A Symphony of Pastel Petals and Fresh Greenery at Hampton Preston House

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]A sophisticated palette of sage green, champagne, and white, complemented by luxurious gold accents[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The ceremony takes place amidst a blooming garden, where guests are greeted by a symphony of pastel petals and fresh greenery. With delicate white colored flowers, sage green bridesmaid, and champagne linens these soft hues perfectly blended with the natural surroundings. Guests entered a stunning tented reception. The clear-topped tent created an airy, ethereal atmosphere of dancing under the stars. Tables are elegantly set with white arrangements and champagne hued linens with gold candles to add a touch of opulence. Twinkling fairy lights and chandeliers cast a warm glow, enhancing the romantic ambiance. Each detail, from the personalized dance floor monogram to the ornate cake design and shape, is thoughtfully designed to reflect the couple’s love story and the beauty of spring.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]In the spring of 2022, Curtis asked me where I wanted to vacation that Summer. We discussed several options and then decided to travel to Madrid, Spain. During the first several days of our vacation, I noticed that Curtis appeared to be a little anxious as
we toured historical sites and enjoyed the city’s parks and restaurants.

After a day of touring the Prado Museum and walking The Salamanca District, we went to the center of Old Madrid, Plaza Mayor, for late night tapas and sangria. After the square cleared, Curtis asked me to dance with him while we listened to some our favorite songs, including, Luther Vandross’s “If This World Were Mine.”

As the song ended and we began to leave the square, Curtis took my hand, knelt on one knee, and said “I didn’t just bring you here for vacation. I brought you here to ask you to be my wife.”

I immediately said “yes!” [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]My dress was designed by Mon Bijou Bridal and purchased at Savvy Bride in Charlotte, North Carolina. I wanted a dramatic train with a drop neckline and they were able to create the perfect dress!

Savvy Bride was recommended to me by our wedding planner, Alexandra Madison Weddings, and I could not have been happier with the entire process. Prior to my appointment, I filled out an extensive questionnaire giving the stylist as much information as possible
about our wedding and my ideal wedding dress. When Angel, Breon, and I arrived we were greeted mimosas and my stylist pulled several dresses that she thought I might like and encouraged me to do the same. As she was pulling dresses I heard her whisper to her
assistant, “this is the dress she will end up choosing,” and she was absolutely right!

My experience with Savvy Bride was amazing![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Knowing that we would have a garden wedding in early spring, I wanted to choose colors that would complement the setting. We chose sage green and gold as our wedding colors and then proceeded to meet with stylists at Bella Bridesmaids in Columbia, South Carolina.
We were able to show the design team our desired wedding colors, the date of our wedding, and our wedding location and they began by pulling designers who had dresses in our color palette. From there, my sister modeled each designed until we found a designer
who had dresses that had dresses we believed matched each bridesmaid’s style and personality.

Once we decided on dresses by Bill Levkoff, each bridesmaid was able to select a dress of her choice. It was very important to us that each member of our bridal party was able to have input into their attire for the day – we wanted all the ladies to feel their
most beautiful and all them men not feel their most handsome!

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Curtis’ tuxedo was designed and tailored by The Buddy Tailor. The managing director, Mohammad Babur Hossain, flew to Charleston, SC to measure Curtis for his attire. After approximately two weeks, The Buddy Tailor shipped the custom tuxedo directly to Columbia, SC in time for the wedding. Curtis wore Gucci patent leather horsebit loafers. He also wore a Gucci black belt and a brackish bow tie. The groomsmen’s attire was designed by Curtis using Generationtux.com. The groomsmen wore tan three-piece suits with ivory colored dress shirts. The look was complemented with sage green ties and handkerchiefs. They wore brown belts and shoes. Generationtux.com was recommended by our wedding planner, Alexandra, and we found them easy to work with. We highly recommend them for a seamless experience.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Featuring an upscale wedding that breaks tradition in the most stylish way. Imagine a celebration where guests mingle freely, savoring gourmet cuisine from various food stations, all without the formality of assigned seating. This wedding is a testament to modern luxury and the joy of unstructured elegance. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The decor is anchored by the timeless elegance of white and green florals, creating a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. The focal point of the bar area is a breathtaking urn centerpiece overflowing with lush greenery, adding a dramatic yet natural touch. Cascading vines and verdant foliage spill gracefully from the urn, interspersed with delicate white blooms that add a touch of romance and purity. This striking centerpiece not only enhances the bar’s aesthetic but also serves as a captivating conversation piece, drawing guests in with its organic beauty and grand presence, perfectly embodying the harmonious blend of nature and elegance. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a stunning showstopper with its unconventional design and impressive height, boasting over four meticulously crafted layers. Each tier was a perfect square, a modern twist on the classic round wedding cake, exuding contemporary elegance. The cake sat atop a sleek acrylic base, giving the illusion that it was floating.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]For their unique wedding ceremony, the couple envisioned a setting where their love could be witnessed from every angle. They chose to arrange the guests’ chairs in a perfect circle, creating a rounded and inclusive atmosphere. At the center, the couple stood on a pristine white podium, elevated slightly to ensure a clear view for all their loved ones. This 360-degree arrangement not only symbolized the unity and equality of their union but also allowed every guest to feel intimately connected to the momentous occasion. The innovative setup made for a memorable and visually striking ceremony.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple’s wedding was marked by a beautifully designed custom monogram, which served as a signature element throughout the celebration. This emblem first appeared at the heart of the dance floor, where it was showcased in a grand design that added a personal touch to the reception’s centerpiece. The monogram’s sleek and sophisticated design was seamlessly integrated into other wedding details, appearing on custom koozies, napkins, programs, and bar signage. This cohesive branding not only tied the event’s aesthetic together but also gave guests charming keepsakes that embodied the couple’s unique style and the unforgettable memories of their special day.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The bride made a grand entrance that left her guests in awe by arriving at the ceremony in a stunning vintage 1940 Cadillac. This exquisite car, painted in a unique blend of gold and mauve, was a departure from the usual end-of-night getaway vehicle, adding an extra layer of surprise and elegance to the event. The vintage Cadillac, with its timeless charm and distinctive color, perfectly complemented the sophisticated theme of the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We chose to leave the chair next to my father empty – my sister, and maid-of-honor, placed a memorial bouquet in the chair to honor my late mother’s memory.[/field]

A Romantic Washington, D.C. Wedding Showcasing Love From Around the Globe

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Mei wanted their spring wedding to look and feel like it belonged in spring. She wanted the full and bright, pink, blush and cream blooms. Their ceremony was nothing short of garden perfection with the floral arrangements encompassing the couple and their guests. For the reception, we used the same color palette, but added in a few red blooms to coordinate with the bright red drapes in the Omni Shoreham Ballroom. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our sweet couple wanted to sync together their different cultures, a western wedding, a fun experience, and a little Audrey Hepburn. When we started the design process, it was clear that Mei had specific goals in mind on what she wanted to include on their special day, but was having a difficult time bringing it all together. We decided to make each section of their wedding stand out with something different. [/field]

