French Garden-Inspired Celebrations With An Intimate Guest List

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were lavender, baby blue, and peach.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We never dreamed of having a big wedding. Instead, we were drawn to the intimacy of a small elopement, where we could celebrate our love and friendship with our closest friends over the course of a few days. With a guest list of just twelve of our best friends, we wanted our wedding to be as much about them as it was about us, and needed to find a fabulous venue to match. What we found in our Provencal Villa was more than we could have hoped for. The house was a beautiful treasure box set amongst the most vibrant and lush gardens. It was a perfect mix of cozy and opulence, and frankly, we didn’t need to do much to make this place look and feel special. The design, then, became about allowing its natural beauty to shine. We kept the florals and tablescape simple, opting for lavender and peach hues that mimicked the surrounding gardens of Provence.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We got engaged within six months of dating; as cliché as it sounds when you know, you know. A month into dating, Stephen tore his Achilles, and our whirlwind romantic courtship abruptly came to an end, but what came out of it was even better. With a torn Achilles and limited mobility, I decided to move in with Stephen to help him heal. We became very close, and our bond grew very deep very quickly. A few weeks later, he contacted Material Good to start designing my engagement ring. Six months after that, he proposed in our home in Rhinebeck, NY, and while I wasn’t shocked, I was completely surprised!

I wanted the dress to be elegant and timeless. I had been looking for a while, and nothing felt quite right. A bit dejected, I wondered if I would ever find what I was looking for. My best friend, however, was convinced she had found the one for me. She booked an appointment for me at Sarah Seven, and with an admitted bit of skepticism, I agreed to go. But I guess best friends really do know best because I fell in love with the Agatha gown the moment I laid eyes on her. She was feminine without being frilly, structured yet flowy, sexy yet classic. She was perfect!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I gave my bridesmaids very little direction. Any color and style was fine with me, I just wanted them to be in sequins! I loved the juxtaposition of this very small intimate affair, with these over the top party dresses![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The men were asked to wear black tie. I believe nothing looks as sharp and debonair as a man in a tuxedo. It also just felt appropriate for the venue. [/field]

Dinner was provided by the talented Chef Djellab Youcef, who prepared a masterful 3-course meal consisting of a seasonal avocado tartare starter, followed by a line-caught sea bass appetizer, and then a cooked filet of beef for the main. The sweet finale was our red velvet cake, of course!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We wanted to pay homage to the surroundings, so we kept all the details very Provencal. Opting for heavy white linens, and lavender florals. We wanted it to feel as if the florals could have been plucked from the gardens themselves. I also love the romance of a burning tapered candle in the moonlight, so our table was filled with these. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

I had a heart-shaped cake saved on my Pinterest board for YEARS, and Les délices de Gladys was able to bring this dream into a reality, complete with fresh cherries (red velvet flavor, of course!).

A Cheery Cabo San Lucas Wedding With Playful Pops Of Pink

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

A beautiful pop of pinks and greenery.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride wanted a farm-to -able feel but with lots of bright colors. She wanted it to feel very organic – wanting to honor the property and everything it stood for. The bride had a vision in her head – she wanted it to feel old-world. She was originally looking at venues in Italy and fell in love with Flora Farms for the centerpiece “mission-style barn”. That created a lot of her color inspiration, wanting to bring in lots of bright-colored flowers for the surrounding flower farms and fresh fruit for the adjacent vegetable gardens.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Their engagement unfolded almost a year after their initial online “match,” as Brett orchestrated a heartwarming surprise for Jessica. Flying home unexpectedly on Christmas Day, he knelt down and proposed. The couple swiftly delved into wedding planning, opting for a destination wedding to curate an intimate affair.

Recognizing the significance of the occasion, Jessica and Brett sought to create more than just an event—they aimed for a transformative week-long experience. The allure of a destination wedding was not only in its scenic backdrop but also in the opportunity to gather all their cherished guests for a collective vacation.[/field]

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]I would say the most special and intimate moment was at our first look where I was able to surprise Brett with his gift. I knew I wanted to honor Brett’s mom on the day of our wedding, she passed when Brett was 12 years old from breast cancer. With the help of Brett’s sister, I was able to get an excerpt from her journal, where she wrote “Please remember how much I love you. – Mom” I was able to find someone who hand stitched the writing onto a patch, where his sister then took pieces of lace from the mom’s wedding dress and stitched them on the patch. I was able to then give that to Brett at our first look – where it had an adhesive to place on the inside of his jacket, so he could have a piece of his mom on his wedding day. This is a moment that whenever I think back to it I can’t help but cry. I never got to meet Brett’s mom but I do know the son she raised and how tender his heart is. This is a moment that Brett and I will never forget.[/field]

I fell in love with Pina Cate Design‘s work when I started doing some research for florists in the Los Cabos area. I think she went above and beyond to execute my vision – I found a candle vendor out of Oaxaca, Mexico, and knew I needed them for my special day. They were like an art piece on each table, and I really think I tied everything together. The vendor was so amazing in helping me achieve the exact “vintage blue” I had in mind. They sent me over four samples of blue until we landed on the right one! The vendor Bells And Whistles Designs did custom maracas for each of my guests that I was able to have at each place setting as their “name tag.” It was such a fun addition, bringing in some local culture.

An Utterly Romantic Hawaii Destination Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were creams, white, light blue, and an accent of soft peach.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From the bride Zoe: essentially we sprinkled in a lot of details from our favorite video games and movies. We both loved Pokémon, Nintendo games (Legend of Zelda, Mario games, etc.) when we were growing up and that was a big part of our bonding when we first became friends in high school, and certain games, movies, and shows continue to be a big part of our shared life now, so we wanted to weave this in fun ways. So we hid plastic Pokémon and Totoro figurines throughout the flower arrangements (which of course the kids at the wedding found within moments and took, hahaha, and guests took some home too, which was so fun). Then we included a bunch of songs at cocktail hour that were references to our favorite games and animated films. For the seating chart, we chose locations from animated films and games, and then placed people at the tables who we thought would be most likely to guess the location or reminded us of that film or game in some way. The couple was from Texas and they hired their planner Stefanie from there as well. Zoe wants to make sure Stefanie gets a shout out because she was the reason it all happened the way it did, and she really went above and beyond to make the event so fantastic. Stef worked with Hawaii’s top wedding/floral designer Debbie on the overall design. She made a trip to the island about 6 months before the wedding to visit with the rental company and attend tastings. Stefanie said: At the end of the day Zoe and Dan just wanted a day to spend with their family. The entire trip was all about family (and the friends that might as well be family) and spending time with the people who meant the most to them. He wanted mountains, she wanted the beach, and we landed on Hawaii as the destination and Kualoa Ranch on a mountain, overlooking the beach. But beyond that, the most important thing to them was making sure it felt like a gathering of family. Hence the family-style tables, family-style food, etc. Design-wise, she was inspired by alot of photos from Debbie’s company, and so we pieced those together to make it reflect the color scheme we picked for her and the vibe of the day.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride Zoe: Way back in 2007, I went on a family vacation with Dan’s family to the island of Kauai. We hiked the Alakai Swamp Trail, which I really loved at the time. The hike ends in a beautiful lookout over Hanalei Bay, which is a place Dan has spent a lot of time over the years. A little over ten years later, in 2018, Dan took me back to that hike on a surprise trip to Hawaii in December, just the two of us. When we reached the lookout, the clouds cleared, and we happened to have the place entirety to ourselves; and that’s when he proposed![/field]

