This Fashionista Bride Is Our New Girl Crush

I think we can all agree Casandra is our new fashion idol. She geniusly paired a chic knee-length BCBG dress with a cathedral length veil for a nontraditional bridal look that stole the show. Big time. Her love Andy looked equally dapper as they wed in Panama City Beach, with Myrtie Blue behind every floral design moment. Pin your heart out in the photo gallery by Shannon Griffin Photography.

From Shannon Griffin Photography Casandra and Andy live in Brooklyn, but decided they wanted a beach, destination wedding. While they wanted it to feel like their guests were at the beach, they also made sure it felt elegant and timeless. They chose Brian of Myrtie Blue to do the florals with soft, romantic colors.

The bride wasn’t traditional in any sense and knew that a long and formal dress wasn’t for her. She chose a knee length BCBG dress with a gorgeous cathedral length veil. Casandra got ready at one of the beautiful homes in Carillon Beach and the ceremony took place in The Meeting House. The reception was tented and on the lawn next to The Meeting House. The ceremony was so full that they had to put chairs outside and people were still pouring in.

From Elizabeth FogartyWhen planning a fall wedding on the coast line of Maryland with a timeless style and perfectly in love couple, there can not be much more to look forward to. Amelia and Jake tied the knot at Silver Swan Bayside in late October surrounded by their loved ones and all the lush blooms and foliage you could ask for. From the beautiful calligraphy boards by the bride, to the speeches by family members, to the plan B ceremony, everything was perfect.

On the wedding day, we woke up to the windiest and coldest day that fall on the shore. We quickly realized that the outdoor ceremony plans would have to be moved indoors. With positive hearts and an incredible team of professionals, we moved Amelia’s garden inspired look inside flawlessly. They shared their vows under a beautiful arch by Blossom & Vine, then head into a soft and elegant cocktail space overlooking the bayside. Jake’s priceless reaction to his beautiful bride-to-be walking down the aisle was the best representation of their love, and was one of my favorite moments.

Amelia and Jake made a point to involve their families wherever possible, and it made the day that much more special. Amelia’s brother started off the reception with a heart felt toast then asked all the guests to the dining room for dinner followed by toasts by her father, sister and Jake’s brother. The enjoyed their meal over hand crafted farm tables and candle light. The rest of the night consisted of many laughs, happy tears, a full dance floor and the start to an incredible life surrounded by all of their favorite people.

Fate Brought These Two Together – And They Celebrated With Fireworks!

They attended the same high school and college, but never met until post graduation, when both were in Chicago. With the groom’s brother playing matchmaker, it all came together and before they knew it, they were saying “I do” back where it all could have started, in Tucson, Arizona. And back at their hometown, they celebrated in a BIG way – with Black Sheep Filmworks capturing the chic style, the sweet kisses and even the fireworks! See it all right this way!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/179072749 600 338]

From Black Sheep FilmworksOh, Annie and Sean…so swoon-worthy! From that incredible Monique Lhuillier wedding gown, to those red-soled Christian Louboutin’s for BOTH bride and groom, to suspended floral rings to FIREWORKS, Annie and Sean had one of the most chock full of “eye candy” weddings ever.

Annie and Sean both grew up in Tucson, attended Sabino High School, and the University of Arizona… and NEVER met each other! They both moved to Chicago after graduating from the U of A and it was Sean’s brother that introduced them. Sean stated that he was “Going to marry that girl” after their first date, so obviously, fate finally stepped in and these two gorgeous Tucson lovebirds finally found each other!

Love letters that Annie and Sean had written to each other were opened on the day, and read aloud, privately. This was incorporated into their highlight film, as per Annie’s request, and it really connects you to their love story. Not only are they beautiful, with great style, but they are “Oh-SO” in love. Their family and friends (close to 250 of them!) came from all across the globe to take part in this soirée.

Special touches filled Annie and Sean’s wedding. From red soled Christian Louboutin’s for both bride and groom, to the placement of a Mexican lasso during the ceremony, to a wishing tree instead of a guest book, no detail was overlooked. Sean even surprised Annie with fireworks during the reception. This was truly a gorgeous, spicy, “beaming smile” wedding… Bravo, Annie and Sean!!!