A timeless, v-neck ballgown with a beautiful oversized bow in the back served as her main wedding dress. She accessorized this with gloves and a more traditional, simple veil during the ceremony and surprised guests with a vintage birdcage veil during the reception. The couple changed into traditional attire from their cultures during cocktail hour, so Mei wore a traditional Chinese dress and jewelry, and Des donned traditional Bulgarian attire. Their final surprise came partway through the reception, when they wowed their guests with a Tango performance, and they were completely decked out in a new ballroom dancing outfit for this! [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Guests enjoyed a traditional multi-course meal and a dessert course of cake garnished with fresh fruit. Signature cocktails were also offered. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Mei desired a timeless feel to the entire event. Inspired by the classic beauty of the Audrey Hepburn era, the florals and decor were romantic, in a palette of mostly ivory and blush. To tie in her Chinese heritage and the red curtains in the ballroom, they also brought in pops of red. The soft pinks also celebrated the cherry blossom– a perfect marrying of quintessential D.C. details and Asia. With vintage gold tableware, patterned China, and textural napkins and table cloths, the design felt welcoming. A custom folio was placed on each place setting, and it included a menu as well as other meaningful details to the couple and event.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a champagne tower moment and a table with a display of treats from different parts of the world. They displayed a macaron tower in the style of a croquembouche as well as baklava. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple opted for readings in English and French to represent their international love. They danced to love songs from various parts of the world– Bulgaria, China, Argentina, as well. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The Escort Wall was created to give the guests a little touch of Mei’s world. The bride and her parents worked hard to translate all of their guests names into Chinese. We took those characters and put them on beautiful red paper with a tassel she had custom made. The bottom of the card had each guests name in English. The back of the card had the table number. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The grooms name is “Dessislav.” Which means “This is Love.” Instead of an actual table number, we used the words “This is love” in a different language from the favorite countries they have travelled to together. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Rachel’s grandmother had unfortunately passed not too long before the wedding and the family wanted to keep her a part of the party somehow. She loved her gin + tonic’s so we had a special signature cocktail dedicated to “The Donna” consisting of a speciality gin, tonic water, and a twist of lime. She was definitely there in “spirit”![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were on the high priority list from the beginning and we intentionally chose a color palette that lent itself to the blooming season and unique floral options. From color blocking florals for more interest in the design to using natural elements such as moss, this floral design was one of our favorites this season! As for decor, there were carefully selected pieces that added either the perfect splash of color or texture to the event’s moments, such as green satin linens that had the florals popping all day and night, oranges at the welcome table for a pop of citrus amongst the green, stone bowl for cards from their own home instead of a card box, and handwritten texts selected from the bride on every piece of signage![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Rachel and Keenan decided to replace a traditional cake cutting with an espresso martini tower! The photos say it all but it was one for the books! This just proves that you should stick to what you and your partner love. Rachel and Keenan are not sweet lovers and chose to do something that fit their relationship and loves instead![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We worked together to decide on a signature scent that represented their relationship and the vibe of the day. This scent burned throughout the wedding from welcoming guests to ending the night at the bar, and now they get to reminisce every time they light the candle in their home.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Pattern was a highlight for this day and by using certain elements we were able to see it communicated from attire to the bar. The bridesmaids wore a floral dress that represented each color of the palette, holding a bouquet of opposing color to add the unexpected pop of color! The pattern didn’t stop there! The bar had hand-selected wallpaper inserts that were able to bring the palette full circle and add detail to every corner.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Polaroid Party! They had a member from each of their parties responsible for 1 polaroid camera and they did NOT fail! From the morning entrance to the epic dance floor to the ending exit they had so many moments and memories captured without the stress of leaning on their guests to do it all. Highly recommend handing a camera to a “polaroid party” member at your event.

A Joyous Home Wedding That Felt More Like an Intimate and Relaxed Dinner Party

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Rachel and Michael envisioned a palette that perfectly balanced vibrant and pastel shades, evoking the lively spirit of spring while maintaining a sophisticated and classic ambiance. The wedding featured a stunning array of coral, lavender, and yellow hues, accentuated by crisp whites and a rich emphasis on greenery. This combination created a fresh and elegant atmosphere, seamlessly blending the lively energy of the season with a timeless and refined aesthetic. The thoughtful use of colors ensured that every detail, from the floral arrangements to the table settings, contributed to the overall harmonious and joyful feel of the celebration.

Held at Rachel’s cherished childhood home, the wedding was designed to feel like an intimate and relaxed dinner party. The ceremony took place in the serene backyard, cocktail hour was enjoyed by the pool, and the reception unfolded beautifully in the front yard. Rachel and Michael’s vision was to create an atmosphere where guests could feel completely at ease as if they were attending a warm and welcoming gathering of close friends. The couple prioritized comfort and authenticity, ensuring that the event was free from any sense of formality or pretense. This approach allowed everyone to fully enjoy the celebration, creating lasting memories in a setting that felt both personal and inviting.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Every Saturday, Rachel and Michael wake up and head to their favorite bagel spot in Brooklyn, followed by sitting in the nearby Cobble Hill Park. The morning of Saturday, July 30th 2022, was no different. The couple woke up and made their way to get their bagels and sit in the park. Once seated at the park, Rachel noticed Michael was acting a little odd–he had barely touched his bagel. Rachel pried for a few minutes to see what was wrong, and after saying “nothing” over and over, Michael finally turned to Rachel and said, “do you want it now, or later?” dropped to one knee, pulled a ring out of his pocket, and popped the big question.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The culinary experience was masterfully crafted by Lisa Borda of Bord A Petite Catering, reflecting the warm, homely ambiance Rachel and Michael desired. Dinner began with a classic wedge salad, setting a familiar and comforting tone. Guests then had the choice of three delectable main courses: red wine-braised short rib, roasted herb chicken, or vegan risotto, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. For late-night indulgence, New York City-inspired hot dogs and Italian cannolis paid homage to Michael’s heritage and their shared love for the city. Specialty cocktails were a highlight, each with a story: the Spicy Margarita, named ‘Spicy Babu’ after their beloved cat; the espresso martini, called ‘The Matchmaker,’ celebrating their friends’ successful setup; and the gimlet, dubbed ‘Kindred Spirits,’ marking their first date’s special connection.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Jocelyn of Fig Event Co. brought a whimsical and organic floral vision to life, seamlessly integrating the natural beauty of the residence into the wedding decor. The arrangements were designed to appear as if they were growing naturally from the surroundings, with table centerpieces that looked freshly cut from the garden. This approach created an effortlessly elegant and asymmetrical aesthetic, balancing whimsy with a sense of order. The florals were not only visually stunning but also deeply connected to the venue, enhancing the intimate, homey atmosphere Rachel and Michael sought for their special day.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake, crafted by GhilaDolci Bakery, was a beautifully simple textured buttercream cake that perfectly complemented the wedding’s elegant yet personal vibe. The standout feature was a custom figurine modeled after Rachel and Michael’s beloved cat, Babu. This charming and unique detail added a touch of playful personality to the cake, making it not just a dessert but a meaningful centerpiece that reflected the couple’s love and connection to their furry friend.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Rachel and Michael’s adored cat, Babu, holds a special place in their hearts and was thoughtfully included in various aspects of the wedding. Katie Shuler’s photography team paid homage to Babu by capturing delightful and whimsical images of the cat figure throughout the day. These photos added a layer of personal charm and humor to the wedding album, highlighting the couple’s affectionate bond with their pet and ensuring Babu’s presence was felt in the celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Rachel and Michael’s wedding stationery, designed by Matinae Design Studios with custom illustrations by Nanette Art & Design, added a deeply personal and artistic touch to their celebration. Their invitations featured lovebirds holding a banner with the couple’s initials, symbolizing their love and unity. The speciality drink cocktail menu included whimsical illustrations, such as a charming depiction of their cat Babu playfully nestled in a cocktail glass. The ceremony program highlighted a special tree from Rachel’s childhood backyard, creating a nostalgic and meaningful connection to the venue. The out-of-town guests received welcome booklets filled with unique and thoughtfully crafted artwork, including a detailed map of the hometown with suggestions for the best places to eat and drink. Each piece of stationery was a cherished keepsake, reflecting the couple’s personality and story.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Rachel and Michael’s wedding bands are unique, “two-of-a kind” matching rings. They were inspired by the idea of bringing their families together to create something new, and hatched the idea of collecting a small amount of gold from their families to be melted together to create each wedding band. The couple reached out to their mothers and were given two old, gold wedding bands—Rachel’s mother’s first wedding band and Michael’s great grandmother’s wedding band. Rachel and Michael took this idea—and the rings—to Page Sargisson, a jeweler in their neighborhood. At Page, the concept evolved. Rather than melt the rings down, the brilliant jewelers created a design that seamlessly melded the 2 rings together, split them in half, and then back filled the rings with new gold to symbolize the 2 families coming together to form 1. 5 Rules for a Modern Wedding Without Sacrificing Tradition

