A Private Estate Wedding Inspired by the Couple’s Favorite Travel Destinations

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]It was really important to me not to have “wedding colors”. I love color and different saturations of color, so I wanted to capture colors through the drinks (Aperol spritz) and the flowers. Which looked like a farmers’ market, all color everywhere. Same with the bridesmaids’ dresses. I wanted a mix of different colors, textures, patterns and saturation.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We wanted the wedding to feel very European, but more of a mix illustrating all the traveling we have done together. Our first trip together was to London, we walked to Regency Park and I admired the rose gardens, so I wanted the flowers to feel like an English Garden. And for the drinks, we spent time in the Amalfi Coast and sipped on Aperol Spritz all day long. Another trip we took was to Provence in France, we spent many dinners outside under trees surrounded by olive trees and flowers. We wanted to recreate it all!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We love taking weekend trips upstate to get ourselves out of the city. One town in particular we love is Hudson, NY. On our first time in the adorable cabin we rented, we got ready for dinner and while I was calling us a car, Lach stood behind, dropped to a knee and said “you may want to hold on that, I think we have some other calls to make”. I cried instantly and don’t remember much past that, I was in shock. We went to the most beautiful dinner at The Marker and drank champagne and danced the night away.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The Bride wore the “Soleil Gown” by Monique Lhuillier. She was never drawn to an overly traditional gown. She wanted something that “felt like me”. From the delicate floral accents and romantic draping to the high fashion high slit, that dress was always the one. She loved everything about it. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids wore A mix of V.Chapman, Staud and Love Shack Fancy to mirror the colorful ethereal vibe of the day. The bride didn’t want the girls to feel like they were in “bridesmaids” dresses, she “wanted them to feel fabulous”.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groom (P Johnson – an Australian designer. ) and his groomsmen all wore black tuxes to fit the formal attire of the wedding. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Kelley and Lachlan wanted to combine traditional American cuisine with Australian cuisine (for the Groom and his Family/friends) and pops of Italian inspired cuisine because of their love of the Amalfi Coast. Fresh From the Kitchen took their vision and made it more than they could have imagined.
Fresh from the kitchen had a Oyster Raw Bar at cocktail hour to complement the stunning Aperol Spritz table. The Aperol spritz table was a focal point of the cocktail hour and was used to showcase their love of the Drink and travels to Italy.
The Signature cocktails were from their current home and love of New York, The East and West village.
Thie plated dinner consisted of
Rosemary and Garlic Lamb with fingerling potatoes, Parmesan crusted halibut with Wild Mushroom Risotto, and Butternut Squash Ravioli.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From Haleigh with Flora by Haleigh. As soon as I saw a picture of Kelly in her dress, I knew exactly what she was envisioning for their wedding. It was soft, romantic, classic- and completely flirty. I wanted to play into these themes while designing floral and the color palette. Kelly knew exactly what she wanted. She loved a growing purple aisle paired with a soft pink Altar. She wanted olive branches overflowing from the urns. We wanted the tables to feel like a cohesive afterthought, almost like we had gathered all the floral in a field just before dinner. The family’s estate and their love for the south of France were both truly an inspiration![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The bride and groom chose a white wedding cake adorned with dried flowers to match the ceremony flowers. They wedding party took an individual photo of each of them before the ceremony, before they saw each other, and the design team placed it on the cake for them to see when they cut the cake. [/field]

The Bride walked down the aisle to Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams. Here is why she chose that song.
We took our first trip together upstate to the Catskills, renting a cute cabin in the woods, it felt like something Taylor Swift would like a love baland to. This was the first trip we said “I love you” I remember crying because I hadn’t said those words to someone that I cared about as much as I cared about him before. Driving around in the woods, we listened Taylor Swift and sang along to “Wildest Dreams” looking around at the leaves and him by my side, I thought “I want to walk down the aisle to this song” because this moment was perfect. On the day of our wedding the moment the string quartet hit the notes of the song, my heart fluttered. As I walked down the aisle, my father squeezed my hand and told me not to cry, I was so happy seeing Lach at the end of the aisle waiting for me. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine that this love would be mine.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The wedding was held at the recently renovated home of the Bride’s parents. Bill and Susan Roach.

On April 13th, 2024, Kelley Roach and Lachlan Travers married each other at a French-inspired home in Paradise Valley, AZ. The bride was fortunate to have her wedding in a home that holds a special story. Purchased by her parents and completely renovated/decorated by her mother, Susan, the estate was meticulously prepared for the wedding. From the interior design to the landscaping, Susan ensured every detail was perfect. Enter Kelley, a talented interior designer from New York, who took the already beautiful home and transformed it into a vision of her wildest dreams. The wedding featured a curved aisle adorned with vibrant florals and a European-inspired table set for 110 guests, creating a scene straight out of a French countryside fairy tale.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Instead of the traditional champagne welcome or water table, the guests were greeted by a display of ice-cold Topo Chicos. Another favorite of the couple. The bride’s nephews greeted the guests, opened the bottles for them and then ushered them to the ceremony site. [/field]

Bride Wears Mother’s 1989 Dress to Her Romantic Duke Mansion Wedding

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We were inspired by the classic style of the Duke Mansion and its gardens. A colorful, bright, and cheery spring inspired our color pallet. Rather than pinpointing specific inspiration photos or weddings, we placed trust in our vendors to bring to life a day completely unique to us. We believe that the people make the place (or, in this case, the event) and that when the day finally arrives, the perfect theme and style will be one created by the presence of our loved ones and influenced by the energy and joy they bring.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met at Clemson during our freshmen year orientation—randomly assigned to the same small group for welcome week activities. Although we didn’t hit it off right away, thankfully mutual friends later brought our social circles together. We started hanging out in group settings throughout freshman year and it didn’t take long for us to become great friends and eventually a couple. After we graduated from Clemson and settled in our home city, Charlotte, Ethan proposed at his family’s lake house where we spent a lot of special time growing our relationship during the pandemic when campus was closed. Mary is notoriously hard to surprise, but not only did Ethan pull of the surprise proposal, he made it even sweeter by having all of their friends in on a surprise after party![/field]

Mary’s Reception dress was a beaded gown by Jane Hill — she thought it was the perfect juxtaposition from her mother’s gown and also that it perfectly matched the aura of the Duke Mansion.[/field]

For dinner, the first course was a fresh watermelon and arugula salad. Then the second course was a duo of beef tenderloin and Charleston crabcake. We also had a coffee station with coordinating “Let Love Brew” signage.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Amanda at Viri Lovely Designs created beautiful cohesion with the use of her hand-drawn colorful floral print seen throughout the space on the phone booth and bar vinyls, the signage and even the cards on which we wrote each other handwritten letters the morning of our big day. The real flowers were a show stopper: two of our favorites being the oversized bar arrangement for cocktail hour and luscious cascading orchids on the cake. [/field]

Elaine worked throughout the evening and completed a gorgeous, colorful painting of us on the venue staircase that we now have hanging in our home. And Maggie completed sketches of our guests for them to take home and even made an electronic version of each sketch to serve as a guest book for us! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We provided recipe cards, similar in style to ones we already had at home, but with Amanda’s special floral pattern to remind us of our wedding, for guests to share their special family recipes with our new family.[/field]

A Coastal Wedding Complete With Earthy Blooms at the Ocean Course

Hosted at The Ocean Course golf course on Kiawah Island, their venue boasted views of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as indoor spaces with coastal-style architecture. [/field]

The couple met through mutual friends and quickly began a relationship together. They were engaged at their daughter’s third birthday party, which Maggie recounts as a complete surprise.[/field]

The misty afternoon left a romantic haze along the coastline, where the floral-lined aisle looked out beyond their archway across the waters. Sweet floral arrangements were a standout, which focused on smaller blooms that honored a rustic approach to design. Beneath their outdoor reception tent, they hosted dinner, set with wicker chairs, creamy linens, and black accents.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Maggie’s dress and veil served as inspiration for the floral design on their wedding cake, a five-tiered masterpiece with delicate icing florals that trailed down the sides.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Maggie walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of a Top Gun song; “I’m not even sure anyone noticed, but I will never forget.”[/field]

Ocean Air Bliss and Coastal Design at Watchmere in Martha’s Vineyard

[field title=”The Inspiration”]Martha’s Vineyard in the summer is nothing short of a dream. The weather is phenomenal, the crowds are lively, and there is just an essence of enjoyment in the ocean air. The only thing more magical than spending a day on Martha’s Vineyard is spending a day attending a wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. The couple wanted to share the love of the area with the guest through the design. This was truly the inspiration behind the whole event.

