Colorful Spring Bridal Session

Spring, is that you? It’s me Michelle, and I’ve been patiently waiting for you to arrive. Because honestly, I’m more than ready to bid adieu to snowflakes in favor of sunshine. So, until you’ve decided to show up at my doorstep I’ll be seeking temporary solace in this gorge of a gallery from Natalie Bray Photography. And you? Well you’re more than welcome to join. Get ready to spend the day in The Vault!

From Natalie Bray PhotographyWith Spring approaching, we thought a colorful, feminine, and light filled bridal session sounded incredibly refreshing. Spring is a favorite season for many and this bridal session abounds with light, love, and femininity. Planning a wedding, engagement, or bridal session around your favorite time of year can be a wonderful jumping off point for inspiration. We used nature to inspire this shoot & kept it simple and feminine.

Plenty of Petals masterfully created a stunning bridal bouquet that you just want to live in forever. Impeccably crafted nature inspired luxury. The colors of bright pink peonies, orange dahlias, and yellow garden roses, with soft mauve, and blush harmonize perfectly. A wonderful way to add pops of color to any wedding, bridal, or engagement session is to add florals.

The Sarah Seven gown from The Dress Theory San Diego added a feminine romance with it’s lace sleeves and deep v back. The sweeping train added an element of levity. Absolutely gorgeous!
Hair & Make-up were kept simple with an element of natural and clean. The bride’s features were already swoon worthy, so we wanted to bring those out simply.

We wanted the hair to be easily converted to a second look. Which is great for transitioning from a ceremony, then to reception. The Hair and Make-up box did this marvelously. A sun kissed up-do, that easily transitioned to a cascading look with romantic curls.

From Ryan Flynn PhotographyErica & Chris met a decade ago on Erica’s first day working at Costco. They soon became best friends, spent many weekends together and began dating. Their daughter, Claire, was born a year before the wedding and was such a special part of their wedding day, along with their beloved dog Walter Jones. Chris proposed to Erica at Marymoor Park where they had their first date four years before. It was only fitting that they had their “first look” and couple portraits done there too. Erica wore a beautiful wedding gown by Australian designer, Anna Campbell. The even took the extra lace from Erica’s dress to make a headband for baby Claire complete with her glittery Stuart Weitzman shoes. Covered in reclaimed wood, coral peonies and lush greenery, Sodo Park was transformed into a woodland wonder.

Outdoor Loving Duo Says “I Do” in the Rocky Mountains

Saying “I do” for this outdoor loving duo was simple – an intimate affair in the Rockies that happened to include an entire weekend of bike riding and hiking.  Think rustic meets romantic, complete with lush blooms from Soul Flower, a stunning WTOO gown and the world’s most breathtaking scenery.  See it all captured beautifully by Amanda Watson Photographers in THE VAULT.

From Amanda Watson Photographers… Stephanie and Tyler love the great outdoors. Tyler proposed in a hot air balloon even! So they were naturally drawn to the beautiful Rocky Mountains as the backdrop for their nuptials. Biking, hiking and white water rafting set the tone for the days leading up to the ‘big’ day where the sun shone and they said their “I do’s” in front of their closest friends and family.

The maids wore their own hand-picked mix matched gowns that blended perfectly with their florals which the bride instructed the florist to design ‘as if I had picked wildflowers from the fields’ and the men wore cool gray suits like the color of the beautiful mountain in the background.

This mountain both served as a backdrop for their ceremony but also had personal meaning to the bride. This is the same mountain John Denver based his iconic song “Rocky Mountain High” and is a favorite of the Father of the Bride.

It was a calm, peaceful and fun filled day as Stephanie and Tyler pledged their lives to one another and we were honored to document such a special time!

Traditional Irish Wedding with a Custom Wedding Dress

Saint Patrick’s Day has come and gone, but you can thank the luck of the Irish for bringing you this beautiful Irish wedding today. From the beautiful Bride’s custom-designed wedding dress to the gorgeous Powerscourt House setting, Naomi and Mark’s traditional wedding is the kind of pretty you can only dream about. And thanks to photos from Ann-Kathrin Koch, you can get lost in it all in The Vault!

