Lavish Lake Como Wedding With Three Phenomenal Wedding Dresses

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Neutrals and soft blushes were the color palette. The bridesmaids wore champagne/gold, but there was no set color scheme. Ying wanted the florals to look organic and colorful to fit in with the decor of the villa and its gardens.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Ying & Billy wanted the guests to enjoy a memorable experience and getaway in Lake Como. They ultimately wanted the space to feel as natural as the interiors of Villa Sola Cabiati & the beautiful grounds surrounding the property.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride, Ying: Billy planned to propose on a boat in Positano during a vacation to Italy (it was each one’s first visit to the country despite the fact that Billy is an Italian citizen). Before they could make it to Positano – on the first full day of the trip, June 16, 2019 – Ying and Billy headed to meet some of Billy’s distant relatives in the southern region of Calabria at a graduation party for his cousin Christian. Despite having never met before, the family embraced the couple warmly with hugs, kisses, and mountains of food. Only one person at the party spoke any English, and conversations were conducted almost exclusively through gesturing and Google translate. One of Billy’s aunts showed him a message translated on her phone that read, “I heard you want to ask your girlfriend something.” – Billy wrote back that he wasn’t prepared (the ring was back at the Airbnb!) and didn’t want to steal attention from the graduate. Multiple members of the family (including the graduate, Christian) kept insisting that right there in front of the family was precisely the right time and place! Billy and the one English speaker went to the front of the room on the pretense that he was going to give a speech (the English-speaking guest took the microphone and translated into Italian after each sentence): “112 years ago, my great-grandfather left Rose and went to America. It took me more than 100 years to get back to my family. It’s beautiful to see where I come from and where my past is. Today is the first day that my past and my future meet – and that is why I would like to take this moment to ask this woman to marry me.” Billy got down on one knee, Ying broke into stunned tears, and two glasses of champagne were produced for the couple, who were showered with congratulations all around.

The wedding dress designer was Galia Lahav, and the dress was done in lace with tulle. I loved the form-fitting beaded lace top of this mermaid gown and its dramatic tulle train, but I was looking for something strapless. The bridal salon called the designer, who agreed to customize it without straps, and I was instantly sold! The first dance wedding dress designer was Nadine Merabi and it was done in lace and sequins. I had been scouring the internet for a tea-length bridal dress for our first dance but couldn’t find anything that I loved. One day, I randomly scrolled across an ad from Nadine Merabi on Instagram and knew it was exactly what I had been looking for! The reception/late-night wedding dress designer was Berta, and the dress was tulle. While I loved my mermaid ceremony gown, it wasn’t easy to move around (much less dance), so I was looking for something a bit more comfortable for the second half of the reception. When I saw this Berta glitter under the lights of the bridal salon, I fell in love immediately.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids wore a champagne or gold gown of their own choosing, and groomsmen wore black tuxedos.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

A tuxedo with a white jacket for the ceremony and a black jacket for the reception, both from Hall Madden. Black velvet Christian Louboutin loafers, an anniversary gift from the bride, and a Rolex Submariner watch, a wedding gift from the bride.

We set up a reception tent in case of rain (which is common in Como – it rained for 4 hours straight prior to the ceremony and the rain stopped just as the first guests arrived). We had assorted candles and flower arrangements of various sizes in antique vases running down the center of long rectangular tables. Chandeliers draped with greenery hung from the top of the tent.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a traditional Italian wedding cake consisting of layers of wafers, strawberries and cream, which was assembled live in front of the guests before Billy cut the cake with a sword.

A Summer Wedding Inspired by the Natural Beauty of Aspen at The Little Nell

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The bride is notorious for her love of neutrals. When people asked what the
“wedding colors” were, she always said “there is NO wedding color.” The entire theme
was neutrals. White flowers with tons of greenery. White draping in the reception.
Bridesmaids wore champagne. Although the wedding was in the mountains, the feel
was formal.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Simple. Inspired by the beauty of Aspen. Timeless. Elegant.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The couple met in May of 2021, got engaged in
December of 2021 and got married in August of 2022. The timeline was quick! Katie
actually booked the venue before he proposed.
They did their engagement shoot with their wedding day photographer. Jacie was a
legend and made them feel super comfortable. By time the wedding came around, they
trusted her so implicitly that she actually helped with much more than just great photos.
She recommended that the couple do their “first look” in Aspen before riding the
gondola to the top together. It allowed them to get even more incredible photos and
spend even more time together on the wedding day.
Mikhail proposed on Christmas day in front of both of their families and Katie’s maternal
grandparents. They were wearing matching Gnome pajamas.
They did a first look with their beloved dog, Stella.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Couple’s name and their story (who are they, how they met, their relationship and
wedding wishes)
Mikhail Kosyan and Katie Bonneau (now Katie Kosyan)
The couple met on Hinge! On their first date Mikhail picked Katie up for dinner and
brought along a tennis ball as a gift to her beloved dog, Stella. The second date is
infamous because Mikhail brought Katie to “paint gnomes” at a local brewery…the
genius is that you have to have a third date to go pick them up ;)
Katie grew up going to Aspen, Colorado with her grandparents. It was always her dream
to get married at The Little Nell. Mikhail told Katie he loved her for the first time in Aspen
while they were there for his rugby tournament. The place has become very special to
them.
The couple wanted the wedding to be a perfect mix of both of their cultures. Mikhail is
Armenian and was born in Eastern Europe. The couple incorporated traditional dancing,
plate smashing, readings in both english and russian, and more.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]What made the day unique:
Music! A lot of traditional Armenian music with traditional dancing to match.
We did a plated dessert tasting instead of a cake.
Bride and groom changed into Adidas tracksuits for the second half of the reception.
Adidas track suits are very popular in Easter Europe and the groom is a huge fan…so
much so that he wore a bright red Adidas tracksuit on their second date (to paint
gnomes).[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Advice from the couple about the event:
Enjoy! it truly goes by as fast as they say it does.
Work with people you trust! Our photographer (Jacie Marguerite) was much more than
a photographer to us. She really helped guide us through the whole process.
Try to make the wedding a weekend affair! Spend time greeting guests and family
during the rehearsal dinner and pre wedding events so you can soak up time together
(as a couple) on the wedding day.
Mikahil and Katie spent the night together, woke up and walked their dog, got coffee,
and relaxed before they had to go their separate ways to get ready. it was a great way
to start the day and set intentions.[/field]

Gorgeous Garden-Inspired Pastel Wedding In Vermont

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

In the Bride’s words: “I want a pastel rainbow!”

