Enchanting Italian Lake Engagement

Get prepared to be mesmerized lovelies, because this afternoon of love from Sandra Aberg is drenched in utter romance. A turquoise blue lake, a wooden rowboat adorned in ivory blooms, some seriously stunning style and views that will take your breath away… it’s truly entrancing in every way possible. Head over to the gallery for so much more!

From Sandra Aberg PhotographySilvia and Roberto were a joy to work with and made the whole day a lot of fun. Their laid back, easy going attitude and obvious passion for each other (you would never guess that these two have been together for 20 years!) was a perfect match for the elegant styling of this engagement session.

We started out with a romantic boat ride and had the lake pretty much to ourselves. The simple wooden row boats were the perfect compliment to the serene mountain setting and the color of the water was intensified by the all the sunlight and clear blue sky. From there we moved to a spot on the hill, and then to the dock where the couple had prepared a picnic to enjoy.

Roberto was classic Italian suave in his crisp blue jacket, white shirt and khaki pants. Silvia started in a beautiful white gown, switched to a lovely green dress, and then wore a white blouse, pants, and heels for their picnic.

The elegant Silvia chose the different outfits, and had the flowers made to decorate the boat, as well as the garland she wore. It was no surprise to discover that she works as an interior designer and arcitect all over Italy.

The weather, the lake, the reflections, Silvia and Roberto’s love story, it all came together to create a magical experience and a fairy tale engagement session.

They are planning a drop dead gorgeous wedding at a stunning Villa just outside of Venice next summer… stay tuned!

Sonoma Ranch Wedding Inspired by All Things French

If you have a love for all things French or an affinity for a good glass of bubbly then you will adore this gem to bits. It’s French countryside by way of Sonoma captured in such a pretty way by Jose Villa. With layered neutrals, hand-crafted signage and wildly elegant flowers and garland designed by Flower Wild and planned by Rosemary Events  this talented bunch has made some serious magic.

From Rosemary Hattenbach of Rosemary Events … Marilyn & Spencer came to me in search of the perfect intimate, European style setting for a French inspired wedding. We found it in a charming Sonoma villa on a beautiful 75 acre Sonoma Ranch and designed a wedding for them celebrating all their favorite things – all things French.

Their hilltop ceremony was at a lookout at the top of the ranch with views of the surrounding countryside. Marilyn arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce. Kate Holt from Flowerwild added the finishing touches to the already gorgeous setting with loosely grouped herbs tied with silk ribbon streamers on the aisle. Garlands of Pittosborum lined the path. Framing the couple on either side of the stage were large baskets spilling with clematis, bridal veil, spirea, garden roses and other various blooms.

Afterwards, the couple led a procession down the hill to the home where the reception was held. On arrival guests sipped champagne and enjoyed a selection of artisan cheeses and charcuterie while listening to the sounds of Ever Music Jazz ensemble. The delicious French inspired meal was prepared by Ramekins, Sonoma and featured many of Marilyn & Spencer’s favorites.

Guests dined on a beautiful stone patio set beneath towering redwoods where they were seated at long wood tables. The area was lit with stringer lights and tons of candlelight. Gorgeous white florals and caramel roses were set on a burlap runner that was laid over a layer of very loosely woven cheesecloth on the wood tables for a softer more feminine feel.

At each place setting ceramic coupe chargers were graced with a white & taupe grain sack striped napkin from La Tavola Linen. Atop the napkin was a “taupe on white letterpressed” menu and a singular bloom of garden rose. At each guests’ seat was a hand calligraphed place card in the form of a mini butcher paper scroll that wrapped around the stem of the wine glass.

A French wine riddling rack from Chateau Sonoma was filled with floral and little butcher paper cones for guests to drop well wishes for bride and groom

When guests came back into the house for dancing, the room was a glow with amazing candelabras. A beautiful dessert station & wedding cake by Sweet on Cake offered a sweet finish to the meal. Marilyn even arranged a surprise Guittard Hot Chocolate station for Spencer so he could indulge in his favorite after dinner treat. The couple kicked off the dancing with “Let it be Me” by Ray La Montagne and didn’t stop dancing until the bitter end. It was a gorgeous evening.

