A 500-Person Wedding Where Festival-Style Meets Garden Party Grace

You would think a 500-person guest list would deter a Bride and Groom from any DIY projects, but that wasn’t the case for Rebecca and Steve, who DIYed multiple elements of their boho garden party meets music festival-inspired wedding. And with Studio Elle Photography on hand to capture it all, The Vault is full of pretty inspiration — from loose, romantic florals to the pharmacist-inspired table names!

From Studio Elle PhotographyRebecca & Steve are two of the most fun-loving, free-spirited couples that I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. I was absolutely thrilled to be a part of their celebration! The weather was perfect for their tented outdoor garden party at Patterson’s Fruit Farm. There wasn’t a detail overlooked and so many personal touches were done by hand from the bride & groom.

After an afternoon church ceremony, we stopped at various spots around Cleveland for views of the skyline. Rebecca & Steve had so much fun with their wedding party while we made our way to Patterson’s to finish off the day. While the couple and their 500+ guests danced and enjoyed the evening, the sun set behind the rolling hills and orchard. It was the perfect end to the most beautiful day!

From The Bride…With a guest list towering over five hundred, finding a wedding venue in Northeast Ohio was no easy task. When looking for a venue, we knew we wanted it to be unique. My husband Steven proposed to me at our third Bonnaroo together (a four-day-long, outdoor, hippie rave, music festival for those that aren’t familiar), so having our wedding reception outdoors seemed like a natural extension of that free bird attitude, but finding the place to host us and dealing with what seemed like nearly every other opinion on how we needed a back up plan for weather (an August wedding in Cleveland? It could be snowing! It could be over 100 degrees!) was an additional feat. When I originally spoke with Patterson Fruit Farm, I was blessed to get ahold of a woman named Livia, who told me that they have never really tried anything like I was explaining before, but she was willing to pitch it to her boss and would get back to me. She was phenomenal throughout the planning process, and really alleviated a lot of potential bridezilla moments. Patterson’s is a beautiful fruit market and farm located in Cuyahoga Country surrounded by Metroparks. On our wedding day, it was 72 degrees without a cloud in the sky, so we never needed that back up plan! We stuck with a color of ivory, blush, gold, and forest green. Our overall style vision was garden-themed/ festival/ bohemian.

Our ceremony was held at Saint James Catholic Church in Lakewood, Ohio. Our uncles concelebrated the ceremony, which was very special for both of our families (although two Catholic priests marrying their niece and nephew means a very long mass for a our guests!!). When we left the church, our guests were given pill vials that were filled with capsules to throw at us! These were all hand-filled at what we liked to call “wedding work nights,” where we would work for a few hours a night on wedding crafts. The capsules were filled with sugar that was dyed gold and pale pink. Other items that we worked on during wedding work nights were custom water bottles, where we removed all labels from water bottles and added new labels in our wedding colors, and sparkler packages. The sparklers were pretty tedious. It included adorning a four-foot-long sparkler with a mini lighter and hand-stamped label that was also hand “antiqued” with paint. All lighting was done by family, which included bistro lighting throughout the 100 x 80 foot twin peak tent and chandeliers throughout the farm. A sprig of lavender was hand tied with twine to every seating placement. Guests were seated at tables that were named after drug names, since both my husband and I are pharmacists. Since our reception was at an apple farm, fresh apple cider was served throughout the night, both with and without bourbon! For the kids, flavored soda pop was available as well as glow sticks, which the kids ended up taping to themselves and running around the farm — we got some really good photos from that. My something old was a handkerchief that my grandmother carried on her wedding day, my something blue was a hand-stitched cross from my grandmother, and my something borrowed was Steve’s grandmother’s engagement ring. The bridal party went to the Cleveland Browns stadium to play a little pick up game of football which was a good time, too.

There were so many perfect moments. Steve, my husband, surprised me with our first dance by having our band learn our song (Home- Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros) and he serenaded me during a part of the song which was really special and unexpected. I thought it was very special to have both of our uncles marry us. Our wedding day, August 22, is also his parents anniversary, which I think is very special.