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Vermont is the backdrop of this wedding, but the groom’s ties to Vermont are extensive. So much history there. Vermont means so much to his family. Jeff is a multi-generational Vermonter. Both his parents and grandparents grew up in the St Johnsbury and Burke area. His parents got married on the property of what is now the Inn at Burklyn 50 years ago! Over the past 2 years, we’ve spent a lot of time in Vermont together, and Laura wanted to share with her friends and family the Vermont experience and its beauty. The specific property in Barnet is Impey family property, which was originally Jeff’s Grandparents. We’ve had lots of fun memories together there – hiking, cross-country skiing, and sledding in the fields on the property. The Bride was represented with southern touches woven throughout the wedding, to show her Virginia history.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Jeff (a Primetime Engineering Emmy Award winner): I proposed to Laura near the Brooklyn Bridge in a quiet park (Bridge View Park), which had become one of our favorite spots to hang out. I also suspected that Laura thought I might ask in Costa Rica (A trip that I had planned with an unusual amount of detail for my style) so I wanted to surprise her by proposing before. I was very nervous that I would not be able to get Laura to walk the path I had planned without getting suspicious. But it all worked out as planned. When she said yes, there was a family nearby that cheered for us and we heard loud cheering at a distance. We looked up and saw ~50 people cheering for us at a rooftop bar! We then had dinner on a boat along the dock and Facetimed our closest friends and family to tell the the news. It was a perfect night – and then two days later we left to Costa Rica, ring and all. The ring ended up being even more symbolic than I initially thought. In the months leading up to the proposal we had done some casual ring shopping so I had broad direction/idea (rose gold, liked oval shape diamond). I wanted to add a more personal touch to the ring by adding something on the inside of the band. I decided to add Laura’s birth stone and two tiny diamonds on both sides of the birth stone. I did not know it at the time, but the diamond, aquamarine, diamond layout I put on the inside of the ring was a replica of the ring Laura’s late mother gave to Laura! I was stunned when Laura showed me the ring from her mother and happy that a symbol from her mother had somehow found its way into the ring.

Wedding Dress by Oscar De La Renta. The Bride actually originally tried it on at Carine’s Bridal in DC which was lovely with her Grandma and cousin Lissie, and this dress made her grandma and the Bride cry, and then she re-tried it on at the flagship in NY and it just made more sense to get it here for fittings and such!

Bride’s Rehearsal Dinner Dress: The Bride had her late Mom’s wedding dress shortened and tailored, and the big 80s sleeves somewhat de-puffed (by about half the puffiness, but they’re still puffy!). It’s originally from Lauren Ashley (apparently the furniture/decor store made wedding dresses in the 80s!!) Tailored by the lovely Bridgestone Cleaners.

Bride’s Reception/Change dress by Katie May Collection. Purchased online using their Bridal Box process to try on. Tailored by Bridgestone Cleaners, too!

Bride’s Shoes – Harriet Wilde a British brand purchased online – they were so nice about shipping and presentation. These are the shoes the Groom stepped on in one of their first dance lessons when the Bride was trying to break them in!

Bride’s Jewelry details. Engagement and wedding rings were purchased at Marisa Perry in the west village of New York. The weddings rings are engraved with a line from the lyrics of their first dance song. The Bride also wore her late mom’s engagement ring that she left her – a diamond-aquamarine-diamond gold ring (includes something blue!). Her mother took her three-stone engagement ring and divided it into two rings for the Bride’s sister and her when she knew her illness was terminal. The Bride’s has an aquamarine center, my birthstone; Her sister got the middle diamond with two added sapphires (her birthstone). Fun story – on the inside of the Bride’s actual engagement ring, the Groom wanted to do something to make it personal, so he put a tiny birthstone (aquamarine) on the inside of the ring, and then he put diamonds on either side without ever seeing the ring her mom left her. So there is a tiny replica of her ring inside the Bride’s engagement ring! Pretty wild. The Bride wore her mother’s pearls for the rehearsal dinner with her dress too.

Bridal earrings – BHLDN Bridal hair pins – Vivi Embellish – they did rush shipping which I really appreciated!

Henny B’s Cakes – A specific shade of yellow (lots of trial and error to get the perfect shade of yellow for the Bride!) and handmade sugar flowers. Tiered and textured. Utter perfection, as to be expected from Henny!

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]A quartet from NYC played Edelweiss. Sound of Music vibe. Bride’s friend sang, too.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]How They Met: Our first date was for afternoon drinks in Marina del Rey (Brennan’s, a bar known for turtle racing). On the second date, Jeff took Laura on a picnic and wine tasting at Will Rogers state park, which led to an impromptu dinner, Jeff meeting Laura’s two guinea pigs named Grace & Frankie, and Jeff showing off his “dance” moves at a local bar.

Stationery by El’s Cards. A special, significant detail that was woven through the stationery was a wedding swing. Photos were taken of the Bride and Groom on the swing, too.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The Groom’s parents were married at the The Inn at Burklyn 50 years ago. The vintage car in the photos belongs to the Groom’s parents and has special significance as the Groom’s parents drove away in that car 50 years ago!

A Hurricane Pivot Plan and Pops of Pink in Lowcountry

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]chartreuse, olive, neutrals and all hues of pinks[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We were lucky enough to essentially have two weddings–one planned extensively, and one thrown together at the last minute to outrun a hurricane! More on that to come… When making our original wedding plans, we really wanted every second of the day to feel like a party – fun was my focus! This was reflected in the vibrant colors, the spicy margaritas, the second hand parade, the interactive band, the cowboys hats, etc. I really wanted people to walk away simply saying they had the best time! From a design standpoint, we wanted something that was reflective of us as a couple. We had small nods to the Lowcountry like game feathers in the florals, while also attempting to keep the design timeless. Having pops of color was a MUST, so we brought those elements in through flowers and the invitation suite. Ultimately, we did have the wedding party of our dreams, just at a slightly later date! We actually said our vows a few days early in a totally unexpected setting, and, looking back now, I wouldn’t change a thing. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Forrest’s proposal was amazing, but it hardly caught me by surprise! Allow me to elaborate… There I was at dinner with a friend on a Thursday night when I got an unexpected text from my future mother in law, Carolyn. The text was intended for my mother, but Carolyn had accidentally included me as well! To my great shock and elation, I read Carolyn’s message to my mom: glowing remarks about how excited she was for me to join the family followed by an extremely detailed play-by-play of how Forrest was soon to propose that Sunday! It took the two moms about 5 minutes to realize their error.