Colorful Classic North Carolina Wedding

M’dears, this is what happens when traditional elegance meets modern whimsy. Designed by Leigh Pearce Weddings, this Southern soiree is brimming with color, most notably in the cheerful florals from Amy Lynne Originals. And the reception? It’s a casual elegance like no other with crisp linens from La Tavola, gilded pretties here and there and candlelight sprinkled throughout. Anna Paschal made sure no detail went un-captured and you can see them all right here!

From the beautiful Bride… Once we got engaged, Andrew (my now husband!) and I discovered that we had two very different visions of how we wanted our wedding to look. Andrew wanted formal and traditional and I wanted informal and unique. However, we both agreed on how we wanted our wedding to feel: fun, joyful, and celebratory. We wanted our guests to experience our joy and love. We wanted them to feel comfortable enough to let loose, dance and enjoy each moment of the ceremony and reception.

With the help of our wedding planner Leigh Pearce, we found a beautiful middle ground in the design of our wedding. Everything came together in a way that represented both of our personalities. For the ceremony we were able to combine the traditional feel of Phillips Chapel with the lively colors in the flowers and bridesmaids dresses. The reception was held at Revolution Mills, an old renovated cotton mill. This location gave the reception the unique touch that I was looking for with the industrial elements of the building while still providing Andrew with the classic look of the rich dark wood and exposed brick that ran throughout the venue.

Of course, it was the décor that truly melded our styles together. Soft whites, pinks and mints were punctuated with golden yellows, bold pinks, and sumptuous teals. Milk glass and gold vases, soft patterned linens, and candlelight made the tables feel luxurious, timeless, and airy. Prior to the wedding everyone warned me to enjoy my food tasting because that would be the last time I’d get to taste my wedding food. WRONG. I was actually able to sit down at my wedding and eat our delicious dinner of elevated southern comfort food!

Then came the dancing! One of the many reasons that I chose Revolution Mills was for the dance floor. Many previous brides who had enjoyed their receptions at this venue opted for a dance floor upstairs with the dining area. However, there was a beautiful downstairs area that was framed in by the large double staircases. I loved the idea of having something different than any other wedding I had ever been to. We decided to make that downstairs area our dance floor and string Edison bulbs across the banisters making a canopy over us as we danced the night away. It was a brilliant idea! I loved being able to see our guests surrounding us as they stood on the bannisters to watch our first dance.

I’m sure that I’m forgetting a million important details as I’m describing one of the most beautiful days of my life. However, what really stands out to me when I think of my wedding is how the day felt. I remember taking a moment to pause during dinner to look around the room. All I saw were smiling, laughing faces. The room felt relaxed and full of joy! I was sitting next to my amazing husband and surrounded by people who loved us very much. While the entire event seems like somewhat of a blur, I will always remember that feeling. That feeling of being unbelievably blessed, loved, and grateful for it all.

Pop Art Wedding Inspiration

I’m all about breaking the “mold” and when it comes in the form of one absurdly cool shoot from Magnificent Milestones, you better believe things are about to get good. Inspired by the ’60’s Pop Art movement and translated into a wedding setup  – not to mention the most amazing floral backdrop by Dilly Lily – the gallery from Amanda Hein is modern bride’s heaven on earth.

From Magnificent MilestonesOne of the most familiar representations of Americana and the party decade of the 1960s, the Pop Art Movement also acted as inspiration for this colorful shoot. From bold, saturated colors and fonts to cheeky floral portraits of the bride and groom, the details came together to create a party as lively as the couple it celebrates. This perfectly executed shoot, captured by Amanda Hein Photography, drew on the spirit of sheer joy and vibrancy that can be found in Pop Art and in celebrations of love everywhere.

The crisp, clean venue of Chez-Chicago, new to the city of Chicago, added contemporary glamour to the festive details and provided an elegant backdrop to the amped-up color palette of the décor.

Invitations, menus, and other punchy paper pieces created by Magnificent Milestones used multiple Pop Art elements, from geometric designs and patterns to ultra-Mod fonts. Splashes of lively pinks, oranges, yellows, and reds reflected the energetic soul central to Pop Art. Even Andy Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s Soup Cans made an appearance, acting as labels for veggie chips as colorful as their surroundings!

The expertly selected floral arrangements, done by Dilly Lily/Christine Noelle Design, were a kaleidoscopic vision of hot pinks, sunny yellows, and vivid tangerines. The floral mosaics of the couple drew on the work of Roy Lichtenstein—another respected Pop Art personality. Renowned for his comic strip-inspired paintings, Lichtenstein used large dots in bold colors in the same technique used to print graphic novels and cartoons. These playful portraits added an ultra-personal touch while keeping with the lighthearted theme.

