An Unexpected Color Palette Makes for the Most Stunning Summer Affair

One of my favorite details entwined in most fall weddings is the gorgeous, rich color palettes so often used. But who says you have to wait until the leaves change to embrace the jewel tones of autumn? This summer celebration is infused with the prettiest layers of burgundy and it makes for a wildly good looking day. With florals + planning by Kaitlin Parisho Designs and so many gorgeous images by Emily Jane Photography, get lost in a gem that blends the look and feel of two seasons into one undeniably stunning day.

From the Photographer… Chris and Elise’s Wedding took place on a calm summer day. Elise wanted to shy away from the usual blush wedding and opt for a deeper hue as we were approaching fall. The contrast between the burgundy and grey was stunning on their sunny day, the two were nothing but smiles all day for each other. Kaitlin outdid herself with so man amazing florals throughout the day, even making a little crown for the cutest flower girl!

DIY Faux Calligraphy Wedding Thank You Envelopes

So you’ve done it. They asked and you said yes (smiling wildly and trying not to ugly-cry). The wedding day comes and goes beautifully, and you thank your guests with party favors. You can call it a day at that. However, surprising them with snail mail sharing what they mean to you can be the perfect happily ever after. And good news for you – it’s easy to address the envelopes using… faux calligraphy!

Calligraphy with a pen and nib is stunning but time-consuming to do en masse. Faux calligraphy can be picked up with a few easy steps, is simpler to do, and can be done with materials you have lying around your house! Put on your favorite movie, brew your favorite drink and get started!

Materials

  • Pencil
  • Micron Pen/Fine Point Sharpie
  • Graph Paper
  • Envelope & Card

Instructions

Sketch out the style and layout you want for the envelope. This piece works great as a reference point when you’re working on your, say, hundredth thank you note!

Tip: When writing the name, leave a wider space in between each letter than you normally would. This allows you to add in the thicker strokes later and prevents it from looking cramped.

Thicken your strokes to mimic that calligraphy gorgeousness! The strokes where your hand physically moves upwards should be more delicate than the heavier strokes where your hand moves down the page to write a letter.

Tip: The thickness of the stroke is up to you, but make the thickness consistent across the board, with the ends connecting smoothly into one another for a professional look!

Add in the extra strokes with your pencil and fill it in when you’re satisfied!

Commit to it with pen! Trace what you created on the graph paper so that no matter what you do, you won’t ruin your reference piece. Fill out the rest of the address to see how to format the lettering.

Make it rain – with gorgeous envelopes, of course! Keep the previous tips in mind and address the envelopes with love and care.

And that’s it! Take a few minutes each day and write as many thank-you cards as you can during that time. Personalize the envelopes and notes to thank friends and family not only for their presents, but more for their presence in your life. This sounds daunting, especially if you had many guests, but just take it one day at a time, a few at a time, and send out happy mail beautifully done with your faux calligraphy! They’ll treasure it and the time you took to remember them and your relationship.

From Mango Studios… When I first met Kyle and Brandon, I knew they would throw a chic, downtown wedding in Toronto. Both are very stylish and have great taste in fashion, music and art. I really enjoyed spending the entire day with them talking about their favourite food, places they love to visit in Toronto and travel. As a wedding photographer, it’s important to me to get to know my couple’s and try to capture their personalities in photos. Wedding photographs are the only long-lasting, tangible memories of the day, so I make it my number one priority to capture the essence, true feelings and real, beautiful personalities of the people I work with. It’s also important to me that I capture the wedding day as it unfolds, directing the moments rather than fabricating them. That is why I loved how Kyle and Brandon chose to do their first look. They stood on both sides of the hotel room wall, Kyle nervously fixing his suit and Brandon waiting for my signal to enter the room. Once settled, Brandon pushed the door and stepped into the bedroom where Kyle was standing, crying happily to see his fiancé. It was a very special, beautiful moment. We stayed on either side of the wall, keeping our distance not to disturb the moment’s intimacy. Keeping that distance, yet having a great vantage point enabled us to capture the entire scene in its complexity and beauty.