They tried their best to intercept, calling my dinner companion to steal my phone away, but it was too late- the cat was out of the bag, and I was delighted. As she put it later “not only did I spill the beans, but I gave you the whole darn recipe!” In truth, it was hilarious and actually set the pace for the rest of our wedding festivities…just a perfect chaotic mess that I wouldn’t change a bit!

Forrest did end up successfully surprising me a few weekends later. He proposed at my childhood home, the spot where we had our very first kiss in high school, and then invited all of my friends and family to his parents’ house afterwards for fun and fireworks!

I adored my wedding dress– a romantic gown with cascading shoulder bows from Modern Trousseau in Charleston. My wedding earrings were custom made by Dee Ruel of Charleston, and my shoes were from Something Bleu. My party look was sleeker- a dress by Marquise Bridal paired with Islo Isabelle Lorusso gold pumps and a rhinestone-encrusted cowboy hat from EastnWest. A cowboy hat always makes everything more fun! My “hurricane wedding” look was a little more ad hoc. I wore a dress by a designer on Etsy, Cult Gaia pearl earrings, and a pair of shoes I grabbed from the mall in a frenzy that morning.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My vision for my bridesmaids was for them to feel as beautiful and bomb as I hoped to feel on my wedding day! I told them to wear any pink dress as long as it made them feel amazing. My girls brought a fun mix of elegant and funky, and I think they looked fab.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Our wedding was black tie, and Forrest and his groomsmen wore bow ties from the local brand Brackish with their tuxes. Even in elegant formal wear, the boys managed not to take themselves too seriously, arriving in style in the local “Longhorn Limo.” This automobile is a gem: a 1980s limousine with red velvet seating and great vibes. This fit well with my wedding day gift to Forrest: an engraved cowbell! This was a nod to our mutual love for SNL that I knew would make Forrest laugh. [/field]

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Our florals featured tons of texture and mixtures of elements from proteas, to garden roses, to palms, and ranunculus. The florist did a great job of marrying funky elements in with the tried and true traditional blooms.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake was fun yet sophisticated. We wanted something sleek in design to let the flowers around it shine. It was just as yummy as it was pretty – with flavors layers of Lemon, Vanilla with salted Caramel, and Hazelnut with Cream Cheese.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

At both weddings, I walked down the aisle to “Multiplied” by NeedtoBreathe. This song is magical in every way, even when played from a small bluetooth speaker, which is what we had to do during our hurricane wedding, as the musicians were unavailable on such short notice, and the sound system had been struck by lightning! This perfectly imperfect memory was made even sweeter when we finally had a string quartet playing the song live as I walked down the aisle again at our second celebration.

My pastor, Buster Brown, officiated both of our wedding ceremonies. He is the head pastor of the church I have attended my entire life, and I respect him beyond words. Reverend Janis Kent, one of my personal heroes and a dear friend, delivered a reading and prayed over our marriage as the sun set over the water at our second celebration. Of the entire night, her prayer is one of my most treasured memories. I will carry it with me forever.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Our original wedding plans were interrupted by Hurricane Ian bearing down on Charleston. Even despite my close family friendship with our local weatherman, none of us could predict this! When our venue was forced to shut down due to high wind speeds, we decided to forge ahead and get married a day early, converting our rehearsal dinner into a wedding celebration. This came with its own set of logistical hurricanes. Most importantly, we needed a church. After a phone call to a pastor I had never met and an impromptu vote by the church elders on this unconventional last minute request, we secured a sanctuary across the street from our rehearsal dinner! The rest is history. In the midst of the chaos, the rain, the wind, the constant pivoting and the emotional rollercoaster…our people showed up. And when I say showed up, I mean SHOWED UP with all the love, encouragement, excitement, smiles, and big fun energy of any big ol’ wedding. A literal hurricane could not stop our friends and family from showing up for us that night. To this day, I truly have never felt more in awe. In particular, my dad and my mother in law Carolyn, were rocks that entire week and went above and beyond in every way to make our rehearsal dinner turned wedding one of the most beautiful nights of our lives![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]One of my favorite moments of our “second wedding day” was the champagne toast to our bridal party. I took this as an opportunity on our big day to tell all of our best friends exactly how big THEY make us feel! I got to express how incredible our friends are and how thankful I am that God placed each of them in our lives. I treasure and admire their unique personalities and strengths, and was sure to tell them that yes Forrest is now stuck with me forever, but they are too![/field]

Contemporary Sophistication Comes to Life at Castle Leslie Estate in Ireland

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The union of timeless elegance and contemporary sophistication comes to life at Castle Leslie. The inspiration behind this enchanting wedding editorial is a love story that defies the ages, a narrative where every detail plays a pivotal role in telling a tale of eternal romance. The creative minds of AMV Weddings crafted a setting that echoes the grandeur of classic romances, breathing life into every frame with a touch of modern finesse.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Whimsical blues, serene ivories, and accents of lush greenery.

A light and enchanting color palette of whites and blues contributed to a whimsical theme with lush florals which delicately complimented the natural beauty of the castle. From the ceremony setting with colossal urns set amidst the stone arches of the castle, and a sprawling tablescape with stunning overhead arches flanking the dinner area, the design played a pivotal role in transforming the castle into a floral dreamland. The facade of the castle in combination with the beautiful lakeview, served as the perfect backdrop for this fairytale celebration.
Overgrowing organic greenery combined with pops of white and light blue tones created the perfect balance between romance and refinement. Gold-accented tableware and crystal glassware added a luxurious touch, creating an atmosphere that was both timeless and contemporary.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Castle Leslie, with its historic walls, enchanting forests, and tranquil lakes, provided a backdrop that exudes an aura of noble charm. The venue’s grandeur is seamlessly intertwined with nature, offering a symphony of majestic architecture and picturesque landscapes, ideal for an editorial that celebrates love’s unending beauty.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Frog Prince Weddings’ florals were a poetic composition of nature’s finest, with bouquets and arrangements brimming with blue delphiniums, ivory roses, and verdant foliage. Nuage Designs complemented these with classic furniture and linens, creating a harmonious blend of color and texture that elevated the visual experience.[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]The most captivating design element was the harmonious blend of the floral arrangements with the heritage architecture of Castle Leslie. The way the florals adorned the stone balustrades and the grand entrance, they seemed to grow from the very walls of the castle, blurring the lines between man-made and natural beauty.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]To replicate this look, focus on the cohesion of color and texture. Choose a venue that offers both history and natural beauty, and accent it with florals that both contrast and complement the surroundings. Attention to detail is paramount—select attire and decor that speak to the environment and the story you wish to tell.[/field]
[field title=”DIY Moments”]Although the grandeur of Castle Leslie speaks for itself, personal touches can be found in the hand-selected styling accessories. The Styling Reserve’s ring boxes and April Raymond and Locust Collection’s styling mats offer inspiration for couples to incorporate bespoke elements that reflect their personal journey into their own wedding aesthetic.[/field]