Zoe + Dan wanted food that was not only Hawai’i inspired, but also made from local ingredients where possible. It was important to them that they felt like their wedding was benefiting the local growers in the area. And that’s exactly what we found for them in Ke Nui Kitchen. Ke Nui took their desires seriously and not only made sure that the flavors were locally inspired, but that they sourced the items from the local community. The menu detailed which farms they gathered ingredients from.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The following details are provided by their florist Designs by Hemingway: Inspirations: Lush/ Romantic/ Botanical Theme : European/ Tropical Flowers: roses, hydrangeas, larkspur, lisianthus, phalaenopsis & dendrobium orchids Ceremony: we designed a lush blooming aisle of carnations appearing to grow from the ground, The lush garden aisle created a grand entrance for the bride leading up the a beautiful ceremony arch overlooking Chinaman’s hat in the Pacific ocean on the windward side of the island of Oahu . The aisle was designed ombre style with colors blending from a soft peachy blush fancy carnations at the aisle entry to feathered fancy white carnations at the altar. Bridal bouquet white garden roses, peonies , tweedia , stock and delphinium Reception – Dining Cabanas the head table dining cabanas were designed with a lush overhead floral installation of white orchids & botanical foliages and vines dripping over the tables. Reception – Centerpieces all the centerpieces were designed in ceramic white compote vases with lush blooms of white garden roses, lisianthus, stock, tulips, ranunculus , light blue hydrangeas and delphinium.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

from their planner Stefanie: While I was attending tastings for catering, I also tasted at many different bakers. The bakery we settled on was Cake Works and they were the perfect balance of a moist cake without it being too sweet. Just like with dinner, they wanted the flavors to be familiar, but still new for their guests. We settled on layers of Strawberry Guava, Lilikoi Butter and Pistachio. Additionally, they had Ke Nui Kitchen provide small bites from their onsite bakery. Those consisted of Cream Cheese Brownie Squares, Poi Doughnut Holes, Butter Mochi Bites, Pineapple Upside-down Shooters, and Lilikoi Cheesecake Squares. Guests were sure to find something that they loved from this spread!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Ceremony music: “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys

Groom & family walking down the aisle; “Only Time” on cello by Enya

Bride walking down the aisle: and “Itsumo Nando Demo” ( いつも何度でも) from Spirited Away

Reception music: For our dances, the bride and groom’s first dance was “Digital Love” by Daft Punk; I then danced to “And She Was” by the Talking Heads with my parents; and Dan danced to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole with his mom. For the cocktail hour music, we did various string quartet adaptations of music from our favorite video games and certain movies — songs from Miyazaki films like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Kiki’s Delivery Service; the Pokémon theme song; “Dire Dire Docks” from Mario 64; and “Outset Island” from Legend of Zelda Windwaker.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Zoe had a dream of having a Contra Dance Lesson during their wedding reception. By definition, a contra dance event is a social dance that one can attend without a partner. Think circles of people weaving in and out of each other, potentially pairing up with partners, etc. They were hesitant because they weren’t sure guests would be into it. But it was a dream and we were going to make it happen! We partnered with Christian from Honolulu Studio and he came out for a dance lesson like none of us had EVER seen at a wedding before. While we used traditional-style music for the lesson itself, when it was time to perform, we switched over to modern familiar songs, so guests could see how the beats were the same, even if the instruments were different. There was so much laughing. So much merriment. I think for many it was among the highlights of the evening. It got guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor in a structured way that was new to everyone! So everyone started at square one and learned together. It truly was one of the best things I’ve ever seen at a wedding in my 15 years as a planner.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

We arrived in Hawai’i a few days before guests. This gave us time to meet with vendors one last time, but also to build out their Welcome Bags. We had tote bags printed with the silhouette of the Hawaiian islands on them and filled them with the following goodies: 1- Letter from the Couple 2- Sunblock Sticks 3- Turkish Beach Towels 4- Hawaiian Postcards 5- Assorted Hawaiian Snacks (drinks, snacks, etc.) 6- Honolulu Cookie Company Treat 7- Local Hawaiian Coffee

Simplistic Elegance at Meadows at Mossy Creek

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

While the overall palette was clean and all floral done in whites, we incorporated earth tones into the wedding party attire and linen. The Bridesmaids each wear a beautiful taupe dress, and the Bridesmen in matching sandy colored suits. We also snuck in subtle blue into their details, signage, cake, and outdoor linen selections!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Wedding Style and Design for this event can be described as modern and minimalist. We strived to achieve a clean design aesthetic that was modern, bold, and wow-worthy. The Couple had a family member design their Save the Date in a custom toile print, so we leaned into this as an accent pattern incorporating those same design elements into their cocktail table linens (provided by I DO Linens) and paper goods (bar signage). Haley and Peter’s vision for the day was for it to be a blend of documentary moments with guidance and direction but a low-pressure feel. They really preferred the more candid moments and desired to have this of them as a couple and of guests. They wanted the photography experience to be very organic, with some posed setups throughout the day, but balanced well. Haley loves artistic images with a modern touch, a mixture of B&W, and capturing the feeling of the moment. Drawing her inspiration from Vogue weddings. Which was perfect because that is exactly how I approach and how I document a wedding day. For the feel of the photos they wanted. Sophisticated, elegant, vogue aesthetic/vibes, simplistic yet modern, whimsical, timeless but playful and unique touches. To bring out the party vibe for the reception, bold/dramatic lighting and flash. One of their favorite poses was holding hands and walking towards me. Haley looks at the camera with a soft smile, and Peter looks over at Haley.