Boho Chic Wedding on the Beaches of Anguilla

If you’ve ever dreamed of a wedding on the beaches of the Caribbean, glistening ocean as the backdrop with sand squished between your toes – take note from this Anguilla “I do.” Destination wedding extraordinaire, Michelle Rago brought her expertise to the table with paper pretties by Cheree Berry Paper, and it all made for an epic day captured by Braedon Photography. This way to sunny skies and so much more.

From Michelle Rago Destinations… The bride’s father has a gorgeous home on Anguilla where we were able to host both the ceremony and cocktails, which created such a sense of intimacy and family. Eliza was able to get ready in her bedroom and walk straight out past the pool and face the sea for their ceremony.

The inspiration was Bohemian Chic for ceremony. We created a chuppah out of driftwood collected throughout the year and adorned with orchids and hydrangea. We also accentuated the aisle with manzanita and orchids.

The reception dinner and late night fun took place at the Malliouhana Hotel, where Eliza and Chris got engaged. We transformed the restaurant which sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

The ceiling was strung with orchids and hanging candles which twinkled and swayed in the breeze. The centerpieces were all white, lush and low. The flowers were white hydrangea and dendrobium and phalaenopsis orchids. We created a lounge for dancing under the stars after dinner and then moved guests up to the pool for late night dance party with fun lighting!

A Romantic Seaside Wedding for University Sweethearts

My favorite kind of wedding doesn’t rest on one style, one detail, intimate or grand… no, it’s a setting. And that setting is seaside time and again (I’m a little biased, yes). That’s exactly why this coastal fete from Charlotte Jenks Lewis gets my heart a racing. The tented reception thanks to Stamford Tent & Event Services is something out of a dream and when you’ve got portrait backdrops like this and a sweet film from eMotion Pictures, nothing can compare.

Romantic

From the Bride… Our love story began when we met at Miami University of Ohio, at the age of 20. The relationship blossomed, visiting each other over the summers, getting to know our respective close knit families and friends from home, and even included a romantic Paris trip during Pat’s junior semester abroad. I grew up in New York, and Pat in Michigan. With graduation approaching, he took a job in Manhattan while I lined up a job in the area, and we were ecstatic about the beginning the next phase in our relationship. Looking back, I think it was really a turning point. Seven years after our first meeting, Pat proposed at my family’s lake house in New Hampshire with both sets of our parents there to celebrate.

Planning a wedding is an exciting time but it can also be stressful while working, navigating expectations, communicating combined family members, while all the while working through multiple decisions and logistics. My advice to all the brides-to-be is to enjoy every moment, keeping the little things in perspective and making the important decisions in a fun, flexible and collaborative way. I enjoyed the special expeditions with my mom, the times celebrating with friends and the comical dance lessons with my soon-to-be husband. There is a point when all the parts start to come together and you realize the real purpose of the planning. It goes very quickly, but it’s all part of building a life together.

When planning our wedding, we wanted something that reflected our personalities. We chose to get married on the water in Rye, a place where I spent many of my summers and Pat quickly developed a connection to. We chose natural but elegant décor. Lots of greens, whites, and pastels filled our wedding tent set on the Long Island Sound. We were lucky to have one of the most spectacular days of the summer for the wedding day. The water was sparkling, the breezes were gentle and the sun was glistening. Pat and I shared our first dance, touched by a sense that the perfect weather was a special marriage blessing and beloved friends and family encircled us with a breathtaking sunset in the backdrop.

Everyone always says that your wedding day is the most amazing day of your life, and trust me, it exceeded all expectations. Our favorite part of the day was having everyone we loved in one room. It is so overwhelming to see that many people come together, from different stages of your lives, and know that they are there to support you in your marriage journey for many years to come.

Proof That There is a Way Out of the Dreaded Friend Zone

These friends turned fiances are the living proof that getting out of the friend zone is completely possible. They teamed up with We Are Origami to frolic through the hills of The Southern Highlands and capture that special time before “I Do”. It’s an engagement that’s both whimsical and ethereal and the light? Pure magic. See the full shoot with some seriously stylish outfit changes right here in the vault.