AND I CANT FORGET ABOUT THE VENDORS!! So many of our vendors played a huge role in making our day a success. The bridal bouquet was hand tied with roses, dahlias, white stock, snow on the mountain, white veronica, and lisianthus with herbs, seeded eucalyptus, ruscus, and jasmine vine trailing. The bridesmaid bouquets were mismatched to complement the bridal bouquet. Fresh floral crowns were worn by the bride, bridesmaids, and mother of the groom! Long tables with ivory tablecloths and gold-rimmed china were accented with garland centerpieces. Seasonal locally grown flowers and foliages were also scattered throughout the guest tables, cookie table, and candy bar. Gold candelabras were also adorned with floral arrangements throughout the tables. Our cake, by Hummingbird Bake Shop, was a 4-tier “naked” white cake with buttercream frosting, fresh fruit (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries) between layers, each tier with 3 layers. It was the most delicious cake we have ever had! Our invitations were hand drawn by a friend who perfectly captured our personalities onto paper. I wore two of the most GORGEOUS gowns on the day of my wedding — for the ceremony, Something White provided with me “Rosemary” by Amy Kuschel and for the reception I wore “Kensington” by Carol Hannah. The Grammy-nominated musician Alex Meixner Band was the entertainment for the reception with DJ Earl carrying guests into the early hours of the morning at the after party. This meant that guests of all ages danced the night away — with a variation of polka throughout dinner BUT probably the most unique polka band you would ever hear considering they played “Enter Sandman” on the accordion. Guests were able to take home travel CDs, flower crowns, flip flops, light up drink cubes (activated when placed in a cold drink), candy bag, and cookie bag. The cookie table is a tradition from my Youngstown family. At our wedding, we had over 5,000 cookies. My grandmother’s friends helped her over a two-month period to make sure we had enough cookies — and they all went! Immediately following the traditional reception was a sparkler sendoff directly to the after party which went to 3:30 in the morning. At the after party, we served my husband’s and my favorite foods — pizza, green grapes, blueberries, wheat thins, chocolate almond milk, cheez-its, and kettle cooked potato chips and dip!

Honestly, after having an outdoor reception, there is so much more that I know now that I didn’t know then! What do we do with garbage, are we recycling, what about glassware, how many bottles of water do we need, what about bathrooms, what about security, what about noise, what about ice, what about power, and on and on! I would change nothing, but I really did not realize the work that needed to be put in. We created every single detail of this wedding from the ground up. It was a ton of work, and with the exception of Livia at Patterson’s (who doesn’t consider herself a wedding planner although I would beg to differ!) we did it all ourselves. It was so nice to hear so many of our friends and family tell us that our wedding was the best party they have ever been to when it was by far the best day of my life!

This Bright Fall Wedding is Unlike Any Other You’ve Seen Before

Just because you’re getting married in the fall doesn’t mean you have to choose the typical fall color palette of deep reds, golden yellows and rich oranges. The proof? This beautiful day from Amalie Orrange Photography. With bursts of hot pink, orange, coral and peach and gold accents sprinkled throughout, this fall Florida wedding is the perfect mix of glamour and fun. See it all now in The Vault!

From Amalie Orrange PhotographySometimes you just have a wedding that is so amazing that you call it our magical unicorn of weddings! Everything was perfect from the couple, the weather, the venue and vendors….the stars aligned for these two beautiful people and we are thrilled and honored that we were trusted with photographing their wedding day.

From L.I.F.E EventsRobin came to me with her color palette and I was inspired from the get go! Oranges, hot pinks, peaches, coral and more with pops of gold – one can’t go wrong! A botanical chic design was then in the works!

The couple wanted most of the color to pop through the flowers and didn’t envision that much on the guest tables. We did however play up cocktail hour and the head table with the perfect coral and peach linens to accentuate all the beautiful flowers designed by Lee Forrest. All tables were accented with a beautiful gold sequins runner the client found on Etsy that added a touch of chic to the design! Gold glass beaded chargers, gold flatware and gold mercury glass topped it all off!

The Sugar Suite helped Robin and Steven with the design of their cake and it was the prefect mix of simplicity meets chic! Placing the cake on a high top full of glitz kept the design consistent and oh so perfect!

My favorite aspect was the favor table! Robin had candles in mind and I fell in love. We created a “let love shine” table that housed all their candles for guests to take at the end of the night. Until then it was a great visual for all guests as they danced the night away!

From The Bride…Steven and I met at the beginning of our first year in law school at the University of Florida. One of my bridesmaids, who I had just met at the time, was having a birthday party and we met at her house. I remember thinking he was so cute! We hit it off that night and the rest of the story followed! Steven and I had been out of law school for a year when we were back in our old stomping grounds for a friend’s wedding. The day after the wedding, it was a beautiful fall day in Gainesville, with the sun shining and a perfect cool breeze. We walked all around campus before Steven took me to a walking trial near a lake on campus, a place we often walked together when we were students. We neared the end of the boardwalk that jutted over the lake, and as I was gazing out, Steven dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was the happiest moment of life my life, next to my wedding day.

