Sophisticated Summer Wedding at the Aspen Mountain Deck

It has to be near sublime about getting married on a mountain top among the clouds. Romantic, right? And with the help of Bluebird Productions, this wedding was elevated in almost every sense of the word — florals from Harrington SmithLouboutins, and of course one stunning Anna Maier gown. Just take a peek at the moments captured by Elysium Productions and Robin Proctor Photography.

From the bride… Brandon and I met about 10 years ago on a tiny island in the Bahamas called Cat Cay. Our families often vacationed there but we’d didn’t cross paths until August 2003 when Brandon approached me in Bu’s Bar, the only bar on the island at the time. We decided to keep in touch and exchanged AIM screen names-yep this was even before Facebook days. We were both born and raised in Miami so over the years we ran into each other a few times but the timing never seemed right to start dating until August 25, 2008 when we finally had our first official date (once I was officially of age and single). Fast forward to November 26, 2011, Brandon asked me to marry him. Early on in our relationship we had taken several trips out to his family’s house in Aspen and fell in love with the town. Even though it was going to be tricky getting our guests there, we knew Aspen was the best choice for an unforgettable wedding. We still wanted to keep our roots close to us, so we decided to engrave Cat Cay’s coordinates inside our wedding rings to always keep that special place close to us. Planning a destination wedding while in law school was very tricky to say the least, but it felt so amazing to see how our family and friends reacted to Aspen once they arrived for the wedding weekend. Some of guests had only been to Aspen in the winter while most had never been there at all, so the beautiful setting blew them away. Brandon and I wanted an elegant yet warm and romantic wedding where our friends could enjoy sipping champagne by the fireplace. With that in mind, our colors naturally gravitated to soft golden and ivory colors with hints of deep red. The morning of my wedding I remember jumping out of bed and rushing towards the window to inspect the sky just above the mountain range for clouds. Many Aspen locals had told me about the regular Colorado afternoon showers during the summer and that was pretty much the only thing I was nervous about since the ceremony was outdoors at the top of Aspen Mountain. The local weather forecast, which I tried to avoid checking at all costs, also predicted rain on our wedding day. Our wedding began at 5 p.m. and for the first time in a week, the sun shone brightly all day. You can imagine how grateful we were! Once we arrived to the ceremony site, I was excited to have our violin quartet play several versions of modern songs like “Marry You” by Bruno Mars and the Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” for our guests. Brandon even convinced me to have “The Final Countdown” violin piece play as he walked down the aisle — marriage is all about compromise right? Since Brandon is Jewish and I’m Catholic, the religious ceremony celebrated both of our religions and it was wonderful to see Rabbi Vardy blend our cultures in such a lovely way. After the ceremony, we descended back to downtown Aspen on the Silver Queen Gondola. This was one of our favorite moments because it gave us about 10 minutes of privacy after our ceremony to savor the beautiful afternoon light cast over the mountains just moments after becoming husband and wife. You could hardly ask for a more serene and romantic moment on such a whirlwind day.Once we arrived at the bottom, we nestled into a horse drawn carriage that whisked us away to the Hotel Jerome reception where our family and friends were waiting for us. One of my favorite moments was walking into the entrance of our cocktail hour and reception where you could see all the details come to life from the branch archway twinkling with lights to our wedding cake covered in ombre pink, red and purple calla lilies. We had decided to give our guests pine-scented candles as favors to remember Aspen and we lit some extra ones around the table. Soon the cocktail room was filled with the scent of pine trees as we watched the sommelier pour champagne down a tower of coupe glasses assembled below a dear antler chandelier. After the cocktails, I reluctantly shed my long lace veil that had my new initial “K” woven at the bottom. I loved it so much I hope to hang it over our baby’s crib one day. Once the doors were opened to the ballroom, it was wonderful to see the afternoon light pouring in from the large windows around the room with views of the mountains. We were also excited to see how guests reacted to the oxygen bar. Most Miamians have never really experienced one so it was fun watching everyone head over throughout the night to get their fix of purified oxygen in eucalyptus and mint aromas. The air around us was filled with a wonderful blend of music as our band and DJ artfully infused the playlist with everything form the Jewish Hava Nagila to the Cuban Guantanamera. I also loved seeing the mirrored table numbers hanging delicately under a mass of beautiful dahlia centerpieces. The flowers even followed us all the way to our suite when Brandon and I stumbled upon scattered petals, which my bridesmaids Cat, Eli and Dolo secretly arranged in our Hotel Jerome suite before the after party was over. Brandon and I met out in the ocean but we created our new life together on top of a mountain at 11,212 ft. It truly felt like the closest we could get to heaven and we are so incredibly thankful for everyone who helped make it happen!!

Romantic Maui Bridal Session At Haiku Mill

This shoot is unexpected in all the right ways. Skipping the beach and heading for the Haiku Mill,  we get eyefuls of ocean, old-world charm, and a different perspective on Hawaiian aesthetics. I’m also kind of infatuated with the Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier gowns Pacific Weddings Magazine chose to feature. You can see more Hawaiian eye candy from Rebecca Arthurs Photography here.