The glamorous restaurant, The Chase, was a perfect backdrop for their celebration. The ever talented Cynthia Martyn worked her magic complementing the venue’s rustic elements and transforming the location into an elegant, tasteful space that was as charming and classy as the couple. The best part of the day? Kyle and Brandon’s good friend singing a song for them during reception. It was a very emotional, happy day and I’m so grateful to be a part of such a beautiful celebration. Kyle and Brandon, thank you so much for making me feel like a part of your family and I wish you long years of happy marriage!

A Long Sleeved Lace Gown That’s Giving Us All the Feels

It’s official: I’ve found my dream dress. If I was to redo my own special day, I think I might go this romantic gown route – it’s pure perfection (that lace!). But even better, the whole intimate affair captured by Hello Love Photography. With Nantucket as the backdrop, it’s an absolute feast for the eyes – and lucky for you, we’ve gathered all the pretty pics together in our Vaultenjoy!

From Hello Love PhotographyShelly and Colin got married in (arguably) one of the most picturesque and quintessential New England locations I can think of – the Wauwinet resort on the north easternmost tip of Nantucket. Their family and friends filled every room of the resort and made their wedding an intimate, personal, and beautiful one. Beautiful long tables lit by candles, lots of greenery, and one of my favorite dresses to date (the lace sleeves!) made this one for the books. And they certainly didn’t let a little rain stop them. :)

This Wedding Perfectly Embodies Timeless Romance

Claire and Christopher got married in the bustling city of Hong Kong, so their wish for an ultra romantic, rustic chic wedding was quite a tall order. Luckily they found just the right venue and thoughtfully designed every detail – from fashion to flowers and beyond – to reflect that vision. Of course, their amazing vendor crew rose to the occasion and Hilary Chan + AP Studio captured every moment.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/198786016 600 338]

From the bride, Claire… I love rustic country style which is difficult to find in a modern city like Hong Kong. So Hong Kong Country club is the best location for us with that stunning panoramic view of the South Ocean!

I felt the wedding is more of a romantic affair, so I chose a lace mermaid wedding dress from Monique L’huillier. The beautiful floral details and florets on the dress itself made a perfect match to the floral aisle entrance at Hong Kong Country Club. For the reception dress, I wanted something reflective of my own energetic personality so I chose a dress that was a light fabric and allowed me to run around and socialize with our guests.

I wanted my bridesmaids to have a very chic & feminine look on the day. Personally, I like soft colors like blush and nude, but to create that chic look I asked my tailor to customize the structures on the bridesmaid dresses and include structural fabrics as opposed to traditional bridesmaid dresses.

For the outdoor ceremony, I asked my florist to create sleek floral crowns alongside beautiful bridesmaids bouquets of blush and ivory to add that little floral detail when they all walked down the aisle with me. It was such a soft & romantic moment!

Happily Ever After for a Couple Who Met When They Were One

This story starts long ago when the paths of two 1 year olds crossed in a fated Gymboree class. Fast forward to today and those toddlers are now husband and wife. If that isn’t the cutest story ever, then I don’t know what is. See how these two said I Do in a chic New York City wedding held at the gorgeous Bowery Hotel with planning by Loli Events, florals by Peartree and all captured by one of our faves, Trent Bailey. See the full affair right here.

Born in the same hospital three weeks apart, Mira and Matt met for the first time at the age of one year old in a Gymboree class. They attended elementary and middle school together in lower Manhattan, but lost touch in high school. They were reunited when they both attended college at Stanford University, and quickly became close friends. Matt and Mira did not actually begin to date until nine years later, however, when they shared their first kiss outside their elementary school.

Having both grown up in downtown Manhattan, we loved the idea of finding a venue in the same neighborhood. The event space at the Bowery hotel was perfect for a December wedding, with lots of wood, exposed brick, and a working fireplace.

