Whimsical Garden Party Aesthetic Done Perfectly at The Baumberhof

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors were pastels with touches of black and white to create a more elegant feel. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The vision was an elevated garden party. The Bride loved the whimsical vibe of the garden party but still wanted the event to feel elevated and luxurious. By adding the Black and white stationery, signage, etc We felt like it did just that. Madelyn told her guests to wear a ton of color and it was just so awesome to see all the colors come to life.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Will proposed to me at the venue I have always wanted to get married at. He picked the most beautiful forest area at the Baumberhof and set up a gorgeous table full of photos, the ring, champagne, and a family bible with my new last name. He told me we were just going to tour it (we knew we wanted to get married there so wanted to book before it filled up). He arrived at my house and got out of the car immediately tearing up, and holding my favorite white dress for me to change into, and drove me to the Baumberhof. We sat in silence on the drive there trying not to look at each other so we wouldn’t cry! He proposed, I said yes, and then he planned a surprise party with over 100 of our friends for me!

The gown was an Antonio Gaul Wedding dress made of ivory silk material. It was custom altered and the bride also added the bow that was on the back of her mother’s wedding gown when she married. It was a perfect match, and so special.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The bridesmaids’ dresses were all assorted from many places. They were told to pick one that suited their personality and one they felt beautiful in. The majority were from Reformation, Saks, and For Love and Lemons.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The Groomsmen’s tuxes were from the black tux and Will wore his late grandfather’s vintage Rolex.