From Ann-Kathrin Koch“These two are next” Glynis said to me with a barely noticeable nod in the direction of Naomi and Mark cuddled up close. She has a knowing smile on her face and adds: “They are good together.” That was three years ago at Daniel and Emily’s wedding. Daniel is Mark’s brother and Glynis is Mark’s mother.

Fast forward to earlier last year and it’s Glynis again who gets in touch, telling me how Naomi and Mark got engaged and how they’ll get married this year and if possible, how they’d all love to have me there as the photographer again. This may seem odd at first but not if you know the Good family – they are truly fabulous people. You often hear that the Irish are the nicest people in the world. Having photographed these two weddings with all Irish people I have to agree! Coming back to Ireland and walking into a house full of people I knew felt a little bit like sinking into a warm, soft pillow. Exhale and relax and take it all in.

What followed was a most wonderful church ceremony at Crinken Church, a drinks reception in the almost-sunny but still quite blustery afternoon with a view over Powerscourt Gardens and a reception at Powerscourt House. There was so much warmth and happiness around us, so much laughter and joy that I can only agree with what Glynis said to me two years ago: Naomi and Mark, they are good together.

From The Bride…What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?
I originally wanted an outdoor wedding, but with Ireland being the Climate it is I knew I couldn’t rely on a dry let alone tepid day! The main reason for an outdoor wedding was to be in nature, loads of green leaves, trees and garden flowers. I’ve always loved flowers, so I wanted to bring the outdoors inside and try have as many flowers as possible!

What was your color palette and your style vision?
Pretty pale and soft natural colours was my palette. My favourite flowers our peonies and tea roses so soft pinks and peaches with a dusty green was the vision I wanted.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?
It was definitely a family effort! Thankfully my mother in law and sister in law share a passion for flowers and DIY, and were an amazing help! Glynis up-cycled old wine boxes which turned into window arrangements, Emily and I used hula hoops to make large wall wreaths and even my grandmother in law got involved making all the jam jar flower arrangements!

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite crafted detail?
I loved our table runners..it really brought my vision of an indoor/outdoor feel to life. At the end of the night they could be separated and taken away as individual flower favours for our guests to enjoy!

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, your photographer etc.
Our Photographer Ann-Kathrin was amazing, she has such an unique eye for detail! She had already done my Sister in Law Emily’s Wedding, so I knew she was the perfect fit and would capture the day beautifully. We couldn’t have been happier with our photos.

My gown was made by DaPaor Designs, a tailor in Wicklow called Gay who could not have been more helpful and easy to work with. Being an artist I knew exactly what I wanted, so it was tricky to find a ready made dress that ticked all my boxes. I knew I wanted something beaded but not sparkly and Gay understood my vision perfectly, making my dream dress a reality. I couldn’t have love my dress more!

Our cake was made by Caroline Goulding, a teacher I had worked with who had done wedding cakes on the side! I am delighted but not surprised to hear her business has really taken off. She presented the cake exactly as I imagined. I had seen ‘naked cakes’ on Pinterest and loved the rustic look of them. Fresh fruit, cream, sponge..doesn’t get much more summery and yummy then that!

Our favours were a fun novelty item! We got our faces put on M&M’s, put them in small jam jars and used them as a place name setters. I still can’t bring myself to eat mine!

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
Planning a Wedding doesn’t have to be stressful. We did ours in six months, and if your flexible and organized it can be really fun! Pinterest is amazing but can double your budget lol! Get people involved and make fun DIY days out of it! :)

From the Bride… We were high school acquaintances turned into college dating and then reconnected years later by the help of a good friend. To us, it was meant to be that we ended up together at the right time in our lives. From the beginning of the wedding planning process we knew we wanted to have a wedding in October since fall is our favorite time of year. We wanted our wedding to have a relaxed feel but the style to be rustic and elegant. After searching for the right venue, we decided on Wilson Creek Winery, nestled in the rolling hills and lush vineyards of Temecula. Our ceremony took place in the middle of the vineyard, where we and our guests were driven to a beautiful, unique private sight in the center of the grape vines. The natural beauty and rustic structure gave us the intimate ceremony we wanted.