Mira’s dress was not technically a “wedding” dress, but rather a while evening gown by Stella McCartney. The dress was stark white silk crepe, with long sleeves, structured shoulders, an open back, and a train. Mira’s every day style is crisp and not overly-feminine, and she knew her wedding dress would not involve tulle, lace, or much volume. She hoped to find a structured white gown and fell in love with the Stella McCartney gown when she caught sight of it online. It was the first dress she tried on and she bought it the same day.

Our décor was inspired by winter and the holidays. The Bowery Hotel is already a warm and inviting space with lots of reds and dark woods, so we chose to emphasize whites and greens with touches of grey and silver. Olive branches, cool white flowers, mercury class, mirrored signs, and lots of candlelight helped to pull our vision together.

This Bride Recreated Her Grandmother’s Wedding from 1942

For as long as I can remember, I had dreamt of getting married on the front lawn of my grandmother’s lake house like she did in 1942,” the bride, Stephanie said. With the perfect autumn day styled in a sea of jewel tones, Stephanie married her love Tyler in the exact spot her grandmother wed decades earlier and the result was a celebration rich in meaningful moments. Kristina Lorraine photographed and you can watch the entire event unfold below.

[iframe http://www.youtube.com/embed/XoaQFt7uhyU 600 338]

From the Bride… For as long as I can remember, I had dreamt of getting married on the front lawn of my grandmother’s lake house like she did in 1942. Everything she did was perfection, and we were very close- I was even her caregiver during the last two years of her life.

Little did I know that the void I felt in my heart from her passing would be filled a few short months later when I met the love of my life. Tyler was everything I had ever wanted in a husband and best friend. We fell for each other fast. In “when you know, you know” fashion, he proposed after 8 months in an apple orchard on a beautiful September day. We knew right away that we wanted a Fall wedding at the lake!

Burgundy is one of my favorite colors, and that’s where the planning began. I tried not to limit myself to any one style, but incorporate all of the things I loved. Gilded geometric shapes, ethereal tulle bridesmaid dresses, floral EVERYWHERE, long dining tables with brass candle sticks. What resulted could be called modern bohemian. The rich fall colors at our atypical-country club venue worked beautifully with the design elements.

I quickly put together a dream team of vendors from photographer, to florist, to the cake, who totally just “got me” and brought my vision to life! My husband was great about letting me take the reigns on decor decisions as I’m an interior design student, but when I needed a hand with a project or a quick opinion- he was immensely helpful. Not only was he on board with a ceremony on the front lawn, but he surprised me with a speech at dinner that included a letter he asked my grandfather to write before he passed away last spring. There was not one dry eye in the dining room. With that speech he let me know that he understood, respected, and would strive to someday have the strong family bond we shared.

Everything on wedding day was more perfect than I could have ever imagined, and I am the luckiest girl on the PLANET to be married to such a wonderful, thoughtful man.

How an Easter Table Setting Can Inspire Your Wedding

Whether you’re a spring bride or not, you can certainly take style cues from this inspiration shoot designed around the prettiest pastels of the Easter season. A sense of soft romance was woven throughout thanks to Katherine Healy Brown of Clover Events and from the lush florals to the dipped naked cake, we’re ready to pin every detail. Thanks to Kristin La Voie Photography for the images we’ll be staring at all week long.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/206589075 600 338]

Katherine Healy Brown of Clover Events… Here in the Midwest, we endure a pretty brutal winter season. The days are short, cold, and dark, and with the lack of sunshine, cabin fever often sets in. With February approaching, I was looking forward to being outdoors and working with some springy colors. A greenhouse on the grounds of a historic mansion seemed like the ideal location. Come wind, snow, or rain, I knew Kristin La Voie would be the perfect photographer to capture the light and romantic feel we were all craving.

I asked the ladies at VEIL Event Design and Gather Vintage Tablescapes to dream up the perfect pastel table palette suited for an Easter weekend in Paris. We incorporated pops of subtle peach, light blue, soft lavender, and touches of the muddy, natural colors early springtime offers into the floral, invitations, and place cards.