Natural Elegance Editorial Full Of Romance In Rome

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

This romantic editorial in Castello Ruspoli is an ode to nature and beauty. Every detail was thought to perfection, from the resplendent styled dinner table to the pastel colour palette that compliments the place’s natural one and enhances Monique Lhuillier’s colourful bridal silhouette. If you don’t believe me, take a look at Diane Sotero Photography’s stunning shots, and you’ll feel like you’re ready to celebrate your love at this magical location.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

A classic autumn palette, but this time with the addition of some blush pink flowers and blue mise en place for a change. We love how this two small color adjustments brought such a romantic look to what could have been a standard autumn theme. This is what happens when you combine Ana Toniolo Weddings with the impeccable floristry of Motif Floral.

[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

Castello Ruspoli was built at the beginning of the 1500s for the first count and countess of Vignanello. It’s an enchanting Medieval Castle located in northern Lazio with one of the most important Renaissance Gardens in Europe.

Citrus-Inspired Summer Wedding in the Gardens of Salisbury Mansion

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pastel shades of pinks and blues with lush orchids and roses with citrus notes accompanied by lots of fresh florals and greenery.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Welcome to an enchanted wedding nestled in the gardens of Salisbury Mansion, located in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa. This historic home & gardens lent the perfect backdrop to Amelia & Sterling’s elegant and chic garden party inspired wedding. Following their ceremony in the gardens, guests dined under string lights & greenery in a tent across the lawn. After toasts, guests moved to the brick courtyard for dancing under the stars. The band kept the party going all night long!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Sterling and I met in Washington, DC where I work. He was visiting his sister who was also my friend! We had an intimate get together in our home with friends when he entered the room. We immediately locked eyes. He was the only man there so I quickly asked if he would like a bowl of my homemade soup to make him feel welcome. The rest is history! He invited me up to his home of Kodiak Island, Alaska where I spent time on his vessel that he captains on the ocean. We fell deeper in love. The next year, he proposed in front of a glacier in the remote waters of Alaska on jet skis.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Once the overall design details were completed, we couldn’t forget about the food and drinks! None of our guests left hungry. Our mocktail
hour menu included hand crafted mocktails, and a long charcuterie grazing table. The selection of passed hors-d’oeuvres included jumbo gulf coast shrimp, fresh bruschetta on crostini and more!

The outdoor tent reception was under the Iowa moon light with a plated meal with the options of chicken amaggio with a lemon cream sauce, beef tenderloin with a cabernet reduction, and of course per Alaskan tradition, Baked Salmon . In addition, the first course included Arancia Insalata with pine nuts and the sides were, Green Beans Almandine and a Potato Croquette.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The first question in the planning process was, where were we to have the wedding? We thought about a mountain in Alaska and my family’s generational farm in Iowa but we ultimately chose the most enchanting European style house and gardens in the heart of Iowa’s Capitol, Salisbury House and Gardens. The mansion was built in the 1920s and was inspired by The King’s House in Salisbury, England, blending Tudor, Carolean, and Gothic architectural details. I knew it would be a unique destination for guests from Washington DC, Alaska and Iowa to fawn over.

We wanted our guests to feel loved and seen in our intimate garden party, all meticulously designed by Honey and Joy Events. It was a large gathering yet everyone felt that it was a thoughtful wedding day. We wanted the day to be high energy yet laid back. The string quartet for the ceremony and the live band for the reception were perfect!

My next thought was colors, keeping the European garden theme in mind led me to choose pastels and colorful flowers. These included lush roses, and pink orchids. In addition, each table had bright citrus elements.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The whimsical 3 tiered cake was created by a local pastry chef Alix Brower of Dore Bakery, a bespoke bakery with meticulous creations. The desserts had a French influence with macarons, mini fruit tarts and for an Iowa classic, a local ice cream truck.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]I wanted to be sure to include our grandparents who had passed away. We had folded flags for our grandfathers who were veterans and white roses for our grandmothers on chairs in the front row.

My nephew was the ring bearer and he carried my grandfather’s personal Bible he kept close to him as a soldier and prisoner of war during the Korean War.

Family is very important to me. I was so pleased to have my entire family including my 7 nieces and nephews involved in the wedding as junior groomsmen and bridesmaids.

Since Christ is the center of our marriage, I chose to walk down the long cobblestone isle surrounded by the lush gardens to “Be Thou My Vision” with a string quartet. My husband and I partook in communion using my late grandmother’s glass chalice and antique plate. The gospel message was made clear by our pastor in the ceremony along with scripture reading. A Timeless Low Country Wedding Underneath the Oaks

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Elegant blue, white, and gold elements tied together with soft greenery. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Corrine and Jonathan wanted to show off the true beauty of the low country with their whimsical yet elegant wedding at Hewitt Oaks. The couple fell in love with the majestic oaks on the property and found it to be the perfect setting to celebrate with their family and friends. The bride’s vision for the day was timeless low country elegance.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Jonathan and Corrine’s love story started in the summer of 2015 when Corrine and her family moved from Virginia to Kentucky. At the time Jonathan was working for the construction company owned by Corrine’s uncles and was assigned to help with the renovations of Corrine’s new family home. Corrine had only been in Kentucky for two days when she met Jonathan and the couple has been together ever since.

Jonathan finally popped the question on August 14th, 2022 in Marco Island, Florida on the beach, while on their seven year anniversary trip. Every year they go away for their anniversary to celebrate, so going on a trip wasn’t something new. Corrine knew they’d eventually get engaged but wasn’t expecting him to propose on this trip. Jonathan decorated the Beach with rose petals, had a vase of her favorite flowers (tulips) and a bottle of Moet champagne on ice. Corrine said it was like a scene from The Bachelor, it was so romantic. [/field]