Our wedding decor was unique and special to us because my Mother handmade all of our wedding signs and decorations on her own. My mother is the most creative person we know, so we enlisted her help with making the rustic signage. She deconstructed shipping pallets, then stained and created all of the hand painted signs. She also hand painted 150 custom wood place cards for each guest at the reception. The custom wood place cards were a long and tedious task, but they turned out amazing and were a great memento that our guests loved.

The floral arrangements that Flower Allie made for us were exquisite! We wanted to create a soft, romantic theme with the florals so we used Juliet garden roses, cafe ole dahlias, silver dollar eucalyptus, hypericum berries, ranunculus, dusty millers and succulents.

There were so many special moments of our wedding day but one of my favorite memories was when I saw Randy at the end of the aisle tearing up when he saw me walking in. My heart could have beat right out of my chest! Everyone watched, yet we felt like we were the only two people there.

My husband, Randy, is a USC Alumni and huge fan along with his brother and his Dad. I give Randy so much credit for letting us plan our special day on one of the biggest USC games of the year! From the matching USC cufflinks that Randy gave to his father and brother (which they all wore!) to the humorous speeches mentioning the game, the USC game was definitely a recurring theme throughout the night.

As we look back we can’t help but think how incredibly blessed we are. We owe thanks to our loving families, friends and amazing vendors who all played an important role in creating the best day of our lives. Overall, it was a perfect night and our wedding was beyond our wildest dreams!

Everything You Need to Host a Killer Dinner Party

HERBAL CENTERPIECES

[dotted]

by Jackie, Munster Rose

Cost efficient and something that even those that are floral challenged can pull together with grace and beauty. In the summertime I cut fresh herbs from my garden. During the winter months, I grab whatever my local co-op has in-stock. Be creative and try unexpected things! Mint, basil, chard, kale, or lemon balm all work well in tiny bud vases. It’s an unexpected (and affordable) way to add some life to your table top.

– 1 bunch watercress
– 1 bunch Italian parsley
– 1 bunch flat leaf parsley
– 1 bunch dill
– 1 carton rosemary
– 1 carton oregano

Re-plant the herbs in pretty, white planters (like these) then cluster along the table. If you have a longer table, incorporate more herbs or simple greenery. The look is clean, organic, effortless.

BLUSH COCKTAIL

[dotted]

by Erik, Easy & Oskey

A gorgeous, beautifully balanced cocktail can set the tone for the party, while giving you permission to keep things simple. Make it great, and guests won’t even miss the other options.

– 2 oz Beefeater Gin
– 3/4 oz St Germain
– 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
– 1/2 oz Creme Yvette
– 1 tsp simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water by weight, dissolved in a gentle simmer on the stove)

Combine all ingredients with ice and shake 10-15 seconds. Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into your favorite cocktail glass. No garnish. As a lower octane alternative, omit the gin, shake remaining ingredients with ice and double strain into the cocktail glass. Top with 3/4 oz of your favorite dry sparkling wine.

As an enhancement, steep a handful of fresh mint for an hour in the simple syrup as it comes off the stove. Strain out the mint prior to mixing.

PERFECT INVITATIONS

[dotted]

by Catherine, Printerette Press

I created downloadable and print-yourself paper pieces – including invitations, the table signage, and more. I hand painted pieces to play off of Jackie’s herbal greenery. They look beautiful printed on a toothy cover stock. Ask your local print shop to print them on a heavyweight cover stock – even better if they have something with a toothy texture. Most print shops have a slide paper cutter which makes cutting them down to size a breeze.

YUMMY EATS

[dotted]

Sarah, The Vanilla Bean Blog

The first bite is the deepest…so make it good. These tiny, colorful beet tartletts are the perfect savory + sweet moment to welcome your guests with warmth and yumminess.

BEET TARTLETS

Roasting the beets
1 bunch of beets (3-4 small beets)

Trim the beets and wash them. Wrap each beet in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake in a 450F oven for about one hour, until the beets are fork tender. Unwrap the beets from the foil and let them cool to room temperature. Slice the beets into very thin rounds and set aside.

Goat cheese spread
6 ounces goat cheese, room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Generous pinch of salt and pepper
Put the goat cheese and the cream cheese in a bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, and mix on medium until smooth creamy, 3-4 minutes. Add the honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, and then mix again until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.