From the photographer… The setting for Kim and Justin’s engagement shoot was romantic, whimsical and simple. There was an ethereal pink hue over the day, and gorgeous light on the grounds of Milton Park and the the surrounding fields. Brides will draw inspiration from the romantic scenes which depict the iconic Southern Highlands in a completely unique way to reflect Kim and Justin’s gentle relationship. Kim mentioned, “for as long as we’ve dated, it’s been a really enjoyable easy relationship. Even if there’s conflict, we fight very fairly and resolve things with ease, understanding, patience and compromise.” The heartbeat behind their relationship is ‘falling in love and growing together forever.’ We couldn’t think of a better description! He loved her at first glance… And she loved him two and a half years later! “Justin always had his eye on me, and was interested from the beginning (so he claims), but I didn’t quite feel the same until 2. 5 years later.” No wonder they describe their relationship as patient, perseverant and understanding. It wasn’t until they bonded over pursuing photography by shooting together at Milson’s point in Sydney, when the ‘friendzone’ walls were conquered! It was fitting that they found an absolutely gorgeous location for their engagement photos, valuing photography and treasuring these moments we shared together.

Rustic Romance Abounds With This Wedding Day Inspo

We hung out with some boho bridesmaids, had a romantic romp with these lovebirds and kept it simple and chic with this bridal shoot. And now, last but not least, is Jeremy Chou’s Tuscan inspired shoot from The Process Workshop. Rustic and intimate, this shoot captures a couple in love and the beautiful tablescape created by Cedarwood Weddings where they’ll toast to their happily ever after. But enough text – head to our Vault to see the good stuff!

From Jeremy ChouAs fresh and natural as Italian vineyards along the hills of Tuscany, the Cedarwood Weddings design team combined sophisticated and refined alfresco elements to create a dream destination wedding style in Nashville, TN. Bringing together sunny golden hues in peach, apricot, and butterscotch, the rich colored flowers and natural elements are sure to induce a daydream of sun-drenched meadows and rolling hills.

Clean lines reminiscent of vineyard vines in rows inspired simple but luxe table settings with modern gold flatware and pale green linen napkins contrasted by warm wood and tattered edge seating assignments tucked into the forks. Aged Tuscan urns act as statement bases to both the lush asymmetrical centerpiece and natural arch ceremony altar covered in foraged vines and sunny peach and apricot flowers.

The bride perfectly complements the overall aesthetic with a sophisticated long sleeve lace gown, sleek ponytail, and an unstructured bouquet of airy sunny tones finished off with hand dyed silk apricot ribbon from Honey Silk & Co.

A paper suite from Designs in Paper showcases vintage romance with gold foil details, hand torn edges, and a modern monogram gracing the envelope liner. To complete the look, a combed buttercream cake from Patty Cakes atop of gilded base and finished off with vines and blooms.

Santorini Set the Stage for a Modern, Minimalist Wedding We Adore

Ever since I first saw The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Santorini has held the #1 spot on my travel bucket list. I mean, with scenery like this can you even blame me? It’s a slice of heaven on earth and Danielle and Jay felt the very same. They exchanged vows in this incredible locale, with vendors like Santorini Glam WeddingsBetty Flowers Santorini and Ben Yew by their side. The result? Utter perfection.

From Santorini Glam WeddingsIf we had to describe Santorini in two words then it would definitely be “white” and “unique view”. Danielle & Jay’s wedding took place at Rocabella Hotel, a venue which combines these two words and provides the perfect white canvas for us to work on!

Of course, such a special place needs discreet and delicate decoration in order to complete the unique landscape and not overshadow it. We started the planning process only a few months prior to the wedding, and I have to admit that when our journey reached this spectacular day, all I wanted was for this day to last as long as possible.

Danielle had a very clear idea of what she likes, and I just loved the way she wanted to incorporate Greek elements into the decoration and styling of the wedding. I still remember those late evening (early morning for her) Skype calls brainstorming all possible ideas until we found the perfect elements for her dream wedding!

What made this wedding so special, apart from the couple of course, was the amazing team of people working behind it. We always advise and guide our couples to pick their vendors carefully. When you work with people you trust and who share the same vision as you, the result is unbelievable.

How to Please Your Bridesmaids When Everyone’s Got an Opinion

Deciding on my bridesmaids was very special. In a way, it was like a walk down memory lane. Together, my eight bridesmaids represented the different parts of my life, from my school years to my stint on The Bachelor. Of course, the thought of juggling eight different opinions, styles, and personalities was intimidating – but that was all part of the fun. Here’s how I made sure everyone felt included while maintaining my sanity!