Guests enjoyed southern-inspired passed appetizers of Fried Green Tomatoes with Jalapeno aioli, Cajun Shrimp and Grits shooters, and Georgia Peach Bruschettas with Feta and Balsamic. The main, plated entree for guests included an herb-crusted beef tenderloin with gouda mashed potatoes, honey-roasted carrots, and petite green beans. Guests also had the option to enjoy vidalia onion glazed chicken in addition to the beef, which was served family style to each table as a second entree option. Such a fun and innovative dinner service! Keeping with the Georgia flavors, the dessert comprised of a warm peach cobbler with fresh whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Lush white florals set the scene for a sophisticated yet romantic feel for the day. Stylish Stems (Blosm) flawlessly executed the design with tons of white florals and tapered candles all in clear glass and white ceramic vessels. The ceremony included a circular arch with a gorgeous asymmetrical floral arrangement framing out the couple and several low floral arrangements lining the aisles. Several of the aisle arrangements were repurposed inside on round guest tables while other guests were seated at wooden farm tables filled with single-stem roses in bud vases, leaning into that modern, minimalist design.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

A clean, white cake adorned with handmade sugar flowers and a subtle yet eye-catching outline of a blue ruffled edge played into the overall design aesthetic for the day. Modern and Romantic by Bisoux Bakery.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

It would come as no surprise that a couple as dreamy as Zue and Nico, would have a wedding that looked like a dream. The Event Company made sure of that, by creating an absolutely ethereal and romantic vibe, to match this couple’s energy! Getting married in front of a breathtaking pastel floral arch by Pavlos the Flower Workshop, overlooking the Aegean Sea, is undoubtedly a dream come true! Enjoy the beautiful details at the full gallery captured by Elias Kordelakos, Zue and Nico really wanted the calmness and tranquility of their love to be expressed through the elements of the decoration. From the preparations to the reception party, all those details were carefully curated by The Event Company and the result speaks for itself! Thistle cards did an exceptional work at capturing the elegance of Zue & Nico on their stationery items.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

It all started on a warm summer day in June 2014. Zue, a sweet 21-year-old at the time, was already sitting at her desk, eagerly awaiting the start of the internship program at Citi. Suddenly, a tall, handsome German guy called Nico came into the room and sat down right next to her. Zue couldn’t believe how lucky she was and wanted to say “hi” to him, but before she could even open her mouth, he took out a large 1.5L bottle of Diet Coke and put it right in front of her. “Dude, are you okay?” she asked him. Nico was confused – “Why would such a cute girl ask if I’m okay?” he thought, and politely responded with a “Yes, I’m great, I just don’t like water!” Zue clearly knew how to break the ice, and from that day, both of them became good friends, and the chemistry was visible to everyone around them. One year later, in the fall of 2015, the inevitable happened – Zue and Nico fell madly in love with each other. With a 2-year COVID delay, Nico finally popped the question in June 2021, 7 years after they first met, and now both can’t wait to celebrate their love for each other with their loved ones!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

There was a pastel pink, blue, and purple ceremony arch, white hanging decoration, and pastel centerpieces by Pavlos the Flower Workshop.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

It was a 3 Tier “Flowerfetti” Wedding cake, and gold leaf details. Flavors: Vanilla Raspberries, Chocolate Mousse & Hazelnut Praline by Pavlov’s Lab.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The beautiful couple danced their first dance as a married couple to the song “No Ordinary” by the Labyrinth, as they felt that their love was compared to no other! They went for dance lessons with Captiv8 dance to choreograph a routine for them. It was a very fun pre-wedding activity. The Father/daughter dance was You’ll Be in My Heart by Phil Collins. This song from the Disney show, Tarzan which Zue watched growing up, gave a very sweet sentimental feeling to this moment.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

For this fall wedding, a big and beautiful transparent tent was constructed by Tentstyle, and guests were romantically gathered under fairy lights, which made the scenery completely magical! Loud and clear, they made the room feel like a fairytale, and once the party started, they switched the mood to classy nightclub energy! When you plan a wedding, each creative proposal you make is inspired by the bride’s and the groom’s personalities and dynamics. WhileThe Event Company team was getting to know Zue & Nico during the planning process, they couldn’t miss the “unconditional love” vibes that were coming from them.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Every little detail had to be “All About Romance”, because Zue & Nico were as in love the day of their wedding, as they were the day we met! Their happiness, joy, and positive energy completely projects on this incredible and colorful Wedding Cake by Pavlov’s Lab.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Needless to mention that tears streamed down everyone’s faces when the speeches about their love were made. But Zue & Nico knew how to cheer their guests back up, with an impressive champagne popping an amazing choreography for their first dance – almost professional I should say, that ended with a movie-like “true love’s kiss”![/field]

A Summer Yacht Club Wedding Where Preppy Pattern Play Meets Classic Style

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]
A. Dominick did a fabulous job bringing all these bright colors and bold patterns together. Kelley wanted lots of bright pinks, fun patterns, and water toned blues to reflect the water view. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kelley, the bride, loves color and pattern! Each little detail in her design was inspired by her own aesthetic and the beautiful Gibson Island Club. The linens from Furbish Studio are tablecloths that the bride and her family use in their home entertaining and the stars in the tent are light figures our bride has in her home. Aimee Dominick, the planner, loved getting to play with patterns and colors to create a bright and fun day, perfect for the happy couple! They danced under a beautiful tent from Loane Brothers and guests loved beautiful Escort Card Wall by Brightly Ever After.

Gibson Island has always been a special place for Kelley since she grew up going there in the summer with her family. Her grandparents started the tradition of renting a home on the island and the family and her cousins would all spend the majority of the summer there. Fast forward to her adult life and Gibson Island is about an hour from DC where Chris and Kelley met. She took him to GIC one summer and he too fell I love with it. While Chris and Kelley kept an open mind in the wedding venue search process, they kept going back to GIC as a place that now meant something to both of us. So it was perfect!