Crust
adapted from Good to the Grain by Kim Boyce
I only used one round of dough; the other can be frozen and kept for up to a month. It freezes very well; just remove from the freezer the night before using and keep in the fridge to thaw.
1 cup (100g) spelt flour
1 2/3 cup (238g) all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup ice water, as needed

Place the flours, sugar, and salt in a large bowl, and whisk together. Cut the butter into one-inch pieces and add to the bowl. Using a pastry cutter, work the butter into the flour until it is the size of small peas. Add 1/4 cup of the ice water to the flour mixture, and mix together with a spatula just to moisten the flour. The dough needs to come together in one lump, with a few small, shaggy pieces. If the dough is too dry to come together, add ice water 1 tablespoon at a time until it is ready.
Flour your work space, and transfer the dough to it. Fraisage the dough (instructions follow).

To fraisage the dough
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and gather into a rectangular shaped pile. Use the heel of your hand to smear the dough against the work surface. Continue to smear until all the dough has been worked. Gather into a pile again, and repeat. Separate the dough into two equal pieces, wrap each piece in plastic and chill for one hour (or up to 2 days).

To assemble and bake
Preheat the oven to 350F and line two baking sheets with parchment. Roll out the chilled dough into a 1/4 inch-thick round. Using a biscuit cutter (I used a 2-inch cutter), cut out rounds and place them on the baking sheets. Bake the rounds for 6-7 minutes, just until the dough starts to brown (it should be very light) and starts to puff up. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Top each round with a teaspoon of the goat cheese spread, and then top each one with a thinly sliced beet, pressing the beet down gently into the spread. Bake 8-10 minutes more, until the pastry edges are light golden brown. Serve warm.

A SWEET ENDING

[dotted]

Sarah, The Vanilla Bean Blog

Just like the first bite, the last will leave a final impression. It should be universally loved, crafted with love and not too shabby to look at. Enter, the most perfect chocolate cake ever.

CHOCOLATE CAKE

(Adapted from Ina Garten)
The cake batter will be very liquidity, so don’t let that worry you. If you are not a coffee fan, you can just use hot water.
This cake is very tender, so if you want to spread the frosting on without crumbs all mixed in it, I suggest using a crumb coat. Freezing the cake layers 20 minutes before frosting them will also help. There is also just enough frosting for the cake, so frost carefully. When I make this I always use eggs from a small, local farm that I trust, so I feel safe using the yolk in the frosting. If you are nervous about this, you can substitute a tablespoon of corn syrup, or omit it all together (I’ve done both of those options in a pinch, and it’s turned out fine).

Cake
1 3/4 cup (249g) all-purpose flour
2 cups (396g) granulated sugar
3/4 cup (75g) cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk, shaken
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee

Frosting
6 oz (170g) bittersweet chocolate
1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 egg yolk, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups (143g) sifted powdered sugar

For the cake
Preheat the oven to 350F, and adjust an oven rack to the middle position. Butter or grease two 8-inch round cake pans (make sure cake pans are at least 2 inches tall). Line the pan bottoms with parchment paper, then butter the paper and flour the pans.
In a bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt on low. In a medium liquid measuring cup with a pourable spout, combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry. With the mixer still on low, add the hot coffee and stir just to combine, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 35-40 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 30 minutes, then turn them out onto a cooling rack and cool completely, removing the parchment paper.

For the frosting
Chop the bittersweet chocolate and place it in a heat-proof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir the chocolate until just melted. Set aside until cooled to room temperature.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Add the egg yolk and vanilla and continue beating for 3 minutes. Turn the mixer to low, gradually add the powdered sugar, then beat at medium speed, scraping down the bowl when necessary, until smooth and creamy.
On low speed, add the chocolate to the butter mixture and mix until just blended. Use a spatula to scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl, and finish gently mixing with the spatula. Spread immediately on the cooled cake.

To assemble
Place one cake layer, flat side up, on a serving plate. With a knife or offset spatula, spread the top with frosting. Place the second layer on top, rounded side up, and spread the frosting evenly on the top and sides of the cake.