The gorgeous naked cakes from Sugar Fixe were perfectly accented with gold flecks, and our chairs and linens provided by Classic Party Rentals rounded out our Parisian-inspired table. Our bride and groom looked flawless with the ever-so-talented beauty team consisting of Alyssa Kristin Bridal, Bianca Sansosti Artistry, and GEM Jewelry. We hope you enjoy these incredible images from Kristin La Voie Photography and the video from Robert Cawthorne Wedding Films!

A Fresh + Fun Spin on “Something Borrowed”

“Something borrowed” can come in various forms on a bride’s big day and more often than not, it’s a pretty piece of jewelry, handed down from grandma or mom. And while we’re fans no matter what, when the item being “borrowed” is a bit unique, well, it warms our wedding loving hearts. And that’s exactly what happened here: this Bride “borrowed” sweet succulents from her mom’s garden for her beautiful bouquets and these pics of them by Dana Cubbage are pretty perfect. See them all – and much more – in our Vault right this way!

From Dana CubbageAnna Beth and Adam’s wedding day was one for the books! I love how they incorporated so many personal elements throughout the day, including Anna Beth’s “something borrowed” – succulents from her mom’s garden, which were used in the bouquets and reception decor – as well as their beloved Golden, Gabby, who wore a beautiful floral wreath from Branch Design Studio! After a sweet First Look downtown, we spent some time with the bridal party taking photos before heading over to their gorgeous venue overlooking the Cooper River.

The weather could not have been better for their big day and they were surrounded by so much love and support from their family and friends throughout. After they said “I do!”, Anna Beth and Adam joined their guests at cocktail hour, then shared their First Dance as husband and wife. After a seated dinner, everyone hopped onto the dance floor… and it was packed all night! At the end of the evening, Anna Beth and Adam exited through a tunnel of sparklers and hopped into his uncle’s BMW convertible. It was a fabulous end to an amazing night!

Transforming a Nursery into the Coolest Ever Toddler Bedroom

The Fashionable Hostess knows her way around a well designed interior. And time and again, the proof is in the pudding. From her stunning home tour, to her wildly chic office and now this toddler bedroom for son, Brooks, we’re officially Team Amanda. And if ever there was a time where I fell in love with a kid’s bed, it would be now. Can you eve deal with that goodness?!?

It all started because we knew our two and half year old Brooks had outgrown his crib (see a before here), which then led to the idea of transforming his room from a nursery to a toddler room.

While I loved the baby blue color on the walls I wanted to update to a grey color that would be a good fit in his room for several years. And while I love the look of a leaning bookshelf, Brooks really needed a bigger shelving unit to house his favorite books. Then our rocking chair is nearly four years old {and has endured two babies} and it shows! Lastly, I never really decorated the walls the way I had intended… so long story short I needed an update but didn’t really have the time to put in the work.

So I decided to work with the RH Baby & Child Design Team {they have an amazing design service!} which started with a brief talk over the phone, explaining my vision – big boy bed, everything I mentioned above, and a clean palette. The designer asked everything from what furniture we currently have to what we would prefer to have, to what “interests” my son Brooks, to what he likes to do in the room.

They then came to my house for an in-home design consultation. They showed up with tools to measure the space, catalogues, and swatches. I showed them pictures of the kids and showed them around the rest of my home so they understood our vibe. Immediately I knew I was in good hands.

The next step was meeting with them to see what they had put together (which came out better than I could have imagined!!). Lastly was a relaxing installation day! And now we are in love!!