My most memorable moment was definitely our first look. The anticipation I felt leading up to that moment was huge and there was something truly special about sharing that first moment, just the two of us! I am so glad we had that private time to take each other in. It also didn’t hurt that the first word out of Steven’s mouth after he saw me was “wow!”

My vision for my wedding was inspired looking at lots of wedding blogs to get inspiration for my wedding. I wanted to find out how everyday brides, like me, planned and styled their events. I came across one wedding which color palette I fell in love with– I used a lot of their ideas to come up with my color palette. Then, when we found Casa Feliz, our venue, I meshed my color ideas with the space to come up with my exact vision. My wedding planner, Becky, took all my ideas to the next level and that’s how we came up with such a beautiful wedding. If it had not been for her, my day would have been nowhere near as pretty as it turned out to be.

My favorite design element was definitely all the colors!! I wanted a fun, happy, vibrant wedding with a touch of glam, and I think that really came through in all the flowers and details of the event.

A Rustic Summer Wedding Complete with a Frozen Lemonade Stand

When the Groom is one of the masterminds behind Dels Frozen Lemonade, New England’s favorite summer sip, you know the wedding is going to be full of fun, summer vibes. And this Massachusetts wedding so is. With a frozen lemonade cart, lawn games and music from Boston Common Band, this Willowdale Estate wedding is simply perfect. See it all from KL Imagery and Frame & Anchor in The Vault!

From Willowdale EstateDell’s Frozen Lemonade is *the* summer drink in New England, and when one of the owners (Matt) married his incredibly chic bride (Whitney) they just had to have the most classic, beautiful summer celebration complete with a frozen lemonade cart, lawn games mixed with effortlessly with gorgeous formal elements.

From The Bride…My inspiration was elegant and rustic romance! ‘Elegance’ and ‘Rustic’ may seem like a strange juxtaposition, but I think it really sums up the feel behind our Wedding Day. Willowdale Estate with it’s tent, mansion, garden, and the surrounding grounds was a perfect location for this. We are both laid back and love the outdoors and wanted that reflected, as well as to provide a beautiful reception and great party that did not sacrifice the details. We had tufted couches paired with vintage seating, antique gold lanterns alongside geometric glass terrariums with moss and white and blush flowers, and white antler place card holders with gold mercury glass candles. Guests could sip on Del’s lemonade or strawberry rhubarb champagne while playing cornhole or snacking on mini lobster rolls. It really showed both sides of us!

We met in a very unique way (Whitney lived in Minnesota and Matt lived in Massachusetts but we met on a bus in Australia. Whitney got the last seat available on the bus which happened to be next to Matt. The bus broke down and we were stuck together for hours before getting to our destination…we’ve been together ever since!) We wanted our wedding day to also be uniquely “us” as well and it was those personalized touches really made the day special for us. Both of Matt’s parents are from Rhode Island so it has a special place in our hearts. Matt is owner of the Del’s Lemonade in Cumberland, RI so we had a cart serving the frozen lemonade to guests as they arrived. To showcase our love of the outdoors, moss and flowers were a theme throughout the indoors and outdoors. Our first look was on the bridge by the river running though the Willowdale Estate property. Matt enjoys hunting and fishing so antler accents were shown throughout the decor, and small antler tines were incorporated into the groomsmen’s boutonnieres. We had a sophisticated s’mores station (Whitney’s favorite treat since childhood!), and Minnesota and Massachusetts shaped cookies were given to our guests as they departed. Whitney’s mother, a talented cook, created a signature cocktail using Strawberries and Rhubarb from farms in Minnesota, which Willowdale bartenders mixed and served throughout the evening. Near the end of the evening, we served french fries and grilled cheeses from Willowdale Catering – I think our guests are still talking about them! It was the perfect snack after dancing the night away!

The Boston Common Band was amazing and made the whole day, from the beginning of the ceremony to the end of the evening, stress-free as far as music was concerned. Not only was there a DJ for the ceremony music and the full band and DJ for the reception – they also covered the cocktail hour by playing jazz music on the piano inside the mansion. They made everyone dance and had some pretty amazing moves of their own.