Kelely loved mixing color and bold prints to create a busy and fun vibe. She didn’t want it to be like every other wedding, and this vision definitely made it stand out. She also wanted to make it seem like one big dinner party. Elevated, but not too stuffy. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From Kelley:

I had a girls holiday brunch on a Saturday and Chris had randomly asked me to get a mid to late afternoon drink at Officina at the Wharf in DC, which was where we had our first date. It was an unseasonably warm Saturday in December so we sat on the roof. When I arrived, we caught up on our day and then Chris left to take a call. When he came back, I started blabbing a story about who knows what and he “lunged at me” and got down on one knee and the rest is history. After the proposal, we hung out on the rooftop and walked around the wharf before calling our families to share the news. Then, we went to dinner just the two of us at a restaurant downtown and had what was one of the best meals of our lives. [/field]

The lemons in the tall floral arrangements was a perfect finishing touch. Some of the ginger jars actually belongs to Kelley’s parents (some purchased too).[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake had sugar flowers that reflected the florals that Sophie Felts used. A. Dominick placed the cake so that the guests would see Kelley and Chris cutting the cake with the bay in the background, which was simply beautiful. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The officiant is bride’s godfather and dad’s best friend [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The getting ready matching PJs were from Printfresh.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From Kelley:

Welcome frame for guests to sign: my dad and I started a burgee collection a few years ago and it’s grown quite a bit. Chris and I have since carried on this tradition at our home. Instead of a welcome book, I thought it would be fun/different/sentimental to have our wedding logo on a burgee and have guests sign a matte around the burgee that we could ultimately frame. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From Kelley: Invitations/prints: some of the patterns were pulled from favorite fabrics and wallpaper. My mom is a very creative person, so I’ve grown up around fabric samples and fun prints, which served as inspiration. One of my favorite places in the world is The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs West Virginia, which was decorated by Carlton Varney who is famous for his bold use of color and mixing of prints. He also designed The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach and The Grand Hotel in Michigan. I tried to mimic some of this in our designs, especially the paper materials. (Funny fact: the squiggly line print was literally adapted from curtains in my parents’ den in my childhood home). [/field]

Destination Wedding in Stockholm, Sweden That Weaved Elegance into Every Detail

Surrounded by bridesmaids from Harvard and high school and a best man who has been a constant companion, Martina, and Matt emphasized the importance of including people from all walks of their lives.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Martina and Matt’s love story is one of shared adventures and deep connection. They have traveled together, exploring the vibrant streets of India and skiing in the Austrian Alps, proving that their love transcends continents.

Their North London home is not just a haven for the two of them, but also a gathering place for their friends and family. They enjoy hosting dinner parties in their jungle-like garden, and their love for each other extends to a warmth that envelops those around them. They also have their favorite local spots, like a quaint bakery and charming pubs for Sunday roasts, which add a touch of familiarity to their globe-trotting lifestyle.

Their journey began with a chance encounter on a dating app—a virtual spark that ignited a connection leading to shared coffee dates and eventually, a lifetime commitment. The proposal, a blend of sentiment and humor, unfolded on the anniversary of their first date, with a necklace as a down payment on an engagement ring, hidden under macaroons.

But amidst all the excitement, their most cherished moments involve simply being together on the sofa, sharing laughter over TV shows or engaging in friendly backgammon matches. Martina admires Matt’s caring nature and his ability to encourage her to step out of her comfort zone. Matt, in turn, values Martina’s infectious laughter, openness, and kindness. Their love, seasoned with humor, has weathered life’s ups and downs over six years. [/field]

An Intimate Wedding at Borgo Bastia Creti With an All Black Dress Code

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]As the evening unfolds, imagine a long table draped in pristine white linen, highlighted by the opulence of gold accents and glass candelabras. Every detail, from the floral arrangements to the gold touches, creates a symphony of colors, blending the purity of white with the richness of green and gold. This intimate wedding promises a feast for the senses, where flowers and colors intertwine to paint a picture of romance and sophistication that will be etched in memory.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After seven years of dating, our proposal story highlights exactly how much better Devyn knows me than I know myself. He faced quite a challenge. It was so important to me to have the perfect engagement ring and a thoughtful proposal, but also, that I also wanted the ring and everything else to be a complete surprise. He spent months hunting for the exact diamond, designing the setting, and then organizing the big moment. On that fateful day, I thought we were going to see a play at our favorite local theater. He had recently encouraged me into a handful of frivolous dress and high-heel purchases and now this would be the perfect night to dress up. As we neared the theater and began to pass our favorite coffee shop–a picturesque boutique with gazebo seating right on the lake–I suggested we make a quick caffeine stop to which he graciously complied. It was here that I got to say the easiest yes of my life! He booked a photographer who took the most beautiful shots of the moment. After oodles of photos here, we headed over to the beach for some golden hour pictures of some of the biggest smiles you’ve ever seen. The night ended with dinner at my favorite restaurant where he surprised me with our families, my best friends, and even my sisters who flew in from another state. Every detail was so carefully and thoughtfully curated; I am so blessed to be loved by such a man.[/field]

You’d Never Know Tornado Warnings Were Issued Right Before This Cape Cod Wedding!

Every Question You Need To Ask Your Wedding Videographer

If you’re anything like us, you have a serious weakness for beautiful wedding films. (And like us, you may even low-key weep over your laptop every time you watch one). Nothing captures the emotion of a wedding day quite like a fine art film, and you will love reliving yours—and sharing it with your family– for years to come. But when it comes time to inquire with a videographer, how do you even know which questions to ask? We’ve got you covered, with every question you need to ask your videographer, and insights from some of the industry’s finest filmmakers! Start imagining the slow-motion video intro of your dreams NOW…

Photography: Sandra Fazzino

1.  “Why is video so important?”

We can’t emphasize it enough: as time passes, your wedding video will become more and more meaningful. Little keepsakes can bring back wedding memories, but there is nothing quite as emotional—quite as transporting—as video. When you meet with your videographer, ask them to explain why their art form is so important, and why you will treasure your video for years to come. Hopefully, you will receive an explanation as beautiful and compelling as this from Lindsay of NST Pictures:

“Prioritize video, rather than adding it on as an afterthought. Why? Photos, your video, your dress and a copy of your invites to frame are usually the only tangible items left after your wedding. A video is the only item that will bring back the feeling and atmosphere of your wedding day because it immerses your senses with the moving imagery, the sounds and the spoken words of the day. Videography is an investment in your family’s history, so make sure you budget for it and book it early in your planning process.”

2.  “What should I budget for videography?”

Before you meet with your videographer, pricing may be the biggest unknown. As with any fine art wedding service, it takes a little education to fully understand pricing for videography, so don’t be too shy to ask your vendor about their approach. According to Lindsay of NST Pictures, “Your video budget should be roughly the same as your photo budget. We often see couples with half the budget or less left for video because they feel it’s less important than photos. We understand that, but it does take the same amount of work as photography: coordination of details before the wedding, two experienced videographers running around for 8-10 hours, top-of-the-line equipment and hours of editing your final films and footage.”