From Rebecca Arthurs PhotographyThe Haiku Mill is one of those places that when you leave, it feels like you woke up from a dream. We were blessed to shoot a bridal session there with styling by Pacific Weddings magazine. Tucked away in the hills of Maui, this beautiful old sugar mill is so peaceful and full of life. We wanted to capture the bride’s simple and natural beauty with nothing to distract from the setting. It was glorious to capture raw images without all the details and glitter that can sometimes overshadow the truth about beauty. The scenic images compliment our vision of raw beauty along Maui’s coast.

Classic Mansion Wedding

Pair a foodie bride and her handsome beau with a fab team of vendors that includes Coral Pheasant Stationery + DesignBLUSH Floral Design and Jubilee Events (to name a few) and the results are this: a beyond breathtaking day that boasts classic details, beautiful colors and soooo much pretty captured by Binaryflips Photography, it will make your head swoon.  Join me in the gallery for more.

From the Bride… When Lev and I first started planning our wedding, we fell in love with the Wadsworth Mansion (near my hometown in CT) before we even saw it in person. We liked that there were multiple rooms for guests to explore, as if it was our own private retreat (albeit a very fancy one!), and the way the mansion was set off from the road and surrounded by trees and gardens.

Once we had decided on a location, it helped set the tone for everything else: classic, elegant and romantic. To complement the interior of the mansion, we settled on a color palette of dove gray, blush and cream—plus a touch of gold—that felt airy and light, but still muted enough for October. I was also inspired by Laduree and their gorgeous pastel packaging.

Lev and I agreed we wouldn’t spend a lot of money on gifts for the morning of the wedding, but we wanted to do something small. We were doing long-distance for most of the year leading up to the wedding, and for about 6 months of that, Lev had been recording little clips of himself along the way—and turned it into the sweetest video. I ended up giving him a vintage compass, since he is my biggest supporter and, cheesy as it may sound, the one who always helps me find my way.

Despite some early rain and gloom, the weather that day—which also happens to be my grandmother’s birthday—ended up being beautiful. The whole place was washed in this gorgeous golden light. Our ceremony was led by Mary Coburn on the lawn behind the mansion, and months later, I still receive compliments on the incredible job she did. She has an amazing way of getting to know you, capturing the spirit of a relationship and bringing people together.

Bouquets and arrangements contained lush blooms like garden roses, ranunculus and dahlias. For texture and a slightly vintage feel, we added dusty miller, silver brunia berries and gold-dusted scabiosia pods (a really lovely touch from Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design). We decorated our placecard table with vintage cake stands and compote dishes collected over time, plus loose and floating flowers, votive candles and ribbons.

I have a killer sweet tooth, so good dessert was a must! Later in the night, we re-purposed the cake stands for a display of cream puffs, oatmeal-maple whoopie pies, pumpkin cheesecake squares, mini pecan pies and macarons in blush and cream. Our wedding cake featured a single, whimsical sugar bloom that was gold in the middle with pale pink petals fading into ivory.

Our invitations incorporated two design elements—a wreath and a bow—and two patterns—lattice and damask—that were used throughout our reception. The wreath was used for our table numbers and programs, and an actual wreath was hung on the front door of the Wadsworth. There were pink bows on my shoes and bows tied to our seats at the table. Finally, the lattice print from the invites appeared our dessert labels, while the damask print appeared on our menus.

My bridesmaids wore soft and subdued shades of pink, cream and gray by Amsale and Donna Morgan. Everyone wore their hair at least partially down, which was sort of a spur-of-the-moment decision—but I loved the way the casual hair styles contrasted with the guys’ formal tuxedos and bow ties.

My dress was a ball gown by Liancarlo. I tried on an embarrassing amount of dresses until I fell in love with its delicate, crystal-studded bodice and flowing, ethereal skirt. My earrings were a gift from my grandmother, who was given them by my grandfather on my mom’s wedding day. My something borrowed was my grandfather’s wedding ring, and my something blue was a ring my mom gave me some 15 years ago that I’ve been wearing ever since. Both of these were tied to my bouquet.

A few other personal touches we added to the wedding were a guestbook filled with handmade envelopes in different patterns and colors for guests to leave us notes, a display of family pictures, and signature cocktails (a pear drink I make every winter, and a Brazilian coffee drink that satisfies Lev’s coffee addiction and relates to one of his favorite trips). At the end of the night, guests helped themselves to a Connecticut classic—Foxon Park White Birch Beer—and freshly-popped popcorn in two different flavors: salted butter and caramel cashew.

My best advice to brides is to enjoy the planning process as much as possible. Spend some time sifting through ideas and thinking about how you envision the day before you dive in—and then take it on little by little. And, make it your own. Everything doesn’t have to match perfectly. In fact, it will feel more organic if it doesn’t! Then, once the day arrives, let go of all those little details and focus instead on savoring every moment.