One of my favorite moments of the day was our first dance. Unbeknownst to us, the wedding party pocketed some of the flower petals we used during our recession down the aisle after the ceremony, and showered us with them during our first dance. Our song was “This Magic Moment” by the Drifters….and it certainly was!

Our Nephew was our ring bearer but was still too young to walk. We had the flower girl pull him down in a vintage wagon found (along with other great antiques like our victorian chair) at the Wrentham Country Store. One of my favorite gifts that was also showcased on our wedding cake table was the custom hand embroidered linen from the Etsy shop StrawberryAndIvy (Whitney’s MOH) She also designed our card box made from a vintage wooden microscope box. Dogwood Floral made absolutely beautiful and romantic flower arrangements and table scapes. She took time to listen to what I wanted, created a sample to ensure we were on the same page, and delivered above and beyond on the day of the wedding.

I also can’t say enough about our Videographer, Evan, from Frame and Anchor. From the first time we spoke to after the video was edited and sent to us, he was so informative, approachable, professional, and made us feel comfortable and involved in the process.

We took on some DIY projects too! The seating chart and other signage was created using frames, moss, and printed material. In order to create an “indoor” lounge area feel outside, we brought in furniture, a coffee table, and customized pillows to arrange under the bistro lights near the reception area. We spray painted tiny clothes pins gold and attached packets of petals to our ceremony programs for the petal toss recession. We also created packages for the kids that would be in attendance at the dinner (coloring books, etc). Because we are from different states and had family and friends coming from near and far, it was also important to us to create a sincere thank you note for everyone. We created these with the help of minted.com and slid them under the place cards. We also created a flip-flop display by the dance floor so guests could dance in comfort. The most time consuming but rewarding DIY project was creating the favors. They were cookies shaped like Massachusetts and Minnesota and decorated in icing with a small heart where our hometowns are located. They were packaged with a heart cookie in-between them and given to our guests as they departed.

A Hipster Chic Wedding With Major Floral Moments

Warning: this wedding will make your heart flutter. A celebration complete with a moss dance floor, a misty ceremony, and a petal station, this couple celebrated in true PNW style. With the ever-so-talented Maria Lamb Photography behind the lens snapping it all to share, we’ve got it waiting for you in The Vault!

From The Bride…Malachi and I love nature and when we started planning the wedding we pictured a space that had the essence of a enchanted secret garden with a hint of Lord of the Rings. Roses, dahlias, lavender, rosemary and lots of green moss were essential to the vision and our floral designer/decorator Andrew fit it all in to the decor. My luscious and slightly heavy bouquet was layered with lavender, greens, roses and dahlias. The colors we chose were all different shades of greens, pinks and blues. We added a personal touch by creating all of the wooden props in Malachi’s wood shop Against the Grain Studio, which is now transitioning into a family business Milbourn Woodwork! The backdrops, wooden table rounds, sweetheart table, and various stumps were all created in his shop just two weeks before the wedding! He started his own furniture company 7 years ago and is an amazing woodworker but deadlines can be a little rough for him! (sorry honey!)

The Grotto was a perfect location for our ceremony because of its immense natural outdoor beauty and it did not need a ounce of added decor! We made it to Ceremony without a drop of rain until halfway through it started to mist. That is when Maria Lamb took one of my favorite photos, the mist added a dreamy pacific northwest touch to the wedding.

The sun broke out just as the ceremony was ending and it turned out to be a lovely day as we headed to the World Forestry Center for the reception. When we arrived we were amazed at how Andrew had decorated the tent to fit our vision. He added a fountain surrounded by the moss, dreamy flower covered gate and a petal station. Our guests loved showering us with petals while we danced the first dance. We feel very blessed to have been able to celebrate with all our family and friends and very thankful to everyone that helped along the way.

How to Throw a Parisian Inspired Birthday Sans Eiffel Tower

It’s hard to surpass our love for pretty pastels. But when you deck a party and a dessert spread out in the palest shades of pretty, then add a little french flair, our love knows no bounds. And while this may be a celebration of the first year of life, I’m pretty sure this 30 something is stealing a few Parisian inspired details for my summer birthday; including that macaron cake. See even more styled by Make My Day Count + The Cocoa Cakery and photos by Simply Lace Photography right here.

My youngest baby was quickly approaching ONE and I realized that this was my last chance to have fun with a theme for my sweet little girl. A friend had tagged me in a post on a buy and sell page of a French Macaron costume for sale, created by another crafty mom. I immediately bought it and the theme bloomed from there.