The floral centerpieces and the bright white tables from Tablescapes were a match made in heaven. The crisp, clean surroundings were reflected flawlessly in the simple, bright white furniture, creating a stunning contemporary canvas for the Pop Art-inspired details.

This play between contemporary flair and Pop Art playfulness was further repeated in the fabulous fare from Entertaining Company—from the vibrant, fresh green color of the chimichurri and triangular shapes of the New Zealand baby lamb chops, to the bold circles found in the Round Crabcake and the Layered Vegetable Tian with heirloom tomatoes, to the vibrant Blood Orange Martini. We absolutely loved the application of geometric shapes and bright colors found throughout the shoot!

Grilled Peaches with Balsamic Reduction (A Paleo, Whole30 & Vegan-Friendly Recipe)

Peach season is here! I’ve been anticipating it all year long and the collection of fabulous peach infused recipes I’ve amassed over the last few months is proof. I plan on eating these bad boys until I’m blue in the face. Up first: Olive You Whole‘s grilled peaches with a sweet balsamic reduction. So good. So healthy. In fact, it’s paleo, vegan, whole30 and all!

From  Lauren Carnes Photography… The “dog days” of summer are upon us, but that doesn’t mean you have to let the heat get you down! Now is the perfect time to head to the lake with friends for a weekend getaway, and while you’re at it, stop at a roadside stand for some fresh, local peaches to make this delicious, seasonal & simple dish: Grilled Peaches with Balsamic Reduction.

With so many restricted diets these days, it can be hard to find a dish that is fit for everyone. While you’re spending time with friends, fire up the grill for these amazing Grilled Peaches with Balsamic Reduction that are Paleo, Whole30 and Vegan-Friendly. Plus, it’s guaranteed to please even the pickiest of palates! With the combination of savory and sweet flavors, it’s the perfect finish to a day in the sun. Plus, there simply is no better time than summer to enjoy a fresh, local peach!

We were on a mission to create a dish that was sweet and delicious for those who might have restricted diets, but one that even the most discerning chocolate cake lover would enjoy! With so many people aiming to rest and “reset” their bodies during the summer months, Whole30 has become very popular. But a restricted diet shouldn’t mean that you have to avoid “sweets.” Here’s the perfect recipe for fruit lovers and cake/cookie/ice cream lovers alike!

  • 6 large peaches
  • 3/4 c balsamic vinegar

  1. Wash peaches and cut in half along the natural groove of the peach. Twist both sides to evenly remove one side. Remove the pit.
  2. Fire up the grill and get the grates nice and hot. Rub a small amount of olive oil on the grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Place peaches on grill, open side down, for 15-20 minutes.

These peaches are a perfect addition to any meal and will surely wow the crowd!

Rustic Elegant Vineyard Wedding

I totally get why this beautiful bride watches her wedding film from East West “all of the time” – it’s awesome.  The kind of awesome that is the perfect sneak peek into the lives of two cuties who were totally meant to be, and celebrated that soul mate status with a rustic meets sophisticated affair dripping with beautiful details and a timeless elegance that is all sorts of amazing.  Press play, lovelies.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/71515956 600 338]

From the Bride… I’m sure brides can relate, but I watch my wedding video all the time! It not only captures all of the highlights of the day and our gorgeous backdrop, but it reminds me of all of the little things that made our wedding day perfect.

Ryan and I met eight years ago during a senior class ski trip to Canada. Although we had attended the same high school in Northern Virginia for years, it wasn’t until that trip that we caught each other’s eye. Five years later, Ryan proposed on Christmas Day in front of my parents and grandparents. At the time, we were living outside of Orlando, FL – both of us worked for Disney – but we knew immediately that the wedding would take place back in Virginia.

After months of searching, I came across Veritas Vineyard in a random picture online and I was determined to see it in person. Despite pouring rain during our first visit, we were certain we found our venue. It was the perfect setting for our “big day” – beautiful, inviting, and timeless.