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Their colors were shades of blue and green which gave resemblance to the natural landscape.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Jill & Marek, our bride and groom, hosted their guests on the Vineyard for a coastal, New England style affair. Watchmere has it all. The guest favorites were the comfortable coastal guest poolside seating and iconic canvas tent with waving flags.[/field]

This Tomato-Inspired Affair at Chez Balliet Is All the Rehearsal Dinner Inspo You’ll Need

As a previous event designer / planner in my former life when I first started my business back in 2010/11, I have so much gratitude in my heart for the planning and event design side of weddings. It take so much heart, hard work, patience and a million things in between.

When I switched my focus entirely to floristry about years into my career, there were so many incredible connections and planners who came alongside me in support of my direction and linked me up with some incredible clients/weddings along the way :) Now, as I largely work directly with planners for the majority of the events I get to flower, I wanted to throw a special dinner event as a thank you to so many of the incredible event designers and planners I’m honored enough to work with on a regular basis.

I’m also Italian :) And a major summer / tomato / lover of the color red. Having eloped in Puglia a year prior to this dinner, I really wanted to showcase some of the inspiration I gathered there and the entire inspiration for this event came from that area + these insanely gorgeous plates that The Ark had in their inventory! I built the rest of the rental and tabletop choices around them, as well as the flower gameplan and we ended up with a tomato and chartreuse inspired tablescape full of dynamic shape and color.

I incorporated strung tomatoes throughout, currant tomato vines, green curly garlic stems, chartreuse amaranthus, rusty red kangaroo paw, and bright red gloriosa lilies for the flowers

The specialty cocktail were fresh, summer and Italian-inspired again of course with Spritzes and Italian wines (except for the Mystic Rabbit Margarita from MIHO’s drink program which is just a favorite of mine / had to have it :))

The plates from the Ark are hand thrown ceramics made in the Puglia region of Italy. Truly Italian Summer Inspiration and warmth were at the heart of every design choice.

I got to partner with my sweet friend Lindsey from MIHO on the planning aspect and she also helped majorly to bring some of my ideas to life! Heather + Troy from Amorology / Chez Balliet were kind enough to host all of us. The Ark provided gorgeous rentals for the tabletop as well as the tables and seating, and our incredible pals at Folklore Rentals / Catalog Atelier helped with the beautiful pergolas, linens and barware. I still dream about / have saved the gorgeous menus from Emily J. Snyder and of course, Kelly Brown captured everything with her perfect eye for details and color. 

The best part of all of this was getting to partner with so many vendors that I absolutely adore in order to honor / thank so many talented planner friends whom I also adore. It was a fun summer evening of really amazing food, drinks and backyard-italian inspired joy. And I hope all of the gratitude for all of these wonderful humans was felt down to the very core <3

An Intimate Garden Party Complete With a Soft Pastel Palette at Macarthur Place Hotel and Spa

When we first started planning with Kiki & John they were clear about wanting to create a romantic and inviting intimate garden party with a focus on a soft pastel color palette. Their venue, Macarthur Place, was the perfect location for that intimate party, and from there we collaborated with their floral team, Freckled Floral, to create a modern take on a pastel palette. We focused on color blocking, we repurposed ceremony florals to dinner, and we added texture to the dinner table design.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]John had planned with the resort staff and photographers for a beach proposal that evening. John casually said he had passed through the lobby and asked the resort about their photography sessions and told me it was complimentary with our stay. So I thought we might as well take a few photos before our dinner to take a few vacation photos back with us. We began the shoot on the resort property in some of the gardens and made our way to the beach. The photographer told me she would like to take some solo shots of me walking down the beach looking off into the ocean. She instructed me to walk away and on the count of three she would get a candid look back shot, however when I turned around there was John, down on one knee! He said the sweetest speech and asked “will you marry me” to which I said “yes”! It was the sweetest proposal! We then finished our dinner date at the Alaia restaurant on the resort and celebrated! When we returned home to Houston, Texas a few days later John set up a surprise engagement party with my closest friends and family! [/field]

A Private Estate Wedding in Napa Brimming With Custom Details

After the ceremony, Michelle and Max headed to the reception via the most epic getaway car: the original DB2 Aston Martin that Ian Flemming writes about in his books – surprise from Michelle for major James Bond fan Max! Their reception was held at Max’s family’s private property. Max’s father, architectural designer Mark Becker, custom designed and built their gorgeous bar focal moment. Olive oil favors were gifted in honor of the property resting on olive groves.[/field]

Abundant Peachy Blooms in the Vermont Hillsides at the Inn at Burklyn

The Inn at Burklyn provided a historic, Neoclassical-style grand mansion for their day. The property also offered stunning blooms as Larisa posed for bridal portraits among the hydrangeas and white Vermont veronicas.[/field]

Larisa and Kevin met while working a dysfunctional job together in 2018. They jokingly bonded while doing mock interviews together for new employers. While their jobs didn’t last, they do owe it to the experience for bringing them together. In 2022, Larisa left for a month of work in another city. Kevin stayed at their home with their two dogs and cat and knew it didn’t feel the same having Larisa away. When he visited Larisa at the end of her trip, he proposed.

The couple’s ceremony arch put on a free-spirited display of peachy orange blooms and wild reaches of greenery, while beautifully framing the landscape. An escort card display greeted their guests inside the reception tent, created from a rattan room divider and golden frames of pressed flowers. Each wooden table included a boldly patterned fabric runner and a continuous flow of floral arrangements down the center. From above hung a remarkable flower and chandelier display, with individual buds strung on clear lines in a whimsical and inspiring design.

Larisa recounts her family’s connection to the wedding location: “Our venue was the Inn at Burklyn in East Burke, VT, and my mom grew up in Lyndonville, which was one town over. They moved there initially for my grandfather’s job teaching at the local college, but their small apartment couldn’t hold his grand piano (which he loved and played regularly). At the time, the college owned the building that would later become the Inn at Burklyn, and they offered to house the piano there for him. Every weekend, my mom and her sister would go there with my grandfather, and they would play on the grounds while he practiced. Later on, the college sold the building to the new owners of the Inn, who renovated it into the most beautiful Inn I’ve ever seen!”

The couple’s best wedding planning advice? “If it’s in the budget, I can’t stress enough the importance of having a good wedding planner! There are so many little details that go into planning a wedding that I know without a doubt I would have missed if it weren’t for Jackie. She also made sure that everything on the day of the wedding went smoothly and every detail had been taken care of (even though she’d had emergency surgery the day before!!). I truly believe the planning experience and wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect, and I know I have Jackie to thank for that!”