The idea was to create a beautiful vintage chic French market feel so that people could be welcomed, come and eat, visit with each other and feel free to sit and stay or grab a cupcake and be on their way. I love the mingling atmosphere of a cocktail party, but kid style for a first birthday. It puts no pressure on baby to “perform” and have too many people around them at any given time as they usually are overwhelmed on this occasion.

I was inspired by the streets of Paris, the shop windows, the decadent desserts, the cheese (always the cheese) and the bread. As the owner and creator at the cocoa cakery, I realized this was an opportunity to create the Parisian look I’d always wanted to see, with out the need to have any Eiffel towers in my design.

With the help of an amazing vendor team we created stations for drinks both cold and hot, a “formagerie & hors d’heuvres” station and a beautiful cake and sweets booth set up on a vintage looking cart provided by Sweethearts Sugar Carts, a welcome vignette and a seating area.

A long picnic/harvest style table was set up for guests to relax and enjoy their nibbles and sweets.
The back wall of the venue was created with hand drawn “patisserie” windows, as though you’re in front of a store, complete with handmade awnings and window boxes. The natural peak of the room and light created the perfect atmosphere for this intimate little party.

A floral chandelier was also handmade from an old drum shade, pearls and brightly coloured florals.
Southern Charm Vintage Rentals provided all the perfect pieces to complete the look. Cheese & tea crates, vintage telephone, along with tiered stands, and our flower market stand with sap buckets brought all the details together perfectly.

Guests were asked to sign a globe for baby Ruth and fill out a little sheet with blessings and wishes for her as she grows.
The invitation was hand drawn by her mamma and was also the inspiration for the colors and general design of the party.

Little Ruth’s paternal Grandmother created all the adorable individual sized parfaits which were made from vanilla yogurt and jello, as a nod to the layered jello she is famous for making at party’s. Cookie favors were also ready to go out to guests as they left.

The sweet table by the cocoa cakery was made up of three ornate mini cakes laden with soft pink sugar flowers and dripping with hand painted blue watercolor design. The cupcakes were piped buttercream flowers and edible mini pearls. A giant buttercream macaron was the smash cake, which Ruth delicately sat and ate, bite by bite.

Muted Earth Tones Inspired This Wedding Day Design

When a dreamy garden estate plays backdrop to your big day, you sit back and let the scenery speak for itself. And that’s exactly what this couple did as they approached the design of their big day. Opting for a sea of muted earth tones to compliment the setting, they fully embraced the natural beauty around them and soaked in every second. Read on for their story, and don’t miss the gallery from Elate Photo.

Rustic

From The Bride…The wedding design itself was inspired by all things romantic. We tried in every way possible to tie in the romantic and timeless beauty that is found in earth tones, accenting these tones with dulled silver. We wanted our special day to be not one of glitz and shimmer but one that reflected the true organic beauty of love. Our desire was for our guests to feel a sense of warmth and authenticity in every part of the night. We accomplished this vision by having our guest gathered around us at our wedding ceremony so that they felt they were involved in the ceremony. We wanted the reception to have a sense of community. We made this possible by having our guests seated at twenty-four foot long tables that encouraged conversation and connection. We asked our amazing DJ, Bryan Thrane of pacific Entertainment, to encourage the guests to talk to each other which he did through a game where they had to nominate someone at the table to share a story about us. This brought the sweetest sense of community and love to the day.

At our ceremony, we asked some of our friend Lauren Krippner sing old hymns as we partook in the communion and foot washing ceremony which truly were great highlights of our ceremony. White cathedral candles brought a traditional and romantic feel to the outdoor venue that we chose. Having our whole bridal party in grey was of great importance to us as we liked how timeless grey was in comparison to a hue of vibrant color. Hand-poured soy candles as favors were our way of sending a piece of our wedding home with our guests. We hand-collected each jar, peeled the adhered sticker off, fragranced the wax, poured candles for our guests to take home. We asked our friend Maddie Seling to help us hand-paint personalized signs for both the ceremony and reception. I had picked all the item on the menu, it was of utmost importance to me that the food and beverages reflected our appreciation for food. We served a delicious herbed chicken, artisan said, ricotta-spinach ravioli, and a butternut squash creme sauce that I made with one of my friends.