A Vintage French Garden Party in the Middle of Oklahoma

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]When it came to color in the wedding the bride didn’t want it to be too over powering but she still wanted some pops of color! The color mainly came from the flowers, the food/ dessert tables, and the bridesmaids. The colors consisted of more muted blues, yellows, greens, peach, pink, and of course white. Her bouquet was the perfect example of the colors used throughout the wedding! [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The vision of the wedding was to create a vintage French garden party in the middle of Oklahoma. Luckily, their venue did half the work with the beautiful architectural and design decisions. The design of the wedding focused on small details such as vintage china, mixed glassware, stunning florals, and other vintage details throughout the spaces that came together to create the perfect ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Merrik had gone to Edmond (her hometown) one weekend at the beginning of October for a few different things. On Sunday morning she was getting ready for church and while her, her parents, older sister, and her brother in law were at church Luke, his mom, friend Houston, and her two younger sisters were working hard to set up a proposal picnic at the Myriad Gardens in Oklahoma City! After church her family told me her they were going to a new brunch spot in downtown OKC (which was very abnormal, but she’s not one to question). Her sister proceeds to say that since they were so early for their reservation she wanted to stop and take pictures at the Myriad Gardens. Merrik again didn’t question, so she followed her family directly to where Luke was waiting! He then gets on one knee and asks Merrik to marry him! She of course said yes and the rest of their friends and family popped out of the bushes to celebrate! After a few pictures they did end up going to brunch at Tellers in OKC! [/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Merrik absolutely loved her wedding dress and it could not have been more perfect for her. It fit her and the vibe of the wedding perfectly. The designer of her dress is Danielle Frankel and as soon as she saw her designs she knew she needed to wear one of her dresses for her wedding! Her designs are unlike anything the bride has seen. They have a more Victorian feel and are absolutely stunning which she thought was fitting for the wedding vision. Pure art! [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]For the bridesmaid dresses she wanted all of the girls to feel confident and to love their dresses. Merrik also wanted each dress to be different colors, different textures, and different patterns. Many different dresses were ordered and tried on to find the perfect ones. The main colors were blue, yellow, pink, mauve, and green with different textures and floral patterns. While they weren’t all the same color or cut they went together perfectly and everyone looked amazing! [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]For Luke’s wedding suit they went to many different stores trying to find what they were looking for. Merrik wanted Luke’s suit to match the vibe of her dress and the wedding. They ended up making a custom suit at Hive and Colony in Dallas, Texas. The suit was a double breasted tan and brown herringbone fabric with a slim lapel. The suit jacket was gutted for breathability since they were getting married in Oklahoma in June. He paired this with an ivory button down, a colorful paisley pocket square with the simple pocket boutonnière and dark brown loafers. The suit was perfect and Luke looked great. When it came to the groomsmen, Merrik wanted them to have plain tan suits with a simple white button down. This way Luke stood out in the group and you could clearly see who the groom was! [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]For the food, Merrik wanted the table to look just as good as it tasted. She wanted the food tables to almost be a part of the decor in the reception. They had Abbey Road Catering do the food and the drinks and they had a beautiful assortment of meats and cheeses with fruit plates, tea sandwiches, a bread basket, vegetable cups and more! On top of that they had two signature drinks: a lemon drop and an old fashion with beer and wine as well! It was all delicious and done beautifully!
(To bring the vintage elegance vibe into the wedding the bride also thrifted all of the china dishes, bowls, platters, and stands for the dessert table and food/ charcuterie tables!) [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The Baumberhof venue is already so beautiful on its own, so there wasn’t a lot they needed to do to create their French garden party vision! Their florals were done by Poppy Lane Design and one of Merrik’s favorite arrangements was her bouquet. It was stunning and added just the right colors to the wedding! For the ceremony, Kelly, with Poppy Lane, and her team individually drilled holes into the ground and placed white roses all they way down the aisles. On top of that, they also did a beautiful swirling arbor of babies breathe around the wooden arch at the front of the aisle. For the reception I wanted the dinner to feel more intimate so we did three long tables that went from one side of the room to the other and on top of the tables were (some rented and some thrifted by me) all different vintage china plates with colorful glassware. The florals included small bud vases and frog arrangements with mixed brass candle sticks It was simple but beautifully executed. They also had a black and white checkered dance floor with ivory paper lanterns hung above. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was done by Allie’s Baking Boutique! The inspiration was the vintage cake designs that have been very popular more recently. It was two layers with detailed white frosting and red cherries around the edges. For the groom’s cake they did a smaller white heart cake that said “til death do us part” written in black frosting on the top. Both were delicious and beautifully done. Not only did she make the cakes, similar to the charcuterie tables, Merrik wanted the dessert table to be part of the decor. Allie put together the most amazing dessert table with lemon bars, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate chip cookies, mini fruit tarts, mini cakes, and many more. Merrik was blown away by how amazing everything looked and tasted!
(To bring the vintage elegance vibe into the wedding she also thrifted all of the china dishes, bowls, platters, and stands for the dessert table and food/ charcuterie tables!) [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Before the ceremony started Merrik and Luke had the Bridgerton soundtrack being played by the live string quartet which fit the vibe perfectly! They also continued to play it during cocktail hour. When they walked down the aisle they had live strings play a medley of Canon in D to play as the bridal party walked down, and then as Merrik and her dad walked down the aisle, the string quartet started playing Golden Hour by JVKE. She also had her younger sister and maid of honor read Ephesians 5:22-23 during the ceremony. They also had a friend of theirs sing one of their favorite songs Salt and Light by Lauren Daigle! She did an amazing job. And finally Merrik and Luke walked back down the aisle to “This is What Falling in Love Feels Like” by JVKE.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Due to the layout of the reception being three long tables Merrik thought it was important to create a seating chart to prevent any confusion! She had a very specific vision in mind, so she DIYed the guest seating chart, the table numbers, and the place settings. The seating chart was created with a large mirror she thrifted at Goodwill and spray painted gold! Then Merrik printed out the names and table numbers on card stock taped it to the mirror and added a gold seal to the top of each page to complete the vision. For the table numbers Merrik bought 5 pieces of travertine tile, broke them into small pieces that could still stand on its own and then glued plastic white cursive numbers to each individual piece of travertine. The last part she needed was the actual name cards. Merrik used a cursive font, two different pieces of card stock and a gold seal to put them all together. They placed those at the center of the vintage china plates and it all came together beautifully. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Because Merrik and Luke were getting married in June in Oklahoma it was pretty warm. To help the guests feel more comfortable they placed individual hand fans on each chair. They also had cute ivory parasols for the bridesmaids. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]For the program Merrik created a newspaper from scratch. She did all of this on Canva and then sent it to be printed at the Newspaper Club! It was such a fun detail and a pretty inexpensive way to have a unique program. In the newspaper she put “our story”, a fun crossword on the back, a lot of our amazing engagement pictures, and the typical program information. It turned out perfect! [/field]

Coffee + Waffles + Beer, This E-Sesh is Foodies Dream

Total engagement session envy is happening over here, because this couple? They included coffee, waffles, AND beer in their special day – talk about the best day ever! Captured by the talented Sheradee Hurst Photography we’ve got the cutest couple waiting for you in The Vault!

From Sheradee Hurst PhotographyI photographed this lovely film engagement session of Quinn and Hannah in two places that where perfect for their love story. Hannah loved the idea of a local coffee shop for part of their session, and for their outdoor photos she wanted a wooded look. They selected natural colors to wear and the tones were on point for the two locations Quinn and Hannah are so comfortable with each other. There is no need to pose a couple that is as in love as they are.