From KT MerryOur inspiration for this shoot was the couple that didn’t want to just honeymoon in an incredible location but elope there as well. The beautiful landscapes of Santorini, the white cascade of architecture and the clear skies make these Greek Isles a picturesque place for an elopement, destination wedding or honeymoon. We stayed and photographed at Canaves Hotel in Oia and it was truly a magical setting. Walking through the narrow passages and overlooking the sprawling sea the backdrop is truly romantic and inspiring.

From Ever After HoneymoonsSantorini is the most romantic island, an absolute dream location for a honeymoon! For the ultimate suite, stay in the Infinity Pool Suite at Canaves Oia Suites. The views from here are stunning! Then I would highly recommend a sunset boat trip one evening, where you get the most incredible sunset views! This is complimentary for clients of Ever After Honeymoons.

From The Venue ReportCanaves Oia is a gorgeous, glittering, light & bright gem, carved into the Santorini seaside that also happens to be destination “I-do,” bucket-list breathtaking. With panoramic views of the village of Oia, the volcano and the Aedean sea, let’s guess your Insta-feed will be en fuego. Paradisiacal gathering possibilities range from a dramatic cliffside ceremony to a candle-lit dinner under the stars at onsite gourmet, restaurant, Petra. As for amazing accommodations, how does a suite with a river cave plunge pool sound? For us, Canaves Oia checks every destination I-do bucket list box – beautiful location and bespoke service coupled with extraordinary experiences you can’t get anywhere else. Opa!

A Fuchsia-Infused Wedding Done So Right

Whether or not you consider yourself a “pink” kind of girl, I guarantee you’ll fall hard for this timeless “I do”. Set in Malibu with views of the Pacific Coast shoreline playing backdrop, Amber Events helped bring the bride’s soft and feminine vision to life, including floral design by the pretty-makers at Peony & Plum. Major kuddos to Christine Doneé for gallery pin-worthy images we adore through and through.

From Amber Events… When I met Madison, she was one of those big-eyed, excitable dreamers of what her perfect wedding day would be like. She sat me down and told me of all the elements that would be important to her. She would tell me in such an excited temperament, “romance, pretties, chic, timeless.” From there we set out to find ways to enhance the venue. Adamson House is a classic Malibu home built in 1930. Fast forward over 85 years, and the estate is still kept in its pristine condition. The venue has views of the Pacific Coast shoreline, which was a huge plus for Madison. She envisioned the blue skies and blue waters to be her backdrop for an intimate and romantic setting.

Her faith played a very big role in developing the design for her ceremony. We created a simple floral adorned alter that included a cross to represent her Christian faith. This ceremony backdrop played a big part in setting the tone for the rest of the design. We had calligraphy on large wooden displays as guests entered the area with her favorite verses of the Bible.

From there the colors expanded outside of the neutral palette and included pops of magenta and fuchsia. Madison loved the idea of including Bougainvillea and made it a prominent floral choice for the rest of the evening. The Bougainvillea tied together the California and Spanish-inspired theme throughout. We continued to tie in the the playful nature of her personality into the rest of the event by including unexpected pops here and there, including a naked cake, floral hair wreaths during the dance party, and a VIP scotch display in hand selected crystal decanters. That part was more for the guys, you can imagine.

The entire evening was pulled together with strategically placed twinkle lights and natural candles throughout. The bride and groom were whisked away in a limo as they ran through a tunnel of bubbles! Definitely a night to remember.

Have you ever seen a 7 foot wedding cake? Or a chuppah so pretty it could bring you to tears? This, dear friends, is the kind of day that’s about to unfold all planned by industry guru, Tess Casey. You might recognize her floral design work from movies like Sex and the City or The Devil Wears Prada, so no surprise she was the genius behind this incredible celebration. With Trent Bailey behind the camera, you’d be crazy not to visit The Vault for an inside look.

From Tess CaseyThe bride grew up going to Sea Island, so the natural place to have her wedding was on the beautiful Georgia Island. Wednesday night was an intimate family celebration held on the black banks terrace of the cloister. All the guests wore white and the bride wore blue. The flowers were garden snapdragons, pale blue hydrangea, coral peonies and olive branches in natural wooden boxes. The guests dined on the dock on farm tables with cream linen napkins tied with twine in the fisherman’s love Knot. Hanging custom nautical lanterns lit the dock as the sun went down. Thursday’s rehearsal dinner was held at the villa and had a european flair. All flowers were from a local farm market with bunches of hand tied herbs and copper lanterns all down long tables with white linen.