If you’re a bride who loves a major dose of modern but would rather not kick tradition to the curb – then we’ve got just the thing for you! Throughout this gorgeous shoot at the Taylor Grady House, our friends Christy from Colonial House of Flowers and Savan from Savan Photography will take you through the steps to perfecting a traditional wedding with a modern twist. Trust us, not only are these tips genius – they’re also super easy to follow! (P.S. if you haven’t already seen Christy’s recipe for a Pinterest-worthy wedding bouquet, check it out here!)

1. Choose a traditional venue, and run free with florals.

From the vendor team… When Los Angeles based photographer, Savan Photography said she was coming to Georgia and commissioned a classic, yet modern garden style bouquet, we were nervous but knew exactly what we needed to do. Honestly, when she said she’d meet me at the National Historic Landmark: The Taylor Grady House we knew we could create a story that had yet to be written if you know what we mean. When you choose a venue with so much heritage, you can run free with the florals to infuse a moody, unexpected, classic with a twist vibe that is alllll you, girl! :)

2. Go for muted tones with a pop of color.

We chose garden rose spray roses for a traditional base, as we layered upon the roses with muted toned hellebores in purple-ish and green. You can refrain from too much color in the petals — to allow the colors of the flower’s details to show through. Like the yellow center of that Peony. I mean, he’s everything AND a bucket of sunshine. Finally, for a whimsical surprise, tuck in white flowers plucked like we did from the property. Plus, a few pretties like butterfly ranunculus. A trendy flower recipe doesn’t have to be expensive.

3. Balance the refinement of the venue with wild, untamed arrangements.

In this case, we wanted to create something rebellious yet respectful of the history of The Taylor Grady House. The place is elegant and refined and to balance that we need some good old fashioned blooms plus spunk. The Taylor Grady House represents the classic Greek Revival architectural style that Athens is famous for. So, in places like this you can take risks with things like flowers — and go wild and crazy because the natural aesthetic of the place is already stately. It makes things warmer and more inviting when there is balance, a certain rawness of imperfection is needed. So, when the rules are already in place like this – you can break them down and rewrite them. Choose your favorite flowers in muted tones. And, just go for it. That’s what we did!

4. Opt for a classic color palette that will never go out of style.

As far as the color palette for the linens we wanted to keep in classic as much as possible. Trends come and go, but keeping a classic color palette is timeless. That is why we decided to go with a rich navy blue and using the rich texture of velvet brings me back to the southern and old colonial days of using velvet in their homes. We also added modern elements such the flatware dipped in white ceramic leaving the exposed gold and the stark white plate for that clean modern look.

5. Add personal touches in unique ways.

When you choose a location that seems to have boundaries because 1000’s of people have had events there before you, you can trespass those limits by adding personal touches like your absolute favorite flowers in ways they’ve never been done before — whether bought from the store or picked from the grounds yourself, arranged by someone else or by you!

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

A wedding at Villa Gamberaia embodies an elegant and lavish yet tastefully restrained ambiance, seamlessly blending sophistication with the villa’s historical charm. The vision for the design centers around creating a luxurious outdoor living room experience within the romantic Italian garden. Guests are greeted with exquisitely curated details, including plush sofas and stylish armchairs arranged for the aperitivo, offering comfort and elegance. Each piece of furniture is carefully selected to complement the villa’s timeless beauty, ensuring an inviting and refined atmosphere that elevates the entire celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

When we first met with this lovely couple, they expressed their dream of a once-in-a-lifetime Italian wedding. They chose Florence, the quintessential romantic city known for its architecture and Renaissance charm. They desired a lavish wedding, but with an emphasis on elegance without overdoing it. As wedding planners, we proposed an enchanting design for their special day at the exquisite Villa Gamberaia, capturing the essence of elegance and sophistication.

Our vision combined the villa’s historical charm with meticulously curated decor to create an unforgettable experience. Imagine an alfresco ceremony with elegant floral arrangements enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings. For the aperitivo, we transformed the garden into a luxurious outdoor living room, complete with plush sofas and stylish armchairs, evoking the comfort and sophistication of a grand Italian residence.

For the lavish dinner, we designed a stunning table adorned with an abundance of flowers, a true feast for the eyes. Every detail of the table setting was meticulously chosen, from the refined plates and cutlery to the elegant linens, creating perfect harmony. The scene was further enhanced by beautiful golden chandeliers, gracefully hanging and casting a warm, romantic glow. These chandeliers were framed by lush green plants, adding a touch of natural vibrancy and completing a setup that enchanted and captivated every guest.

Our team ensured every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the selection of fine table settings and linens to the ambient lighting that cast a romantic glow over the evening. We collaborated closely with top-tier vendors to provide exquisite cuisine, bespoke floral designs, and seamless coordination, guaranteeing a flawless celebration that reflected the couple’s unique love story.[/field]

A Twice Postponed Wedding at la Playa Beach Golf Resort That Was Worth the Wait!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Neutrals to play off the beach colors and highlight the natural scenery of the beach after recovering from catastrophic hurricanes [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]To bring to life the relaxed elegance vibe, we used organic / whimsical florals and materials throughout. Our wedding invitations were letter-pressed onto hand torn paper to blend formal with style. Our menus also used hand torn paper: the base was white with a taupe name card attached via a monogrammed wax seal. We channeled ivories neutrals throughout for warmth, + used just a dash of gold at the reception for a touch of vintage. I love a good antique, so of course we went with water goblets, brass candle holders, and tapers at the dinner tables.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]WEDDING story from the bride:
I’ve been going to Naples + LaPlaya since I was six months old, and when I met Garret he joined us on yearly family trips. It was the perfect wedding destination that held an extra special sentiment in our hearts. When the hurricane hit 5 weeks before our wedding + severely damaged our venue, not only were we devastated for the community + the place we loved so much, we were heartbroken to think that we’d have to say “I Do” anywhere else.