What’s absolutely essential to keep in mind, explains Lindsay, is that “video is a long-term investment” and pricing should reflect this. “When you’re looking at the prices,” she continues, “remind yourself that you will be keeping this forever: longer than your car, longer than that expensive leather couch and maybe even longer than the house you buy with your spouse. A few thousand dollars might seem like a lot right now, but with every year that passes, your film will be worth more than gold.” Above all, understand that your vendor has taken great care to create perfectly precise packages. “Package prices aren’t arbitrary numbers,” reiterates Lindsay; “The cost is directly related to experience, equipment, time and what you take home when you’re wedding is over. You get what you pay for.”

3.    “What sets your work apart?”

According to Julie of Elysium Productions, the number one question she wishes brides and grooms would ask is “what makes you stand out from other studios?” This question is so great because it gives your videographer the space to articulate her process and style, to speak with freedom and discuss her philosophy. In a sea of beautiful options, you want to know what makes your videographer unique—and if her work has that intangible ‘something’ you’re looking for. Look for any electricity—any spark, any connection you feel to your videographer’s words and work. While “couples should look for quality of picture and sound,”says Chris of Zen Film Works, the most important thing is “if the films wow them or move them emotionally.”  If you feel that indescribable, magnetic pull, then you’ll know you are “onto a winner.”

4.    “I’d love to hear more about your career path! Can you tell me more about your wedding experience?”

When meeting with any videographer, you’ll want to assess whether they have the ability to create the wedding film of your dreams. Ask questions about how long the videographer has been in the industry and how many weddings they’ve done. Pay attention to whether they respond to your questions with tangible examples from their portfolio. This kind of deep experience and skill set will make all the difference, and will give you complete confidence in your investment. “Experience is key,” agrees Lindsay of NST Pictures. “You will keep your wedding video for the rest of your life so you want to look for a company that has a great track record. Read reviews, look for awards and see if they have any notable past clients.” Be mindful also that with this rich experience comes a (justifiably) higher price tag.

Photography: Anya Kernes Photography

5.    “Do you have any experience with companies outside of the wedding space?”

Lindsay of NST Pictures has some fascinating thoughts on how experience outside of the wedding space can enliven and enhance wedding work. “Artists need to keep themselves inspired and inspiration can come from many places,” explains Lindsay. “Consider a videographer or company that also does work outside of weddings because they will have a well-rounded perspective on filming and can bring those creative experiences from their other projects into your wedding video.” This kind of experience has given the artist’s wedding work an entirely new layer, a refreshing perspective. “For example,” explains Lindsay, “a videographer who has worked for National Geographic may be more likely to notice and capture a butterfly landing on a flower before your ceremony begins, which can add a beautiful element to the start of your wedding film.”

Photography: Simply Sarah Photography

6.    “Can you describe your aesthetic?”

It’s so important to approach your videographer for what they are—an artist—and be curious and engaged about their aesthetic and artistic approach. You may notice that your favorite fashion designers have a totally distinct aesthetic—you can spot a Dolce & Gabbana floral print, or a Chanel tweed jacket on first glance—and you will want to sense something distinct and exciting about your videographer’s work as well. Allow them the freedom to explain their approach, to talk about what lights them up, and see if you resonate with their words. We asked our experts to define their aesthetic—and we hope you get an equally compelling answer when you ask your videographer the same question!

From Lindsay of NST Pictures: “We make classic, cinematic-style films that incorporate the natural audio of the day and added music for atmosphere and emotion. For us that means no filters or overtly stylistic editing, which keeps the focus on the couple and the physical and emotional beauty of the day. We believe the focus of your film should be your wedding and you two–not us.”

From Chris of Zen Film Works: “I stand out amongst the rest because I don’t copy other filmmakers. I stand by my style. My approach to a wedding film is to create a timeless film that focuses on delivering emotion and the energy of the day. This is delivered in a very cinematic way with inspiration from the great directors of the cinema world.”

And from Julie of Elysium Productions: “Our style is very authentic yet cinematic. We shoot in a photojournalistic style and it’s more about complementing the client’s photos by focusing on the action of the day (not the posed stuff). Our clients want to see the event as they remember it: an AMAZING party with some incredible romantic moments. Most of all, they want to see themselves—and their event– represented accurately. Our couples are typically down-to-earth and want the attention focused more on their family and friends (and the fun) than themselves. In the edit, we focus on the in-between moments as much as the scheduled ‘events’ while editing to the beat of the music and weaving in amazing personal soundbites. But that’s OUR client… every studio’s clientele, and thus, their style, is different!”

7.   “Why should I hire two videographers vs. one?”

When meeting with clients for the first time, Lindsay of NST Pictures lists this as one of the questions she wishes her couples would ask. She emphasizes how absolutely vital it is to hire two videographers and describes how this translates into an interesting, multi-layered story.  “During a wedding, there are many little events that sometimes happen simultaneously,” states Lindsay. “For instance, most couples are not getting ready in the same location. You photo session might take place during your cocktail hour. With only one videographer, you will have to choose what is more important to cover. Two videographers can also capture simultaneous reactions, like when the bride walks down the aisle and the groom is tearing up on the other end when he sees her for the first time. During speeches, we can capture the speaker and the couple laughing.” Hiring two photographers will ensure that every little nuance—every loving glance, every tender moment—is captured, and that words spoken in vows and toasts are met with a beautiful, complementary image. This way, you will get such a full, dynamic narrative— the story of your wedding day, only a little more artful.

Photography: Sally Pinera

8.    “What do videographers do during photo session? We have the photographer then, so can the videographers take a break?”

Lindsay also formulated this question, and has a great explanation for curious brides and grooms. “We cover photo session right alongside your photographer to get the most beautiful shots of the day. We capture the moving moments, between photos, and sprinkle them throughout your wedding film to add beauty throughout. We need this footage to weave the story so that when your sister talks about how well your spouse takes care of you during her speech, we can cut from her speaking to a shot of your spouse putting his or her arm around you while the two of you walk down the sun-soaked beach.” Again, it’s all about creating as much beautiful content as possible, so that your story can be told in a number of ways—each fascinating, nuanced, and considered.

9.   “Can I pick any song I want?”

This was one of our burning questions—and thanks to Lindsay of NST Pictures, we’ve finally got the low- down on wedding video music!