Friday night was a big southern party on rainbow island with huge baskets of peaches and wildflowers in spice cans on the picnic tables hanging overhead market lights and the open fire pit set the tone for the Southern bash. The love sign leaning against a huge tree at the end of the dock walk was a brilliant photo op for all. This Saturday celebration was held in tents on the beach and the ceremony was held on the beautiful old sail tent. A walkway was constructed on the beach in beige carpet with the hedges of babies breath and hanging green amaranthus.

Inside the tent a massive custom Chuppah was made from birch branches encased in lucite with hanging wisteria and orchids. It was a nod to the Southern Spanish moss hanging from the trees in the area. The bridal party carried flowers of garden roses, dusty miller, grape hyacinth, succulents, olive twigs and eucalyptus while the bride carried white peonies, garden roses and smilax. The reception was held in the custom built one-of-a-kind tent set overlooking the beach. The mixture of different styles and sizes from farm tables to beautiful oval and square tables, mini sofas, beautiful chairs, custom linens lend the night to grand southern estate affair. Hanging over every table suspended from the ceiling were phalaenopsis orchids and branches and over the huge dance floor were a collection of crystal chandeliers. All around the tent were huge trophy vases of blue and white hydrangea and massive urns of white peonies.

The dessert area which was a big reveal was inspired by Sophie Coppola’s movie Marie Antoinette. Here the desserts and cakes were displayed in crystal tables with hanging chandeliers. There were also wall mirrors and peacocks with six-foot tails and gilded birdcages tapered candles in crystal candelabra surrounded the 7 foot wedding cake.

From Couture EventsJaime and Minét fell in love while being work neighbors. Jaime worked next to Minét’s boutique & salon (Dolcetti Boutique and A Style Concierge)- co-owned by her and her sister, and he would come over and visit her and helped her with projects around the store as needed. They instantly became good friends. He was always there for her when she needed him and over time their friendship turned into a beautiful romance.

The couple decided to get married at the beautiful Inn at Rancho Santa Fe “It was everything we wanted,” Minét says. “An outdoor venue that could hold our guest count and at the same time had a very quaint feeling.”

The ceremony was very important to the couple and while many think only about the reception. Minét & Jaime wanted their guests to know how important their vows, union, and promise to each other was. They wanted to celebrate it with all of their guests. The ceremony details included a gorgeous Vera Wang gown, six flower girls donned tutus handmade by Minét’s mother, chandeliers hanging from the trees, and vintage doors draped in garland.

There were three of the most delicious signature drinks, lawn games, photo booths, escort cards, and vignettes of vintage furniture for guest to lounge on, hand made signage by the mother of the bride, and the corners of the cocktail lawn were filled with hanging florals.

For the reception, guests dined under a tent with ornate white draping, glittering chandeliers and gorgeous florals. “I wanted a very romantic feeling with mixed elements of wood, gold, blush and florals,” Minét says. Then they danced the night away under the glowing market lights and starlight sky.

The couple LOVES donuts so instead of serving their guests traditional desserts the couple decided to create a donut display with gourmet donuts from Donut Bar.

And they lived happily ever after…

Timeless + Elegant Cleveland City Hall Wedding

When you hear the phrase “city hall wedding,” you probably think of a simple ceremony with only the Bride and Groom present. This is not that kind of city hall wedding. From the Bride’s glamorous backless, ivory lace dress to Molly Taylor Designs‘ gorgeous flowers, this day is truly something special. See it all from Lauren Gabrielle Photography in The Vault!

From The Bride…Joe and I met September 25th in Akron, Ohio at a wedding. My childhood best friend and his cousin were tying the knot and an introduction was inevitable since we were both single and living in New York City. At the end of the evening we exchanged numbers and we had our first date the following week. Fast-forward five years to our wedding date, September 26th. Since we are both from Cleveland, our hometown was the best way to ensure our family and friends would be there to celebrate with us.

For our ceremony, we decided on the breathtaking Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. We looked at four venues downtown before deciding on the City of Cleveland’s Grand Hall Rotunda. It was the perfect compliment to the Cathedral as both had a timeless and elegant feel. Each possessed arched ceilings and marble columns and we knew the sophisticated space would speak for itself. Cocktail hour would be held on the open-air second floor overlooking the reception.

