Gatsby Inspired Wedding at Old Westbury Gardens

I have a major thing for fab wallpaper so to say I got excited looking through Rima Brindamour’s pics would be a bit of an understatement. Captured at Old Westbury Gardens, this fall wedding radiates vintage chic style starting with the Bride’s gorgeous gown – that lace! See this and more in our VAULT right this way!

From Rima Brindamour… When Dave and Rebecca first reached out to me and told me about their wedding venue, I immediately Googled it and knew I needed to photograph this wedding. This is hands down the most beautiful venue I’ve photographed and I probably overreacted a little bit as I walked from room to room drooling over all the wallpaper. I’ve never had such a tough time deciding where to hang the dress when pretty much every spot in this mansion was perfect for such a shot. It didn’t hurt things that Dave and Rebecca are insanely attractive humans and on the same page with me when it comes to wanting your wedding photos to be candid and real, rather than overly posed and corny. We had a great time during their Dumbo engagement session and I knew that their wedding would be beautiful but even my imagination wasn’t prepared for this. Seriously, this is a new favorite!

Romantic + Elegant New York Garden Wedding

Garden weddings are my happy place and this elegant affair has got me beaming from ear to ear. Capturing an organic oasis filled with old world charm, Jen Huang Photography was behind the lens as these hometown sweethearts wed in true style. With stellar details by Roey Mizrahi Events,  McKenzie Miller Films captured every happy tear below!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/74473030 600 338]

From Roey Mizrahi Events… Kristen and Chris’ love story begins in the town in which they both grew up. While they hadn’t met until several years after high school, they quickly made up for lost time and crafted a playful relationship. It was clear they were destined for one another and as a result, Chris asked Kristen for her hand in marriage at the top of the Belvedere Castle in Central Park.

The couple was inspired by thoughts of an elegant English garden for their late August wedding. After a handful of venue visits, Kristen and Chris fell in love with NYIT’s de Seversky Mansion. It was the perfect combination of old world charm, elegance and beauty. On the day of, a quaint glass terrarium settled upon a rustic wooden table served to provide guests with custom programs and handkerchiefs for the ceremony. Behind the mansion, in a setting adorned with natural and lush florals, the ceremony was held underneath a towering linden tree. The couple recited custom vows, crafted by Collette McGuire from Ceremonies and Beyond, to one another before friends, family, and loved ones.

After a plentiful cocktail hour, guests were escorted into the dining room for a round of toasts presented in front of the large marble fireplace decorated with an assortment of candles. The room had a romantic & soft glow, each table lit intimately by a handful of votives. The centerpieces were lush and romantic, overflowing olive branches draped onto the shimmering linens. Anne Kilcullen from Blade Floral & Event Design truly transformed the space into one that was unimaginable and beyond the couples expectations. After dinner, the celebration moved towards a glass-enclosed porch which allowed for the stars above to act as the backdrop to the couple’s emotional first dance and the ensuing merriment. The guests had the freedom to congregate on the outdoor patio surrounding fire pits, indulging in the abundant dessert buffet, the cigar bar and the playful and entertaining photo booth.

From the beautiful Bride… With the endless guidance, advice and vision from Roey Mizrahi Events, everything fell perfectly into place. Her team was there the day of to ensure that the couple had the most amazing time and everything ran smoothly. Jen Huang Photography and McKenzie Miller Films beautifully captured all of the days moments from start to finish. This stellar team of vendors truly created the most magical day for Kristen & Chris, a day they have vocalized will be cherished forever and looked back upon with such fondness and swollen hearts.

I just wanted it to feel really warm and romantic without being too frilly. I also love classic elements but I didn’t want our wedding day to be too traditional. So I tried to mix the two with a soft and somewhat muted color scheme, really lush and romantic flowers, natural fiber linens, clean lines when it came too my dress and our stationery but then introduced some fun swirly calligraphy and of course lace. Our venue also helped capture that warm aura without feeling too vintage or too formal and stuffy. When everything came together, it was better than we could’ve imagined. I kept saying “I want our flowers to feel like an old English garden” and I think that’s exactly what Anne, our Florist accomplished, but it didn’t feel too casual thanks to our amazing & elegant venue!

Classic De Seversky Mansion Wedding

I love that this couple waited a few months to start the planning—a few months to soak in the wonderful time that an engagement is. My fiancé and I did the same exact thing and I’m so glad we did. And this wedding right here? It’s proof that waiting to plan, doesn’t hurt the pretty one bit. This classic day has a simple, understated beauty that truly lets the love shine, and shine it does in this gorgeous gallery from Betsi Ewing Studio.