Take Their Opinions Into Account

We’ve all been in that wedding where we were forced to wear that dress. You know, the $300 satin monstrosity that hasn’t seen the light of day since you stuffed into the back of your closet after the wedding. I didn’t want that to happen with my bridesmaids so I invited them into the decision-making process. Now, you want to be careful with this because you don’t want to be overwhelmed with opinions. But it’s always fun to go on a shopping day with your girls. You can pop some bubbly and sit back while they model for you. At the same time, you already have a sense for what they like and absolutely hate. No matter what you decide, they’ll appreciate you taking the time to hear their fashion thoughts and opinions.

Be Budget Conscious

Ugh, nobody likes thinking about money! I used to work in a bridal salon as a consultant and I witnessed countless brides struggling to balance their budgets against their dreams. When it came to my bridesmaids, I was aware that they would be sacrificing their time and money to be in my wedding. As such, I did everything I could to show them my appreciation. For your maids, be sensitive to their unique situations. Maybe one is in school right now and can’t swing a super expensive bridesmaid dress. Overall, the most important thing is that these women are in your life – not whether they’re wearing a designer gown.

Find compromises, like renting your bridesmaid dresses. Your friendship is the most important thing and should come first- always!

Go For Different Necklines

As a bridal designer, I had a vision for my wedding. I knew I wanted my girls in long, flowing dresses in a particular shade of pinkish red that would feel fashion-forward yet romantic. However, my bridesmaids had different body types. When I used to be a consultant, I loved helping women discover their best styles for themselves. Naturally, I wanted to do the same for my bridesmaids! Even though the dresses were all the same color and similar in style, I picked a unique neckline tailored to each girl’s frame. At the end of the day, the most important thing was that they could dance all night long next to me without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions.

If you want a unified look, you can still get one by doing the same thing. Nowadays, there are tons of bridesmaid designers that offer dresses with different necklines. This way, you can highlight each girl’s features while giving them any support they may need. For example, if you have a busty bridesmaid, you can put her in a style with straps – she’ll get lift and will still be able to wear a bra.

Just Set Perimeters

Another bridesmaid fashion approach is to take the non-approach! Trust your girls? Want a mix and match look? Let your ladies pick their own frocks. Of course, you’ll want to set some perimeters (the last thing you want is to have one girl in light blue chiffon while another one is in navy charmeuse). Send them inspirational photos and a few guiding principles, like hue and length. And, just so you don’t induce any night terrors relating to bridesmaid dress disasters, ask to approve the gowns ahead of time and reserve your veto power! But don’t worry – your girls have great taste and, most of all, they want to make you happy.

At The End Of The (Wedding) Day

Looking back on my wedding planning, I don’t remember the stresses or the little things that went wrong. I remember my closest girlfriends holding my hands on the dance floor and raising a glass to Chris and I. So guess what? No matter how tricky it might get to navigate the various dynamics with your bridesmaids, when it’s over, all you’ll think about are those happy blurs of dancing, hugging, and celebrating.

Are You Styling Your Coffee Table All Wrong?

Cute coffee tables are a mainstay in a well designed living room. But if that table is naked or, worse yet, strewn with confused bits and bobbles it can put a major damper on the whole space. Christine Andrew of Hello Fashion is coming to the rescue with 5 must haves for a well executed tabletop. And if her newly revamped living room made gorgeous at the hands of High Fashion Home is any indication, she knows just what she’s talking about.

The 5 Things Every Coffee Table Needs

Your living room is arguably the space in your home that will say the most about you to guests and visitors and the center piece of every living room is your coffee table – so make sure you know what it says about you! I’m excited to share my living room redesigned in partnership with High Fashion Home and share 5 things every coffee table should have.

Something to read

101 of coffee table decor is something to read. Think books that are easy and entertaining to flip through. Books are also great as a design element to bring in patterns and textures or as a base to stack and layer with other pieces. Don’t forget to check under book covers – sometimes hardcover books are even cuter underneath!

Something for all ages

Every coffee table should have something fun as an option to keep your guests occupied and entertained. I love this brass tic-tac-toe set that is just as much fun for a 5 year old as a 50 year old.