Rustic Southern Wedding at the Horse Farm

I could get lost in the brilliance of this wedding for hours. It has everything — a century-old horse farm, the Southern autumn, and Alyssa Arlene Events — all working in its favor. Even down to the bride’s daisy trimmed hairpiece from Root Floral Design, every detail is totally swoon-worthy. And there’s even a whole gallery of Erin and Geoffrey Photography’s photos for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Rustic

From Erin And Geoffrey Photography… This gorgeous and rustic South Louisiana fall wedding was not only that, but historic. You see, the wedding took place at a historical landmark in Lafayette, LA widely known as the Horse Farm. The Horse Farm has been owned and operated by the local college since the early 1920’s, and we had the privilege of documenting the very first wedding held there in the 90+ years it’s been open, therefore making this amazing wedding a thing to remember. It rained on and off the day of their wedding in mid-October 2013, but the sun came out for the afternoon ceremony and throughout the evening reception, which pretty much makes up a typical Louisiana day, and also made everything look so warm and lush.

The bride and groom, Ashley and Mark-Allen, were amazing to work alongside with. When we think of easy-going and DIY couples, we automatically think of these two. Almost the entire wedding was DIY, from the 6 foot tall hand drawn chalkboard program her brother drew for the ceremony, down to each wooden log around the ceremony and reception that her father hand cut for her, even the ones the cake and desserts were set on.

When we arrived to start taking pictures of the bridal party getting ready at Mark-Allen’s parents home, Ashley spotted us and immediately ran to us, jumping and giggling. Ashley and her bridesmaids were stunning. Her dress was beyond beautiful and we fell in love with her flower crown, which was put together by her florist, Root Floral Design. Mark-Allen and his groomsmen looked dashing as well with their hand-picked wooden bow-ties to go along with their navy suits, a perfectly unique accessory.

She didn’t have a care in the world, and couldn’t wait to see Mark-Allen for their first look. She was so excited, in fact, that she kept saying, “I just want to see him, I just want to see him” and ran straight to him once he turned the corner where he picked her up and twirled her. After their first look, we took family pictures outside while the rain had stopped, and even got a few shots of them with their dog, Roux. The trolley then drove up and picked up the bridal party and headed over to the Horse Farm, where the ceremony awaited.

When we got to the Horse Farm, leading up to the ceremony location was hand-cut wooden signs, leading you to their wedding under the massive oak tree, where they would be exchanging vows. Ashley’s event planner Alyssa Arlene did an AMAZING job at putting everything together and making everything run so smoothly. As the ceremony started, Ashley’s father escorted her off the trolley and walked her down the isle while hearing her good friend sing and play on the guitar. They exchanged vows, shared their first kiss as husband and wife, and walked back down to the song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, sung and played by her friend.

After taking a few pictures of just the two of them and seeing the magnolia tree they planted in honor of their marriage, we headed over to the reception, just a few yards away where the party started. There were so many highlights to the reception: When you arrived at the party, you signed in with a thumbprint tree and signing a Jenga piece, and they had a treasure chest of trinkets for each guest to take home as wedding favors. The band Krossfyre played sweet, soulful tunes that everyone danced to, the delicious southern Cajun food catered by Bon Temps Grill, and the yummy cake and dessert cupcakes made by one of Ashley’s close friends.

A second rain storm quickly came rolling in about an hour before the grand exit, so Mark-Allen made quick arrangements to head over to The Office, a bar downtown just a few minutes down the road. So the bride and groom quickly jumped into the Rolls Royce Bentley they reserved for their exit and managed to make it there dry, where they along with their friends danced the night away, without a care in the world.

From Artworks Wedding CinemaJosee and Adam’s beautiful Vinewood Plantation wedding had all the amazing details that a rustic chic wedding has to offer. My personal favorite was the bright color of the bridesmaids dresses, which really shined amidst the neutral tones the plantation has to offer. Fortunately, the rain held off for the couple to have their ceremony outside beneath a rustic huppah flowing with soft sheers under a large Georgia oak tree. In lieu of a guestbook, guests were invited to sign their names on a quilt. In trying to keep the impending rain out of the picture, the couple enjoyed a short and sweet ceremony where the rabbi was both sentimental and inserted a bit of humor throughout! Guests then enjoyed a wonderful dinner inside the barn as well as the outdoor horseshoes and a fire pit. Dancing the night away culminated in the couple’s sparkler departure where guests were then asked to take home some yummy peach butter as a reminder of the day. We wish Josee and Adam a wonderfully happy life together!

Sun-filled Baby Shower

For whatever reason, poor Mondays get a bit of a bad rap. But we’re here to ensure that your Monday morning gets off on the right foot. And I can’t think of a better way to do so than with a bright and sunny baby shower! Designed and styled by Macarena Gea, if there’s any place to be at this very moment, it’s right here in the gallery.

From Macarena… I’m expecting my first child, Mateo, and I’m so excited to share the yellow baby shower I prepared for him and my closest friends some days ago. The party took place at home and, as event planner, i loved preparing each and every detail of this very special day.