Inspired by the Beauty of Bright Spring Florals

Garden roses and ranunculus in candy colored hues are inspiring this modern take on a spring wedding and it is 100% speaking to the flower lover in all of us.  A Charming Fete and Molly Taylor & Co are at the center of this wildly gorgeous spread and with Lauren Gabrielle behind the camera, you best believe this vault of images is a knock out. And then there’s the film by Storybox Cinema… a must play for gorgeous spring wedding inspiration.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/205968161 600 338]

We were so inspired and refreshed by the bloom of brightly colored spring florals, specifically the lush ranunculus in beautiful candy shades of coral, peach and pink. We wanted to create an intimate dinner scene below a floral and natural muslin draped canopy. We paired a soft velvet seafoam table covering with natural linen covered chairs so the colors in the florals would really pop. We draped a natural muslin fabric over the wood pergola for a softer look with smilax vines and bright blooms dripping from the sides. Bailey of Molly Taylor and Co brought the space to life with her magic touch. Stationery items were accented in pale blue seafoam colors to coordinate. We worked with a local company to create a custom welcome gift basket pulling in the candy color tones. Plush velvet lounge funiture in blush hues and soft mint were the perfect accent. The pale blue cake with swiss dot and textured ruffle tiers was a beautiful confection adorned with intricate sugar flowers. Our bride model played dress up in two gorgeous and ultra feminine gowns, the first a carefully beaded Enzoani with sheer bodice and applique with a lavish, full, tulle skirt and the second a more fun, fitted mermaid style from Blush by Hayley Paige. Our groom model (and Zach Galifianakis look alike) wore a custom navy suit with chic candy colored accessories, a blush bow tie and patterned silk pocket square.

See Omarosa’s Over-the-Top Washington D.C. Wedding

It’s been a busy 80 days in Washington D.C. for the Trump White House and all those who work in it, but not so busy that former “Apprentice” star-turned-White-House-staffer Omarosa Manigault couldn’t take a weekend off to say “I do.” In case you missed “Say Yes to the Dress” this weekend, the bride wore a stunning YSA Makino cap sleeve blush ball gown from Kleinfeld and carried a bouquet of white roses to meet her groom, John Allen Newman.

Celebrating Love + Family Where Childhood Memories Were Made

Backyard weddings will forever be held to the standards of Father of the Bride. You just can’t beat swans and tents, Steve Martin and the magic of a family style affair. That is until this sweet day came along. It’s gorgeous, romantic, elegant and all held in the Bride’s childhood home; a spot where many a night was spent playing basketball and chatting under the stars. Now if that isn’t the living version of our favorite wedding movie, then we don’t know what is. Get cozy with this beautiful day coordinated by Cera Singley and all photographed by Jessica Kay right here.

Both with a strong sense of family, these two high school sweethearts wanted their wedding day to be filled with love and family. They exchanged wedding vows in their family church surrounded by their most loved ones. After, the celebration continued in the backyard garden of the bride’s childhood home where they couple shared so many wonderful memories. They danced the night on the patio away under strings of cafe lights where they had gotten to know each other playing basketball, talking and growing.

The Perfect Mixture of Cultures + Stunning Style

Mixing anything – cultures, styles, colors – can be a tricky science but when it works, it’s pretty fabulous. And there’s no better proof than these perfect pics by Stephanie Brazzle. This stunning multi-cultural wedding in Dallas, complete with a beautiful Bride, handsome Groom and florals by Bows and Arrows are all making our hearts beat a bit faster this morning. But enough with the babbling… hop on over to our Vault and see it all for yourself!

[styleguide}

From the Bride… William and I are total opposites. We’re from different cultural, religious and political backgrounds. When we first started dating, we didn’t have much in common and there were lots of boundaries. It wouldn’t be until much later we’d realize that love has no boundaries and our love for one another would trump all of our differences. We wanted our wedding to be a juxtaposition of two different backgrounds fusing together to create something beautiful.

For the ceremony, instead of traditional vows, William and I wrote seven promises to each other representing the seven traditional vows Indian grooms and brides make to each other. Our officiant, my cousin, also wrote four earnest wishes for our future, modeled after the four circles couples make around a sacred fire. Though I walked down the aisle in a Gatsby style Justin Alexander white dress with a gorgeous detailed back, I danced the night away in a royal blue lehnga accented with a hot pink chunni, or scarf, and beautiful traditional Indian jewelry. My wrists were adorned with dozens of magenta, royal blue and gold choodies, or bangles. The palms of my hands were embellished with intricate henna and my late father’s name was written across my wrist in Hindi.