Something personal

The personal touches are the ones that really make a house a home, and a coffee table is a great place to bring those elements. Whether it’s a book that means something to you, postcards from your recent adventures, or pieces from a collection, guests will love getting a glimpse of something personal.

Something floral

Every room needs a vase full or flowers or a pretty plant to bring some life into the space. Investing in faux flowers is a great move, especially when it comes to the coffee table! A quality faux floral arrangement will look real and also save you money in the long run, plus they are a lot less maintenance than fresh flowers.

Something scented

I am such a sucker for candles! They can add a lot of texture and interest to a space who doesn’t love a good scent to add some ambience to the room?

A Wedding that Blends New England with a Classic San Francisco Setting

This wedding is all about blending East Coast and West Coast in the prettiest of ways with a couple that has roots in New England and a home in San Francisco. They hosted all their favorite people for a celebration made gorgeous at the hands of Ruby & Rose, along with florals by Amanda Vidmar and imagery by Anna Delores Photography. Peek at the whole beautiful affair along with a film by Kindred Weddings below!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/188451553 600 338]

From the planner… Lindsay and Curt were clear on their wedding day goals from the beginning: a traditional Catholic ceremony, followed by a black-tie bash that was as elegant as it was playful and fun, which is not an easy balance to strike! Upon entering the courtyard at cocktail hour, guests were greeted with Caribbean-style steel drum music, an oyster bar, and free-flowing champagne. Following dinner, the festivities continued with more live music, and eschewing the traditional wedding cake, guests were treated to a giant wall of donuts and three different kinds of boozy milkshakes. In designing the reception space at the Flood Mansion, we drew on Lindsay’s love of antiques and Deco style (influences from her childhood in New England) as natural sources of inspiration. To highlight the opulent, classical style of the architectural elements and details at the Flood, we used a warm, neutral color palette of white, ivory, gold, and dark wood, with shades of blue as an accent color. Amanda Vidmar of Amanda Vidmar Design created lush, elegant, textural floral pieces in whites and greens, which complemented and softened the space. We were all especially smitten with Lindsay’s bridal bouquet, which featured garden roses, Lily of the Valley, hydrangea (another nod to East Coast roots), tulips, and jasmine vine, tied together with trailing blue and white velvet ribbon.

8 Things To Do the Night Before Your Wedding

You’ve made it! The Big Day is TOMORROW and all those months of planning and decision making have paid off. It’s time to kick back and relax before you say I Do to the love of your life. But before you do, here are 8 things to keep in mind the evening before your wedding.

Set Aside Time for Just You Two

Weddings usually involve lots of family and friends and if you’re planning a rehearsal dinner the night before, it’s easy to find yourself chatting away with everyone else BUT your love. Set aside some time to go for a walk or watch the sunset and have a moment to soak it all in, together.

Shine Up that Sparkler

That gem is the star of the show my friends and you’ll have everyone grabbing your hand tomorrow to get a close up look at it. Make sure it give it a good polishing before the Big Day!

Break Tradition and Sleep in the Same Bed

My hubs and I tossed several well-known traditions out the door like the garter/bouquet toss, the dollar dance and sleeping in separate rooms. Of course, this is such a personal decision! But we opted not to because we wanted our wedding day to start like any other and there was nothing sweeter than rolling over to say good morning on the day we said I do. I say ditch this tradition the night before the wedding if you want!

Use Rehearsal Dinner Time Wisely

The wedding day itself will be a happy whirlwind of moments to soak in, but try not to cram too many of those moments in that one day. Having a rehearsal dinner is a great way to celebrate some of those memories the night before your wedding. This might be when you give your parents and/or bridal party their gifts or a perfect time to give a speech and toast those who’ve helped the most in your planning process.

Hit Up the Spa

Forget the morning of, friends. Hit up the spa the evening before your Big Day! Not only will this give you more time to enjoy the morning of your wedding but a massage and a glass of vino is just the ticket to work out those stressful months of planning now behind you.

Recruit Help for Last Minute Details

There will always be last-minute details. Whether you’ve got a planner, coordinator or you’re relying on your bridal party—make sure to utilize those people and not take on last-minute snafus yourself.