We postponed our wedding to April – 5 months after our original wedding date. The next 5 months were filled with wedding anxiety amplified by 100. We had to contact every vendor to swap dates + contract details (some of who were dealing with dozens of other reschedules due to the hurricane), tell all of our loved ones to refund flights + hotels, and constantly communicate with our beachside venue (that was working over the clock to rebuild) who had constantly disappointing updates: the power was still out 2 months post-hurricane, they found yet another issue to fix, etc. All totally out of their control, but of course not the news we’d want to here.

We flew out to naples in January to tour the venue ahead of our April date and were greeted with hard hats. We couldn’t even get into the hotel because it was a complete construction zone. Through tears we were told that our wedding unfortunately could not happen in April. Because of the love + care the venue had showed us, the extra special love we now had for Naples + its community, and our determination to live out our original wedding day dream – we postponed yet again to October (almost a full year later).

The wait was long and stressful, but slowly but surely – we began to experience the calm *after* the storm. The venue was progressing fantastically. We visited twice over the summer and each time we noticed something new: the outdoor lawn was repaired, the new landscaping was blossoming, fresh bricks were being laid, etc.

Our vendors turned into family. We were all in it for the long haul together, and that was clear. LaPlaya hosted a second tasting for us + treated us like a literal King + Queen. We even had dinner with our Catering Manager at her family’s home the week after our wedding.

The Wedding Day was magical. The weather was crispy + breezy, with not a cloud in the sky. Even if something did not go as planned, I or the guests would not have had a single clue because our team of vendors was nothing but positive, supportive and absolutely amazing the day-of. As cliche as it is to say, the wait was worth it. The most special and memorable thing for both of us was our First Look. A moment that I truly could’ve waited eternity for because it was so unforgettable. It made me realize how important it is to make sure you do your wedding day exactly how you want it, because it symbolizes the most important union of your lifetime: your marriage.[/field]

My wedding gown was named Heleny, custom-made 2021 Lihi Hod couture. It was the embodiment of elegance, femininity and delicacy: all elements that I wanted to shine through throughout my bridal details. The veil was designed to accompany the dress. I decided last minute to use the blusher for a traditional touch (and as a nod to my idol: Sofia Richie). I paired it with Mejuri pearl jewels + short Jimmy Choo heels lined with pearls on the straps. Pearls felt perfect for beachside glam!

For the reception I wanted to go with a more casual look that still felt bridal + modern. I chose a Self Portrait mini dress that had similar embellishment to my gown. It was the perfect party dress![/field]

OR

sea salt roasted breast of chicken stuffed with sun dried tomato, gruyere + arugula, forbidden rice, seasonal vegetable

We served red + white wine tableside, of course offering the bride’s favorite: Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio.

We used our Vueve champagne toast as our table escorts for guests.

We had a cocktail hour specialty drink – The Sunshine (a nod to our sweet King Charles Cavalier + the golden hour energy of an ocean-side cocktail hour) with coconut rum, pineapple, prosecco, grenadine, cherry garnish

Our reception specialty cocktail was Diego’s Espresso Martini – named after the Bar Manager at our venue who we now call a dear friend. He made a special recipe for us so that it resembled the flavor of our favorite local one in Chicago (at the iconic Topo Gigio!)[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The term we coined was “relaxed elegance.” Wanted everyone to feel comfortable, welcome and warm, but in an elevated way. We went with organic + whimsical flowers throughout, ensuring the stems were dainty but the arrangements were grand.

The most important things were the special details that represented my husband and I: our love and our life. We added a jar of pennies to the water fountain leading into the reception so that the space would act as a wishing well for guests. We created acrylic sea shells with our stationary artists to act as an escort garnish for guests to find their seat via champagne glasses filled with Vueve. We also had cookies designed with our beloved dog Sunshine’s likeness. They were so adorable – and while not the most elegant, our day would not have been complete with a little bit of good ‘ol silly fun. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We also wanted our cake to feel soft glam, so our pastry artist used hand painting as a technique to create a floral / greenery design to doll up our four tier vanilla cake.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”] Live pianist at cocktail hour! So stunning + vibey. Really elevated the beachside cocktails.
Our sax player led us into our reception party playing alongside Everybody Loves Somebody by Dean Martin (the bride’s favorite song). It was intimate yet statement-worthy. Very memorable + special.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Acrylic seashell escort cards: This was something we actually cut before the hurricane because we were over budget for stationary, but once we had more time to plan I knew how much I loved the idea so we brought it back. Rich Fall Tones With a Touch of Glam at Arrowhead Hill

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]This wedding design was refined & elegant in nature, highlighting rich fall tones against a neutral backdrop. Black and white accents added a formal, slightly glam feel to the day.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride: “Between my husband and I – I am the planner, I’m always making the reservations and thinking ahead. So Preston really wanted to be the one to surprise me for our proposal. At the time, my sister was pregnant and told us she was booking a maternity session with a photographer and wanted us to join them for the last bit for some family photos. I didn’t think much of it. On the same weekend as the photos, Preston claimed he had to go on a work hunting trip with his customers and was going to try to make it back Sunday evening for pictures, but couldn’t promise he would make it. I kept thinking this guy could be my fiancé soon and he couldn’t even make our family photos a priority? When the photos rolled around he ‘conveniently’ wouldn’t be making it back. I arrived at the photography location, McGovern Centennial Gardens, to meet my sister and her husband with my parents, only to find Preston waiting on me. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! He had a photographer to capture the whole moment and then we celebrated with our closest friends and family with a surprise party.”[/field]

I couldn’t wait for my time to be a bride and to try them on, and even had a wedding board with print outs of her specific designs. My exact dress, “The Dream Weaver”, was one of the ones I printed and was actually the first dress I tried on. I think my my mom, my MIL and my maid of honors, all knew it would be the one but I didn’t want too many opinions so quickly, and to commit after only trying on one dress. But after trying on some other dresses, I quickly came back to the first as being ‘the one!’