Our reception was beautiful. Our colors were blushes, mauves and gold. Indian weddings always have beautiful gold accents as well as a plethora of gold jewelry traditionally given to the bride on her wedding day. The tables were adorned with stunning garden-style centerpieces in terracotta vases from Bows and Arrows. My stunning bouquet of dahlia, hellebores, champagne roses, scabiosa, blushing bride, and memory lane roses were wrapped in Frou Frou Chic ribbon which was later displayed on our gold sequenced sweetheart table.

I did not think it was possible for two people from completely different upbringings, traditions and beliefs to forge a life together that somehow makes sense. To be able to get married exactly how we wanted was a dream come true.

Peggy Russell from Destination Wedding Studio was at the helm of styling this event, and created an outdoor dinner experience under the palms that provided the perfect ambiance for the low-key, laid back Florida Keys affair.

See How a Ballroom Was Transformed into a Garden Oasis
If you think a country club ballroom can’t compete with an outdoor garden setting, just wait until you meet this wedding photographed by Melani Lust. The vendors managed to bring an enchanted garden vibe indoors with greenery, florals, and one of the prettiest seating chart displays we’ve ever seen. More to see right this way!

From the bride… Drew and I met while students at the University of Richmond – we had the same groups of friends and went to the same parties, despite the two year age difference. It wasn’t until after I graduated that we ran into one another at Homecoming and we spent the whole weekend getting to know one another again. Drew was living in Washington DC and I had just moved to New York City. We made it 5 months of long distance dating until Drew made the move up to New York. The rest is history!

After we got engaged (5am sunrise on the beach!), we tried to enjoy “just being engaged” for a couple weeks but quickly jumped into wedding planning. We both wanted to get married in the summer because of the warm weather in New England, everything is very green and lush, and it was most convenient timing with our jobs. We partnered with Lea Ann Miller to help us plan everything and anything – she is a dream come true for any bride and helped with every decision!

Due to the heat in July, we had decided to hold our reception indoors at Greenwich Country Club – air conditioning! And thank goodness we did that because it was a heatwave that weekend! However, I had seen many photos of romantic enchanted gardens and that’s how I wanted to recreate our reception room. We wanted to embrace the natural greens, whites, and touches of soft grays and purples. Katherine from KDJ Botanica immediately shared our vision for how we could transform a traditional “ballroom” into a midsummer’s garden. I trusted her completely with ideas to incorporate large branches and trees throughout the room and on the tables, with tea lights hanging from the branches. We brought in drapery for the walls and ceilings to make it feel as if we were outside under the stars. I wanted everything to feel very natural and simple yet magical. I cried when I walked into the room after our cocktail hour.

Drew and I each spent the morning of our wedding with our closest friends and siblings until we saw one another for our “first look”. I am so glad we decided to see each other before the ceremony – not only did it subdue some of our nerves, but it was the only moment where it was only the two of us all day long (except for our short getaway ride in my dad’s Triumph from the 70s!) It was so special sharing that moment with him and even though our friends and family were just around the corner, we felt like we were the only two people for miles! That was definitely one of the most exciting and enjoyable moments of the day.

The reception was amazing – Pete Saunders and his band had everyone dancing all night long. The speech from my father made everyone shed some tears while the maids of honor and best men had everyone crying from laughing so hard. I know that many brides and grooms feel a burden to have to say hello to each and every single guest however Drew and I loved stopping by every guest for hugs and well wishes – it made our 275 wedding feel like an intimate dinner party because we truly loved every single person who was there for us.