Read through Your Vows

Writing your own vows? Take a minute the night before your wedding (or the morning of!) to read through them. Those sweet words are what your day is all about. It doesn’t mean you have to have them memorized—they make some pretty cute books for these kinds of things! But it’s always a good idea to do a last run through beforehand.

Double-Check You’ve Got it All

Juuuust incase. Even if you’re super organized and wrote a million lists in advance to make sure you don’t forget anything, it’s always a good idea to lay out those items the evening before and do a last minute check. Tell your groom to do the same!

How This Couple’s Two Dogs Brought Them Together

Chad and Veronica were distant acquaintances at their gym for nearly 3 years, but it wasn’t until they struck up a conversation that they realized how much they had in common. Most importantly, their beloved chocolate lab dogs. And get this – those chocolate labs are the exact same age and share the exact SAME NAME. Call if fate, call it chance…we call it meet-cute perfection, and Kate Weinstein’s photos beautifully capture the love.

From Veronica, the bride-to-be… We had mutual friends so we knew of each other for 3 years. We were members of the same gym, but in that time we never had a single conversation. A simple “Hi, how are you” or a “See ya” at the gym may have been spoken a time or two but other than that, we were just in different places in our lives. After some time, we found ourselves talking to each other for the first time and realized we had an undeniable connection.

It just so happened that Chad had a chocolate lab he got in college. Well, I had the same story. I got a chocolate lab, out of the blue, in college as well. What makes this story even weirder is that we both named them Hunter. Two chocolate labs, same names, same age. It was just meant to be!

Within the next few weeks, we were out for a mutual friends birthday party. I remember he grabbed me and said “This may sound crazy but I think we are supposed to be together.” Eight months later we were engaged and the rest is history! We now live happily ever after with our chocolate labs, Hunter & Hunter, and will tie the knot this fall.”

Simplicity + Sophistication Come Together In Style

There’s beauty in simplicity; we hear it time and time again. But well, some cliches are popular for a reason and this shoot proves just that. It’s Day 2 of our Process Workshop deep dive and this morning we have a styled shoot courtesy of Michael and Carina Photography. With Cedarwood Weddings once again making magic, it’s a treat for tired eyes. See every pretty pic in our Vault right this way!

From Michael and CarinaBeauty is often found in simplicity and inspired by Historic Ceadrwood’s grounds aged stone walkways and rolling meadows, the design team embraces refined natural beauty in a sophisticated palette of slate, white and greenery. A community style table set against the venue’s front hedge is lined with clear acrylic chairs and draped in grey linens. A graceful hand made foliage garland drapes off the table as a nod to the lush green surroundings found on this historic Southern estate. Pure and simple settings selected to focus on clean lines and natural beauty, accented by sophisticated white sage sprigs.

Cedarwood’s historic Southern front porch draped in greenery vines is the perfect clean backdrop for the bride’s portrait session. She is the epitome of refined beauty in her sleek, sophisticated silk gown and romantic updo.

Repeating the clean palette, an invitation suite from Designs in Paper in shades of grey is styled for photos using only simple white petals and glass atop grassy ground. To complete the style a simple single tier cake by Patty Cakes was accented with delicate dusty greens and a pure glass base.

From a Beach Proposal to a Bohemian Garden Seaside Wedding

It’s weddings like this that make me LOVE logging onto Style Me Pretty every. single. day. Totally unfussy, graced with a backdrop you can’t beat and effortlessly pretty in so many ways. Initially inspired by the Bride’s vision of pops of watercolor with gold mixed in and her ‘gold-dipped’ style dress, the images from Love by Serena radiate happiness in the form of color, warm ocean breezes and of course, the sweet chemistry between these two.

Bohemian

From the Bride & Groom, Jamie & Steve… The Proposal: We got engaged in Saint Maarten March of 2014! It was a vacation we were looking forward to after a snowy winter. We took a drive to the French side and watched the sunset from a local bar. The seats sat on a small pier, so you could feel the waves crashing under you. I walked up to the counter and when I turned around to come back, Steve was kneeling by the shore on one knee. He was so nervous he broke the ring box! It was very sweet and perfect for me because my heart has always been at the ocean. Everyone cheered and toasted, it was a perfect night!