The a-line dress is simple but the beaded floral embossed jacquard fabric adds so much, and it was the silhouette to be timeless with flare and glam. Twirling in a gown like this gives you the bridal feeling like no other, and even sparkled a bit when light hit the beading. I ended up adding five feet of train for a dramatic aisle moment, as well as an asymmetrical bow that I was obsessed with. The bow was a fun touch that made the dress my own.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]From the bride: “I am one of those girls who had been dreaming about my wedding for a long time. My mom had black bridesmaids dresses when she got married, and the one thing that never changed about my wedding vision growing up was having black bridesmaids dresses. I have always loved wearing the color black and find it to be sleek and flattering on everybody, and knew it would be the perfect fancy, formal touch. My maid of honors and I tried on multiple Amsale dresses but landed on their crepe material with the strapless neck, knowing it would be similar but not identical to my strapless neck wedding gown.”[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food and beverage experience started outside under the sailcloth tent, where a 360 bar was adorned with florals and fabric bar signs, and surrounded by hanging flowers and greenery from the tent poles. This was a favorite detail for the planning team, as it created a gorgeous, central focal point, but was equally functional for guests to grab one of the signature drinks — a French 75 and margarita on the rocks. Guests were also greeted with a glass of champagne as they entered the tent, and many mix and mingled with a glass of wine or beer in hand.
The catering experience from Behind the Bash was top-notch, treating guests to passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour, and a decadent buffet experience in the reception space. This caterer is known for their crafted flavors and perfectly cooked meats, which Erica & Preston’s guests got to experience and enjoy.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From the planner: Everything about Erica & Preston’s florals and decor embodied an elegant and refined design, while embracing a fresh take on a fall color palette. The lush florals by Petal & Stem by Jen adorned just about every inch of the venue. The bride especially loved her bridal bouquet (we did too!) which was petite in size but bursting with texture and tones. These same ivory, mauve, blush pink, sand, and plum tones were incorporated into other floral moments, big and small — like the statement floral swag that climbed up the cross and the petite flower frog arrangements that had the most beautiful tulips on display. A favorite focal point was easily the hanging chandelier over the dance floor. From first dances, to toasts, to dancing the night away, these statement florals perfectly centered the room. We also loved the mix of neutral yet textural linens that adorned tables. Everything from velvet to shantung to lace was incorporated, and each of these different textures provided richness and depth that complimented the fall season.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The statement, six-tier, white wedding cake featured a number of special details. While some tiers were smooth, most incorporated subtle texture and interest like the couple’s wedding crest on one tier, and the jacquard detailing from the bride’s wedding dress on other tiers. The classic white cake was further accentuated by dainty floral arrangements surrounding the cake stand, and placed on neutral lace linen from Nuage Designs.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]From the bride: “Planning a wedding is realizing this might be your one and only time to have all your favorite people in one place. We wanted our ceremony to be meaningful and intimate, prioritizing it as a time to worship together as a couple becoming one. We wanted our guest to know Jesus was the center of our relationship and having a room full of people signing Kari Jobe’s “The Blessing” over us was a moment I will never forget. It felt like a glimpse of heaven.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]For both the bride and groom, the Louisiana State University stadium cake was a favorite detail from their wedding day. While the cake was a nod to the groom’s alma mater, the choice had additional significance to the couple as their teams, LSU and Alabama, were playing each other on their wedding day. They will always cherish having all of their college friends in one place singing their school songs while the game was playing![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The invitation suite and paper goods were an all-time favorite detail for the bride. Erica loved developing this suite with Jo’s Paper Kitchen, which was very traditional and formal in feel, but added visual interest through gold foil accents and custom details like the venue illustration. This design was further built upon in all of the day of goods, which including everything from ceremony programs and menus, to large items like the seating chart and welcome signage. As a bride who keeps every invitation and place card she has ever received, she wanted her own paper goods to be keepsake-worthy. It was also important to Erica that her family and friends felt the intentionality in all of the paper good choices, and that she and Preston honored their guests with personal touches. This was achieved by listing out the names of those involved in the ceremony in the program, and having assigned seats with gorgeous place cards for each guest. As Erica says, “It’s expensive to host a wedding and be in a wedding, so each name was important to me. I wanted our guests to know they were invited with a purpose.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Get the confetti! As the bride says, “life is truly a party and it is what you make it. Confetti makes everything more fun. I highly recommend singing and dancing to your favorite songs with confetti poppers to end your wedding night!”[/field]

The wedding colors for Hannah & William’s wedding day were every color you can think of. Picture this- bright blues, ecstatic yellows, pinks in every form. The piece that tied it all together, though, was the necklace that she wore – a family heirloom worn by each woman in the Simpson family on their wedding day since 1826. It comes from a set, with matching earrings, as well as a gorgeous, gold bracelet. Each Simpson woman chooses to style the pieces how she likes for her own day, and Hannah chose to keep it subtle with just the diamond necklace. [/field]

There were midi’s from Alémais, organza gowns from Staud, and floral-filled Rhode dresses. Each one perfectly reflecting the personality of the beauty wearing it. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]William devised a plan to have both of their families in town by telling Hannah that his parents were coming for the annual Ravenel Bridge Run. After the run, the couple, along with his parents, bopped around downtown Charleston until mid-day. That’s when they were to go to Williams uncle’s home on Shem Creek for “happy hour.” It was there that William took Hannah down to the private dock and popped the question. It just so happened to be April 1st, so William had to reassure Hannah that it, “was NOT an April fools prank!” They ended the evening by celebrating with all of their friends and families at Hannah’s parents home in Charleston.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]DeBordieu Club handled all of the catering, and boy, did they succeed. The food was delicious, and reflected the taste buds of the bride and groom. Not only did they offer the classic shrimp and grits and carving station, but they also threw in individual, Chinese takeout boxes filled with the bride & grooms favorite noodle dish. They ended the evening by passing out Jeni’s ice cream on the dance floor. The perfect cool-down after dancing the night away.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Willow Event Design took Hannah’s “Garden Party” vision and brought it to life with pink peonies, blushing buttercups, and gerbera daisies dancing underneath the sailcloth tent. There were disco balls illuminating the dance floor, intertwined with dangling greenery that seemed to sway with the music. Eyes were met with organic greens of the table cloths, reflecting the hues of the marsh surrounding the tent. Color was everywhere! Bringing joy to the heart of each guest that entered the tent. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Hannah & William’s cake was adorned with peonies and daisies, and rested upon a blush pink, glass cake stand. Coordinating effortlessly with the hues of the decor, the cake was a fabulous accessory to the vision of the day. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The lovebirds incorporated many Jewish traditions in their ceremony, as well as “the horah” at the reception. The groom is an avid golf cart lover, and exchanged his formal cuff links for those shaped like golf carts for the party portion of the evening. You can feel from the photos just how joyful the pair was to be surrounded by the people they adore most, while finally tying the knot. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Hannah finished dancing the night away in her Carolina Herrera mini dress, purchased from the groom’s family luxury boutique, Coplon’s, in Columbia, SC. Chic and Playful Wedding at the Groom’s Family Farm in Sonoma

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From Lauren: The primary colors were deep plum and lilac, with supporting blues, greens, and taupe. I wanted an event palette that felt fresh and modern, and wasn’t too matchy matchy. I spent a lot of time in Google Slides trying to put the perfect palette together, but ended up changing it all the time. Ultimately, I learned that while having a few key colors to build off was helpful, it was important to stay flexible along the way. Different materials all render colors differently – different shades work better for digital, print, floral, or fabric, and sometimes you go down a rabbit hole with foil press samples, and fall in love with a holographic foil for your invitations that you won’t use anywhere else, but f*ck it because you love it.