A Breathtaking Ceremony at Villa D’Este and Reception at Villa Erba on Lake Como

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Mainly navy, white, and gold, with some other blues incorporated. We really wanted it to reflect and amplify the amazing setting we got married in, and being from New York City and London, I’m not exactly drawn to a lot of bright colors.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We felt that when you get married in a place as beautiful as Lake Como, especially the Villa d’Este Gardens and Villa Erba, you really can’t do anything to compare. So, we were really focused on highlighting the history and beauty of the area. We chose to get married in Lake Como because my family had been many times, starting when my parents first went in the mid 1980s, and something that my now husband and I bonded over from the first day we met was our love of food and cooking, especially our favorite cuisine, Italian. So, we wanted the design to reflect the area and for the vibe to be as elegant as the location, but still as fun, warm, and friendly as we have found the Italian people to be. We also really wanted the wedding to reflect who we are and provide us an opportunity to share the things we love with the people we love. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]William and I met and began dating in 2014 while studying at Vanderbilt University. Since we had begun dating, traveling was something we had talked about a lot as a shared interest, and I had expressed my long-held desire to see the Northern Lights. Fast forward to my birthday, January, of 2022, when William said my gift was a trip to Iceland to do exactly that. I had an inkling that he was going to propose that trip, but it was further confirmed when he politely insisted that I “can’t be here for this” when his bag got pulled by security at Newark Airport. We had an amazing few days exploring Iceland before we went with Páll Jökull Pétursson, a photographer and Northern Lights Guide, to go try to see the Northern Lights. After a few hours, we still hadn’t seen the lights, and I was freezing. William kept insisting on waiting a little longer, hovering over Paul while he inspected his phone apps tracking elements that contribute to seeing the Northern Lights. Finally, I said it was time to go home and William agreed. Unbenounced to me, he was planning on proposing that night in front of the lights. The ironic part of this is that we got photos from our friends living in New York City that night of the lights. The next day, I had done some calculations of the remainder of our itinerary and figured he had to propose that day if he was going to on this trip. To make him sweat a little, I announced that I would be wearing athletic clothes and not wash my hair that morning. He gently said that he would be wearing what he wore to dinner the night before and that our activities that day would not be too strenuous so I wouldn’t need to wash my hair after. We did an incredible glacier hike in the morning, which was luckily, not too strenuous. Then, we spent about an hour searching for lunch with no avail, and he was insistent that we had to be at the next spot exactly at 1pm. This was a dead giveaway as the next spot was a gorgeous lookout and did not require any strict timing. As we walked to the outlook, hand-in-hand, I noticed his hand was starting to dampen and he was fidgeting. My heart started to flutter. A normally calm, cool, and collected man was clearly nervous, and it wasn’t of heights. We walked around the stunning outlook, and he waited until a visiting couple was out of the way of one spot, clearly popular for pictures. We stood there for a moment, both hearts racing, and he told me to take a step forward and turn around so he could get “a really cool picture.” We normally don’t take many pictures of each other or together, and I remember my brother-in-law saying something similar to my sister when he proposed, so I dutifully took that step and turned my back to him. A few seconds later, with a shaky voice, he asked me to turn around. When I did, he was on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I said yes. After a couple minutes and some applause from our fellow tourists, Páll came over and congratulated us, and then asked if I had noticed he was there. He said he purposefully wore a different jacket, a bright orange windbreaker, to conceal his identity. Although that may not have been the most inconspicuous outfit, he did his job and I did not notice it was him. He proceeded to take some more stunning photos and gave us a few books on Icelandic photography, one which was his own, as a gift and bid us adieu to celebrate in the beautiful Icelandic countryside. Later, I found out that after we didn’t see the Northern Lights the night before, he and Páll worked together to figure out the odds of seeing them on the rest of our trip (which were low), and then Páll recommended he propose at what was his favorite spot, as you could see almost all the geography Iceland has to offer: the sea, the black sand beach, the meadows, and the snow capped mountains. [/field]

I wanted a dress worthy and reflective of the atmosphere, and since we’d be getting married in October, while we hoped it would be warm, we couldn’t be sure, so I wanted something with the options of sleeves that I could wear for the ceremony, but wouldn’t restrain me for the rest of the event. I also wanted a dress that stood out against others that I had seen. I loved the lace pattern and how it was so intentionally placed along the bodice and skirt. I loved the way the straps almost blended into my skin, so that the sleeves looked like part of the dress, as opposed to a jacket, and when I took the jacket off during the reception, the dress didn’t look like it had straps, but had all the support. They also made the lace flowers and leaves look almost like they grew independently of the dress. I loved that the dress wasn’t pure white, but seemed to move with and reflect the light. I remember doing an initial look on Instagram while traveling to my sister’s wedding in September of 2022. I saw it on Monique Lluillier’s page and immediately fell in love with it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. William and I had recently moved to Atlanta, and I wanted to try to get my dress there so I wouldn’t have to travel for my fittings. The only boutique in town that carries Monique Lluillier’s dresses didn’t have it in the store, so I tried on probably close to 100 dresses. I found some truly stunning pieces, but still couldn’t get Maeve out of my mind. So, my mom and mother-in-law worked together while we were together for Christmas to make sure that I could try it on either in Atlanta, or Charlotte, NC, where my in-laws live, so I wouldn’t have to fly to New York in my last semester of graduate school. The boutique in Atlanta was able to get it shipped from the Monique Lluillier store in New York, and when I tried it on I fell in love. I ended up purchasing it at Alexis Bridal in Charlotte, NC, and the skilled team at Custom Bridal Modifications in Atlanta did the fittings. Thanks also to the help of the artists at Dawn Artists and The Stylish Bride, I felt so beautiful and so comfortable in my dress.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I simply told my bridesmaids to wear a black tie navy dress. I wanted everyone to feel beautiful and comfortable, and I wanted them to be able to wear something they already had or be able to wear the dress again. Since we were getting married abroad, I wanted to ensure their bridesmaid dress was not an additional burden. I love the color navy and think it looks great on everyone. I wanted a mix of patterns and solids and to have some variety in textures. Luckily, my bridesmaids did a great job and, thanks in part to my sister India, who was my Matron of Honor, I thought the dresses came together to look amazing all together. The artists from Dawn Artists provided hair and makeup to my bridesmaids and my mom’s good friend, Andreas Wild did my sister and mom’s hair.[/field]

When we went to London, which is where I spent most of my childhood, before our site visit, we went to their Mayfair store with both our parents to start the process, and he did his fittings at their New York City location. Food is a major passion of ours, especially Italian food, so we really wanted it to be a main focus and be a way to share what we love with our guests. We had come across an Instagram account of a catering company, Creative Edge Parties, years ago, and during one of our first wedding planning meetings, we mentioned we wanted to recreate their vibe. Our lead wedding planner, Lynn Easton, then revealed that Carla Ruben, the President, Founder, and Creative Director, of Creative Edge was one of her good friends. We were then able to hire Carla and her colleague Rosamaria Molina as consultants to work with CLASS Eventi and Villa d’Este to make all our food dreams come true. Our horderves represented a mix of our favorites in Italian cuisine and a reflection of where we are from and where we have lived. They included: caviar cannolis, arancini, personalized pastrami sandwiches, salmon tartare, tuna tartare, burrata with dehydrated olives, vegetables “pinzimonio,” and an elevated twist on fish and chips. For dinner, we started with an amuse bouche of a parmesan custard and black truffle pâté with parmesan snow in the signature Creative Edge golden egg. It was followed by caged burrata, which was an heirloom tomato and burrata salad with muhammara pesto and balsamic pearls in a puff pastry dome. The second course was a pasta trio, served Russian style, of campanelle al limone, rigatoni arrabbiata, and orecchiette pesto. For the main course, guests were served veal Milanese with root vegetable shavings and charred lemon vinaigrette, and those who did not eat meat were served monkfish or eggplant parmesan. After the cake was cut, we passed desserts around the dance floor, consisting of teramissu push pops, raspberry puree with panna cotta, mini pistachio milkshakes with biscotti, donut holes with a choice of sauces, and warm chocolate chip cookies. Our “late night food” were mini Philly cheesesteaks and mini pizzas served in a box with our beloved dog’s face on it.

