemistry with. “We encourage our couples to really get to know the vendors they are looking to partner [with] and make sure they are good fit not only for their vision but personality-wise,” explains Jessica and Michael Masi of Masi Events. “As planners, we facilitate this stage as we really get to know our couples in a way that we know how to narrow down to a few or perhaps even one vendor” who can spark “an immediate connection.”

Photography: Ana Lui

5.    Set expectations early

“It’s important to communicate mutually your expectations from the very beginning,” according to Jessica and Michael Masi of Masi Events, who encourage their brides and grooms to ask their vendor about their “preferred method of communicating via phone or email, times, and frequency.” If your text messages don’t elicit a response, it could be that your vendor prefers a more formal approach. That’s why it’s so essential to ask questions like, How often should I hear from you? When can I expect to receive my visual proposal? Is e-mail the best way to be in touch? You know yourself best, so don’t be shy about bringing up any anxieties well before they become an issue. You can tell a vendor, “I really rely on communication, and hearing from you gives me so much peace of mind.”

Planner & Workshop Host: Sinclair & Moore | Photography: Kerry Jeanne Photography

6.   Add a timeframe to your e-mails

Maybe things seemed great in the beginning, but suddenly you can’t get your vendor to respond. Don’t panic just yet! There’s always a kind and tactful way to ask for what you want outright. “I think it is important to put some sort of time aspect in every email,” suggests Michelle of Michelle Lange Photography. “For example, ‘Hey, I would love to hear your thoughts by this Friday.’ Try to think one step ahead of the game so that you can give your vendor a reasonable time to respond. Additionally, if you have a read receipt function for your email, use that to make sure the email is getting through to the vendor.” If you have a certain time expectation, express it. Then you can know for sure whether a vendor is truly being unresponsive and disregarding your wishes.

Workshop Host/Lead Photographer: Lauren Fair Photography | Floral Design: Vintage Florals

7.    Keep their schedules in mind

As you communicate with vendors, always be mindful of what time of the season and week it is. From a purely practical standpoint, if a vendor is in wedding production, the needs of that wedding will rank higher than those of a project that’s months out. It doesn’t mean that one project matters more than the other; the needs of one are simply more pressing. “I personally try to respond to all my emails within 24 hours, but some may need an extra day or two during their busy season to respond,” explains Michelle of Michelle Lange Photography. If you send a message in the spring or summer months (and this is situation specific; many vendors don’t really have an ‘off season’ to speak of) or closer to the weekend, it may take a bit take a bit longer to receive a response. Again, when it comes time for your wedding, you will so appreciate these very qualities in a vendor, as they give your project their complete and undivided attention.

8.   Be a little more assertive

If the timeframe you’ve requested has come and gone without a response, your messages should take on a slightly more persuasive tone. Confrontation doesn’t have to be unkind; you can simply refer back to your previous e-mail and requested timeline. Consider something to the effect of, “I had hoped to make contact by Friday, the time-frame I requested in my previous e-mail, sent on (date). I completely understand that you are busy with wedding season, but it’s necessary that we meet so that we can both move forward with our plans.” Michelle of Michelle Lange Photography says clients in this situation should ask to speak directly to the vendor: “If you do not receive a response by the reasonable response date, follow up again and request a phone call or Skype meeting to answer your question.”

9.    Reach out on social

“I hope it never gets this far, but if you still do not receive a response, message them on their most active social media platform,” says Michelle of Michelle Lange Photography. Like Michelle, we encourage e-mails and phone calls first, and using social media as a kind of last resort.

Photography: Erich McVey Photography | Planning and Design: Laurie Arons Special Events

10.    Try to understand the reason behind the lack of response

If your vendor is being unresponsive, try to get to the heart of the matter. “It’s important to find out and truly understand the reasoning behind the vendor’s lack of response,” note Jessica and Micheal Masi of Masi Events. “This can be anything from a personal issue, workflow management, or in the worst-case scenario, unprofessionalism.” We know it’s hard, but try to divorce yourself from your emotional response to the situation, and really understand what’s going on.  It may very well be that your vendor has a good reason for their silence—and it may have nothing to do with you. Regardless, if you approach the issue from a place of genuine curiosity– and not defensiveness– you’re more likely to receive a genuine answer.

11.    Life Happens

Like all people, wedding vendors sometimes go through hard times that prevent them from being as responsive as they normally would. Illness, loss, and suffering of any kind can upend their lives and routines. In the most ideal situation, vendors will be transparent about what’s going on and a) tell you when you can expect to resume planning, or b) graciously offer your deposit back. Unfortunately, though, they might just go off the grid. This is where compassion and empathy comes into play. Before you react, understand that you just don’t know what someone is going through. Respond in a way that you will be proud of regardless of the situation. You’ll never regret sending a classy, professional, straightforward letter. You have every right to protect your investment, voice your concerns, and express your needs— just try to do so in a way that begins with empathy.

Photography: Mariel V

12.   (Maybe) have a heart-to-heart

In some circumstances, it may make the most sense to approach things on a human (and not strictly a professional) level. Your relationship with your wedding vendor may be all business, but you may also share some kind of creative connection or friendship.