About our wedding: We felt really lucky to be getting married so close to my home town! The Celebration Cottage used to be a pier, where my family went almost every weekend growing up. We wanted a space that felt cozy, open, warm and inviting. We also wanted all of our family/bridal party to be together. We rented a beach house next door to the venue and stayed the week before. Our bridal party also stayed there, so we could have some time to be together before the wedding. It was really important to us to have everyone close, not at separate hotels!

For the wedding, we wanted to keep it simple-the ocean as your background is pretty incredible. In my head I was dreaming of pops of watercolor with gold mixed in. I was an art major and have always been drawn to bright mix and match colors and whimsical details. My dress is from a local designer in Canada and it was the initial inspiration (GOLD)! I told Valerie all of this and didn’t ask for any specific flower. Her outcome was beautiful and captured what was in my mind perfectly!

From Valerie (Bridesmaid, Wife of Jamie’s brother, and Lead Florist at Blossom Bay Botanicals)… Jamie and Steve’s wedding took place in Atlantic beach NC at a brand new space called The Celebration Cottage. The Celebration Cottage is a huge, beautiful beach house built just to serve as a wedding and event venue.

Jamie and Steve were engaged March of 2014, in Saint Marteen and were the first couple to book the Cottage as it was still, as the bride puts is “a pile of wood!” Luckily this couple is the laid back creative type, so the enormity of the construction project did not intimate them. They had no doubt that the space would be finished and better than they could have ever imagined!
Jamie and Steve chose a palette with shades of nude and muted pastels, with splashes of gold. These colors are so reflective of this couple’s personality – very down to earth, but filled with spark and surprise!

They met the first day Jamie moved to Baltimore from North Carolina. On this life-altering first day in the big City, Jamie got a flat tire in the McHenry Tunnel! I think it is safe to say that this is any young woman’s nightmare, much less on such a pivotal moving day. She thought maybe that was a sign to turn around go back home, but it’s a good thing she didn’t! Five hours later, in the midst of a torrential downpour, and after being subjected to the anxiety of holding up inner city traffic for hours, Jamie’s best friend Perry managed to get her out of the traumatizing tunnel experience. Perry did what any best friend would do next – take Jamie out for drinks! It was there that Steve sat next to the beautiful wet rat that would soon be his future wife. It’s funny how one ordinary day can unfold into a complicated challenge that may change the rest of your life.

Peek Inside the New Luxe Living Room of E! News’ Catt Sadler

We adore Catt Sadler and anything she touches. Her new luxe living room designed with the help of Laurel & Wolf is certainly no exception. Imagine classic style with the most gorgeous modern glam touches and you’re on the right track. Moments that include lucite and blush colored loungers are certainly a room that we can get behind. Take the full tour right here plus read up on Catt’s inspiration and favorite details below!

How would you describe your personal style and how do you think this space reflects that?

I think my personal style is warm and inviting, but also erring on the minimal side. I despise clutter or too much of anything – makes me feel heavy. I don’t over accessorize when I get dressed and I certainly don’t want too many knick knacks in my home. Less is more.

What kind of vibe and style did you want to create in this room? What did you want this room to function as?

I already have a comfortable family room where the kids and I watch TV. It is very livable. It’s where we spend most of our time as a family. It’s more durable (I have two boys!) and the hues are greys and blues. For this new space, I really wanted a more elevated, glamorous, more sophisticated room that felt more adult.

What are your favorite things about the space now?

Firstly, Laurel & Wolf was fantastic in making good use of the space in this room. They helped me figure out a more efficient plan for the furniture and created a very inviting space for entertaining. I’m obsessed with the chairs from Lawson and Fenning. I had been eyeing them for some time so I’m ecstatic we found a way to incorporate them. Kimberly suggested reupholstering my chaise lounge in blush velvet. It’s divine. I can’t seem to keep my dog Scarlett off of it, but she’s always had impeccable taste, so it makes sense.

How do you spend time in this room?

Since the room has been finished we’ve been migrating there when company comes over. We’ve sipped a few glasses of champagne. So far, it’s been a room to converse in, mostly. It doesn’t elicit being on your phone. It elicits a true feeling of “visiting” with other humans. Score!

How do your sons feel about the room?

Surprisingly, they’re very impressed. My oldest son Austin said that now I need to upgrade every room in the house. Ha!