They also included a signature drink in honor of their dog Archie, called “Archie’s Pup Crush”, and had a floral designed keg wall for the craft beer fans. Hewitt Oaks in-house culinary team, Southern Graces, provided the reception dinner of lemon roasted chicken with macaroni and cheese, grilled seasonal vegetables, and corn muffins. As a nod to the low country, classic lowcountry boil was also served. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Hewitt Oaks’ own floral and design team worked their magic to deliver an elegant design of white and greenery, including pops of blue for a whimsical touch. For the ceremony underneath the grand oak Promise Tree, they crafted lush white and blue floral aisle arrangements with clustered candles at the base of each row of chairs to create a gorgeous aisle for the bride to walk down. The bride and groom’s reception took place outdoors surrounded by Hewitt’s majestic live oaks. The design included varying reception tables toped with classic white and greenery centerpieces. Each place setting included gold dinnerware and chargers underneath white and blue floral dinner plates. At the center of the dance floor hung a beautiful floating floral chandelier amongst the tree’s twinkle lights. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Hewitt Oaks’ Southern Graces crafted the bride and groom’s classic three-tier wedding cake adorned with florals and a miniature replica of Archie (the couple’s pup).[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Sporting his own custom tuxedo, Corrine and Jonathan’s beloved dog Archie served as the ring bearer during their ceremony. They just couldn’t imagine saying their I do’s without including him in the nuptials. On his way down the isle he made sure to stop and greet the guests. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]To remember the occasion and to gift guests with a signature piece from the low country, the bride and groom turned oyster shells into keepsake ornaments. And for the guests with fur pets at home, they added squeaky balls for them to take home. [/field]

10 Unconventional Gifts Your Bridesmaids are Sure to Love

There’s no question about it: your bridesmaids are the gals that have, and will, stick by your side to the very end. Whether it’s a crew of 15 or a handful of your nearest and dearest, it’s possible that the months and weeks leading up to the big day have included a moment or two of calling in for reinforcements as you get closer to “I do”-and the best of bridesmaids will step in before you even have to call. You’ll feel compelled to show your appreciation, not just for standing by your side at the altar–or having a tissue ready when you need it!–but for all the time they’ve spent being your friend. Gifts for your group are part “thank you for being here today”, part celebration of friendship, and always a fun way to share your favorites. We’ve rounded up the best ways to extend your gratitude as the wedding day draws closer, no matter the size of the bridal party.

Photography by Elizabeth LaDuca | Bridesmaid Dresses by Jenny Yoo | Wedding Dress by Badgley Mischka

1. Get a little something just for her.

Rather than try to find a handful of things that will work for everyone, why not focus on getting one specific gift, tailor-made for each friend? Maybe you’ve got a fashion-savvy maid of honor, and a beauty-obsessed best friend, and a few friends in between. Spend some time thinking about what might be the perfect addition to an arsenal they already possess, or something you’ve heard them mention that would be fun to surprise them with–whether that’s a great accessory, a cookbook, or a gift card for a blowout! The personalized touch will say you were thinking specifically about them, and that’s a gift in itself.

Photography by Rebecca Yale Photography

2. Craft the ultimate gift box.

A collection of all the things one might need on the big day could be just the thing to take the pressure off of a bridesmaid wanting to make sure all the details are covered! Mini bottles of champagne, cute flats to replace their heels on the dance floor, a handful of chocolates or truffles, even tube of lipstick officially declared “the color of the day” combine the practical with a taste of fun, sure to last beyond just the wedding day.

Photography by Ruth Eileen Photography

3. Everybody loves a monogram.

We’re here for anything branded, whether it be hangers for their bridesmaid dresses, bouquet ribbons, or something to get ready in the morning of the wedding. A tote or duffle bag might be just the thing she needs to pack up and hit the road when the next girls’ trip calls!

Photography by Greer Gattuso | Bridal Robe by Jonquil | Bridesmaids Robes by Homebodii

4. Go for a day at the spa.

Massages, manicures, blowouts…the gift of pampering will never go out of style, and even if you’re not with them when they go for their hot stone massage, you can rest assured knowing a day at the spa might be exactly what the doctor (and the bride) ordered.

Photography by Abby Jiu Photography

5. Long live the girls’ trip!

No one has ever said no to a weekend away with their best friends. Even if your schedule only allows for a quick 24 hours in a new-to-you city–or a place with BFF history–getting away can provide a much needed respite from the craze of wedding planning, and also give you a chance to bask in some sunshine and fun, should you choose a tropical locale. Do some research on what you want to do and see, and what will give you the most bang for your buck, so you’ll feel more at peace about soaking up every minute away!

Photography by Emily Wren Photography

6. Gift a framed photo.

Who’s to say the gift-giving has to happen prior to your walk down the aisle? The only thing that lasts beyond the wedding day are the pictures to prove it; have a shot of the two of you from the day as bride & bridesmaid set in a frame she’ll love.

Photography by Marion Heurteboust | Wedding Dress by Limor Rosen

7. Splurge on professional hair & makeup.

Even if your don’t spend the entire morning getting ready together, consider treating your girls to having their hair and makeup done by a professional, along with you. It might eliminate a bridesmaid’s worry about needing to test out waterproof mascara or long-lasting blush, and will definitely alleviate the pain of having to apply fake eyelashes herself (not for the faint of heart, trust me!). Depending on how many are in the queue, your hairstylist might need to call in reinforcements to get everyone primed and ready and on schedule, so make sure to give your friends the heads’ up to be prompt for their beauty call-times!

Photography by Oliver Fly | Bridesmaid Dresses by Watters

8. Let them choose their own dress!

If you’ve ever been asked to be a bridesmaid yourself, or even seen one movie about tying the knot, chances are you know the likelihood of actually re-wearing the dress chosen for you as a bridesmaid are sometimes slim to, unfortunately, none. So giving the gift of choice is something we can get behind 100%! Leave it up to your girl gang to decide what fit and style looks best on them; you can even give some stipulations as to color or length so there’s a modicum of coordination, and give your stamp of approval once they’ve made their selection.

Photography by Anagram Photo | Wedding Dress by Monique Lhuilier

9. Get a little sentimental.

Weddings have a way of bringing the best emotions right to the surface for everyone, so there’s a chance your friends might recall a memory or two they’re fond of as the day draws closer. In looking back with them at all the times you’ve laughed and cried, see if there are pieces of nostalgia that might serve as a pleasant reminder of the past seasons you’ve spent together: perhaps pastries from a favorite bakery you both frequented in college or concert tickets to the band you couldn’t stop listening to as teenagers.

Photography by Thecablookfotolab | Bridesmaids’ Dresses by Watters

10. Spend some time together, one-on-one.

While it might seem like one more thing on your ever-growing list of to-dos, spending some quality time with those you’ve asked to stand beside you before the wedding day festivities commence will most definitely do more harm than good. Individually connecting with each of your bridesmaids shows that, while the celebration is important, the people that are celebrating with you matter the most. Emphasize experiences over material things as your way of expressing your gratitude–and catch up with your best girls while you’re at it!

