From The Bride( a fabulous wedding photographer herself!)…We met in high school. We ran track and cross country together and would never get picked up on time. So we would find ourselves being the only ones left waiting after practice…. so naturally we would talk. After a while we liked each other and started requesting not being picked up on time.

Then so started the omaerin adventure. 10 years later…. we are getting married.

All of the florals on the reception tables, greenery around the wishing well, florals on our cake and the ceremony suspended arch were done by Little Branch. All the florals at the dessert table (excluding cake and small vases) were done by our planner, Enchanted Garden Events & Floral Design.

All of the lanterns were provided by Sweet Emilia Jane.

The yay flags were made by myself  and family from scratch. And the tambourines were made by mom and I from scratch.

Dress: And the BIG BIG one that I’m absolutely happy about in every way possible…Was my dress and veil. It was originally a sample bought from Claire Pettibone named “Misti”. To my knowledge the only one that was made. But my Seamstress made the tweaks and improvements I asked for. Included removing tule part just under the bust to reveal the delicate and simple beading. She totally worked magic to make it fit to my tiny build and body. She added a subtle train with beading so as not to take away from the back. And she added the beads to my sleeves A

The SWEETS sign and our O’n’E sign were completely made by Omar and I. We used free cardboard boxes and went to work with our knives and spray paint.

Pablo Neruda has always been my favorite poet and a special thing between me and Omar as well as the “Love is” newspaper clippings. So that’s why my vows were in the little pink booklet.

From The Bride… My wedding was even more than we had hoped it could be. You always imagine it perfect, but you know despite all the planning, something can always go wrong. Our day was perfect. We were blessed beyond measure. The day of the wedding was perfect. David and Holly were very professional and worked with our photographer as a team. Our family and friends still comment about how contagious their smiles are and how much of a joy they were to be around. We were able to show our video at our Nebraska reception two weeks later and there were very few dry eyes in the crowd. It is perfect. They captured our special day so completely. We love our video and we love them!

From Your Day FilmsWhen cowboy meets cowgirl, it’s a match made in heaven. Tiffany and Devyn are so cute together we can hardly stand it. After meeting each other online via the site WesternMatch.com, their relationship began first by email, then over the phone, and finally in person, when Devyn flew to Spokane to meet Tiffany face-to-face for the first time.

Their wedding day was filled with personalized touches, DIY centerpieces (and so much more!), and most importantly, two families coming together to celebrate the beginning of the next great chapter in the lives of their children. In addition to their big day, we also had the amazing opportunity to meet with Tiffany and Devyn during the week ahead, and sat down with them on the tailgate of Tiffany’s uncle’s classic Chevy pickup so that they could share their adorable love story.

Romantic California Wedding at Carmel Valley Ranch

When I dreamed of weddings as a little girl, I dreamed of weddings just like this one. A timeless and classic day filled with meaningful details. Beautiful captured by Carlie Statsky Photography and planned to perfection by Amy Byrd Weddings & Events – this Carmel Valley Ranch wedding is one that will sure to stick with you today. See what I mean right here.

From The Bride…Our venues were our inspiration. Carmel Valley Ranch and the Mission Bascilica have such a romantic and classy feel and Carmel is so beautiful in the fall. The Indian Summer in November set the perfect scene. Our vendors really turned our vision into a reality and we couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out.

The anticipation of the first look with my future husband was one of the highlights of my day. We had picked out a bridge on the Ranch with a view of the valley to see each other for the first time. Walking towards him on the bridge and later down the aisle of the Carmel Mission, I remember thinking, “This is perfect.”

Vintage Glam Philadelphia Wedding

From the dress to the venue, decor and beyond, this wedding vintage glamour with a pretty little twist. Think Greek Orthodox ceremony and modern warehouse reception with style nods to decades past. Of course, wedding magic is bound to happen when you’ve got vendors like PapertiniAnticipate Invitations, and Bredenbeck’s Bakery working behind-the-scenes, and Annie Hosfeld captured the gallery you don’t want to miss. (Pssst: see the wedding film by Branded Productions below!)