CLASS also helped us with our wine. Wine is another thing that William and I are passionate about, and Italian wine is our favorite, so it was important to us to share some of our favorites with our guests and also to include wine native to the region. We served a Merlot from Cantina La-Vis in Trentino, Italy, just east of Lake Como, and a Rosso di Montepulciano from Azienda Agricola Poliziano, near Siena. The white wine we served was a Lugana from Zenato near Lake Garda, and a Vermentino from Cantina Pala in Sardinia. For cocktails, Glauco Noseda and his talented team at SPUMA worked with my cousin, Nick Horton, and us to create an innovative and complex signature cocktail list that did not hold up any bar lines. While in London before our site visit, we went with Nick, his brother, and his brother’s wife to the Nomad Hotel bar, which my Nick helped open to try some of his signature cocktails. We chose cocktails that we loved, were versions of our favorite cocktails, and that represented Italy. We named the cocktails after places and things that were important to us and our love story. We had “The Tin Roof,” named after a bar we frequented in college, which was a play on a tequila espresso martini, “Gin Lane,” one of Nick’s signature cocktails named after a street my parents live on, which is a cucumber, mint, and citrus gin drink, “Oscar’s Socks,” named after our dog’s favorite snack, a gin drink with Italicus and Cocchi Americano, to highlight Italian flavors, “TBT at ZBT,” named after the party William and Charlotte met at, which was a spicy negroni, and “Anchor Down,” a catchphrase of Vanderbilt University, where William and I met, which was essentially a Limoncello spritz. Glauco and his team also made incredible cocktails to order and manned a martini bar and the ever popular tequila shot cart on the dance floor. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We knew we didn’t want too much elaborate floral and decor to take away from the stunning venues, we simply wanted to highlight the spaces. We also wanted a lot of candles to help set a romantic and elegant mood that reflected the settings. Liz Griffith, of Siloh Floral, joined us to consult with floral and decor and Ratti Flora to help elevate the spaces. We used mainly white and green florals and white, long candles in clear glass candle sticks of varying heights, and a mix of white and transparent plates with gold accents to set the stage for dinner. They filled the grand staircase at Villa Erba with a mass of white and green florals and candles on either side to create a truly stunning grand centerpiece of the dance floor.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Como based Lisa Bakery made us a delicious and beautiful cake. We wanted the design to reflect our general aesthetic: simple to highlight the surroundings. The cake was white, four tiered, with white and light pink flowers and greenery on one side. It was Vanilla with Pistachio cream and a filling of strawberry jam, with a layer of pistachio praline. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our good friend, Will Henderson, officiated the wedding, and William and my mothers did readings of their choosing. The pre-ceremony music was instrumental versions of popular songs. The family processed to “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles, both a beautiful song, and a nod to where Charlotte grew up, near Abbey Road. The wedding party processed to “All of Me” by John Legend, as he is said to have written it at Villa d’Este. My dad and I walked down the aisle to “Edelweiss,” as that is a song that he always used to sing to my sister and me growing up. My sister, the Matron of Honor, William’s brother, the Best Man, and my dad made unforgettable speeches during dinner. William and my first dance song was “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis. We thought this song was beautiful and grand enough to reflect the stunning dance floor at Villa Erba. My dance with my dad was to “Paradise City” by Guns ‘n Roses, a favorite song and band of my family, and one that we used to sing in the car all the time. William and his mom’s dance was “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. We really wanted the entire dancing part of the night to be upbeat and fun, with our favorite songs and those that everyone, regardless of age, would enjoy. The band, La Festa, was incredible, and we had a saxophone stay and play for the DJ set that went from 12pm-2am. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The Tenors
Josh Friedman, of Elan Artists, insisted we have tenors. He had both attended and provided entertainment for events at Villa Erba and described how special the tenors made them. He described guests standing, arm in arm, crying and singing along with the tenors. We initially weren’t sold, but we trusted Josh after seeing what he did with my sister’s wedding. We are so happy we did that. We had three tenors, who were later joined by some of the singers from our band, singing classic Italian opera songs and beautiful Italian and English ballads as they drifted from room to room during dinner. People were in fact standing, singing, and crying. Not only was the performance incredible, it also broke up dinner in a way that felt interactive and like a show, as opposed to a long meal. The tenors sang their last song during the fireworks and cake cutting. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Fireworks and cake cutting
After dinner and before dancing, guests joined us outside for fireworks and cake cutting, while the tenors serenaded us with “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli. It was breathtaking to see the fireworks over the lake on the steps of Villa Erba.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Boat from Villa d’Este to Villa Erba
I knew that I wanted to have the ceremony in the gardens at Villa d’Este, as that is where my family and I have visited for years and was the main driver of why we got married in Lake Como. However, the space at Villa Erba was more conducive to the number of guests we had and the reception feel we wanted. Luckily, the two stunning venues are only about a 5 minute drive apart. While guests filed over, William and I opted to take one of the Villa d’Este’s signature wooden boats to the venue. This gave us a chance to spend some one-on-one time together, while also getting some stunning and incredibly special photos and videos.

Special Detail #4: The cake the night before:
The night before the wedding, we had a welcome dinner at Villa d’Este. There was so much that made it special, but above all, it was the ice sculpture of our dog with a cake, made by our good friend Sebastian Wild, of a dog bowl with spaghetti in it, that tipped it over the edge. He specializes in cakes that look so realistic, and guests were blown away when we cut into the bowl, revealing that it was a cake. It was such a special way to incorporate our beloved dog in the festivities and also highlight the talent of Sebastian.[/field]

“California Cool” Meets Italian Heritage at Santa Ana Country Club

The couple executed a mix of California cool (in honor of Jess’ side of the family) and Italian elegance (Joe’s heritage). They chose to hold the ceremony at the church where Jess and her family were members and have a close relationship with the priest. They knew the perfect reception location would be a short distance away at Santa Ana Country Club – a place Jess has fond memories of growing up at and her family was part of her whole life.

Jess wore an elegant Oscar De La Renta gown made of delicate chantilly lace with a cascading detachable train. The halter neck gave a regal feel and classic elegance, while the open back gave it a modern twist. The gown was comfortable and lightweight which Jess loved as she glided around her reception tent and on the dance floor. Her favorite touch was the charming tulle bow on the lower back of the gown.

Jess let each of her bridesmaids choose their gowns, only asking they kept to the white and blue color palate she envisioned. All three girls happened to end up with Agua by Agua Bendita gowns – they loved the hand-embroidered details and the fun prints!

The chef at Santa Ana Country Club customized a menu to exactly what they wanted, and the vision was brought to life with family-style tables and comfort food. Guests gushed over the three-course menu featuring Italian dishes (a nod to Joe’s family’s heritage).

A Vibrant Early Summer Wedding in the Vineyards at Renault Winery

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Kristen dreamt of a day that focused on the beautiful vibrancy of summer. She incorporated touches of yellow throughout her florals as well as bold pops of pink , purple, and orange. She highlighted the stunning and romantically soft greens of the vineyard by choosing a subtle moss color for her bridesmaids dresses. However, The bold colors didn’t end with the florals! She had every table dressed with a detailed patterned linen, green tea lights, and blush pink votive candles. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kristen fell in love with the openness of the tent and the ability to create her own vision from a blank canvas. This summer garden party wasn’t intimidated or limited to exploring all the realms of color and pattern. The overall vision was bringing the joy of summer to life. Entering into the vineyard and tent was as though you were exploring a field of wildflowers with explosive color and vibrancy. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Kristen and Kevin got engaged on September 17, 2022 on a beautiful sunny September day. They had plans to go to a Florence and the machine concert that night with Kevins parents and began the afternoon with a walk in the park right by their apartment on Upper east side. Months prior leading to their engagement Kevin would always make passing comments whenever they passed this specific section of the park that it was his “favorite”.