When Risha and Sebastian first began planning their wedding they knew they wanted to create an atmosphere of warmth, joy, elegance and fun against an awe-inspiring, luxurious Mediterranean backdrop. Hatzi Mansion Mansion embodied the sophistication, allure and poetic finesse that they knew would house this dream wedding. Together with the Mansion’s lead event manager Evgenia Limantzaki, the couple forged the wedding of their dreams filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories that will be cherished forever by all who attended.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Risha and Sebastian’s love story began nearly a decade before their wedding day. The two met right out of college in Risha’s home state of California, and after a year of long distance, Risha relocated to join Sebastian in Europe. From their very first date on a Santa Cruz beach to the years that followed exploring Europe, watching sunsets became a staple of their life together. So, it was only natural that Sebastian proposed to Risha at sunset during their summer vacation in Santorini, Greece in 2021. Not only did Sebastian time the proposal impeccably with the sun sinking into the Aegean sea, but he also recreated the picnic of strawberries, cheese, chocolate and wine from their first date – only this time the view was much grander and the love that had blossomed between them exceptionally deeper.

The lavish, buffet-style dinner was a true highlight of the evening, taking guests on an unforgettable culinary experience of organic local and international cuisine hand-picked by the couple. Hatzi Mansion provided an array of food and drink options, including housemade lemonade, a variety of aperitifs to suit everyone’s taste, and a selection of sweet and savory treats. All fresh ingredients came from the venue’s organic gardens, and the food was cooked in a traditional wood fire oven. Everything was expertly prepared and served by the venue’s talented staff to ensure all guests were well taken care of. Pizza from the venue’s traditional wood pizza oven was prepared live for guests as a midnight snack, and signature cocktails were served by award-winning bartenders.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A symphony of color adorned every corner of the space. Delicate shades of pink with hints of lavender and vivid peach and gold hues in the flower arrangements embodied the essence of a summer sunset. Roses were selected as the predominant flower, honoring the flower’s title as the symbol of love and the last name of the couple. These were enriched with hydrangeas, lisianthus, wisteria, buttercups, as well as seasonal foliage. The floral arrangements were expertly crafted and placed, bringing a warm glow to the venue and adding to the overall charm of the day. The sweetheart table was a boasting, vibrant masterpiece, covered in lavish blooms and accented with blue fabric drapery and tall, slender candles. Beneath the pergola by the dance floor and lounge area, elegant, white flowers and twinkling fairy lights captivated guests all night with their enchanting brilliance. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The four-tiered cake provided by the reception venue was a true work of art. Coupled with dazzling sparklers that erupted during the cake cutting, the whole affair was a spectacular surprise and was only made sweeter by the dessert that followed – a mouth-watering medley of passion fruit, lemon, white chocolate and vanilla wedding cake.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

It was important to the bride and groom that every detail of their wedding ceremony be non-traditional and unique to them. They achieved this by having the friend who had originally introduced them officiate the wedding and by creating an emotional musical soundtrack narrative to complement their self-written ceremony script. The groom and groomsmen danced into the upbeat Fire and Flame by Kip Moore, followed by the bridesmaids, who calmed the crowd with a cover of Stand By Me by Skylar Grey. The bride embraced her emotional grand entrance by entering alone under a shower of rose petals to the song World Before You by Lauren Duski. In addition to the vows made by the bride and groom to one another, the couple also incorporated a “community vow” into their readings, which requested the everlasting love and support of their attending loved ones. The ceremony concluded with the joyous song Can You Feel It by Birgir. The couple entered their reception to I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do by ABBA and danced their first dance to Poetry by Wrabel.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]To make the wedding weekend extra special for their guests who had traveled from across the world to celebrate with them in Greece, the bride and groom prepared welcome bags for their 60 guests. Upon each guest’s arrival at the hotel, Risha and Sebastian made a point to personally welcome them and gift them a beach bag filled with beach and party essentials – turkish beach towels, mastiha (a traditional Greek digestive from the island of Chios), electrolyte stamina recovery packs, mints, candies, water, and a personalized welcome note.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As a dancer, the bride knew she needed a little extra sparkle once the party got started, so she changed into a dazzling mini Milla cocktail dress after the first dance. In this glitzy and glamorous, sequin-covered number, she danced her heart out all night with her new husband, family and friends.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple’s first dance was self-choreographed by the bride to reflect their love story. The groom, who had never been considered a dancer, surprised the crowd with his impressive frame and natural rhythm. Their first dance was sweet, romantic, and elegant. [/field]

A Whimsical Affair at the Bride’s Childhood Home by the Water

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The bride had two colors in mind when dreaming of her wedding. Purple and green. The couple agreed they wanted to pull color inspiration from nature, specifically from the waterfront. But purple was the color the bride wanted to see scattered through the day. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple exchanged vows and celebrated at the brides childhood home on the water. We knew we wanted to bring in natural and nautical elements, along with the ONE request from the groom. He wanted his favorite flower throughout the tent, white roses. They allowed for me to have full design control, as long as we brought in those few elements, so we had a lot of fun! The intimate ceremony was nestled along the shoreline, where we let nature sing and brought in very little design elements. The string quartet and simple rose petal aisle helped pull in the romantic feeling.

Guests were ushered about 20 feet from the ceremony for cocktail hour. There is a long coast line with a beach and pier along the back of the house. We wanted guests to take advantage of not only the waterfront, but beautiful wrap around porch. There was a signature bar in front of the pier with both the bride and grooms favorite cocktails. There was a circle bar in the middle of the yard, and large boat with beer. We had a cigar roller on the porch and an entire boat with nothing but oysters.

When guests were ushered into the tent, they were greeted with an on site watercolor artist creating a masterpiece for the couples home. There was a large square bar with a large floral chandelier over the dance floor. The sailcloth tent was draped in greenery, which was a beautiful contract to the hardwood floor that was custom made for our couple.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride, Julianna:

It was my birthday, October 21st. When I arrived home from work, I was kind surprised that the entire house was cleaned and candle burning. Yes, Curtis does clean, but this wasn’t his typically “straighten” up cleaning. We went out to dinner at Charleston. When we got back from dinner, he gave me my birthday gift, which I cannot remember what it was. Then when I told him I was ready to go to bed, due to work the next morning, he said he had another gift. He went upstairs to get it and when he came back down to the living room, he told me to close my eyes while sitting on the couch. Then he bent down on one knee, which our dog, Archie, didn’t like and therefore almost knocked him over by trying to jump on him. He told me to open my eyes and when I did, he had the ring box opened and asked me to marry him. My first response to him was, “Is this a joke?” After he said no, he said, “Let me try this again” and asked me, “Would you marry me?” When I realized this wasn’t a joke, I replied, “YES!”[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Maryland themed food was very important for this Maryland wedding. All passed appetizers were Maryland and seafood themed. But the three course meal that was all of our couples favorite food! Guests enjoyed surf and turf while listening to classic music and toasts from the bridal party. As guests were exiting for the evening, another favorite treat from the bride and groom was waiting…a mexican food truck with custom made tacos the couple requested!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were very important. We had to compete with mother nature, and their yard was nothing short of magnificent. We decided to let the ceremony and cocktail hour speak for themselves. The entire floral budget went towards turning the tent into a masterpiece that rivaled the view right outside. The entire ceiling was draped with greenery. A 7ft round chandelier with florals and greenery hung over the dance floor. We had three different table sizes and centerpieces. We brought in our grooms favorite flowers on the length of the 8 rectangle farm tables. Nothing but white roses, candles a floral printed runner cascaded down the center. On the 4 round farm tables surrounding the perimeter held lush and very large compotes with white florals, but mostly roses of course. The smaller round tables in the center of the floor plan all had large green tall centerpieces to bring in a bit of height. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was simple, but delicious! The most important part was the small Corgi statue as an ode to their sweet pup. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]It was very important for the couple to have a watercolor of the brides parents house throughout the wedding. The calligrapher brought it through the invitation and then again through the escort card. The invitation also had a letterpress of the creek where they house is located on. Everything we intentional and special. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]This brides bouquet has been one of my favorite of all time. Maya from Bee Inspired had 100% creative direction and created a one of a kind purple bouquet![/field]

A Chic Celebration At Chicago Illuminating Company

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Chicago Illuminating Company is so beautiful on its own, and the outdoor space had such an awesome garden and greenery, so the couple wanted to keep colors simple but elegant. Their palette was mostly white and green with hints of pink and purple.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Kristi and Kevin’s vision was to keep things timeless and classic so they could look back at their wedding in 50 years and still love everything about it. Great food and music, excellent style, martinis (their favorite drink), and lots of fun dancing were their “must haves”.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Kristi and Kevin adopted a puppy in May of 2022. A few months later, Kevin surprised her with an end-of-summer private photoshoot for the 3 of them! During the shoot, they both took individual photos with Winston, and after a few pictures, while it was Kristi’s turn to hold Winston, she turned around, and that’s when she saw Kevin down on one knee!

This Vineyard Wedding Is Understated Elegance at It’s Best

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We went very neutral with the color palette; light shades of blush, sage and various whites. I wanted the design to fit seamlessly with the venue, as if everything we brought in was meant to be there. We focused a lot on texture and everything ended up feeling very organic. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We wanted something that felt like us, from the menu to the design it was meant to feel like what you would experience if you came to our house for dinner. The vibe was light and airy, but warm and romantic at the same time. I really wanted something outdoors with trees and Greengate was the dream setting, more perfect than we could have ever imagined. In a lot of ways, the venue was the main design detail, we just tried to accentuate that.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]My parents have been going wine tasting in Paso Robles for years; when I moved to California I started going with them and when I met Kevin he started coming as well. One Saturday in November 2020, we took our dog and went to Paso on our own to do a little tasting and attend a winery event. He proposed in a park at sunset after frantically trying to find “a pretty place to walk the dog”; I thought he was crazy, until he pulled out the ring. Easiest yes of my life.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]My dream menu from Field to Table, so many people said it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had. Family style Tri-tip, mashed potatoes, roasted chicken and risotto. My parents sourced wine from some of our favorite wineries in Paso Robles, and Copper & Crystal poured signature cocktails. Kevin’s signature cocktail was named for California while mine was named for Alaska, representing where we’re both from. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Blooms by Morgan; Morgan created the most stunning floral arrangements, I cried when she brought me my bouquet. My only floral requirement was greenery and peonies, and she brought that and so much more. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The Wooden Spoon made a delicious Lemon cake with vanilla buttercream for the cake cutting and then we had an assorted dessert bar. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]One of Kevin’s brothers, Matt, was our officiant. He knows us both so well and crafted the most beautiful ceremony. The right amount of funny, sweet, serious and inspirational. Both sets of parents stood during the ceremony and spoke of their love and blessings for our marriage. It was all set in the most beautiful and serene setting, surrounded by trees and water.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Our dog, Alma was included in all the festivities, she had her own floral collar, walked down the aisle with our officiant and entered the reception with us during the grand entrance. She was a perfect angel the whole day. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]We took dance lessons for our first dance, and it was so fun to wow all of our guests with our choreography.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Our wedding day was on the 6 year anniversary of our first date, so it all felt very full circle. Plus now we only have to remember one date!

From Planner Sarah: “Designing Stephanie & Kevin’s day was an honor and a joy! As a fellow wedding vendor, Stephanie had long dreamed of her wedding day and soon after meeting Kevin knew it wasn’t a question of “if” they were going to get married but “when.” Being a part of the Theoni Collection team, Stephanie’s design vision was clear and in keeping with her personal classic & timeless aesthetic. It was so fun to walk through selecting tabletop items & furnishings from her own collection, and she left the rest to us! Stephanie dreamed of a major lighting moment for her reception, and welcoming guests into the dancing area with fun chandeliers & tons of twinkle made for such a fun addition to an entirely romantic design.

As a nod to her family’s wood business in Alaska, we layered in many wood elements from the furnishings to the floral compotes. Stephanie & Kevin enjoyed a night celebrating under the stars & (many) lights and soaked in each moment surrounded by their favorite people!”[/field]