From the Bride… Josh and I both grew up in the same town in Pennsylvania. We went to the same high school (he was a cool senior and I a dorky freshman). Our career aspirations lead us both to New York City, Josh works in software advertising and I work in fashion. We met by chance at a hometown bar on Thanksgiving Eve. I saw him from across the bar and fell in love instantly, I knew I had to meet him. A mutual friend introduced us and we spent the entire night talking about our love of the city and music. Two years later on September 13th 2012, I came home exhausted from working Fashion Week, to a bouquet of red roses and a note from Josh. In the note, he asked me to meet him at our oak tree in Central Park. This is was where he bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

We had a clear vision of how we wanted the day to look and feel like- a glamorous city wedding with warm, vintage touches. We started looking at venues in New York City, but nothing felt right. So we decided to look in Philadelphia on recommendation from Josh’s sister. It was there that we visited and fell in love with Peche, an industrial warehouse that had been renovated to be a space for events. Peche was once a textile mill then a mayonnaise factory. It was the rich history and a unique space that ultimately made us choose the venue for our reception.

Once we secured our venue, I began the daunting task of sifting through my millions of wedding inspirational images, mostly from stylemepretty! I knew I wanted to bring in elements of my career as well as the interests of Josh. We definitely didn’t want the décor to be too girly, one-sided or specifically themed. Instead we wanted our day to emulate these specific words; glamorous, vintage, modern, industrial, rustic and warm. It was important to us to keep it simple, refined and timeless. We decided on a neutral color palette; whites, creams, ivory and pale blush.

My mom and I took on a number of DIY projects. To incorporate my love of sewing, we collected wooden spools of thread that once belonged to both our grandmas and turned them into the name card holders. I also wanted to use my great grandmother’s singer sewing machine, as it was where I taught myself how to sew. It was the perfect place to display wedding photos of our family. This was so special to me because it was a way to honor both sides of our families.

Josh and I love wine, so we thought this was a great way to introduce a more rustic vibe. We filled large letters with corks from bottles of wine we’ve shared with each other over the years. In addition, we used the leftover corks as table card holders tied with twine. To incorporate the city we love so much, all table cards were different neighborhoods in Manhattan. Josh got really into the décor as well! He even took in the DIY fun by constructing several large chalkboards with his brother- in-law. Josh also came up with the Italian strung chandeliers!

Our wedding was exactly what we envisioned. From the beautiful Greek Orthodox ceremony, that honored my mother and my beloved grandparents to our amazing reception at Peche where the energy was incredible. There were so many highlights at the reception, but the best was everyone enjoying themselves in our slow motion booth!! None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our parents and the support of our extended family and friends as well as our incredible vendors. It was truly a dream come true!

Whimsical

From Heppily Ever After WeddingsWhen thinking about weddings, all too often we turn to the long flowing lines that reflect our most memorable fairy tale dream. Centre pieces showering guests with candlelit flowers, tastefully rolled napkins coupled with ornate rings all bringing life to the circular table where guests enjoy an evening of celebration. Why do we still turn to the past? I have always loved fairy tale weddings. Marriage is about two people coming together. Two people, who may be soul mates, coming from different molds, backgrounds and cultures. When coming up with a vision for this styled shoot, Sandy (Sandy Tam Photography) and I envisioned marrying the modern with the traditional. We were inspired by the more modern three dimensional geometric style where flowing lines would be replaced by strong angles. Where the traditional color palette would be replaced by very bold colors, including wild orchid (Pantone’s 2014 color of the year) and yellow. Where better to show this vision than a classic, very traditional venue, The Doctor’s House in Kleinburg, Ontario. Our vision, geometric shapes and patterns, was captured perfectly by Sandy. Her love for natural lighting was fulfilled in this beautiful floor to ceiling window-filled room.

The beautiful bridal gown was provided by none other than the talented Ines Di Santos. The criss-cross pattern on the dress lent itself very nicely to the geometric theme of the day, making it an unparalleled addition to the shoot.

Betty, from Bridal Secretary, truly reflected the beauty of the dress in her hair and make-up creation. By integrating the floral inspiration into her hair accessories, she was able to counter the strong lines of the geometric patterns by introducing soft waves in her hair and an angelic glow in the makeup that complemented the vision wonderfully.

The simple but bold cake was provided by Anna from Ginger’s Cupcakes and Desserts. The simple white cake was contrasted by the boldness of the wild orchid and yellow geometric shapes. The bold shapes of the cake were easily reflected in the cookie bar where guests were offered a selection of their childhood favorites. When thinking of cookies, nothing complements a cookie better than a glass, or in this case a shooter, of white or chocolate milk. Merging flowers into a strong geometric vision was accomplished by Romance Flowers. She infused softness by adding a floral chandelier which very graciously complemented the square table-scape. Michelle, from Romance Flowers, also added green grass spheres for a whimsical touch.