We didn’t want a fancy, over-the-top affair – that’s not our style. Our goal was for our guests to have fun, and to accomplish that, I wanted an atmosphere that was welcoming, but still special. My vision for the day was simple, rustic elegance, so we mixed high-end pieces with personal touches, handmade items I found on Etsy, and a number of DIY projects. We also had beer brought in from a Charlottesville brewery located just a few miles away. It was a great touch and the guests loved it! In addition, my dad, Ryan, and his dad wore matching black cowboy boots (a tradition in my family) that they picked out together.

Looking back at the video from our wedding day, everyone – especially Ryan and I – was having fun. From the first look to the formal photos to the sparkler exit, we were grinning from ear to ear. Our wedding was exactly what I had hoped for and more, and that’s only solidified when months later, Ryan and I still hear stories about how much our guests enjoyed it and “it was the best wedding they’ve been to.”  In the end, we wanted it to be a big celebration of love and happiness… and I think we accomplished just that!

Romantic Wisconsin Wedding at Lake Park Bistro

I have a tendency to gush about things (rightfully so, I suppose, since I do spend my days knee deep in pretty), but if there ever was a wedding worthy of a serious gush-fest, this beauty captured by Leo And Jenny Photography would be it. Perfectly planned by this gorgeous Bride’s sister, every detail is not just beautiful, but filled with love – leaving me head over heels for this gallery.

From The Bride…Josh and I both graduated from Notre Dame, but we didn’t meet on campus. Ironically, we met in Ann Arbor at the Notre Dame/Michigan football game. We’d both be lying if we said there weren’t instant sparks. Four years later, Josh proposed while visiting me in my hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on a dock on Lake Michigan. I was so surprised and excited, I thought I was going to pass out and fall into the water!

We knew we wanted our wedding to be romantic and beautiful, but also wanted to throw an awesome party for all of our friends and family. I had always dreamed of having an outdoor wedding, and when we discovered that Lake Park Bistro, one of our favorite restaurants in the city and the place we celebrated our engagement, did tented weddings, we were sold.

With the venue set in a tent at Lake Park Bistro overlooking Lake Michigan, truly the rest wouldn’t have gotten done without my sister/MOH/wedding planner/coordinator, Amanda. With her eye for aesthetics and style that I will never understand, she planned the most perfect day that Josh and I could ever have imagined. From the cocktail hour on a staircase that looked down on the lake, to the sea of blush flowers that greeted guests in the tent, to the rocking band that kept the dance floor packed all night and Leo and Jenny that captured it all, our wedding was our definition of perfect. We feel so blessed, and only wish we could go back and do it again!!

Lavender Farm Engagement Session

There are engagement sessions, and then there is this breathtaking work of art from Destiny Dawn Photography – an engagement session to end all engagement sessions with one seriously gorgeous duo, stunning florals from Ooh La La Designs and a lavender field setting that can only be described as downright magical.  It’s a gallery full of gorgeous, lovelies.  Join me there for more.

From Destiny Dawn PhotographyWeir’s Lane Lavender & Apiary was the perfect setting to celebrate the recent engagement of Eric and Stephanie. The sweet sunset, the golden wheat fields and the supple lavender gardens made for a picturesque backdrop to display their true love and affections for one another.

To complement nature’s stunning backdrop and the most gorgeous couple, Ooh La La Designs created breathtaking floral pieces to bring out an earthy boho look to Eric and Stephanie’s session. The florals in the bouquet and headpiece were thoughtfully put together to have a beautiful connection with the couple, as lavender is symbolic of love and devotion – and is commonly viewed as the “promise of new adventure” – and what better way to speak light and love over this couple, then to incorporate special meanings into every facet of this session.

Eric and Stephanie will be tying the knot next August 2015 and they are excited to continue to watch their love blossom and look back on this beautiful session as a reminder of their love for one another.

Texas Airport Elopement at Denton Municipal Airport

Elopements always have me at hello. But an elopement at an airport complete with a couple that flies off into the sunset? That’s next level amazing. With Lindsey Zamora on board to make sure their intimate affair didn’t lack on style, and Apryl Ann behind the lens to snap up every picture perfect moment – you’ll need to buckle your figurative seat belts before diving into this gallery.

From Apryl Ann PhotographyJean and Aaron’s wedding was the essence of simplicity and elegance. But most importantly, it was true to them. After deciding it was only going to be the two of them at the airport where Aaron’s plane was kept, they hired Lindsey Zamora to help make the otherwise ordinary location a stylish affair. The ceremony backdrop was made with french doors they will later use in their home draped with fabric of gold, sheer, and burlap. They kept the color pallette neutral. The day was filled with true emotion from hand written vows all the way up until their literally send off in Aaron’s airplane!