As my little “sun” will come together with summer, I though the mythical Beatles’ song “Here comes the sun” could be the perfect party’s motto. And, because of that, yellow was the main colour chosen for the decoration and little moustaches were a kind of “it’s a boy” wink.

I prepared fresh lemonade, oats milk, lemon water and some sweet and salty delis as sandwiches, tartlets, snacks, carrot cupcakes and, of course, my favourite nude cake: white chocolate, lemon and natural red fruits.

Little Mateo was not the only receiving some presents this afternoon. I really wanted to surprise my friends and I prepared a very special “thanks for coming kit” composed by a framed print with the party logo, a four postcards set with the four designs available and a little jar with one of my favourite french confitures.

To finish, I set on a photobooth corner with some props, an instax camera and some postcards were my friends could pin their pics and write on special messages for out little Mateo.

Romantic Spring Wedding at Historic Hotel

I dare you to find a wedding more timelessly elegant than this Maryland “I do.” Set at the historic Antrim 1844, it’s got charm like you wouldn’t believe in a sea of neutral shades, and the gallery from the fabulous Kirsta A. Jones? It’s guaranteed to make your Monday soooo much sweeter.

From The Bride & Groom…We did our best to make sure all the details of our wedding reflected us as a couple as well as our family history.

It was important for us to find a venue that could host all of our wedding activities since it was the first time our families would be meeting. Our friends and families rented out the adorable houses and stayed on property the entire weekend. We held our rehearsal dinner at the Smokehouse Restaurant Friday night then hosted a Welcome Party for out of town guests after the dinner. It was so special to us to have everyone all together in such an intimate setting.

The dessert table was one of my favorite parts of the wedding! It was a way for us to incorporate several different heritages. Steve’s mom and god mother made all the Greek pastries and Amy’s mom made the mini pecan pies (in honor of her southern roots). Steve’s Aunt, who was born and raised on Smith Island, made the Smith Island cakes (chocolate, coconut and pineapple).

Smith Island is a small island (current population= 364 people) at at the southern-most part of the Eastern Shore and is only accessible by Ferry. Steve always loved going to his Aunt & Uncle’s for any party because they’d always have a Smith Island cake (at least one). The cakes are very laborious. Each layer is baked individually and stacked one on-top of another to create 7 layers stuck together with deliciously rich icing. 7 layers is the “official” sign that it was made on Smith Island….it’s recent popularity has spurred many to bake 8-10 layers but the pros learned over the years that anything over 7 tends to topple over.

Our save the dates, invitations, menu cards, etc had the same design on each of them. Steve incorporated that design and customized the corn hole set for the wedding. The lawn games (Jenga and Ladder Golf) as well as the wedding sign came from Sean Pumphrey.

DIY Vineyard Wedding at the The Old Field Vineyards

Monday mornings call for weddings just like this one. A wedding that will inspire you as much as it will make you smile – kicking the week off in the prettiest of fashions. Captured beautifully by Raquel Reis Photography, this entire gallery is worth some serious attention, so grab you cup of jo and join me here

From the Bride…I was drawn to the idea of a “DIY wedding,” but quickly came to learn that I had to be thoughtful about which projects to take on order to maintain my sanity. The key to everything coming together was staying organized and my wonderful coordinator/lifesaver, who set up dozens of boxes worth of decorations the morning of our wedding, along with our dad’s who carried wine barrels to the beach and bravely hung lanterns and signs from the trees on the property.

I used re-purposed frames, windows, and scrap wood to make all of the signs for the wedding, a task that turned out to be surprisingly relaxing during the chaotic days before the wedding. I have to give credit to my mother-in-law, who turned out to be the DIY queen of our wedding. She spray-painted wine bottles gold to serve as table numbers/vases, and also made the menus and place cards for the tables.

We turned to places like Etsy, BHLDN, Pottery Barn, and even IKEA for the rest of the décor. My parents’ basement was stuffed to the brim with bottles, jars, lanterns, luminaries, votives, napkins, straws etc.
One of my biggest projects turned out to be the cigar and scotch lounge on the beach, which was my wedding gift to Joe. Now Joe is the guy that has everything, so traditional gifts were out of the question. A celebratory cigar on the beach with his favorite people is more valuable to him than any physical gift. Also, he is an amazing gift giver and I almost never can pull off an equally perfect surprise gift for him, so I had to take advantage of this opportunity.

As I know nothing about cigars or scotch, I had to do a fair amount of research as to what I should get as well as all necessary accessories. I borrowed wine barrels from the vineyard to serve as a “bar” and added lounge furniture to the rentals. I also got adorable matches that read “Joe’s Cigar Lounge” for him and his friends to keep as favors. I still can’t believe that it all came together and stayed a secret until the wedding!

We chose August 24th for our wedding mostly because I have three weeks off at the end of every August (perfect amount of time to relax, get hitched, and honeymoon). Luckily, I also happen to think this is the best time of the year on the North Fork, when the weather is almost always perfect.