I love incorporating personal touches wherever I can in a wedding. It makes it more unique and catered to the couple. I demonstrated my passion for this by making each of the geometric solid boxes for the thank you favors as well the wall-art showcased behind the cookie bar. Finding little do-it-yourself projects is the most effective way of adding that personal touch.

The styled shoot came together beautifully and we couldn’t have imagined working with a better team. Reflecting on the geometric theme of the shoot, the solid lines, the contrasting colors and the patterns evident throughout the décor, it is easy to see how merging modern with classic has a place in todays’ weddings. Here is to marriages of all shapes and sizes!

Glamorous Orange & Gold Wedding

Take one look at this stunning Scottsdale affair and one thing is pretty obvious: the talented team at Some Like It Classic Wedding & Event Design really know how to throw a glamorous affair.  And not just any glamorous shindig – a golden-hued, take-your-breath-away party boasting vibrant orange hues and glittery goodness from Wildflower Linens.  See it all captured by Bridgette Marie Photography right here.

From Some Like It Classic… To design Colleen and Jarrod’s perfect day, we wanted it to be sophisticated and elegant just like the couple and the venue they loved so much.

The gold chairs with big white bows at ceremony were refined and classic and a last minute detail added by the Mother of the Bride that finished the look. With the existing pavillion, we wanted to soften the white with eye-catching floral and mocha colored fabric that didn’t compete with the design and the stunning lace bridesmaids’ dresses.

In the reception space, the oranges and greens with white and gold accents gave the decor a romantic feel that was timeless, just like the bride. We incorporated subtle sparkles in the rich linen fabrics, lush green floral table runners, and gold candlabras with crystal adorned floral designs.

From the Bride… I remember when I was a little girl walking with my dad along one of the many beautiful paths at the Phoenician Resort. He turned and said to me “Colleen, one day you can come here and get married.” I, of course, replied with something like “Ew, no way dad, boys are gross.” Lo and behold, about twenty years later that is exactly what happened.

I was in a local college bar one evening when I noticed a rather dashing bartender. I remember a feeling coming over me that I must meet this guy. With a little courage I introduced myself, and we hit it off right away. Fast forward a year and a half later he was down on one knee in my backyard, with our two dogs in attendance, asking me to marry him. That day I was filled with so much love and joy in my heart that words cannot describe.

When Jarrod and I started to discuss venue possibilities and our vision for the big day my mind wandered off to those family vacations in Arizona and the Phoenician. To my delight Jarrod is the typical “whatever you want, dear” kind of guy. So the Phoenician it was! Being from Nebraska I knew planning my perfect wedding from a few states away would be a challenge. This is when I sought after a wedding planner that could take my vision of timeless class and elegance and make it into a reality. In my search I stumbled upon Amina Michele, owner of Some Like It Classic in Scottsdale. Amina was an absolute dream to work with. I knew I wanted every detail of our day to stand out with beauty and vibrancy, I’m a girl who loves a little glitter and glam! Amina ran with that and set me up with the perfect vendors who made it all possible!

Jarrod and I were so blessed to get to work with such amazing vendors. Everyone went above and beyond our expectations to make our special day everything we desired. We wanted it to be a great party and for our closest family and friends, who had traveled from all over the country, to have a wonderful time. It was exactly that and more!

On October 5th, as my dad walked me down the path towards the ceremony site, my mind wandered back to twenty years ago when the thought of this day began; it was truly more beautiful that I had ever dreamed. My husband and I are so thankful to the vendors and our family and friends who made our day so perfect!

Destination Bali Wedding Film at Ayana Resort & Spa

Do yourself a big favor today, and set aside some time to watch this film from Denee Motion Boutique Wedding Cinema. Trust me. Because not only is this video a beautiful look into this absolutely amazing wedding, but it’s also like a virtual vacation to Bali. And how can you go wrong with that? It’s five minutes well spent, and it all starts when you push play.