From there, the rest fell into place. In keeping with our timeless and elegant theme, I chose a backless, ivory lace dress with a glamorous vintage feel. I knew it was the one the moment I put it on and I could envision myself holding a hand-tied, flowing, bridal bouquet. To compliment my dress, I chose midnight blue, one-shoulder bridesmaid dresses accessorized with custom jewels from designer and friend, Sarah Johnson.

There were other elements of the day that were incredibly special to me. My mother wrote by hand the place cards for our guests. My father helped by painting various items for our “keys to happiness” display so they were a beautiful gold metallic finish. The diamonds in my wedding band were from pieces of my mother’s own collection and our wedding bands were made by hand by my sister-in-law’s father.

While all of the personalized touches made our reception unique, our flowers really brought the space to life. Our original florist fell through less than a week before our wedding and it was a blessing in disguise. I immediately called Molly Taylor and she was incredible. We had three different designs for our tables with various elements of dahlias, ranunculus and willow eucalyptus to name a few. Her floral creations truly transformed the Rotunda. She brought the three-tier cake decorated with a herringbone pattern to life by tying in complimentary florals on each tier.

It is difficult for me to choose my favorite moment of the day so I settled on two. Taking pictures after the ceremony was so much fun! Joe was incredible and knew how important it was for me to capture this moment in time. He did everything that was asked of him (which required some heavy lifting!) and we had a great time posing for the different shots and going with the flow. Lauren from Lauren Gabrielle Photography was an incredible guide and fun to work with. She truly captured the emotions of our day and we are thrilled with the photos. We are incredibly lucky to have found her and believe our investment in a quality photographer was one of our best decisions during the planning process.

I also loved dancing with my dad. He chose our song himself, Blue Skies by Willie Nelson, and it was perfect. Growing up we loved listening to music together and it was so special to share that moment with him.

To me, our wedding day was flawless and I would not change one thing. I felt as though the day and design truly reflected Joe and I as a couple and was a wonderful way to start our new life together. My advice for brides-to-be is to take your planner hat off several days before your wedding day. I made sure everything was ready to go and taken care of the week before and the few days leading up to the wedding were relatively stress-free. This really allowed me to take in the experience and to be present. I treated the morning of our wedding like any other day. I went to the gym, had a latte and enjoyed the company of my friends. I made up my mind our wedding would be perfect long before the day arrived and in the company of our closest family and friends, I was so excited to see Joe at the end of the aisle that afternoon.

Pretty In Pink Romantic Garden-Inspired Fall Wedding

Go ahead, pinch yourself, but I promise you you’re not dreaming—this beautiful wedding is totally real. With the help of Devoted To You Inc., Grace and Yulin’s vision for a wedding full of delicate details and soft floral touches came to life in the most gorgeous way. From the Groom’s surprise ceremony serenade to the jaw-dropping dessert table, you’re going to want to pin every photo of this wedding from Mango Studios in The Vault!

From Devoted To You IncGrace and Yulin met in university and had been in a long distance relationship for the past two years. They wanted their wedding to be intimate and had friends and families from all over the world attend. We curated the wedding to not only look beautiful, but also memorable to the couple by including the things they liked – such as their favorite food, and games that involved guests like The Running Man, which is an Asian hit TV show similar in concept to The Amazing Race. A wedding is about two people in love joining their lives together and we want to showcase that by incorporating things that both Grace and Yulin enjoy in their wedding.

Both the wedding ceremony and the reception took place at the most beautiful venues. Their first look and wedding ceremony took place at Graydon Hall Manor followed by a wedding reception at Estates of Sunnybrook. We teamed up with Nous Design Group and Megan Wappel Designs to bring Grace’s vision to life. We used Grace’s favorite flower – pink peonies as the inspiration of the design to create a spring wedding in the fall. Megan Wappel designed all the wedding stationery and the sweet table for the wedding – from invitation set to day-of stationery, including The Running Man game booklet. Guests teamed up and competed against each other to complete all of the challenges assigned. Photos were also posted on Instagram with the hashtag #yulingracebigday, which was showcased as a slideshow for everyone to enjoy in the evening. Gisele from Nous Design Group provided the design and décor service and brought Grace’s dream wedding to life. Our team coordinated the sourcing of vintage tableware from Plate Occasions where each guest had a unique place setting in various pinks and patterns, pairing with gold cutleries.