Well, if we were going to get married over the summer, it had to be on the North Fork. Not only does it come alive in the summer, but it’s also where Joe and I met and fell in love. Though we live in Brooklyn, we spend most summer weekends with our families out there – it’s worth sitting through 3 hours of traffic. We chose to have our wedding and reception and The Old Field Vineyards for two reasons. It was on the water and they make incredible wine – two features very representative of the North Fork. I also love the idea of having the whole event at this one location, where guests could enjoy the entire stunning property and flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception without a pause in the festivities!

Our ceremony came together last minute, but turned out wonderfully. Our guests were greeted with beverages and simple yet lovely musical accompaniment of a single acoustic guitar. We chose contemporary music for the ceremony, I was able to peek through a trellis to watch our friends and family walk to The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” and I walked down the very long aisle with my Dad to the Beatles “Here Comes the Sun.” We chose short but touching vows and managed to get through them without tears or stage fright. By far the most special thing about our ceremony was having friends and family participate. Each of our godmothers did readings (Joe’s sister and my aunt), and we were married by Joe’s high school English teacher. Joe’s younger sister gave the most thoughtful and touching of speeches – she truly had everyone reaching for tissues. At the end, everyone danced down the aisle and onto the bar to Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore!”

Aside from getting married (woohoo!), the most special thing about our wedding was being able to spend some truly amazing times with our favorite people! The week before the wedding was a nonstop celebration with all of our family and closest friends, a wonderful time that we will never forget!

I never would have shopped for a dress if it wasn’t for my mom, who lit the fire under my behind to start the process. We first went to a few boutique salons in New York, where I got a taste of what I liked and didn’t like. I realized that I was not the kind of bride who would have an “Ah-ha” moment when I found my dress. So when my mom begged me to go to Kleinfeld’s, I went in with the mindset “now you have seen everything, so you pick your favorite.” I chose my dress because, as my consultant pointed out, it was the one that I smiled the most in and always went back to. I am so grateful for her advice, because I felt unique, pretty, and most importantly like myself on my wedding day!

I borrowed my Kate Spade earrings and feather clutch from Rent the Runway – a truly no-fail service.I chose 3 styles of long chiffon dresses for my 7 gorgeous maids. I loved how elegant and flattering they were while still being beachy. The girls each accessorized with their own belts, shoes and jewelry to make the dress their own.

We chose black suits for the guys to contrast the pale dresses the girls wore and also because I think that Joe looks oh so dapper in black! Joe’s nieces and nephews served as our adorable flower girls and ring bearers, and wore similar outfits to the bride and groom with blush accessories.

I think that I somehow arrived at my “style” throughout the planning process. I knew that while I wanted guests to feel relaxed and comfortable at the wedding, I still wanted elegance. It was important to me that the wedding to have stylish and beautiful elements without being stuffy or cliche. I went by the principal that, as long as I was choosing everything, it would somehow become cohesive by representing my tastes. It was so fun getting to see it all put together on the day of the wedding! Everything from the bridal party to the tables looked even more gorgeous than I could have ever imagined. In the end, I think we were able to pull off a style that was worthy of a stunning summer night and vibrant party!

It was important for Joe and I to use as many local resources as we could, as the North Fork has so much to offer. We served wine from The Old Field, our amazing florist used seasonal and local flowers, we served locally grown produce and locally caught fish, and we brought in cookies and ice cream from nearby shops.

Intimate Australia Wedding at the Dunbar House

This wedding from Nic Porter is no doubt gorgeous. The Monique Lhuillier gown, the gorgeous event design by Papaya, and the pretty Dunbar House playing host – it’s basically the definition of pretty. But it’s the way this couple looks at each other that really makes my heart beat faster, and this gallery if full of proof of just how much these two adore each other. What’s better than that?

From The Bride…With our family spread all over the world, we hardly get to see each other. Our day was about bringing 40 of our closest family and friends together that hadn’t been all together in nearly a decade, or at all in some cases, and have a party that would be treasured and remembered until the next decade!

All of the floral arrangements were created by a family friend and the beautiful, modern, minimal decoration and design was provided by Papaya.

From Nic Porter PhotographyThis was such a beautiful and intimate wedding. Kirsten and Daniel’s families are spread far and wide and you could tell how special the day was to both of them.

The weather added to the day, with a last minute decision to hold the ceremony outside, under the huge tree. The rain just held off until the last minute as the Bride and Groom walked up the aisle. 20 minutes later the sun was out again and made for a beautiful evening.

Simple + Elegant Tuscan Wedding Inspiration

If a classic Tuscan vibe makes your heart sing, but you don’t want to make your guests trek to Italy for your Big Day, might I suggest this lovely inspiration from Katie Jackson? Set at The Gardens At Los Robles Greens, every inch is a Tuscan-loving dream. Fiore Beauty prettied up the Bride with a bold, bright red lip, Petals Floral Design loaded every corner with striking florals and One Smart Cookie Catering set the table with mouth-watering treats galore. From Katie Jackson Photography… The Gardens is an all outdoor brand new wedding site at the Los Robles Greens Golf Course. It opened about 6 months ago. We styled this shoot to complement the Tuscan decor of the venue. We wanted to take away all of the gimicky signs and just have beautiful deserts and the most beautiful flowers. Less is more. The flowers used for the bouquet are to die for. They include peonies, ranunculus and anemones. The coffee beans and other greenery add a little twist on the all-white bouquet.