From The Bride…Toby and I met at work and as soon as we figured out that we had so much in common, we started dating. We bought a house over a year ago in Los Angeles and then Toby proposed on my 33rd birthday, november 2nd, 2012. We chose to get married in Bali because it was a childhood dream of mine, my mom being from Indonesia, I have come to bali several times and always knew it would be the place where i would start a beautiful marriage. Since Toby was from UK, this seemed reasonable as his family and friends would have had to fly out no matter where we chose. In 2012 we attended Sean and Simone Hancock’s wedding in France (vimeo.com/44029426), and that is where we had the pleasure of meeting Deneemotion. We fell in love with the video they produced and asked them to be a big part of our wedding. They have captured the most beautiful day in Toby and my life and we can now relive the magical day.

Elegant Indian Wedding

This, my friends, is a wedding that will take your breath away.  A cultural beauty that is rich in gorgeous details (think strands of flowers hanging from the trees and one of the most striking color palettes you will ever see) and a happiness that seems to burst straight from your computer screen.  It’s the epitome of elegance, as captured by the talented team at Bridges Cinema.  Press play for all of the beauty.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/87327712 600 338]

From Bridges Cinema… This was such a magnificent wedding event to capture. We love it when we get to work with an amazing team for a beautiful and sweet couple. Enjoy this film!!

From The Bride… We definitely have an international love story, meeting in Pittsburgh on the last day of college. I was graduating from undergrad, and Raj was finishing his masters; we were both starting work at the same firm and met at a new hire event. We trained together in London, becoming friends and started dating six months later in New York City. Fast forward six years and we got engaged on a surprise ski trip to Lake Placid Raj organized (calling it a super date after “How I Met Your Mother”, which we both love). We immediately knew we wanted a warm and sunny destination wedding, but also wanted a place that would be convenient for our families (Raj’s family in Canada, my family in England and New Jersey, and our friends/extended family in NYC and Chicago). Miami just fit the bill!

We linked up with our amazing wedding planner Amen, who knew all about Indian weddings, and also understood our vision for an elegant, slightly glamorous weekend! We didn’t want a typical hotel wedding and knew we wanted to get married outdoors, and we also wanted a venue that truly transported our guests to a different time and place. The moment we saw Fisher Island, we knew it was perfect, a hidden Island oasis off of South Beach, with a historic charm, beautiful details and a breathtaking view. The majestic tree in the courtyard was perfect for our Indian wedding, with an abstract mandap created by hanging flowers and chandeliers from the tree. We’re also really into animals and planned a safari for our honeymoon, and wanted to incorporate some of this whimsy, from the animal magnet placecard holders (a Christmas present from my sister!) to the penguin cake toppers to the actual peacocks roaming around the Island! Peacock feathers were painted gold and incorporated into the centerpieces for a subtle theme which tied in with the sophisticated but fun Indian wedding! We really wanted our family and friends to have a joyous time!

Classic Lake Tahoe Wedding

By now, I think it’s pretty well known that waterfront weddings are my jam. And when they’re made with love from a handful of seriously talented vendors? They soar even higher in my book. Enter this classic with a touch of modern Lake Tahoe wedding. Merrily Wed made sure every detail was in it’s perfect place, while Jonathan Young snapped it all up for safe keeping. You can find it all here in the gorgeous gallery!

From Merrily Wed… Emily and Joe’s wedding was a modern classic. They exchanged their vows, sipped signature drinks, dined under twinkling market lights and danced on a custom white dance floor with beautiful crystal chandeliers overhead – all lakeside!

The thrills began with Joe making a grand entrance on a classic woody boat with nothing less than formal tux attire for the groomsmen, junior groomsmen and for him. The bridesmaids were gorgeous in long chiffon light gray Amsale dresses while Emily herself wore a stunning Vera Wang gown.

Her adorable 4 flower girls can’t go without a mention either – babies breath hair wreaths with dove grey ribbon completed their ensemble and one dashing little ring bearer completed the beautiful wedding party.

White, silver and black was the predominant wedding color palette with sophisticated detail evident throughout the ceremony and reception. All white luscious florals, white linen, white leather lounge, white wedding cake – wedding white was never seen better!

A custom monogram on the entry wreathes, dining napkins, goodie bags, lounge pillows, matchboxes… Grey escort cards with white font along with silver julep cups, platinum beaded glass charger all subtly added the touch of grey & silver.

Charming Springtime Garden Wedding

I’ll never, ever grow tired of garden-set affairs. Maybe it’s the abundance of blooms or the complete air of romance, but it seems the most perfect place to marry and the proof is at our fingertips. Sunshine Daydream Events coordinated the day, Lilypots designed the florals, and Lexia Frank snapped every detail you don’t want to miss.