The vision was a “chic & playful wedding at a family farm.” We knew right away that we wanted to get married at Sam’s family farm in Sonoma. I wanted to create some contrast with the idyllic setting of the family farm, so I didn’t lean fully into pastoral vibes. I incorporated some edgier, big city styling choices, and also went with more modern designs for invitations, website, and table settings. Meanwhile, the botanical florals and classic Italian menu blended nicely with the long farm grasses and beautiful oak trees. I think the resulting tension was a nice reflection of my (okay, a little flashy) LA sensibility mixed with Sam’s more down-to-earth East Bay vibes.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From Lauren: As was evidenced by my 70 page wedding planning slide deck, I can be a little Type A. I told Sam not to worry about the surprise, and just plan us a nice weekend away where he could propose somewhere special. A few weeks later, I had a calendar hold from Sam for a weekend away. It was a decoy! He ended up proposing to me in Sonoma, while we were out wine tasting. I was hungover from the night before, wearing jean shorts, and had left my phone at home. When he got down on one knee, it took me a few seconds to process what was going on. I love that he threw my instructions out the window and made it a surprise. Even though we had discussed it before, the shock of not knowing made the moment more memorable and emotional. Sometimes what you think you want is not what you actually need. I feel lucky to have a partner who intuitively understands that. [/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]From Lauren: I tried on over 60 dresses in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. I figured, you might only get one opportunity (or maybe a few, no one’s counting) in your life to try on wedding dresses, so I went all out. I decided on a simple square neck, A-line design by Blue Willow from Anne Barge for my ceremony dress with a 3-tier wedding cake veil from Toni Federici. I loved the 80s drama of the veil and the slightly reflective sheen of the mikado silk dress. For the reception, I went full party vibes with a sequined column dress adorned with ostrich feathers from Varca Bridal. I’m a platform girl, so I loved wearing my chunky Nodaleto heels all weekend long. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]From Lauren: The brief was main character energy. My bridebabes did an incredible job styling themselves in unique looks that complemented each other and let their personalities shine. Shoutout to my bridesmaid Jenny who scoured the internet for every purple dress under the sun. The girls wore satin Nicholas dresses. The boys went above and beyond with custom suits tailored for them in Mexico City by infante (@infante.ift). My man-of-honor, Win, hand carried his own plum-colored twill from Joanne’s Fabrics to Mexico. Seeing their looks come to life was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]From Lauren: The groomsmen wore matching navy suits from The Black Tux. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]From Lauren: Sam’s mom’s side of the family are Italian American, so we really wanted simple, authentic Italian food. We went out on a limb and asked this Italian deli in LA called Ceci’s (@cecis_gastronomia) if they would cater a wedding in Sonoma. Francesco and Francesca, a young Italian couple, chef and business manager duo, were amazing. We had no notes at the tasting. They knew exactly how thin to slice the prosciutto for Sam’s Italian grandmother, Paola. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From Lauren: One of my favorite details was the custom signage designed by my man-on-honor, Win (winmixter.com). He’s a talented illustrator and graphic designer. He drew illustrations of Korean, Italian, and Jewish foods, which we used as table signage, and designed the menus, and seating chart. Max Gill (@maxgilldesign) did the florals. He was an incredible creative partner, a true artist in his own sense. I gave some notes on color & vibe, and he just completely nailed it. He sat with me patiently during our table mock up and seriously considered the pros and cons of two different shades of blue linen napkins that I deliberated for at least 15 minutes. My amazing wedding planner Sarah from Kate Whelan Events managed all the decor. I didn’t have to think about the logistics once during the wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]From Lauren: We skipped cake and did bomboloni (Italian donuts) from Ceci’s instead. Francesco hand-filled them with buttercream and hazelnut chocolate filling on-site. By then, we were dancing up a storm! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]From Lauren: The procession started with I Only Have Eyes for You by The Flamingos. I walked down the aisle to James Blake’s cover of Godspeed. For dinner, I made a playlist of Italian pop and disco songs from the 60s and 70s. Our first dance was to Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You with a segue into Rock With You by Ashanti. My friend Trent DJ’d the reception – the vibes were immaculate. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From Lauren: Photographer: Another special shout out to Michelle, our incredible photographer from St. Chelle. I wanted a photographer with a distinct point-of-view. I loved that Michelle’s style was more photo journalistic, that she captures nature in such a wild and ethereal way, and shoots only on film. Ever since we got the photos, all my memories are through her lens, and what a beautiful way to remember the best day ever. [/field]

Experiential Dining Takes Center Stage at Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]Experiential dining took center stage in events in 2023 – in 2024 it is going to be even BIGGER! Guests are looking for more restaurant style seating when it comes to events, and this is where our favorite new trend enters- banquette style seating. This style of seating allows for a more cozy, intimate, and upscale dining experience at large scale events.

During long Minnesota winters, there is nothing more exciting than when the seasons start to turn, and we get to work with bright beautiful colors again. When concepting this upscale soft summer shoot, we always start with one or two main focal points and for this design it was the Sunset Round Banquettes from Collected & Co partnered the delicate pattern of Marigold Charleston linen from Nuage Designs.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We incorporated varying shades of pink and green with a touch of lilac that was infused by Apricot Floral in the form of the orchids she designed with.

During long Minnesota winters, there is nothing more exciting than when the seasons start to turn, and we get to work with bright beautiful colors again.

With the main color of Marigold being brought in, we knew we wanted the rest of the palette to complement but not overpower. We brought in softer colors of creams, blush, sage greens, rose pink, butter yellow and touches of lilac. With all of these varying soft colors we infused those in the floral by Apricot Floral, rentals from Collected & Co. and Apres Party and Tent and Paper Goods by Jill Elaine Designs.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom is a showstopper with endless possibilities. With its luxurious decor, polished wood floors, and hand-painted tapestries, this space exudes sophistication. The venue also features a stage and dance floor with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, adding a modern touch to the elegant setting. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]This shoot was inspired by wanting to showcase not only beautiful décor but a dining experience where the food completed the design palette.

The floral and decor needed to complement each other and showcase the palette in a subtle way. Apricot Floral brought in the butter yellow and touches of lilac in the form of the orchids she designed with, dripped beautifully over the ceremony pedestals. We used the softest shade of blush in our stemware and the olive green came through in the pillow throughout the banquettes and paper bows that tied the invitation suite Jill Elaine Designs created.[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]With a focus on fresh, light flavors, summer produce and elevated presentation, the multi-course menu showed that creating a fine-dining style experience for guests can be a wonderful way to provide unexpected experiential culinary moments throughout dinner. This light summer menu included a starter course of Watermelon and Pecorino Napoleon, Aged Balsamic and Fresh Basil. A salad course followed of Summer Squash, Avocado Crema and an Herby Microgreen Salad. The main entrée was a beautiful Seared Sea Bass with Poached Asparagus, Couscous Risotto and a Green Olive Salsa Verde. Finally, dessert was a Strawberry Rhubarb Bavarois with Elderflower, Orange and Pistachio.

When concepting a shoot, we always start with one or two main focal points and for this design it was the Sunset Round Banquettes from Collected & Co. partnered with the delicate pattern of Marigold Charleston linen from Nuage Designs. The way the colors worked off of each other at their respective tablescapes made the space feel cohesive.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]How to Make an Impact with Banquette Seating:

Banquette style seating will wow your guests and create an upscale atmosphere to your event. Here are four ways to incorporate this style of seating into your next event.

• Use banquettes or taller sofas at your cocktail hour with small bistro tables and chairs across for relaxed comfortable seating for your guests.
• Partner banquettes with dining chairs for your reception seating to give that mixed seating look at a table.
• Connect a row of back-to-back banquettes running down the center of your event space with statement floral between the back of the banquettes or a ground floral arrangement.
• Bring curved banquets to the outside of your reception space to give dimension into the space.