From the beautiful Bride…Rob and I met one night while we were out celebrating my sister’s birthday. We were introduced by mutual friends and though neither of us were looking for anything serious, we hit it off instantly and spent the entire night talking amongst ourselves in a crowded bar. From that point we went on to date for six years and on our sixth anniversary we went out to Sag Harbor for a little celebratory weekend. We had made plans to relax for a bit before dinner and when I walked out of the shower, Rob was fully dressed and down on one knee. It was so unexpected and magical. The entire weekend we felt like we were living a dream. Getting engaged is really such a wonderful time. The love and support you feel from friends and family cannot be described.

In order to maintain the magic we decided to postpone wedding planning for one month (which then turned into three) and I’m so glad that we did. To be able to embrace the love and not worry about wedding planning stress was perfect. Once a few months passed, we finally began thinking about what we wanted our wedding day to look and feel like. We immediately knew we wanted the day to feel romantic and classic and be one hundred percent reflective of who we are as a couple. We compiled a list of venues and visited De Seversky Mansion on the NYIT campus. This was our first and only venue tour. As soon as we drove up to the estate we knew it was where we were going to get married—it was perfect. Romantic, classic and intimate.

Our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for and more and my favorite part of the ceremony was when our officiant read the three things we loved most about each other. I can still remember standing there listening to the officiant reading what Rob said about me and thinking to myself it sounded exactly like what I had written about him.

Classic Mansion Wedding with New Orleans Style

A. Her dress. Can we talk about her dress? B. The first look. It really doesn’t get ANY better than that. And C. Um, the insanely beautiful reception. One part traditional elegance, one part New Orleans inspired goodness complete with a second line. Photographed by Antonio Rocha, this wedding is the very definition of pure, unabashed elegance. More here!

From photographer, Antonio RochaThe wedding of Ashley and Michael was one with a rich history, deep friendships, and memorable moments. Their wedding took place in the very beautiful NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Guests came from all over the world to witness this union.

During the ceremony, Ashley and Michael exchanged handwritten vows. Ashley’s Maid of Honor was her longtime friend, Ashley, who has witnessed the love couple has for each other first hand and knew Michael was in love with Ashley since the moment he met her. Michaels’s bestman, was his college friend, Kwame. They studied together at Harvard and have been friends ever since. Paying homage to their African roots, the couple jumped the broom after exchanging rings.

After the ceremony, the guest were escorted into the library where they had cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. After cocktail hour, the reception started with the traditional first dance soon followed by the New Orleans style second line around the mansion. Since Ashley is from New Orleans, it was a must for the wedding. It was an elegant and lovely wedding.

Lauren of Loli Events… Although brief, Springtime in New York is always rejuvenating and exciting. Everything feels brighter, happier and just full of life. This shoot captured exactly that with a perfect dose of glamour and whimsy. The beautiful grounds of the Old Westbury Gardens was a no- brainer as a backdrop. Everything there is lush, thoughtful and simply stunning. Our goal as luxury wedding vendors was to capture some serious beauty while having fun and enjoy the moment. It is so easy to get caught up and forget to pause and take in your surroundings. This shoot is dedicated to creating a bit of wanderlust and a need to just take a slow deep breath.

Elegant De Seversky Mansion Wedding from Brklyn View Photography

This wedding right here?  It’s exactly why I love New York weddings. It’s sleek + sophisticated, chock-full of heartwarming moments and overflowing with that garden party meets traditional style I simply love to see.  In other words, it’s pure perfection with an added dose of floral awesomeness from Blush Designs and a NYIT De Seversky Mansion setting that is simply breathtaking.  Oh, and the beautiful gallery captured by Brklyn View Photography?  Amazing.  Join me there for all of the pretty.

From Brklyn View PhotographyThe NYIT De Seversky Mansion was the perfect location to celebrate Tiffany and Cliff’s modern, romantic and elegant wedding. Tiffany wore a stunning Mark Ingram Atelier wedding gown that her mother hand-beaded just to give it that extra sparkle. It took her almost two weeks to complete! Throughout the day, it rained on and off but once Tiffany started to put on her wedding dress, the sun came out to say hello. It was also just in time for their sweet & stunning First Look. Cliff looked as dashing as ever in his tuxedo and wore his lucky beaded bracelet just for the days festivities. During their ceremony, the sun came back out to fill the garden room with a kiss of light, and it felt as if they were being blessed at the very moment they became husband and wife. During their reception, Cliff sang two songs to his lovely wife as a special gift just for her. The newlyweds danced the night away surrounded by their friends and family. I’m so thrilled I could be there and capture their wedding day for them. It was truly a magical celebration! Congratulations Tiffany and Cliff!