The Vision:
Artists themselves, Doug and Leia wanted to tie in their love of art history throughout the wedding. Using Gustav Klimpt’s ‘The Kiss’ as inspiration, they had Illustration artist Joanna Bush design a personalized ‘Kiss’ Illustration. The custom artwork hung in the reception, was used in the invitation suite, as well as the cake.

Wedding Dress:
Leia found the perfect Allure Bridals dress, but it lacked the whimsical cap sleeves she had envisioned. An extra yard of the scalloped lace was ordered, and was seamlessly added- giving that whimsical look Leia wanted.

Jewelry:
Doug and Leia designed their engagement ring together and had it made in Wilmington North Carolina by local jeweler, Scott Rhodes. The ring is rose gold and has an Edwardian antique look even though it’s brand new. One very old element however is the Old European Cut diamond. The opal tear drop are the same color as the Spring Azure butterfly that flutters about the farm.

Bouquets:
Leia chose an unstructured bouquet featuring succulents, dusty pink roses, coral peonies, sweet babyrose, lavender, blue thistle, blue muscario, scilla, ivory and pink astilbe, white stock, and seasonal herbs/berries for added interest.

Custom Cocktails:
Doug and Leia combined their last names for the “PratapaDink-ini”. A delicious grapefruit/citrus and basil vodka martini. “The Yes Dear”- One of Doug’s bourbon concoctions with Sprechers Ginger Ale.

Live Entertainment:
Guests drank signature drinks and danced in the evening sun to the musical talents of The Brothers Quinn- an incredible bluegrass/folk band that dress the part! They are normally a four piece bluegrass/folk band but for our wedding brought in two guest performers to play harmonica and guitar as well.

Vintage China:
Leia collected all the mix-match china for table settings as well as dessert plates.

Cake:
The cake was a mini Raspberry buttercream cake decorated with a Klimt swirl motif. The cake topper was a paper die cut of “The Kiss” by Klimt.

Party Theme: Ice Cream Social

It’s no secret we love a perfectly themed party, and there’s been lot of them over the years. But an ice cream social? Perhaps it’s my sweet tooth talking, but it may just be the cream of the crop! Complete with a mini milkshake bar, make your own sundaes, a banana split cake and then some. We love that it can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike (and you knowww we’ll be sharing all the details so stay tuned)!

TIPS FOR YOUR OWN ICE CREAM SOCIAL

[dotted]

A MINI MILKSHAKE BAR | Tiny glasses make it easy to sample multiple flavors. Even better? Spike the adult milkshakes with a coffee, hazelnut, or amaretto liqueur!

COTTON CANDY WAFFLE CONES | Everything you love about cotton candy, with a crispy waffle cone finish.

BRIGHT PUNCHY DECOR | Stick to shimmering whites and summery yellows, corals, and mints- then drop in a bit of gold to accent the look. We started with a white sequin table linen to give the party a little something special. With treats this colorful, we didn’t want to overload the look so the serveware was kept to sleek, modern clear or white containers. Our preppy striped backdrop punched up the color in a clean, crisp way.

MAKE YOUR OWN SUNDAE BAR | Customized treats have to be the staple of any ice cream party. In this case, too many topping options are a good thing!

HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO | The piece de la resistance of this party is the showstopping banana-split cake topped with a mountain of ice cream. It’s a kid’s (or grownup’s) dream come true!

NYC Rooftop Wedding at the Nomad Hotel

Stylish doesn’t even begin to describe this stunning soiree at the The Nomad Hotel captured by L&L Style Photo. Not.even.close. I suppose that is to be expected when a Glamour fashion editor ties the knot, but seriously, it doesn’t get better than this. With a gown that will make your jaw drop and a couple that defines chic, this gallery is beyond.

From L&L Style PhotoWe’d love to share with you to one of our recent NYC weddings. Paula and Henrique live in Brazil but love New York and wanted to get married here inviting their family and friends to a wonderful wedding party which took place on the rooftop of the Nomad Hotel, one of our faves! Paula works in fashion as editor of Glamour Brazil and we were really excited to capture her wedding in style. The celebration was memorable, full of details chosen carefully by the wedding planners and designers. The bride wore a gown by Brazilian designers Patricia Viera and Atelier Maria Mendes and blue Valentino shoes. The overall look was so glamorous we were delighted beyond words… But more importantly is that they looked so happy together!