What were a few design elements you absolutely had to have?

Firstly, I wanted a more intimate arrangement of furniture that was conducive to visiting with guests when I entertain. The room had felt “undone” for a long time with not enough seating. I also wanted to mute the color scheme quite a bit and get away from the masculine feel. I was also craving wallpaper with an art deco vibe. I travel a lot and pay close attention to hotel design for inspiration. Claridge’s London inspired this room in some ways.

What was the space like before? How does it make you feel now?

The space before was simple and sleek which I like, but just too casual. It felt like just another living space that wasn’t differentiated in any way. It was the room we never used. Now it is luxurious, inviting and warm but with a sexiness about it. The lucite and brass bar cart, blush-colored chaise lounge, and female-centric art are my favorite touches!

Co-Founder of Birchbox Says I Do in Seriously Gorgeous Style

I love the overall vision this Bride & Groom had for their Big Day: to throw a big dinner party for close friends and family. Because sometimes the jumping off point of inspiration isn’t about the details, it’s about the vibe. And then the details just fall into place so, so beautifully. Not to mention, this glowing Bride is the Co-founder of Birchbox, so of course, she looked effortlessly gorgeous. Ready for more? See all of Mark for Trent Bailey Studio‘s captures in The Vault.

From the Bride… Our overall vision was to throw a big dinner party for close friends and family. We planned a wedding weekend, with the Arnold House as our home base. It’s a 10-room Catskills hotel that has been renovated to look very Ace-y and owned by a super cool couple who lives part time in Manhattan. Our family stayed there and we also had a Friday night welcome party in their barn and a casual Sunday brunch there (we couriered Peter Pan doughnuts and Bien Cuit croissants from the city!). The actual wedding was at East Hill, about 6 mi away. The same couple who owns the Arnold House has a 60-acre property that includes a modern pool area (where we had our cocktail hour) and a container house (where we stayed). We wanted it to be a low-key weekend of activities in a gorgeous upstate area: hiking, distillery tours, yoga at the Arnold House.

My hair was by Jeff Chastain, and makeup by Nam Vo. It was amazing to have friends—people I’ve known and worked with for over five years—do my hair and makeup. I trusted them to make me look like myself, only better. We didn’t have a bridal party, just Rob’s best friend Julian and my sister Annie, but we had our friends and family participate in other ways. Our officiant was our dear friend Nate Rogers. We put the ceremony together ourselves, and asked friends and family to do readings from Madeline L’Engle, George Saunders, and a Brooklyn poet named Robert Hershon. Our ceremony was in a wide-open field, then we walked up to the pool area for cocktails, then reception under a tent.

Poppies & Posies did a spectacular job with our florals. I wanted seasonal, not too girly—an undone organic look but not hippie. They nailed it and were a dream to work with. Rob designed all our printed materials (though my best friend and Birchbox cofounder Hayley did the menus!), and we had them printed by our longtime Birchbox printer Tazo at 4over4. Then we roped in another friend, Allidah, to write our escort cards, which hung on the fence at cocktail hour. It takes a village.

Food was a huge priority for us! We worked with Oliver Kita, an incredibly skilled caterer to create a big, happy dinner party. We designed a menu that felt like something we would do at home (obviously not at this scale or all at once). For cocktail hour, we the Italian aperitivo hour tradition so we had an entire bar of negronis and spritzes and a giant wooden table piled with charcuterie and mostly local cheese. There were other delicious snacks like radishes with local butter, and deviled eggs because Rob loves them. Dinner was family-style and, again, foods that we would make ourselves: steak with chimichurri sauce, roasted vegetables, great crusty bread. My parents sourced 20 vintage soda bottles that we filled with olive oil for the table and my dad personally hemmed and folded all the napkins. Oliver made us a naked wedding cake that I swear tasted just like birthday cake, plus homemade mallomars as a party favor. We were also lucky to have the Doug Winters Band keeping everyone on the dance floor. Rob had seen this band at a wedding in 2009, where he danced so much he sprained his ligament. Our first dance was to Jackie Wilson’s “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher.”

My dress was by Roland Mouret. I wanted something modern and simple but with pretty details. My shoes were by Jimmy Choo. Rob wore a made to measure suit by Monsieur Brunold and shoes by Church’s.