The vessels for the florals were thrifted by my fiancé and at thrift stores scattered all throughout the Palm Springs area. Our amazing florist, Gabi Bridges of Pick Tulip, foraged a lot of our florals which added the most special touch to the florals. We liked the organic look of the canvas drop cloths and found that they were more unique than just the average tablecloth. I found these from a company called World Paint Supply and pieced them together according to the table size. I accented the organic canvas with a natural gauze that I purchased in bulk from a disturber in LA. All the furniture pieces featured at our wedding were loaned to us by a countless number of our dear friends. Our wedding truly was a labor of love!

My favorite moment was the end of the ceremony when my new husband and I were finally pronounced as husband and wife. I remember him holding me close and saying “my wife, my wife, my wife”. That is a moment I never want to forget.

The One Style Tip We’re Stealing from Candice Swanepoel

Confession: Stalking Victoria’s Secret models is my guilty pleasure. Not reality TV or ice cream, but following along with beauties like Candice Swanepoel on Instagram? Total spare time indulgence, or rather, style education! The one fashion trend I’ll be stealing from Candice this summer is high waisted bottoms paired with tucked in tops. You might be thinking that’s sooo 90’s, but beauties, the high waist + tuck is back and it’s hotter than ever.

A Festival-Inspired Wedding Chicer than Anything You’d See at Coachella

After a formal Greek Orthodox church ceremony, this gorgeous Bride and Groom decided to change things up with their cocktail hour and reception, drawing inspiration from the outdoor festivals they love. From the dancing under the stars to the whimsical touches throughout, this duo definitely achieved their vision of a “rustic chic day with a casual, yet elegant vibe.” See how it all came together thanks to Lori Paladino Photography and Lovespun Handmade Wedding Films in The Vault!

From The Bride…Our vision for our wedding was rustic chic with a casual yet elegant vibe. How did we manage to come up with that one? I am from New York and Emmett is from Petaluma, so we each wanted varying elements incorporated. It also describes our personalities to perfection! Many of our guests were traveling from out of town so we wanted them to feel comfortable and be able to enjoy the entire day into the evening. Since we had a very formal ceremony at a Greek Orthodox church, we wanted to give our guests a change of scene for cocktail hour. Our inspiration was from outdoor festivals that we both really enjoy. We had lots of food and drink, a bluegrass band and very rustic décor. When moving over to the main reception, we still wanted to keep the casual vibe going which is why we elected to have the entire reception outside with no tent. Those California stars certainly helped make that decision!! We did a mix of farm table and round with varying arrangement on the table to give depth and a garden element to the evening. Lighting was very important to us, so went spent a lot of time designing the lighting over the table as well as around the entire space. The floating candles with the orchids and chandeliers gave us our elegant vibes. We also had a big band feel, with the stage and dance floor as the focal point of everything! We really wanted the whole event to be about everyone we love, who made such an effort to be there for us that day! We are so happy we decided to get a live event painter to capture our amazing day!! It was really fun for our guests to see it in action and it is now hanging in our home. We tried to time everything so that the schedule speeches and dances would be done throughout dinner so that everyone could enjoy the rest of the evening at their leisure. We has fire pits with s’mores, cigar rolling, port, dancing and plenty of dessert. We really wanted everyone to find something that made them happy! We decided to do a bubble exit instead of sparklers because of the drought. Plus, Emmett is a firefighter so the sparkler were a no go! Overall, we had a magical evening and could not have asked for anything more.

I wanted a really fun party that was beautiful, but encourage our guests to move around and be comfortable and social!

I really wanted a rustic chic with a casual elegance. I chose blush, champagne, peach and some natural greens. Those were the perfect colors for me! I did not want to overpower the gorgeous lawn with bright pops of colors, but I wanted soft element to highlight what was already a beautiful canvas.

The bar’s were definitely a highlight for me, and not I don’t mean the wine bars (those were cool too!). S’more’s Bar, Port Bar, Coffee Bar, Dessert Bar all brought different elements and activities for our guests. That was really cool to see come to life! I also really loved the lighting. From the up lite red woods to the grape vine chandeliers, everything really came together and my vision truly came to life!

One of my favorite moment was being with my new husband in our vintage car ride from the church to the vineyard! There was so much to be happy about, and yet still so much to look forward to. My heart was exploding!!! Another huge highlight for me was the traditional Greek dancing. To see all my guests come together on the dance floor was really special!