If that’s the case, you could begin with something like, “Clearly, I love your work—that’s why I was drawn to you in the first place. I have a vision for my wedding, and that vision has always included you! That’s why your lack of communication not only concerns me, but hurts me a little. I know that you’ll do your best work and I’ll have the best experience when we trust each other, and right now I’m not there. What is it going to take to repair this and move forward in a way that’s beneficial for both of us?” You’ll feel better after writing it and your vendor may even be surprised to find how you feel; says Masi Events, “it is important to be honest and clearly communicate if you are feeling unattended to by the vendors you have hired because they might not realize you are feeling this way.”

Photography: Amanda Kay Photography

13.   Nobody said it was easy…

As with any other relationship, you’ll know in your heart when you’ve tried everything, and the partnership just isn’t going to last. Most vendors will be receptive to your attempts to schedule a meeting or get to the heart of the issue, but if they aren’t, it’s ok to admit that things didn’t work out. You may be frustrated and feel wronged, and a vendor breakup may very well break your heart. But in the end—for both parties—there’s something liberating about releasing what isn’t meant to be. The planning process is an incredible indicator of what the wedding day will look like, and if it’s been this much of a struggle to get on the same page—practically, creatively, emotionally—it’s likely that you just won’t be happy come wedding day.

Photography: Rebecca Yale Photography

14.   Re-read your contract

If it’s time to end things, you’re going to need to know the facts. Before you send a cancellation letter, familiarize yourself with the terms of your contract, including your vendor’s cancellation policy, deposit terms, and more. If you decide to terminate, there will probably be some financial repercussions. “Each contract will be different and weighing the cost of a lost deposit should weigh into your decision-making process,” state Jessica and Michael Masi of Masi Events. This a hugely frustrating part of the process, and a costly lesson to have to learn. There’s no sugar-coating it: it’s so difficult to lose not only a partnership but also an investment– and that includes the sheer amount of time you invested.

In some circumstances, your vendor will be gracious enough to return a deposit. But if you’re going to cancel, you probably need to want out badly enough that you’re willing– and have come to terms with- losing said deposit. If you’re willing to dedicate time and expenses, you may be able to recover the deposit. Then again, you may not. And in the end, isn’t this true of any kind of breakup? We always lose something— whether it’s a piece of our trust, our happiness, our time, our resources– but usually, we go on to heal, reclaim our joy, and find something even better for us. As the saying goes, not everything you lose is a loss.

15.   Step Away

If you’re still signed on but waiting to hear back from a vendor, and it’s really got you down, focus on the things you can control. It may sound cliché, but redirecting your attention to something positive– and manageable– will help you cling less tightly to this vendor situation. Make it fun! Treat yourself to a salon day, and plan something gorgeous for your wedding day hair and makeup. Pick out the perfect shade of wedding day nail polish. Schedule engagement photos, and go somewhere beautiful in nature, so you can just be in the moment, spend time with your fiancé, and dream of the beautiful life that awaits you. [section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Guests were given the option to enjoy cocktail hour both inside and outside. Appetizers such as bacon wrapped scallops, pistachio chicken and cheesesteak spring rolls were passed. “His and Her” signature drinks were being made left and right with “fun fact” napkins handed out with every drink. “His” drink was an Old Fashioned and “Hers” was a Cosmopolitan. During cocktail hour, guests were able to sign a custom watercolor painting of the venue as a keepsake for Alyssa and Fred. Guests were also given the option to partake in a wine tasting that was held in the speak easy.

As guests made their way into the reception ballroom, they were greeted with a glass of champagne on a luscious greenery wall. The dinner was a delicious split plated meal with options such as sautéed shrimp and grilled chicken, and crab cake and roast filet of beef. Towards the end of the night, guests were treated with a gelato bar with nine house churned flavors to choose from and served in mini mason jars. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The flowers throughout the entire venue were stunning and extravagant. They were a mix of white, cream and blush and added the most elegant and sophisticated touch to the venue’s natural beauty. Alyssa’s bridal bouquet was filled with white roses, peonies, ranunculus, and green eucalyptus. The stairs inside and outside of the venue were draped with custom floral installations. The aisle was lined with cream and white arrangements, and the focal point of the ceremony was a beautiful rectangular arch that was perfectly arranged.

Guests were welcomed to the wedding with a beautiful sign made with a tall gold stand and fabric sign that incorporated a welcome message and an illustration of the venue.

The decor at the ceremony and reception incorporated touches of gold throughout the spaces, and it made the wedding feel luxurious and elegant. Guests found their seats on a gold antique mirror seating chart with table numbers on cardstock that were secured with gold wax seals.

The dinner tables were neutral and classic with glass candelabra’s, gold silverware, and cream water fall napkins. The tables were lined with gorgeous flowers as well. Greenery was cascading from the outside tent borders, and custom floral chandeliers hung throughout the tent. The flower arrangements from the ceremony were repurposed for the reception and placed in front of their live band. The arch from the ceremony was also repurposed and was perfectly placed behind the sweetheart table. Alyssa and Fred sat comfortably at their table on a cream velvet love seat. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a three-tiered red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and icing. It was decorated with edible pearls and stood on a gold cake stand. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The day started off with tornado warnings, one of the worst thunderstorms, and dark clouds were looming over the venue all morning. Right before the ceremony started, the sky was completely blue and there was not a cloud in sight. It was the perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony! [/field]