Enchanted Garden Wedding

This, loves, is my dream wedding.  A fabulous mix of industrial meets romance all wrapped up in the world’s prettiest garden party.  Think gorgeous hues like fuchsia, pink and forest green joining forces with a talented group of vendors that includes White+white Weddings And EventsThe Butterfly LoungeAmini Concepts Event Styling and Silver Edge Photography.  Get your pretty on right here.

From White+white Weddings And Events… Lizzy and Greg’s lavish garden wedding was truly enchanting. The tree and moss lined entrance included soft draping with floral ribbon detailing, golden accents and a gorgeous antique welcome mirror. Hanging blooms and tea lights with potted trees and wrought iron furniture decorated the cocktail area. Archways were covered in ivy and chandeliers of flowers hung from the inner city warehouse ceiling.

Event designers and wedding planners, white+white, had a vision of absolute opulence in mind for the day and their styling direction helped bring Lizzy + Greg’s wedding to life. By orchestrating and teaming up with world class vendors including Amini Concepts, The Butterfly Lounge and Lightspace, they were able to deliver a soiree of extraordinary proportions.

Amini Concepts delivered to Lizzy and Greg’s wedding a sophisticated magic to match the couples own captivating charm. The indoor garden fashioned at Lightspace was luxe glamour and incorporated soft gold, natural timbers, silver mercury and fresh colourful flowers in abundance thanks to The Butterfly Lounge. The look transformed Lightspace from industrial style to a sensory overload of beautiful fresh greenery, flowers and drapery.

To create the idyllic garden party space, The Butterfly lounge lined the green turf entry with potted flowering plants. Each flower was chosen so that it fitted the garden party brief perfectly – colours and shapes and textures were carefully selected to reflect the randomness of a flowering garden. The arrangements were created with a ‘just freshly picked’ look in mind. The Butterfly Lounge’s favourite element was the living asparagus fern, which gave the scenery its wildness feel. Lisianthus, Cluster Roses, Dahlias, Hydrangea, Roses, Tulips, Peppercorn and Umbrella Ferns were used with some tiny Succulents in the bouquets. The chandelier was created to look as if it had hung there so long that the garden had grown in and over it.

From Closer To Love Photography… Tamara and Tim (also referred to as TimTam) met through a dating website and conversed for a year and half before officially meeting in person in Australia. Tamara is from Sydney, Australia and Tim from San Francisco, which often times made their courtship difficult due to distance, but they kept in touch via phone calls and Skype. They looked forward to reuniting time and time again in Australia and TimTam made the most of every opportunity whenever they were on the same side of the planet. Ultimately, their attraction for each other’s values, honesty and off-beat humor won both of them over and Tim would soon ask Tamara to be his beautiful bride! Having only 2 1/2 months to pull their entire Wedding Day off due to immigration terms, TimTam succeeded at planning and creating an inviting, intimate and homey Wedding at the Rengstorff House in Mountain View, California! Surrounded by dear ones from near and afar, their Wedding Day was filled with so much joy, laughter and endless love from all that were present.

From the beautiful Bride…We feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have found each other from such a distance. Foremost, our Wedding Day details were inspired by the joy of merging our two wonderful families and cultures together (Australia and USA). Our families were over the moon to come together from both sides of the world in celebration. Planning & styling all wedding details ourselves was a fun, creative, and crazy challenge! We set the basics via long-distance, yet had only 2 1/2 months to pull our wedding together following immigration terms, when I arrived permanently in San Francisco. After an exhaustive search of wedding / engagement ring designs, Tim decided to custom design our rings to capture the unique style and characteristics that we envisioned. Lorraine from Derco Fine Jewelers was so helpful, and had them produced just-in-time. I am still amazed that Tim created such beautiful keepsakes, under such pressured circumstances. Our wedding theme began with the words “rustic garden elegance” and ended in a happy mix of decor & a fabulously eclectic selection of music. We aimed to create an atmosphere of fresh, relaxed elegance for our guests and Rengstorff House provided just the right ambiance. It was stately yet inviting, intimate and homely. The lovely gardens also complimented Tim’s passion for gardening. Air plants and succulents are among our favorite plants, so it felt natural that we should integrate them as our guest favors and alongside floral arrangements. We incorporated little Australian details into our stationery & table ornamentation to commemorate my relocation and pay homage to dear absent friends & family who could not be with us at such limited notice. Additionally, our names are Tim and Tam. There was a prevailing unspoken -and spoken!- expectation that we serve TimTam’s on our big day- A favorite Australian biscuit (US translation: TimTam ‘cookies’). We obliged by featuring every available flavor on our dessert table! My family arrived just in time to save my sanity in preparation. Tim likes to refer to his home during this two week period as a “Pinterest Sweatshop”. Friends and family honored us endlessly in their offers to contribute their time and talents to our day. We were absolutely thrilled to have them involved as MC, Photo Booth Operator, Videographer, Day-of Coordinator, Welcomers, Helpers, Heavy-Lifters, Log Choppers, Thrifting Decor Sourcers, Amazing Crafters, and Upscaling Spray Painters! They truly made our day special, and we left smiling from ear to ear.