The morning of their engagement was a slow one, they laid in bed extra long, went to Trader Joe’s and just had a nice easy Saturday. When the afternoon came Kevin suggested we walk pass his favorite section of the park, he started off saying “you know I love you” next thing you know he’s on his knee telling Kristen he wants to spend the rest of his life together. After saying yes their families popped out, they were watching the whole thing![/field]

The tables were layered with both high and low candles. Each table had a unique variety of patterns. Some were dressed with a green geometric pattern while others mirrored the floral arrangements with pops of pink, orange, and yellow. When they entered the cocktail hour they would find a large seating wall dressed with florals that had their name personally engraved in a wooden garden stake.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The balance of sophistication & elegance while keeping the overall theme of playfulness was important and their wedding cake played a part in this. It was a classic white buttercream three teared cake. They wanted to give their guests a sweet ending with dynamic flavors so they chose Chocolate chip with vanilla buttercream , Followed by a layer of red velvet with cream cheese ,Topped with a layer vanilla pound with chocolate buttercream.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Kristen and Kevin wanted to be married in their church first and foremost without sacrificing the beauty of stating their personal hand written vows and intentions in front of all their loved ones in the gorgeous setting of the vineyards at Renault winery. They chose to celebrate both moments. Months prior they asked their dear friend Kenny to officiant on June 8th. Though he was nervous he gave the most heartfelt and seamless ceremony with touches of humor to keep their guests engaged! He reminisced on the moment Kevin called him to tell him he was so nervous because he may of just found “the one” he noted on how he’s constantly taken back by watching the way in which Kevin care for one another. As they said I do once more you couldn’t wipe away the excitement off their face as they floated back down the aisle! Sharing not just one but three incredible “first kisses” the guests joined in their enthusiasm as they threw peddles during their exit![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]For as long as Kevin can remembered he has been called “KK” it is his initials as well as a nickname. Well when he met Kristen they adopted this nickname together and what better way to bring this nickname full circle as Kristen took on Kevins last name! Their welcome sign had “kk” at the top as well as their signature napkins! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]When Kevin and Kristen first fell in Iove with Renault winery they had chosen a different ceremony location on the property. Later on when touring their venue with their parents they soaked in the beauty of the vineyard all together. Both of their parents told them they undoubtably had to get married in the vineyard and the couple couldn’t agree with them more. Kristen loved the vineyard so much that she said when picturing her wedding day she just envisioned running through the vineyard in her wedding gown to their forever.[/field]

A Modern Tropical Wedding at Oxon Hill Manor

Her first thought was to travel over to Italy for a classic Tuscan vibe. Later on in the planning process, Aaliyah fell in love with the modern tropical vibe to really take us on a journey.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After packing up and moving halfway across the country for work (from Maryland to Seattle, from Seattle to Denver, CO), Ronnell surprised Aaliyah with a scenic proposal overlooking the vast greenery of Seattle.[/field]

SHRIMP + GRITS (cheddar jalapeno grits | Cajun shrimp )were served in elegant spoon shooters, the BULGOGI TACO (corn tortilla taco | Korean shaved ribeye | smoked scallion + sriracha aioli | pickled cabbage) were served mini-style in handmade lime shells.

The MAC + CHEESE LOLLIPOP (5-cheese mac + cheese lollipop | truffle aioli), the guest favorite, was served self-standing on a faux grass turf-inspired tray.

The first course was a STRAWBERRY SALAD (mixed greens | kale chips | strawberries | feta | red onions | candied pecans | honey lime vinaigrette).

Second course was the choice of either the APPLE CHICKEN (pan roasted chicken | goat cheese + thyme polenta | haricot vert | bourbon, maple + apple glaze | fried brussel sprout leaves), the HERB FILET MIGNON ( filet mignon | goat cheese + thyme polenta | tri-colored carrots | fig-shallot sauce | sweet potato spirals ), or the SQUASH RAVIOLI
squash + ricotta ravioli | grilled squash | sherry cream sauce | parsley + mint pesto | sweet potato spirals (v).

Two specialty cocktails were served, Ronnell’s choice:

CIDER BOURBON SMASH
bourbon (2oz) | apple cider (2.5oz) | lemon juice (1oz) | apple slice | thyme sprig | cinnamon stick (served in a rocks)

Aaliyah’s choice:

PINEAPPLE JALAPENO MARGARITA
silver tequila (2.5oz) | pineapple juice (2.5oz) | jalapeno simple syrup (.5oz) | lime juice (1.5oz) | lime wheel | jalapeno slices

After guests dined and hit the dance floor, mini chicken and waffle bites were served to guests before the yummy dessert bar opened.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A Modern Tropical Oasis- The reception estate tables were adorned with bridge-style centerpieces draping in tropical greenery and champagne blooms. To tie in the modern tropical design, wicker, and linen elements were added into each place setting. A simple but classic chic menu was placed on top, to showcase guest entree selections.

Travel with family and friends is an essential part of life for Aaliyah & Ronnell. To incorporate this key piece, Aaliyah designed at all day of stationery and arranged seating arrangements based on either the location they traveled to or to or destinations where they met the corresponding guest.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Both Aaliyah + Ronnell were not too fond of traditional wedding cake. Instead, the couple opted for a small red velvet ceremonial cake and a dessert bar . The dessert bar highlighted a few delectable treats, SALTED CARAMEL CHEESECAKE + SOUTHERN BANANA PUDDING SHOOTERS, and SNICKERDOODLE APPLE PIE CUPS.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple entered their reception to the smooth sounds of Young Jeezy’s “I Do”. This caused everyone to jump up and get on their feet. The bride danced with her dad to “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” with shades and a similar two-step.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple curated a playlist of their favorite songs together and placed them in strategic locations within the mansion for guests to hear a different vibe in each space.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Oxon Hill Manor does not allow rose petals in the garden, instead, the flower girls passed out single-stem roses to guests as they proceeded down the aisle.[/field]

The festivities culminated in an al fresco wedding day celebration under Spanish moss, followed by a lavish Italian honeymoon in Lake Como at Villa Del Balbianello.

For Molly and Evan, creating a fun wedding weekend of events was paramount to ensure quality time with their guests, who traveled from across the United States to celebrate their nuptials. Over three days, they treated their beloved 100 attendees to a series of curated events, each brimming with personality and thoughtfully designed details. They began their weekend with an intimate church ceremony on Thursday, followed by a private vintage car transfer to a family dinner at Charleston’s chic Gingerline restaurant. On the eve before their wedding day, they welcomed all their guests for an evening of lawn games and delicious food and drink under cafe lights at one of their venue’s accompanying properties.

From custom invitation suites, to intricate monogram motifs, to a playful assortment of patterned linens by Stradley Davidson and Lola Valentina, to vintage embroidery-inspired wallpaper by Danika Herrick, every element of their wedding day was meticulously chosen to weave a cohesive narrative throughout the celebration. Fashion also played a pivotal role in the weekend’s festivities. Molly was at the helm when it came to intentional, unique attire incorporated into each day of their wedding.