Romantic Dairy Farm Wedding

The Fearrington House might be my new favorite place in the world to say I do.  And when I say it “might,” I mean that it totally is.  Dairy farm meets classic beauty, it’s the perfect place to celebrate romantic nuptials just like this one: a day filled to the brim with lace, rustic meets gorgeous details and one breathtaking moment after another captured by Krystal Kast.  Get your pretty on right here.

Romantic

From Krystal Kast Photography… Meg and Nick met in Washington DC and, after dating for two years, they moved to North Carolina for graduate school at UNC Chapel Hill. The weekend before they started school, they we went to dinner at Fearrington. After dinner, they passed a wedding reception at the Fearrington Barn and sneaked a peek inside. Meg whispered to her mom, “I am going to get married here!” The next summer, Nick proposed to her on top of a mountain while they were vacationing in western North Carolina. They knew right away that they would be saying their vows in the Fearrington gardens.

From The Bride… Nick and I wanted our wedding day to be simple and relaxing (as relaxing as your wedding day can be…) with a small group of our closest family and friends. We looked for ways we could add small personal touches throughout. We designed and printed our save the dates, invites, and thank you cards. They reflected the simplicity and rustic feel we wanted for our day. My sister designed our monogram for the invites, which we also printed on labels for our welcome bags. We designed and printed our own wedding weekend crossword puzzle and newsletter with directions, restaurant and shopping recommendations, and travel info to include for our guests. We opted not to have attendants, and instead found ways to include our parents and siblings into other aspects of our ceremony. We asked our 65 guests to pass our rings to bless them during the ceremony so everyone could be included. For cocktail hour, we pulled dozens of old childhood pictures from albums, reprinted them and strung them between two vintage ladders with clothespins along with our seating arrangements. It created a really fun centerpiece to complement the surrounding gardens and pastures. Instead of a more formal plated dinner, we worked with Fearrington to create an amazing reception menu (including our favorite, Carolina pork bbq) that allowed us to mingle with all of our guests before we started the dance party. We were so happy to have created such a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere where we could really enjoy every moment of our wedding!

Traditional Massachusetts Wedding at Saphire Estate

http://saphireeventgroup.com/venues/saphire-estateElegant in every sense of the word, this Saphire Estate wedding is just as gorgeous as they get. Complete with florals from Talvy Brothers Florist so pretty I want to squeal (hello peonies, I’m talking to you), perfectly planned details from Saphire Event Group and gorgeous images from Once Like A Spark Photography – it goes without saying, spending some time in this gallery is a must

From Saphire Event GroupSurrounded by family and friends, high school sweethearts Nicole and Greg exchanged vows during a traditional catholic mass at St. Mary’s in Foxborough, MA. The newly married couple arrived to their Saphire Estate reception in a stunning 1937 Cadillac that perfectly complimented the brides shimmering Lazaro gown. The gorgeous sun-filled spring day provided the perfect backdrop for stunning photos along picturesque Lake Massapoag and throughout the lush Saphire Estate gardens. A colorful palette of blue and green with touches of pink filled the ballroom. The couple’s main focus for their reception was having stations their guests would enjoy, including a photo booth, cannoli dessert station and a cigar roller with custom cigar bands designed by Greg’s dad. The signature drink, pear vodka with St. Germain and champagne, was selected by guests at Nicole and Greg’s engagement party. From the newlywed’s first dance to Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” to end of the night dance-offs, the event was truly a night to remember.

From the Bride and Groom… As a British national, precious time with our friends and family is rare. A destination wedding seemed the perfect excuse for a group holiday. We chose Italy as a location and Villa Catureglio in the small Tuscan town of Borgo a Mozzano as our venue. A 13th century property with a central villa, chapel and five small cottages in the grounds, 41 of our 60 guests were accommodated for four nights. We were married in the garden on a beautifully sunny day in May, with the small chapel as our backdrop. The ceremony was a simple affair, our bridal party consisted of our best man and my twin sister as maid of honour. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed an ‘apperitivo’ on the lawn, with prosciutto, local cheeses and prosecco. The photo shoot was fun and relaxed and included a trip to the local medieval “devil’s bridge”. Later we enjoyed a traditional rustic four-course Italian feast and fantastic Italian wine in the open air, surrounded by fairy lights. The Long tables had been beautifully decorated with fresh peonies, herbs and candles thanks to our dear friends; Fiona Deans-Dundas from couture wedding planning and Sydney-based florist Maria Lush, who also created our bouquets. The day ran smoothly thanks to my brother’s MC skills (and his military training). We danced into the early hours under the stars.