Kylee and James sophisticated wedding day was a glamourous French Country inspired celebration hosted in the hinterland of the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Kylee had a focus on flowers and styling for her beautiful day. A warm rich and opulent colour palette was chosen to accent their style, and their floral concept was an integral part of the vision for their celebrations.

Kylee dreamt of peonies for her gorgeous day, and with her date being just 1 week shy of the start of the Australian peony season, timing led us to import burgundy peonies from overseas to accent the marsala tones in the floral concept. The opulent fluffy peony blooms were the star of the styling show! The darker marsala tones were accented with vintage cream, blush pink and pale pink blooms, and the floral concept consisted of peonies, David Austin roses, ranunculus, snapdragons, cluster roses, hydrangea, in combination with lush and cascading green foliages. Slightly unstructured bouquet designs were created with darker tones featuring in a heavier capacity through the bridal bouquet and the paler colour palette more prominent in the bridesmaids designs to accessorise their burgundy dresses.

From the stunning ceremony space to the sophisticated reception styling the floral concept for this beautiful day was a glamorous reflection of the couple’s love for the finer things in life! The oversized Grecian urns greeted the bride, the fabric canopy was also adorned with florals and gardenesque greenery accents. On the library deck the overhead chandeliers were dressed with glamorous blooms and created the most incredible floral chandeliers delicately hanging from above the tablescapes of crystal vase designs featuring all of those beautiful blooms! The bridal table featured a lush garland design with pretty blooms.

From the bride… Mark proposed on a beautiful spring day inside Gramercy Park, the only private park in Manhattan that actually requires a key to get in! We live down the street but had never been inside until Mark creatively secured a key for the big question.

We knew we wanted our wedding to be an intimate affair for our closest friends and family, ideally close to home. The Gramercy Park Hotel was undeniably the perfect choice. The historic hotel is classic New York while also being stylish and unique. Mark and I can see the magical glowing lights inside the GPH’s rooftop terrace from our apartment window, and we had always imagined what it would be like to have our wedding there. Getting married in our neighborhood allowed us to share the part of New York that we love so much with our friends and family.

The venue was an urban garden rooftop with views of the NYC skyline. I was inspired by the rich colors and fabrics of the hotel’s decor. We picked a date in late November and I immediately had a vision of dark burgundy, lavender and ivory flowers to complement the lush greenery of the terrace. Our floral designer, Denise Fasanello, made this come to life with organic arrangements of peonies, garden roses, and anemones. To make the setting even more romantic, she added long tapered candles to enhance the lanterns, votives and fairy lights that were already strewn throughout the venue.

I found my dress during my first and only shopping trip at a trunk show at Gabriella New York! The warm ivory color was perfect for fall and the hand-sewn 3D floral detailing was on trend and suited to the aesthetic of the ivy-wrapped terrace. My search for shoes took much longer but once I discovered this pair of velvet burgundy Gianvito Rossi heels, I knew they were mine.

We added personal touches that were meaningful to us, including our family’s adorable Boston terrier in our wedding photos, wrapping my bridal bouquet with my great-grandmother’s antique handkerchief, and topping our wedding cake with a retro cake topper from my parents’ wedding.

It was important to us that our wedding to be relaxed and fun, yet refined and tasteful. We achieved this by selecting vendors who not only reflected our style but were also warm and easy to be around. Capturing the memories was extremely important and we knew we could trust our photographer, Heather Waraksa, to provide us with beautiful, editorial style images that we will cherish for years to come. Having great chemistry with the team we hired to carry out our vision was invaluable. We couldn’t have been happier working with Kay Chittiappa, the coordinator at the GPH, who helped flawlessly execute our dream wedding.

We were so lucky that the weather was sixty degrees and sunny – a perfect fall day in the city. The autumn colors of the leaves in the park added to the vibrancy of the day. Our guests arrived to music by a live jazz trio, and the catering by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group was incredible. Our favorite moments included taking photos throughout our neighborhood, sharing our handwritten vows during the candlelit ceremony, and dancing the night away to DJ MKL’s amazing playlist.