Choosing the historic Naval properties in North Charleston’s Riverfront Park provided the ideal canvas for their Grandmillenial-chic wedding. The Eternal Father of the Sea chapel set a picturesque scene for their ceremony, with its vaulted white cathedral-style ceilings and antique wooden pews. Guests were ushered from the front steps of the chapel to the nearby Admiral’s House property, a recently restored neoclassical home built at the turn of the twentieth century. The reception, situated on the front lawn under the Spanish moss and bathed in the glow of cafe lights, embraced Charleston’s perfect autumn weather, inviting guests to dine and dance beneath the stars. The couple’s custom monogram thoughtfully adorned many of their details, from embroidered napkins to charming matchbox favors, culminating in the form of a large floral monogram at the altar of their ceremony, adding a personalized touch to the grandeur of the affair, as well as an element of visual consistency to tie everything together.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride, “It was the weekend of our college graduation from Virginia Tech, so both of our families were in town and all staying at the same resort, Mountain Lake Lodge (where Dirty Dancing was filmed), just outside of Blacksburg, Virginia. On Thursday night, we had a scheduled dinner with all our friends and family back at one of the cabins. Twenty minutes before dinner was supposed to start, Evan called me in a panic that we needed to go to the store to get steak sauce for dinner for the family. After a few minutes of convincing me that this was a necessary trip (we were at least 30 minutes from a grocery store, so this would definitely delay dinner in my mind), Evan and I left to “go to the store.” About halfway down the mountain, there was an overlook where we had a picnic on our six month dating anniversary, when we had actually been asked to leave by a photographer because a couple was going to get engaged there. As we started to approach this spot, Evan “heard a rock in the tire” and insisted that we stop to check it out so we “don’t get a flat tire on the mountain”. When we parked he suggested that we just stop for a minute as well to enjoy the view that was so beautiful as the sun was about to set. Next thing I know he is grabbing a picnic basket out of the back of the car and walking to the overlook. Shortly after, he proposed and I was overjoyed! The scenery truly made it feel like a fairytale. After this, we went back to the cabin and the “dinner” party was truly, all along, a secret “engagement” party!”[/field]

From a chic strapless number by Solace London for their church ceremony paired with elbow-length white gloves and a fun veil by Tailored Tulle and Prada sunglasses, to a shimmering silk maxi dress by ALC for their welcome party, there was no shortage of incredible bridal looks! But Molly’s stylistic pièce de résistance came in the form of a stunning long-sleeved Reem Acra lace ball gown for her wedding day look that incorporated a high neckline and pearl buttons throughout.

From the bride, “The process of choosing a wedding dress was quite a journey for me. Originally, I thought I wanted something strapless with very clean lines and a modern twist. I was actually specifically saying “no lace” when I went to appointments! After seeing Naomi Biden’s wedding and the elegance of the high neckline and the softness the lace added, it began to change my mind. After trying over 100 dresses, I finally found the beautiful Reem Acra dress I chose. My consultant at Kleinfeld listened to everything I was asking for and was conflicted about, and saved this one for last so we could work through and rule out other concepts I was thinking about. Sure enough, she was right! This was the perfect look for the wedding vision I had been developing for years. We added length to the train and I loved it! Because of the intricacy of the lace on my dress, I wanted my veil to be simple but yet still defined, so I went with a royal length horsehair trim veil. The horsehair added a lovely shape to the edge for definition against the dress. I chose simple white Amina Muaddi pumps because I loved the shape of the heel. The journey of my second dress was just about as complicated as my first, but from the beginning, I knew I wanted to have an outfit change for the reception. Through @littlewhitelooks on Instagram, I found the dress that ended up being perfect! It was so fun and unexpected, but still felt bridal. I loved the beading and architectural element of the sleeve. I paired it with Prada satin platforms to dance the night away!”[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]To accentuate the colors, patterns, and motifs throughout their wedding’s design, and to stand out amongst the gorgeous historical property draped in Spanish moss, the couple opted for both themselves and their wedding party to wear white for the occasion. From the bride, “We wanted white to be the emphasis so that our party really stood out as well, and for the florals and other design elements to be the moments of color! All of the bridesmaids chose their own floor-length white dress in various fabrics, styles, and designers.”[/field]

From the bride, “I always knew I loved the idea of (the groom) wearing a white tuxedo, so once he was on board, I was so excited! I loved that it was an unusual version of the classic tux, and also gave him a moment to stand out as well. We decided on several custom suits throughout the wedding weekend. But the real showstopper was his custom white tuxedo from Hive and Colony for our wedding day.” [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]In keeping with the theme of their Lowcountry wedding weekend, the couple worked with local Charleston caterer Harvest Catering and Spike Bar Service to concoct a modern, South Carolina-inspired menu for their guests. Stations were selected to feature local favorites such as shrimp and grits, and passed hors d’oeuvres including chicken & waffle bites. For their signature drinks, Molly & Evan chose cocktail favorites that they typically made at home together, including an Aperol Spritz, an Old Fashioned, and midnight Espresso Martinis to keep the party going. Late night snacks were also an important culinary feature for the couple, who chose hand-cut french fries served in paper cones made from the very same signature wallpaper motif that was featured throughout the day’s design. [field title=”Florals & Decor”]From the very beginning of the design process, the bride was keen to include multiple complementary patterns, colors, and motifs that were woven together to help tell the story of their wedding weekend. From a custom invitation suite designed by the bride herself, to patterned linens from Stradley Davidson, BBJ La Tavola, and Lola Valentina, to a signature wedding monogram from Shuler Studio, each element was thoughtfully selected and included.

The couple ultimately chose the stunning historical Naval properties nestled in North Charleston’s Riverfront Park as the perfect blank canvas for their Grandmillenial wedding day, utilizing the breathtaking Eternal Father of the Sea chapel for their secular ceremony, as well as the gorgeous and newly renovated Admiral’s House for their getting ready and reception locales.

From the bride, “Our Shuler Studio monogram was one of the first things we invested in in the wedding planning process, and I am so glad we did. I loved finding thoughtful ways big and small to incorporate it throughout the wedding weekend for an element of visual consistency to tie everything together.” Working with their planner and designer, Baylye Burnette of Burnette Events, they leveraged the monogram to help cohesively tie the visuals of the day together. The floral design team over at Festoon Charleston created a unique rendition of the monogram in the form of a floral and moss ceremony centerpiece that hung behind the couple at the altar of the chapel. Their gorgeous monogram made more appearances at the reception on the head table in the form of embroidered white hemstitch napkins, gathered and tied with a dainty blue velvet bow, as well as matchbox favors held in an apothecary jar on the bar. This added an extra layer of refined, personalized charm to the grandeur of the reception.

Florals and patterns were deeply important to the couple. Festoon Charleston concocted a whimsical, Bridgerton-inspired floral design and aesthetic through the use of an assortment of pastel colors, textures, and buds. Bursts of pink, orange, yellow, blue, and purple blooms were expertly woven together throughout the day’s design. Overflowing, organic compotes big and small were featured at the head table and bar, and square tables featured glass vases filled with the same varietal of flowers grouped together at the center of each table. Various patterns were leveraged to create a feast for the senses for guests. From the planner, “we loved incorporating several distinct surface patterns through wallpaper and fabric into guest experience touch points. We used a vintage embroidery-inspired pattern by Danika Herrick for wallpaper on the white circular reception bar, as well as for printed fabric sewn into waist aprons worn by the catering and bar staff. We also utilized a bold botanical pattern created through a collaboration between Neely & Chloe and Inslee Fariss as wallpaper on the escort card wall of custom die-cut cards with tassels, echoing the same charming design guests first encountered in the invitation suite’s envelope liner. We incorporated both fabric patterns into the lounge by crafting custom pillows, creating a pervasive infusion of ornate and romantic aesthetics throughout the wedding design.”[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Not one but three petite wedding cakes were selected by the couple from Charleston bakery Sugar Bake Shop, the largest of the three saved for their cake cut. A cake table adorned in Stradley Davidson art deco inspired linens was placed alongside their al fresco dinner reception, and the petite cakes were surrounded by floral compotes and champagne. Flavors of strawberry, lemon, and chocolate were selected to offer guests multiple dessert options to choose from. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]In keeping with their gentle nod to the Regency era, the couple chose to have a string trio from Charleston Virtuosi play for their ceremony and cocktail hour. From modern covers to classical masterpieces, strings were the audible background for their guests’ arrival to the wedding day. As the sun set, the music transitioned to a DJ at the helm. The couple’s outfit change and entrance into their dance party was introduced by playing their alma mater Virginia Tech’s fight song, “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. As the espresso martinis flowed and the music went on late into the night, a dance floor grand finale was created by hype song favorite “Mr. Brightside” and silver streamers popped by all their guests.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Before their entire guest count arrived in town, Molly & Evan chose to have an intimate Catholic wedding service with only their families and wedding party members. From the bride, “We were going for a very classic and chic look. Evan wore his favorite black suit with a white tie, and I wore a gown from Solace London. I wanted something that was chic and simple since my wedding dress was all lace. I loved the neckline and chic silhouette of this gown! Evan gave me the Prada sunglasses as a wedding gift, which made them such a special accessory to incorporate. I looked for weeks for shoes that would tie the look together and found the most perfect pumps from Something Bleu.”