From Brklyn View Photography… When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible”. It’s probably the most famous quote from “When Harry Met Sally” (an all-time favorite of mine) and sums up the love between Adrienne and Steve perfectly. These two are meant to be together. The happy couple included this quote as part of their vows during their romantic wedding ceremony at the Brooklyn Winery and there was not a dry eye in the room.

From the love and emotion that swept through the winery, you could see their happiness blossom as they became husband and wife. Adrienne looked radiant in her lace wedding gown and intricate gold and crystal headpiece from Twigs and Honey. As a creative couple, Adrienne handcrafted many of the weddings details which included hand stamping the escort cards, designing the invitations and using a few of their favorite movie stars as table numbers. Adrienne & Steve are one of the nicest, sweetest and most thoughtful couples and I’m so honored I could be part of their wedding day. I’m beyond thrilled for them and wish them lots of love and happiness for many years to come. Congratulations Adrienne & Steve!

From Raconteur Photography… Luke and Carly were married just over a year ago in a beautiful ceremony at Melany on the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately Carly couldn’t include her big baby Bacardi in the ceremony or the wedding photos. I new Carly loved her horse and when I saw she instagrammed some photos of her riding on the beach, I immediately wanted to do a styled shoot with her in her wedding dress on the beach with her horse. Carly was all for it as she never got photos of that on her wedding day, but her mother wasn’t after spending an excess of six hours hand cleaning her dress after the wedding. I think her words were “I will kill you .”  I contacted Lee of House of Serendipity Gowns Gold Coast to see if she could help and she was more than happy as she had some beautiful gowns that she wanted to showcase.

I also contacted Charlotte of Skeleton Leaf on the Gold Coast to see if she would like to do something for the horse and Carly, she had wanted to do a floral reef for a horse for a while and came up with the amazing piece. We wanted to keep the shoot simple and not overdone to reflect the beautiful location and the people within the images. Hair and make up was beautifully done by Elle of Glamamour Make Up by Elle.

The weather on the day was not supposed to be good with storms predicted, but we traveled down to Cabarita Beach to the Pony Club across the road where we met with everyone to get ready.  Being an actual couple and not models was great for me, as I could interact with them and get the chemistry they have to flow. A storm did eventually roll through as we packed up and dashed for our cars it hammered down. I hope you love the images as much as Carly did and all of us making them.

DIY Gold Heart Arrows + Rustic Whimsical Wedding Inspiration

This rustic-whimsy infusion from Studio Finch is literally packed with pretty. The gems from Artifact Vintage bring a slightly boho touch, Pollen‘s florals are crawling with a wild beauty and the playful cake from Lovely Bake Shop is the slice of sweetness to balance out the unrefined backdrop. Feast your eyes on the gallery and take a peek below for Revelry Creative‘s fabulous gold heart arrows!

From Studio Finch Photography… Gold, Arrow infused with antlers and whimsical florals bejeweled with antique turquoise jewelry was the inspiration for this rustic styled shoot in Chicago. We wanted to emphasize a woman’s strength and pair it with a soft whimsey and rustic elements paired with gold. The whimsical tulle dress contrasts beautifully with the strong curves of the antlers and the golden arrows. Turquoise added the pop of color along with the pinks and blushes in the florals. Allie Hasson provided amazing watercolor invitations to be paired with Artifact Vintage’s amazing collection of antique bridal jewelry. Rustic, Whimsical and Timeless. Project Runway’s Kate Pankoke of Elaya Vaughn paired the shoot with a beautiful tulle wedding gown.

A Signature Cocktail was inspired by the forging roots of Ginger, provided by the Chicago Distiller Koval and the Ice for the Signature Cocktail was Provided by Just Ice, INC. We wanted to keep the shoot as Chicago as possible with local vendors. Signature Cocktail: Ginger Root Citrus Wagon, 1 Part Koval Bourbon Whiskey, 1 Part Koval Ginger Liquor, Large Square Ice Cube, Fill with San Pellegrino Sparkling Lemon Citrus Soda. Add Rosemary for an aromatic garnish.