“Legally, all videographers are required to use licensed music–even for personal wedding films. Sorry, John Mayer fans!” explains Lindsay. She goes on to explain the necessity of using licensed music, adding, “Some videographers don’t [use licensed music], which leaves their businesses and their couples at risk of being fined and even sued! Fortunately, the library of licensed music is vast, with hundreds of thousands of songs in many different genres. You can even license mainstream music from Lady Gaga and Bob Dylan. Protect yourself and ask your videographer if they purchase licensed music.”

It can be so helpful to allow the editor to make music selections, as they’ll be mindful of the overall narrative you’re creating. “We love it when couples allow the editor to choose the music because the editor can set the tone for the film based on the couple’s personality and style, while keeping their music genre preferences in mind,” says Lindsay; “For example, a slow, romantic, cinematic song could be perfect for a snowy, castle wedding, while a couple getting married outside a barn with a boho lace dress might be better paired with an upbeat folky jam.”

Photography: Sandra Fazzino

10.  “As the couple, what can we do to make our video great?”

Also suggested by Lindsay, this question is incredible, because it will help you understand your role in helping your videographer create gorgeous content. Lindsay emphasizes how important couples are to the overall process, explaining, “It takes planning, great shooting, precise editing and an artistic eye to craft the perfect wedding video, but not even the most skilled videographer can inject emotion into the footage like you can. Gush your heart out in a letter! Be present when you tell your spouse that you will love him or her as long as you both shall live! Get wild on the dance floor with your friends! The more you enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime celebration of love, the more you’ll cherish reliving it through your wedding video.”

Photography: Tatyana Chaiko and Vicky Lamburn

11.  “Is it important to capture prep?”

In a word, YES! “Footage of getting ready in the morning will be some of your favorite moments to watch later,” muses Lindsay of NST Pictures. “You might think the ceremony and dance floor are the main attractions, but how often do you get to have all of your best friends in one place relaxing and hanging out? You’re young, beautiful and getting ready for the event of a lifetime! You’ll be sharing stories and laughing hysterically. Plus, there’s usually at least one emotional moment as your mom helps you into your dress or your dad sees you as a bride for the first time.”

Photography: The Cablook Fotolab

12.  “What does a typical wedding day look like for you?”

When it comes to the wedding day timeline, “I am asked mostly about how intrusive I will be on the day,” states Chris of Zen Film Works. “And my answer is always, blending in is my forte and you will never feel like you are on a film shoot. It’s a wedding first, not a film or photo shoot.” Because her studio focuses more on action over posed events, says Julie of Elysium Productions, the actual timeline isn’t a huge concern. The main thing couples should keep in mind, notes Julie, is “the time it takes to set up and break down gear. A photographer can have everything on their body and move quickly,” she explains, but videographers often need to “be set up ahead of time in order to capture events properly. Not to mention, it takes time to break the equipment down and move it!”

Lindsay of NST Pictures, meanwhile, stresses that time is one of the greatest gifts you can give your videographer. “Time is a luxury. The more you have, the more beautiful moments and tangible details we can capture and sprinkle throughout your film. Allowing us to capture prep helps us build anticipation. Glasses are clinking, girls are giggling and the champagne is flowing. Everyone is excited! During photo session, carve out a little time for your videographers. With more time, we can film you walking into the sunset from afar, but we also have time to get some close up emotional details, like the way she squeezes your hand or the way your ring sparkles in the sunlight.”

Just remember that those magical, serendipitous moments—and especially that glowing, golden hour light—requires some prior planning and cooperation with your videographer. “Hazy golden rays and pink sunsets have to be planned for so talk to us about your wedding day timeline,” encourages Lindsay. “That way, you’ll be outside during the best hours of the day to create the most magical scenes.” Schedule everything in advance so you are prepared to catch the magic.

Photography: Rebecca Yale

13.  “How can I plan my day to help you capture the best content?”

It’s so important to let your videographers know that you respect their artistry, and that you want to position them to capture the best footage. “I think my couples need to understand the amount of time it takes to make a beautiful film, from pre- production and post- production to the extra time needed on the day,” states Chris of Zen Film Works. “It’s something that needs to be considered when planning the timing of the day.” Collaborate on the timeline, and ask what your videographer needs on event day to create and capture the most beautiful content possible.

Photography: Imaj Gallery

14.  “What is your turnaround time like?”

It’s so essential to ask about delivery time upfront, so that you don’t place undue pressure—or feel unnecessary anxiety—as your videographer creates your stunning, personalized film. Chris of Zen Film Works underscores how important time is to the creative process, saying, “I usually explain this in my first call with [clients].  I tell them that to create something beautiful and with intent, it can’t be rushed. A rushed piece will drop in quality and emotional quotient.” Lindsay of NST Pictures agrees: “Creating a work of art takes time,” she stresses. “We want to give your film our undivided attention so please be patient with us. We know you’re excited so we are doing our best to get it to you ASAP without compromising quality. You’re going to love it–we promise!” If you want your video quickly, be prepared to spend a little extra to compensate your videographer for the quick turnaround time. “We also offer the option to expedite your film delivery for an additional fee that can be added to any package,” says Lindsay. “The fee covers the editor’s overtime to get your film to you ASAP!”

If you want to give your guests an incredible, interactive experience and “you’re dying to see your video ASAP, consider a same-day edit,” encourages Lindsay. “Your videographer will film everything up to your cocktail hour and deliver the footage to an on-site editor who will edit your film in time to show it off to guests at your reception!”

And for a little extra celebrity inspiration, check out the gorgeous, same-day edit by Le Rêve Films for Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, and the couple’s tearful reaction here!

15.  “Do we have chemistry?”

This is a question you should ask yourself. For some clients, it’s ok to have a purely professional admiration for a vendor, but for others, it’s all about chemistry. Chris of Zen Film Works insists that chemistry is “ incredibly important. Great energy creates great films.”

16.  “I’m not sure if I’ve asked all the ‘best’ questions… what am I missing?”

When it comes time to meet with a wedding videographer–or any new vendor– it’s so natural to feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s stationery, florals, or videography, this may be the first time you’re encountering this medium, and everything is new. Hopefully, after reading this article, you’ll feel much more confident and prepared, but don’t worry if you still have some lingering uncertainty! Julie of Elysium Productions insists that it’s totally normal for clients to feel this way; most of the time, she says, “clients don’t know what to ask because they’ve never done this before. It’s only through education that they truly ingest what we do and questions come from there.” Once you’ve had some one-on-one time with your videographer, we promise, the floodgates will open. Julie marvels at how quickly her clients catch on, adding that “once our clients hear more about our process, they inevitably ask some GREAT questions like how music is chosen, delivery time, how many people are there on the [wedding] day, etc.” In meetings and initial inquiry stages, let your videographer take the lead; they are there to guide you and illuminate their process.