I LOVE flowers, but it was also important for me select a green florist. Heather and I worked together designing simple yet elegant centerpieces and many other design element for the space throughout. Heather grows many of her own flowers on her cutting garden, recycles, donates arrangement to charity after events and gives back to the community. These were all important to both Emmett and I, so this was a no brainer! In lieu of favors we decided to donate to charity. We chose Shriners Burn Center, since Emmett is a firefighter that was special for both of us as well many of our guests. Our cake was something that we wanted to keep very simple, which is why we decided to do a naked cake. We did an organic coco velvet, we only like to serve our loved ones the best ingredients! Our focus was definitely on the variety of the dessert bar. Last but definitely not least is the dress! I wanted something very simple yet elegant. My dress was Badgley Mischka, and my favorite element was definitely the ruffled back. When I got the dress is was plain and I did want to bring a little more of that elegant feel to it, so I decided to go to Britex in downtown SF and buy some French lace. I had that added to the bottom of my dress as well as to the veil I had made. (Irina’s Sewing Shop Walnut Creek) It was really awesome because I felt like I had added my own little design touch to my dress.

My advice to Brides would be to take it all in and enjoy the day. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but from the moment I woke up to the moment my head hit the pillow (much later) that night I didn’t worry about a thing. I sort of handed it over to the universe and it really was for the best!

Step Back in Time with This Art Nouveau Inspiration

This inspiration is what I’d like my life to look like – can someone arrange that? If not, I’ll be taking up residence in The Vault until my dreams become reality. Because with the talented Sophie Epton Photography behind the lens snapping up the beauty that is The Contemporary Art Museum At Laguna Gloria, well let’s just say that it’s a gallery fit for daydreams. See it all in The Vault!

From Sophie Epton PhotographyMeghan is a natural beauty inside and out, and when I saw her wedding dress, I was so inspired by the intricate beading and sweeping shapes; I felt like I had stepped into an Art Nouveau film, and immediately knew the art movement would be the inspiration for her bridal! For our backdrop we chose Laguna Gloria, an incredible wedding venue in Austin, Texas built in 1916 to depict an Italian villa. The gorgeous sweeping greenery combined with the architectural stone railings paired perfectly with the ethereal feel of the shoot. Rosehip Flora provided the ideal bouquet of loose, whimsical blooms that worked so well with the color and shape of the dress, and Meghan’s look was finished off with soft but dramatic hair and makeup by Makenzi Laine. Although it was a windy day, the light coming through the greenery and movement created by the wind made for a stunning shoot that depicts a modern-day wedding interpretation of such a great art movement in history.

The Ultimate Boho Chic Beach Wedding

What could be better than the ultimate boho chic beach wedding? How about if said celebration is actually a wedding wrapped up in the ultimate vacation. Now that my darlings is what we like to call a win-win wedding scenario. With Ana Lui Photography behind the lens capturing every moment of merriment, this is one gallery you’re going to find yourself escaping to time and time again. See it all in The Vault!

From Ana Lui PhotographyCelia and Jon both live in Australia but have most of their family still living in the UK. They fell in love with Ibiza few years back and had decided to organize their wedding on the beautiful white island. Celia told me they both decided to book me because four years ago I have taken a party snap of the two of them, during IMS Music Festival in Ibiza, and it was the best photo of the two of them! She found me online and loved my wedding portfolio. They both were very laid back and Celia knew exactly what she wanted in terms of deco, look and vibe. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Amante Beach Club, near Santa Eulalia. Amante is famous for its amazing sea view, privacy and gorgeous food! We managed to quickly sneak off to the pebble beach of Sol Den Serra and take few shots of the “novios”. After that it was all about good food, great wine and dancing!

From Love Life Images… Kevin and Susie have a love story that goes way back. They met when they were only 5 years old, and were great friends until age 12, when Susie’s family moved to St. Louis. The pair lost touch and didn’t see each other again until age 22. After reconnecting, the pair starting dating shortly after, and it’s their early friendship that will bond them in marriage for years to come.

Their wedding was a celebration of friends and family, having siblings and childhood friends in the bridal party. With their wedding on New Year’s Eve, they knew their wedding celebration would need to be an exciting and fun affair, and thanks to ATrendy Wedding, their guests were treated to an amazing evening.

Kevin was a member of the Lehigh University choir and many of the guests were also members, so as a special honor, the choir sang ‘Ave Maria’ during the ceremony. The Fairmont was a gorgeous location for first look portraits and the wedding reception. Georgetown University and the town homes around the area provided a fun backdrop for bridal party photos. The evening ended with a bang at midnight where guests celebrated ringing in the new year with champagne and confetti!