Tips for Designing a Fine Dining Style Menu with Your Caterer:
• Select a caterer who has experience with elevated flavors and precise plating along with a culinary and service team who can execute these dishes for a large group.
• Allow the seasons to guide your menu. Nothing will ever taste better than when it is in season in your part of the world.
• Keep your guest’s menu preferences in mind while remaining true to how you like to eat as a couple.
• Trust your chef! Custom menus are only as good as the information and preferences you’re willing to share as you begin menu design, and your chef’s creativity to turn your tastes into something spectacular. Trust their process as they create ways to bring your vision to life within the setting of the wedding.

A Sweet Summer Wedding Chicago Surrounded by Unexpected Wildlife

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette of ivory and dark green harmonized with the incredible architecture of our venue and our blush and ivory floral arrangements[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision of the day was “The Mane Event”. Being the first wedding reception to be held in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo Lion’s Den, the couple, along with their wedding design team, wanted to embrace the lion’s home as a key role in their wedding day. Guests were surrounded by families of lions as they enjoyed cocktail hour and reception events. The design included a magnificent combination of elegance and uniqueness.
As one of the largest wedding parties we have photographed to date, it was very important to the bride and groom that they were surrounded by all of their friends and that everyone had fun.

“Our wedding day was everything we could have ever dreamed of. Sean’s uncle married us at St. Michael Catholic Church in Old Town and after, we celebrated at the Pepper Family Wildlife Center (Lion House) at Lincoln Park Zoo. I chose a Winnie Couture satin a-line gown adorned with lace details and exposed boning, coupled with a lace cathedral length veil. Our color palette of ivory and dark green harmonized with the incredible architecture of our venue and our blush and ivory floral arrangements, carefully crafted by Thistle & Plume. We chose a menu that encompassed some of our favorite foods, including a seared filet mignon and a blackberry mojito salmon. Vanille, one of our go-to local bakeries, created the most beautiful and delicious three-tiered wedding cake. We danced with our closest family and friends all night to Bluewater Kings Band, and were absolutely delighted that the lions decided to join the evening all night! Elle Taylor Photography captured each moment perfectly for us to remember forever, and Ohana Events turned each dream into a reality for us on the best day of our lives.” – From the Bride[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]”Sean, knowing Christmastime is my absolute favorite time of the year, planned the most perfect holiday proposal. We went to dinner in Gold Coast at one of our favorite steakhouses, Gibson’s, and then went for a walk to see the Christmas tree at the Waldorf Astoria. As we approached the tree, he knelt down and reached for the hidden “present” engagement ring. Our entire family ran out to surprise and celebrate with us. Having everyone together in that moment meant the world to us. It will forever be one of my favorite memories!” – From the Bride[/field]

Transforming a Blank Space Into the Couple’s Dream Wedding at Four Seasons Hotel Toronto

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Vanessa and Adam envisioned a completely transformed ballroom that would leave guests in awe. The room was draped floor to ceiling in “Mink” by Eventure Design, complemented by Reznick’s “Latte” carpet, creating a fresh backdrop for a sea of pink roses designed by Stemz. Inspired by the artistry of Jeff Leatham, pink roses were the focal point, adding a touch of enchantment to the Four Seasons Aria Ballroom. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]On April 2, 2022, Adam proposed to Vanessa in their newly built home. Although they hadn’t yet moved in, Adam orchestrated a memorable moment by telling Vanessa they were meeting a technician. Instead, upon arrival, she was greeted by a path of candles and flowers leading to the family room. There, in front of the fireplace, Adam had prepared a stunning arrangement of candles and flowers. He got down on one knee and proposed. Following the proposal, both their families joined them to celebrate with champagne and a charcuterie board.[/field]

They were met with a plethora of passed canapés, oyster station and the couple’s signature cocktails, an Aperol Spritz and Negroni. Once the guests were seated among the sea of pink centrepieces and stunning tablescape, they were met with a four course meal of which included Peppercorn Crusted Beef Tenderloin with Lobster Tail and Thyme & Garlic Black Cod.
Vanessa and Adam’s late night offerings consisted of Chick-Fil-A menu items such as their crispy chicken burger and nuggets all sealed with a custom branded sticker of the couple’s logo that was present throughout the wedding festivities designed by Paper & Poste. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]With the collaborative design between MUSE Event Co. and Stemz, the Four Seasons Hotel ballroom was transformed with a stunning display featuring hundreds of pink roses. The 16-foot cherry blossom trees in the centre of the ballroom served as a breathtaking focal point as Vanessa and Adam’s guests entered the space. This floral elegance extended to the seating chart, which was adorned with mounds of pink hydrangeas, perfectly complementing the impressive 8-foot tall display designed by Reznick Events and Paper & Poste. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The three-tiered cake and sweet table, designed by Nadia and Co., seamlessly incorporated Vanessa’s vision and the overall design by featuring brushed pink hues and roses throughout the entirety of the display.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Live music added a beautiful touch to Vanessa and Adam’s ceremony. A live string quartet played Vanessa down the aisle as light flooded into Trinity Chapel. After exchanging vows, Vanessa and Adam walked back down the aisle as a married couple to the tune of “Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift, creating a magical moment not only for them but everyone in attendance. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Vanessa’s love for Taylor Swift was beautifully woven throughout the entire day. From the seating chart adorned with the phrase “At Every Table I’ll Save You a Seat” to their enchanting first dance to “Lover,” it was truly a dream come true for any Swiftie![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]An editorial space in the Four Seasons Hotel was designed by MUSE Event Co. with the vision of giving Vanessa and Adam’s bridal party portraits a unique feel. Furniture from Detailz and a drape line designed by Eventure created the perfect backdrop for 515 Photo Co. to beautifully capture the drama of the crafted space. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Trinity Chapel, part of Trinity College at the University of Toronto, provided a stunning historical backdrop for Vanessa and Adam’s ceremony. Founded in 1851, Trinity College Chapel is renowned for its beautiful architecture and intricate mid-Victorian stained glass windows, making it a cherished landmark in Toronto. The light flooding in through the stained-glass windows was the perfect complement to Vanessa’s gown, illuminating her down the aisle. [/field]

Where to Honeymoon Based on How You Spend Your Saturday

Picking a honeymoon location can be so difficult when there are countless amazing travel destinations around the world! If you and your partner are having a hard time narrowing down your list, then a great place to start is by examining how you spend your Saturdays.

Do you two typically go for active adventures like hiking, seek total relaxation in napping, catching up on TV series and reading, or do you enjoy partying and nightlife, or do you prioritize cooking and eating great food? Figure out the types of activities you enjoy the most and then find a destination that best caters to those interests! After all, how you choose to spend your free time on your Saturdays is a great indicator of how you’d like to honeymoon!

How you spend your Saturday: Working out and being active
Where you should honeymoon: Costa Rica
Costa Rica offers the best of both worlds for active couples. On the one hand, there’s the ocean and the jungle for exploring, surfing, running, kayaking, zip lining, and horseback riding. But there are equally beautiful beaches and luxury hotels made for relaxing, reading and spending quality time with each other as well.

How you spend your Saturday: Cooking and trying new restaurants
Where you should honeymoon: Italy
While not exactly a groundbreaking destination, if food is your passion, there is no place in the world quite like Italy. Take your time and make your way throughout the country, sampling the dishes that are famous to each region. While Tuscany is the obvious choice for wine tastings, cooking classes, and exploring charming villages and medieval towns, don’t miss the Amalfi Coast for fresh seafood and limoncello, Naples for the pizza, and the cacio e pepe in Rome.