The sweet table created by Megan Wappel and Christina from Truffles was so picture perfect that everyone swooned over the beautiful delicious sweets. The couples danced between the sparklers under the stars. The wedding couldn’t have been any better.

From The Bride…Yulin and I always knew we wanted to incorporate the outdoors into our wedding, so when we found the McLean House, it was the perfect venue for a peaceful and intimate ceremony for 50 guests surrounded by the greenery. It felt like the middle of spring with fresh flowers blooming around. No one would’ve ever guessed it was the middle of an autumn September month.

The color palette was feminine and simple with blush and pink tones sprinkling through all aspects of the wedding from the table linens to the bridesmaids’ dresses to the desserts. The light tones complemented the all-white shell of the house, keeping a soft, graceful feel, whereas a darker color would have be too harsh of a contrast. I incorporated peonies everywhere I could since they were my favorite flowers so they would peek out from the bridesmaid’s bouquets, the centerpieces and even the invitation envelopes.

Yulin and I wanted to incorporate some fun aspects to our wedding to bring laughter and fun for our guests. During the ceremony, Yulin pulled out a guitar that he hid behind a bush and serenaded me in song for a full three minutes! He completely caught me by surprise so I serenaded him right back later that day during cocktail hour. Between the ceremony and reception, we created a scavenger hunt for our guests to complete. Some tasks included take a picture with a lady in white (not the bride), take a picture with an old couple, find a Yulin look alike, make a veil and bowtie, and buy Lindt chocolate. Proof of completion was to be posted on Instagram with the hashtag #yulingracebigday.

Our sweets table was the most popular. It was so beautifully arranged no one wanted to touch it at first, but once a macaron was snatched up, so did the cake pops and cupcakes because they tasted just as divine as they looked and there is always room left for dessert.

I had a vision of delicate details and soft floral touches and my planner Carmen Luk took in all I wanted and created the most stunning wedding. I didn’t need to worry for a minute on my wedding day because I knew everything was in good hands; I knew this was a day I could wholesomely enjoy with my new husband. I felt beautiful in my Vera Wang wedding dress, and custom Valencienne red gown. It was a picture perfect day that left me and my husband joyous and I wouldn’t change anything for the world.

Gold Leaf Donuts

Elegant + Classic Summer Wedding

When a wedding this pretty is shot by someone as talented as Caroline Lima, we stop and take notice. And trust us, it’s a stop worth taking. With classic charm and one seriously adorable couple (their proposal story is just the sweetest), it’s easy to see why we are head over heels in love with every single image sitting pretty in this gallery. See even more in the VAULT.

From Caroline Lima PhotographyYour family decides to take a trip to Ireland. In short order, you’re dreaming of the verdant countryside, the quaint cottages, the rich history. It’s sure to be an amazing experience! The only problem? Your honey can’t come along…he has to work. But you board the plane anyway, and soon you’re strolling over a bridge in Dublin. It’s picturesque. It’s incredible. The one thing missing is your main squeeze…until he shows up by surprise and asks you the question of a lifetime! That’s how I picture Jessie and Alston’s engagement (based on what I heard from the bride herself…oh how I love that story!). Jessie herself is just the best mix of fun and elegance. When she married Alston at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, she wore a stunning custom made Monique Lhuillier dress and veil…and Manolos! Yes! She was absolutely magnetic when she walked down the aisle! This wedding saw me working with Lily Greenthumb’s for the first time. Their florals are always exquisite, and the pieces they provided for Jessie and Alston’s celebration were no exception. The couple enjoyed their guests to the fullest at the Myers Park Country Club, and the dance floor was packed. Such a joy to be a part of this day! Jessie also mentioned to me that she and Alston are dog lovers (they grew up with golden retrievers and blue heelers, respectively) and plan to welcome a furry friend into their family soon. It always warms my heart to work with people who love pups as much as I do! I wish this beautiful couple all the best as they take on the new adventures life has to offer!