We also highlighted some very unique deserts (all made by One Smart Cookie Catering) including the following: Pistachio & Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Pistachio Brittle, Lemon Basil Shortbread Cookies with Fresh Lemon Thyme, Baklava Cupcakes with Honey Buttercream and a Caramelized Hazelnut. We wanted to use some different types of desserts (more than just macaroons and cakes or mini pies) to inspire brides to think out of the box when it comes to their desserts.

The groom is also dressed for a summer wedding in an ALL BLACK LINEN suit! It still looks very upscale but is much cooler than a wool suit. Such a great option for a summer groom! We need to think about them too! Fiore Beauty also gave our bride an awesome bright red lip to add a little punch to her look. All of our stationery was created using paper goods from Paper Source and then just printed on a regular printer. It’s DIY but it looks soooo good.

Eclectic Urban Wedding at the Brooklyn Winery

Brooklyn Winery seems like a dream wedding location; a little pocket of easy elegance in the middle of a bustling city. And for a Bride and Groom that wanted a wedding centered around relaxed fun – boom. I think this wedding is just what the doctor ordered. The team behind this day is to thank; talents like Denise Fasanello FlowersExquisite Affair Productions and Betsi Ewing Photography. Take a peek at all of their handiwork right here.

From The Bride…We met at a dive bar in NYC. Stephen was with some friends, and Genevieve was with a friend sitting at the end of the bar. Stephen, who was originally standing, eventually sat down and started inching his way over as seats opened up. Genevieve had definitely noticed him but was trying very hard to ignore him. When Genevieve’s friend (a guy friend from college she ran into, used to date one of her friends) went to the bathroom, Stephen swooned in. Guy friend ended up saying goodbye, leaving us alone, Stephen’s friends also left…the rest is history!

Our wedding theme was relaxed and fun. Once we decided on a the location, the ideas and pieces came together slowly as went through the motions…I did not have a defined idea of how it should all finally look, but I did not feel the need to stick to tradition.

My friend did my invitations, we had loads of fun finding the right look and feel. I loved our entire wedding  and having all our friends and family in the same space was amazing. The dress was one thing I spent more money on…could not find anything I liked at all so I had to up my budget. We did save a lot of money on the invitations, my friend did a nice discount.

Herbs, garden roses and others were in my wedding bouquet, I really wanted a natural romantic feel to them. I love peonies but they weren’t too in season and sometimes don’t hold up well.

The only thing I would have done differently is maybe eaten more cake, it was soo good! Chocolate on chocolate!!

My only advice is to have fun! And don’t sweat the small stuff!

Backyard Bridal Shower

At 28 years old, I’ve officially reached that stage of life where everyone I know is engaged. With plenty of weddings on the horizon, and consequently plenty of bachelorettes, showers and the like, I can’t help but be drawn to stunning events to pull inspiration. Events like this backyard bridal shower, that is so pretty I could cry. Unsurprising, since Jenny Bradley is at the helm. With photos from D’Arcy Benincosa, let’s get lost in the gallery.

From Jenny Bradley… When i got the news that one of my best friends Darya was engaged, i immediately jumped to the task of throwing her her first bridal shower. Darya loves beautiful things and details as much as i do so i knew this shower had to be special and reflect Darya’s simple, thought through style. It was decided that an evening outdoor party in the backyard of my childhood home was the answer, with its quaint cottage look, giant weeping willow trees, cinderblock walls crawling with ivy and expansive weathered deck, it was the perfect backdrop for the fresh, natural and rustic theme i wanted.

I collaborated with some amazing local talents that truly made the party and my vision come to life. I also gathered unique pieces from family and friends like mixed and matched sterling silver flatware, rustic wooden and brass bowls, and sterling silver trays to create a curated look. I crafted a little as well by making frayed linen dinner napkins. The guests were greeted by a self serve lemonade and limeade bar with slices of fruit and freshly cut mint leaves from the garden. The bride was admired in a delicate floral crown and ladies mingled amongst the yard before a delicious buffet style dinner on a table accented with luscious Eucalyptus and a stunning centerpiece full of berry blooms and greenery.

The night was perfect as we ate, laughed and celebrated a beautiful friend

Vintage Glam Mountain Wedding

I’m sending a little shout out to all the DIY brides out there today, particularly this stunning Bride. In the midst of planning my own wedding, going the DIY route sounds appealing, but it’s a ton of work! So when I see it pulled off oh-so-beautifully in this mountain fete from Candice Benjamin, I say kudos to this lovely lady for glamming up a vintage chandelier, crafting a gilded LOVE sign, wrapping over 200 votives in lace and gold and so much more. Don’t miss the sweet film from Cloud 9 Cinematography!