Elegant Lavender and Lace Farm Wedding

This couple , who happens to own a gorgeous horse farm, decided to host pure wedding perfection in their backyard. With the help of Spread Love Events and Sweet Woodruff, they married the elegance and romance of lavender + lace and crafted them into a day both rustic and timeless. Have a look here for a sea of edison bulbs, garden roses and cowboy boots captured by Rebecca Amber Photography.

From the Event Designer, Spread Love Events…With a love of horses, lavender and lace inspiration and an authentic country setting, Katie and Randy’s wedding was a fairytale day that involved vintage fire trucks and cowboy boots. With the wedding taking place in their beautiful backyard farm, Katie and Randy had a hand in every detail and we had so much fun dreaming up ideas with them. We arrived at the property a few days prior to the wedding to find the bride, Katie, painting over 20 church pews white! In the days leading up to their wedding we painted, nailed, tied, created and styled so many pretty elements. It was a dream to see come together and enjoyed!

From The Bride… From the very first time we went to look at this property, which later became our home, I knew it was where I wanted to marry Randy. The serene setting, and the instant feeling of “this is our home”, made the decision easy for us. Leading up to our wedding day we had our hands busy, from making the wagon wheel chandelier, to painting church pews, and constructing a 300-foot boardwalk for our entrance. Come the day of our wedding I was ready to relax! We had put in such much time and effort; we were ready to enjoy the best day of our lives. The team at Spread Love Events had all the gorgeous details covered with their brilliant styling ideas in full swing, and Melissa from One Fine Day Events was there making sure everything went smoothly. Me being an Equestrian rider, I knew I wanted a rustic feel to reflect my passion in life. Randy, being a carpenter (and the most amazing fiancé) had his hands full every time I came to him with idea of yet another project to make.

My favorite part of the day had to be in the morning when Randy and I saw each other for the first time. We were with my horses taking beautiful photos, and that allowed us to relax and have a few laughs. My advice to future brides is this; not feel afraid to ask for help! I found myself caught up in so many projects at once, since the wedding was at our house, and it sometimes became overwhelming. My sisters and bridal party were amazing leading up to the day helping with all the small details. Weddings are about the love two people share between them, but it also made us realize just how much our family and friends mean to us.

Newlywed Breakfast in Bed with Macy’s

Surprising your honey with breakfast in bed is such a fun + romantic way to celebrate your new title as an engaged couple — and it’s the perfect excuse to use all those gifts that have started arriving from your registry! So to keep up with our Registry to Reality series, we’ve teamed up with Macy’s to put together the perfect morning treat using all the fabulous tools and appliances you’ll want for a fully stocked newlywed kitchen. Here we go!

[gallery gid=”21662″]

Now that you’ve marked the calendar for your romantic rendezvous, we’re sharing some of our favorite recipes to whip for your perfect breakfast! And that’s not all, we’ve also got a few tips to make your romantic morning the best.one.ever.

1. Choose the best time: Be sure to plan on a day with a with a light schedule where you can really relax. Don’t wake them up too early (big no-no!) or wait so long that they’re starving and itching to get the day started!

2. Wow with presentation: Decorate your tray with some lovely linen napkins, like these Chilewich Solid Linen Napkins, and add fresh flowers in a kate spade new york Castle Peak Bud Vase to really make the breakfast feel special. And be sure to use your prettiest plates — we can’t get enough of the Lenox Simply Fine Chirp Round 4-Piece Place Setting which is perfect for everyday and special occasions! Garnish with fruit or herbs so it feels like you’re serving breakfast in a five-star hotel and not your bedroom.