How you spend your Saturday: Relaxing, napping and reading books
Where you should honeymoon: Maldives
The Maldives are an isolated paradise, with crystal clear blue waters, luxury resorts, and endless beaches and reefs to explore. While you can spend your time diving and exploring the 1,192 coral islands, you’d also be just as happy heading to the world-class spas, taking a dip in your private plunge pool in your overwater bungalow, or lounging on an empty beach with a great book, a cocktail and your brand-new hubby!

How you spend your Saturday: Partying
Where you should honeymoon: Greece
While the Greek Islands are most known for their stunning landscapes, rich history, picturesque villages, and sparkling white and blue buildings, they are also home to some pretty lively night scenes. So for those who like to spend their Saturdays socializing and drinking with friends, you can’t miss the island of Mykonos, which comes alive during the summer with live music, DJs, a rowdy bar scene and hip beach clubs to let loose at during the day.

How you spend your Saturday: Going on new adventures
Where you should honeymoon: Botswana
A Safari is the ultimate adventure, where each day you’ll rise early to set out in search of the most magnificent creatures of the animal kingdom. Botswana boasts some of Africa’s best luxury camp sites, game-viewing, stunning landscapes, and natural game. After the thrilling game drives during the day, you can dine and sleep under the stars, gearing up for the next day’s adventures.

A private tasting in the spring helped us choose our meals, and our absolute favorite were the hors d’oeuvres like local whipped goat cheese with smoked strawberry jam, balsamic caviar and mint on toasted baguette. Our signature drinks were the bride’s French 75, the groom’s Kentucky Mule, and “Maple’s mocktail” a refreshing mix of sparkling water, lemon, simple syrup, with a sprig of mint over plenty of crushed ice.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Anna’s Blooms created soft and whimsical textures with lush greenery and pops of in season blooms. Centerpieces were a mix of floral bouquets in ceramic footed vases, and wooden lodge lanterns nested in greenery. The head table was a lively mix of colorful tapered candles in glass hurricanes, sprigs of greenery, and bud vases. Woven baskets clustered over the dance floor created a focal point within the tent.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]For our mid-July wedding, we opted for a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cart! Featured flavors were Phish Food, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Berry Sorbet. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″] Our sweet golden retriever Maple was a big part of the day in many ways. The groom’s sister walked her down the aisle in her “Marguerite” Dog Bandana from the Foggy Dog. Mary from Printerette dress captured Maple perfectly in our custom “Save the Date” and as part of the details card. And it wouldn’t be a Vermont wedding without sending everyone home with real Vermont maple syrup, a.k.a. our “Maple’s syrup” favors.

A Modern Ice Blue and Gray Wedding at Columbus Museum of Art

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Ice Blue, Gray, Taupe, Cream[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our design process began with the desire to honor both the historic romance and modernity found at Columbus Museum of Art. Ultimately the design was a direct reflection of the couple. The celebration felt soft, joyous, romantic yet modern. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The annual PGA Memorial Tournament in Dublin, OH was taking place in May of 2023 and Nick convinced Larissa he needed her to accompany him to a post tournament client event at Antiques on High, a local cocktail lounge where Nick and Larissa had their first date (which lasted 9 hours!) and a spot they frequent with friends on the weekend. The day of, unsuspecting Larissa couldn’t be roused from a nap until 10 minutes before they had to depart for the “client event”. Unphased, Larissa febrezed a dress from the laundry hamper and brushed her hair on the way to the car while Nick observed nervously. Upon arrival, Larissa couldn’t stop commenting on how awkward it was to have roses on the ground at a client event and questioning why no one had shown up yet. It wasn’t until Larissa spotted the photographer in the corner that she realized what was happening. Exactly 1 year later, Larissa said yes to forever in the same spot where they had their first date and celebrated with spicy margs, the same cocktails they had when meeting.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]For dinner, guests enjoyed butter poached filet and seared scallops prepared by the Columbus Museum of Art culinary team. Specialty cocktails included spicy margaritas and espresso martinis. Late night indulgence offered local pizza delivery and tacos. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Both the ceremony and reception spaces were centered around dreams of larger than life floral installation. Larissa and Nick’s ceremony space sported a 15 foot garden arch with lush meadow arrangements to frame seating. While, a vast cloud of baby’s breath and custom fabricated light shades became the center of the reception design. Morgan and the Blooms by Morgan team executed flawlessly. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was five tiers styled with a cascade of roses and hellebores by Lavender and Honey. Each tier was a different flavor with the largest tier being the bride’s favorite earl grey.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Larissa and her mother walked down the aisle hand in hand to a harp and violin duo.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]To keep tradition with Bride Larissa’s parents, all flowers were donated via Stems for Seniors to local nursing homes and Hospice care. Over one hundred and twenty arrangements were delivered across Columbus in the following days.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Larissa and Nick spent a month honeymooning abroad. Their journey began in the ancient city of Athens, Greece learning about Greek mythology and marveling at the historical ruins. From there, they island hopped the picturesque Cyclades where they enjoyed incredible cuisine and pristine beaches. After a few blissful weeks in the Greek islands, Nick and Larissa embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime safari in Tanzania, Africa. Surrounded by the majestic Serengeti plains and descending into the Ngorongoro crater, they witnessed incredible wildlife sightings from game drives and sunrise hot air balloon rides. Nick and Larissa’s honeymoon was a magical blend of cultures, relaxation, and adventure, creating memories that will last a lifetime.[/field]

Alligators, Rattan, and Palmettos Oh My! A Spring Wedding in Lowcountry at Sea Pines Resort

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors chosen for this wedding revolved around the Lowcountry — lots of greens, with pops of oranges, blues, peaches, creams, and pinks. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision was truly to celebrate the Lowcountry, from the alligators featured on the invitation suite to the rattan details featured at each guest table. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Oh my word, the wedding gown! It was a stunning piece from Martina Liana that, alone, was beyond incredible, but combined with the off-the-shoulder puff-sleeve cape, blew everyone away! The bride also added a stunning veil with hand-stitched florals, tying together her bridal look with every bit of florals. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids chose their own dresses in floral patterns that allowed each bridesmaid’s personality to shine while adding a lot of depth to the design of the wedding day.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Cocktail hour featured passed champagne, hors d’Oeuvres, and raw oysters. Dinner was a seated meal with local fish, pasta, and steak.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The bride, along with Casa Felix, designed an invitation suite that showcased her favorite things about the Lowcountry — palm and palmetto fronds, alligators, and tropical colors. The floral design was based around that, with touches of tropical oranges and yellows and lush white blooms throughout the bouquets and centerpieces. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a stunning, three tiered treat with simple, clean lines and surrounded by gorgeous florals — and the best part was: the cake was funfetti![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple ADORES the game of golf and frequently plays together. Their cocktail hour featured a putting green for the guests (and eventually the couple!) to enjoy.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The groom’s best man was his brother who also officiated their wedding! Knowing the couple’s history and some hilarious anecdotes added a personal, beautiful touch to the ceremony.[/field]