From the beautiful Bride…We were engaged November 2012, and shortly after we drove out to see a venue that I had fallen in love with online, called Serendipity Garden Weddings. It was located at the top of the San Bernardino Mountains, in Oak Glen, CA. I was nervous and excited, I was hoping it was as beautiful in person as it was in pictures. To my surprise, it was even more beautiful in person. Derrick and I loved everything about it, it felt perfect for us. We had never been to an outdoor wedding and we were a little nervous about what our family would think. We decided to bring them out to see it for themselves, and they fell in love with it too! They spent 3 full hours walking around the garden and they didn’t want to leave, we knew then that we had their blessing. The venue was booked every weekend for 2 full years, so we decided we would have our wedding on a Thursday. We were married on a beautiful sunny day on Thursday, August 15, 2013.

I wanted a vintage wedding with a classic, romantic, feel. I love details because they personalize an event. I DIY’d a large portion of our wedding, and loved every bit of the process, it allowed me to be creative again. Over the course of 8 months, I gathered ideas and began tackling each project. My first project was glamming up a vintage gold chandelier that we used as a backdrop for the ceremony. I spent 10 hours gluing crystals to it, and it was worth it. The outcome was just what I had envisioned.  It was the first of many projects and it really set the tone for the rest of the wedding.  My projects for the ceremony area included a wooden aisle sign , reserved seat signs, flower petal cones made of doilies, chalkboards made from vintage frames,  the ring bearers sign, and the flower girls basket and head piece. My brother in law surprised me by hanging crystal strands to the alter. I still remember arriving at the venue, driving up over the mountain and catching a glimpse of the chandelier and the crystals sparkling in the sunlight and swaying in the breeze, it was so beautiful.

I was inspired by a photo that Derrick and I took in front of the LOVE sign in his hometown of Philadelphia. We had lots of Derricks family and friends at the wedding and I wanted to honor his hometown. I found silver LOVE place card holders that we spray painted gold and finished off with a coat of glitter. My lovely and very creative sister Flower hand wrote each of our guests name on cardstock which we used as seating assignments. Flower also wrote our guests name on brown cardstock that we added to each of our guests wine glass using tiny clothes pins. I made a large LOVE sign out of cardboard, glitter, a vintage frame, and a chalkboard, that we placed on the outdoor fireplace. The DIY projects at the reception area also included a chalkboard menu and bar sign, bathroom signs with our baby pictures, Mod Podged ampersand sign to link our chairs together, my bridal hair piece, table numbers, and thank you cards placed in photo booth pictures sleeves.

I love candles, I purchased over 200 votive candles and wrapped half in lace and half I painted gold. They looked beautiful surrounding the gorgeous arrangement made by our wonderful florist at Flowers Ect. I provided him with lace and he wrapped each wooden box with it. I also provided our florist with lots of globe vases filled with glitter that he added small flower arrangements to. The candles, flower boxes, and glitter globes created a gorgeous runner for our long wooden tables.

We love sweets. We added mini cupcakes to our cocktail hour, and they were a hit with our guests. I stained wooden boxes and with the help of my sister Yoli, we created tiny chalkboard signs to label each flavor. I surprised Derrick with a Grooms cake in the shape of a large pink Homer Donut. He loved it, and it was really yummy too! Cucamonga Cakery did an amazing job.

The most memorable portions of the wedding included waiting at the top of the hill right before the start of the ceremony in the horse in carriage and looking down at all our guests, seeing Derrick as I walked down the aisle, my mother daughter dance, Derrick being thrown into the air by my cousins, our first dance, and our human tunnel grand exit.

Our wedding truly felt like a fairytale. We were surrounded by so much love, it was the most beautiful day of our lives. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends and to our amazing photographer Candice for capturing these precious memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Classic Indoor Wedding with a Dash of Glam

I truly believe a sure fire way to a glamorous color palette is to stick to a tried and true black and white combo. It works each and every time. And added to that classic black and white stripe action is a dash of gold and florals by Linda Carson in the loveliest shades of pink. All together, it makes for one gorgeous affair shot by Katie Shuler Photography with a film by 618 Studios. See it all right here.

From The Bride…I was going for soft, classy elegance. The black and white table runners and gold antique accents were Gatsby inspired. Black tie attire and my dramatic gown set the mood for the candlelit dance party later in the evening! Formal but fun!

The color palette was Gold, Black & Cream, Blush, different tones of pale pinks with a touch of mint green. The look was Romantic Classic, with tons of candle lighting.

The bride’s bouquet was pale pink peonies. The wedding party and reception area had 6 different shades and tones of pale pinks, caramel, blush, traditional and garden style roses, white with black center anemones, with a touch of dusty miller and succulents. Each guest table was unique by design, from vintage elements, to crystal bud vases, and random beautiful gold mercury glass votive candles.