Outdoor Art Gallery Wedding in Miami

In Miami there lies a pretty art gallery that happens to have one very fabulous green garden. It’s a space transformed by Danielle Cipriani and Unearthed Vintage into a coconut toting, family style reception who’s laid back, simple details only add to the overall beauty of the day. Take one look at the gallery captured by Jessica Lorren Organic Photography and you’ll be smitten too.

From The Bride…Miami was always where we envisioned getting married. I am the editor of racked.com and Andy is the CFO of jugofresh. We are in New York City, and Miami was our first trip together as a couple. When we moved here more than four years later, it seemed fated. When you’re our age (early 30s), you’ve been to more than a dozen weddings, and you’ve drawn up a list of likes and don’t likes. We both agreed we wanted the event to feel like a casual backyard dinner–just a bit more sophisticated. The M Building in Miami’s Wynwood, an underused space that doubles as an art gallery, was a perfect match. Since our guests were flying in from all over the country, we wanted to make the night really fun and relaxed for them, too. Our friends at Coconut Cartel made custom coconuts for people to enjoy when they arrived, which really helped set the mood. The entire night was incredible, but the ceremony was really the highlight. We met Levi Felix, our officiant, when we went on a digital detox [thedigitaldetox.org] retreat outside San Francisco a few years ago. He was such an amazing and genuinely warm and kind person, and we were thrilled when he agreed to travel all the way to Florida for our wedding.

Bluebird Kisses Home Tour

As far as I’m concerned, Ana of Bluebird Kisses is living the dream. Located in the west end of Toronto, walking distance from some of the city’s best restaurants, bars and fancy doughnut shops, this renovated Victorian is enough to make any design lovers knees buckle. With photos from Annawithlove, we don’t mind if you stop and stare.

From Ana… We bought a 107 year old home with lots of quirks knowing we would likely need to put some work into it. Its previous owner had lived here for over 50 years and took amazing care of it. It may sound odd but I look at homes as more than just walls and windows. I feel like each home has its own spirit, and we instantly fell in love with the spirit of this old house.

The main floor is the darkest space in our home, as is the case with many of the old homes built so close together in Toronto. My goal was to keep the crown moulding and baseboards in their original state and then paint the entire space bright white so it would reflect light as much as possible. I have a secret love for mid-century furniture and also an obsession with travel so I tried to bring both elements into the living room through the furniture I chose as well as the accessories.

I love the dining room, even though we probably spend the least amount of time here. I wanted to keep everything as light as possible and just introduced some touches of brass. The biggest thing for me was finding a way to display my crystal glass ware that my grandmother passed down to me, so I decided to create a little bar area to display the glasses and decanters. When I couldn’t find the right artwork to go above the bar, I decided to make my own print.

The kitchen was dark and quite sad looking when we moved in. There was a speckled beige backsplash that extended the entire left side of the wall, and ran up to the ceiling. We had it ripped out and replaced with white subway tile for a cleaner look. We left the cabinets, counter tops and sink as they were and added white open shelves to make the space feel less closed in. I also found the perfect kitchen island on sale at a local Mennonite shop so we brought that in and its now turned into our family eating area.

The master bedroom had a terrible layout and a tiny closet which was not usable by either Michael or I. First on the list, we had the wall built up around the chimney to 6 feet, and installed open shelves to allow us some usable space for books and photos. We removed the door to our tiny closet, and had the wall closed. Then we used Ikea wardrobes to span the entire wall and just had our contractor trim them in so they give the illusion of being “built in”.

The kids rooms are by far my absolute FAVOURITE rooms to decorate and put together! Especially with Johannes’ room now that he’s older, his personality comes out in his room. This bedroom also had a tiny little closet in it and it shares a wall with our master bedroom, so when we closed up the door to the closet in our master we decided to use that space and create a wall to wall real built-in closet for Johannes. This will allow Johannes to grow into this space and not have to worry about storage.

We are expecting our newest little boy to join our clan come late August/early September so this space is all for him. I don’t know what his personality will be like just yet, so my goal was to make his space a clean slate. A space where he will be able to grow and add his own personal touch some day. I stuck with a neutral black and white palette and added just a few colourful pieces.