3. Pour all liquids only ¾ of the way to prevent spills: This may seem obvious, but I’ve made this mistake before! Make lids for liquids using saran wrap and a rubber band (just like hotel room service!)

4. Keep it a surprise: Prep as much as you can ahead of time — chop veggies, squeeze juice and bake muffins the night before. In the morning, tuck a towel along the crack of the bedroom door so coffee and bacon scents don’t waft through — hey, being sneaky can be fun sometimes!

5. Add thoughtful touches: Bring up your honey’s favorite newspaper or magazine or a handmade card tucked into the tray to make the gesture even more heartfelt!

6. Pamper them with a complete relaxing experience: Set the tray aside when you bring it up so you can fluff pillows and make them comfy. Enjoy your morning together with a glass of champagne served in a beautiful Waterford Lismore Nouveau Fluteor give them the gift of quiet time to eat. After breakfast, set up a bubble bath for your spouse while you handle cleanup!  Romance is in the air!

Rose Gold Wedding Inspiration

Not only does this slice of pretty from Roots Of Life Photography and Joanna B Artistry represent a lovely array of Chicago wedding industry talents—but the fresh approach to every little detail makes it a total trendsetter. Set at the clean, crisp Chicago History Museum, it’s filled with rose gold touches, a cute-as-can-be popcorn bar, heavenly florals from A Splendid Occasion and so much more. Head to the gallery for every bit!

From Roots Of Life Photography… Joanna of Joanna B. Artistry & I are pleased to share our latest styled shoot featuring a luxurious palette of rose gold, pale blush, cream and gray. I would describe this inspiration shoot as sweet, classic & chic… a modern twist on the traditional (and trendy) wedding. In thinking about what key elements we wanted to focus on, Joanna & I decided we wanted the shoot to be practical & relate-able while introducing brides to new and emerging trends, colors and themes from the wedding industry.

The biggest new element & focal point is the rose gold or copper color you will see throughout the shoot. Brides are quickly becoming obsessed with it as the trend is fast emerging on social media. I have been seeing more and more rose gold rings lately, several women I know have even changed their wedding rings to rose gold! CA Jewelers gave us two sets of wedding ring & band options and I just had to show you pictures of both. Stunning!

Plate & Nimble Well did a fantastic job of using the rose gold color in designing the tables. The blush chargers, water goblets, sweets displays & hand painted silverware really tie everything together. Our ‘Chicago’ Mule signature cocktail mugs are perfectly paired with the theme as well. Speaking of signature cocktails, CH Distillery & Goose Island pair nicely in our ginger drink.

Something fun we wanted to do was feature ONLY Chicago vendors, a celebration of the best our city has to offer. Chicagoans are very proud of their city and we wanted to show brides that they too can incorporate their own cities local businesses, trends, foods & products into their wedding design without it appearing to ‘themed.’

Another element we wanted to tie in was comfort. Midwest brides are all about comfort, even the ones with large wedding budgets. That being said, we wanted to do something different and veer off from the food & favors that are currently on trend (I’m looking at you French Macaroons!). Lovely, A Bake Shop made us delicious mini doughnuts & peanut butter fluff pies for our sweets table as well as provided us with small jars of their home-made jam as ‘favors’. Their peach-lavender jam is to die for!

Instead of a trendy candy bar, we put together a popcorn bar featuring Chicago vendors. I am a popcorn addict myself and was thrilled with how well this came together. Oh Olive butter flavored olive oil & white truffle oil serve as a nice base for toppings. The ‘Spice House’ spices feature a Chicago theme, place or element and taste DELICIOUS on popcorn. Both companies work with brides to create fun favors and elements for any wedding or event. Our paper products from Fox & Hound Paperie are so chic and fun. Don’t you just love those custom popcorn bags?!

Tiffany of A Splendid Occasion (SMP Little Black Book member) nailed our vision and her floral pulled everything together in a cohesive way. The venue, Chicago History Museum, is the PERFECT place for a classic & timeless Chicago wedding. The Chicago Room is just breath taking.

Our bride, looking classically beautiful, showed off this Alyssa Kristin gown flawlessly. Her Groom couldn’t take his eyes off her…