After their church service concluded, the couple was whisked away in a vintage cream-colored Rolls Royce to downtown Charleston, where they stopped for their first round of wedding portraits at the iconic Zero George. A private family dinner was held at stylish local restaurant Gingerline, where guests were treated to craft cocktails and joyful speeches from close family and friends.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Friday’s events consisted of a welcome party with dinner and drinks for everyone invited to the wedding, complete with lawn games, a local bespoke food truck, and hints of their wedding day’s design, it was the perfect opportunity for the couple to see family members and friends alike, and mingle once everyone was in town. The couple chose one of the accompanying Naval properties, the Lawn of H&I, that was just across the street from their primary venues for their wedding day. From the bride, “Friday we wanted to be dressed up, but still feel more fun and casual than our church ceremony. I loved the movement of the dress from ALC and the metallic pleats added such a beautiful element of dimension. I fell in love with the Cult Gaia clutch, and really built the outfit around it to really play with textures. Evan’s light blue suit brought out his eyes, and was a great soft addition of color.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]A month after their gorgeous Charleston wedding weekend, the couple embarked on a lavish Italian honeymoon. Their first stop upon arriving in-country was the gorgeous Lake Como. To commemorate the occasion, the couple opted for an adventure honeymoon portrait session on the lake for the day, complete with a classic wooden boat for transportation from Cantiere Nautico Cadenazzi to explore the vast lake on. The groom, a huge fan of the Star Wars prequels, helped choose the primary location of their honeymoon portraits at the iconic Villa Del Balbianello. The Villa’s grounds created the perfect Italian backdrop for the couple as the sun set over the lake. [/field]

An All-White Secret Garden Wedding at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

In our reception – we did: Mother/Daughter Dance – untraditionally, in addition to the father daughter dance, we did a mother/daughter dance, but with a twist. We danced to “dancing queen” (our favorite song while growing up) and had all the women join us on the dance floor to get the party started. [/field]

Summer Wedding Filled With Tradition at Their Family Villa in Castel Rigone, Italy

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kyle and Carley’s wedding was held in Castel Rigone, a small medieval village in Umbria, Italy. The couple envisioned a summer wedding filled with Italian wedding traditions, and they certainly created a magnificent event for their family and friends who flew in from the US to share in the celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]As from Kyle’s point of view: I knew exactly where I wanted to propose to Carley. We had spent countless hours walking our chocolate lab around the waterfront of East Boston talking about anything from Carley’s baking to the proper way to load the dishwasher while taking in the views of the city. I threw her off by telling her we were doing a ‘birthday dinner’ followed by meeting some friends for a drink at a bar around the corner – she had no clue I was going to propose and I actually had to remind her that I needed an answer. Following the proposal, both sets of parents were waiting at our condo with champagne and to wish us congratulations. Carley: I swear I cried happy tears for three days straight. He asked me in the perfect spot by the ocean on a walk we’ve done a million times with our dog. Then the continued surprise of a weekend long celebration with our closest family and friends made me feel so loved and supported. [/field]

We visited a boutique wedding dress shop in Haverhill and worked closely with the designer Hector who quickly helped me find my dream dress. I had each mom (mine and MIL) and bridesmaid pick out a dress that they could see me in. The dress I chose was the very first one I tried on. I immediately gasped and was overwhelmed with emotion. I knew in my gut right away that it was my wedding dress. Simple, classic, elegant, and a little sexy all at the same time. I never once doubted my decision and felt so beautiful and comfortable on my wedding day. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids dressed in differing styles of soft blush colored dresses. The groomsmen all dressed in classic black tuxedos. The colors of all of the wedding party’s attire complemented the venue perfectly.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The festivities kicked off with a traditional 2 1/2 hour Italian meal at a beautiful villa in the Umbrian countryside for the rehearsal dinner.

After the wedding ceremony, the couple made their way to the Main Square, where they were warmly welcomed by their guests. The doors of the Palace were opened for an aperitif in the inner courtyard, where guests enjoyed customary Italian delicacies and lounge areas created with large round velvet sofas and forest green poufs. The guests also tossed a coin into the ancient well to express their well wishes for the new couple.

Italian delicacies were served for the wedding reception dinner, including fresh handmade pastas with local sauces and a Chianina tagliata cooked in plain view over the coals, paired with local wine.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The entrance of the Church was adorned with a majestic arch of greenery and fresh flowers, while the inside was decorated with white carpet and more florals extending to the flower adorned altar.

Dinner was served in the backyard garden, which had an “old Italy” allure, with tables adorned with green Toile de Jouy print tablecloths and floral arrangements. The bride and groom’s sweetheart table was a focal point, with a cascading arrangement of beautiful flowers and multiple single roses. Guest tables filled the garden, meandering around the pool.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Carley, a talented pastry chef, assembled the wedding cake with Kyle, a traditional mille-feuille of Chantilly cream, strawberries, and chocolate chips.[/field]

After the couple made their grand entrance on the back of the vintage red Spider convertible into the main square, they were led by their bridal party into the inner courtyard for their first dance. The couple celebrated with family and friends dancing to the live band in the courtyard and enjoying the love and excitement with everyone. Guests were entertained by the couple during the cooking show, and everyone enjoyed this special moment. Carley and Kyle’s wedding was elegant, timeless and an event that their guests will always remember. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The wedding preparations took place in the family’s medieval palace, which was beautifully renovated by Italian architects. The religious ceremony was held at the Sanctuary of Mary Most Holy of Miracles, a building that was erected in 1494 on the site where “multa ac diversa et stupenda signa et miracula” which from Latin translated into Italian means “many different and stupendous manifestations and miracles” occurred.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Italy has a special place in both of our hearts together and separately. To get married there was an absolute dream, and to host it at our families property was even more special than anything we could have imagined. A lot of our guests traveled out of the country for the first time to attend our wedding which was so special to share our mutual love of travel with family and friends. We wanted to lean in and celebrate the Italian culture and traditions as much as possible through our ceremony, meals, and decor. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing vendors! [/field]

Quinn and Riley’s Barrio Viejo-inspired wedding was a vibrant celebration of love and color, perfectly capturing the essence of Southern Arizona’s rich heritage. Together with their planning team at Gabriella & Co. they created a carefully curated palette that featured earthy terracotta and warm cream tones, seamlessly blending with pops of fuchsia, robin’s egg blue, and blush pink. Accents of tangerine orange and flamingo pink added a playful touch, while brass details and medium green hues brought a sense of elegance and natural beauty. This stunning combination of colors created a joyful and inviting atmosphere, making their special day an unforgettable fiesta of love and style.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Their wedding was a beautiful fusion of cultural inspiration and personal significance. Their planner, Gabriella De Brequet of Gabriella & Co. shared, “We were highly influenced by Mexico City and the vibrant colors of local Barrio Viejo. Riley and Quinn met in Tucson and it’s where they set their sights on for their destination wedding. It was key that we highlight elements of Tucson in our design to fully immerse the guests.” This vision was brought to life with a vibrant color palette that perfectly matched Riley and Quinn’s lively personalities, featuring bright, bold hues that celebrated their love and the spirit of Tucson.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Grooms, Quinn Corrigan and Riley Bliss: “In a fantasy love story, Quinn and Riley would say that they met in college. In real life, though, they met in college over Tinder. While attending the College of Fine Arts at the University of Arizona, the dance and theatre programs resided on opposite ends of campus. A swipe on Tinder led to a dinner date, which led to 7 days of 8 dates. After an array of dates ranging from a Martha Graham concert to the Costco tire shop, Quinn proposed the question, “What should I call you when I introduce you to people?” Riley answered, “My boyfriend.”