From The Bride…Quinn and I met our Sophomore year of college when my Sorority and his Fraternity were paired together for a Greek Competition. It took me a while to realize that Quinn had a crush on me, although he thought he was being pretty clear. Within a few months he convinced me to date him, and within a year he had stolen my heart!

After three years, we knew we wanted to spend forever together. On November 13th I accepted a big girl position that I would be starting after graduation. Quinn wanted to take me out to celebrate the big occasion. However, he had bigger plans. He told me we needed to stop at my grandmother’s house because she wanted to congratulate me in person. When we got to the doorsteps of my grandmother’s courtyard, candles and lanterns were scattered about. Quinn took my hands, got down on one knee, and asked me to make him the luckiest man and be his wife. I didn’t need any convincing. Of course, I said YES!

Lovely Lavender Wedding Inspiration

Sometimes, all it takes is a gorgeous color palette to set your theme. And more often than not, that very color palette can simply come from the world around you. Like this lavender inspired celebration, crafted by Tony Foss Florals, Aisle Be With You and Sheradee Hurst Photography, that captures the innate beauty of mother nature. Click here for so much more!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/125071017 600 338]

From Sheradee Hurst Photography and Ariana Simms of Aisle Be With YouThrough the beauty of nature arises a lavender inspired shoot. When designing this inspiration shoot, putting together a team of talented and creative artists was key in capturing our vision of using nature as the perfect canvas for a wedding day.

The natural light peeking through the intertwined trees and the serenity of the water influenced the vision behind this shoot. Different hues of lavender and green are seen throughout to compliment the earth tones in its surroundings. The idea behind this shoot is a walk down memory lane for the bride on her wedding day. As you transition from different vignettes, memories from her wedding day are shared.

Vintage pieces such as the gorgeous settee, end table, and chandelier from Jam Events and Productions, were chosen to add charm and romance to the setting. With nature being one of our main elements to the design, it was vital that the gown and the bridesmaid dresses had plenty of movement and fluidity. This was top on our wardrobe priority list. There is always something magical about seeing a dress sway in the wind! The day of the shoot, like most days in Oklahoma, we had plenty of wind. Watching the bride’s gown from the talented designer, Allure, and the bridesmaids’ dresses from designer, Bill Levkoff flow in the breeze gave motion to the design. An aqua colored jewel was selected for the wedding ring from BC Clark Jewelers as a dual purpose. We chose the aqua stone to tie in with the water scene of the wedding, and to add a new take on the something blue.

Gorgeous, lush florals designed by Tony Foss Flowers, are seen throughout the vignettes. The stunning bridal bouquet incorporates the popular king protea flowers to add drama along with some classic favorites, and hung above the boardwalk across the pond, a picturesque swing covered in greenery and roses.

The powerful floral became the blueprint for stationery by Touie’s Design. The soft color palette with the shades of pink, purple, and green were beautifully arranged to create a pattern that would later influence our detailed cake design, too. The watercolor style of the floral on the stationery would translate into an intricate part of the hand painted layer of the cake. As the top gold layer sparkled in the sun, your eyes move down to the intricate watercolor floral pattern hand painted by Mishelle Handy. The greenery that was placed around the cake base, not only ties in the landscaping around it, but also helps make the cake stand out even more. The lilac floral atop is the perfect pop of color. Placing the cake in the water was a natural choice as the illusion of a floating cake created a tranquil added touch, while drawing in the water to the overall design.

The log bench and wood table showcase a rustic style, but the ghost chairs were used to marry it with a modern style. The gorgeous calligraphy cut out signs behind the bride and groom seats are a modern taken on the traditional “Mr.” and “Mrs.” signs. The vintage style is seen throughout the place setting arrangements that were selected from Vintage Tabletop Rentals, to incorporate the romantic and timeless moment in the Bride’s life.

Song of Soloman 3:4 was the inspiration for the dessert bar. We wanted to show bride’s an easy DIY, new take on an old piece by reviving a vanity and bringing it to life. The bride’s something old can be beautifully transformed into their something new with this piece. The mirrored segment of the vanity was painted with chalk paint, and calligraphy by Sooner Calligraphy. Mishelle Handy Cakes showcased dessert items each on its own platform to highlight the detailed dessert art. Tony Foss Flowers filled drawers with florals once again weaving the lavender theme through each piece.

Sheradee Hurst Photography and Aisle Be With You wedding planning chose to photograph this shoot using film to compliment the colors chosen and to show bride’s the richness that film photography provides. Like the vanity, something considered old is once again becoming something new as film photography is becoming more popular with brides. Dewberry Cinema caught the joyful essence of the shoot at every turn of the walk through this Lavender Love Story.