A few extra touches were added to the reception area: an elegant seating area, a large antique buffet adorned the cupcakes with beautiful lamps flanking the buffet and a unique seating chart, handwritten on a large gold framed mirror with an antique chandelier leaning on the table.

Whimsical Vow Renewal In Portland

This vow renewal had us swooning immediately. Every shot is brimming with pretty-as-can-be details like vintage candle sticks, flowers from Commonwealth and, oh yeah, the breathtaking natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.  Not to say any of this is shocking. The wife, Lindsay’s, blog Ladybird And Fellow is chock full of cuteness as well.  Check out all Karen Obrist’s photos from the day here!

From Karen Obrist PhotographyI photographed this intimate vow renewal last September and it was beautifully styled and full of details! Tall candlesticks, old books and fresh flowers lined the tables.

Lindsay and Jeremiah have two adorable little ones and a DIY blog of their own in Portland. They were celebrating 10 years together by renewing their vows in the comfort of their home. Close friends and family joined to celebrate and support this incredible couple. It was truly magical to be part of!

Outdoor Engagement Session at Atwater Market

Say the words “summer engagement session” and it’s like an amazing portal into the land of sunshine, waterside picnics and ice cream cones with your honey.  Basically everything this sweet e-sesh captured by Julia C. Vona of Junophoto happens to be.  It’s an adorable duo celebrating 10 years of happiness… and the anticipation of one seriously awesome wedding.  See it all in the full gallery.

From The Bride… We met through our student job in a restaurant back in 2003, became friends and started dating the following year. We’ve been together ever since, surviving the challenges inherent of long-distance dating (which we did for three years), and of juggling master’s and doctoral studies while working. Fred popped the big question in 2012 while hiking on a picturesque path. We asked Junophoto’s team to immortalize our engagement along the Lachine canal in Montreal, close to where we first moved in together. It was really meaningful to go back to a site full of memories of long walks, runs and time spent wining down on the grass, but this time with photographers who knew how to make us feel at ease! We also loved capturing on picture our stop at the Atwater market, where we treated ourselves with a delicious ice cream cone… always my favorite in the hot Montréal summer.

To represent our love of the outdoors, family traditions of DIY of all kinds, but also the chic and glam that comes with our Montreal life, a “rustic chic” wedding was the way to go for us. Planned in 2014 to mark our ten years together, we chose a venue in Quebec city to celebrate this very special moment in the region where we are both from. With the help of family members and friends, this day promises to be filled with joy and personal touches. In short, a wedding full of Mason jars, hand-made embroideries, burlap, wood slices, a S’mores bar to close the event, but, most importantly, a wedding full of love!

Romantic and Rustic Photo Shoot at the Baraboo Arts Center

It shouldn’t come as a surprise when I say I love photo shoots. Particularly when they are as stunning as this one from Dani Stephenson. With gorgeous styling, gorgeous light and gorgeous florals from Wild Apples, every image sitting pretty in this gallery will make you swoon and then some.

From Dani Stephenson PhotographyThis is one of my most favorite projects I have ever done.

Last September I walked into this room (touring for a different event) and inspiration hit me right in the face, I knew I wanted to shoot here and I knew what I wanted it to look like. I need more personal projects like this to feed my creativity.

I wanted classic and romantic with a touch of rustic. I wanted to show you my style and my thoughts and inspiration. I love a barn wedding with burlap and mason jars, but it was important to me to show something different to all of you. I think simplicity is lost at a wedding, I wanted to show that simple and classic is gorgeous and effortless beauty wins.

I gathered some fabulous people to help me put this together and I honestly couldn’t be happier with this project. This is so me and what I am inspired by, it was seamless to put this together because I think it as meant to be, everything fell right into place and it was a gorgeous day.

Classic Manor Wedding

Fridays with a dash of classic elegance are sort of my thing.  Because if ever there was a perfect start to the weekend it’s a stunning bride in Enzoani, a dapper groom in uniform and some of the most beautiful details you have ever seen.  Pair that amazing combo with a breathtaking backdrop like the Great Oak Manor and we have ourselves one fabulous gallery (thank you, Krista A. Jones).  Join me there for more.

And a sweeter than sweet film from Jamie Forzato… you’re welcome.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/95621336 600 338]

From Krista A. Jones… Becca and Ned met on a blind date their senior year of college at the University of Maryland. Although Ned was committed to commissioning into the army and Becca to teaching English in Austria for two years, they couldn’t help but start a relationship. After a two year cross-continental relationship, thousands of flight miles, hundred of emails, and a deployment, Becca relocated to El Paso, TX to join Ned.

From the beginning of their engagement, Ned and Becca envisioned a classic Maryland wedding on the water surrounded by friends and family. As they embarked on planning the wedding from Texas, Ned stumbled across a picturesque bed and breakfast in Chestertown, Mayland called Great Oak Manor. Great Oak Manor provided the perfect backdrop for a three day celebration including a Friday night roast of the bride and groom, outdoor Saturday reception and Sunday farewell brunch.