Fast forward 4 1/2 years, after 8 months of long-distance, a pandemic lockdown in Tucson, and moving into their first Chicago apartment together, they were ready for the next level of commitment. In July of 2022, they started their custom ring process with Adornment and Theory. Quinn’s original plan for an actual proposal moment was ultimately flawed once he understood the timeline for the two intricate custom pieces. Quinn was so in love, though, that he couldn’t wait for the custom rings to be finished, so he took matters into his own hands. After purchasing a simple band, Quinn proposed to Riley in Tucson, AZ… back where their love story began.
Three months later, the tables were turned when Quinn received his surprise. During their favorite holiday tradition, Holiday Tea at the Drake Hotel, Riley presented the finished custom rings in front of the famous Christmas tree. Quinn didn’t see that coming! Riley had told him just days before that the engraver needed a little more time and the rings wouldn’t be done until the new year!”[/field]

The colorful attire stood out beautifully during the wedding party photos, set against the charming backdrop of Barrio Viejo.

The grooms donned custom-tailored ivory suits put together by Braa Elkhidir at Suit Supply in Chicago, adding a touch of timeless elegance to their wedding attire. Inside their jackets, their names were beautifully embroidered, and under their collars, the special detail of their wedding date was thoughtfully stitched.

The evening began with butler-passed appetizers of Florentine stuffed mushrooms and ceviche tostaditas, setting the tone for a gourmet affair. Dinner commenced with a refreshing salad of seasonal greens, feta, and candied pistachios, drizzled with a cactus pear vinaigrette, accompanied by rosemary and garlic focaccia. For the main course, guests were treated to a choice between roasted eye of round with porcini and smashed Yukon potatoes or a vegan eggplant lasagna layered with spinach, Roma tomatoes, porcini, marinara, mozzarella, and ricotta, served alongside calabacitas. The curated menu was a true feast for the senses, perfectly complementing the couple’s unforgettable celebration and giving a subtle nod to the cuisine of the region.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Bloom Maven and owner, Akiko Senda, was the obvious choice for florals, vessels, and candle rentals. Known for their creativity, effortless style, and unique Tucson style they worked seamlessly with planning team. Bright, textured florals were a must, featuring orange and yellow center reflexed tulips, garden roses in various shades, Scabiosa, blue Delphinium, fuchsia stock, butterfly ranunculus, chamomile, spray roses, and orange daisies, all complemented by lush smilax greens.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Quinn and Riley’s dessert table was a delightful feast for the eyes and taste buds. The three-layer cake, crafted by Jamie Cakes Bakery Boutique, was topped with textured white buttercream frosting and adorned with live blooms from Bloom Maven. One tier featured the rich flavors of butter rum with caramel macchiato, while the other tiers delighted guests with classic red velvet and cream cheese. The dessert table showcased an array of treats, including Lemon Blackberry cupcakes topped with tiny frosting succulents, Mexican hot chocolate cookies, chocolate-dipped pretzel rods, carrot cake pops, and chocolate berry cups.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Quinn and Riley’s entrance was a beautifully orchestrated moment, each escorted individually by their parents to the end of the aisle in the well manicured and sun drenched courtyard of the historic Kingan Gardens in downtown Tucson. From there, they walked hand in hand down the aisle together, set to an acoustic rendition of “Come What May” from the musical, Moulin Rouge. The heartfelt melody was performed by the Nico Barberan duo on violin and guitar, creating an unforgettable beginning to their ceremony. Their ceremony was officiated by their good friend Jenna Duddleston who had guests alternating between fits of laughter and happy tears with her personalized ceremony recounting tales of the couple’s early courtship.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Quinn and Riley ensured their guests danced and celebrated late into the evening by hiring Satyr Entertainment to keep the dance floor alive with energy. To keep everyone fueled, they brought in the Black Top Grill food truck for late-night bites. Adding an extra touch of surprise, they set up an espresso martini bar, featuring the Peru/Ethiopian blend from local coffee roaster, Presta Coffee. Locally sourcing as much as possible was a priority for the couple, making each detail not only personal but also a tribute to the Sonoran Desert where they met. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The attention to detail and nod to the regions art and culture was beautifully showcased in their custom table numbers, expertly crafted by their planner, Gabriella De Brequet of Gabriella & Co. Each table number was a hand-painted tile, sourced from the border town of Nogales, just south of Tucson. Gabriella hand-painted the numbers onto the tiles, blending artisanal craftsmanship with a touch of local flair. These unique table numbers added a personal and culturally rich element to the reception decor, celebrating the couple’s love for the region and its vibrant heritage.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Their wedding bar featured signature drinks with personalized cocktails that paid homage to their current home, Chicago, a city celebrated for its artisanal cocktails. As noted by UrbanMatter, “Chicago has become a hub for artisanal cocktails, blending creativity with classic techniques to create unforgettable experiences.”
Quinn’s signature cocktail was a Prickly Pear Margarita, adding a desert twist to the classic margarita. This vibrant drink combined prickly pear cactus syrup, mezcal, tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice, served with a salt rim and a lime wheel on the rocks. Riley’s signature drink was a sophisticated Paper Plane, made with bourbon, lemon juice, Amaro Averna, and Aperol, elegantly presented in a martini glass with a lemon twist. These custom cocktails not only highlighted their unique tastes but also celebrated the rich mixology culture of their beloved Chicago.

Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding at the Ringling Museum

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Mike planned a beautiful date day (that turned into an engagement day) starting with brunch on the East Side River in Tribeca. He’s the planner so I was just along for the ride, he mentioned a few places we could go after brunch, none of which were ever part of the plan. We woke up bright and early to get ready for our 10:30am brunch, which is funny because the restaurant didn’t even open until 11 so as you can tell I was truly oblivious. We grabbed a car and headed over to brunch. We hopped out of the car right in front of the Manhattan Bridge to walk along the water before heading into the restaurant. We took about 5 steps out of the car and he was down on one knee proposing. It was truly the most special day from there – a photo shoot following the proposal, brunch where we called all our friends and family, a stay-cation at the One Hotel, and dinner above the entire city at Manhattan.[/field]

They were soft and romantic and really added to the space and the vision perfectly. A few weeks before the ceremony we switched from an arch at the ceremony to two pedestals that were just breath taking and framed the area perfectly.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our wedding cake from Sweets Bakehouse was so delicious. We went for a lemon lavender cake with chocolate filling.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our ceremony was short and sweet but Stacy at Say I Do Suncoast was able nailed our story and delivered a beautiful ceremony. We wanted strings for the ceremony and cocktail hour and Tanner Johnson brought the vibes. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Muriel (mikes sister) sang our first dance song. We choose the Perfect Duet by Ed Sheerhan and Beyoncé. It was a surprise to our guests so after the first verse, Muriel walked out onto the stage and took over for Beyoncé. It was so fun to see the surprise on everyone’s faces and such an honor for us. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Mike and his mom surprised everyone at the reception by starting off with a slow dance followed by a record scratch and Michel Jackson – Beat It. It was so fun to see them dance around to a song they have listened to hundreds of times together – it was the best way to warm up the dance floor before opening it up to the entire party. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The last surprise of the night was my second outfit which I know is not uncommon but mike and I were the only two who knew about it.Thankfully Mike has great taste in fashion. It was so fun to try on dresses, get the whole look together, and have a little secret that was just between us. We snuck off when the dance floor opened up and he helped me get changed into the second look before we came out together to surprise everyone.[/field]