I saw a photo gown in December 2022 (the day we booked the Grand Resort Lagonissi!) and was instantly in love. A shop here in Hong Kong carried this design. I tried on the dress in the sample size (which did not fit!) but both my mother and I knew there was nothing else. The most efficient bridal gown shopping in history. The second dress was to honor tradition from my Chinese background. A red qipao is traditional and signifies love, wealth and happiness. I wore that at dinner to cheers every table and say thank you for celebrating our special night. I had a third dress too! Our wedding reception was a mouth-watering spread of creamy cheeses, crisp salads bursting with Greek herbs, succulent seafood (lobster, anyone?), live roast, pasta making station and a meat-lover’s paradise. We did not neglect the midnight snacks – we kept it simple but oh-so-tasty, with plenty of desserts, mango sherbet, and a generous helping of chocolate to keep the party going strong. To quench the thirst of sweet-toothed, fruity, bitter, and licorice lovers, we had Negroni (Mezcal or Regular), while Old Fashioned was the top choice of Ryan, my heart’s VIP. And since feeling the heat is a given when partying, the Spicy Paloma, with its zingy flavor, was ready to zing our guests’ taste buds. We made things easy for everyone with an open bar that had all-time favorites like Campari, Martinis, Vodka, and Gin so that everyone could have their poison of choice and bliss out.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Wedding bells mean floral spells, right? Our wedding style and floral dial called for elegant pastels with David Austin and English garden roses, just like our moms love. We wanted our wedding to smell like a sophisticated dream, and boy did it! We asked our florist for a rectangular arbor with sheer drapes, symbolizing our solid bond and the breezy adventures we’ll be taking together. The aisle was a blooming beauty, and my bridal bouquet was a showstopper. I chose Duchesse de Nemours peonies which are a very old and extremely pretty kind, and Festiva Maxima peonies, bursting with frills and crimson flecks. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We opted for a simple white cake adorned with fresh flowers. We wanted to stick to tradition and slice a piece, but our main focus was to spoil our guests with various flavors. Retro Hawaii Wedding with Punchy Sunset Hues

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were natural greenery, pale peach, apricot, coral, marigold, and turmeric.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Katlin and Gabe hosted a destination wedding at Maui’s Olowalu Plantation House, inspired by the essence of vintage Hawaii. Bright and whimsical hues of coral, marigold, turmeric, and apricot were the color story of the day. The ceremony took place along the coast of the Pacific Ocean underneath a horseshoe-shaped chuppah adorned in wildflowers. Guests dined at oak tables dressed in ceramic vases with floral-focused arrangements of garden blooms and wildflowers in shades of coral, marigold, turmeric, and apricot. Mid-century flatware was a nod to vintage Hawaii. The signage was inspired by 1970s Vogue magazine covers- bright, tropical, and playful—design words: carefree, elevated, bespoke, fashionable, wildflower, celebratory, eco-friendly.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]They both went to NYU but ended up meeting they were both studying abroad in
Paris! “We always knew that we liked each other, and dated for a bit when we came back from Paris, but unfortunately Gabe had to leave NYC for law school. We reconnected when he came back 3 years later and have been together ever since!”

They got engaged in an old barn converted into a fine dining restaurant in Kennebunkport, Maine. It was perfect – surrounded by good food and drinks, antique furniture, and a pianist playing 50s music!

“We were definitely friends first, couple second! We love that we fell in love with each other’s personalities. We also love to play video games together (Katlin can’t really play so she explores and when the bad guys come, Gabe has to kill them
– this is their preferred way to play!). They also both love American football and Gabe knew she was the one when she recommended a player that ultimately won him his fantasy league their first year of dating.”[/field]

Oceanfront Maui Wedding With Terracotta Details Inspired By Italy

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Blush, nude, taupe, muted copper, terracotta, orange, marigold, and butter yellow with foliage.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Playing off of the couple’s Italian roots, we designed with the Amalfi Coast in mind: Cle tiles were shipped in from Italy to be used as place cards, a lemon tree was made in the center of a 16′ round wooden bar, citrus and yellow accents, a traditional millefoglie cake and tropical lanterns, a fire dancer and bamboo chairs to remind the guests that they were on Maui. The overall feel of the wedding had a subtle nod to Italy with a dreamy floral sensibility using garden blooms in shades of blush, nude, taupe, muted copper, terra-cotta, orange, marigold and butter yellow in aged terra-cotta urns. Whimsical linens were mix matched atop round and long dining tables throughout the oceanfront lawn, surrounding the wooden dance floor. The groom Paul is a huge Motley Cru fan, attending over 30 concerts of theirs in his life, it seemed appropriate to have the string duo write a special arrangement of Home Sweet Home for their ceremony. The couple said their vows at a stunning floral arch of all yellow blooms. The bride wore Monique Lhuillier.

The ceremony was marked by a stunning mono-bloom arch of sunshine-yellow blooms. The aisle contained natural garden blooms in clusters at the base of the chairs, appearing as if growing in nature. The bride carried a sweet bouquet of earthy-hued blooms: ranunculus, tulips, roses, and sweet peas. The reception on the oceanfront lawn featured a mix of round and long dining tables with whimsical patterned linens. Aged terra-cotta urns held floral-focused arrangements of garden blooms in shades of nude, ivory, blush, honey, cinnamon, and apricot hues. Natural-hued candles sat in glass hurricanes atop terra-cotta plates. Cle tiles with calligraphy names were the place cards, a nod to Italy. The round wooden bar was marked by a stunning lemon tree in the center with baskets.

Inspired Fall Romance At 620 Loft and Garden

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The jumping-off point for designing this day started with thinking about the regality of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which was crafted in the 1800’s and inspired by European architecture. The goal was to blend modern-day New York with an old-world architectural style and bring some nods to the season. This day was curated by planner and designer, Britt Jones Co., and captured by Yuliya Jul.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were plum, mauve, and soft pink.

[field title=”The Venue”]

When an iconic rooftop garden meets a moody fall palette, we are introduced to this tasteful, autumnal wedding inspiration in New York City. 620 LOFT AND GARDEN serves some of the best views in Manhattan and is the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding in the city.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

Both the ceremony and reception gowns worn were Viktor and Rolf. The ceremony gown had a more sleek satin look to it but had the most wow-factor moment with the train and bow back. The reception gown was a tiered tulle dress with the most beautiful high neckline. This dress was so beautifully crafted, and it actually reminded the vendor team of a chandelier. Little do you know, there are actually hand-drawn chandeliers on the invite suite to tie the whole look together.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Rather than choosing blatant fall colors like red, orange, and yellow, the design team of Britt Jones Co. and Nava Floral went for a more intentional approach, bringing in plums, mauves, and soft pinks. The softer, subtle colors created a romantic, autumnal garden look on this one-of-a-kind rooftop. Real plums were added to the reception table to offset the softer-colored pink linens.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]The vintage frames for the seating chart added a touch of old world romance to the modern setting of the day. The gold guiding of the frames elegantly accented the fall themed florals.
The team designed an extra welcome bag and invitation suite to rehearsal dinner. Including gift bag items from the iconic Ralph’s Coffee really tied the theme of an NYC wedding for the modern and fashion forward couple. [/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]To pull off a chic and modern look for our bride, the team had to be mindful of the hairstyles and accessories. Statement piece earrings by Nicola Bathie were just a perfect touch to a sleek updo by Alison Farfan. The ceremony dress with its volumous a-line skirt needed a softer hair do, so the hair fell into loose curls to create sweet romantic look. [/field]