Photography: Simply Sarah Photography

17.  “Tell me again—what are some of the exciting things I have to look forward to? Why am I going to love this video forever?”

We can’t help ending the article the way we began—by emphasizing how completely grateful you will be to have your wedding video, your own deeply personal work of art. We hope by the end of your meeting, all of your questions will be answered, and you’ll feel thrilled for creative process that awaits you. Allow yourself to be totally excited about the videography process.  “Having a wedding video is NEVER a regret for couples. I wish they realized this before the wedding!” enthuses Julie of Elysium Productions—and we couldn’t agree more.

A Fairmont Banff Springs Destination Wedding Amidst Majestic Mountains

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Creating a color palette that merges neutral tones with dusty blue and touches of gold can evoke a timeless, elegant aesthetic. In crafting Stephanie and Ryan’s dream wedding amidst the picturesque beauty of Fairmont Banff Springs, we sought to weave a color narrative that echoed both sophistication and a touch of ethereal charm. The chosen palette drew inspiration from nature’s seamless blend of tranquility and grandeur. The canvas for this celebration was laid with a foundation of soft, neutral tones—subtle ivories, creamy whites, and delicate beiges. These hues formed the backdrop against which the breathtaking mountain landscape would come alive, symbolizing the purity and timelessness of their love. To infuse a touch of serenity and depth, we embraced dusty blue as the principal color. This enchanting shade cascaded through the ceremony and reception, adorning the setting with its calming yet captivating essence. From delicate ribbons fluttering in the mountain breeze to the gentle hue gracing the floral arrangements, dusty blue added a sense of tranquility and romance. Gold accents served as the luminescent threads weaving through the fabric of the celebration. These opulent touches, whether in the form of glistening table settings, intricately designed stationery, or subtle metallic accents in the décor, lent an air of regal sophistication. The interplay of gold against the neutral backdrop and the serene dusty blue exuded an aura of refined elegance, elevating every detail of the day. The harmonious union of these colors created a visual symphony—a delicate balance between timeless neutrals, the serene allure of dusty blue, and the opulent accents of gold. This palette encapsulated not just a color scheme but an embodiment of Stephanie and Ryan’s journey—a blend of their individual personalities merging into a seamless harmony. With this carefully curated palette, the wedding day became a canvas where love, nature, and elegance converged, painting an unforgettable picture against the majestic backdrop of the Canadian Rockies.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Stephanie and Ryan’s celebration exuded an aura of timeless romance—a sensation that transcends eras and embraces the everlasting essence of love. The air was imbued with an ethereal charm, where every moment felt suspended in a dreamlike state, allowing love to take center stage amidst the majestic peaks of the Canadian Rockies. The design ethos encapsulated an understated elegance, where simplicity spoke volumes. Delicate lace, flowing fabrics, and graceful floral arrangements adorned the venue, evoking a sense of refined sophistication. The design elements harmonized effortlessly, allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to meld seamlessly with the decor, creating an enchanting ambiance. The vision for this celebration was rooted in a dreamy serenity that enveloped every aspect of the day. Soft, billowing fabrics swayed in the mountain breeze while gentle hues of dusty blue and neutral tones painted a canvas of tranquility. The setting embodied an otherworldly charm, as if time itself paused to witness the union of two souls amidst the grandeur of nature. Guests were greeted by an atmosphere of ethereal elegance—a world where flickering candlelight danced amidst the shadows of towering mountains, where laughter mingled with the whispers of the wind. The ambiance spoke of whispered promises and unspoken emotions, creating an intimate space where love’s tender embrace echoed through every corner. In its entirety, the wedding echoed a timeless love story—a tale woven with threads of romance, elegance, and an ethereal dreaminess. It was a celebration where moments lingered, where glances held volumes, and where the embrace of the mountains bore witness to a love that transcends time itself.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

It was a day seemingly like any other, or so Stephanie thought. Ryan had orchestrated an elaborate ruse, ingeniously concealing his grand plan within the guise of attending his sister’s engagement party. Little did Stephanie know that this event held a surprise that would forever change their lives. With anticipation in the air, Stephanie and Ryan arrived at the designated venue, where close friends and family had gathered under the pretense of celebrating a momentous occasion. As they stepped into the gathering, the room was abuzz with excitement and merriment, masking the hidden secret waiting to unfold. As the evening progressed, amidst the laughter and conversations, an air of anticipation built. Suddenly, in a moment that felt suspended in time, Ryan’s demeanor shifted. Amidst the gathered loved ones, he took Stephanie’s hand, his gaze locked on hers, filled with unwavering love and determination. In that heart-stopping moment, surrounded by those they held dear, Ryan dropped to one knee. Time seemed to slow as he professed his love, expressing his deepest feelings with heartfelt words that echoed the sentiments of their shared journey. With quivering excitement and joy sparkling in her eyes, Stephanie felt her heart leap as Ryan presented a ring—a symbol of their enduring love and commitment. As tears welled in her eyes, she nodded, her answer a resounding “yes.” The room erupted in jubilation as friends and family cheered, enveloping the newly engaged couple in a warm embrace, their hearts brimming with happiness. What began as a guise to attend a family gathering unfolded into a moment of pure love and commitment. For Stephanie and Ryan, that day marked not just the promise of forever but a testament to the depth of their love and the cherished support of their loved ones.

A Fairytale Wedding at Belmond Hotel Caruso With an Escort Display You’ll Want to Steal!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Shades of pink and peach[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Lots of love and a few drops of limoncello spritz: that’s the recipe for the enchanting wedding of Marissa and Chris, who got married in Ravello, in the heart of southern Italy.
Nestled in the embrace of the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea, this sea-view garden wedding at the Belmond Hotel Caruso is full of Mediterranean magic, rivers of Prosecco and joyous celebrations under the sun.

This fairytale wedding in shades of pink and peach is a vision brought to life by the exceptional Amalfi Soirée team, blossomed in the skilled hands of Rosalinda Wedding Flowers and captured with flair and talent by analog photographer Sergio Sorrentino and videographer Diego Perrini.