Insider Tips to Pull Off A White-On-White Celebration

I love a pop of color as much as the next girl, but sometimes there’s no better color palette than no color at all. *Enter* the event design gurus at Easton Events who so graciously offered to walk us through their tips and tricks to planning an all-white party. Whether a bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or just a casual summer dinner party, there are a million reasons to opt for white-on-white and today we’re showing you how. Thanks, Lucy Cuneo for the pretty snaps sitting all right here!

MIX TEXTURES + SHAPES

Mixing textures and shapes is the ultimate trick to dressing your table in white on white. For this particular event, we paired a vintage lace tablecloth with stacked french porcelains. The porcelain collection varies in patterns and style so we mixed them for each place setting. This technique added interest, but because the palette is tonal, the mixture never felt distracting to the eye! Likewise, the heirloom silver and cut crystal champagne coupes have intricate detailing, but given the neutral palette, the designs on the whole are balanced and not overly busy.

PLAY WITH SHADES

Explore different shades and tones of white – some of the most beautiful white floral arrangements range from bright white to soft cream just like the phalaenopsis orchids compared to the soft cream garden roses. You need subtle change in tone or texture to add depth and interest to your design.

PULL IN SILVER

When working with a clean white palette, we think silver is the softest approach for flatware and vessels. It never hurts to mix in your favorite mother of pearl touches too!

PLAY UP THE MENU

Embrace the theme with your menu! For this southern brunch we chose to serve a beautiful cheese board, deviled eggs, buttered baby radishes, cauliflower panna cotta, and a tres leches dessert. The culinary palette was not purely white, but we certainly gave the theme a gentle nod.

DON’T FORGET THE BUBBLY

A white-on-white soiree is the perfect opportunity for white wine and champagne… which also makes it a well-suited brunch or luncheon look!

How to Deal With Outside Opinions While Wedding Planning

There’s no way around it, when planning a wedding you’re bound to run into a few Negative Nancys. You know the type – the people dishing out unsolicited advice or better ways of designing YOUR day. Fear not brides because our girl Kristin Joy of Bridentity Crisis is here to teach you simple ways to tune out the haters and enjoy every second of the planning journey.

From Bridentity CrisisFor a day that is supposed to be about you and your significant other, it seems like everyone has an opinion on your wedding: parents, siblings, friends, bridesmaids—even my mailman weighed in on my big day decisions when, after seeing my save-the-dates, he mentioned that he would prefer if I use a more legible font for the invitation envelopes. I was shocked! But it made me realize that if I wanted to survive this wedding planning process, I was going to need to learn to cope with stressful people in an effective and easy way. So my wedding gift to you: 3 tips on how to deal with stressful people when planning your wedding.

[dotted]

When you receive an unwanted opinion, learn to nod, smile…and politely ignore it

You may want to tell off anyone who asks about your wedding plans and then volunteers their “better” idea, but rather than try to defend your decisions, I suggest just playing along. Give them a line like, “Good suggestion, I hadn’t thought of that…” and swiftly change the subject. Because odds are if someone feels comfortable enough offering up their thoughts on something that is clearly none of their business, then they probably aren’t going to respect that your mind is made up, either. But by acknowledging their comments you will make them feel like they’ve helped, which is what their intentions were all along. And it will quickly shut down an awkward convo!

[dotted]

Surround Yourself with Positive Personality Types

I think every bride should stack her wedding party with a few different people: someone who will help her remain calm when things get crazy, someone who will listen to her when she’s stressed, and someone who will help her to laugh and enjoy the day. Whether it’s your maid of honor, a fun-loving groomsmen, or even your MIL-to-be, you’ll be happy that you’ve gathered a group of people who truly have your best interest at heart when things get overwhelming.

[dotted]

Only Book People and Vendors That You WANT to Work With

An easy way to avoid unnecessary stress? By actually liking your vendors. It sounds like a no-brainer, but I’ve seen so many people book vendors because their friend used them at their wedding or because they’ve read good reviews online. But the reality is, not everyone is looking for the same qualities in their team of professionals—your friend may enjoy a drill sergeant-esque wedding planner while you prefer someone a little more friendly. Truth be told, if I would’ve taken this advice to heart, I would have had some major changes in my vendor lineup. So think about what you want out of a vendor and your experience with that person, and keep that in mind as you meet. Because the last thing you want is to book someone who will add to your stress, not take it away.

Happy wedding planning! xoxo, Bridentity Crisis