Marissa and Chris’ dream was to offer a totally immersive destination experience for their guests, to give them a taste of Italy’s famous hospitality. The couple’s casual yet lavish style is what guided every decision in the planning stages, from the bride’s personally crafted invitations to the choice of menu.

The ceremony was held at sunset, to enjoy the romantic view of the sea and mountains while tinged with pastel colors, celebrated by the couple’s closest friends.[/field]

Small accents of Amalfi-inspired décor dotted the long imperial table, such as the custom patterned tablecloth by Set Up My Table and the romantic mise en place by G&G Party Service.

The menu included sea bass marinated in citrus from the Amalfi Coast with celery salad and annurca apple, Mezzi Paccheri alla Ravello with three cherry tomatoes, and Beef fillet gratin in red wine sauce with potato millefeuille.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A lush deconstructed floral arch filled the scene and flower bushes, with stems of different lengths and colors, appeared as if they had just bloomed down the aisle.

A Blissful Peach-Toned Wedding Soiree Unfolds At Dillingham Ranch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were peach, blush, rose, and white.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride wanted an elegant outdoor affair that matched her sexy, fun, and flirty style—the wedding weekend started with an intimate rehearsal dinner at Merriman’s in Honolulu, Hawai’i. The bride called it “Berriman’s at Merriman’s.” Guests were asked to wear all white, while the couple incorporated their “something blue” into their fashion. The day of the grand celebration had timeless touches with European florals in blush, corals, and peach to compliment the lush green surroundings of their historic venue, Dillingham Ranch, located on the north side of O’ahu island. The day was full of sunshine with the half-arch ceremony seating, elevated lounges, and one long dinner table surrounded by royal palms. The bride aimed for a classic design with just a little bit of extra touch! The citrus and candle vibes added a spring/summery experience for her guests.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Hannah and Caleb met during the fall semester at The University of Texas at Austin in 2019. After a failed attempt by Caleb and his friends to go to a frat party and Hannah being tired of the party and wanting to go to sleep, fate brought them together on the streets of West Campus. Caleb couldn’t take his eyes off Hannah the rest of the evening and asked her to dinner only two days later. But he couldn’t wait that long to see her. They had their first official date the next day. Hannah and Caleb were inseparable for the next two weeks. Before boarding the plane from Hobart, Caleb was told, “Don’t you dare fall in love over there”. It took approximately 9 days for him to break that promise. The following five months were filled with learning, love, and excitement as they took on college life together. Caleb extended his study abroad (no pun intended) to stay another semester. Hannah shared everything about Texas, her family, and her faith with Caleb. On May 31st, 2020, they were separated due to the pandemic. Not knowing when they would be reunited, they promised that they would get back to each other no matter what or where. And 566 days later, they did it. Determination, trust, and daily FaceTime calls kept them going. Hannah and Caleb were finally reunited on December 17th, 2021. Caleb proposed to Hannah the very next day. He decided the 360 Bridge from their third date was the perfect spot. After being watched only by a carefully placed iPhone camera, he got down on one knee at sunset, and Hannah said yes. The ring was engraved with their phrase, “No matter what, no matter where.” While Hannah thought they were going to Chuy’s for a date afterward, little did she know they were going to be celebrating with family and friends. It was the perfect way to celebrate their love and reunion!

Hannah chose her designer from where Caleb was from, Australia. Made With Love – Unique Bridal Collection is known for their romantic details and flowing fabrics that would fit perfectly with an outdoor tropical wedding.

Due to Hawaii’s warm, humid weather, Caleb opted for a light tan linen suit that would compliment all the other blush & peach tones of the surroundings while still letting him stand out from all the green landscapes.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]They both had a signature cocktail that represented their favorites—starting with Her Cosmopolitan and His Margarita. Also, as guests arrived, they were asked to sign a special bottle of wine that the couple would enjoy on their anniversaries. Dinner was served family-style, with local favorites adding to the intimate feel of the event.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The bride was very hands-on with design and collaborated with Belle De Jour Floral Design to re-create the tones of a Hawaiian Sunset in the florals. She wanted a classic aesthetics to go with the lush surroundings of Dillingham Ranch. She opted for a more European floral choice to complement the tropical setting. Long white ranch tables from Aloha Artisans created the intimate setting for dinner. Adorned with blush fabrics, pink silk napkins and fresh citrus were paired with the floral centerpieces and a cozy plush couch for the couple’s seating. Gold-rimmed china and silverware finished this stunning tablescape, each lovingly labeled with the guest’s name on dried citrus.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake was designed to be very minimalistic to complement the surrounding florals on the French silk-covered table. Giving the whole design a lush flower meadow vibe. Fresh florals of blush, corals, and white surrounded the cake.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple read their vows privately before the ceremony to have an intimate moment and write each other love letters that were read during their getting ready moments. During their first dance, they swayed to the song “Texas Sun” by Leon Bridges, giving homage to the bride’s home state. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Bridal details include the bride’s mother handing over a gift box as she was putting on her earrings. She sat down and opened the box to see a hand-made robe fashioned with lace from her mother’s wedding dress. Her grandmother had hand-sewn the lace onto a pink silk robe for her future life as a wife. In addition, while Hannah was waiting before the ceremony, her aunt and grandmother came in to ensure she walked down the aisle with a significant gift. Her mother and aunt were very close to her Aunt Ruby, who passed away in 2019. Aunt Ruby gifted my aunt a lace handkerchief that my aunt had walked down the aisle in 2014, and now she has given Hannah the lace addition to her bouquet. She was now the proud, 3rd generation bride of her Great Aunt Ruby’s handkerchief.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Hannah’s sweet grandmother, better known to everyone as Grammie, came into the bridal suite with a “something blue.” She opened a cute little box to find a white lace handkerchief with a letter from her grammie written in blue script. Hannah and her grammie both cried (which they used the handkerchief for). This handkerchief was sat at Hannah’s place at the dinner table so she could continue to wipe her tears throughout the celebration.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The Japanese Akoya pearl necklace around Hannah’s neck was her wedding gift from Caleb. He bought the pearls from their local Tasmanian jeweler, Jai Hay, who also hand-made their wedding bands. Caleb’s gift from Hannah was an engraved bronze Tag Heuer Autavia watch. The vintage style matched Caleb’s personality and perfectly matched his wedding suit. One of the sweetest details from the wedding day is the hand-written postcards to every one of their guests. They thought about how special it was to have their friends and family fly to Hawaii to celebrate them, so they wanted them to know how much they appreciated their presence.
